Hurricane Irene is coming and the outlook isn't looking good. I have compiled a list of live streams to watch during the storm so everyone can stay informed. Hurricane Irene is currently approaching North Carolina with winds in excess of 100 mph. The storm is expected to reach North Carolina by tomorrow morning. Irene was about 185 miles southwest of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, at 11 p.m. ET Friday, according to the national hurricane center. Below is a list of live feeds from the East Coast.

Arizona shooter Jared Lee Loughner home video released (video)

Jared Lee Loughner's community college released a home video he made yesterday."

The four minute long video was posted on youtube in September.

In the video Loughner says, "The war that we are in right now is currently illegal under the Constitution. What makes it illegal is the currency. The date is also wrong. It is impossible for it to be that date. It's mind control. They're controlling the grammar."

Currently, Jared Lee Laughner is the only suspect being held in connection with the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords.

California Supreme Court Rules Texts Can Be Searched Without Warrant

On Monday, the California Supreme Court ruled police do not need a warrant to search a cell phone carried by someone who is under arrest. The state court ruled 5-2 that police can search items found on defendants when arrested.

In 2007, U.S. District Court Judge Susan Illston ruled police could not search the cell phones of defendants without a warrant. In 2009, the Ohio supreme court ruled against the illegal search of cell phones as well.

California Deputy Attorney General Victoria Wilson told the media Monday that the split decisions in California and Ohio could lead the U.S. Supreme Court to personally look into the issue of police searching cell phones.

The California Supreme Court decided the loss of privacy upon arrest extends beyond the arrestee's body to include personal property. Now, authorities can not only seize items, but can also open and examine what they find.

The question remains, should police have the right to search an arrestee's property including modern technology such as cell phones and external USB drives? The ruling opens up disturbing possibilities, such as warrantless searches of e-mails, documents and contacts on smart phones, and laptop computers.

I personally do not believe police officers should have the right to search someones cell phone unless they get a warrant to do so. There is no reason for police to have access to someones personal conversations without a court ruling deciding it is necessary. This is not surprising at all considering the CIA, FBI and homeland security tap citizens cell phones on a regular basis already. It's sad to say, but many of our rights died when the Patriot act was passed. Write your local senator and tell them you disagree with the California court ruling Monday, if you don't, no one else will!

By the way, Password-protection of smart phones may be a useful tool to ward off a warrantless search.

The Dow Jones is up over 75% since it’s low in March of 2009. Oil is up over 90% from it’s low in February 2009. Copper is up 200% from it’s low in December 2008.

Prices for almost all stocks and commodities have been going through the roof, having analysts on wallstreet proclaiming the recession is over and an economic recovery is here.

But how could an economic recovery be here if unemployment is still at a multi-decade high over 17%.

The Truth is our economy is not recovering. Prices are only rising due to INFLATION.

The federal reserve has held interest rates at 0% for way to long. Our financial system has been flooded with trillions of dollars in newly printed money. Those who have had access to the FEDS newly printed money have done well this past year. This is why Wallstreet paid out record bonuses.

This has come at the expense of the rest of America becoming dependant on unemployment checks and foodstamps.

There are now over 40 million Americans on food stamps, up 22% over the last year. Food stamp usage has now increased for almost 2 years. In 2009 Americans received over 2.1 trillion dollars from the government in the form of transfer payments, which equals the 2.1 trillion dollars the citizens paid in taxes.

In 2010, the government paid out more in benefits then they received in taxes and the US budget deficit started to fall out of control. (if Americans were taxed 100% of their income, it would not be enough to balance the budget)

When medicare was created in 1966 it cost 3 billion dollars per year, and they estimated the cost would rise to 12 billion a year in 1990. The actual cost of medicare in 1990 was 107 billion dollars. (792% more than projected) Today it costs 408 billion dollars anually.

In 2003, at the beginning of the Iraq war the white house estimated the war would have a total cost of 50-60 billion dollars. In reality, it has already cost over 720 billion dollars. (Over 1000% more than projected)

The congressional budget office is projecting that the recently passed health-care bill will cost over 940 billion dollars over the next ten years. If history is any indication, the actual cost of the health-care bill over the next decade will be many trillion dollars. (making it the final nail in the coffin of the U.S. economy)

Our economy has stayed afloat until now due to the U.S. dollar status as the worlds reserve currency and our ability to borrow an endless amount of money from China. For many years the U.S. has been able to convince the Chinese to roll over their maturing U.S. treasuries plus interest into large amounts of new ones. However, China has now reduced their U.S. treasury holdings and the U.S. is now calling them currency manipulators.

