7. North Indian will stop vying for Indian Government jobs and all Indian will stop vying for State Government jobs. Same goes to municipal jobs. And all those jobs will pay more salaries to attract recruits.
6. Jail will be filled with poor uneducated criminals and rich Government workers that did not get the memo.
5. Millions of Indians will figure out where the courthouse is. They will also find out that parking and other basic amenities in courthouses are woefully inadequate. Tips: Use the restroom before you leave for court and find nearby restaurants with good food and good restrooms.
4. Knowing a politician will become much more important. You can still get a politician to speak on your behalf by campaigning for him.

In what has become an annual tamasha, British government sends "aid" to India and the fiscal conversatives (and other forms of conservatives) in Britain complain. Here's an idea. How about India asking Britain to stop the aid? The time for such matters is long gone! Instead, get the money back from the Swiss banks where the politicians have hidden the sweat and toil of millions of Indians. Notice the extreme efficiency of our political bureaucracy in terms of "receiving" aid and the utter ineptitude in sending a formal request for Swiss assets of corrupt Indians. India does not need alimony any more, Indian children are quite capable of taking care of Mother India.

Even the Egyptians did it in a couple of days. Now that the Swiss boat in sinking, the Indian politician rats will take the cheese elsewhere pretty quick. Then, miraculously, our "official" request will be made correctly and nothing will be found. The question to ask should be "Who has or had Swiss accounts and what was the amount?"

Now the whole kitchen sink is being thrown at Lalit Modi. Looks like Sharad Pawar has provided the sacrificial lamb to Congress party, probably in exchange for protection of his own bank account. While Shashi Tharoor will be happily claiming his innocence and Pushkaring away, Modi will be in a neighborhood prison soon. At this point, this has degenerated into politicians saving their skins. And providing a lesson to people that expose the functioning of the Great Congress party of Mahatma Gandhi in any way. The IPL can easily become a casualty, similar to how India is a casualty while politicians shore up their bank accounts while wearing their spotless whites and crooked smiles. I doubt there will be a fourth season.

Knowing how the Indian corruption system works, Lalit Modi will be eased out of his job soon. An MP like Shashi Tharoor cannot pull the strings that caused the initial auction to be cancelled, there are bigger fish in this murky pond. Those folks are not happy that Shashi Tharoor was outed; now the income tax department will find thousands of irregularities in Modi's bank account. I hope Sharad Pawar is still on Modi's side. If he is not, Modi may be out even before the third season of IPL is over. Hopefully is was the NCP leader Sharad Pawar that asked Modi to out the Congress leadership group that was trying to take over an IPL franchise.

That particular Congress leadership group has already made it's move. Modi will now be labeled as a tax cheat and kicked out and will probably end up in jail for a short period. The Delhi franchise that is close to Modi is already in trouble; they have already been hit with crores of tax liabilities and fines. The tax system is India is a complete joke; it will now take around 20 years for these folks to prove their innocence. At which point, they will get their money back, without any interest.

Hopefully this particular shadow group is not bigger than Pawar; at this point, it does look like these are really big politicians dragging Modi to the ground. Sharad Pawar will get his revenge during the next set of Maharashtra elections. The IPL will go on without Lalit Modi, but it will just not be the same sense of adventure and excitement.

Wonder what the replay umpire saw! Collingwood was clearly notout, and the umpire kicked him out quickly. Real bad third umpiring! The legs were definitely in the air as the ball touched his hands. Since he was coming in from the boundary, that was a six. The commentators seem to influence the third umpire. The KKR folks seem to have mastered the art of claiming the catch; David Warner was almost a victim earlier.

Looks like America is making some good gains against the Taliban. Pakistan has been happy to "eat up" the money and provide "assistance" until now. Now that the end game is near and Taliban is getting decimated, they want to "mediate" with what is essentially their hand in the pot.

The US has been pretty gullible and they will surely fall for this trick too. Maybe they are not too gullible; a fighting China/India/Pakistan without the US anywhere near the region is probably good for them in the long run. India will surely have a much stronger and willing to fight enemy after the Afghans go back to proxy Pakistani rule after the US departure. Any hope of education and progress that Indians have bought to Afghanistan will be quickly snuffed out by the next Pakistani puppet regime in Afghanistan. Well to do neighbors don't go well with fanatic poverty and misery.

The increase in suicides in India, especially after the movie "3 idiots" is discouraging. The actual death suicide is not damaging, the other suicide attempt where the guy miraculously survives without any mental issues or no head trauma to himself is the one causing all the problems. And in a movie where "All iz well", the guys try to go the other way quite frequently and the central character is breaking the law by being an imposter.

