The German car maker Audi after recently launching the low priced sedan Audi A4 in the Indian market has now launched the sporty model of this sedan named Audi S4. Audi India this time tried something new to see, whether the car would be able to attract the Indian buyers, Audi started the “Vote for S4 and bring it to India” campaign, which was an online campaign on social media site, Twitter. The feedback of this campaign was overwhelming, forcing Audi to bring the sporty sedan S4 in the Indian market.

When it comes to performance, this car is equipped with a 3.0 liter 6 cylinder TFSI engine which is capable of generating a maximum torque of 440Nm and a maximum power of 337.6 PS. It also has a 7 speed S tronic gearbox which can accelerate the car to a speed of 100 kmph in a time interval of just 5 seconds. The fuel economy of the car 10.34 km/l as declared by the ARAI.Talking about the looks, the body height of the car is lowered by 20mm with the help of suspension package for the sporty look; this look is further enhanced by the 18-inch wheels with low profile rubber.

As the car got the much needed response, so the company has launched its sporty sedan very softly in the market, With S4 coming in the Indian market there are also chances that Audi might plan to bring its other S series models to India.

Power of Audi S4The 3.0 L V6 TFSI engine with S-tronic transmission is very much fuel economic. The company earlier claimed the mileage to be 12.34 kmpl but now the as per claimed by ARAI the car provides a mileage of 12.34 kmpl. The car has direct fuel injection system which reduces the heat and pressure in the combustion chamber avoiding any wastage of fuel. Not only the fuel injection system but also the Quattro engine helps a lot as it allows only a limited amount of fuel and air to enter in to the combustion chamber. Due to the recent petrol hikes in the country the demand for the petrol cars has decreased to a lot extent, but with the launch of the sports model of the A4 sedan with such a fuel economy there are chances that this car will get a good response from the market and the car will rise up to the expectation of the company.

Audi S4 features a powerful 3.0 Litre V6 supercharged engine capable of taking the car from 0-100 kmph in just 5 seconds with a top speed of 250 kmph. The engine yields a power of 333bhp at 5500-6500 rpm and a torque figure of 440Nm at 2900-5300 rpm. The 7 speed S-tronic engine delivers uninterrupted power to provide more acceleration. The Quattro engine with Sports differential component distributes variable amounts of drive force to each rear wheel, ensuring excellent acceleration performance in corners and stabilising the vehicles response to load change. This new V6 TFSI engine is capable of accelerating the car to a speed of 100 km/h in just 5 seconds and is governed with a top speed of 250 km/h. Audi S4 Exteriors

Audi has made a firm grip over the luxury car segment in the Indian market. The company has recently launched its sedan Audi A4 and now just came up with the sporty sedan Audi S4, by launching it softly in the market. The car has the typical sporty look as expected from the company. This is a fast and a powerful sports car for the everyday practicality. The hexagonal single framed grilled and the newly designed bumpers are the most obvious changes, also the wedge shaped xenon headlights clasped in LED daytime running. The other features include its radiator grille insert, which is platinum grey and it features finely sculpted, horizontal crossbars and an S4 badge. The interiors of the Audi S4 has many sporty options along with the convenience and comfort options. It has a leather multifunction sport steering wheel and the flat bottoms rim available in the sporty option. The interior of the car has Matt brushed aluminum and the black look. The car comes with adjustable steering wheel and panel illumination, day counter and the board computer as the special interior features.

Heated seats, automatically dimming interior front, audio controls on steering wheel and the navigation system are some optional features available in the car. The Sports model S4 is powered by V6 3.0 litre TFSI engine. The TFSI engine allows only a precise amount of air and fuel to inject into the combustion chamber, which results in reduced heat loss and increased output, with around 15% reduction in fuel combustion significantly lower exhaust emission. The car also has the Automatic Start Stop function for greater fuel and CO2 efficiency. This petrol engine can generate a maximum power of 333bhp at 5500-6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 440Nm at 2900-5300 rpm. The engine can take the car from 0 to 100 kmph in just 5 seconds and has top speed of 250 kmph. The car has 4 valves per cylinder with DOHC valve configuration. The Bore x Stroke of the car is 84,5 x 89,0 mm with a compression ratio of 10.3:1. The engine also has the supercharger which is basically an air compressor used for forced induction of an internal combustion engine, it has greater mass flow rate which provides more oxygen to support combustion which allows more fuel to be burned and more work to be done per cycle, increasing the power output of the engine.

Wheels

The car has in it 18” x 8.5J ‘5-double-spoke S’ design alloy wheels with 245/40 R18 tyres size. The car also has a space-saver spare wheel. These 18 inch wheels provide a wonderful gripping on the road ensuring safer drive.

Braking & Handling

The car is equipped with an ‘S’ model enhanced braking system with the ventilated disc brakes in the front and the normal disc brakes in the rear. It also comes with the ABS, EBD and brake assistant to improve the brake mechanism of the car. The ABS allows the wheel to interact tractively with the road, preventing the wheels from locking up and avoid skidding. The EBD technology helps in varying the amount of force applied to each of the vehicle’s brake, to maximize the stopping power while maintaining vehicular control. So ABS coupled with EBD provides a better handling of the car. The 7 speed S-stronic dual clutch transmission also adds to the beauty as it works as almost two separate systems, one engaging the odd numbers of gears and the other one engaging the even numbers of gears. So like when we will start accelerating in the second gear then the car will be already prepared for the third one, and once we make the switch the car will be already prepared for the fourth one. So with two clutches working in combination we can change gears almost instantly experiencing smooth, uninterrupted power. Audi S4 has in it the S sport suspension lowered by 20mm, the front and the rear of the car has Multilink screw springs to avoid any noises, bumps and vibrations on the road and provide a comfortable ride. The car also has adaptive cruise control with breaking guard, it is basically an automatic speed and distance control system, it uses the radar sensors to measure and maintain the required distance to vehicle ahead by braking and accelerating. The breaking guard triggers a visual and acoustic alarm when it detects the risk of rear end collision with the vehicle in the front.