China has manipulated their currency by pegging it to the U.S. dollar, but it’s their currency peg that has allowed Americans to maintain their phony standard of living for so long. If China listens to U.S. politicians and allows their currency to strengthen, Americans will no longer be able to afford cheap imports from China. U.S. politicians want China’s currency to strengthen because they believe it will decrease our trade deficit. (sure, our trade deficit would shrink from Americans importing less from China, but it wont have the desired effect of increasing U.S. exports)

Years ago America had companies like RCA and Zenith that produced televisions, but today there are no television manufacturers left.

In 1910 70% of U.S. womens clothing, and 40% of U.S. mens clothing was produced in New York. Today, the textile industry in New York is non-existent, and 35% of clothing purchased in the U.S. is imported from China.

Instead of investing to rebuild our manufacturing base, the U.S. government is now spending 1 trillion dollars annually to maintain military bases around the world and fund wars like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Oil reached a high in July of 2008 (147$/barrel) despite diminishing demand from developing nations. Congress held hearings on why oil prices were rising, not realizing it was their deficit spending that was sending oil prices through the roof. When oil reached 147$ a barrel unemployment was only 10%. Most families were still able to afford gas by cutting back on discretionary spending. Next time oil hits 147$ a barrel the next time around, we might have twice as many Americans unemployed. (this is not good)

The U.S. savings rate has fallen to 3.1%.

43% of Americans now have less than 10,000$ saved for retirement.

What’s going to happen when the U.S. government is inevitably forced to default on its social security obligations. Retirement will become a thing of the past. Americans getting ready to retire need to assume that social security wont be there. Retirees will soon be forced to re-enter the workforce which could send the unemployment rate up to great depression levels.

The U.S. national debt is now 13 trillion dollars. However the government is refusing to include the debts of Fannie May and Freddie Mac on its balance sheet when these are now government controlled entities. Including the Fannie Freddie debt of 6.3 trillion dollars, our real nation debt is over 19 trillion dollars. Once you include our 60 trillion dollars in unfunded liabilities for social security, medicare ect. our total federal obligations have now reached 79 trillion dollars.

It will be impossible for U.S. debts to ever be repaid without the U.S. printing the money and creating hyper-inflation.

Heavy chemtrails reported over Minnesota today (December 29th, 2010)

The Real News Now has received multiple reports of chemtrails in Minnesota today. Specifically in the North and North Western suburbs of the Twin Cities metro area.

The first report came in around 1pm (central time.) An individual informed The Real News Now of heavy chemtrails being sprayed in a north-western suburb known as Maple Grove.

The witness reported counting over 50 chemtrails in the region. He also claims the planes dispersing the substance did repeated zig-zag patterns over the area.

The witness also claims to have prior knowledge of the topic and reputedly stated that the trails where not vapor con-trails, but in fact chemtrails.

The witness also claims to have taken pictures which we will publish as soon as we receive.

The Real News Now later confirmed the reports when another individual in the area reported a similar sighting. This sighting was reported by an individual in Brooklyn Park, MN (another northern suburb of the Twin Cities metro area.)

Chemtrails have been considered a conspiracy theory for quite some time now. Yet, with new evidence mounting daily, scientist, geologist, environmentalist, filmmakers and politicians have begun to look a bit deeper into the issue of chemtrails.

One thing is for certain, many people today take the issue of chemtrails as a fact, and will not stop researching the topic until they discover what is going on.

Chemtrails have been linked to geo-engineering, weather manipulation, population control and many other interesting topics.

Minnesota is expected to have a massive blizzard this new years weekend, (Keep in mind, MN is already up to it's shoulders in snow. Could the upcoming blizzard be the reason Minnesota was bombarded with chemtrails today?

The BBC and Huffington Post are reporting that the New Zealand government has just released hundreds of classified files detailing reports and sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). The reports span from 1954-2009.

The documents allegedly contain drawings of flying saucers, and an alleged sample of alien writing. Accounts by members of the public, military personnel and commercial airline pilots describing close encounters are also included.

The files also include details of New Zealand's most famous UFO sighting. (when strange lights were filmed off the South Island town of Kaikoura in 1978)

The reports have been released under freedom of information laws in New Zealand. The approximate size of the report is 2,000 pages.

The Dominion Post is publishing the entire lot of documents online. I suggest you check them out! Among the reports that have been uploaded so far are details of a 1999 sighting of contrails above the sky in Auckland, during which the writer warns, "A vast many people in Auckland will suffer flu-like sickness."

