#Mignonesia is back again after the long hiatus, bringing you the Mignonesia wishing you the latest updates from talented, one of the humble human beings we honored to know, Harish MC Uneek!

Mignonesia had a chance to interviewed #Uneek last year. Here the flash back of our first interview and his great music and his brilliant answers during our interview, HERE

We are hapy to follow Uneek's progress and impressed with his music career achievements Uneek feat MC Mike, is launcing a new song and we managed to arrange another online interview. Uneek has a lot of updates to share and here's our uncut full report of the interview with the blog host, Dita Mignonesia. :P. Enjoy!

Mignonesia: First, congrats for the new music video. I LOVE it! Thousands views on You Tube already, bravo! Kinda took a while for you to release the new song, wanna tell your fans why you kept them waiting? ):

Uneek: Thank you Dita. We're very glad the video did good. The delay had to do with me moving to a new city to pursue few career options. Took a while for me to come back to Hyderabad and start working on music again.

Mignonesia: I see many changes in this new video, the obvious change is that we see this "Uneek & MC Mike" in the title, what happened? Tell me more about it, is this another collaboration or you guys are a duo now?

Uneek: We've always been a crew. Even when we released our first video Second Chance. The Uneek & MC Mike title reinstates our equal efforts and dedication that we put into our music videos.

Mignonesia: I actually liked the chemistry you both have in this new video, I saw two stars collaborating. How do you guys felt about doing any creative projects together again?

Uneek & MC Mike: The phase of making the video right from pre to post production is a celebration. We have worked on other music videos together as well, not released though. The next two months are going to be amazing as we plan to release as many as four music videos. It's a great experience to collaborate with other artists who share the same passion.

Mignonesia: I still have many questions but I will go with the creative process on the song first and it goes to you both, who wrote the lyrics? Was it a challenge to write lyrics for this collaboration?

Uneek: I penned down my verse's lyrics and likewise, Mike penned down his part.The creative challenge involved at this stage would be to find the right balance between our verses. We can't afford to overdo it or under do it either. There is a beautiful sense of coexistence that we aim to achieve through our lyrics whenever we collaborate. Collectively, this brings out the beauty in the song. Feels like our verses are so similar to each other, yet so different.

Mignonesia: Tell me more about the song, what's the story behind it, I read the opening line on the vid "Dedicated to Dad", is this your own personal story guys? What's the message you guys wanted to spread through the title "Make Believe"?

Uneek & Crew : I dedicated the video to my Dad as a token of my gratitude towards him. Last year has been difficult for me as I had to witness few unfortunate events that changed my understanding of life. Make Believe is what me, as a person and me and Mike, as a group, stand up against. We wanted to convey this noble gesture of standing up for yourself and staying genuine throughout all the stages of your life.

Mignonesia: Cant hold myself from asking this, question to Uneek; If I compare this new song lyrics with the lyrics on your previous songs; its still brill, you got the rhyme and all but I must say the lyrics sounds a lot more "simple" in this song yet much more "friendly" and catchy to the average listener like me for instance haha, what do you guys would say about that? were you somehow did a lil compromising to wider your audience?

Uneek & Crew: That has been a part of our agenda when we make songs. To make them widely understandable and relatable to also. We have made a few other songs where you'd see the lyricism is more complex in terms of terminology. We plan on depicting various levels of lyricism depending on the flow and feel of the song and also depending on what we want to convey.

Mignonesia: In my first interview, Uneek said that he would like to describe his music as an effort to bring out a positive change in its listeners, I see this idealism also continue in this new song, am I right? What you guys think about Indian rap music in general, I mean do their lyrics usually reflect some of India culture and values for instance?

Uneek & Crew : That conceptualization is evident in Make Believe. It's hard to try and change that because that was the sole reason why we, as artists, were inspired by music and wanted to convey something sensible every time we make a piece of art. I feel rap music in India has been doing better than it was a couple of years back. There are an increasing number of new breed artists opting rap and hip hop as a medium to convey how they feel. And that can only be positive since there is a sense of collaboration and community. And I think the lyrics do reflect bits and pieces of Indian culture a lot of times.

Mignonesia: I heard that new songs are coming soon, is it true? Can we get some leaks?How about their video concepts? Will there be some new innovation too?

Uneek and Crew : Yeah, great news for people who listen to our music. We have four music videos ready for release. The next few months would be great for us and for the listeners as well. Every music video we make has a new technical conceptualization as well as a new artistic vision. Really excited to release a few teaser trailers for the videos.

DIY: HOMEMADE GREEK YOGURT

Do you like yogurt? cuz I do. I like it a lot!