Handling & Safety

This sports sedan incorporates in it some standard and advanced features. For the handling the car has in it the 7 speed S-tronic dual clutch transmission system which readily falls in to hands. The dual clutch transmission allows a transfer of uninterrupted power providing you with a smooth driving. The basic safety features include the central locking, power door locks, child safety lock, anti-theft alarm, front and rear seat belts with seat belt warning and Xenon headlamps. The airbag system includes the driver, front passenger, front side and head airbag with passenger airbag deactivation switch. The brake recommendation system which analyses the driver behaviour based on steering wheel, pedals and gear level movements. It also has the ESP system with the limited slip off differential, ISOFIX child seat mounting, light and rain sensor, rear parking sensor which facilitate parking by acoustically indicating the distance to obstacles, Thatcham category 1 alarm and immobiliser. Let's cut to the chase here: Yes, it's a real car, and yes, it's for sale. Lamborghini makes that point clear at the end of its press release, and we imagine the furor among the 1% to get that first spot in the queue will be enough to rival the 99% on iPad 3 launch day.

The Aventador J adheres to a pretty simple recipe, namely dispense with everything unnecessary to going fast, like the climate control and nav systems. Lambo has also given the roof and windshield of the Aventador LP700-4 coupe the Sawzall treatment, fitting small wind deflectors instead. The company says it's going for a two-seat sport-bike effect, so it's done some other interesting things to lower the curb weight of the J.

Notable here is the use of a new carbon fiber fabric called "Carbonskin" that Lamborghini claims is soft enough to be used on the seats and interior trim. Carbon fiber is used in more traditional ways throughout the rest of the car – in the bumpers, designed to increase downforce, the front air scoop, complete with winglets, and in the huge rear diffuser.

Powered by the same 700-hp 6.5-liter 12-cylinder as the standard Aventador, the all-wheel-drive J is capable of speeds over 300 kph (186 mph), meaning the driver and passenger had better have their helmets at the ready.

The absence of a roof, of the large windshield, of the air conditioning system and of the navigation system obviously takes it to an even lower weight. With a dry weight of 1575 kilograms, the series production Aventador LP 700-4 is already extremely light for its performance class thanks to its carbon fiber construction.

Carbonskin, a brand new carbon fiber material

The unique expertise of Automobili Lamborghini in the field of carbon fiber reinforced polymers is evident not only in the hi-tech monocoque, but also in the research into further innovative solutions. Unlike traditional seats, in the Aventador J seats are made of Forged COMPOSITE®, with inserts of flexible carbon fiber fabrics: a result of an innovative Lamborghini patent.

The specialists at Lamborghini have developed an even more amazing version of carbon fiber material for the Aventador J. In its first automotive application, this carbon fiber fabric called "Carbonskin" is made of woven carbon fibers soaked with a very special epoxy resin that stabilizes the fiber structure and keeps the material soft. Like a hi-tech fabric, the carbon fiber
mats fit perfectly to every shape. In the Aventador J, the complete cockpit and parts of the seats are clad in this material and shimmer in matt carbon fiber black. It's conceivable that in future there will be many potential applications for this freshly patented and extremely fine-looking material, even very high-end clothing.

The Design: uncompromisingly Lamborghini

An extreme Aventador obviously needs an equally single-minded design, which goes without saying at the Centro Stile Lamborghini. Every single model from Sant'Agata Bolognese bears the unique design of the brand. Clear, precise surfaces, as well as sharp, often broken lines are among the unmistakable styling tools. They consistently emphasize the power and enormous presence of these Italian super sports cars. Not one line is ever accidental – the defining principle is always 'form follows function'.

This function is very clearly defined for the Aventador J – explosive dynamics, extreme driving fun, a unique experience. Every kilometer with the Aventador J is extreme fun: something plainly evident from the very first glance.

Rear view mirror like a periscope

Virtually every part of the outer chassis was redesigned for the Aventador J, yet it shows the spirit of Lamborghini in its most concentrated form. The car's dimensions are extreme: the overall length is 4890 mm, the overall width (excluding mirrors) is 2030 mm while the height is 1110 mm.

The highest points are marked by the rear view mirror, which is perched on an arm like a periscope, and by the two safety bars behind the seats. In place of the classic front windshield there are two small wind deflectors. The occupants of the Aventador J are confronted by the element of the wind in much the same way as a superbike rider – therefore the right
clothing is prerequisite for every trip.

Front scoop with winglets

The front of the Aventador J is somewhat narrower than that of the Aventador. The front end is dominated by a highly distinctive carbon fiber air scoop, with central fixing braces and upward tilting winglets on the outer edges. Viewed from the side, the front end of the Aventador J looks
like a Formula 1 racing car.

Red with chrome effect, wheels with CFRP fan

The black of the carbon fiber parts is visibly evident throughout the car – the significantly wider sill elements and the mighty rear diffuser form a perfect contrast to the rich red body paintwork. The special red color was developed specifically for this Aventador - a highly intensive red with a slight chrome effect.

The wheels, of course, were also developed specifically for this car, with 20-inch rims at the front and 21-inch at the rear. The five-spoke aluminum wheels have a central lock system and an additional carbon fiber insert that functions like a small fan for optimum brake ventilation.

Naturally, the doors on the Aventador J also open upward. They are considerably thinner than on the Aventador and are fitted with a tiny, fixed side window. The muscular flanks around the rear wheels are hallmark Lamborghini and make it immediately apparent where this particular bull keeps his power.

Rear end purely for aerodynamics and ventilation

Because of its ample dimensions, the eye is drawn inexorably to the rear end. It consists in principle of just three elements – the carbon-fiber rear diffuser, the four huge tail pipes and the rear lights with their typical 5 Lamborghini light signature in the form of a Y. The remaining surface area is for heat dissipation and is enclosed only by a black metal mesh. The rear
end is crowned by an enormous fixed spoiler mounted on the bodyshell by two arms. 'Form follows function' to the nth degree. The spoiler is supported by two pillars connected by the diffuser: clearly inspired by racing.

Special bumpers

In comparison with the Aventador LP 700-4, the exclusive Aventador J has special front and rear bumpers. Both bumpers have been supplemented with carbon fiber fins that act as flow deviators. Their purpose is to achieve a significant increase in the vehicle's downforce at both the front and the rear.

The outside comes inside

The Aventador J's exterior and interior forms flow seamlessly into each other. This super sports car turns its inside outward and is as open as it can possibly be. Conversely, the exterior 'flows' through the interior – a red stripe runs from the front hood, between the two wind deflectors, over the dashboard, down the console to the center tunnel and back up between the seat backs, before leaving the interior and heading for the engine cover panel.

