Glow in the Dark Paint

foam Paint Brushes

Mason Jar

Glitter/ Epsom Salts ( Optional see bottom for details)

Step 1. Wash your mason jar out, really well best to use rubbing alcohol to really clean it and make sure its dry

Step 2. Mix your glowing paint up according to the manufacturer's directions on the glow in dark paint add a small amount of

elmer's glue.

Colossus of Rhodes

Description

A gigantic bronze statue that once stood 32 meters (110 feet) high on a marble plinth, the Colossus of Rhodes was built by its citizens to revere the Sun God Helios who supposedly helped Rhodes to ward off Demetrius of Macedonia. Constructed by the engineer Chares of Lindos, the Colossus of Rhodes was completed after ten years of meticulous work so that the legs would sustain the enormous weight of the giant statue. Unfortunately, in 227 B.C., an earthquake caused the Colossus to crack at the knee and set it in motion so that it collapsed into pieces. Even so, the statue was so admired that it was left lying in huge fragments for over 900 years until its valuable parts were brought to Syria.

Lighthouse of Alexandria

Description

Built to guide ships through the labyrinth of sandbars that created havoc for merchants attempting to reach the port of Alexandria in Egypt, the Lighthouse or Pharos of Alexandria was the only ancient wonder to have served a practical purpose. Built between 299 and 79 B.C., the lighthouse stood some 166 meters, or around 500 feet, above the city’s western harbor and was financed by the Greek merchant Sostratus who wanted to help ensure the safety of shipping traffic.
Polished bronze mirrors were specially devised to reflect sunlight out to sea during daytime, and fires were lit at night to serve as a beacon for lost ships at night. The tower stood relatively intact until a series of earthquakes and gradual deterioration from natural elements caused the structure to collapse and eventually be dismantled for its stones.

Description

Built between 370 and 351 B.C., this monumental tomb was dedicated to King Mausolus of Caria by his grieving wife, Queen Artemisia, as a memorial to their great love. According to Plinius the Mausoleum once stood 45 metres (135 feet) high and was surrounded by 36 columns, standing atop a marble pedestal at the intersection of the two main streets of Halicarnassus. The Mausoleum stood relatively intact until 1522 A.D., when it was ordered destroyed as an example of Pagan art.

Description

The only surviving wonder of the ancient world, the Pyramids of Egypt (Giza), were the phenomenal achievement of Egyptian construction and engineering. Built between 2600 and 2500 B.C., the three pyramids at Giza encompass more than 5 million limestone blocks which were painstakingly transported via timber sleds and by being rolled over the top of logs.
As cranes were as yet unheard of, each block had to be dragged via ramps up to its designated place. According to Herodot, the largest of the three pyramids, known as the Great Pyramid, (about 146 meters high) took 20 years to complete and served as the tomb for the Egyptian Pharoah Khufu. The greatest temple of the ancient world, the Temple of Artemis once stood as the most magnificent accomplishment of Greek civilization and Hellenistic culture, built as a tribute to Artemis – the Greek goddess of the hunt, mistress of Nature, protector of wild beasts and the sister of Apollo. The Temple of Artemis was located in Ephesus (in modern-day Turkey), which was to become the richest seaport in Asia Minor.

Ha Long Bay is located in Quáng Ninh province, Vietnam. The bay features thousands of limestone karsts and isles in various sizes and shapes. Returning to Cambodia after visits to Moscow and Peking, Prince Norodom Sihanouk is ousted as Cambodian chief of state in a bloodless coup by pro-western Lt. Gen. Lon Nol, premier and defense minister, and First Deputy Premier Prince Sisowath Sirik Matak, who proclaim the establishment of the Khmer Republic. Sihanouk had tried to maintain Cambodian neutrality, but the communist Khmer Rouge, supported by their North Vietnamese allies, had waged a very effective war against Cambodian government forces. After ousting Sihanouk and taking control of the government, Lon Nol immediately set about to defeat the communists. Between 1970 and 1975, he and his army, the Forces Armees Nationale Khmer (FANK), with U.S. support and military aid, would battle the Khmer Rouge communists for control of Cambodia.

