I find these claims to be accurate, I have been using this since 2013 to help with my dry yet acne prone skin.

How do I use it?

I always use this as my A.M cleanser and sometimes use it as my second cleanse at night if my skin is breaking out from trying new products. I use a little over a dime size amount for my face and neck. I work it into my skin with damp fingers for about 1-2 minutes.

This is a cleanser I know I can rely on to not irritate my skin and help clear it.

Whats the formula like?

The consistency of this product is a thin gel and I find a little product will get you far. This formula does not foam. The key in this formula in my opinion is the small amount of Salicylic Acid it has, which is really great for helping with acne without being excessively drying.

Does it have a fragrance?

This product does not have any added fragrance and to me has no discernible scent from its other ingredients.

Who would I recommend this to?

I think this would work especially well for acne prone skin users. I myself have dry acne prone skin and finding this was a game changer for my skincare routine.

I truly love this product it has done for me what so many other cleansers couldn't in helping clear up my skin.

This box is kind of a miss for me I like the lipstick and the eyeliner I'm sure I'll use. The Benefit Gimme Brow really isn't my color I'll try it but not excited about it. Deva Curl I can't stand the smell of.... The Fresh Lotus face cream has ingredients that my skin is sensitive to and I'm not risking messing my skin up more. The living proof foil packet sucks I HATE packet samples I would have rather had a perfume!

While most of these seems to on point I would not say that this product smooths skin or improves clarity. I find it tends to emphasize acne texture.

Application:
This can be used as a moisturizer, all over face primer, subtle highlighter, or mixed into another product. Also works well as a layering product for highlight, which is something I use it for quite a bit. My favorite product to layer this with is Mac’s Cream Colour Base in Luna.

Wear time:
I prefer to wear this on key areas of my face such as cheekbones, bridge of nose and cupids bow. The wear time in these areas is at least 10 hours for me. I don't like wearing it all over my face as it tends to emphasize acne texture and become oily on my t zone.

I would say that it does give the skin added hydration but as someone with dry skin I would not be able to use this as a stand alone moisturizer.

I find myself reaching for this even if I’m not wearing a full face of makeup. I like that it can give you a dewy skin look with little to no effort.

I still have quite a bit of product left after using it for 4 months and I do plan on repurchasing it. I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a subtle glow in a world of blinding highlights.

My Thoughts

This review comes after about 4 months of owning the product. I am pretty happy with it and hope it gives me as many years as my old flat iron did. I had that one for 7 years so I have pretty high expectations.

I chose this iron mainly because of its range of heat settings and the type of plate it uses.

350°F / 177°C
300°F / 149°C
260°F / 127°C

I use the second (300°F) and third (350°F) heat settings the most and I have fine but naturally curly hair. I find that on the third setting it does give me "single pass styling", I mostly use this on first day hair. The second setting I use for touching up my hair.

The plates are ceramic and tourmaline and these are supposed to be gentler on the hair and seal the cuticle better for frizz free styling. I honestly haven’t noticed much of a difference, it does make the hair smooth but the results are very similar to my old iron.

The heat selection and turning it on and off can be a bit clunky. The LED's are small and in a well lit room can be a little hard to see. I wish it had a digital display instead of the LED indicators I think that would make it easier and quicker to use.

The price of this flat iron is high and that's what stops me from saying I would buy it again. I picked this up when Ulta was offering 15% cash back thru Ebates, otherwise I would have waited for a sale.

I find I have to clean the plates and sides quite often to keep buildup off them. The rose gold section also needs constant cleaning because it loves picking up fingerprints.

The clips that this came with are pretty good I don't usually use clips like that but I am liking them for sectioning my hair during styling.

The heat protection pad it comes with is pretty thin and sometimes leaves behind some of its fibers on the iron after laying on it while hot. For it's price point I think you should get a better quality heat protection pad.

The following photo was when I used it on my air dried hair, I always put a bit of a curl in my hair and this does make it super easy to do that with no snagging. My hair is not in the best shape so yes there is still some frizz but as you can see its a big improvement from the air dried version.

Kevin Aucoin - The Sensual Skin Enhancer SX01 & SX02

I've heard lots of great things about the Kevin Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer but the full size is $48.00 and that wasn't something I was willing to pay if the color match wasn't spot on.

Luckily I was able to get these samples from Camera Ready Cosmetics for $4.99 each and as you can see the color is not a good match for those who never see the sun. I wont be doing a review on these because they are not a good match for me I will say though a little bit goes a long way and the product has a heavy perfume scent to it.