Another report from 1995 describes an incident in which a man met an alien with massive feet who told him dying humans ascend as hydrogen atoms.

Lunar eclipse/winter solstice (Dec. 2010 photos/video)

The extremely-rare lunar eclipse which coincided with 2010's winter solstice for the first time in over 400 years happened just a few hours ago.

NASA claims the last time these astronomical events took place at the same time was on Dec. 21, 1638, and it probably won't happen again until at least 2094.

The full moon was darkened by Earth's shadow as our planet passed between the moon and the sun.

December 21 is also the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, after which the days will begin to grow in length.

The total eclipse began around 1:41 a.m. Central time on Tuesday while the optimal viewing time was 2:17 a.m. Central time.

A lunar eclipse is when the earth blocks the sun from the moon. The result, which can be seen from many places around the world for over an hour, is a darkening moon as the eclipse begins, a red moon when the sun is partially eclipsed and a reddish reflection of the earth shows on the surface as well.

A look at the geometry of the Moon phases would make it appear that a lunar eclipse should happen every full moon and a solar eclipse should occur on every new moon. This does not occur because the plane of the Moon's orbit is tilted 5.2° with respect to the plane of the Earth's orbit around the Sun (the ecliptic plane).

The conditions for eclipses occur only at the points at which the Moon's orbit passes through the ecliptic plane.

The celestial eccentricity of the lunar eclipse occurring on the winter solstice holds special significance for spiritualities that tap into certain energies during times of galactic change. "It's a ritual of transformation from darkness into light."

"It's seen as a time of rebirth or renewal because, astrologically, it's a time where the light comes back," said Shane Hawkins, a professor of Greek and Roman studies at Carleton University in Ottawa.

House Passes Tax bill 277-148, Sending Bill To President

The United States House of Representatives has pushed through the Obama-GOP tax-cut deal by a vote of 277-148. The bill will now go to the white house for approval by president Obama.

The bill reauthorizes extended unemployment benefits through 2011, meaning more than a million people whose benefits lapsed this month will receive retroactive lump-sum payments within a few weeks. (this also means the United States federal government will go deeper into debt)

The Real problems with the tax bill:

1. 1 trillion dollars in spending. (give or take 10%) This tax bill will inject almost a trillion dollars into the economy. This money will be created out of thin air and will devalue the US dollar in the long run. (very bad to do right now)

2. 1 year payroll tax break. A payroll tax break sounds really nice and may even feel good when you receive your paychecks, but the truth is this will drain the social security treasury by a 1/3 it's first year.

3. The tax-cut deal is not a tax cut! The deal just keeps taxes at status quo, there is no tax cut involved in the deal.

4. The bill was and may still be pork-laden. (Originally there was alot of pork spending hidden in the bill and they cut some of it out, but who knows how much is still lurking inside of the bill at this point.

5. The proposed payroll tax break would not be as generous for many low and middle income households as the tax cut it is replacing. (potentially leaving 51 million households to face a higher tax bill or a lower refund compared to last year)

The real news now will be giving updates on the tax deal as information is available. (I still need to get a copy of the bill to see what is in the final version. As of now though, it is not looking good)

Ancient Egyptian Math Identical To Math In Modern Computers (VIDEO)

Our Website has moved! Please come visit, The Hals Report!In 2008 mathematician and author Michael S. Schneider put together a video explaining how mathematics used by Ancient Egyptians is identical to the math used in computers today.

The Ancient Egyptians figured out how to do multiplication without memorizing times tables, and how to do long division without using half boxes.

Modern man used Ancient Egypt's mathematics to build computers! The Ancient Egyptians multiplied mostly by repeated doubling and adding, sometimes also by using ten as an intermediate multiplier when it was more convenient.

This way, they avoided the need to learn multiplication tables.

In the past, this method was seen as awkward because it was different from the way we do our longhand multiplication. (in fact it's much closer to the way our binary computers work ;)

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange freed (court rejects appeal)

Early this morning , Justice Ouseley (the justice in charge of the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange's court case) upheld the decision to grant Julian Assange bail, according to Sky News. Spectators claim cheers commenced outside the courtroom when the decision was announced. The judge acknowledged that Assange has co-operated with the Swedish authorities over the allegations he faces. Assange's lawyer Mark Stephens expects him to be free today. Assange will make a statement then, Stephens said. Stephens also claimed the worst case scenario would be that Assange may not be free until tomorrow. Assange will now have to follow a strict set of bail conditions, including wearing an electronic tag, staying at a specific address in eastern England, reporting to police every evening and observing two four-hour curfews each day.

