How to Be Charming?

Have you ever noticed how some people captivate everyone they speak to? No matter what they look like or how much money they have, they can walk into a room and instantly be the center of attention. When they leave, people think highly of them and want to emulate them. Thats charisma, a sort of magnetism that inspires confidence and adoration.

Like beauty, luck, and social position, charisma can open many doors in life. Unlike these other qualities, anyone can become more charismatic.
1. Improve your posture. Good posture will give the impression of self confidence (even if you dont feel that way on the inside). While walking, maintain a relaxed yet definitive upright posture: spine long, shoulders back, head level with the ground. This may feel awkward or overpowering to you when you first practice it, but keep trying.
2. Relax the muscles in your face to the point where you have a natural, pleasant expression permanently engraved there. Face the world and show everyone youre not afraid.
3. Make a connection. When your eyes come in contact with another persons, nod and smile subtly with a subdued joy shining forth. Dont worry about the other persons reaction and dont overdo it.
4. Remember peoples names when you meet them for the first time. This takes an enormous amount of effort for most people. Repeat the persons name when stating your name to that person will help you to remember it better. For example: Hi Jack, Im Wendy. Follow through with small talk and repeat the persons name. Repeat it once more when you say goodbye. Its not just about helping you to remember that person. The more you say a persons name, the more that person will feel that you like them and the greater the chance theyll warm up to you.
5. Be interested in people. If you meet a new acquaintance, for example a coworker, a classmate, a friend of a friend, etc. find out about their immediate family and interests. Be sure to ask after the names of family members and remember them. Be careful in that subject though you dont want to be nosy. If you ask too much they will become uncomfortable. Also ask after their particular interests in life. These two topics will ensure much better small talk than just harping on about school or work. Most people dont like to think about those things at social occasions unless they have to. Even if it is about networking, you should understand fully the worth of taking a break from talking shop. It is important to refrain from talking up about yourself. Be purely interested and impressed by the person with whom you are speaking.
6. Orient topics toward the audience. This means taking into account topics that interest those around you, even if you are not so keen on them. If you are in a sporty crowd, talk about last nights game or the meteoric rise of a new team. If you are amongst a group of hobbyists, draw out their hobbies and make remarks related to fishing, knitting, mountain climbing, movies, etc. Nobody expects you to be an expert. It is your level of interest and willingness to engage in topics that makes you an interesting person to be around. Exercise an open mind. Let others do the explaining. If someone mistakenly thinks you know more about the topic, be genuine and simply say that your knowledge is limited but that you are hoping to learn more about it.
7. Praise others instead of gossiping. If you are talking with someone or you are talking in a group of people, and up pops the subject of another person in a positive or negative way, be the one to mention something you like about that person. Hearsay is the most powerful tool in gaining charm because it is always viewed as 100% sincere. It has the added benefit of creating trust in you. The idea will spread that you never have a bad word to say about anyone. Everyone will know that their reputation is safe with you.
8. Dont Lie. A lie is something you say for which there is some direct evidence somewhere out there that contradicts it. If you tell Mary that you like Jane and Billy that you dont like Jane, Mary and Billy will talk and your reputation will be ruined. No one will believe a word you say.
9. Issue compliments generously, especially to raise others self esteem. Try to pick out something that you appreciate in any situation and verbally express that appreciation. That is tantamount to saying, No, I am not what you are saying I am, and your judgment is wrong.
11. Control your tone of voice. The tone of your voice is crucial. Most people feel insecure somewhere inside and have an inability to accept praise. For this very reason, when you praise, do it subtly and glibly. When you say, you look nice today it should be in the exact same tone that you would use to say its a nice day. Any variation from your normal tone will arouse suspicion about your sincerity. Practice giving compliments into a recorder and play it back. Does it sound sincere? Practice until you get it right.. It might not sound right to you, in that case, ask someone for judgement.

* Developing charisma is an art. The general guidelines above can help you be more charismatic, but your charisma must come from within you and must reflect you as an individual or it will appear fake. Fortunately, everyone has the ability to be charismatic, and it simply needs to be coaxed out. Practice and take note of what works and what needs improvement.

