Vintage 1x1 Inch Santas for Scrabble Pendants

I just love the little scrabble pendants that I've been seeing on Etsy. They are so cute and fun so for today's offering here is a page of one inch Victorian/Vintage Santas that can be used to make scrabble pendants with. I think they would be such a fun little Christmas gift for a friend, co-worker, teacher etc. They could also be used to make gift tags with too. If you come up with any cool ideas please feel free to share I would love to know what creative fun stuff you come up with yourself.

This is sized for an 8 1/2" x 11" page in 300 dpi, so have at it and Happy Holidays!

A Washout for the Month of June but hello July!

I have to first apologize for going MIA the entire month of June 2010. As some of my readers know I have two wonderful boys who are on the Autism Spectrum. Unfortunately the reality of living with Adventures in Autism is you never know what each new day will bring, or in my case "Month". Our oldest child had to be hospitalized for a full medication washout for two weeks, and then we also had to hire a professional advocate and a attorney to fight the school system for nonpublic school placement for our oldest as well. Needlestosay it's been quite crazy and I'm going to make a valiant effort to offer some more original art and graphics for my blog readers to craft with.
I know that I've only been blogging a short while but I really want to continue with this as I enjoy sharing my art with others, and it's a great creative outlet for me too. So here it is a new month a new dawn, a new day and I'm feeling fine! Hey I think that may be a song?! LOL

I designed this magnet from a photo I took of the creek down the road from us. It's part of the Chesapeake Bay Tributary System so it eventually runs into the bay. A bridge was built over it so the duel lane road that was being created wouldn't ruin the stream system. This photo was taken from off the new bridge. It was so pretty and I thought the Emerson Quote went nicely with it.

Wonderful Vintage Memorial Day Art!

It has been way too long since my last posting so I have put together a fun set of vintage Memorial Day images that are really colorful and beautiful. I've also included some information about the history of Memorial Day that I thought people may find interesting.

Memorial Day is set aside as a National US Holiday to honor the Men and Women in the military who made the ultimate sacrifice and gave their lives to protect our country. It used to be called Decoration Day which was a holiday created to honor the dead Union soldiers after the Civil War. The first use of the name Memorial Day was used in 1881. It is always observed on the last Monday in May. This year it is May 31st.

Many people observe this holiday by visiting cemeteries and memorials. A national moment of remembrance takes place at 3 p.m. local time. Another tradition is to fly the flag of the United States at half-staff from dawn until noon local time. Volunteers often place American flags on each grave site at National Cemeteries.

Memorial Day is also the unofficial kickoff of the Summer season. Many people like to have cookouts and get togethers, and the pools open! It's the beginning of all the Summer Fun.

So please enjoy the images I put together and please take time to Honor and remember those amazing men and women who gave all for our country.

Coloring Pages for MOM! and some Spring Inchies!

For my downloads of the day I've included 3 fun goodies. The first two are for Mom. I've noticed that there are mom's out there who enjoy coloring as much as their kids. I'm actually one of those moms, and I noticed that there are some fun Mom coloring pages available on the web. These designs are much more intricate and harder to color than the ones for the kiddies. So I have drawn two black and white coloring pages. One is large 8 1/2 x 11 inches and the other is a smaller design 5 x 7 inches. They both have been sized nicely on letter size paper and are ready for you to print out and get coloring! My other download is a page of watercolor and pen & ink Inchies. They are ready to print as well right off your printer on letter size paper. Inchies are especially great for making scrabble pendants to wear. You can also use them for scrap booking, making Art Trading Cards (ATC)s or Art Cards Editions & Originals (ACEO). If you don't know the difference between the two cards, keep coming back because I plan on writing a post about ATCs and ACEOs. So without further delay here are the downloads of the day!

It's Time for Planting & Making Cool Crafts with Vintage Seed Packets Clipart

It's that time of the year again! Spring has sprung and it's time for planting pretty flowers and starting vegetable gardens that will yield lots of homegrown tomatos, corn of the cob, green beans and the like. So I would like to celebrate planting and gardening with some really great vintage seed packets clipart! I've included a couple of great pages with some incredible colorful seed packets. They are super cool! and can be used for alot of great projects! If you create art trading cards you can use them in your mixed media designs. They would also be great for making domino pendant necklaces, or decoupodge project, but definately use a clear spray fixative over the print out so the ink colors don't run when you paint the modgepodge over it.

Today is Friday and because Friday's are always a good thing, I decided to celebrate with free Spring Clip Art for you to download print out and enjoy! Some ideas that you could use these for are: Scrapbooking your Spring Pictures, make some pretty spring notcecards, or any altered art mixed media project you are working on. Welcome to my little creative corner of the web I like to call: Artzee Chris' Cool Creations. For as long as I can remember I have loved to draw, paint, sew, craft, knit, crochet, color, cross stitch, embroider, scrapbook, you name it: if it had anything to do with Arts & Crafts I was on board and still am. For a long while I've been wanting to create a place where I could share cool ideas, crafts, art, supplies, and basically all things arty and crafty with others like me who share my passion. Artzee Chris' Cool Creations is this place and I can't wait to get this party started! With each new post I plan on showcasing a crafting project or offering up some really great free stuff that you will be able to download and print out for free on your own printer.

So without further hesitation, here is my first project that I've put together!

Gardening Glove Greeting Card & Matching Envelope

This sweet card is a wonderful way to wish someone Happy Mother's Day or send a Spring Greeting out to that special person.

Artzee Chris' Crafting Rating: Easy

Here is a list of Materials you will need:

One 12" x 12" light tan or offwhite cardstock (important: the cardstock need to be the same color on both sides)
One 12" x 12" scrapbook paper needs to be lightcolor and simple design. This is the paper you will be making your custom envelope from so the design and color need to be light and subtle enough for you to write an address that is ledgible for the post office
One piece of scrapbook paper that is about 4" x 4" and is color coordinated to your envelope paper
One packet of flower seeds your choice. It's nice to try to coordinate the seed packet colors to the scrapbook paper colors
Scissors
Thin line black marker
Pencil
Eraser
Card Templates printed and cut out for use

Download the Glove and Envelope Templates and print and cut them out:

Trace the first half of the envelope then
flip the template over and match it to the part already traced and
trace the other half of the envelope as shown beloew

Cut the envelope out as pictured below

Fold flaps of envelope in and use glue stick to adhere bottom and side of envelope, Leave top flap open so you can put card in envelope when done

Fold tan cardstock in half and trace glove template with pinky finger lined up on the fold as pictured below:

Cut glove out leaving the fold on the pinky finger so card looks as shown when finished:

Cut thumb off of right side of card so it looks like picture shown below:

Next trace glove cuff as shown below and cut it out

Glue cuff to Glove as shown below:

Draw dashes with thin tip maker to represent stitches as shown below:

Fold thumb over and glue seed packet in glove as shown draw stitches:

Here is your finished product! All you have to now is write your note and send it off to that special person!

So here is my first Cool Creation for you to make and enjoy!