When the U.S. forces departed South Vietnam in 1973, both the Cambodians and South Vietnamese found themselves suddenly fighting the communists alone. Without U.S. support, Lon Nol's forces succumbed to the Khmer Rouge in April 1975. The victorious Khmer Rouge evacuated Phnom Penh and began reordering Cambodian society, which resulted in a killing spree and the notorious "killing fields." Eventually, hundreds of thousands of Cambodians were murdered or died from exhaustion, hunger, and disease. During the five years of bitter fighting for control of the country, approximately 10 percent of Cambodia's 7 million people died.

Mar 18, 1969:

U.S. B-52 bombers are diverted from their targets in South Vietnam to attack suspected communist base camps and supply areas in Cambodia for the first time in the war. President Nixon approved the mission--formally designated Operation Breakfast--at a meeting of the National Security Council on March 15. This mission and subsequent B-52 strikes inside Cambodia became known as the "Menu" bombings. A total of 3,630 flights over Cambodia dropped 110,000 tons of bombs during a 14-month period through April 1970. This bombing of Cambodia and all follow up "Menu" operations were kept secret from the American public and the U.S. Congress because Cambodia was ostensibly neutral. To keep the secret, an intricate reporting system was established at the Pentagon to prevent disclosure of the bombing. Although the New York Times broke the story of the secret bombing campaign in May 1969, there was little adverse public reaction.

In this world there are so many Ancient Highways. On this occasion I will write about TOP 10 Ancient Highways scattered in various parts of the world.

1. The Khmer Highway, Cambodia

Constructed when: late 12th to early 13th century - Constructed by: King Jayavarman VII
Religion: Buddhist - Architectural style: Bayon
Location: present day Cambodia and Thailand

The Ancient Khmer Highway was a 225 km roadway going northwest between Angkor (in Cambodia) and Phimai (now in Thailand). While it was not the only such road built by the Khmer, it was the most important one. The road has been proven to exist in the 12th and 13th century, but it is quite certain that it existed earlier. Most of the buildings along the road date from the reign of King Jayavarman VII.

This former 140-mile (225 km) road from Angkor, Cambodia, and Phimai, Thailand, and was sacred to the Cambodian empire "god-king" who traveled the road visiting temples and religious ceremonies with fire, water and linga (phallic sculptures of stone). Most are now covered with jungle, but you can still visit many temples and drive an area close to Phimai.

The Dharmasala Route from Angkor to Phimai. The road used the Ta Muen Thom pass over the Dongrek mountains, and the first major stop was the Phanom Rung temple. The only part of the road which is still driveable is at the entrance to the town of Phimai (state route 2163).

2. The Old North Trail, North America

Blackfoot Indians traveled along the Old Northern Road, which originally extended about 2,000 miles (3220 km) from Canada to Mexico, along the "backbone of the world" that the Americans later called the Rockies. It took four years Blackfoot to get from one end to the travel industry, travel to the sacred, or find a wife. You can visit the fragments are still visible in Glacier National Park in Montana.

3. The Nakasendo Highway, Japan

This narrow, 17th-century highway linking Kyoto and Edo (modern Tokyo) was built along the route of an older trail. Running for 310 miles (500 kilometers) along the shores of Lake Biwa, across mountain ranges and down onto the Kanto Plain around Edo, it was meant for horses and pedestrians—the Japanese did not use carts. Parts of the tranquil route have been preserved and restored, which means that you have to walk them, as most of its original travelers did.

4. The Yuen Tsuen Ancient Trail, Hong Kong, China

For centuries, people traveled along this rugged footpath between Yuen Long and Tsuen Wan in what is now Hong Kong’s New Territories. Today, both ends of the trail are embedded in a thoroughly urban sprawl of malls and traffic jams, but the middle remains a delicious haven of peace.

5. The Old Great North Road, Australia

The famous masterpiece of the 19 st century technology, the road is also a sad but condemn the use of employees, some strains, to build it. It 'started in Sydney and ended in Newcastle in New South Wales Hunter Valley. Some sections follow the ancient indigenous songs.

6. The Persian Royal Road, Turkey to Iran

Darius the Great of Persia developed this road linking the Mediterranean and the Persian Gulf, the career of Sardis northwestern Turkey through Mesopotamia to Susa in Iran. King Midas, the prophet Daniel, Queen Esther, the historian Herodotus, and conqueror Alexander the Great found in the call of those who traveled along it.

7. The King’s Highway, Egypt to Syria

It was one of the great trade routes of the Middle East in biblical times, from Egypt through the Sinai to the Gulf of Aqaba, and then north of Syria. He spent several pilgrimage sites such as Mount Nebo, Jordan, where Moses saw the Promised Land.