* Dont mimic others. People with well developed charisma have a remarkable ability not only to sway peoples opinions but also to cause others to emulate their personalities and even gestures. At the same time, however, research has shown that charismatic people do not emulate other charismatic people. Their individuality sets them apart.

* Have a message. Dont be afraid to be controversial, to push the envelope. If you believe in something or feel strongly about it, communicate that in a respectful way. Your charisma will help people be accepting of your ideas.

DRINK CHAMPAGNE ANYWHERE
You probably know a couple of people who think the key to a perfect New Year’s Eve is the setting. I know I do. One friend is so excited about ringing in the start of 2010 in Paris that she couldn’t stop gushing about it over dinner…back in August. However, in my opinion, you don’t have to travel to France to stage a romantic New Year’s interlude. You simply need a bottle of champagne (Veuve Clicquot Rose is my favorite, but any kind will do), two glasses, and a guy that you’re kind of crazy about. To boost the romance quotient even higher, read on.

MAKE RESERVATIONS
New Year’s Eve is the perfect excuse to indulge in a romantic dinner, so be sure to make reservations well in advance. Don’t make the assumption that you have to go to a “fancy” place either. One of my favorite New Year’s Eves was spent dancing to ‘80s music at a dive bar. Skip the overpriced clubs if that’s not your scene and go somewhere fun with your guy. (Bring your own champagne, if need be!)

WEAR SOMETHING SEXY
Even if you’re not planning to go anywhere on New Year’s Eve, don’t deny yourself the pleasure of wear something sparkly or a little bit sexy. Whether it’s a sparkly eyeshadow or a leather dress, your guy will definitely notice and appreciate the extra effort.

STAY IN
I’ll admit it: I am a sucker for Dick Clark. There is something that is so familiar and comforting about him; he’s practically a tradition in his own right. So if watching the NYE countdown is a must for you, make sure you at least do it right — don't just stare mindlessly at the boob tube. Wear a festive hat, play a drinking game with your boyfriend or husband, and be sure to kiss every time Dick goes to commercial or says “rockin’ eve.”

More than 90% of back pain is caused by muscle weakness in the back or the abdomen or both.

You can take care of back pain and prevent it from recurring by maintaining correct alignment and good posture into your unconscious patterns that more you through the day and by strengthening the muscle groups that sustain it.

Medical experts have found that the reason for lower back pain is especially due to the relentless and abnormal demands made on our backs by modern lifestyle habits.

Too much sitting, and slouching around, too little exercise, overweight and chronic stress are some of the reason for occurrence of back pain. Below are some tips to help to prevent and overcome lower back pain.

1. GOOD POSTURE

The first step is to become aware of your body, so that when you're holding yourself stiff, you instantly recognize the tension in your muscles standing or sitting, you should put minimal strain on the muscles of your lower back, by pressuring the spine's natural curve.

2. MAKE THE RIGHT MOVES

Lift using your leg muscles, not your arms and back.

If you need to pick up something heavy, like a grocery bag or a packed suitcase, bend at your knee and lift it, keeping your back straight.

Outdoors, use a backpack rather than a shoulder bag, it will distribute your weight more evenly.

3. LEVEL OF HEIGHT

Bring your work, food or reading to a position that allows you to keep your eyes straight ahead, your head high, and which does not require you to crane your neck forward.

4. SLEEP RIGHT

Avoid sleeping on your stomach.

When the stomach sags downwards, it tends to arch your back, increasing the lumbar curve and your pain.

Sleeping on your back can be similarly uncomfortable, for it tends to increase the lumbar curve.

Sleeping on the side with legs bent at knees, tends to minimize the spinal stress by straightening the lumber curve.

Try placing one or two pillows under your knee, this is known as "lazy S" position, and the pillow under the knee tends to pull your hips upwards, flattening the lumbar curve and reducing the tension in this area.

5. PRACTICE RELAXATION TECHNIQUES

Practice relaxing your back muscles, when you're sitting in one place for a long time.

6. IDENTIFY FEELING OF EXERTION AND PAIN

It is vital that you distinguish between the feeling of exertion and pain. Pain is a signal from your nerves that what you are doing is wrong for you.

When you get such signals, do some mild back exercise that feel comfortable. Try the side slide, knee hug and pelvic tilt.