Interior is minimalist and single-minded

This band of color connects the front and the rear of the car, creates a visual separation between the driver and passenger space and is interrupted only by a small control panel housing the starter button and the switches for lights and transmission. The Aventador J is equipped neither with a navigation nor car audio system, nor does it have the associated
screen or air conditioning controls – these would simply detract from its one and only raison d'être as an extreme driving experience. What remains, of course, are two programmable TFT displays behind the steering wheel.

The engine cover also brings the inside to the outside. To be more precise,
it is not so much a cover but more a framework. This part has a new geometry (X shape) and is made of carbon fiber. Two large openings lay bare both cylinder banks of the mighty V12 power unit with its 6.5 liters of displacement – a truly stunning sight for every
automobile aficionado.

A unique work of art licensed for the road

However, at the end of the Geneva Motor Show, this sight will be the preserve of just one – the future owner of the Lamborghini Aventador J. There is only one of them, no prototypes and no others for the Lamborghini Museum. The buyer can look forward to a truly unique, street-legal work of art. He will possess the most extreme expression of Lamborghini DNA in existence and a real masterpiece of high technology. But the many other fans of the super sports cars from Sant'Agata Bolognese can rest assured - the Aventador success story has only just begun.

Will Honda Displace Bajaj For The Number 2 Spot?

How many of you paid heed to February 2012 figures? If you did not, there is a possible chance of turnaround in the rankings on how the 2-wheeler manufacturers stack up in terms of sales in India.

The first turn around was that Honda displaced TVS for the number 3 spot. Actually, it’s not the first time Honda has reigned supreme over TVS, it (Honda) has achieved more numbers previously as well but now considering the gap between these two, it could be considered that HMSI is the consistent Number 3 in India.

And the second turn around has not happened yet, but if Bajaj doesn’t react quickly enough, we might have Honda displacing Bajaj and joining its erstwhile partners Hero MotoCorp for the top two slots in our industry.

If we talk about figures then it’s not a pretty sight if Bajaj is to be looked at. While Bajaj’s local sales stood almost flat at 2.04 Lakh units for the month of February 2012, Honda was twisting its tail at a meager distance of 7000 units, as they jumped to a whopping 1.97 Lakh units for the last month. The bigger point worth consideration is that these figures are despite the fact that Honda is yet to launch their proper entry level commuter bike – Yuga 110.

Honda’s Game Plan

Ramping up of manufacturing capacity. They have also started another new facility.
Bringing in a mass market seller bike like Yuga to improvise sales further
Adding 100 dealers, 100 sub dealers and an equivalent amount of authorized service centers every year.

However, a bigger picture clears the air about this change happening anytime soon. For the complete financial year from April 2011 to February 2012, Bajaj Auto is comfortably ahead of Honda by around 5.73 Lakh units.

Bajaj’s Response

Bajaj has been cool, or at least that is what is being displayed upfront. With as much as 35% of products exported, the company feels that they should be looked at as a global player. “We are a global company and believe our performance must be viewed in that context. In that sense we are, we believe, the world’s most profitable motorcycle maker, and third largest by volume.” company says.

On second thoughts, Bajaj also has a few aces up there sleeve. The much awaited Pulsar 200NS has already received big time applause and is expected to be a big time success. The company also has plans to launch a commuter motorcycle to garner some more units.

Also, it’s not that this is the first time we have seen close contests like this. A few years back Bajaj went precariously close to (then) Hero Honda but till now has not been able to break any ground. Will Honda be able to dislodge Bajaj from its kingdom?

Hello bikers, firstly I really thankful & congratulation to bikeadvice.in for its wonderful effort in bringing in so much reviews of bike at one place, which helps buyers to make their buying decision. This article is not really a review of the bike but it also my experience with the Apache RTR.

Hero Honda ZMR and Karizma R

A very good high quality bike, Value for every single penny you pay but puts hole in your wallet if you drive around in the city.

Hero Honda CBZ and Hunk

A Sporty Bike that had all important stuff it except it didin’t have a puch to it’s comfort positioning.

Yamaha FZ -16

This is good for the people who rides but not for the back sitters who are not being comfortable while going for long tours.

Bajaj Pulsar 150cc

Bajaj pulsur is a common bike and just because of it’s design people purchase it but engine gets rough after tough usage..

TVS Apache is Decent Choice, which gives great combination of Sporty look and Classy look.
TVS company knows that, What’s the customer expectations and it’s very well satisfied it by apache bike.

Initially there were some issues for the selection of bike. My family don’t like sports bike, because it is not comfortable for back sitters and also the mileage is low and bikes prizes are too costly. But I needed sporty and stylish bike. And my budget was around 70k. So it’s difficult to choose the bike, which satisfy my family and also my expectations.

So I did all the calculation and analysis then I decide Apache RTR 160 Hyper-edge. I am fall in love with this bike. I took the default black color with orange racing stripses running on it. It’s Really cool design. Look like stylish.

Handling

Handling is probably one of the strongest aspects of Apache RTR 160 Hyper Edge. Among the other bikes in the market the RTR stands out in the handling department. The bike gushes in any gap you want flawlessly. This bike is born for cornering. Its aerodynamic tank scoops and chassis provide better control and makes you feel comfortable.

Engine and Performance

15.2 bhp of power was more than enough for our present road conditions. TVS claims a top speed of 120km/h. A weight of bike is 139 kgs, the bike is a pleasure to ride around and in the city.

Braking

The disc brakes on the Apache RTR 160 (roto petal discs) are the best in its class giving more superior stopping power and shorter stopping distance than any other bike. But some rear issue about tyre, The tyres are a bit slippery not only on wet roads but also on slightly muddy surface too.

Instrumentation and Electricals

The Digital speedometer on the Apache is one of the best ones speedometer available in the Indian market. A lot of functionality are inbuilt in it.

Vibrations and Riding Position

It has vibrations that occur at 56-68 kmph before and after that the engine is as smooth as butter, but The vibrations on the bike are negligible for someone who needs power in a bike and ride at high speed.

There are complaints about the riding position of TVS Apache RTR like backache, wrist pain etc but that happens only in that start but after you get adjusted to proper position which gives you comfort. Then, it feels like you are on a rocket.

Maintenance and Servicing

Now this was the only reason why I was skeptical before buying a Apache. A lot have been said about the pathetic service you get for the Apache. But then, I was pleasantly surprised to see the TVS service station which available in almost each city.

I believe it is very important to service your bike at regular intervals. Only then the bike will be able to respond to your needs. There is no point in blame a bike model if you are not servicing it properly.