One solution to the problem(something that happens in the USA) is to make private and public education equally expensive, whether you are in a government college or not, for middle class families and above. That way, parents do not have the carrot of free education dangling in front of them and they do not flog the kids in turn. Scholarships should be given only to the academically or athletically brilliant, which in turn would allow kids the option of excelling in sports. The whole problem is that the cheap education of government college is making monsters out of parents and they start early in their insults to their children. The movies gives these kids some easy ways out of the pressure cooker situations out of which they do not see escapes.

The pressure is not needed. Infact, you prevent the kid from having any managerial aptitude down the line due to the psychological damage that is inflicted on the kid.

We were right about the funny logic of Pakistan where it was ceding territory to terrorists and marking the spot with an X. Now they are attacking those spots themselves and will get tens of billions of dollars from the US government to improve it's "fighting capabilities" to fight those pesky terrorists. At about 100 million dollars per killed terrorist, we have the praise the folks who are doing the cost - benefit analysis here. A Pakistani terrorist killed by Pakistan in Pakistan is yielding a higher return for Pakistan than a Pakistani terrorist killed in India.

The next Pakistan initiated war will not go as smoothly as Kargil now. There will be much more to pay for India as all the US technology and logistical expertise pours in Pakistan. Not a bad deal for US too; India and Pakistan will continue to be locked in a death embrace much like the British had planned and hoped we would, pre-independence. One less potential superpower to worry about for the rest of the world.

India can only hope for the best and continue to be vigilant. And upgrade it's own capabilities in a non-corrupt fashion to match all the new US gizmos that would be hanging off a Pakistani soldier the next time they foray into India with renewed confidence and technology.

US can easily track that all the money they give to Pakistan to fight terrorists is going into the nuclear weapons enrichment program. Pakistan is probably betting that the US does not care and they are probably right. The billions will continue to flow in and the Pakistani military will continue to use that money to send their sons to US colleges and to buy weapons that can be used to fight the Indian army.

Old or pedophile sheikhs rent hospitals instead of hotels and then get "married" via local agents, have sex with minor girls and "divorce", all in the comfort of their hospital bed. Poor and unscrupulous muslims know that they can sell their daughters this way for some quick cash.

Jaslok hospital in Mumbai serves as the main "hospital" for these sheikhs. Hyderabad is another major area where these shiekhs arrive for pleasure.

Added later: Sharad Pawar is still in Congress alliance, but has done enough maneuvering to become PM if the opportunity presents itself. Taliban is murdering it's way to Islamalabad and it is out of the reach of drones due to fears of collateral damage. The puppet Pakistani government is watching the Taliban mayhem with concealed glee and fake outrage. The IPL is now in South Africa, but at times designed for an Indian audience.

Now that Sharad Powar is out of Congress, there should be no expectation of extra security. This year, the IPL should go on with normal security and with Indian players. Some foreign players will drop off and there will be many more available to fill up the spots. There will be overseas revenue losses as pay per view viewers are just not sure if the events will take place or not. So the organizers have to come out with positive statements soon.

It does not pay to act as if India is a part of Pakistan in matters of security and well-being. The terrorists may be a great threat, but don't expect things to get better next year or the year after that. Thanks to the drones, terrorists have moved their business to places that are more crowded. They do not risk being killed by a missile, where hiding behind women and children does not work.

The current Pakistani government should be able to sputter on for another six months or so before one more merciful intervention from the military, with support from America.

India has to be more worried about the Pakistan/America nexus in the long run. When the Americans and Russian left Afghanistan last time, Afghanistan turned into a living hell. All those terrorist cowards may flock towards Indian borders for more security and to avoid being "droned" to death this time around.

The American policy is veering dangerously close to the Pakistani policy towards terrorists: "Don't bother us and we will praise you and even protect you. We will not call you enemies and will give you back your "dignity" ". Apparently this is working in Iraq. Americans do not seem to understand the power of their own dollars and they are mistaking bribery for cooperation. Just like they thought these same terrorists were freedom fighters the last time they were around these areas. They want to revert back to the same philosophy as it will protect US citizens at the cost of a few dollars.

This is a great policy for US citizens, but at the cost of blood of Indian citizens as terrorists are being given every incentive to move out of the Afghanistan border so that "success" can be declared. Hopefully India will take some steps to protect it's own interests and avenge the terror attack on Mumbai in the process.

World's problem, Pakistan.....

For a lot of Pakistanis, this is actually a source of pride. They were merely India's and Afghanistan's problem with their wide assortment of "freedom fighters" and merciless killers. Now they have ambitions of killing Sri Lankans, Americans and other assorted Europeans.