7. DROP THE LOAD

If you are overweight, try to loose the extra load on your back. keep at bay the pot-belly that adds to the strain or your back.

Begin with cardiovascular exercise for at least 3-5 times a week to shed extra weight.

Aerobic, exercise is probably the best kind of exercise for preventing back pain.

By getting your heart and lungs to work harder than they are used to, you can reverse the poor physical conditioning that contributes to back pain.

8. STRENGTHEN YOUR ABDOMINAL MUSCLES

Your abdominal muscles are the core of your fitness.

The rectus is the oblong muscle running vertically from the public bones to the breast bone helps to support your trunk and keep your tummy from sagging.

The oblique muscles from the diagonal bands that criss-cross at the navel. The transverse muscle is a horizontal band across the waist.

Feel these muscles tighten whenever you perform abdominal exercises.

9. TAKE A BREAK

This scenario is maybe what we see in the movies, but it is also how we imagine it happening in real life. And, quite frankly how it really should be. Anything else is nothing short of a disappointment. So, how can you ensure that your first “I love yous” will play out like the scene you’ve always envisioned? Read on.

One of the most important things to know about saying I love you is that, from the receiver’s point of view, having someone tell you that they love you when the feelings aren’t reciprocated is a horrible feeling. All of a sudden, feelings of fear and a sense of obligation emerge. With this in mind, take the following advice to heart if you are the one saying the first, “I love you.” Even though being honest to yourself and others is of utmost importance, taking your partner’s feelings into consideration is an equally necessary component. We often tell ourselves we are experiencing true love when we feel lust, excitement and connection. In my opinion, time is the only sure way to decipher the true nature of your emotions.

It can often seem like we have a built in compulsion to fall or be in love. Sometimes I feel like I could, and do, fall in love every other week. Our dreams for the future were vastly different and as for our ideas of intellectually stimulating conversation, well…there weren’t any.

This left me in the predicament of forced “I love yous.” I found out that this wasn’t the kind of love that means, “I don’t ever want to imagine a day without kissing you and I’d do anything to ensure that I don’t.” You see, most people hear those words when you’re telling them that you love them. It’s what they want to hear, so they do. Hearing those words when you don’t reciprocate the feeling SUCKS! If you aren’t sure that what you're feeling is mutual or immutable, wait. It’s worth it. Hold your tongue until you’re sure to have a “movie moment.” The more anticipation you can build up, the better your moment. Pushing for this key moment will only cheapen it.

Imagine yourself marrying this person and then, ten years down the road, you’re reminiscing. “Oh, honey, do you remember the first time I said ‘I love you’?” How do you want that memory to be? I think some people treat the words so casually, that they forget soon after, but there are some who will forever keep the memory because they prevented prematurely saying, “I love you.”

Are You an Optimist or a Pessimist ?

Between the optimist and the pessimist,
the difference is droll.
The optimist sees the doughnut;
the pessimist the hole!

I have been giving some thought lately to optimism
and pessimism. Basically, these are attitudes
— attitudes that shape and formulate our entire
existence. I mean, have you ever met a happy pessimist? Of course not.

In short, our optimism or pessimism is this:

The way we interpret the past
The way we experience and view the present
The way we imagine the future

Have you given much thought about how
your attitude,
whether you are an optimist or a pessimist,
affects you business, organization or school?
Have you thought about how it affects you personally?
And what about the team you are a part of?

What is optimism? It is the belief that things
in our past were good for us, even if that means
they were hard and taught us lessons.
It is also the belief that things will be better in the future.

Here are some contrasts between optimism and pessimism and how they affect us:

Optimism breathes life into you each day.
Pessimism drains you.

Optimism helps you to take needed risks.
Pessimism plays it safe and never accomplishes much.

Optimism improves those around you.
Pessimism drags them down.

Optimism inspires people to great heights.
Pessimism deflates people to new lows.

There is only one way that optimism and
pessimism are the same, and that is that
they are both self-fulfilling. If you are an
optimist, you will generally find that good
things happen to you. And if you are a
pessimist,you will find yourself in the
not-so-good situations more often than not.

