my first poem - written on 21st june 2k6 though published too late. I dont like this poem while i m publishing it. i can make it better but who cares.. The fresh minds are good rather than the adulterated ones :)

Destiny

everything has ended.
i stared around
no one found
me,the only human between sky and ground

days past
weeks past
a month passed away

i was only one left on this lonely planet
where r all gone?
my depression took me to the woods
a weird place

heading nowhere
reaching somewhere
my destiny
i do not know where

days past
a week passed away
years passed

i am now tired of this search
my legs cant walk
my eyes cant see

then i found a small hut
as usual eager to explore it
headed forward
i found an old man ,
he was lying on a carpet which seemed yo be selfmade

"Come here" he said
i went towards him
he stood up
he took me to his fields

there were lush green crops
he showed me something usual,
nothing special.

he showed me a scare crow
i again did not know
what was going on.

he said "You are here because you are destined to be here
You are destined to meet me"

Look at the scare crow
Its job is to scare the crows
even if there are no crows it will stand here
DO ITS JOB.

Its recommended that you read the post below this first to get a feel of wat this is all about..

So can u make a guess wat happened..
Quick recap : i was off to home to cure my throat infection which had grown very acute ( even the intake of saliva pained a lot....) and cud hardly speak.
And i was supposed to sing for one of the bands at AD (* acoustic dusk *) @ IITB...

Wen at home somehow due to the gr8 medicines my throat was cured....Atleast now i can swallow my saliva !! phew !!
But there seemed to be no improvement in my voice....My vocal chords were angry with me. :(
i was very worried..
Next day i woke up ( yeah i did wake up ) at 5.45 am and after " taking bath " went to hostel ....as i hate bunking lectures when i cant get attendance without attending them :P
Only thing in my mind was what will i do today 6pm in AD..
What if i fail ? What if i cannot sing in front of others ? and all such sort of questions boggling my mind.....

Yeah the throat infection was least expected at such stage... x-(
That afternoon Akhil asked me to sing once in front of him....By that time i had some more fragment of my voice coming out...
I was able to sing but had difficulty of stretching on long lines...
He said " watever is the case , you will be singing ".
So at that point i made up my mind to do it....however bad i may sing....

We were the fourth one to perform ....In front of the lights i cud hardly anyone in the audience....The scene was completely black for me....
I introduced the band.....and then we started....I sung quite good ( in such a condition ).
I received various types of comments...but that hardly matters ....for at that point i was glad that i did sing.......

I learnt a lot from other singers and was a great experience with a seemingly fair start...

I always thought that i could become a good singer....
I too received the opportunity of singing in AD ( Acoustic Dusk @ IITB ) ..this takes place once a year....My friend cum wingie cum drummer ( Akhil ) helped me out by having me sing for their band...

I had to sing fade to black by Metallica (* FTB *) . During my first practice on this song i did it pretty well but had problems in matching scales with the rhythm guitartist (chinnu) mainly in the last few lines . To tell u some facts.... my hands shivered a lot while holding the mike and my legs too shivered and was feeling a bit more cold than usual ..... and i guess that does happen . At tht point i had a very weird feeling coz of 2 reasons mainly..viz...singing without mic and with mic is hell lot of different and if my hands are shivering in front of a team of four,wat will i do in front of 1000 ppl during AD..... !!phew!!

After tht akhil oferred me to sing Dance of death by Iron maiden (* DOD *).....this was way tougher than fade to black....Managing scales ,pitch was no longer easy for any part of the song....I tried a lot for 2 days.... this was the only song on my playlist in winamp for 2 days continuously....and i did it somewhat well....but again the difference made by mic made it uneasy for me ....I screwed it badly during our practice and felt very bad....i do not know wat went wrong but i screwed up the scale and pitch and lyrics completely.....as in it cant get any worse :( Thouroughly discouraged.and now it is just one day left for AD

Akhil wants me to sing or try for sweet child of mine...Difficult than FTB but quite simpler as compared to DOD....and i can almost sing it i guess ....

Tragic part -->

But m a bit sick since 4-5 days and now i have a throat infection over it :((
The throat infection has become so very acute ( 1 day remaining for AD ) that i can hardly talk....Now how m i supposed to sing ??

