These rice fields so impressive that it is hard to believe that they were created in a very simple way, without modern agricultural technology and the human hand very industrious peasants. Most terraced rice fields were made in mountain areas where water resources and fertile land. They are built into the steep slopes of intense physical work. Rice fields paddies are created near a natural body of water - usually a river, lake or swamp because rice requires lots of water for irrigation.

Most often found in east, south and southeast Asia, where the climate is very similar to the Mediterranean. In South China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Thailand.

Tourists are usually enchanted by the stunning terraced Rice fields addies on the mountain slopes and many of them circling for hours or even days to examine and contemplate their beauty.

They stop to enjoy the beautiful green and yellow-ripened Rice fields which at sunset is more beautiful. Seen from above, many of the terraced fields look like trays of sticky rice, located between streams and pine forests.

Louisiana State Capital Building is an important building in Louisiana , which is located in Baton Rouge. The building is the office of governor.

Louisiana State Capital Building is a high one hundred thirty-seven meters, there are thirty-four floors and is the largest building in the U.S. Capitol, the tallest building in the Bethune Rouge and the seventh tallest building in Louisiana. It is located on twenty-seven acre parcel which includes Capitoline gardens.

Louisiana State Capital is made of limestone produced in Alabama (Alabama). It is a gorgeous example of a building constructed in the style of classicism with elements of Art Deco. Such features were typical of buildings in the twenties of the last century.

The building is decorated with sculpted scenes from American history and the history of Louisiana, who are concentrated mostly in the beautiful tower of the building. Okoloko main entrance is engraved in stone, which reads: "We have lived long, but this is the noblest work of noble life." This quote is from Robert Livingston (Robert Livingston), who said that phrase in 1803.

At the main entrance stairs lead to the names of the states of the U.S. in order of accession of each of these States to the Union. After the first thirteen steps to symbolize the original thirteen states, is a small platform, and continue behind the stairs again to present and other states. Forty-ninth step presents Alaska (Alaska) and Hawaii (Hawaii) together as they joined the Union in 1959, after the building has been built.

Louisiana State Capital building replaced the old Capitol building, which was built in 1847. The new building was part of the campaign of Governor Huey Long (Huey Long) in 1928. Long signed a contract with the architectural firm of New Orleans (New Orleans)., Who had to design the building.

Excavation began in 1930 after Long was elected governor of Louisiana, and the building was finally built in 1932. Construction of the new building cost five million dollars.

Ironically, in the Louisiana State Capital building in 1935 Long, who has become a senator at the time, was wounded by an assassin. Senator Long died two days after the attack. His body was buried within the Capitol gardens.

There is a monument erected, which is a statue which depicts him holding a model of his building stands proudly in the English garden in the shadow of the tower, which was part of the political platform of Huey Long.

To this day the bullet holes can be seen on the wall of the building. Modern building at Louisiana State Capital will forever be linked to the political career of Huey Long.
Chungara Lake is one of the highest and most beautiful mountain lakes in the world, is located in the national park Lauka (Lauca) in northern Chile. Chungara Lake is located in the neck of an extinct volcano, which is located 4,517 m above sea level at the foot of the volcano Parinakota (Parinacota).

Chungara lake was created eight thousand years after the volcano erupted and caused the Parinakota outpouring of six cubic kilometers of lava. This interrupted the flow of some rivers and Lake Chungara created.
But the lack of rain in no way affects the greenery in the area - the plants get enough water from the lake, which has crystal clear water rich in minerals.

Dead Sea is called dead, because due to the high content of salt in its waters, it can not live fish or other marine organisms. But this is not true, although long this thesis is located rebuttal. In 1959 the water of the Dead Sea was opened wide and diverse world of plants and microorganisms.

This is the deepest salt lake in the world, is located in the lowest part of the land. The Dead Sea is located in the Jordan Valley, the West Bank (West Bank), Israel (Israel) and Jordan (Jordan).

The lake Dead Sea is divided into two parts - north, which is deeper and south, a shallow (only 6 m), which contains the large pillars of salt, resembling icebergs. During summer temperatures there reached 50 degrees Celsius and the waters of the Jordan River and several smaller streams evaporate quickly, leaving deposits of clay, sand, rock salt and gypsum in the bottom of the lake. In wetter winters in the Dead Sea is poured over 6 day, 5 million tons rainfall. It was found that in the absence of evaporation rate will rise to 3 meters per year.

The Dead Sea is closed and no drains. In this deepest part of the Jordan Valley area it occupies an area of 1,020 square kilometers and is 76 kilometers in length and 17 km in width. Its average depth is 161 m, in places reaches 400 meters below the ground.