I've recently been getting into foundations and trying to find the right shade has been tricky. I'm very pale and most products tend to make me look pink-ish or worse are too dark even in the lightest shade. In my search for the palest of pale foundations I came across RCMA which offers an extensive range of colors of all skin tones.
After looking thru their selection I found that I could order samples of foundations from Camera Ready Cosmetics for $3.99 each. If your like me and have been thru too many foundations to count you'll understand why this is appealing when searching for that perfect match. Now I haven't really had a chance to truly use them but I have played around a bit and so far I like them perhaps I'll come back with a full review at another time but for now here are the swatches.

NUDESTIX Concealer Pencil in Light 1 & Lip and Cheek Pencil in Sin & Ripe

I've been meaning to write about these for quite some time now, they are awesome. So awesome that they have become part of my day to day routine, I find myself reaching for these more often than not. These are obviously used and not fresh out the package shots but I think that adds to this review!

Light 1 is the perfect concealer for me color wise because I'm very pale. I usually have trouble finding a good concealer due to that. It very blend-able and you can build it up a bit, my only con for this product is staying power. If I don't set it with a powder it comes off with the lightest touch. It can also crease a tiny bit but nothing a quick touch up can't fix.

Sin is my favorite lip product at the moment it's so natural in color that I can wear it everyday. Staying power is minimal on both Sin and Ripe as lip products any eating and drinking will pull them right off. Bonus though they are extremely moisturizing so re applying them is a win win for your lips. On the cheeks Ripe is my go to it doesn't make me look too pink which is something I usually find with blush being as pale as I am. I don't wear Sin on my cheeks much because of that reason it makes me look quite doll like and I'm not into that look. I find that they both stay on well when blended out on the cheeks.

Overall I would for sure buy these again and I plan on picking up some more from the NUDESTIX line!

I've been wanting to get these up for a few weeks now. I purchased these from Jeffree Star Cosmetics website during the last restock. These retail for $18.00 each for 0.19 oz of product. They are great lipsticks the colors are very opaque and even build-able. My only complaint with these is that they don't hold up well to eating so I find myself having to re-apply.

For me personally I find applying these with a lip brush is much easier to control than the doe footed applicators. Formula wise they feel cushiony on the lips and I didn't find them to be drying. You must exfoliate your lips really well before using these otherwise the application turns out a bit patchy.

You can also mix them to create your own colors. I've had a lot of fun doing that and you don't need a whole lot of product a little will go a long way.

My favorite is Unicorn Blood, I'm a sucker for deep colors so it won me over pretty easily. I'm also surprised by how much I like Celebrity Skin it's very flattering even on someone as pale as me. I also like Queen Supreme but if you've followed me for awhile you know I'm no stranger to pink lipsticks so it was kind of a given that I would like that one.

It's been quite awhile since I made a post of any value here but that is about to change. I've decided that it's time to dust off the blog and pick it back up because I really do miss writing and the beauty community as a whole. Before my hiatus I was really into the subscription box world and doing sponsored content as I go forward I wont be doing either of those things and I'll mainly be sticking to beauty product reviews. I think the burn out I felt was caused by doing sponsored content and the subscription reviews, in the end it really took the fun out of blogging for me.

Looking back at the amount of money I poured into subscription boxes is kind of embarrassing. I was really caught up in the hype and the gamble of what might be in them. Going forward I just want to put out good content without the pressure of having the next hot box or product.

Warby Parker Home Try On

I recently got a new glasses prescription and have been searching around for some new sunglass frames. I was going to buy them at the optical store I was at but polarized lenses were going to be a small fortune so I decided to look online to see if I could find a more reasonable price. Enter Warby Parker, they offer polarized sunglasses for a price that will allow you to buy them and not live off ramen noodles for the rest of the month. They start at $95 for non prescription and $150 for prescription lenses.

These frames are from there "Try at Home" program, pick 5 frames and they send them to you for free. You have to send them back of course but that's easy too just slap the pre paid postage label on the box drop it off with your mail carrier and you're all done.

Here are some shots of the frames I tried, my least favorite are the Raskin they do not work with my face shape. Favorite is Paley because the Blue Marblewood color is adorable and the shape is okay. I also like the Neville but the key hole bridge is a deal breaker for me.

Popsugar Must Have December 2013

Oh the disappointment this box was! I've been dreading writing this post and that's why it's more than a month late. Alas the time has come to talk about this major fail of a box that was the December 2013 POPSUGAR Must Have box. As many of you know I've been a supporter of this box for quite some time and have been generally pleased with it until these last few months. The price of the box was raised and the two boxes that followed (November and December) just were not worth the price point. The items in this box were not unique fun or even interesting.