WAT NEXT ? ( i have no clue of wat is gonna happen tomorrow )

To avoid any confusion while reading this post refer to me as Zubin Mehta and the great music guy is termed Maestro Zubin Mehta

This write up is on my name and the pros and cons of having a name common to someone great .
The only thing good is you have a good name according to some and people look up at you as may be a wannabe great guy.
My name (in case u do not know..and still reading my blog :P) is "Zubin Mehta"

go find your answer ... search it on google....and the results are flooded by The Maestro Zubin mehta
some great musician....

even wen i tell my name to someone the first thing i encounter is are u in any way related to music ? do u play any instrument ? wat have u been upto ?? (naah.....)
and then " ohh..i tell u zubin mehta is simply a great musician." and much more senti following my very name itself.... huh ... they get a topic to start with...

Now wenever i tell my name to someone...i always expect tht Maestro zubin mehta to pop out in the discussion .... but wen i do not get the expected....its clear tht the person is not knowing Maestro Zubin Mehta
And then i m like " ohh... u do not know the great zubin mehta after whom my name was kept :P (well this is not the truth ; it was a mere coincidence ) "

But its not at all the case tht i do not like my name.....my name is great coz it sounds great :)
So where do i stand.......?is the question at this point

google is righteously the answer of almost all of our questions..be it acads , softwares ,projects ,videos , best in town, or answer to questions tht we have to seek ourselves :P
One day just keep a track as to how many times u google and u get the most appropriate thing u were searching for (provided u give a proper request :p )

For more technical facts about "google" google google ..

so let me tell u something more about google.
well there are many more products by google under the name of google LABS
http://labs.google.com/
google code search beintg the newest of them (simply awesome work.... )
there are some graduates of these labs which are the google lab products which have stood the test of time and are perfectly OK products for use.
My favourite ones are:
docs.google.com ( online docs and can be edited at the same time by many)
video.google.com ( videozzz...)
u can even personalize ur home page and much more .,.....

some softwares by google :
google desktop
google earth ( a masterpiece )
and many more
Yeah but these google softwares are far more less efficient ( RAM consuming :( )

i m not sure but if in near future google goes into making a GOOGLE OS ( i have read articles concerning this and this kind of project is on .....may be a google OS by 2010 ) then it has the potential to remove the currently used OS frm almost all comps within 5 years of its release..

Google , i guess has the most efficient programmers , developers and technicians , much more than any other company within this field and undoubtedly will continue to have ....
MOST of the google products are free ( yeah i guess they are supporters of Open source )

GOOGLE is much more than u think .... Its a true friend .

Murphy's laws ,c++ and me

Well i was a lover of murphys gr8 laws only until i was totally screwed by his(murphy's) ghost.It turned out as if the murphys laws were the only laws governing my life.
This is in connection with the C++ course i had joined but i still dont understand nothing .u see i m confused....!
Neways cuming bac to the topic of concern -> so it turned out that(may be due to heavy rains) there was no electricity (since 8.30am as i was told , neways who is awake by that time)but this continued and there was no electricity in our area till i was awake." No electricity" survival was ok.. but the worst part is still to come.i had to submit an assignment on tht very day.And obviously i was going to start on the same last day.
So i exclaimed, " y only today ?? wtf ".
Now i got it .This was a clear case of murphy's laws and it has come true. Now wat to do?
So i called up gautum to check out his progress and he was sleeping. So i thought may be he is done with it or i m not the only one.
Then he gave me a wonderful idea of going to tapan's place.
Somehow by changing 3 buses i reached his place by 12.15pm and the dead line was 5pm.
so i started coding (the brute force method , bcoz the previous day i had spent some 4-5 hours just understanding the problem.)

Someone said regarding programming(i think its adidas):

To iterate is human,
but to recurse is divine !

but i was only human and thought of nothing else but iterating(infinite if...else if...statements).In programming ,

Alls well that runs...!

So started coding , but recall the topic of these write-up.
I felt like Murphy was somewhere nearby.Tapan's comp suddenly hangs.
Infact it hangs in such a way that even the cpu restart button cud not restart it!
So he had to cut-off the power supply .
Again a clear case of Murphy's laws.
then Tapan used some gr8 method (opened the cpu,took out the RAM,cleaned it and put it back)and it started.

Well i had lost my some data bcoz i had saved it long back..
So i had to do it all over again......
Huh......!!

(In my mind:i said " oh murphy wherever u r ,i just admire ur laws thts it and i don want them to be experimented on me")

then i somehow managed to complete it ....
now it was 4 min to 5.00pm
and for mailing i had to switch over to windows....which requires a password(obviously which was known to tapan only)

And i noticed tht Tapan was peacefully sleeping (bcoz of a nightout on the previous night).now wat to do?
once more a clear case of Murphy's laws ........

Obviously , now i was trying to wake him up..but it was very difficult.
But i had to..i had no other way ( Sorry tapan )
Somehow i made him put the password
and submitted...............huuhhhhhhh.................!!

tht is it !