If one liter of sea water containing 35 g different salts, then in one liter of water from the Dead Sea - 300 grams. And the composition of Dead Sea salts are substantially different from other seas of our planet. If they prevail salt component 77%, the water of the Dead Sea, its content is only 30%.

Australians call it the eighth wonder of the world, but this is probably an understatement. The Great Barrier Reef is the only living organism on the planet that is visible from space. Spread over 1930 km of between 16 and 80 km from the coast of Queensland, he is not one reef and a set of 2900 smaller reefs with about 300 islands scattered between them. The largest marine reserve in the world, the Great Barrier Reef is inhabited by many species of amazing sea creatures tremely 500 species of colorful hard and soft coral, 1,500 species of fish and 4,000 types of mollusc.
Hallstatt is one of the earliest populated and still inhabited places in Europe. Here is the oldest salt mine in the world, around the age of 7000, and in 1846 also found prehistoric necropolis, which scientists date from the Iron Age. In salt sediments is open and entirely preserved body of a miner from the 3rd century BC

Hallstatt is very small, it can be all around in less than an hour. In the 2001 census, the population numbered only 946 inhabitants. This does not mean that there is nothing to see. Beautiful houses built close together, overlooking the lake waters, towering above the clock tower and mountain peaks ... View, which can stop your breath! Amazing Hallstatt !

Hallstatt is located on the lakeside of the road between Salzburg and Graz. Fastest to it can be reached by rail or water. The station is located on the east side of the lake. From there to the lake city is accessible by ferry, which opens one of the most beautiful views of the city. Today in Hallstatt can be reached by car, but then the road is much longer.

Hallstatt is equally beautiful in summer when the weather is suitable for water sports or simply relax on the beach and in the winter. Then it is time for skiers.
Since 1996, Hallstatt is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Nature in Sithonia . This bag is called "symphony of green and blue" because these are the colors you see around you constantly. Rich vegetation leads to the blue waters of the Sithonia beach. The beaches are divided into smaller or larger bays of rocks and most of them are completely empty because the way there is black and not visible from the main road. Water and other sleeves is crystal clear, transparent and peaceful. However, the bottom of the beach is very rocky and well to beware of sea urchins. The water is salty from the Black Sea and is much easier to stay afloat. Boiling sea of life, and if you get water glasses, you can see schools of fish passing, small octopuses and sea snail. The sieve is also one of the largest camps in Europe - Armenistis. Restaurants, gift shops, bakeries and supermarkets have in each town, even the smallest. If you like nightlife and entertainment in the early hours of the day, choose one of the larger resorts, but this is definitely not your place. Some campgrounds are We organize beach parties, but should be checked prior period. For boat trip follows the same advice that we have given in the description of Cassandra. In most places (especially urban) offered car and ATV rentals. Location. Kassandra is the westernmost and most populated sleeve Halkidiki, named after the ancient king Cassander. To get there go through Thessaloniki or rather ring in Thessaloniki, unless you want to wait a few hours of traffic lights in the city. The road from Thessaloniki to Halkikidi is unidirectional and right, the first settlement of the sleeve is less than 70 km. Individual resorts (or rather villages) are located a few kilometers from each other, so please feel free to walk around the vicinity without being bored. If you have a car you can move, you can always rent a bike, motorcycle or ATV, or boarding the coaches.
Quite often you can hear the name Pallini. This is neither a village nor a city but the old name of Kassandra, which today is the name of one of its municipalities. There is a hotel of the same name near Kalithea.

Nature. Every place has its own atmosphere and all of them are worth seeing. The water everywhere is crystal clear and very, very blue when looking down on the sea. The water is salty and float more easily. In places there are stones on the bottom, below which lie sea urchins, so be careful as you step on them or get aqua shoes (€ 5). The waves are very rare on the east coast and the sea is almost always smooth as a mirror. Since water is clear and calm, you can observe life in it with or without water glasses - fish, sea snail, small octopus, starfish and sea urchins. Fish are sometimes playful and can shove if you stay too long in one place without moving. Instead mussels along a small colored stones. Algae will.
The vegetation of the sleeve is provided by olive trees, palms and oleanders. Some resorts are growing pine trees and hence the feeling of sea and mountains in one place.

Beaches. In July and August it pretty village. The beaches of the sleeve are not the same everywhere - some are just fine sand and other sand mixed with pebbles. At the bottom of the sea around the coast often have stones. Part of sunbeds paid (6 euros for two sunbeds and umbrella). Other institutions and are not paid, but require consumption (frappe - 3-5 euros soda - 3-4 euros and mineral water - € 1). There is enough space between the chairs, not to push the neighbors, and a small table between the two lounges under an umbrella. Of course, you can always go outside the resort one of the desert beaches.