I like both conventional and strained yogurt, all have good healthy benefits but I prefer Greek Yogurt for my foods cuz it contains more protein, less sweet, low fat- some even fat-free! - always check the label when you shop it tho, and its creamy cheese texture is really addictive.

Since I prefer yogurt than mayo for my foods I always need yogurt stock on my fridge and being love working with my hands, I've been wanting to make my own Greek yogurt so to my curiosity, I did a lil research a.ka browsing :P and I found out that it is actually soooo easy to make! Only need milk , yogurt starter, patience and lots of love, well surprise I have all that! Ha ha

In those articles I read on the net many use fat milk. I don't wont that ofc. I use local fresh milk from Pangalengan instead and its 100% pure cow milk so its good.

Pangalengan is a region in South Bandung, well known for its milk products, the cooling weather and beautiful tea plantations.

I read enough, I got all the ingredients I need but because this will be my first time ever making my own yogurt and particularly Greek Yogurt I only use 500ml of fresh cow milk. I only need like 0.5% of yogurt starter for 500ml of milk so I use half tablespoon of live culture yogurt -I use plain greek yogurt I bought earlier.

Before I browse, I was confuse about the yogurt starter but not anymore now, There are 2 types of starter culture available to use at home: Fresh yogurt and yogurt Powder.

Hommade or store bought yogurt?

A homemade starter usually comes from your own prev batch, so don't forget to leave some to make your next yogurt once you made home made yogurt. The yogurt should be fresh that's means less than a week old so it still contains enough lactic acid bacteria to ferment the next batch. Lactic acid bacteria decrease with age.

I you bought the yogurt at the store, it should be fresh, unflavored and not pasteurized after the bacterial culture added, Check the label and see if it state live bacteria or something similar.

A dried culture contains bacteria and milk solids. Basically, it's yogurt that's dehydrated and freeze-dried and sold in powdered form.

Method:

Pour the milk into the pot and bring it almost to boil over medium-high heat.
Once the milk begins to bubble around the edges of the saucepan, remove it from the stove, cover it with a lid, and set aside and allow the milk to cool.

Next, when it still warm add and stir the yogurt culture into the milk.

Stir well

Turn the oven on to its warm setting, or to 110°F and leave the yogurt in the oven for 5-10 hours.

OR- since I wanted to save energy as much as possible:P, you can use the alternative way instead like I did; I transfered the mixture into a plastic box

and cover it with the lid [no worry am using safe high quality plastic box from a well known brand but maybe next time I'll try with glass container too].

Well, the weather was so good yesterday, it was about 25 degrees C

so I just placed it under the sun. :D

but dang 3hours later it gets cloudy outside and I still refuse to use the oven and so I wrapped it with a thick towel instead and place it into a clean carton box [which I forgot to shot] covered the carton box with some news papers and leave them in warm room about 7 hour.

Once the mixture has thickened, remove it from the oven or the carton box.

Place a fine clean cheesecloth over a bowl or plastic tube like I did. Tie the cheesecloth in place, leaving several inches of space between the bottom of the bowl and the clean cheesecloth.

Pour the yogurt mixture into the clean cheesecloth and place it in the refrigerator overnight.

In the morning the yogurt should be nice and thick. The liquidy whey should be at the bottom of the bowl. Discard the whey.

Transfer the yogurt to a nice bowl. It's now ready to be eaten.

The homemade Greek yogurt will stay fresh for a week when placed in a jar, covered with the lid and stored in the refrigerator but I think I will finish it in just two days ha ha

Yes, the good thing about homemade Greek yogurt is you can keep the whey.

Yogurt Whey contains calcium, the mineral linked to bone health. It's also a good source of potassium and vitamin B-2 so I definitely have to keep it and will instead using water or milk, I will just use whey for my smoothies, oatmeal even soup for added protein.

Soo many health benefits in Greek yogurt it just wow me in many ways and am glad I can make it myself now coz this way I can control the ingredients I am using.

Some might not like Greek yogurt. Well, am not a nutrition expert but many good articles out there you can browse that can explains better, maybe this one HERE can be a good start.

I love eating and cooking but I don't want to let go myself and get fat so am dieting always and on the same time I want to stay healthy therefor I cant be ignorant. I need to be smart, keep myself well informed by browsing and read, read, read and learn how to cook or how to pick the right and good foods, learn the best way to process the foods to get the max health benefits, omg its so FUN I tell ya!

Eat smart and stay fit! I word that. YAY

SAUNG ANGKLUNG UDJO, BANDUNG. A MUST VISIT!

