SHE may be part of one of the world's most famous families, but Victoria Beckham is still impressed by other high-profile broods. The designer took her children to visit Justin Bieber's studio for son Cruz's birthday and the teen star sweetly sent the boys signed guitars afterwards - one of which was incorrectly addressed to Pax, the name of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son.The mother of four says that, on the whole, family life in the Beckham household is like any other - with the children often sleeping in their parents' bedroom.
"They cuddle up like little peas in a pod," she said, "but only on a non-school night."
"Or when Mummy's had a glass of wine," added David.
Despite her busy home life, the designer also recently attracted a new fan in another famous mum - Beyoncé, who wore one of her spring/summer 2012 dresses to a Michelle Obama fundraiser this week.
"I was very excited when I saw it online - I screamed and said, 'David, look!' Beyoncé is absolutely beautiful and has the most phenomenal body," Beckham told US television show Extra. "I'm a huge Beyoncé fan, so it was big for me."As successful as she now is, Beckham said that her label's new looser silhouette reflects a change in own mindset.
"At first, I wanted clothes that people would associate with me," she explained. "I was probably a little bit more self-conscious then - I was afraid to wear things that weren't super-super-tight. In those days, I wore a lot of corsetry. That was a sign of my own insecurities. By season three or four, I started doing a lot more research about things that I didn't like. And I started challenging myself. Now that I feel more confident, creatively I feel more satisfied. It doesn't have to be tight. I love working with volume and draping away from the body."
Another time Beckham felt insecure about her body was at the royal wedding in April last year, when she was pregnant with her daughter, Harper.
"First, obviously, we were very, very excited," she recalled, before adding, "What do you wear to the biggest wedding ever - when you're enormously pregnant?"The designer was last year given the British Fashion Awards' 2011 Best Designer Brand accolade, presented to her by Marc Jacobs. Beckham looked visibly moved during her acceptance speech, thanking her family for all their help.
"When they read my name, I literally felt like my heart was going to jump out of my body," she said, explaining that the honour meant more to her than her numerous Spice Girl musical achievements. "I'm so appreciative of my past. I respect all the girls and really enjoyed what I did then, but this is what I love to do. I didn't plan on getting up in front of the whole British fashion industry and not keeping my cool, but I was overwhelmed; I cried three times."

"Sometimes when I get into bed at night I say 'Is it OK if I call you Simon?' The first few times she didn't mind, but then she's wearing the mask."It seems that Cowell doesn't mirror the comedian's affection though.
"My mum and dad had a dachshund dog, as he got a bit older he used to sort of get on my leg occasionally and sort of hump my leg and I'd go: 'Go on Lottie, just go away.' KATE MOSS says that Johnny Depp was quite the gentleman when they dated in 1997, recalling how he used to insist that she always stayed with him at his grand hotel in Paris - rather than her own less glamorous city flat.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN is set to open a new menwear store on London's Savile Row this September. The boutique will also offer a made-to-measure service with Savile Row tailor Huntsman.
"As our business has expanded, we now need more stores to introduce the different collections," said McQueen president and chief executive Jonathan Akeroyd. "Savile Row is special as it is where Lee started his career so it is a nice thing to be going back. Our womenswear has grown in the higher-end luxury sector and we wanted to take menswear back there too. We are working with tailor Huntsman to create top-quality bespoke."
The British brand, which currently has one London flagship, will further broaden its empire with planned stores opening in Paris, Shanghai and Miami later this year - the Evening Standard reports.
It has already been a busy year for the label, which showed its McQ autumn/winter 2012-13 collection on the catwalk for the first time in February. The label will unveil its new McQ boutique in London this spring, as previously reported.

