We have imported many different items and are happy to do so. Our passion however has been turned toward the hobby industry in a big way. It used to be just hardware and gifts, cell phone cases, batteries and led lights etc... Somehow that market has evolved into a model train and RC haven of sorts, with flying drones and battery powered cases leading the way. I predict that the niche market of trains will come out on top with fewer and fewer quality vendors.

Yeah, I am not a smoker. I have a cigar once every year while fishing. It is some sort of tradition to get the season started. I choke on most of it.
One of the best selling items I import is hand made pipes for smoking. The more intricate in carving the better. Some are made of unique types of wood and others of stone. The most important aspect is that they are well made, look good, and they sell. In fact, they retail from $25-$100 each. That makes a good profit for anyone who buys them from us. It does not take long to pay for itself. In fact one sale usually pays for the lot and the rest is bank!! So what do you do with acquired merchandise that is not newly imported? I think I have found a good alternate solution to that. There has always been Ebay for misc. items, but they charge premium for that and of course the pay-pal services. I utilize them for certain item and buyer types. But what do you do for those items that just don't fit but have great sales potential?

Exposure is important to various products. It also keeps us busy with constantly updating the look within the booth. Here is a new update on products only. Some of the items are estate type items, auction items and such. Other items are just rare finds and one off type of things like the Mickey Mantle youth photo and the Waverly Novels from the late 1800's

At the home front we also own a modest trade booth that we display various items. We decided to do this to keep our already busy schedule even busier. We find that this helps us to understand things better from a customers point of view as to what displays and sells well vs. what does not. Granted it is at a particular location and may not have the same results as another location due to area, culture and client tastes, but it does work for us. It completes the marketing package and provides a break from the normal routine and become merchandisers. We don't import anything that we would not be willing to sell in our own booth.