Hotels and restaurants. There are all kinds and many. The most frequent visitors are Serbs, Russians, Bulgarians and English speakers, so you'll have no problems with language. No high building, hotels, even the higher categories have a maximum of four floors, make a few exceptions and they are few and far between for the entire sleeve. Afternoon siesta there, so do not be surprised if some stores or bakeries were closed for several hours. However, all night working late.

Entertainment. Some of the resorts organize day tours by boat to the other two branches, which includes lunch. Deserve to sign for them, but it's nice to know some things in advance because most likely you will not tell them there. Tickets purchased in advance may the evening of the next day. Go for at least half an hour earlier before departure instructions - no tickets with reserved seats do not have enough boats covered benches for all passengers (at least in high season) and you may sit in place of the sun or the railing of the ship with legs dangling down . Required grab a hat and dress with long sleeves - while the ship is moving polahva wind and you will not feel how you burn. If you think you sick during the trip, ask your anti-sickness pill by the master or crew (usually any).

Water sports are not available in all the resorts, so if you keep any, research questions in advance. In every village has at least one children's playground with swings.
In addition to tours of Mount Athos and Sithonia, other excursions offered in the larger resorts are visiting the Petralona cave near Thessaloniki and one day in Waterland - a great waterpark, again near Thessaloniki.

Palace of Parliament in Bucharest

Parliament Palace in Bucharest (Bucharest), Romania.

Olympic Stadium in Munich is known as the Olympic. It is located in the heart of Olympia Park in the northern part of town. The stadium was built for the summer Olympics in 1972. The stadium holds 80,000 people and has hosted so many football matches during the World Cup Final in 1974 and the final of Euro 88. Olympic Stadium in Munich has hosted the European Cup finals in 1979, 1993 and 1997.

By 2006 the stadium was the site for training to Bayern Munich (Bayern Munich), Munich 1860 (1860 Munich).

The stadium was designed by German architect Gunter Benin (Günther Behnisch) and engineer Frei Otto (Frei Otto). The time the Olympic stadium design was a revolution in architecture.

Large awnings are made of acrylic glass stabilized by steel cables that were used for the first time such a large scale. The idea is similar to the stadium of the Alps (Alps). Designers were inspired by the Summer Olympics held in 1936 during the Nazi regime. Transparent materials were intended to be a symbol of the new, democratic and optimistic Germany.

The stadium was built in a huge pit dug by bombing during World War II. This seriously ease the construction of the stadium. The stadium was built just four years - from 1968 to 1972.

After the Olympic stadium is the home of football club Bayern Munich, as well as their rivals - Munich 1860. Since 2005, the stadium hosts the annual competition in snowboarding, which are valued mostly style of movement of players.

In 2006, the stadium becomes the first place that hosts ski race Tour de Ski (Tour de Ski). The artificial snow was made of the stadium through a combination of hot air with cold water, to resemble snow, which can be seen in the Alps.

In 2007 the stadium hosted the European Cup Gilt (Spar), which brings together athletes from eight countries across Europe.

Apart from being a place for sports stadium is also used for outdoor concerts. At the stadium were shot movies and videoalbumi certain groups.

One of the attractions of the stadium is climbing the roof, which is offered by specialized companies. It seems easy to be conquered architectural elevations, mimicking the Alps, but they are challenging. There must be a climber to participate in a two-hour climb. The only thing you need are good shoes and courage. Successful climb will be rewarded with spectacular views of the stadium and the city. From the roof of the stadium can even see the Alps. The climbs are made from April to November. One requirement is that the age of the climbers is at least ten years.

The park near the stadium is a place where they organize exhibitions, concerts and sporting events. Olympic Park is located amidst greenery, a pond with ducks and walk not only tourists but also residents of Munich. Complex and the aquarium is open, full of various fish species - both those that may be encountered in domestic and exotic species.

Attraction is a walk of stars, where various celebrities who have visited the Olympic Park, have left their footprints.

The Pantheon of Paris

Pantheon (Pantheon) is a building in the Latin Quarter of Paris Paris. The Pantheon was originally built as a church m honor of St. Genoveva (St. Genevieve), but after many changes now she plays the role of the mausoleum, which houses the mortal remains of famous French citizens.

The building is one of the first buildings constructed in the spirit of neoclassicism, its facade is modeled on the Pantheon in Rome. Pantheon is covered with a majestic dome.

The architect who designed the Pantheon, a soufflé, Germany Jacques (Jacques-Germain Soufflot), who wanted to combine the grandeur of a gothic cathedral with classical principles. The architect died before seeing his creation completed. Lightness and transparency, he sought and was not achieved, but this does not diminish the architectural value and beauty of the building, which was the first great neoclassical monument.