As long as Julian Assange follows his bail conditions, he will next appear in court on Jan. 11, when a judge will decide whether he should be extradited to Sweden. Yet despite this minor victory today, Assange's legal woes are far from over as U.S. prosecutors are now reportedly trying to build a conspiracy case against him.

Bloggers being put in jail! (all over the world)

In April, , writer Nay Phone Latt won the 2010 PEN/Barbara Goldsmith "Freedom to Write" award. The award honors world renowned literary figures. (Figures who have been persecuted and imprisoned for defending "freedom of expression") Unfortunately, Nay Phone Latt was not there to receive the award. The Burmese poet and human rights advocate was in Mynamar, serving a 12-year prison sentence for distributing news and views via his blog.

This is a trend which has been spreading through the interweb quickly. While millions of bloggers all over the world update their sites frequently, there seems to be a team of shadow programmers out there tracking and logging everything they do, and also shutting some of them down in many cases. Now, many bloggers are even starting to be prosecuted.

Nay Phone Latt's case is a symbolic representation of a problem sweeping across the world. The war on bloggers and other social networkers started in the East and has now spread to the West. In Iran, Navid Mohebbi (18yr) was imprisoned. What did he do? He insulted Iran's leader on his blog. He is also an advocate for womens rights. The list of writers, journalists and bloggers in prison in Iran includes some of Iran's most distinguished journalists and bloggers. There are currently 47 journalists in prison in Iran.

Iran is not the only country these events have been taking place in. Egypt has also imprisoned prominent bloggers. Saudi Arabia's most popular blogger, Fouad al-Farhan, has been detained for questioning, an Interior Ministry spokesman confirmed. The Saudi government has waged an all-out battle against "Internet treason" for years. In Iraq, 33-year-old Dr. Hanan Al-Mashhadani was arrested, imprisoned and subjected to torture because of her writing on a blog. Her charges revolved around some comments she made about the countries "terrorism act."

This happens all over the world on a daily basis. In November, Cuba's most prominent blogger was abducted by three men. "This arrest was made after our investigations showed that he did certain things which could cause unrest among the citizens of various races in this country." The evidence strongly suggests that the harassment and persecution of bloggers is increasing all over the world.

A Texas blogger was recently jailed for failing to turn his computer over to a judge. The bloggers grandmother claims her house was broken into and her computer was seized after the courts received a subpoena. The blogger was eventually jailed. A freelance journalist and blogger was jailed in August in California for refusing to turn over video he took at an anti-capitalist protest last summer and after refusing to testify before a grand jury looking into accusations that crimes were committed at the protest.

The list goes on and on and on. In some countries now they just throw away the jail key. Totalitarian, Authoritarian governments will always try to censor the real news. Don't let them. (Live like your free)

Man with HIV cured (stem cell transplant, first of it's kind)

An HIV-positive man who underwent a stem cell transplant in 2007 has been cured as a result of the procedure. Timothy Ray Brown, also known as the "Berlin Patient," received the transplant in 2007 as part of a lengthy treatment course for leukemia.

His doctors recently published a report in the journal Blood affirming the results of extensive testing which "strongly suggest that a cure of HIV infection has been achieved." Brown has now remained off HIV treatment for three-and-a-half years with normal CD4 counts and no evidence of HIV replication.

Brown's case paves a path for constructing a permanent cure for HIV through genetically-engineered stem cells.

The JP Morgan silver conspiracy

What is the J.P. Morgan silver conspiracy? To begin with, I'm not a financial advisor but I understand the way economics works. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has been investigating allegations of price manipulation in the silver market since early 2008.

An investor by the name of Peter Laskaris alleges that starting in 2008, JP Morgan colluded with HSBC to suppress silver so call options (the right to buy) would decline, and put options (the right to sell) would increase.The collusion was also used to maintain and manipulate prices.

JP Morgan placed spoof trading orders according to the complaint. (I'm not going to get into what spoof trading orders are, feel free to search the term online)

So, what does all of this really mean? Basically, JP Morgan used their large position to effect the market. They flooded it with a disproportionate number of orders that in turn influenced prices.

This is an unlawful and manipulative suppression of silver prices. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has been probing allegations of price manipulation in the silver market since 2008.

Yesterday, at a hearing in Washington CFTC Commissioner Bart Chilton said there have been “fraudulent efforts to persuade and deviously control” silver prices and violators should be prosecuted.