Looks and Styling

This TVS Apache RTR 160 Hyper-Edge has a Decent Look. Which mean good combination of sporty looks as well as classy look. Every part of the bike excels in design from the LED tail lamps to the tank.

Mileage

The bike is sure to offer a mileage of 48 to 53 kmpl in the city, with good run and right gear shifts. On the highways it will offer 55 -60 kmpl. But who cares about mileage when you can reach 0-60 under 4.2 secs.

Cons

Finally I can say that, I fall in Love with this Bike , because it’s decent look, great pick-up and give comfort to rider. Just take good care of it, and it gives it all back to you. Enjoy every bit of it. Also an excellent bike for highway Racing. Apache RTR 160 Hyper-Edge. Its really “Now Or Never”.

Implementations of VTEC in Honda models

Implementations of VTEC in Honda models

DOHC VTEC is the implementation producing the highest-powered engines and used in the highest performing models in the Honda line-up. The smallest DOHC VTEC engine is the legendary B16A. A 1595cc 160-170ps engine that first appeared in the 1989 Honda Integra XSi and RSi, it now powers the famous Civic SiR models. The B16B is a special hand-tuned super high output derivative of the B16A giving 185ps and used in the Civic Type-R.
The B18C is a 180ps 1797cc engine that appears in the high performance Integra line-up. The B18CSpec96 is a special hand-tuned super high output version of the B18C giving 200ps and used in the legendary Integra Type-R.
DOHC VTEC implementations now appear in most of Honda's great line-up. The Accord SiR used to have a detuned 190s H22A 2.2l DOHC VTEC which was also used on the same period Prelude Si-VTEC in which it gave 200ps. The current Accord line now has a 2.0l DOHC VTEC engine that gives 180ps and 200ps in the Accord SiR and SiR-T models respectively while the current Prelude SiR still uses the H22A 2.2l DOHC VTEC engine giving 200ps. A special hand-tuned version of H22A is used in the Prelude Type-S and gives 220ps.
The highest level of DOHC VTEC implementation is of course in the NSX. Implemented V6 DOHC VTEC, originally in 3.0l and now in a larger 3.2l form, it tops the 280ps "legal" limit imposed by the Japanese government for stock street cars.
SOHC VTEC appears in more guises in the Honda line-up. The smallest SOHC VTEC engine is the D15B, used on Civic and Civic Ferio VTi/Vi models in Japan. The D16A 1590cc SOHC VTEC (power) engine giving 130ps is also used on the Civic Coupe and the Civic Ferio EXi (a 4WD model). SOHC VTEC also appears on the Accord models but not the Integra or Prelude line-up. In fact in markets which Honda considers not sufficiently advanced to warrant the DOHC VTEC engines (Malaysia being one of them), Honda markets SOHC VTEC as the top engine for their line-up.

Conclusion

In this permanent feature, we have examined the basic principle on which VTEC works as well as the various implementations of VTEC. In a follow-up feature, we will look at alternative variable valve timing mechanisms which are implemented by other manufacturers.

DOHC VTEC

The pinacle of VTEC implementation is the DOHC VTEC engine. The first engine to benefit from VTEC is the legendary B16A, a 1595cc inline-4 16Valve DOHC engine with VTEC producing 160ps and first appearing in 1989 in the JDM Honda Integra XSi and RSi.

Examine the diagram of a typical Honda DOHC PGM-Fi non-VTEC engine on the left, in this case the 1590cc ZC DOHC engine. Note that each pair of cam-lobe and their corresponding rocker arms though adjacent, are spaced apart from each other.

In the DOHC VTEC implementation, Honda put an extra cam/rocker in between each pair of intake and exhaust lobes/rockers. The three cam/rocker assemblies are now next to each other. The new middle lobe is the "wild" race-tuned cam-lobe. Using VTEC to link up all three rocker arms together, Honda is able to use either the mild or the wild cam-lobes at will.

Note : Though the ZC and B16A are well-suited to illustrate the difference between plain-DOHC and DOHC-VTEC, the B16A engine is not derived from ZC. In fact, ZC and B16A have different bore and stroke. The same applies for the B18A and B18C engines used in the JDM Integra series.
DOHC VTEC implementations can produce extremely high specific outputs. The B16A for standard street use first produced 160ps and now 170ps. In the super-tuned B16B implementation used for the new JDM EK-series Honda Civic Type-R, 185ps was produced from the same 1595cc.
DOHC VTEC can also easily offer competitive power outputs to turbocharged engines for normal street use. For eg, the E-DC2 Integra Si-VTEC produces 180ps from the 1797cc DOHC VTEC B18C engine. This compares favourably to the 1.8l version of the RPS-13 Nissan 180SX which uses a 1.8l DOHC Turbo-Intercooled engine which produced 175ps.

SOHC VTEC

An alternative implementation of VTEC for high (versus very high) specific output is used in Honda's SOHC engines. SOHC VTEC engines have often been mistakenly taken as a 'poor' second-rate derivative of DOHC VTEC but this is not the true case. An SOHC engine head has advantages of a DOHC head mostly in terms of size (it is narrower) and weight. For more sedate requirements, an SOHC engine is preferable to the DOHC engine. SOHC VTEC is a power implementation of VTEC for SOHC engines with the express intention of extracting high specific output.

Examine the diagram of a standard SOHC cam assembly on the right. Note that the pair of intake rocker arms are separated but adjacent to each other.
In the SOHC VTEC implementation (diagram on the right), Honda put a wild-cam lobe for the intake valves in the space between the two rocker arms. Note that the two exhaust rocker arms are separated by the two intake rocker arms and the "tunnel" for the sparkplug cable connector. This is the reason why Honda implemented VTEC on the intake valves only.

SOHC VTEC engines are high specific output forms of the standard SOHC engines. The D15B engine used in the Civic/Civic Ferio VTi models (EG-series 1991 to 1995) gives 130ps from a 1493cc capacity. Bear in mind this kind of power levels are normally associated with 1.6l DOHC or even milder-tuned 1.8l DOHC fuel-injected engines !

VTEC-E

A novel implementation of VTEC in SOHC engines is the VTEC-E implementation (E for Economy). VTEC-E uses the principle of swirling to promote more efficient air-and-fuel mixing in the engine chambers. VTEC-E works by deactivating one intake valve. Examine the diagram below.