In 1744 King Louis Fifteenth (Louis XV) vowed that if he can recover from a severe illness which knocked the bed, he will build on the ruins of the abbey church of Saint Genoveva magnificent building. Once recovered, he set out to make this promise. He loaded the Marquis Francois Pouson Abel (Abel-François Poisson) with the task to deal with the implementation of this major project. In 1755 Marquis hired architect Jean-Germany soufflé and construction of the building began after two years.

The design of the monumental building is a classic Greek cross, with massive Corinthian columns and porticoes. The building has a length of 110 m wide is 84 meters and 83 meters high. The crypt of the Pantheon is huge. The dome of the building is triple, the second dome is painted on the inside with exquisite frescoes Apotheosis of St. Genoveva.

Foundations were laid in 1758, but due to economic problems of France at that time, with much work goes slow. The building was completed in 1790, which coincides with the early stages of the French Revolution. National Constituent Assembly ordered that it be modified by the church mausoleum in place for disposal of some of the greatest Frenchmen.

In 1851 physicist Leon Foucault (Léon Foucault) demonstrates the rotation of the Earth with an experiment that was conducted in the Pantheon, by building a 67-meter Foucault pendulum under the central dome. The original area of the pendulum was exposed in the Pantheon in the nineties of last century, but today there is a copy of the original, and he is in the art museum. From 1906 to 1922

Pantheon was the place where she was exposed to the famous sculpture by Auguste Rodin (Auguste Rodin) "The Thinker".

In 2006, antique clocks of the Pantheon was completely renovated.

Above the entrance of the Pantheon has the words "AUX GRANDS HOMMES LA PATRIE RECONNAISSANTE" ("On the great men the grateful homeland"). Funerals here are strictly prohibited and are allowed only by parliamentary act and then for national heroes.

Among those buried in the necropolis of the Pantheon known French figures such as Voltaire (Voltaire), Rousseau (Rousseau), Victor Hugo (Victor Hugo), Emile Zola (Émile Zola), Marie Curie (Marie Skłodowska-Curie), and the architect of building - Jacques-Germany souffle. Due to rumors that the remains of Voltaire were stolen from the Pantheon and thrown in the garbage is gone so far as the coffin with his remains was open to be proven that they are still there. Pantheon is a symbol of Paris.

Les Invalides Paris

House of Invalids (Les Invalides) is a place in Paris, France. It represents several buildings together in a whole complex of monuments military history. House of Invalids was originally intended for the treatment and rehabilitation of veterans.

In the House of disabled military museum is located in the French army, and the museum of modern history. The place is known mostly by the fact that here were buried in one of the greatest Frenchmen who were heroes and the various wars. Among those buried here is the French emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.

The idea of building the House of Invalids belonging to King Louis XIV (Louis XIV). In 1670 he started the construction of a home for sick soldiers. The original name of the building and the whole complex was Hospital of Invalids, but gradually became known as the House of Invalids. Design of the complex belongs to the architect Liberal Bruan (Libéral Bruant). In 1676 his project was recreated in reality. The complex had several major sites, one of which was used for military parades.

At that time, veterans have complained that they had no chapel to pray. Then Bruan was supported by the architect Jules Arduino Mansar (Jules Hardouin Mansart) and two years later - in 1679 - the chapel was completed. The chapel is named Elise Saint-Louis (Église Saint-Louis). After the death of Bruan Mansar architect designed a special royal chapel, which was inspired by St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. The chapel is decorated with typical Baroque dome and is considered one of the masterpieces of French Baroque architecture. The chapel was completed in 1708. Inside of the dome is decorated with frescoes by Charles de la Fosse (Charles de La Fosse), that affect its purity.
They are buried there in 1861.
The crater is located in the mountains Kotanud (Cottonwood). The crater is an impressive size - it is one kilometer wide and 237 meters deep. The crater was created seven thousand years ago. The crater was formed Ubehebe when magma has approached the surface and the flow of hot magma is erupted, it is ejected huge amounts of magma and rock fragments. This magma is erupted through a hole in the mountain Tin (Tin). This flow of lava has totally changed Kotanud mountain.

Ubehebe name means "large basket on the scale" of the ancient language of the Indians Timbisha (Timbisha). Originally named the crater was known as Tempintauosa (Tem-pin-tta-Wo'sah), which means "basket of coyotes."

As a result of large explosions of steam formed large volcanic craters. Ubehebe is the last and largest such crater that was formed in these volcanic eruptions. Near him is Little Hebei (Little Hebe). In one of the explosions was thrown Ubehebe flow piroklastika. This happened after a big pillar of steam was thrown into the sky and a cloud received a donut-shaped, which consisted of gas and volcanic ash. Once magma erupted, she met with surface water, thus forming a volcano-type Maara (maar). The western part of Maara volcanoes in Death Valley was formed first, then followed and south.