8. The Via Egnatia, Albania to Turkey

The Romans, Greeks, Byzantines, Crusaders, Venetians, Ottomans and Austrians have all used this way on the stunning mountains of the Balkan Peninsula. Roman proconsul Cn Egnatius he built in the first century BC connecting the Adriatic Sea to the Aegean Sea and the Bosphorus.

9. The Amber Road, Russia to Italy

Since ancient times, gold amber "North" was changed in this way from the Baltic to the Adriatic. Today is a fascinating journey to follow in St. Petersburg through Central and Eastern Europe in Venice.

10. The Via Augusta, Spain

Follow the road is named after the Emperor Augustus, Cadiz in Andalusia on the north by modern Coll Panissars in Catalonia in the Pyrenees. There he joined the Domitian, and goes to Rome, where all roads.

In Taekwondo, Cambodia Wins First Asian Games Gold

Sorn Seavmey, a 19-year-old from Phnom Penh, made history Friday when she won an Asian Games taekwondo final in South Korea to take Cambodia’s first gold medal at the games.

Ms. Seavmey, who trains out of the Olympic Stadium under South Korean coach Choi Yong-Sok, beat fighters from Uzbekistan, the Philippines and Iran to take the women’s under-73kg gold.

The gold is also Cambodia’s first Asian Games medal of any color since the 1970 games in Bangkok.

“I am so happy to achieve this feat,” Ms. Seavmey said after her victory. “It is a dream come true for my family.”

“I want to thank all Cambodian people and dedicate this gold to them.”

Ms. Seavmey, who won taekwondo gold at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in Myanmar, came from 3-0 down in the final to take the victory from Fatemeh Rouhani of Iran.

Vat Chamroeun, secretary-general of the National Olympic Committee of Cambodia, said that a contingent of Cambodian expatriates in the crowd had cheered Seavmey to victory.

“The final was very tough for Seavmey because she was behind by 3-0,” Mr. Chamroeun said. “But because of encouragement from our workers in Korea and some cheering from friends and officials, Seavmey was able to score seven points in the second round.”

“The Cambodian national flag was hung and they respected our national anthem and it was broadcast all over the world,” he added. “It is a great honor for our 14 million people.”

Prior to the gold medal match, Ms. Seavmey edged past another Southeast Asian Games gold medalist—Kirstie Elaine Alora of the Philippines—by 6 points to 5.

In her opening clash, she destroyed Uzbekistan’s Umida Abdullavera by 29-7.

Mr. Chamroeun said that while the 19-year-old’s “strength is still limited,” her technique and height—she is 180 cm tall—saw her prevail over more seasoned opponents.

When she returns to Cambodia, she will be showered with gifts, the NOCC boss said, including $20,000 from the government.

“According to a government sub-decree, she will be awarded 80 million riel and NagaWorld also promised to provide more than $3,000 and Angkor Beer also promised it would give more than $6,000 for Asian Games [gold medalists],” he said.

Lim Kean Hor, the Minister of Water Resources and Meteorology, and a 4th dan karate black belt, said that Ms. Seavmey was an example to Cambodia’s youth.

“I admire her effort to win the gold medal and it is a great honor for the country,” he said Friday. “Martial arts not only brings health, but also discipline.”

Ms. Seavmey’s sister, Sorn Davin, 21, had gone to the Asian Games with even higher expectations than her younger sister in the over-73 kg taekwondo.

However, she suffered a broken hand in her opening match against Iran’s Akram Khodabandeh and bowed out 8-1.

The city remains undisturbed from the surface at a depth of 26-40m, and has provided scientists and archaeologists a glimpse into what life in ancient China was really like. Many of the intricate stone carvings and guardian lions that were scattered around the city are still perfectly intact as seen in the pictures taken by Chinese National Geography.

Qiu Feng, a local official in charge of tourism, first asked a Beijing-based diving club to come and explore the lake in 2001. Since then there has been an influx of tourists, and dive operators such as Big Blue in Shanghai organize trips to the city throughout the year, proving unusual opportunities to explore its underwater streets. A special submarine was also constructed to provide tours of the city, but has yet to be used due to local restrictions and concerns over damaging the city’s remains.