In the SOHC VTEC-E implementation, only one intake cam-lobe is implemented on the camshaft. Actually it is really a flat "ring". In operation this means the relevant rocker arm will not be activated causing the engine to effectively work in 12-valve mode. This promotes a swirl action during the intake cycle. VTEC is used to activate the inactive valve, making the engine work in 16-valve mode in more demanding and higher rpm conditions. Honda was able to implement air-fuel mixture ratios of more than 20:1 in VTEC-E during the 12-valve operating mode. The SOHC VTEC-E engined EG-series Civic ETi is able to return fuel consumptions of as good as 20km/litre or better!!

SOHC VTEC implemented for power is often mistaken as SOHC VTEC-E which is implemented for economy. It is worthwhile to note that the 1.5l SOHC VTEC-E used in the JDM Honda Civic ETi produces 92ps. This is in fact less than that produced by the standard 1.5l SOHC engine's 100ps which uses dual Keihin side-draft carburettors. SOHC VTEC in the D15B produces 130ps. This is 30% more than the standard SOHC implementation !

3-stage VTEC

Examine the SOHC VTEC and SOHC VTEC-E implementations. The clever Honda engineers saw that it is a logical step to merge the two implementations into one. This is in essence the 3-stage VTEC implementation. 3-stage VTEC is implemented on the D15B 1.5l SOHC engine in which the VTEC-E mechanism is combined with the power VTEC mechanism.
Many of us probably has laughed at the poor ignorant layman who said "I want power AND economy from my Honda". We know of course that power and economy are mutually exclusive implementations. Honda decided not to abide by this rule. Now, with 3-stage VTEC, we get BOTH power and economy !.
The diagram below illustrates the 3-stage VTEC implementation. The intake rocker arms have two VTEC pin actuation mechanisms. The VTEC-E actuation assembly is located above the camshaft while the VTEC (power) actuation assembly is the standard wild-cam lobe and rocker assembly.

Below 2500rpm and with gentle accelerator pressure, neither pin gets actuated. The engine operates in 12V mode with very good fuel combustion efficiency. When the right foot gets more urgent and/or above 2500rpm, the upper pin gets actuated. This is the VTEC-E mechanism at work and the engine effectively enters into the '2nd stage'. Now D15B 3-stage works in 16V mode (both intake valves works from the same mild cam-lobe).
Stage 2 operates from around 2500rpm to 6000rpm. When the rpm exceeds 6000rpm, the VTEC mechanism activates the wild cam-lobe pushing the engine into the '3rd stage', the power stage. Now the engine gives us the full benefit of its 130ps potential !
The 3-stage VTEC D15B engine is used on the current EK-series JDM Civic/Civic Ferio VTi/Vi together with Honda's new Multimatic CVT transmission. Stage-1 12V or "lean-burn" operation mode is indicated to the driver by an LED on the dashboard. The 2500rpm cutover from lean-burn to normal 16V operation in fact varies according to load and driver requirements. With gentle driving, lean-burn can operate up to 3000rpm or higher. Stage-3 may not always be activated. The Multimatic transmission has a selector for Economy, Drive, and Sports mode. In Economy mode for eg, the ECU operates with a max rpm of around 4800rpm even at Wide-Open-Throttle positions.
The essence of 3-stage VTEC is power AND economy implemented on a 1.5l SOHC PGM-Fi engine. Many people mistakes 3-stage VTEC as a "superior" evolution of the power oriented DOHC VTEC implementation, describing DOHC VTEC as "the older 2-stage VTEC" and implying an inferior relationship. This is totally wrong because DOHC VTEC is tuned purely for high specific output and sports/racing requirements. 3-stage VTEC is in truth an evolution of SOHC VTEC and VTEC-E, merging the two implementations into one.

VTEC is one of Honda's greatest invention. Though an undisputed expert in turbocharging as evidenced by years of Formula-1 domination while Honda was active in the sport, Honda's engineers feels that turbocharging has disadvantages, primarily bad fuel economy, that made it not totally suitable for street use. At the same time, the advantages of working with smaller engines meant that smaller capacity engines with as high power output as possible (ie very high specific-output engines) are desirable for street engines.
Thus Honda invented VTEC which allows it to extract turbo level specific output from its engines without having to suffer from the disadvantages of turbocharging (though VTEC introduces disadvantages of its own).
The Temple of VTEC is specifically created by Jeff Palmer as a dedication to this great technology and the Temple of VTEC Asia is dedicated to the home of VTEC -and of Honda, Japan and the region of Asia.
In this permanent feature, we will examine the basic mechanism that make up the VTEC technology as well as the various implementations of VTEC.

The Basic VTEC Mechanism

The basic mechanism used by the VTEC technology is a simple hydraulically actuated pin. This pin is hydraulically pushed horizontally to link up adjacent rocker arms. A spring mechanism is used to return the pin back to its original position.

The VTEC mechanism is covered in great detail elsewhere so it is redundant to go through the entire mechanism here. Instead we will look at the basic operating principles which can be used in later sectionse to explain the various implementations VTEC by Honda.
To start on the basic principle, examine the simple diagram below. It comprises a camshaft with two cam-lobes side-by-side. These lobes drives two side-by-side valve rocker arms.

The two cam/rocker pairs operates independently of each other. One of the two cam-lobes are intentionally drawn to be different. The one on the left has a "wilder" profile, it will open its valve earlier, open it more, and close it later, compared to the one on the right. Under normal operation, each pair of cam-lobe/rocker-arm assembly will work independently of each other.

VTEC uses the pin actuation mechanism to link the mild-cam rocker arm to the wild-cam rocker arm. This effectively makes the two rocker arms operate as one. This "composite" rocker arm(s) now clearly follows the wild-cam profile of the left rocker arm. This in essence is the basic working principle of all of Honda's VTEC engines.

Currently, Honda have implemented VTEC in four different configurations. For the rest of this feature, we will examine these four different implementations of VTEC.

However, if Engadget's report is to be believed, this might turn into reality soon. According to the report from Engdaget, Samsung is mulling over an "open" camera operating system.

Samsung R&D team has been researching on how to bring Android to its digital cameras. But the interesting point here is that what exactly would an OS like Android mean for digital camera users? Will the in-camera ecosystem be opened to third-party developers? This in turn could make it possible to use Twitter and Facebook apps that let you not only upload your photos directly with a familiar interface, but also see photos shared by your friends.

Also, a capacitive touchscreen would let you type in comments directly as well. Moreoever, a USB port could accommodate a spate of accessories including a microphone or a modem, which could be used with various models, including those from other manufacturers.