Sturdy base and walls of the crater Ubehebe are formed during the Miocene and are red-orange in color. These sediments contain limestone, quartzite and volcanic cobbles which have a diameter of twenty centimeters. Some sediments are yellow, others bright orange. The difference in color is due to the difference in age, in which were deposited various sediments. Ubehebe bottom of the crater is completely covered with the white silt peculiar as the roof and the bottoms of some craters in nearby Death Valley.

Tourists can go on special paths which are three in number. One of them leads to the bottom of the crater, another passes along its edge, and the third leads to Little Hebei. But you have to provide special equipment, as the winds along the edge of the crater Ubehebe reach up to eighty miles an hour.

The road to the bottom of the crater is easy, but climbing up can be exhausting. A walk around the rim is moderately difficult, but requires concentration and experience in similar walks. It is a long mile and a half - this is the distance of the return. This route can take you to some of the smaller craters.

When you go this route, stay on trail, since the very edge of the crater is very loose, making it extremely unstable.

Ash explosions from the volcano covered much of the area around the crater Ubehebe. Ash is visible from afar, it appears if you drive up the hill to the parking area. Ash is seen in the dry bed of ancient Lake Rogers (Rogers), which is in the northern part of Death Valley. At the edge of the crater Ubehebe ash is so much higher that one hundred and fifty steps.

Water erosion have created deep gorges that are visible on the east side of the crater. At the bottom of the crater was Ubehebe lakes, which were very short lifetime. Of them remained different shade pink and brown sediment. There are many clusters of craters on the west and south of Ubehebe, towards Little Hebei.

Fifth Avenue in New York

The biggest shopping street in New York has Fifth Avenue. It is adopted the name Gate of Victory. This is a triumphal arch with three fused arches, crowned with the statue of Bavaria.

Arch in Munich and is a lot like the arch of Constantine (Constantin) in Rome. This is mainly due to the fact that the idea of the arch design was inspired just by the arch of Constantine in Rome.

Victory Gate in Munich looks like and Marble Arch in London. Arch of Victory Gate is located between the Ludwig Maximilian University (Ludwig Maximilian) and Omshtrase (Ohmstraße), exactly where he Leopoldshtrase (Leopoldstraße).

The Ark was built by order of King Ludwig First (Ludwig I). He is keen to celebrate the victories of the Bavarian troops. Therefore, the arch is decorated with four majestic lions and battle reliefs that symbolize the victories of the Bavarian troops. Four lions were harnessed to a chariot, which is operated by Juno - a symbol of Bavaria winner.

King Ludwig's first completely self financed the construction of the door of victory - the cost of construction of the beautiful monument was 420,000 florins, equivalent to over € 700,000 to date. King wanted to be remembered forever as a Bavaria disposal of Napoleon from Germany. This arch has always been a symbol of German power.

The architect of the arch is Friedrich von Gertner (Friedrich von Gärtner). The arch was completed by Edouard Metzger (Eduard Mezger). The construction of the magnificent monument began in 1843. After nine years - in 1852 the arch was finished.

Lions and the woman with the chariot are the work of sculptor Martin von Wagner (Martin von Wagner). Used instead of horses in war scenes were chosen not only lions as the symbol of victory, but because the lion was the symbol of the ruling family of the Bavarian Wittelsbach monarchy (Wittelsbach). Although it was initially created as a symbol of the triumph of Bavarian troops door to victory today is a monument that symbolizes peace.

During World War II triumphal arch was destroyed. Lions have fallen and been broken for bombing during the war. Arch door of victory was only partially restored after the destruction caused by bombs. So the back of the arch are the words "dedicated to victory, destroyed by war, reminiscent of peace" that belong to Hauzenshtayn Wilhelm (Wilhelm Hausenstein), famous German historian and diplomat. From the northern part of the arch are the words: "The Bavarian army."

In recent years, the statues of four lions and a woman in the chariot, were accurately restored to their original beauty back.

The door of victory - 21 meters high and 24 meters wide. Having lived through the days of victory and war, today it is seen mostly in the lively traffic in Munich. The door of victory is one of the most photographed landmarks and is especially beautiful at night.

Palace Chaillot Paris

Palace Chaillot is located in Paris Trocadero . The palace was built for World Expo in 1937. Chaillot palace was erected at the Trocadero palace, which do not win the love of Paris.

The monumental palace wings were joined by a spacious terrace with a splendid view of the Eiffel Tower. The terrace and view of the spacious hall, which leads to the Seine and sinks in greenery and picturesque fountains.

Under the palace, the site of former quarries, was created a huge aquarium - Sinakua (Cinéaqua). There are over ten thousand inhabitants of the underwater world. It was built during the construction of the Trocadero Palace. The aquarium has undergone restoration twice, and in 2006 its ultra modern halls reopened for visitors.

