Life in Fort Myers Beach on Estero Island is filled to the brim right now, with March activities and events centering around the throngs of college students enjoying their spring break as well as thousands of seasonal residents and vacationers.

If you are going to be in Fort Myers Beach in March, just plan ahead and avoid the stress of the traffic. My drive to the island usually takes about 10 minutes, but during this time of year I add another 30 minutes of time to cross the Matanzas Bridge at the north end of the island.

Cincinnati Firemen in Fort Myers Beach 2011

The next annual event that is highly anticipated every year is the visit by the Cincinnati Firemen!

This group of highly trained entertainers will be presenting the first of many daily Charity Variety Shows at the Lani Kai on Sunday, March 11th at 1:30 pm (time is approximate)

They will be performing every day (except one day off, to be determined) at 1:30 p.m. in the front of the Lani Kai.

Ladies, you don't want to miss this show! Not only will the proceeds benefit a very worthy charity, you will be entertained by each and every one of these guys.

They put a tremendous amount of time, energy and effort into preparing skits and entertainment for crowds of all ages.

If you are not sure where the Lani Kai is...look for the light green, 7 story hotel in the downtown area of Fort Myers Beach. Go to the beach side of the hotel and you'll be in the right place. It's real hard to miss!

January 1, 2012 was a gorgeous day to be on the beach...Fort Myers Beach!

My husband and I decided to have breakfast at the rooftop restaurant of the Lani Kai. Diners sit on glider swings overlooking the beach (6 floors up), enjoy a very casual atmosphere, good menu prices and take in a great view of the water and beach activities.

It was such a sunny, warm day that we decided to go for a walk on the beach, which, by the way, is HUGE now that sand has been added to the north end of the beach.

Starting with the tip of the island at Bowditch Point and going south past the Lani Kai, the beach is so much larger than before.

If you visited Estero Island in the last six months and noticed some barges out in the water with huge hoses on them, that is what they were doing. Once the sand was blown in, small bulldozers spread it out on the beach area.

We walked out on the pier and I took some photos looking north, south and also of The Beach Pierside Grill. The Pierside is located, of course, right next to the pier.

Outdoor dining is the choice for most, and diners along the wall of the restaurant have a great view of the beach. Typically the beach is narrow, and when the tide comes in it disappears altogether for a few hours.

Not any more! The photo is small, but it looks like a mile wide distance between the water and the edge of the Pierside!

Now that's good news for beach goers, who can spread out and never find that the north end of Fort Myers Beach is too crowded!

And that's a good thing, because 'Season' is upon us and Spring Break is right around the corner.

A cabin in the woods in South Fort Myers, Florida? The two phrases don't seem to quite fit together, do they?

If you have dined at the Bistro you won't be surprised by the distinction, as the food, drink, ambiance, service and bay views are second to none.

And to add even more accolades to the restaurant, the August, 2011 issue of The Wine Spectator Magazine gave it the Award of Excellence. This distinction recognizes the bistro's wine list's depth, creativity, accuracy and menu-pairing excellence.

Our family chose to enjoy our Thanksgiving dinner at the Bayfront Bistro in 2010, and have many fond memories of that evening. We may have been seated at the table pictured above...I think we were...and the evening was perfect. We all chose a non traditional meal - no turkey dinners at our table, although it was an option on the menu - and everyone was extremely satisfied with their food. The drinks were impeccable, service was awesome and of course the view was great. We made memories that will last forever. In fact, I think we have started an annual Thanksgiving tradition in the family with dinner at The Bayfront Bistro.

Bayfront Bistro is located mid-island on Estero Island, directly behind Publix Supermarket. The restaurant is located within the wonderful full service marine facility of Snook Bight Yacht Club and Marina. You'll turn into the Publix parking area which is just south of Ocean Harbor Condo. Head past the Publix and you'll see the two story Bayfront Bistro straight ahead.

Dine casually outdoors or in the dining area inside the restaurant. Likewise, there is an outdoor bar as well as the indoor bar area...the choice is yours.

My husband and I watched the final round of The Masters tournament earlier this year seated at the indoor bar. We enjoyed a scrumptious fruit and cheese tray and some wine as we enjoyed the tournament on TV. It was a relaxing and comfortable experience that I would gladly repeat anytime!

Fort Myers Beach living is always fun, casual and as entertaining as you desire, with many great eateries to choose from. Hmmm....I think I'm getting hungry right now!

As a Fort Myers Beach realtor, I am asked about property prices often. Most folks are looking for a great deal on real estate as the prices for homes and condos for sale have dropped dramatically in the last few years.

So what will an investment of about $130,000 to $200,000 purchase in Fort Myers Beach? Actually, more than you would expect. I have a list of condominiums for sale that is always current, and as of this writing there are thirty-three properties in that price range.

Can you purchase a condo right on the gulf? Yes, you can! On the north end of the island, Sanibel View Villas offer condo ownership with all the amenities of the world famous Pink Shell Resort available...it’s an awesome and beautiful family resort. Mid-island, the Sandpiper Gulf Resort is the place to consider. If the southern end of the island is your preferred location then the Estero Beach and Tennis Club will offer the price and gulf view you’re looking for.

A condominium in Fort Myers Beach for $200,000 or less will typically have anywhere from 500 to 1,000 square feet, with some being smaller and some a little larger.