ALONG with many of his designer peers, from Christopher Kane to Marc Jacobs, Erdem has been mooted for the Dior job - but he refuses to be drawn into fashion's ongoing pressure on young designers to leave their labels and join established fashion houses.
"Anything like that is a compliment," the designer told us last night, "but you just have to concentrate on your job and what you're doing."Speaking after a "nerve-wracking" Royal College of Art public talk with Colin McDowell - as part of the Fashion Fringe Roadshow - the designer offered an insight into his background, his time at the RCA and why he, very sadly, won't be launching a high street collection any time soon.
"It's never been the right moment," said Erdem. "If it works for some people, then that's wonderful - but it depends on where you're at. For me, it's really important to concentrate on your collection and your own work. Once you start looking at versions of your work, it can get a bit dangerous. One can do it really well and in an interesting way though."Upon leaving the Royal College of Art, the London-based designer moved to New York where he worked as a design assistant at Diane von Furstenberg. A year later he returned to London to launch his own label and a few months later, in September 2005, he won the Fashion Fringe prize. He has built up an impressive roll call of celebrity fans, from the Duchess of Cambridge to Michelle Obama, but it's the broadness of his work's appeal that really excites him.
"I'm really lucky - and it's a real compliment - that women of all ages wear my clothes," he said. "Michelle Obama wore one skirt of mine about five years ago and I am still associated with that and that's wonderful. When I started at the RCA I never thought I'd be doing things like that."
Now known as one of London's best-loved and most talented designers (there aren't many women who would pass up the chance to wear one of his beautifully printed, feminine dresses), what advice would he given his younger self?
"I'd say, 'everything will be ok.' I worried so much - I'm a real worrier," he admitted. "I'd tell everyone actually that they're going to be ok, actually more than ok - they'll be amazing."

RIHANNA is turning her hand to design again, this time for her own label. The Vogue cover girl, who created a line for Emporio Armani last November after modelling denim and lingerie for the label, admitted that - along with her new career in acting - it was something she was seriously considering.
"I'm really pursuing a fashion line of my own," she told Ryan Seacrest. "I want to design. This is also a road that I want to earn it. So I'm working with designers. Designers that I respect, and companies that I respect. I want people to really trust me before I just say 'Buy it, because it's mine.'"
Rumours that the singer-turned-actress is set to design a collection for River Island emerged earlier this month, after she was spotted in the high street label's London HQ - although a spokesperson told us the visit was for personal rather that business reasons.

CLARE WAIGHT KELLER was fearless enough to leave a role that she'd held for six years, as creative director of Pringle, to take on the challenge of replacing Hannah MacGibbon at the helm of iconic French label Chloe in 2011 - but the designer has revealed that even she had some moments of self-doubt.
"My first Chloe collection was scary, because there's a lot of anticipation," she said. "I'd really only been here for six to eight weeks, and I was taking things home at the weekend and wondering, 'Am I doing this right?' It was an intense six weeks of reworking. Now I feel, 'Ok, I've got a few new reference points that are going to become mine, and a few old ones that I'll put a new spin on,' but it's a difficult time for designers. You're always toying with, 'Is this new enough? Have I seen this before? Is this right for women as well as the brand?'"
And she reveals that her reception as a designer wasn't the only scary part of her new role.

"I don't have that many fears - I left home at 17 - but moving my family here for this has brought more fear than everything, because I'm putting them into a situation that's being created by me but has a huge effect on them," she told the Financial Times. "They don't have the confidence to speak French, which is the same problem I have."

DAVID BECKHAM has admitted that he recalls his older fashion choices with a certain amount of trepidation.
"I look back on some stuff and think I can't believe I actually wore that," he said. "I have no regrets, though - I knew at the time it was good! Me and Victoria wore matching black leather outfits once. They were Versace. But that's one when I look back and am like, 'What were we thinking?' We laugh about that one. I remember that it's really good until you do it as a couple."The football star-cum-designer says that, aside from banning his three sons from following in his footsteps and having any tattoos until they're 18 ("it really hurts"), he no longer offers his children fashion advice.
"I used to try to dress them up, but now they want to wear their own things," he told H&M's US magazine. "Brooklyn will just wear his soccer shirts and T-shirts, but Romeo is the fashion one, so he'll go for skinny jeans and a vintage T-shirt and funny hats. One Christmas he asked for pair of Spats shoes. And now the youngest Cruz is hitting it right as well. He loves Justin Bieber, so anything he's got Cruz wants."Like his son, Romeo, Beckham's own fascination with style started at an early age and he recalls a wedding he went to as a child.
"I was a pageboy and had a choice between wearing some boring old suit or a pair of knickerbockers with ballerina tights and slippers," he said. "So I went with the tights. It's not that I always wanted to be different, but I knew what I liked."

SIMON SPURR has left his eponymous label. The British menswear designer co-founded his New York-based brand with partner Judd Nydes in 2006 and was nominated for the CFDA's 2012 Menswear Designer of the Year award just last week.
"At this moment, I'm not at liberty to say anything about what's gone on," he told WWD in an email.
Spurr started his design career at Middlesex University, before landing his first job at Yves Saint Laurent - where he created menswear under Hedi Slimane. He went on to work as head of menswear for ck Calvin Klein and in 2003 joined Ralph Lauren as director of the brand's Red and Purple labels. Spurr launched his own brand in 2006, beginning with denim before launching men's and sportswear. In November 2010, the designer was named creative consultant for Tommy Hilfiger's menswear division - a post he still holds.