Today the palace is located museum of mankind, and the National Maritime Museum. In 1937 the palace had become a center for World Expo, in conjunction with the Museum of Contemporary Art, built in the same year. Chaillot Palace is a monumental complex of two buildings with nearly cubic widely deployed curved wings that were collected from shestdesetmetrova terrace. Passage between two buildings is softened by increasing volumes of blur facade panels. This method of symmetry and kaskadnost attaches great beauty of the whole building.

Colonnades of the palace Chaillot are reminiscent of the classics. Under the terrace is contained the great hall of the National Theatre, which gives fans a great theater scene.

Palace goes twenty-Six Feet Under. Apart from the museum of humanity and maritime museum in the ground level has a museum of French monuments, but also a museum of French folk art and traditions. The palace has Chaillot architectural museum.

Chaillot palace its name from the old medieval castle, which was called the same way. In the sixteenth century, Catherine de Medicis ordered to build a castle on the hill Chaillot. Then the castle was inhabited by the Marshal of Bassompire. He was sent to the Bastille (Bastille), which burned over six thousand love letters he received from his wife. In 1651 Queen Henrietta (Henrietta) palace became a place of relaxation for many famous ladies.

Subsequently, the mountain located in this area was called Trocadero in honor of the Spanish conquest of the fortress of the same name in 1823. In 1878 Paris hosted World Expo palmitate and Trocadero Palace was built, which was very large but extremely ugly. He stood nearly sixty years before being razed to the ground, which none of the Parisians not pity. Trocadero Palace was a mixture of Byzantine and Arab architecture, but the two styles were not in harmony with one another.

The new building of the palace was built, designed by architect Leon Azem (Léon Azema), Carlos Jacques (Jacques Carlu) and Louis Hippolyte Bualo (Louis-Hippolyte Boileau).

Chaillot palace set in a classic structural style is characteristic monument of architecture of the thirties of the twentieth century. It is built of concrete and white stone, which serves as a cladding of the facade. Chaillot palace was built on the foundations of the palace Trocadero. Chaillot palace is decorated with bronze statues of Hercules and Apollo (Apollo), which rise to the wings of the palace. Words of French poet Paul Valery (Paul Valéry) decorate the building.

Fortress of Trier Porta Nigro

Fortress of Trier Porta Nigro is a unique historical monument from the Roman era, which today represents a unique connection to the modern German city of Trier with its historical past. Extremely well preserved Porta Nigro is arguably the most historic landmark in Trier, and the largest Roman gate, which can be seen north of the Alps.

Trier is considered the oldest city in Germany and as such has long history which has bequeathed generations of these great monuments. Porta Nigro in Trier listed as a World Historical nalsedstvo of UNESCO, together with the Cathedral of Trier, which is considered the oldest Catholic church in the country.

Porta Nigro is the most ancient defensive structure in Germany. It was built about 180 years AD, when the entire Roman city was surrounded by fortified walls. In those ancient times Trier became a Roman colony from the 1st century sl.n.e and early second century established itself as a major commercial center of the field. Trier led by Fortress Gate Nigro became one of the capitals of the Roman Empire around the end of the third century, and parallel mining glory, as it was called the "Second Rome".

Porta Nigro is one of four Roman gates, still can be seen in Trier. Along with the other three are spoiled because the stone blocks and steel in their construction. The very name of Porta Nigro (Black Door) comes from the Middle Ages, when the inhabitants of Trier had named so because of the dark color of the rocks from which it was built.

Porta Nigro, unlike the unhappy fate of the other three city gates, remains intact, because it was used as the modest residence of a hermit monk named Simeon for seven years between 1028 and 1035. After the death of the monk Simeon Porta Nigro was converted into a church on two floors and named Saint-Simeon otshenik himself was buried in the temple.

The upper floor of Porta Nigro was used for the cloisters, and served as a liturgical dolniyato cloister. With the advent of Napoleon around 1803, the church in Porta Nigro was destroyed, with any part of the structure itself of the Roman gate. Dating from the 12th century Romanesque apse, however, survived and later Porta Nigro has been restored to the form which was in the Middle Ages.

Porta Nigro impresses with its design. It is only izdiganat of sandstone blocks, sandwiched with metal rods. No mortar, and each of the blocks weighing up to about six tons. Porta Nigro length reaches 118 feet, 70, 5 feet wide, and the whole building has a height of 90 feet. Today Porta Nigro has the status of a museum and visitors can see the remains of the former monastery of St. Simeon.

General Sherman tree

General Sherman tree is located in Sequoia National Park in the USA. This is the largest giant sequoia in the world, which is known to specialists. It grows in the Sierra Nevada, California .