The Pakistani media have now seamlessly moved from "We are not the problem" to "This is the world's problem". The lack of responsibility is appaling, but understandable; as any conscentious voice will be gunned down pretty quick, given the total breakdown of law and order in that country. The Pakistani media is speaking in wide hyperboles about how "the innocence has been lost" in the recent cricket attacks. They lost their innocence long ago by paying reverence to violent people and calling them martyrs and heroes.

Terrorism is a business and an economic activity and so these terrorists will not lay down their guns and go back to being watchmen. So Pakistanis will get to enjoy the feeling of being the "innocent victims" for quite some time time, a feeling they so gleefully heaped on their neighbors by harboring a cancer that has now turned on itself.

There are big concerns for India down the line. Once America loses its interest in Afghanistan, the now American trained Pakistan military(and their close relatives, the terrorists) will come back with renewed vengeance to their favorite playing grounds of India and Afghanistan.

What can you do to fight terrorists?

Surprisingly, a lot. As terrorists get bolder and bolder and more delusional, it is time to give them a reality check. Terrorists can never stop and will simply move on to the next target after one disappears. For example, terrorists elements within Sunnis go after Shias if they run out of other groups to hate on.

Here are the steps.
1> There are quite a few people, especially in the US, middle east and UK, that say, "We just send money to terrorist groups to get revenge". Report these people to authorities. Money is what drives terrorism.
2> Keep an eye out for people that have uncontrolled rage against other groups out of nowhere. These are the kind of people targeted for recruiting and action. Again, watch for the word "revenge". Report them directly or anonymously.
3> Watch out for people that say that terrorists are only against government and not the people. These are the people most likely to fund terrorists. Report them directly or anonymously.
4> You are likely to hear such words mostly from friends or other that share a common religious or ethnic background. Report them directly or anonymously. Terrorists are not followers of God, they are the devil incarnate. Hateful conversations from any religious group is bad.
5> Do not donate to charities unless you are absolutely sure what they do. Donate to Prime Minister or Chief Minister relief funds when in doubt.
6> Do not carry money on behalf of others when visiting India or Pakistan. Unaccounted money often ends up in the wrong hands.
7> Do not use hawala or unofficial channels to transmit money. The underworld fanatics get a cut out of those transactions.
8> Do not do unofficial bets on cricket games. Corrupt cricket officials get a cut out of those transactions and they are tied to extortion/terrorist groups. BTW, Pakistan will have a spectacular defeat soon just to mess up the spread, now that Javed Mian gets to select the whole team.(And here it is)
9> Walk away from conversations that are hateful. Terrorism begins in the intelligent mind and get implemented by mindless moron. Sindhi master, Punjabi blaster. (Reference: Mad Max movies)
10> Be the possibility of peace and harmony. This is the most important step. Ofcourse, kill a terrorist before he can do harm. But be an incarnation of peace otherwise.

Raj Thackeray celebrates a Hindi birthday.

Was it Uddhav's birthday recently? I can understand why Raj Thackeray does not want to put his brother's name on the birthday cake, given that Uddhav has his own party. But why not have "भाऊ" on the birthday cake instead of "भय्या"? For someone who wants to pull down banners in other languages, this was a definite lack of discipline.

Of course, we do not want to accuse the party spokesperson of lying and we want to believe that it was a dear brother's birthday. You usually put own loved one's name on birthday cakes for birthdays.

But I have a feeling that the party spokesperson is lying and talking in conceit. Indians should not take this action lying down. If there is one thing history has thought us, even a tyrant like Hitler began with small steps. The baby steps are intended to break the will of the oppressed and also turn silent supporters into more vocal supporters of hatred and divisiveness. We can now safely assume that this party's agenda is ethnic hatred.

Funny how good words end up with bad meaning. It is the turn of Bhaiyya now. Thirty years ago, it was "Anna", a revered word in Marathi's south Indian heritage, but reviled as a reference to those dark Mariatta worshipping Madrasis. There is a similar reference in South African history. South Indian migrants(slaves?) called their masters "Saamy" (meaning lord, master). The South African masters called them a Bloody Saamy right back.

Cricket politics

Here's a BCCI quote.

"We are disappointed by this move from Sri Lanka," Niranjan Shah, the BCCI secretary, told Cricinfo. "We will now refer the matter to the ICC, which is already debating the issue of unauthorised cricket." If that is unauthorized cricket, what about the charity match played by some Indian cricketers right in the middle of a one day series? Just proves the point that BCCI can pretty much do whatever it wants, including risking player safety and health to have them play cricket in your political backyard.