This is the box that has caused me to finally cancel my subscription with POPSUGAR Must Have. I'm going to try to do this quick like ripping off a bandage, lets get on with it!

Lulu Frost for Popsugar | Bracelet
This bracelet which I didn't have a chance to photograph has a gold chain and silver charm on it. You can see it here on the POPSUGAR reveal blog. My problem with this piece is again it's mostly gold, every piece of jewelry POPSUGAR sent out in 2013 was gold. Enough with the gold! (end rant) Also on the back of the charm it was engraved with a advertisement reading Lulu Frost for POPSUGAR. No I'm not going to be a walking billboard.

goVino Go Anywhere | Flutes
These are just sad little plastic cups shaped like champagne flutes. I can see how some people would like them but they seriously look just like a clear plastic bottle. I will never use these as they look cheap and tacky.

ModelCo Fiber Lash Extend Mascara
This was the one useful item in this box that I actually used. The mascara is just okay though nothing to write home about.

Mixt Studio Holiday Gift Wrapping Set
This paper was very thin and not big enough to wrap a clothing gift box. It ripped during wrapping and I had to throw it away. Translation this wrapping paper was useless, thanks POPSUGAR.

NCLA Peppermint Lane Nail Wraps (Not Pictured)
These are more like nail stickers than nail wraps. I do not like these they fit onto my nail funny they are not big enough to cover the whole nail.

Sigh this box has three food items and while I dont so much mind food for the price point they should have sent something that was at least unique.

CC Made Caramel Popcorn
I actually gifted this away so I cannot comment on it's taste.

Ghiradelli Chocolates | Holiday and Milk and Caramel
These were good but when I can pick them up at the grocery store for $2 they are not a must have.

I did not do a MSRP box total for this one, just looking at the items I can tell it was just barely scrapping by the promised $100 MSRP value.

Nicka K New York | Nail Color
This red color is nice but I found the formula to be thin and quite tacky. Also the shape of the handle was odd and I didn't like it at all.

NYX | Extra Creamy Round Lipstick
This was one of the items I didn't so much mind. I like NYX and this one was okay though I would have liked a more bold color.

Be a Bombshell | The One Stick
This is just okay I found it to be pretty hard to work with, it's not very creamy.

POP Beauty | Bright Up Your Life Eyeshadow Trio
I found this to be a bit meh, the colors were very dark and didn't work well for me.

English Laundry | Signature Fragrance
These items were the worst! They smelled awful and they leaked during shipping making everything in the bag smell. I usually like perfume but this was just so strong and grandma scented there was no way I would ever wear it.

I am super super late with this Ipsy Glam Bag post for November. I've been super busy with other projects, sorry guys! I hope you all had a great holiday yesterday.

The November 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag featured over 20 different variations from everything I've read so I'm not going to be able to tell you guys about what others received. I honestly can't keep up with all the different variations!

This month's theme was "Glam It Up" and featured products to get you ready for the holidays. Also featured in every bag was a product from Michelle Phan's new cosmetic line Em. I haven't tried out the eyeliner I was sent from her line yet so I can't speak to it's quality.

My favorite product in this bag would have to be the be a bombshell lip crayon, it's a really pretty color! Sorry I dont have pics of it in this post if you want to see it let me know and I will instagram something.

Least favorite product in this bag would be the Kiss false eyelashes, they are dreadful. They are way too stiff and unnatural looking. If you need a pair of lashes get Ardell!

For once I actually went spoiler free for this POPSUGAR Must Have Box and I have to say I think I may have liked it a bit better because it was a surprise. I've come to realize I'm on a bit of a subscription box burnout so avoiding spoilers was helpful.

I'm only posting my instagram picture of this box because I'm busy working on another project. If you have any questions or want to see another view of anything let me know and I will instagram it.

Michael Stars Wrap | MSRP $42.00
This wrap is super soft and while it isn't in a pattern I would normally pick out I do like it. I'm more likely to wear this as a scarf than a wrap but it will be perfect for the winter season in SF since it's not too thick.

Illume Candle | MSRP $15.75
There are two versions of this candle being sent out Naughty and Nice. I received the Naughty (how did they know?). This smells like a light men's cologne scent and I really like it's also a soy candle which is nice. The wax had some separation from the glass which isn't a big deal since I plan on burning it but is an easy fix before sending out, minus points for that.

Lands' End Canvas Wine Tote | MSRP $14.50
Your all probably going to think I'm nuts for what I'm about to say but, I don't drink wine. Ever. It gives me the worlds worst migraine headache so I avoid it at all costs. This however will be gifted to one of my many wine drinking friends for the holidays so not a complete loss.