This giant tree, to which people look like miniature, is not only the largest giant sequoia in the world, is the largest living creature on the planet - so wrote the plate in front of the tree. Giant sequoia is over 83 meters high, but that does not make it the tallest tree in the world. It has a trunk circumference of over 24 meters and circumference of the crown of its goals is 33 meters. The lowest branch of the famous tree is located 40 meters from the ground.

In the nineteenth century the area in which grows the famous tree was called the giant forest researcher John Muir, who exclaimed that the forest is a giant when he found the giant redwoods. This name - Giant forest - is preserved to this day for this part of the park. General Sherman Tree, which scares some people with its size, is likened by many tourists in the red-orange rock, whose top may not be seen. Every year this tree produces as much wood as would suffice for the erection of eighteen foot tall tree.

Tourists arriving at the park to see the General Sherman tree, always shoot up his trunk, near which seem very fragile and small.

Long been believed that General Sherman tree is over three thousand years, but recent studies have determined its age - it's exactly two thousand years. That does not make it the oldest tree in the world.

The oldest tree, which was in 4484 years, was a special kind of Californian pine that was cut in 1965. Years ago, they were cut redwoods at over three thousand years. It is believed that the planet still has trees on five thousand years.

In the winter of 2006 General Sherman tree has been deprived of a large branch of the crown. When the branch fell to the ground, he flattened the fence around the tree and damaged the path that leads to the giant sequoia, which caused a number of repairs.

Specialists believe that the loss of large tree branch is a way to react against changing weather conditions on our planet. Even after the fall of this giant General Sherman tree branch has not lost its status as the largest tree on the planet.

According to calculations by specialists of General Sherman tree weighs over 1300 tons. Tourists from around the world arrived in Sequoia National Park, just to be able to see General Sherman tree with his own eyes. It is named after the hero of the Civil War General William Sherman .

The tree can be reached by a special trail on which they can reach, and people with disabilities who have special parking places nearby. On a brick walkway steps that show to what extent the root system of the largest living thing on our planet.

Root system of the tree is huge and many people are attracted to the tree, which was witnessed great historical events and has seen the development of human civilization since the beginning of new era now. Each year diameter of the tree trunk of General Sherman grew by almost half an inch.

Millennium Park in Chicago

Millennium Park is located in Chicago. It is planned in 1997 to create a new park area in Grant Park. This was converted railway lines and park areas. This is the most impressive Millennium Project in the world. Chicago residents think their city is the greatest city and the fact that it is impressive Millennium Park.

The park stretches over 24.5 acres. He has become a center for displaying works of world class. The park regularly can hear performances of Grant Park Orchestra. One of the greatest architects - Frank Gehry (Frank Gehry) designed the Jay Pritzker Pavilion beautiful (Jay Pritzker), which is known as the finest outdoor stage in the U.S..

Millennium Park is a place which has long been considered sacred by the railway department of Illinois (Illinois). Grant Park was designed so that it is available along the railway lines and it was not the most beautiful sights in the city.

In 1977 a group of citizens proposed to build a new park, but their request was not approved due to lack of funding from the government. In the nineties of last century the question of the park was raised again.

The idea was to park officially opened in 2000, but there were problems with enforcement of deadlines, and budget is not reached on the implementation of the plan.

This delayed the completion of the park in four years. It was officially opened in 2004. Residents of Chicago are not satisfied that they had to wait four years since the park is one of the most beautiful sights around Chicago. The Park Millennium interesting events happening throughout the year.

If you first Millennium Park in the first drop into the Visitor Center to obtain detailed information on how to optimally use the potential of the park.
Another landmark of the park is Cloud Gate, a work by British artist Anish Kapoor, born in India. The sculpture resembles the bean, for which the residents of Chicago called "Bean". It weighs a hundred tons and is made of polished stainless steel. The polished steel reflecting the sky over Chicago, and in one part of the sculpture reflections multiply. Under the arch, which stands almost four feet tall, park visitors can go under the Cloud Gate and touch the smooth steel. In the language of the Navajo Indians Shiprock word translated as "winged rock."

Ancient Navajo legend says that a huge bird was brought them from their ancient place of habitation to these lands. Rock formations and surrounding land are very important to the Navajo.

In one of their legends tells that after the new life on the monolith, as leaving it only to drink water and forage, he was struck by lightning. Women and children remained above the men who were below, no longer how to reach them, bring them food and water.

It is considered taboo for people to climb on top, as they can angry spirits of the deceased.

Another legend says that the scale Shiprock healed and that it is part of a huge healer. His body is made of Chuska Mountains, Carrizo Mountains and represent his feet. Ancient Navajo legend tells of giant flying creatures that nest on top and eat people.

Some believe that the name of a rock formation comes from the tip too much like a large ship of the nineteenth century.

