An unexpected brake lockup at the "bus stop" sent the car towards the wall. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It was a glancing blow but it did quite a bit of damage. Right side front and back suspensions, bent shocks, subframes, possibly damaged fuel cell...  big job.     The guys at TRG stripped the car, engine, suspension, all came out.   As I write, night practice has started and the car still sits. A wet skidpad made is so we could hoon to our heart's delight and still have Michelins left on the car for its pace car duties in this friday's Continental 200 at the Speedway. &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href="http://axisofoversteer.blogspot.com/2012/01/hooning-pace-car.html"&gt;&lt;img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7032/6763872007_baf54238a1_z.jpg" /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Enough about the ridiculous amount of fun we had...I think the video will give you a better idea. That Darth Vader looking thing you see is Ferrari's Formula 1 simulator, the real one not the rFactor Pro powered one they will build for special clients for 350000 Euro...if they like you. &lt;br /&gt;
No, that's the famous 5 Million Euro simulator built for the 2010 season. I had never seen pictures of it until these. &lt;br /&gt;

A 5 million simulator of course is the result of Formula One cost cutting measures with the elimination of most testing. That's why we love F1: Why $6M simulator? Because cost savings!&lt;br /&gt;

Gampiero "Momo" Moretti has passed away, sadly just before the 50th anniversary of the Rolex Daytona 24 Hour, a race he won in 1998 in a Ferrari 333 SP.  He had been invited by the organizers to celebrate the milestone and will be missed by all on pit lane there.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Moretti was born in 1940 and by the early 60s became a supplier for Ferrari,  John Surtees first shuffled a &lt;a href="http://www.momo.it/"&gt;MOMO&lt;/a&gt; wheel to a championship in his Ferrari 158.  The rest, as they say, is history.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
An icon in the world of endurance, "gentleman driver" Moretti was a very active in IMSA racing and instrumental in convincing Ferrari to return to sports car competition with the 333 SP program.   The program culminated with his win at the Florida classic along with  Mauro Baldi, Didier Theys and Arie Luiendyck.&lt;br /&gt;

I don't know why people keep harping on that old fool Chuck Norris when we have motorcycle racers around. &amp;nbsp; Suzuki rider &lt;a href="http://johnhopkins21.com/"&gt;John Hopkins&lt;/a&gt; opted to have one of his fingers amputated rather than risk not being able to race when the 2012 Superbike season starts at Philip Island. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Trouble for Hopper started last summer when he was called up by Suzuki to fill a wildcard shot in MotoGP for the Czech Grand Prix.   What looked to be a simple fall in practice turned into a calvary of six operations with, apparently, the prospect for more.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Hopkins was remarkably upbeat as he posted a picture of his hand on twitter...  &lt;br /&gt;

I'm positive Ferrari, when they tasked a test driver to lap the Maranello roundabout over and over at walking speed were as surprised as a Kardashian would be to run into paparazzi after tweeting they would go commando for the day.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As you no doubt read by now,  the 599 GTB Fiorano replacement, codenamed F152, is said to have a lighter aluminum chassis and a 725HP V12 derived from the FF's 6.3 unit.  Styling will combine elements of the 458 and FF which can only be a good thing. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
The F152  will be shown at the Geneva Auto Show where we will find out the model designation and if those rumors of a "HyperKERS" system tied to the front wheels are true or if that will be saved for the upcoming F70.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Time to put all those tired 599's in your garages on e-bay!&lt;br /&gt;

Robby Gordon is not taking his suspended disqualification from the 2012 Dakar peacefully.  Gordon was found in violation of technical regulations,  I believe 1P and 3P, which state that anyone getting too close to a winning French driver in a French run Rally will run afoul of article 1P and 3P.  &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Gordon was clearly guilty of getting too close to Stephane Peterhansel who in a bit of irony is driving for Mini who's notorious disqualification from the 1966 Montecarlo Rally was also due to running afoul of Article 1P and 3P!&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
To punctuate his salutation to the Dakar organizers, Gordon won today's stage by 15 minutes over his nearest rival.&lt;br /&gt;

You may know Diego's work from &lt;a href="http://www.autosport.com/subs/login.php?r=http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/96703&amp;amp;type=news&amp;amp;id=96703"&gt;Autosport&lt;/a&gt; where he covers NASCAR or for his racing coverage on SpeedTV.com (not to mention his recent karting induced visit to the emergency room,  but that's another story.)&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
In any case, very nice interview, among other things Carlos explains how this will an especially interesting edition of the Rolex 24. While there is excitement for the new Daytona Prototypes, &amp;nbsp;it's just 14 cars.  In comparison there are 50 plus GT cars and for the first time in ages, Porsches are not the only "real" cars in the field.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Yes, Camaros and Mazdas are still tube frame Riley silhouettes but along with Porsche there are now factory supported Ferrari, Audi, BMW and even a lone Dodge Viper.  &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
About the recent "Roar before the 24" test session,  Carlos described it as a "festival of sandbagging"  where teams pretty much all stuck to the 1:50 lap time and gave little away as to their true speed.  &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
As for the number 68 Axis of Oversteer car,  Carlos will be sharing duties with Porsche Supercup rookie of the year Kevin Estre, Supercup UK star Damien Faulkner, IMSA GT3 Challenge driver Chris Cummings and Viper Cup champ Ben Keating.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Carlos concludes saying that the key to winning the 24 is not so much about outright speed but the mental game and consistency over the planned double stints of approximately 55 minute stints the car is capable of.   &lt;a href="https://www.facebook.com/TheRacersGroup"&gt;TRG&lt;/a&gt; has the experience and the strategic knowhow to give Carlos a top tier car with a legitimate chance.  &lt;br /&gt;

Daytona will be awesome!&lt;br /&gt;
