Cok Ace added that filming will be Julia Roberts’ positive impact on tourism of Bali and Indonesia in the international arena. “Maybe the impact we can not feel it will be felt directly in the future,” he said.
In completing this film, Julia Robert’s shot in three countries, namely Italy, India, and Bali (Indonesia). Julia Roberts filming planned since October 16, 2009 for two weeks. Travelling to Bali brings Hollywood star Julia Roberts to embracing the Hindu religion, possibly.

While filming the movie version of the bestseller "Eat, Pray and Love" in Ubud, Bali, and India, actress Julia Roberts fell in love with the Hindu religion, and soon after converted, now living her life according to ancient Hindu scriptures and practises. She says:

I'm definitely a practising Hindu.

For the movie she also visited Italy for filming, but evidently was left cold by Italian Catholicism, possibly not finding it exotic enough.

After her spiritual awakening in Bali and India she now "chants, prays and celebrates" at a local ashram. Her husband, Daniel Moder, and their three offspring who with one non-egregious exception had relatively normal names for the spawn of celebrities, that is: Hazel, Phinnaeus, and Henry; are not being left out of things either, all receiving instruction from a Hindu holy man in the proper way to pray; and possibly including how to eat, but probably not love. It appears as well that they have received Hindu names: Hazel is now known as Laxmi; Henry as Krishna Balram, while Phinnaeus has not seen much improvement, being lumped with Ganesh.

Not content with renaming her children Julia has also named her film production company "Red Om Films".
The star has also adopted the belief in reincarnation and has given some thought on the shape of her next, reincarnated life: [1]

While international reports are attributing her conversion to Hinduism almost exclusively to her time in India, doggedly patriotic Indonesian media are emphasising the Bali connection, and so are we.

Oscar-winning Hollywood star Julia Roberts has arrived in Bali for what is expected to be a month-long filming of the Bali portion of Elizabeth Gilbert's novel "Eat Pray Love."

Gilbert's best-selling autobiographical recounting of her post-divorce travels in Italy, India and Bali is to become a Columbia Pictures (Sony) film starring Roberts, Javier Bardem and Richard Jenkins. In the story, Gilbert spent four months in Italy, eating and enjoying life (Eat). She spent four months in India, trying to find her spirituality (Pray). She ended the year in Bali, Indonesia, looking for "balance" of the two, and love (Love).

Indeed, Bali is the center of balance between life pleasure and spiritual fulfillment as the island offers beautiful landscapes, relaxing beaches and culinary delights while Balinese determination to uphold their unique culture and spirituality seems always to amaze its visitors. Bali has constantly awarded as top international destination by various travel media, the Travel & Leisure Magazine has awarded Bali as the World's Best Island in 2009.

Bali filming is focused on areas in and around Ubud and Bali's southernmost beach with cast and crew staying in various five star hotels on the island.

Filming is also scheduled to take place in Ubud's famous Monkey Forest in Padangtegal, Nyuh Kuning, Pengosekan and the traditional art market in Ubud.

Cok Ace, who is also the leader of Ubud's royal household, has issued a special invitation to Julia Roberts to his Palace for dinner. It remains to be seen, however, if the notoriously reclusive star will set aside time on her schedule for visits with Cok Ace or Bali's governor.

Legislator Claims New Apartment Complex Does Not Meet Residential Zoning Rules. Local Official Begs to Differ.

(2/9/2008) Bali Post has drawn attention to the construction of a new apartment complex on Jalan Majapahit in Kuta.

Quoting a member of the Badung House of Representatives (DPRD) from nearby Legian, IGN Sudiarsa, the Bali Post questioned the building of the large apartment complex in an area zoned for residential purposes. In the legislator's opinion, the operation of a commercial apartment complex including shopping and dining facilities is not in conformance with local codes limiting residential dwellings in the subject area.

Sudiarsa, who is the Chairman of Commission A at the House of Representatives, also told the Bali Post that another project - The Haven apartment complex in Legian is the source of complaints from local residents who say the apartment destroys the tranquility of the local neighborhood.

The Head of the Tourism Office for Badung, I Made Subawa, has defended the construction of apartment complexes in residential areas, saying the new project possesses all the necessary permits.

Subawa did pledge, however, to investigate accusations that the construction process is disturbing the surrounding neighborhood.

Subawa said that a final operating permit will be issued once the apartment project is completed. He also defended the "carrying capacity" for new apartment projects in Kuta, saying developers undertake detailed feasibility studies before commencing such projects.

The Jalan Majapahit project will be four stories high and include a shopping mall and restaurants. Current building regulations limit buildings in Bali to the height of a local coconut palm, a length generally agreed to be 15 meters.

Panorama to build apartments in Bali

JAKARTA: Tourism business the Panorama Leisure Group is planning to build a boutique hotel and apartment complex in Seminyak, Bali in what the management says is a vote of confidence in the island’s tourism prospects.

Panorama management said in a statement that it would build the complex, the Haven Villa and Apartments, in the second quarter of 2007, with operations expected to commence at the end of 2008.

To date, the complex, which consists of seven villas and 60 apartments units, has been well-received, with the villas all having been sold out.

The management is now therefore focusing on selling the apartment units, at a price averaging at US$200,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and $340,000 to $380,000 for a two-bedroom apartment.

To attract more buyers, the group is offering a 6 percent guaranteed rental return per annum for the first three years of operation. — JP

Anyone who has walked from Poppies II through Gang Ronta to Poppies I will of noticed the construction behind Pasar Agung, the art market on Poppies I. This construction is called Kuta Town Houses. Today I passed by and went in for a look. Kuta Town Houses is a 3 -storey deal featuring 15 units, 8 of which have already been sold. Downstairs is a pool, there will be restaurant and business center. A nice young lady showed me around and we checked out a second story place with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, balcony and lounge. All rooms are fitted with fan and AC and look very clean although none are furnished yet. The units will be sold fully furnished, including a plate, knife fork and spoon according to my guide. They will also be fitted with satellite TV, DVD and there will be a reception, maid service, bar & dining, massage service.

Looking at the price list all units range between 2 bedroom & 1/2 bath for between $82,400-$94,700. You will have a 25 year lease.Kuta Town Houses is managed by a management company, that takes 30% of rental, plus $1,000 for maintenance. The owner is an Aussie guy who I met briefly. He seemed a decent bloke from the 10 words we exchanged.If you are interested in Kuta Town Houses, stop by and talk to the staff. According to the brochure, the benefits include: Monthly owners income statement, audited accounts, a tax efficient investment, ownership structure, lease agreement drawn up by Bali based Australian lawyer, owner can be assured their investment is secure.