So can a person just become an optimist?
Yes! We can choose to look at the world
any way we want to. We can choose to
look at the world and think the worst,
or we can tell ourselves the good things
about each situation. As you find yourself
looking at your enterprise, begin to view it
through the eyes of an optimist, and you
will reap the rewards listed above,
and so will the people around you.

There are tremendous benefits to being an optimist,
as stated above. But there are some pessimists out there
who will say, But that isn't realistic. I say, Who cares?
If things go awry, at least I have spent my time
beforehand enjoying life
and not worrying about it. And, being an optimist,
I would view the negative situation as an opportunity
to grow and learn. So I can even look forward to
my failures because they will be steppingstones
and learning tools to be applied to my future success.

Every day our true personalities get disguised in many different ways.

Whether when we wake up and wear branded clothes just to make people think we're cool, or brush our hair in a certain way to look good, or show up to work and socialize with people that in real life wouldn't be our friends anyway.

The only time when we're being 100% ourselves is the time we spend in the bathroom. Not only have our looks changed but our voices changed too, for example:

1. People voice:

A people voice is the voice that someone uses when talking to people who aren't their friends.

I like to call it "the work tone".

This voice is automatically happy, nicer, funnier and sweeter than their normal voice.

It is also often more high pitched and louder than usual.

This voice is similar to the voice used when answering a telephone or when working in retail.

When you switch your "people voice" on you will find someone saying: "did you hear how sweet she was? she's not normally like that"

2. Girlfriend voice:

Is a result of the change in pitch and tone of a man's voice when talking to their significant other.

The girlfriend voice is characterized by a higher pitch and a more feminine tone in it with scattered speech patterns and pet names or childish words.

This type of speech is usually frowned upon or mocked when used in the presence of other men.

When another man uses this voice they will definitely receive a huge amount of ridicule like "did you hear Joe's girlfriend voice when he was talking to Dana? Let's beat the crap out of him".

3. Boyfriend voice:

When a girl talks to her boyfriend in that annoying high pitched giggly voice while playing with her hair or chewing gum. When confronted, this girl will deny the fact that she uses this tone and will be annoyed at the sound of other girls using it.

"Hey Joe, how've you been I missed you a lot this weekend and couldn’t stop thinking about you".

4. Manly voice:

Used by men who try to order the weaker sex around. It is low pitched, loud and dead serious.

It is always accompanied by scary face expressions and hand gestures.

"How many times have I told you not to wear that outfit?" It's scary at first but then the feeling will eventually blow over.

5. Stage voice:

The voice men and women use when they're out with a large group of people or in a loud club.

It resembles yelling in some way or another and used when trying to be heard.

It may sometimes include repetitive sentences and raised eyebrows.

"No, I think I think I think you should talk to him first".

After being heard the speaker gains confidence and tries to think of something important to say so that he/she wouldn’t look stupid and so says the shortest meaningless sentence ever due to lack of concentration.

6. Baby voice:

The voice that God only knows where it came from used when you talk to a baby (or any cute creature like a puppy or kitten).

Being EXTREMELY high pitched with lots of gibberish one can only kill themselves.

I'm sure it's one of the main reasons a baby's first word is MUM (a cry for help).

Some can often confuse this voice with the boyfriend voice due to its frequent use with your man.

   THE world is made up of two categories of people: those who are stressed and those who are not.

Stressful people are those who desire to control life. They like to mould life in the way they wish it to be. They are focused only on themselves.

Those who have no stress are those who accept what life offers them without complaints. Their focus is about what they can do for others.
   We are merely a bio-machine as long as we believe we are mind and body. The purpose of human life is to transcend the mind and ascend to a higher state of consciousness. In that state we are truly in the divinity that we descended from. Until we reach that state of unity with what we truly are, we are in turmoil. Stress or tension can be identified as this turmoil, this confusion between our true nature and what we pretend, struggle and strive to become.

   The reasons for stress in one person does not necessarily cause stress in another. Someone said that the reverse ofstressed reads asdesserts! Nowadays, talking about stress and offering solutions that work temporarily at best is a huge business.
   Rather than fixing what is wrong within, people try fighting or dissolving stress by manipulating the field of outside circumstances. How long can you run? From what will you run away?