Just because the BCCI uses money from Cricket to build gyms for fat politicians in Delhi does not make them the guardians of authorized cricket. Cricket can be played by anyone. If the BCCI wants to take it's revenge, it can continue to do that. But it should stop acting like a priest that condemns all activities not purified by its political presence.

Ofcourse this edifice will come down after Congress loses it's power in elections. Right now, this is probably the top reason as to why the Congress government should be kicked out. Dabbling in cricket politics is not cricket and their wicket should be uprooted just for this reason.

For all of us who have lived in a free country for 60 years, we tend to not comprehend the meaning of freedom. It becomes apparent only when we see examples of events that indicate a suppressed populace. Here is what China did to make sure that the Chinese look supreme at the Olympics opening ceremony. The 7 year old girl pictured below was deemed too ugly for the song she sang and was replaced by a 9 year old pretty girl.
A certain German individual had tried equally hard many years ago to look perfect during the Olympics. Hopefully the rest of history does not repeat itself. Because if it does, India would end up being the equivalent of France. Better to get ready, because this event does provide a deep insight into what passes for Chinese "pride".

Ram Setu back on the map

The Ram Setu project seems set to come off the back burner as a reward to the DMK for doing the right thing and standing by the Congress during the no confidence motion. It is a huge step in the right direction; people are dealing in the welfare of the country rather than cold cash.

Plus the Ram Setu area can be turned into a religious attraction that can be travelled to by open sea.

This is something that needs to be done to convert Tamil Nadu into a coastal business area similar to Mumbai. The people in the southern parts of Tamil Nadu stand to benefit the most from this.

Manmohan Singh, prime minister

There is a high probability that the current government will lose it's vote of confidence. And they would probably not mind it either as it would prove that they care for India more than any of the other parties. This also raises questions about states that are dominated by regional political groups; they do not have an interest in national level activities or are totally out of focus with the real India.

Hopefully some of the former opposition parties will join the coalition in sufficient numbers. India does not need an election and does not need a Prime Minister other than Dr. Manmohan Singh right now. And yes, the nuclear agreement has to be signed in the interests of stability in the region.

Corrupt sons of soil all over the Indian soil!

In a very convoluted way, Raj Thackeray is asking son of the soils not to be corrupt. By requesting them to not issue fake certificates in Maharashta. Domicile and ration card authorities earn millions of rupees during the medical and engineering admission process in India. People are ready to pay tens of thousands to avoid lakhs of capitation rupees in many cases.

But the paradox is that sons of the soil fight over these low paying jobs just for the corruption money. A municipal school teacher teaching English is there to take her daily rest and relaxation. Asking them to shape up is not going to cut it. If you want honest officials, you have to open these jobs to a merit based admission process and provide good salaries. And stop stuffing these posts with sons and daughters of the soil that happen to know some politically connected person.

The one good(?) thing about these corrupt officials is that they do not care as to who is on the other side of the table; Maharashtrian or outsider. If you do not have the proper documentation to get the certificates, you have to pay up even if your last name happens to be Mumbaikar, Nagarkar, Tendulkar, Agarkar or Wadkar. Paisa nikal, phir baat kar! Soil does not matter to these officials, only cold cash does. That is where the sons of soils all over the country get their percentage. And this is how the leaders of political parties get their riches too. Corruption begins at the top and percolates to the bottom.

Pakistan finds a terror fighting formula!

Pakistan has just found the solution to world terrorism. Now that Afghanistan, with US help, wants to do what Pakistan has been doing in Kashmir for 40 years, Pakistan almost sounds like India. They are having an epiphany about territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Afghanistan has been Pakistan's thrash dump for a long time. They unleashed the Talibs aka Taliban on Afghanistan years ago using their local Pashtun population and were proud of the end results. They are now turning a blind eye towards them within their own borders. Unfortunately for them, American eyes are sharper. Of course, nothing much is going to come of it. All the noise making will stop after the American elections are over.

Duh...Allow foreign retiring citizens to be in India...

Here is a crazy rule being enforced in India; retiring foreigners are not allowed to settle in India. With the globalization of Indian commerce (and way of living, to some extent), this will be the case often. Plus these retirees end up spending their dollars and pounds in India and contribute to the local economy.

Maybe there can be restrictions, but there cannot be a ban. I am guessing that this does not apply to persons of Indian origin. Because soon there will be tons of British and US citizens retiring back to India(and doing social work). Either way, retirees should not be stopped this way; maybe a new visa type can be arranged to take care of this.
