Tourism Secretary Alberto "Bertie" Lim resigns according to reports from radio stations. Secretary Alberto Lim was not available for comments and interviews when he was called through his cell phone, according to ABS-CBN-DZMM broadcaster former Vice-President Noli de Castro who anchored the morning radio program.

Months ago, there were rumours that Bertie Lim was one of the three cabinet secretaries that were not in good terms, with the President. According to reports, the resignation was received by the President. He was to be replaced by Mon Jimenez an ex advertising man or by Riza Hontiveros of Akbayan Partylist and Liberal party candidate who was not lucky enough to win her senatorial bid last election (May 2010).

Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim came from the influential Makati Business Club and one of the proponents of the open skies policy that will break the monopoly of Lucio Tan in the airline industry.

Noynoy also appoints Conchita Morales as the new Ombudsman and praises some of his cabinet secretaries for the job well done... raising the foreign credit rating, less importation of rice, accurate weather forecast... Comments are needed. Be the judge of this Pnoy administration.

Heidi Mendoza spilled the beans on the generals of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). What a lady with guts and probably with balls! She surely wins the heart of the Filipino public with her courageous acts of exposing the graft and corruption in the military establishment. She even said that she will run naked in Quezon City.

Heidi Mendoza a former employee of the Commission on Audit (COA) researched and studied the well known graft and corruption of the armed forces.

General Carlos Garcia who made a plea bargain that was taken immediately by the Sandiganbayan headed by Merceditas Gutierrez, an appointee of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. The public was not pleased with the antics and stand of the Sandiganbayan chief, the protector of the public interest or the protector of the generals?

Heidi Mendoza told the House committee on justice chaired by Iloilo Rep. Niel Tupas that she had uncovered irregularities that included missing funds in millions of pesos and dollars despite the difficulty of sorting through the improperly maintained records of the AFP.

Among the missing funds, she said, was the P50 million that was taken from the P200-million United Nations fund representing reimbursement for peacekeeping operation expenses, and another $5 million representing UN reimbursement for equipment.

Where did the millions went? In the pockets and bank accounts of the generals and top officers with their pasalubong and pabaon (send-off) gifts. The top echelon of the militar is very generous to the higher ups while the foot soldiers, the ordinary rank and file members of the armed forces in the frontline, have no boots, limited ammunitions, less provisions, just like what the Magdalo group were saying during the Oakwood mutiny.

Pnoy as the commander in chief of the whole armed forces should have political will with this Heidi Mendoza expose.

Freddie Roach, Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions, politicians like Chavit Singson and others were present and grace the occasion.

Manny Pacquiao raffled 1 million pesos, a brand new Toyota Vios car and appliances. Lucky winners are very lucky indeed.

The Filipino people were hoping that graft and corruption that will be eliminated once and for all and new page of Philippine history will usher a new government for change in the lives of the people especially the masa, the working class people.

Taiwan Earthquake | Mayon volcano erupts

A major earthquake struck Taiwan on Saturday night, causing some injuries and damage in Taipei, the capital of Taiwan.

The 6.4-magnitude quake according to US Geological Survey, was centered off the eastern coast of Taiwan, about 15 miles (25 kilometers) from Hualien. It struck at a depth of about 30 miles (45 kilometers).

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not immediately issue any warning.
Buildings shook in the capital for several seconds after the quake struck.

Taiwan local TV reported at least four people in the capital had minor injuries, most resulting from falling debris. According to reports, Taipei’s subways and the island’s high speed railroad was suspended.

Local TV stations also reported that windows were blown out in a Hualien hotel and that there was minor property damage in Taipei.

Earthquakes frequently occur in Taiwan but most are minor and cause little or no damage.
However, a 7.6-magnitude earthquake in central Taiwan in 1999 killed more than 2,300 people.

And in 2006 a 6.7-magnitude tremor south of Kaohsiung severed undersea cables and disrupted telephone and Internet service to millions throughout Asia.

Taiwan is in the Pacific Circle of Fire and earthquakes and volcanic eruptions happens in the area. Mayon volcano in the Philippines is spewing lava and molten volcanic materials that affected thousands of people living in the vicinity of Mayon volcano in Albay.

Taiwan is an island north of the Philippines.

Noynoy tops survey according to Social Weather Station (SWS). Noynoy Aquino, the son of the late senator Benigno Aquino and late President Cory Aquino still tops the survey with 59%, ahead by some points to presidential aspirant Manny Villar of Nationalista Party with 45%, and former President Erap Estrada with 18%.