Masison De Monaco Strawberry & Blackcurrant cream Preserves | MSRP $6.00
Nice to see a San Francisco company in this box. I have seen these in stores around town but never picked it up so I'm looking forward to trying it.

The Soap & Paper Factory Roland Pine Shea Butter Soap | MSRP $8.00
I'm not really digging the way this pine soap smells... It's um very outdoorsy and I'm not the outdoorsy type.

Not a "gift card" as they state it is and if I remember correctly we got a similar item around this time last year. The company does make awesome prints however they are quite pricey.

Barefruit Crunchy Sea Salt Caramel Apple Chips
These were so gross. They smelled bad like old apples and I literally had to spit it out. I'm not even going to count this item toward the box MSRP.

I was happy to see very little advertising for other subscriptions in this months box. This box's retail value totals out to $90.24 wah wah wahhh, as you guys know I never count "coupon codes" towards my MSRP values because they are coupons not actual items they have no cash value. I'm very disappointed that the promised $100 MSRP value can't be achieved with this box unless you add that coupon code.

When I first opened this box I was okay with the selection of items. After thinking on this more I am not happy about the value or the number of items I received especially with the price increase that just happened at the start of this month. I do not feel I got my money's worth for this now $45 (with tax and price increase) box. I almost feel a little cheated by them because the price went up on my end but the quality didn't go up on theirs.

It's looking like next month will be the end of my POPSUGAR affair and as of right now I can say I don't think I will miss, it unless next month they pull a rabbit out of a hat.

I am super late getting this Ipsy Glam Bag post up and because of that I'm not going to go into detail about these items. I'm sure you guys have seen them and there are so many variations I just can't keep up with all of them. I will tell you guys about a bit about these products and how I like them so far.
Zoya Polish in Satin and Cashmere | Mason
Amazing color really happy with this being sent to me. I haven't had a chance to put it on yet but I love the color in the bottle.

Bella Terra Mineral Cosmetics | Eyeshadow in Navy Blue
Mine is a navy blue shade and while it's not one of my go to colors, since I have blue eyes. I'm sure I will find some use for it.

Sexy Hair Spray Clay
Love this stuff! I spray it in my roots and it gives me great hold and volume without feeling dirty or crunchy.

L.A. Fresh Oil Free Face Cleanser
Haven't had a chance to try these yet so as of now I am just sort of meh about them.

Coastal Scents | Shadow Brush
Surprisingly this brush is quite soft and more than I expected for being a Coastal Scents branded product.

There we have it my Ipsy Glam Bag for October, overall I'm happy about it and look forward to next month.

Orange Glad Sweet Box October 2013

This post is coming out quite late in the month because I haven't really had the motivation to write. I'm hoping to get a few posts up today to make up for. On a brighter note this is the Orange Glad Sweet Box for October 2013 and I actually enjoyed this box! However that didn't stop me from cancelling my subscription since the other two boxes I received were lackluster. I would consider resubscribing with this company if in future boxes the quality is similar to this one. I also liked this box best because each product was sealed well and fresh.

Seth Greenberg's Brownie Crunch | Mint Chocolate Chip
While I did like this it was extremely minty if your not a fan of mint flavor steer clear of this. The concept of the brownie crunch is that they all are nice and crunchy like the corners of the brownie pan. I would have liked them to be a little softer but they were still good.

Cheryl's Buttercream Frosting Pumpkin Cookie
This was my favorite item in the whole box, put anything that involves a sugar cookie and buttercream frosting in front of me and I will go nuts. Even though it was crumbly and broken it was still very good I'd even consider ordering more from the company directly.

Cabernet Brownie
A brownie made from wine flour is a unique concept I must say. This did have that sort of wine flavor to it but I didn't care for it. I think this would be better suited for someone who likes wine.

Guerrilla Beekeepers Honey
A nice size jar of honey, I can always use more honey.

Sugar Knife | Cookies and Cream Marshmallow
These were really good and I was a bit skeptical about them based on their appearance. They had great flavor though and they are made over in Oakland, CA so I would for sure consider buying another pack because they have a bunch of interesting flavors.

101 Tea
These were the special extras this month and I have not had a chance to use them yet but I'm a tea junkie so they were much welcomed.

Overall I do feel that I got my money's worth this month and I am happy with this box. As I said above however I have cancelled my subscription with Orange Glad but would consider resubscribing if future boxes are more like this. I didn't do the retail value's on this box because this post is late...

Dr. Scholl's® Active Series®

If you've been following me on Instagram you know I've been trying out these Dr. Scholl's Active Series insoles. I use insoles all the time in my flats but never really thought about putting new ones in my workout shoes. Turns out these really help they have a flexible plastic arch support and the rest of the foot bed is super cushy. I'm not a runner because I have bad knees but I do like to do squats and lunges and I find that these help me to be more stable when doing those exercises.

