Recently, Devito's name has been on the rise and scouts have noticed his great skill. He recently was invited to the Elite 11, a prestigious camp in which the nations top quarterback recruits compete and show their skills to the nation and other scouts. Trent Dilfer, a former NFL quarterback and Super Bowl Champion, called Devito a great surprise and showed the nation he has what it takes to be a successful collegiate quarterback. This gives Syracuse great hope for the coming future in hopes to bring back winning football to a historic program.

Tommy Devito drops back for a pass at the Elite 11 camp

Gilmore or Tyrod

Tough decisions lie ahead for the Buffalo Bills organization in the coming future. The Bills must decide on keeping one of two great players in next years off season since the team is unable to afford both due to the NFL's salary cap. Most Bills fans will say keep Tyrod and heres why. Tyrod Taylor has the chance to be the Bills next franchise quarterback, something the Bills haven't experienced in almost two decades. The NFL is a quarterback driven league so a solid player at that position is essential and could help the team make the playoffs for the first time in what seems to be forever. The other side of the story is to keep Stephon Gilmore, a proven star that was drafted by the Bills. Some may say that since Tyrod still has yet to prove himself in the league, the team should keep the proven corner for the defense for years to come. This debate is just the beginning for the Bills and the decision wont be an easy one.

Buffalo Bills quarterback Tyrod Taylor

Bye Malachi

Malachi Richardson celebrates after hitting a three against Virginia

After a streaky and inconsistent 2015 season, Malachi Richardson has told NBA scouts that he plans on keeping his name in the NBA draft. The 6'5 shooting guard out of New Jersey has a jump shot NBA teams salivate over, but lacks in other abilities shooting guards need in the NBA. His athletic ability is to be desired for the NBA level. His lack of agility and quickness will become a problem for him on the defensive end, along with his ball handling on the offensive end. He must improve those skills to prove to NBA scouts he has what it takes. Most of Syracuse's basketball fans are obviously upset about his decision, but its Malachi's decision to make. Even though he may have benefited his ability if he were to stay one more year, it's his future not ours. We can only hope Malachi has a great career in the NBA.

Syracuse Lands PG John Gillon

Colorado State graduate transfer John Gillon has made his decision on where he will play in his final year of eligibility. In a decision that had three teams, Syracuse , Texas A&M, and Oklahoma, John Gillon has decided to play for Syracuse. This addition will help the teams depth at point guard this up coming season. He has the ability to shoot the ball along with his athletic ability will elevate Syracuse's offense. He will play point guard next year along with Franklin Howard and Tyus Battle. In 2015, Gillon averaged 13.2 ppg and 3.8 assists, good numbers that will increase while he plays for Syracuse.

John Gillon, Colorado State transfer

The Rise of Starlin Castro

Starlin Castro in his first season as a Yankee

Over the offseason, the New York Yankees were in need of a solid second baseman. The Yankees struggled to find the answer at second base after Robinson Cano left the team to join the Mariners. They tried a veteran by the name of Stephen Drew last season, which ended up being a complete failure. He failed to maintain a .200 batting average the entire season, which speaks for itself. The Yankees knew an upgrade was in need so they ended up trading with the Chicago Cubs for their second baseman, Starlin Castro. Castro is a major upgrade for the Yankees. Thus far in the season he has provided an offensive punch the Yankees needed. The team when for a wild journey to the Final Four in Houston. Their journey was cut short from a championship when they ran into the brick wall known as North Carolina. Next season has great potential and what I believe, could be a championship caliber team. Syracuse will add two new freshman who will make an instant impact. Here is how I think both incoming freshman will impact Syracuse basketball.

Both Tyus Battle and Matthew Moyer won the prestigious award for best basketball player in their respective states. Tyus Battle is a very interesting prospect. His size and athletic ability is unmatched by anybody on the current roster at the guard position. He also has the ability to shoot the ball, which allows him to have a more dynamic offensive game. In my opinion, Tyus has the potential to be a one and done player and if guard Malachi Richardson stays for his sophomore season, could be a lethal combination.

Matthew Moyer plays the forward position, a position in which Syracuse needs more depth at. He plays more of a small forward position due to his size and skill set. His ability to take opponents off the dribble is impressive for his size at 6'8. His quickness and his ball handling skills are above average. Moyer and Tyler Lydon should make for an interesting combo next season.

Tyus Battle, Syracuse upcoming freshman, brings the ball up the court

Tyrod Taylor's 2015 Season

In the 2015-2016 season, Tyrod blew up. He played better than many of the quarterbacks in the league. He is known for his duel threat ability and his great flare when he is on the field. His play turned many heads. He played like a ten year veteran showing great poise. He finished the season with only six interceptions. This statistic is very promising since this was his first year starting on an NFL team. This shows he is smart with his decisions and proves he has a great ability to not make mistakes. His play this year earned him a spot on the 2016 Pro Bowl team, Buffalo's first pro bowl quarterback in many years. His play earned him the honor of being the starting 2016-2017 quarterback for the Buffalo Bills.

The Buffalo Bills have struggled mightily finding their franchise quarterback for over a decade. They've gone through quarterbacks by the names of Trent Edwards, J.P Losman, Ryan Fitzpatrick, and last but not least their 2013 draft bust EJ Manuel. Over the 2015 off season, Buffalo was prepared to continue searching for even a mediocre quarterback to manage the team. Two quarterbacks were on their mind to lead the team this season. Matt Cassel was thought to win the quarterback position battle over EJ Manuel. While these two quarterbacks were being talked about, the team quietly signed quarterback Tyrod Taylor. Tyrod Taylor was thought to be signed as the backup or third string but mid way through summer practices he began to turn heads. He began to out perform both Manuel and Cassel surprisingly. A week prior to the season opener, Coach Rex Ryan named Tyrod the starting quarterback of the season. This was the beginning of the Tyrod Taylor era in Buffalo.

Syracuse Basketball's 2015 Freshman

Syracuse Basketball's three freshman, Tyler Lydon, Malachi Richardson, and Franklin Howard have shown great promise in their first season with the Cuse. All three freshman have proved that they belong in one of the toughest conferences in America, the ACC.

Malachi Richardson is the star of this group. He has shined under pressure. For example, against Virginia Tech, he hit a step back three with a hand in his face to help close out the game in overtime. His heroics have helped Syracuse win on their current hot streak, winning 7 of their last 8 games. Malachi has scored consistently scoring on a pace of 14 ppg, which leads this group of freshman.

Tyler Lydon has been a very pleasant surprise for Syracuse. The 6'9 forward has played exceptionally well for not playing his natural position. He has had to fill the roll as backup center for Dajuan Coleman. Lydon also has very deceptive bounce and a very fluid three point shot which has helped Syracuse spread their offense. The only problem Lydon has had is that he doesn't shoot enough. He is very efficient when it comes to scoring. He averages about 9 points a game and almost 7 rebounds a game. He shoots at a high percentage at around 47 percent. These characteristics make Lydon a very versatile player which allows him to play multiple positions.

The raw point guard Frank Howard, out of Virginia, has great potential. His statistics don't necessarily jump off the page but the little things that don't show on the stat sheet is impressive. He sees the floor with great vision. His passing ability is unmatched by everyone on the team, which is impressive since he is a freshman. His ability hasnt gone unnoticed. Jim Boehiem has placed him above the starting point guard last season, Kaleb Joseph. He shows great promise to be the starting point guard in the 2016-2017 season.