Near a rock formation is located and the city Shiprock which received its name from it. Shiprock formation plays an important role in the religion of Navajo in their mythology and their rituals. Shiprock rock formation is located in the heart of the civilization of ancient Indian pueblo, which represent a prehistoric culture in the southeastern United States. Pueblo Indians were called by many researchers with the name anasazi.

The rock formation Shiprock attracts a huge amount of tourists from around the world and climbers, and photographers who want to perpetuate the beautiful view.

Shiprock is formed through volcano that has erupted thirty million years. Magma, which becomes hard and pour plays an important role in Navajo culture, which it is considered sacred.

The central part of Shiprock is five hundred meters in diameter. The rock formation is composed of volcanic mass. In 1936 President Franklin Roosevelt signed a proclamation for the founding of the National Monument Ocmulgee, by requiring the Office of National Park Service to care and protect the land known as the Old Ocmulgee Fields.

Bandelier National Monument in New Mexico

Bandelier National Monument is located in an area of thirty-three thousand acres. It is located near Los Alamo in New Mexico. Bandelier National Monument is named after the famous Swedish anthropologist Adolph Bandelier, who studied cultures that inhabited this region and has contributed significantly to the study of the history of this region. Bandelier National Monument receives the status of a national monument on 11 February 1916.

This place was inhabited by people more than ten thousand years. The earliest inhabitants of this region were hunters and people who are collecting plants for a living. In 1550 the ancient Pueblo Indians were forced to find new land where to settle because of dwindling resources. So San Felipe, Santa Clara and Santo Domingo became a new home for the Indians. In the eighteenth century the Spaniards entered the canyon Friholes and later led Adolf Bandelier in this region.

The main attraction of Bandelier National Monument is Friholes canyon where the ruins of several buildings of the ancient Indian Pueblo. On the territory of the monument are other prehistoric Indian dwellings and place that served as a school of pottery craftsmanship of Pueblo Indians. There are also ceremonial equipment, and a number of rock paintings.

The dwellings of the ancient Indians were made of stone on stone platforms on the rocks, or an extended and adapted to living caves. Part of the dwellings of ancient Pueblo Indians are known as the Long House and built on the northern part of the canyon - the ancient Indians have carved hundreds of rooms that look like rooms. To access the dwellings of the ancient Indians built a terrace length of about two kilometers, starting from the center to visitors. Many of the dwellings of ancient Pueblo Indians are restricted.

Ceremonial cave was reconstructed to allow tourists to see it, but this can only be done by viewing through a small hole in the roof of the cave. By the ceremonial cave can only get enthusiastic tourist, as they have to climb four very steep stairs with a total length of one hundred and forty steps.
The area is crossed by several canyons that were created more than a million years by massive volcanic eruptions.

So much of the area is covered with volcanic ash. These are the remnants of powerful volcanic eruption of Valles Caldera more than one million years.

The memorial, which follows the format of this place submerged huge battleship, attracts a huge amount of tourists from around the world each year.

The last of the four giant cast on the ship bombs it split in two, which led to its sinking and the deaths of so many American military. The memorial was designed to recall the heroism of those who died during this attack.

At that time the place where the ship was sunk Arizona, was built Flagpoles, which may be displayed to remind everyone about the heroism of the fighters. President Dwight D. Eisenhower (Dwight Eisenhower) ordered to establish a memorial in 1958, and finalized the design happened three years later - in 1961.

To build a memorial Arizona, were used cash collected in two ways - by donations from individuals and from Congress. Arizona Memorial is a project created by the architect Alfred Price (Alfred Preis), who wanted his creation to inspire a sense of victory, and sorrow for the untimely death of the dead men who gave their lives for this battle became an important part of American history.

Each year the Arizona Memorial is visited by more than one million tourists who are attracted by the opportunity to feel the spirit of this historic place. Until the memorial can be reached in only one way - by boat. The floor of the building allowed to see the ruins of a submerged ship lying directly beneath it. To express their homage to those killed in the victory, the tourists have the custom to throw flowers into the water.

Tourists who visit the Arizona Memorial can examine in detail one of the three huge anchors that once held the historic ship in one place. Tourists can also see one of the ships' bells, which were two.

The building has a small plaque on which are inscribed the names of over thirty of the ship Arizona, which managed to survive the attack on the ship.

In fact, Arizona memorial is actually going U.S. military cemetery. In tribute to the ship and the crew who gave their lives in the historic battle over the memorial is waving American flag.

Even today the place where the tragedy unfolded for so American families can see patches of fuel remaining fuel from the submerged ship. These spots, which can be seen on the surface of water are known as the tears of Arizona, and also like black tears. Thus, even the ocean cries of the dead soldiers in this place.