I also put a pair of these insoles in my everyday boots that I walk around in and they are great. A lot of fashion boots don't have a lot of support and putting these in them totally fixes that problem.

The Dr. School's Active Series Insole get my seal of approval and I'm sure I'll be buying more of them for my other pairs of shoes!

I don't even know where to begin to express my disappointment for this POPSUGAR Must Have box. I am so discouraged by the quality this box lacks that I'm not even going to put my referral link on this post. None of these items speak to me as "must have" products. To me these say we've run out of creative and unique items so were going to turn this into a box full of advertisements with repeat companies thrown in for good measure.

Allow me introduce everyone to the hot mess that is the POPSUGAR Must Have box for October.

The Can't Cook Book: Recipes for the Absolutely Terrified! by Jessica Seinfeld | MSRP $27.99
This is the only product in this box that I would consider a must have. It's an interesting book that guides cook's threw the basics of well, cooking. Is this book something I will get use out of? Sadly no because most everything it covers I already have a good handle on and the recipes while interesting I don't need a cook book to achieve. Growing up with two sisters who's extent of cooking is boiling water and asking if eggs expire leaves one to learn to cook quickly or starve!

NYX Cosmetics | Liquid Liner and Smokey Shadow Palette | MSRP $6.00 & $7.00
Okay now don't get me wrong NYX is a better than average drugstore brand however it's just that a drugstore brand. I pick this up at Ulta for 40% off or on BOGO throughout the majority of the year. When subscribing to a box like POPSUGAR I expect better than drugstore quality.

Gorjana & Griffin | Bali Bead Bracelet | MSRP $45.00
I'm starting to think POPSUGAR owns stock in Gorjana & Griffin or something because almost every month we are graced with a product from them. I do like this bracelet even though it's yet again GOLD... Hurry someone let POPSUGAR in on the secret that there is more to jewelry than just gold toned items!

Julep for POPSUGAR DUO | MSRP $18.00 & $14.00
Okay for those who don't' know Julep also has a subscription service for nail polish. I see this more as a product that is advertising to get you to sign up for their service than an actual "must have". I will say the color is nice I haven't had a chance to try it out.

Jane Tran | Bobby Pins | MSRP $12.00
These are at least something that will be useful, you can never have too many bobby pins.

The Wet Brush | MSRP $14.00
I wish you guys could have seen my face when I saw this brush. This brush has a lot of hype surrounding it because every beauty blogger and their grandmother are going on and on about how great it is. I'm not buying into the "this brush is the best thing since sliced bread" hype because this brush is cheap looking and feeling. To go along with the cheap look and feel it smells like chemicals. Do I really want to put this repulsive smelling brush on my wet hair? I think not!

The Crispery | Halloween Crisypycake | MSRP $3.49
I've had The Crispery before so I was happy to have this in the box at least it's something I will actually get to enjoy!

Oh look another advertisement for yet another subscription company...

I signed up for the must have service to find new and unique items that I wouldn't normally be able to find on my own. I did not sign up to be bombarded with advertisements to other subscription companies or to receive sub par products. I am beyond disappointed with this selection of items and with the upcoming price increase on this subscription I don't see myself sticking around. If I hadn't loved this subscription for over a year now I would drop them because of this box. My loyalty to them can only be extended so far, I will not stand for being sent regurgitated items from other subscription companies or have advertising forced upon me. I'm paying for this box keep your advertisements on your website! Lastly I fully understand that this is a business and they are in it to make a profit but in my opinion they are not delivering on what they have offered. /end rant

This box's MSRP totals up to $147.48 but just because the price is high doesn't mean that it doesn't suck. Also keep in mind many of these products can be found for far less than the manufacturers suggested retail price (MSRP).

It's just been brought to my attention that effective November 4th, 2013 POPSUGAR Must Have will be increasing the price of the Must Have box subscription. Please see the info quoted below for the price change!

We will be increasing the price of all subscriptions effective Nov. 4, 2013, as follows:
Monthly - $39.95. Autorenews at $39.95 per month.
3 Months - $109.85. Prepay and save $10. Autorenews at $39.95 per month thereafter.
6 Months - $214.70. Prepay and save $25. Autorenews at $39.95 per month thereafter.
12 Months - $404.40. Prepay and save $75. Autorenews at $39.95 per month thereafter.Prior to this price increase, we will be offering the option to upgrade and extend your subscription for an additional 3, 6, or 12 months at the current pricing, after which your subscription will autorenew at the new price of $39.95 + tax.