There are many predictions that could be made, but it will be interesting to hear that when Samsung is going to come up with its Android-powered digital cameras. The research is afoot and this is something under consideration. The are merely specualtions at this point of time and there is no such product announcement from Samsung yet.

Though Samsung is planning to foray into this space, but it would not be the first company to come up with an Android-based digital camera. Of late, Polaroid announced its SC1630 camera at CES. The company expects the product to hit the market later this year.

So, after smartphone, tablets and TVs, now is the time for digital cameras to run Google's Android operating system.

Sony made a debut in the flourishing tablet market with two distinctly designed devices – Tablet S and the Tablet P. The Tablet S sports a stylish and sophisticated look, while the Tablet P turns heads over its dual screen, clutch form factor. We’ve seen manufacturers testing waters in this device category and we weren’t surprised when Sony declared its new tablets. Interestingly, Sony’s claim to fame in portable devices has been its PSP, while the PlayStation phone didn’t take too much time to lose the fizz after its launch. We managed to lay our hands on the latter, the Sony Tablet S, which was released in India, earlier this month. It takes cues from gaming segment with some exclusive content and a design that sets it apart from other tablets. Let’s unfold its attributes one by one to find out if it can keep up with the performance exhibited by some of the key players.

Design and Build
Sony devices are known for spewing stylish looks, for instance the VAIO range. The Sony tablet S isn’t an exception and sports a sophisticated look in black and silver. Crafted in a wedge shape, it offers an angle for better typing, the curvy upper edge with a grid pattern (plastic material covering more than half of the backside) stretches on to the rear side, making it look like a folded paper sheet. About 1.5cm at its thickest part, the rear grid-like design ensures a firm grip, even while holding it in one hand. Besides the front and plastic that extends from the upper edge, the rest of the device along with its slanting side edges is maintained in silver. A reset, volume and main power buttons run along the left edge, while you’ll find a compartment for SD card and micro USB port on the right edge. The backside shows a 5MP camera and it also has a 0.3MP front facing camera. The power port is on the lower edge.

The front is glossy with a 9.4-inch TFT capacitive touchscreen display featuring 800 x 1280 pixels resolution. At 625 grams, it is heavier than the iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy 750. The tablet has a thick side, which is made of a silver plastic panel - it feels a little cheap. The location of the volume rocker compelled us to accidentally hit the main switch of the device, as it’s hidden within the right edge and too close to the main switch. The in-box contents, include a main power cable, quick manual and a lanyard.

Features
Interface
The Tablet S runs on Android Honeycomb 3.2, which we’ve seen earlier on the Samsung 750 (layered with the Samsung Touch UI) and the Motorola Xoom. This version of the Android OS has been specifically crafted to suit the need of tablet users. Sony has enhanced the UI with several tweaks exclusive to its tablet like the favorites icon has been added on the top left next to the Apps icon. Moreover, a row of quick launch buttons are placed on the right upper corner - Browser, e-mail, remote control and news feeds. On hitting the icons, all apps appear in a neat, large matrix, which can be instantly added to the home screen. Likewise, just long press on the main screen and you notice all screens appear in a low on the upper side. You can simply drag and drop widgets the home screen.

The screen offers fairly good touch response, but it can't match up to the iPad. There are several instances when the device came across as sluggish and laggy, while responding. Navigation is just about fine, with specs like Nvidia Tegra 2, dual-core Cortex processor and 1GB RAM, which are pretty similar to most of the tablets in its class. Using the AnTuTu benchmark, an overall score of 4831 was achieved. The Linpack test resulted into 27.24 MFLOPS for single-threaded run and for multi-threaded run it is 47.63. The scores show that the Sony Tablet S is indeed a bit faster, than the Samsung Tab 750.

Sony had added its touch in the form its own app store called selectApp, apart from the access to the vast Android Market. We received the 16GB unit that supports an SD card up to 32GB. Now, once you pop in the SD card, the device asks you to transfer data to the internal memory , also giving an option transfer it to the SD card back. This is awkward as seemingly you can't use the data directly from the SD card. Then on, the device storage has been partitioned for media (Downloads, Audio, Video, Pictures) and system files - 8.92GB and 3.49GB, respectively. Why couldn't Sony keep it simple.

The new Apple iPad 3 has finally been unveiled sporting plenty of new features to get excited about, not least the Retina display, as found on the Apple iPhone 4S, along with an improved camera, quad-core graphics, 4G and a new raft of apps.

As the Cupertino brand's latest tablet, the new iPad (which didn't get the Apple iPad 3 moniker that we were all expecting) is set to go head to head with top-tier Android tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime. But is the new device worth trading in your Apple iPad 2for? T3 went hands-on to find out...

Apple new iPad: Build

Apart from the new camera optics the new iPad feels identical in the hand when compared to the Apple iPad 2. It features the same dimensions, button placements and weight, with the only discernible difference being the bigger camera optics at the rear.

The solid, industrial finish still wipes the floor with most competitors, many of which suffer from a plastic complexion. If you've held the iPad 2, you should know what to expect.

Apple new iPad: Screen

Apple calls it 'resolutionary', we call the 9.7-inch screen that supports a 2048 x 1536-pixel resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi) the best screen we've seen on a tablet (perhaps bar the Samsung Tab 10.1).

The addition of the Retina Display really does boost colours and make text pin-sharp on web-pages and in iBooks. In fact, wherever you see text you can't discern the pixel. It's impressive. Apple says that the screen is higher resolution than some HD TVS and, while the maths seems to add up, the close-up experience goes some way to proving the claim.

When looking at 19-megapixel photos (the highest supported by the new iPhoto app), definition is superb. 1080P video captured by the device itself is also impressive, while downloaded HD video from iTunes looks stunning. A real improvement from the iPad 2.

We're not huge fans of Downton Abbey, but the demo given showed off the smoothness and detail that higher resolution video offers.

Games also look great. We tried Namco's new Sky Gamblers Air Supremacy and were impressed with the smoothness. Graphically, Apple says the new iPad is 'better than console', although we'd want to try out a greater range of titles. In essence, the improvement in screen quality from the iPad 2 to Apple's latest is akin to the jump from Apple iPhone 3GS to Apple iPhone 4.

Apple new iPad: Features

The main improvement here is the A5X chip, which provides a quad-core GPU but dual-core CPU – so not a true quad-core tablet. The interface looks slick, especially on the new Retina Display, but we didn't notice any speed increase when switching between apps.

