Christmas at Walt Disney World

The holidays are just another magical way to enjoy the Disney Parks. There are so many new things to see, experience and taste! However, it is not recommended to travel to Walt Disney World during the holidays if it is your first trip. The holiday festivities alone can make a jam pack trip!
At the Magic Kingdom you can enjoy the beautiful castle lights, Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and lots of festive decor. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party does require separate admission, but gets you in with less crowds to experience the park. The party includes a Christmas parade featuring characters dressed in holiday spirit and showcases Santa himself! Also, throughout the night you can stuff yourself on as much free hot chocolate and cookies as you can manage! During the evening you can also experience the fantastic Holiday Wishes, which is the Magic Kingdom's firework show but drastically more spectacular for the party.

At Disney's Hollywood Studios you can enjoy the Osbourne Spectacle of Dancing Lights. Pictures do not do this event justice, but to give it a try...

The entire backlot at Hollywood Studios is dressed to the nines with Christmas lights that simultaneously dance to music.

Animal Kingdom has its own festivities with its Jingle Jungle Parade!

Epcot has a host of activities as well. Each country offers its own story-telling experiences. A member of the country sets up and dresses in appropriate costume to tell the story of how they celebrate Christmas. Epcot also has the Candlelight Processional. The Candlelight Processional is a nightly telling of the Christian story of Christmas. The story is read by a guest celebrity narrator which often includes Neal Patrick Harris, Jodi Benson, Gary Sinise and more. Choirs accompany the reading by singing traditional Christmas carols in between.

This has been but a brief glimpse of what all the park has to offer during the holidays. Not only does Christmas abound at the parks but the hotels get in the game as well! Each resort has their own Christmas tree and many even have gingerbread houses or even gingerbread trees!

While it may be too late to travel last minute to Walt Disney World for Christmas this year, Disney is accepting bookings through the end of 2013.

5 Ways to Upgrade your Vacation

1. Request an all-inclusive package instead of piecing together one that involves more travel time.
The beauty and purpose of an all-inclusive is more relaxation time. This is what a true VACATION is, as opposed to just a TRIP. If you're wanting to get away, relax and not think about your life at home - then an all-inclusive stay is by far the best solution. Hotels and resorts that offer this are not located just anywhere, so ask your Travel Agent for where you can go to find this kind of an experience. There's nothing like beating the daily troubles, and doing nothing but relaxing by a beach, by the pool, and doing your own thing!

2. Request an add-on to your Cruise plans.
If you're planning a cruise, whether it's with family, a significant other, or going solo - there's always ways to extend your vacation before or after your cruise. You can stay in your port city after you return from your cruise, and relax as if it was just another stop on your ship before you return home. Often times when you book a cruise as well as hotel stay at the same time, there are exclusive savings or perks that can be added to your package. This is the best way to increase your value and get more bang for your buck.

3. Ask for an ocean-view or better quality room stay.
This is the most simple change that can make a big difference in the feeling of luxury you get from your vacation. When it comes to hotels, you get what you pay for. Although, for some hotels you're paying for location over room quality, most hotels will let you know upfront what their hotel is known for. Travel Agents can offer advice on this better than an online website can.

4. Add day-time tours to your trip.
Most people overlook tours when they book vacations. After all, you can do it once you get there, right? It's true that you can book a tour the day of, depending on availability, but if you book tours at the same time of booking your hotel and flights, you may save a pretty big chunk of money. Tour guides absolutely love being prepared before hand, and they reward well for it. You know you're visiting the place that you are visiting for more than just a hotel room, go ahead and think about plans during the day, or night. Maybe you're interested in cooking school, or taking a stroll through a rain forest, taking a day river cruise, or an informative bus tour? Visit a glass blowing factory, see historic monuments, take a wine/brewery tour, or stroll a museum.

5. Bring more friends!
In most cases, the more people you bring on your trip, the more cost effective it is. Often times if you book a certain number of people, your overall cost will go down, or one person can come along for free. Something else that we see happen is that when you have more bodies on board, you'll get extra amenities that may not have been offered to you before. Hotels, resorts, guides, and even airlines appreciate big purchases - makes sense right? A lot of them will show you gratuity for it. So if you're booking multiples anyway, clump them together as one tour group - and everyone in your party will benefit. And what you do once you're there is up to you!

When most people think about going to Disney, they think: "Theme park, no big deal. I'll just show up". However, Disney can be just as important to plan for, as say, that trip you planned for a year to France.

Walt Disney World and Disneyland are no ordinary theme parks. They are resort destinations with so much stuff to do that you could spend 365 days there and still not run out of something new to do. That being said, planning is VERY important when thinking about your upcoming Disney trip. For example, did you know that Disney accepts dining reservations 180 days in advance?

Picture this: it's been a long, hot day at the Magic Kingdom. You and your family would love nothing more than to sit down and enjoy a relaxing meal. You approach a restaurant, excited about the meal possibilities. However, this is Disney. Other families made their reservations 180 days ago. You approach the hostess podium and she tells you it could be up to an hour and a half before you and your family can be seated. Your kids are tired, grumpy and hungry. Defeated, you drag your family to the nearest fast food restaurant and order hotdogs.

This scenario could all have been avoided with the help of a travel agent, a little planning, and one simple phone call!

Unfortunately if you do not do a little bit of planning, your princess will not be able to eat with princesses. Magic does require a little elbow grease!

But luckily, now you know. And knowing is half the battle.

Did you know you can book a reservation to Walt Disney World for the next year starting at the end of this year? Usually around September, Disney opens up bookings for the next year. So if someone wants to spend Christmas 2013 at Disney, they can book that trip starting around September 2012.

Here's another scenario for you:
It's November 1st, 2012. You think, gee, it'd be nice to spend Christmas at Walt Disney World with my family. You look into reservations. However, all resorts are completely booked. What should you do?? Start planning that lovely Christmas with your family for NEXT year!

With Disney always think the phrase "Early is the new on time". The earlier you start planning, the more magical and pain-free you vacation can be. You will be able to get everything you want (which means no disappointed princesses in the family!)