There has been a conspiracy to suppress prices of silver futures to profit from enormous short positions in silver futures. (this is exactly what JP Morgan has done)

What does this silver conspiracy mean to me? Basically, the silver manipulation which has occurred means silver is being priced for less than it's worth. Yes, that's right.

Silvers natural price should be much higher than it is, even today. In such a volatile market where the dollar continues to become weaker, silver is a safe-haven many investors are continually running to. Why do you think silver outperformed gold last year?

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was granted bail Today after a hearing at Westminster Magistrate's Court in London.

The Australian hacker turned himself in to London police last week to answer questions concerning a European arrest warrant over alleged sex crimes in Sweden.

The magistrate agreed to grant bail after Assange's team of attorneys reported that Vaughan Smith, a former British army officer would offer his mansion to Assange for monitoring.

Smith will keep Assange "if not under house arrest, at least under mansion arrest."

The magistrate set bail at $315,000 plus two sureties of $31,500. Assange's passport must remain with police, and he will be monitored by a location tag.

Assange must be at Smith's mansion for at least four hours a night and four hours during the day. He will be required to report to police daily between 6 and 8 p.m.

The next court hearing is scheduled for January 11. During the hearing, Julian Assange's team of attorneys argued that since he is only wanted for questioning and has not been formally charged, he is presumed innocent. The magistrate agreed.

Those in attendance at the hearing included Fatima Bhutto, niece of the late Pakistani politician Benazir Bhutto and current Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, and prominent left-wing journalist John Pilger.

In his last appearance in court, several celebrities joined protesters offering to post bail.

Julian Assange (Wikileaks founder) will appear in court today, a week after being held in a UK jail over allegations which state he sexually assaulted two women in Sweden. "The Crown Prosecution Service" will represent the Swedish authorities in the UK court, and they have the right to appeal any bail decision made by the court.

Lady Kennedy, a high profile human rights attorney, has joined Julian Assange's defense team. (Lady Kennedy) also known as Helena Ann Kennedy and Baroness Kennedy of The Shaws QC FRSA is a British barrister, broadcaster, and Labour member of the House of Lords. She is a former chair of the Human Genetics Commission, which advises the UK government on ethical, social, and legal issues arising from developments in genetic science.

The addition of Lady Kennedy to Assanges defense team has sparked interest around the world. (I strongly advise you to do your own research into Lady Kennedy, there is much to be seen)

Today should be an active day in the media, expect Assange to appear in court around 2pm. No matter the outcome, he should be held for a minimum of 48 more hours before a decision is made on the pending appeal. So, although the day may turn out interesting, we will not see Julian Assange's release.

Yesterday, Assange released a statement from jail, read it below.

“My convictions are unfaltering. I remain true to the ideals I have always expressed. These circumstances shall not shake them. If anything, this process has increased my determination that they are true and correct. We now know that Visa, Mastercard and Paypal are instruments of US foreign policy. It’s not something we knew before. I am calling on the world to protect my work and my people from these illegal and immoral acts.”

Obama brings in Bill Clinton. Awkward? (video)

Yesterday, when President Obama introduced President Clinton to speak about his support for the President's framework agreement to extend tax cuts and unemployment benefits, didn't it seem a little awkward? Maybe it's just me, but I felt like I was back in the mid 90's and Bill Clinton was still the president.

To begin with, President Obama said "I'm bringing the other guy in." He then introduced President Clinton and said he had to go to a Christmas party. Next, President Clinton took the stage stating "first of all I feel awkward being here and now your gonna leave me all by myself."

If this isn't strange in itself, the greatest exchange came about 10 minutes later when President Obama said "I can't keep the first lady waiting, I have to leave, see ya later."

I understand marriage and family, I do, but what about the American people? The former President of the Untied States Bill Clinton came to endorse President Obama's tax bill and he left! Would it not have been a smart move to stay for 15 more minutes and finish out the press conference as a sign of respect to the former President and the American people? It just makes no sense.

Finally, Bill Clinton took the stage and I don't know about you, but it felt like a flashback to the mid 90's to me. He stood up there and briefed the American people like he was still the President of the United States. It felt quite awkward to me I must say.

So, there you have it. The strange political atmosphere of the United States. Does anyone actually know what to do anymore? Is the government falling apart? Is this tax bill a horrible idea? The democrats and Republicans all seem to be upset with this particular piece of legislation and the American people don't have much faith left in the federal government. What will happen when the Republicans take office January 1st. Does it even matter?