The camera has been lifted straight from the iPhone 4 and offers 5-megapixel stills and 1080p video (with 30fps) recording. AirPlay Mirroring is supported up to 1080p on the new Apple TV (£99) with this third-gen iPad.

The optics on the back are noticeably bigger and, even in the dark surroundings of the demo area, we could see a greater amount of light being allowed into shot. Storage options range from 16Gb to 64Gb on both the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi 4G models.

However, we'll have to wait for a UK carrier to offer HC-HSDPA or LTE connectivity before being allowed to experience the super-fast internet speeds demoed at the launch.

Apps also got an overhaul with the brilliant iPhoto – replete with multi-gesturing – being added and GarageBand and KeyNote getting upgrades. iWork will cost £6.99 and iLife, £2.99. Both can be downloaded for free if you've already paid for them.

Apple new iPad: Battery

Apple claims a battery life of 10 hours in normal use and 9 hours when using 4G. We'll look forward to testing those claims when we get our own sample. Watch this space.

Apple new iPad: Verdict

The new iPad looks and feels almost identical to the Apple iPad 2 at first glance, but it brings a fair bit more to the table, not least the impressive Retina display with that massive screen resolution. The result is pin-sharp images and huge improvements in video playback from the Apple iPad 2.

The inclusion of 4G tech is also interesting, although not that useful to us UK dwellers just yet.

On first impression, the new iPad certainly offers enough compelling new features for you to consider an upgrade from the iPad 2, but we'll let you know more as soon as we get our hands on a full review sample.

History has not known a more fierce battle than the one that exists between BMW 3Series and Audi A4. With both being in make for over 30 years now, they have been the best selling cars for their producing company. Therefore, with the launch of the brand new BMW and the revampedAudi A4, the competition between the two automotive has just become more interesting.

The latest 3 series is ripe with promise and expected to have a grand reception. The company has totally changed the whole look of the car. There has been an addition of a new engine along with various options concerning the body of the car. Moreover, the various trim levels available in this model make it all the more exciting.

On the other hand, Audi has not come with as extreme a makeover as BMW. However, with the alterations that they have made to the visual as well as mechanical experience is bound to outshine the new 3 Series.
What the BMW has concentrated on is a change in the outlook which they have indeed succeeded in achieving. The kidney grills in the front look amazing and so does the excellent work done on the plastic areas and bright patches on the trim levels. In competition to this, the Audi has come with a headlight and grille similar to that of the A6. This has given it a grand look.

However, when it comes to leg room and cabin space, the new 3 Series has equaled its rival this time. This was something that BMW has always lacked compared to A4. But not anymore! The competition is intensified when the framework of both cars is compared. Although, both have very different shapes, they are fine-looking in their own distinct way. While Audi has kept it simple when it comes to the interior with a neat arrangement and a state-of-the-art aura, BMW has it fancy. It’s interior has been inspired by that of the latest models of 1 and 6 series but it nonetheless, provides a one of a kind experience.

There is enough talk on the external factors. Now let us get down to the real thing: the engine. As mentioned before, the new 3 Series comes with a new engine, this means that it incorporates a high-end, recent technology. It has 6 cylinders and a 335i engine but lacks a bit when it comes to its efficiency. In comparison, Audi’s 4 cylinders, 2 L each 328i engine makes all the difference.

16 Months Later, New Tejas Airframe Ready To Fly

No new Tejas airframe has flown since November 2010 flight of the LSP-5 (the LSP-6 is a special airframe to achieve envelope expansion). Now, with final ground tests nearing completion, the airframe is finally ready for its first flight. The LSP-7 and LSP-8 have been earmarked for user trials by the Indian Air Force, and will be the final two limited series production aircraft. They will be followed by series production (SP-1, 2 etc) aircraft.

Audi Q3 Coming This June to India

Audi Q3 will finally cool the hot Indian summer by making its way on the Indian shores this June. Yes, the compact SUV will finally be here to witness the first drops of monsoon rain. Since its inception, the Audi Q3 will be fully armed with an all-wheel drive powered by a four-cylinder, 2.0-litre, and 177 bhp diesel engine.

There are also plans to go full swing with the launch of a robust 2.0-litre direct-injection petrol with 208 bhp later in September. The compact SUV will come at a price of Rs 23-26 lakh.

Initial readings about the Q3 reveal that the diesel SUV is not your typical hard core adventure freak on the road. The Audi Q3 is a soft-roader but does have the spunk to speed up. The compact SUV is surprisingly spacious and has all the standards of a usual Audi Car.

On the flipside it rattles a bit on the rev. In terms of the competition the Q3 has the cuts and curves of an SUV unlike the BMW X1. The X1 looks like a mutated Estate car while the Q3 with its proper SUV looks will surely appeal to the Indian customers.

The Audi Q3 has already made its appearance at the Auto Expo 2012 in New Delhi. The base level variant comes with rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, an electric handbrake and Bluetooth as standard. The compact SUV is also compact on the emissions and fuel consumption. With emissions below 140g/km for the lowest powered diesel it does give run for the money to its closest rival, the BMW X1.

The compact SUV does have its limitations with 460 litres boot space which is a bit shallow. This however does not surprise considering the fact that the Q3 is not your big SUV but just a relatively small, cheap SUV with the substance and luxuriousness of the Audi Q5 and Audi Q7.

Not content with the success of the Q5, Audi is launching an even smaller crossover to compete with the BMW X1 and Acura RDX. The Q3’s underpinnings started with the VW Tiguan platform, but the architecture was significantly altered to be considered worthy of Audi’s four interconnected rings. “We have taken the most suitable parts from the components bin, and its architecture is basically a mix of the PQ46 [Passat, CC] and PQ35 [Tiguan, Mark VI Golf] platforms,” says development coordinator Thomas Soppa.

The electronics systems are largely taken from the A3 Sportback, and the front subframe and suspension are taken from the TT. Audi worked hard on reducing weight. The engineers used tailored blanks and high-strength steel for the passenger cell, and the hood and the hatch are aluminum. As a result, Audi’s version is said to be more than 130 pounds lighter than its VW sister model.

