this artwork is a clay model of a cow I have at home. I made this because it is something easy for me to create it was also something I was really excited about creating it. I learned that I can use acrylic paint instead of glaze when I paint my clay cow project. I chose this because I found it interesting.

The book I read was written by Bernard Evslin. It is about his journey coming back home from the Trojan war. We were meant to take notes when we found OHHS characteristics and literary devices. I took 22 OHHS notes and 44 Literary devices. I think I took enough notes but I feel like I should have marked my notes so I know what OHHS characteristic or literary device I found. Now I know how I can take good notes so it will help me out in the future when I take notes. This helped me with reading but I also reading like this.

Deity Dossier Athena

I did my deity dossier on Athena if you would like to see my presentation click here. In my project I talked About Athena's origin her rivalries weapons and reputation. I learned a lot about Athena when I did my research for this project. I also learned about some other gods and monsters. I could use this information for tests or narratives. I think I did well on my project although I think I could have spoken louder and clearer.

About the story
My story is about a boy named Hannibal. He wants to try and climb higher in the social hierarchy he is a peasant and spends all of his time working. One day he sees an unfamiliar man run across the fields Hannibal runs after him and catches him. After a conversation they had Hannibal gets a chance to no longer be a peasant but this new job will be life threatening.

My story shares themes with among the hidden The message in this story is sometimes you have to work within enemy lines.

I think measure 29 to 37 were the best measures that we were able to play in the whole entire song. I think the worst measures in the song were 73 to 76. I would practice the measures I do not know and then practice the whole entire song when I am practicing on my own.

Social pyramids: An Example of Hierarchy

A social pyramid is set of different social classes ordered from least amount of rights to the most amount rights. For example a pedestrian would not have as much power as a government official. Something that I found interesting about social pyramids is that when you move higher in the Egyptian social pyramid there are then less people. The difference in the social pyramid in ancient Egypt and Among The Hidden is that at the bottom of the Egyptian social pyramid there are more people at the bottom than there are at the top while in the social pyramid in Among The Hidden there are less people at the bottom of the social pyramid. The most amount of people in the Among The Hidden social pyramid is in the middle were the working class adults and children are on the pyramid. I agree with the social pyramid that the class came up with because I think that the shadow children are at the bottom and the government at the top. I did not play that big of a role in the discussion. Because I spent most of my time thinking about what people were saying because my classmates kept on saying different things about the social pyramid in Among The Hidden so I never got a good chance to compare the social pyramid in ancient Egypt and Among The Hidden.

February 13 reflection

I think measure 17 to 20 because of the timing and tone I think measure 45 to 56 were not as good as the rest of the song. I f I were the teacher I would not change anything in the song except for reminding the band that about the dynamic marks because I did not hear a difference with the dynamic makings added in. When I listened to the song I could not hear the clarinets that much.

Among the Hidden: Mid-Way Book Review

If I could describe among the hidden with three adjectives I would say it is suspenseful, slow-paced and boring because most of the book so far has very few moments were I got excited. On a scale of one to ten I would give among the hidden a six out of ten. I would recommend this book to people who do not like a story with any action. click here to see the cover of the book

Mesopotamia Research Essay Final

My research project was about Mesopotamian metal working I spent a lot of time in the library looking for books with information that I could put in my three body paragraphs. The hardest part of this research project was researching facts because there were not a lot of books about metal working. I feel proud of my work although I think I could have done a better job at creating a concluding sentence for my conclusion. If I were to do this research project again I would have changed my subtopics and write better commentary in my body paragraphs. Click here to see my essay.

Math project reflection

In the data and statistics project I compared graphs to find out which one I should use for a certain set of data that I found on the internet. I would then talk about the pros and the cons of each graph. This was important because if a set of data was on the wrong graph it would be harder to read. I could use this skill again when I need to compare or organize a set of data for another project. The part of the project that worked really well for me was when I was looking for a set of data that I could use for my project because it was easy to find things that happened in the news recently.

2015 Humanities goals

I am setting some goals that will help me improve in certain skills that I use in Humanities. My goal in reading is to read a question several times so I can understand it better and make sure I do not make any mistakes. This is a good goal for me because sometimes I get a question wrong because there was one part that I did not consider when I was answering a question on a quiz or a test. I will achieve this goal by reading a question more than once and review my answers before I turn in my quiz. My goal in writing is reviewing an essay. This is a good goal for me because I think I could try to be more specific when I recommend changing parts in an essay. I will achieve this goal by being more specific when I comment on a peers' essay. My goal in listening and speaking is speaking up and asking questions during presentations. This is a good goal for me because when I do a presentation some people can not hear what I am saying. I will achieve this goal by practicing my presentations in front of my parents.

I mainly prepared for when the saints go marching in and surprise symphony and hard rock blues. I also tried not to be nervous before the concert. I used only my mouth piece to practice the songs in the concert we also practiced certain sections and certain parts of the band would play certain parts of a song they were having trouble with. One of the hardest pieces for me to pay was wen the saints go marching in because it is hard for me to keep up with the group at certain parts. I was going to do a solo but I backed out because I was to nervous.