VOGUE cover girl Rihanna has explained why she decided to get involved with Kony 2012 - a campaign aiming to raise international awareness of the Ugandan Lord's Resistance Army head Joseph Kony, in order to increase chances of his arrest. The star was made an official poster girl for the movement earlier this month and has since tweeted about its promotional film, directed by Jason Russell, helping it to go viral.
"I'm trying to get the word out and to spread the word, because the foundation is so driven by youth, their enthusiasm and their stand in things that aren't ok," Rihanna said. "In America, we see things that are so foreign to us, but have been going on in other countries for quarter of a century. We have freedom, but that freedom shouldn't be a luxury - it's a right. I'd love to be an outlet and to spread the word even if it's just to my 14 million fans on Twitter."
Launched as part of the Invisible Children initiative, the Kony 2012 film aims to help the public become aware of Joseph Kony - who stands accused of 12 counts of crimes against humanity, including enslavement and sexual enslavement, and 21 counts of war crimes, such as forced enlistment of children and inducing rape. Kony - who is thought to have abducted hundreds of African children, turning the boys into child soldiers and treating girls as sex slaves - is currently in hiding as US-backed Ugandan military services attempt to find him. Other stars to show their support for the cause include Angelina Jolie and George Clooney.
"I want to get my hands really dirty with that project," Rihanna told Access Hollywood. "I'm planning on going to Uganda later this year, even if it's just for a day or two, to spend some time with the victims and suss out the whole situation. Invisible Children have also reached out to me to do a film and that's something I'd love to do. That's why I really want to go to Uganda, I really want to make something that's fresh, that's mine, that's powerful and that speaks to the youth and the people of the world."

ALEXA CHUNG could well have been a full-time designer - she applied to study at internationally renowned college Central Saint Martins when she was a teenager. In addition to modelling, writing and television presenting, the Vogue cover girl has previously designed for US store Madewell.
"But I didn't get in," she said. "So I feel a bit jealous of [design students], like I want to join in. I should've done this. I'm from a family of designers, so this feels very natural to me. And I veered into TV, but always end up in fashion one way or another. I suppose, even though I didn't get in to Saint Martins, I managed to leapfrog the process."
Now a British Fashion Council young ambassador and British Designers Collective spokesperson, Chung's impact on the fashion world is undeniable - although, she says, such power does have its downfalls.
"So I'm told about the influence I have, but it's not me - it's Alexa Chung," she told the Observer. "It does make it difficult to shop, though. I walk around thinking, 'everything's a bit samey.' Then I realise that the stuff I think is samey - like the saturation of Peter Pan collars - comes from me."

"When I design a dress I never know who is going to wear it or for which occasion," Rich told us. "This event was almost unimaginable for me, but it happened. It is something absolutely magical about my job and that's why I love it. It is difficult to hide my enthusiasm; I'm very happy Samantha Cameron chose a dress from my spring/summer 2012 Vegas collection for such an important occasion. Scott recounted the downside to her height as a teenager, saying she had to beg her mother to buy her two pairs of jeans so that she could cut the bottoms off of one pair and sew them onto the other the extend the leg length to fit her.Yesterday saw Scott in conversation with VOGUE.COM editor Dolly Jones, an event hosted by Joan Burstein in her South Molton Street boutique, Browns. The designer spoke of her life and career - from growing up in Utah to gracing the Chanel catwalk and later becoming a designer whose pieces are worn by the world's biggest stars on the red carpet. Despite her extraordinary height and beauty, modelling was never something Scott particularly wanted to pursue, claiming she was "never great at being objectified", and that design was always her ambition.
As a child "obsessed with fashion" she would scout out second-hand stores to find vintage designer pieces that she could take apart and reconstruct to make new garments, and pore over Vogue and Butterick patterns. Leaving home for Paris at 18 to model, she was first spotted by Bruce Weber and went on to walk for a host of esteemed labels, including Chanel - an experience that made her feel like a "deer in the headlights." She later became a respected stylist and costume designer, and even worked with the legendary Richard Zanuck on the production of the 72nd Academy Awards ceremony.
She launched her own label in 2006, introducing her now-famous Headmistress dress - which has been worn by the likes of Madonna, Michelle Obama and Angelina Jolie - and is reproduced each season in a new fabric and colour.
"I wanted to create things that you can always pull out of your closet and rely on. I wanted to create a timeless, classic collection of clothing that you can keep expanding on," said Scott of her designs yesterday.