While the submerged city might seem beautiful now, it’s important to remember that the Chinese government at the time were happy to bury Lion City, along with another large city, 27 towns, 1,377 villages, and almost 50,000 acres of farmland to create a hydroelectric plant. The move flooded thousands of homes and displaced 290,000 citizens – a large price to pay for electricity and entertainment for hapless tourists.

Jacob’s Well, Texas

Jacob's Well is a perennial karstic spring in the Texas Hill Country flowing from the bed of Cypress Creek, located northwest of Wimberley, Texas.The 12-foot (3.7 m) diameter mouth of the spring serves as a popular swimming spot for the local land owners whose properties adjoin Cypress Creek. From the opening in the creek bed, Jacob's Well cave descends vertically for about 30 feet (9.1 m), then continues downward at an angle through a series of silted chambers separated by narrow restrictions, finally reaching a depth of 120 feet (37 m). Until the modern era, the Trinity Aquifer-fed natural artesian spring gushed water from the mouth of the cave, with a measured flow in 1924 of 170 US gallons per second (640 L/s), discharging 6 feet (1.8 m) into the air. The spring is the greatest source of water recharging the Edwards Aquifer.

Every year car manufacturers and designers dream up a string of super-cool concept cars to test public reaction and show off their skills. Very few concepts actually make it on to our roads, but there are always some exceptions. Often the technology and design elements used on concept cars are also adopted for use on vehicles that do actually make it on to production lines. Usually concept cars are created by the car firms themselves, but sometimes individual agencies or designers not affiliated with the brands have a go to make a name for themselves. Here we look at the ten coolest concept cars envisaged in recent years.

10. Aston Martin CC100 Speedster

Aston Martin unveiled the stunning CC100 Speedster concept as part of the firm’s 100th anniversary celebrations. What they came up with is, we’re sure you’ll agree, one of the most beautiful four-wheel creations ever made. Incredibly, the CC100 only took six months to be designed and built by the British firm. It was based on their 1951 DBR1, and as a tribute completed a lap of Germany’s Nordschleife race track alongside the older vehicle when it was unveiled at the 24-hours of Nurburgring race in May 2013. Aston Martin describe it as “the epitome of everything that is great” about their cars. Hopefully we’ll see James Bond driving one soon.

9. Ferrari Millenio

The Ferrari Millenio is the brainchild of Yugoslavian designer extraordinaire Marko Petrovic. He envisaged a completely electric vehicle with two motors, which would be recharged by solar panels on the bodywork as well as through a futuristic inductive power transfer system (a wireless charger). The bodywork would be reinforced by buckypaper, which is lighter than carbon fiber but stronger than steel. And it looks amazing. Although not affiliated with Ferrari, Petrovic still managed to capture some of the spirit of the Italian supercar giant while taking the design to the next level. The Millenio is a two-seater like the CC100 Speedster above, we would love to see the two concept cars go head-to-head on a track. Sadly, that is unlikely to ever happen.

8. Lamborghini Ankonian

Remind you of something? Yup, Batman wouldn’t look out of place in one of these. The Ankonian was created by Macedonian design guru Slavche Tanevsky, reportedly with the participation of Lamborghini and Audi designers who he let have final say on the project. It looks like a road-going stealth-bomber and while it features a lot of similar base styling to the Lamborghini Reventon, it just goes that extra mile when it comes to aggressiveness. We mean, you’re not going to mess with someone who comes out of one of these are you — whether they’re wearing a bat suit or not.

7. Mercedes-Benz BIOME

The BIOME was dreamt up by designers’ at Mercedes’ Californian design studio as the “perfect vehicle of the future” and is one of the wackiest cars on this list. It is meant to be “at one with nature” and is actually a kind of, er, living organism. Apparently the wheels would be sown with seeds, and the bodywork would be grown from the DNA of what Mercedes call BioFibre, which would absorb the sun’s rays and store it as energy in a chemical bond called BioNectar4534 (no, we don’t understand it either). The car would only emit oxygen, which is obviously a good thing for us humans, but has BioFibre actually been invented yet? Er, no. That doesn’t stop this being one remarkable idea. And the boss of Mercedes’ California design studio Hubert Lee says: “There are elements within the design that could easily be progressed and developed for production.” Bring on the future!