The topic I chose to do my research paper on is ancient Mesopotamian metal working. I chose this topic because I have always been interested in metal working and I wanted to learn more about the topic. On a scale of one to ten I have had a level 3 difficulty finding info for my note cards because there are a lot of information about metal working in the books I have read. The graphic below indicates emotions students often feel at different stages of the research process. Right now I am feeling a sense of direction because I am getting a lot of good information from the books about metal working.

I did my book cover project on The Blood Of Olympus because it is a book I have read recently. My cover did not turn out the way I wanted it to because some of my drawings were not exactly how I imagined them. The hardest part for me, was adding colors to my sketch because sometimes I could not find the colors I wanted. I also had a hard time working in the art room because I have never worked in there before. The most enjoyable part for me was writing my synopsis and my review because I felt more comfortable and did not have to rush. If I did this project again I would pick a different scene from the book for my cover project because there are many more scenes in the book that I could have done my cover about. The parts that turned out differently than what I wanted them to, was the spine and the back cover. Because, some parts of my spine were white and my back cover also had some white spots but the color was not the one I wanted, I chose that color, because I could not find the one I wanted. If I were to give advice to next year’s sixth graders I would tell them not to use watercolors, and use some normal colored pencils and normal paint. It makes it easier to stop the water from going on top of the other colors.

I played songs 16-21 for my 20 minute recording I prepared for playing songs by buzzing. I think I am doing well on timing whole notes and half notes. I am having a hard time timing quarter notes and quarter rests. I will practice certain songs that have quarter rests and quarter notes so I can try timing those notes.

"Fly Away Home" is about a boy and his dad who want to be free. Making a literary essay for "Fly Away Home" was hard for me because I had a hard time finding a thesis. the easiest part for me was typing the essay because I had all of my notes on paper. I think I could have done better with writing better summary for one part of the story. I also think I could have more reasons and have more paragraphs. I think I did good at explaining certain parts of the story. I also think I did good with making good reasons for my paragraphs and a conclusion for my essay. I think I had an easier making an normal essay than an Literary essay. I think this could help me in the future when I am in a book club and I need to write a literary essay or when I am in college and I need to write a literary essay. I think I improved on explaining my reasons in my essays and making a summary. Read my essay here

This year I have been bringing my homework to school when I finish it most of the time sometimes I forget to do my homework because I had other things I had to do. I read every night and I try to turn in my homework as fast as I can. I have been working fast enough so I can finish on time and do some of the extra work. I am usually able to work well in groups and walking quietly from place to place.

Math has been very frustrating this year because of all of the things I have to memorize I also found fractions to be very frustrating because of I had to simplify every single time. Some parts in math I had an easier time with such as decimals and probability. By the time I write this I will be studying algebra and order of operations which I do not find to be as hard as fractions. In our math books most of the problems are word problems which I do not like because it only makes math much more frustrating than it already is. My goal for the rest of this year is to finish math questions faster and try to do a better job of understanding word problems.

I think I have improved in writing by getting ideas faster and putting it down on paper I have also have done better with making essays and making a skeleton draft for an essay. I still have a little bit of a hard time getting ideas and putting it down on paper and getting ideas for an essay. This year I have read a lot of books but I think I should read faster when I get the chance and I should read more often. I also have difficulty at reading for a long time and making reading letters. I have gotten better at reading faster so it does not take me a very long time to finish a book. I also like to read a lot of fiction because I find it more interesting. When I came to eca my reading level was a u and know it is a w. my goal for the rest of the year is to read longer and read a little bit faster

Explorer reflection

In this project I chose an explorer and wrote an essay on that explorer I also made an artifact that they used with an artifact card the explorer I studied was Henry Hudson.

The way I felt during this project was frustrated and rushed because I did not have a lot of time to do all of it. This made it really hard for me to work.

The part that was most challenging for me was the homework and some of the work at school. The part that was hard for me at school was the skeleton draft for my essay because I started it a little late. The home work was hard for me because I had other bits of homework I had to do.

I learned that Henry Hudson explored the north west passage, the Hudson bay and the Hudson river. He also explored the north east so more people would settle there.

I think I learned to make an essay when I use a skeleton draft and how to use Google tour builder. I also think I can make a card board astrolabe.

Reading letter 5

Dear Daniel and Theo

I am currently reading The red pyramid by Rick Riordan it is about two kids there name is Carter and Sadie I have not went far in the book yet.

If I were Carter I would be very scared because of all of the gods and creatures that kill people. There is a part in the book when Carters dad/Julius blew up a museum at the beginning of the book when he blew it up he was put in coffin now I wonder if he is dead or alive.

there is another part in the book when Carter and Sadie are taken to a mansion by there uncle his name is Amos. When Carter and Sadie are taken to there rooms they were locked in the room I wondered if Amos was bad or good but in the morning he unlocked the doors. I think he locked them so Carter and Sadie would be safe.

Fractions was very frustrating because of all of the simplifying the fractions all the time and the multiplication. But I think I have improved in memorizing the multiplication in my head and I am also improving on simplifying I think I have improved in fractions.

Dear Danial and Theo,
I am currently reading The house of Hades by Rick Riordan it is about 7 demigods on a quest to stop Gaea. When Percy and Annabeth are in Tartarus there are a lot of times when they are about to die but they end up staying alive. I have not read a book when this happens this much before this is one thing I like about this book. There is one part in the book when one of the demigods are on an island and I wonder how he will get back.