Engine choices for the Q3 are, for the most part, four-cylinders. The entry-level engine, a 140-hp, 2.0-liter turbo-diesel, is only available with front-drive, but at 236 lb-ft, it is so torquey that extra wear on the tires might offset any savings in the showroom or at the pump. With the 177-hp version of the turbo-diesel, the fully variable, third-generation Haldex all-wheel-drive system is obligatory. The same goes for the two 2.0-liter turbocharged gas engines, which make 170 and 211 hp. The less powerful diesel and gasoline mills come standard with the MQ350 six-speed manual, whereas the burlier engines come with the DQ500 seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. A hybrid model is possible but isn’t in the works. Audi isn’t currently planning to bring the Q3 to the hybrid-friendly U.S.—although there is still a chance—and European buyers are content with their diesels.

You Could Always Do That with a Manual Transmission

The “drive select” system, which allows the driver to fiddle with vehicle parameters, comes with an efficiency mode that packs some neat tricks. Lift off the throttle in cars with the dual-clutch transmission, and the clutches disengage for a “sailing” effect. In other driving modes, the system doesn’t manipulate the transmission, but it changes throttle response, power steering assist, and—if so specified—damping rate. A stop/start system is standard.

Although it’s not exactly in a different league from the already sporty Tiguan, the way the Q3 drives is rather impressive. With its front-drive layout, the entry-level model is a quick and reasonably comfortable cruiser, its diesel engine emitting a pleasant purr that other carmakers, particularly Asian ones, have yet to match. Truly quick it isn’t, but the fuel consumption is fantastically low, even when you’re not driving like an obstacle in the road. The electric power steering seems a tad more direct and precise than the Tiguan’s, and the XDS system, which simulates a limited-slip differential, suppresses the vehicle’s urge to understeer quite well.

High: Five

What could elevate the Q3 beyond the Tiguan is the 2.5-liter single-turbo inline-five developed for the TT RS and subsequently installed in theRS3. For reasons that are not quite clear—and, frankly, not important—the five will find its way into the Q3 only slightly detuned, from 340 hp to something in the neighborhood of 310. The exact horsepower rating is not yet confirmed, but Audi tells us that the engine and the auxiliary hardware carry over from the RS cars. The horsepower difference is due to different engine mapping. The turbo five churns out 310 lb-ft of torque from a low 1600 rpm and will be coupled to the DQ500 dual-clutch gearbox from other Q3 models but also the RS 3 and the TT RS.

Although the five-cylinder turbo model is still technically in development, we were allowed to take a prototype for an extended drive. The characteristic five-pot growl is only slightly more subdued than on the RS 3, meaning it is still clearly audible from in- or outside the car. Throttle response is immediate, and the car charges forward. Audi reps suggested that this Q3 will reach 60 mph in about five seconds and top out at a governed 155 mph. More than just the drivetrain is upgraded in the five-cylinder model, as we noticed when attacking corners, where it stays absolutely neutral, with significantly less body roll than in other Q3s.

Audi contemplated using one of its high-output 2.0-liter fours as the top engine in the Q3. Although it could have achieved the same power level with one of the four-cylinders, we applaud Audi’s decision to go with the five. The engine’s sound and character set it apart from the competition, especially the upcoming BMW X1 xDrive35i with its 300-hp N55 single-turbo inline-six. That’s a sweet engine as well, but with a far more civil personality.

Gimme an S!

Right now, the most powerful engine in the Q3 lineup is camouflaged by a regular body with the S line package—and that might remain the case when it launches. But given that this is an RS engine developed by Quattro GmbH, we’d say it is at least worthy of the Q3 S or SQ 3 moniker, and not just a 2.5 TFSI badge and S line body cladding. We hope the Q3 will make it across the Atlantic, but what we really want is for Audi to bring along the fantastic five.

5.Construction of the digital engine
1. The main components of the digital engine are:
a. An internally and externally geared rotary piston 1 (RK1) forming the output,
b. At least two externally geared rotary pistons 2 (RK2) of a smaller diameter
c. An engine housing, in which both rotary pistons are supported (see Fig. 1).
2. The individual pistons of the digital engine are formed by the teeth of the internal gearing of rotary piston 1 and the teeth of the external gearing of rotary pistons 2.
3. Said teeth are set in each case at an angle of 45° and have slightly helicoidally shaped flanks.
4. The external gearing of rotary piston 1 connects the engine to the transmission.
5. The preparation, compression and power chambers are formed by the tooth spaces, the
internal contour of which corresponds precisely to the tooth shape.

6. The combustion chambers are formed by through-bores in the rotary pistons, wherein a combustion chamber is associated with each tooth space.
7. Said combustion chambers are kept sealingly closed during their rotation over a specific angle-of-rotation range by the housing walls of the digital engine.
8. Before the meshing a first connection channel for each rotary piston is provided in the housing walls. Said connection channel flow-connects the tooth space rotating past it to a combustion chamber and fills the latter with compressed air and/or with fuel mixture.

9. Behind the meshing a second connection channel for each rotary piston is provided in the housing walls. Said connection channel likewise flow-connects the combustion chamber rotating past it to one of the succeeding tooth spaces.

10. Situated in the housing walls in each case before and behind the meshing are an exhaust opening as well as an intake opening, which lies opposite the latter and is connected to an air or fuel mixture supply.
11. Both openings are successively flow-connected in each case to the tooth space rotating past.
12. The intake opening overlaps the opposing exhaust opening only over a partial angular range.

Mode of operation of the digital engine
1. A tooth space rotating past the intake opening is filled with combustion air or a fuel-air mixture.
2. The reduction of the volume of the filled tooth space as a result of the ensuing meshing of the rotary pistons subsequently leads to compression of the combustion air or fuel-air mixture.
3. Compression is effected gradually into the connection channel 1 situated before the meshing.
4. At the end of compression, as a result of the rotation of the rotary piston 1 said connection channel is flow-connected to the combustion chamber and fills the latter with the compressed medium.
5. The combustion chamber is then held sealingly closed on its way to the connection channel 2.
6. The mixture preparation and start of combustion occur during the period of displacement to the connection channel 2 - 5th phase!
7. After reaching the connection channel 2 the highly pressurized medium expands out of the combustion chamber, through the connection channel 2 into the tooth space exiting from the meshing region and there performs work which results in the rotation of the rotary pistons.
8. The exhaust gases under a slight overpressure, on reaching the exhaust opening, escape from the tooth space, wherein by virtue of the partial overlap of exhaust opening and intake opening the gas exchange is effected dynamically - similarly to the two-stroke engine.

3. An improvement of emission values is achieved by the new configuration of the combustion process.
4. Lower production costs.