6. Peugeot Onyx

You thought BioFibre was weird? How about a car made out of papier mache? That’s one element on a long list of weird and wonderful materials used to make the Peugeot Onyx. But the good thing about this car is it’s actually been made. Peugeot fitted the ultra-lightweight car with a 3.7liter diesel engine which pumps out 600hp and is capable of doing over 100mph. An electric second motor — yup, this is a hybrid — adds an extra 80bhp. The chassis is made of carbon-fiber and the bodywork out of copper panels which will turn green as the car ages. Inside, the dashboard is made of compacted recycled newspapers (that’s where the papier mache comes in) while the panelling and steering wheel are recycled felt.

5. BMW 328 Hommage

Like the Aston Martin at the top, this is another vehicle whose looks were inspired by a legendary car from times gone by. And, like the Aston Martin, it really does its predecessor justice. The BMW 328 was one of the best-selling sports cars of the 1930s, and the Hommage concept was created to celebrate its 75th anniversary. It looks amazing and is, like the original 328, an open-top. It features a 3liter straight-six engine, with a modern-day adaptation of the car’s kidney grille at the front and a suitably chunky rear end. The Hommage is made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic, so is like most of the concept cars on this list much lighter than most of those we see on our roads today. It was unveiled at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy in 2011.

4. Ford Shelby GR-1

The Ford Shelby GR-1 concept car was unleashed on the world in 2005 and has left car fans wondering what if ever since. It was inspired by the Shelby Daytona from 1964, and looked simply stunning. It had a 6.4liter all-aluminum V10 engine wedged under the hood, producing up to 605hp. And outside, its shimmering polished-aluminium body was a thing of beauty to behold. It boasted 19in wheels and butterfly doors, and was designed to be fully roadgoing and production-feasible. It is one of a string of recent concept cars from Ford, and came hot on the heels of their Shelby Cobra concept from 2004, which was another jaw-dropper.

3. Lexus LF-LC

Now here’s one you might actually see on roads in the foreseeable future. The LF-LC was said to have been given the go-ahead for production in March 2013 and is expected to reach showrooms by 2017. It’s thought the two-plus-two sports coupe will have a gas-electric hybrid V8 engine producing at least 500hp. It’s expected to cost $200,000. The LF-LC received a very good reception from car dealers when it was unveiled in 2012, which is why of all the concept cars listed here this is one that actually becomes a reality. But there’s still plenty of political and economic hurdles the manufacturer has to overcome before they can make it happen.

2. Infiniti Essence

Another anniversary creation, the Essence was designed to celebrate 20 years since Infinite first started making cars. It was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, but has as yet not made it into production. The car came with a three-piece Louis Vuitton luggage set which fitted neatly into the trunk. And it featured groundbreaking technology for its time which would brake the car for you if you didn’t notice you were getting too close to other cars or hazardous obstacles. You’d need that with such shiny paintwork. The Essence was a hybrid, with a 3.7liter V6 engine coupled with an electric motor producing a combined 590hp.

1. Buick Riviera

The Buick Riviera boasts incredible good looks — and is a plug-in hybrid to boot. It is Buick’s idea of the future, and got people falling over themselves to see it when it was unveiled at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show. The Riviera was aimed at adapting the brand’s famous image for a new era, and as it was unveiled in China was designed specifically to appeal to the Asian market. It came with all sorts of cool stuff like gullwing doors and luminous blue lighting around the headlights and name badge. It could also charge itself wirelessly, like the Ferrari Millenio would be able to above.

The Nobel Prize winner, Dr. Otto H. Warburg, had devoted his life to the study of and cause of cancer.

Dr. Warburg was one of the 20th centuries leading biologists, and he discovered that the root cause of cancer is too much acidity in the body, meaning that the pH in the body is below the normal level of 7.365, which constitutes an “acidic” state. Warburg investigated the metabolism of tumours and the respiration of cells and discovered that cancer cells maintain and thrive in a lower pH, as low as 6.0, due to lactic acid production and elevated CO2. He firmly believed that there was a direct relationship between pH and oxygen. Higher pH, which is Alkaline, means higher concentration of oxygen molecules, while lower pH, which is acidic, means lower concentrations of oxygen…the same oxygen that is needed to maintain healthy cells.

In 1931 Dr. Warburg was awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine for this important discovery. He stated, “Cancerous tissues are acidic, whereas healthy tissues are alkaline. Dr. Warburg has made it clear that the root cause of cancer is oxygen deficiency, which creates an acidic state in the human body.
