Hail good females and fellows. So it has been weeks since my last post therefore I wanted to touch base with everyone on the progress being made. I am currently researching Quantum Computers for the next Tech Love article which, as you might have guessed already, is a very involved technology. There are many concepts that are new to me and maybe even a little bit above my pay grade. Nonetheless, I consider it my personal honor to delve into this emerging technology for the sake of an article.

Looking ahead: we will see what Quantum Mechanics has to do with Quantum Computers, discuss how binary will be a thing of the past, and hypothesize what it could mean for the industry, the consumer market as well as the average Joe/Jane. I hope that this article raises some questions and would love to hear any suggestions or questions that you fine folks might have.

To update my progress on FreeCodeCamp (FCC) I dashed through the first few sections and ran into a snafu when I got to the tribute page assignment. There was a small learning curve there that I needed to seek outside help with. God bless youtube instructional videos and the millions of dedicated contributors. Thanks to the "How to" genre of videos I was able to learn and better understand the differences between our interactive FCC module and the format that CodePen is using.

CodePen separates CSS, HTML, and JS coding whereas FCC handles it all in the same module. This was a stumbling block for me at first and once I realized that this was an oversite of mine I feared I was going to need to start back from the beginning a third time. Apropos I have discovered a magnificent video that raises this semi-genius's programming level!!! Woot woot! Level two obtained (tee hee) and I have now noticed, whilst writing this article in fact, that the course curriculum has been updated again. Thank you, Quincy, it is almost as if you know when I need a helping hand.

In my wild and crazy younger years I would have probably not seen the gift that this curriculum change provides. What once was viewed as a frustrating, undesired, and unexpected challenge in my path is now seen as the educating experience that makes my path so fruitful. Ooooo....snap! I think my wisdom has also leveled up! Anywho, these new assignments are an excellent opportunity for me to backtrack and uncover the differences in CSS, JS, and HTML that I had not fully appreciated. At the same time, I can stay updated on the new content posted by FCC.

Finally my fearless friends and foes, I have been working steadily on a lifelong project that I intend to bring to the World Wide Web very soon. This 25-year project is culminating into what should be the very first MMORPG-RTS fantasized simulator in its own unique world populated with all the world's mythological characters and creatures. The lands of Epimetheus contain 7 separate continents in an open sandbox world. Players will be able to choose between 42 distinct races, 36 unique classes, under any one of 120 different faith sets. Storylines will be player-driven and each server will have its own set of moderators and build its own diverse history.

Stay tuned for more information on this and other exciting updates. Only at SquiggleTech.blogspot.com

Beginnings can be so difficult, can't they? What is it about starting some thing that makes it so challenging? Is it the fear of the unknown? Uncertainty of direction or where to start? Whatever the case may be picking up where I left off on this blog has seemed equally excruciating.

But the torch must make its journey and I am eeking out some time to get the blog up to date. This means verifying active links as accurate, adding new content to cover the oodles of new software I have discovered and writing new articles on up-and-coming technologies. There are also a variety of page errors that I will be working to resolve.

In addition I will try to add content about my experiences with Free Code Camp. You will find a link to this amazing educational expedition under Code Assistance. Take the time to click the link and look into the opportunity. If you cannot find it to the right then just click this link -> [FreeCodeCamp]

That being stated it is time to add a little disclosure, gangnam style. I am always open to suggestions, articles from others and content from the audience. This will help to build a solid fan base, as well as offer opportunities to others out in the great world wide web. Managing a blog, enrolling into college, self educating myself in the wild plane of programming as well as maintaining some sort of social life parallel to meeting family needs can be a never-ending struggle and I pray that everyone will appreciate the challenges to come.

As alway all feedback, articles and content can be emailed to neoneumonic@gmail.com. Please include 'FEEDBACK ' in the subject so that I can differentiate it from junk mail.

Stay savage friends and remember to ask yourself: Can you Squiggle it?
Okay so I know that these blogs require constant attention and contributions to remain relevant and useful. However since my unfortunate divorce I have had little-to-no real free time. With the additional financial obligations and a higher level of community involvement time has been my most precious commodity.

But my dear friends and fans time continually ebbs forward and things will smooth out eventually. My commitment to this blog has not wavered. This blog is essentially an accumulation of my studies, passions and my future all rolled up into one. Not only am I trying to aide others with my inclinations but I am also building a future that places sharing knowledge as the highest priority.

As always I appreciate any input and I am always on the lookout for anyone who might want to contribute and/or become a vital permanent member of this movement. Education is a fundamental principle to my ideology of social responsibility, and I am always willing to be the student as much as I am the teacher, for one only stops learning when they stop listening.
National borders are dissipating, cultural differences are thankfully losing fervor and today's savvy citizens are asking their leaders more difficult questions than ever before. Our species and our world are evolving. Even our language continues to expand as quips like 'lol' and 'smh' shape our way of communicating and interacting.

So let us close the door and get intimate with a fast growing acronym: DIY (Do It Yourself). Tech Love

May, 2012

Amazing things come in small packages. For this month’s Tech Love article we will be
discussing the potential of some incredibly tiny dots. Not the kind of dots
that have you searching for the Shout, instead I am talking about a beautiful, young,
tiny technology that has my heart thumping and my palms sweating. Quantum Dots
are nanostructures of a semiconducting nature; effectively speaking they are like
microscopically small batteries and lights.

Without getting into the specifics of a field that requires
more game than Bernie Mac, let’s discuss the properties and its current
applications as we satisfy our love for knowledge. These dots store energy and
can omit them in different wavelengths based on their size. According to NanocoGroup PLC, a world leader in the
mass production of high quality quantum dots: “The smaller the dot, the closer
it is to the blue end of the spectrum, and the larger the dot, the closer to
the red end. Dots can even be tuned beyond visible light, into the infra-red or
into the ultra-violet.” [reference] This storage and delivery system allows for an amazing array
of applications, these dots are like the Kama-Sutra for energy storing and
delivery.

   Now I know you
neo-nerds are probably wanton to say: “So now that we have seen some of that
hot technological allure, please tell me how we can put it to use.” Well hold
onto your optical mouse this next peek at these dots potential is going to
drive you beyond control! The University of Buffalo has been studying the effects of quantum dots in the bloodstream of primates for
over a year.
This takes us yet another step closer to nanomeds becoming a reality. I simply
salivate at the idea of an injection of microscopic antibodies that could guarantee
a cancer-free life or heal a mortal wound before my very eyes! Now just imagine a world where you can rest easier knowing your child is unlikely to come home with scrapes and cuts that need tending!

While research is still being done on the many different ways that this technology can be implemented it is most commonly used in the production of various photovoltaic cells, which you might remember from our previous article. Photovoltaic Cells are used in the production of solar panels.

With the ability to produce thin malleable solar cells we can harness more of the sun's power in a variety of unique ways.

According to an article written by Gil Knier, this process of converting light into electricity was originally discovered by "a French physicist,
Edmund Bequerel, in 1839" (Article). Today there are "Third Generation Photovoltaic Cells" that open up a whole new realm of possibilities and applications. How about outdoor synthetic plants that collect solar energy and deliver it straight to your house? Just the artistic aspects of such a technology gets me excited. So while this emerging technology gets me all hot and sweaty with giddy excitement, it should easily spark a little flame of interest in even the desensitized, unresponsive, vegetative dweebs!