Hellooo blogsphere, am baaaaack! YAY

How time flies!!! and so this is my first post in the new year, 2014 and the Lunar new year, the year of the Horse after another super long hiatus ha ha. How I miss posting!!! Been soo busy bee with work and everything but that just sounds like an excuse, doesn't it? :) :P

Anyways, about two week ago me and my family went to Saung Angklung Udjo and we had soo much FUN learning, playing and enjoying the exotic sounds of Angklung, a musical instrument made from bamboo.

I dunno if they still do this at schools but when me, also my sister, my youngest brother and my brother in law except for my angel 4 yo niece were in elementary school, we remember we got music lesson and also learned traditional instruments. So playing Angklung is not really our first and our visit to Saung Angklung Udjo was like bring our ol school memory back of how fun it was learning traditional musical instruments. Well thats should be more for my Sister actually ihihi. I meant She always have such big interest in traditional things and unlike my sister I didn't paid that much attention in school either so I should say she got better memory about the school things than I am lols. I think I played more than study when I was a kid ha ha! Oww better stop my shameless rants about my past and back to the op, shall we not?! heheheh :P

But before we go further, what is so special about this bamboo instrument you asked? Well, I honestly didn't really know what so wow about it too BUT I did a lil research for this post a.k.a browsing so I did learned a bit more now about traditional music and angklung in particuliar, eventually! :P and its interesting and cool instrument I think , just amazing how it took me many long years to even realize that. x_x!

About Angklung.

Angklung is West Java traditional musical instruments made from bamboo pipes. According to my source, the word of "Angklung" was originated from Sundanese "Angkleung-angkleungan" that means the movement of angklung player and the sounds "klung" that comes from the instruments.

The unique part of angklung is that each instrument has the sound of only one specific note. The note can be produced by simply shaking the angklung. Because of that, angklung is usually played in groups of people, using up one, two or even up to five sets of angklung.

According to its history, Peoples in western part of Indonesia which called Sundanese, functions Angklung as an instrument in religious rituals in the past.
They use Angklung as a medium to invite Dewi Sri (rice goddess/prosperity) to come down to the earth and gave fertility to plants using old angklung or buhun angklung in local.

Whats makes buhun angklung different than modern Angklung is their musical scales; Tritonic, Tetratonic and Pentatonic or three tones, four tones and five tones.

It was only in 1938, the re-inventor Angklung Daeng Soetigna expanded Angklung's notations not only to play traditional pélog or sléndro scales, but also diatonic scaleand and because of his Angklung modifications, Angklung become more modern and often played together with other western music instruments in an orchestra and made Angklung gets International attentions.

Angklung today can be performed through all genre of music. Musical numbers from classical work to a very well known radio top 40 hits.

The modern Angklung or better known as Daeng Angklung or Padaeng Angklung has ofc enriched Sundanese musical instruments beside the traditional angklungs that already exist such as Angklung Baduy, Angklung Buncis, Angklung Gubrak, Angklung Bungko, that still used by some villages in many ceremonies as explained here

Saung Angklung Udjo.

Inspired by the Angklung Maestro, Daeng Soetigna who invented Angklung Diatonic or also known as Angklung Do Re MI, the famous Angklung artist Udjo Ngalangena [RIP] who well known as Mang Udjo or Uncle Udjo in English who happened to be his student and also his assistant, created an Angklung house in 1966 with his wife Uum Sumiati which located in the northern part of Bandung, at Jalan Padasuka 118 or Padasuka Street 118 in English.

Saung Angklung Udjo or commonly called SAU aimed to maintain and preserve Sundanese culture and traditional arts where you can see Angklung made, learned and played.

SAU has become a very well-known one-stop cultural workshop in Indonesia and one of highly recommended tourism destination for a long time now.

Mang Udjo contribution with his Saung Angklung Udjo has made him as an Angklung legend.

Me and my fam have to say Saung Angklung Udjo is such a worth visit and if you haven't go there, I totally recommend it especially for those of you who is looking for fun yet educative tourism destination and in this post I will show you why.

First, how to visit Saung Angklung Udjo? I stole this map above from SAU website hihi.

cuz if you haven't go there, you should go there sweetie and the map should help you find the place. Its about 7km from the Bandung center, I think..or just calculate yourself later. :P

Anyways, when I arrived at Saung Angklung Udjo, I instantly felt the relaxedness of a small village.The place is surrounded by huge Bamboo field and so their parking area. So green and felt really fresh.

With the long weekend traffic jam and all, we were very lucky managed to come right on time. The Art performances for public was about to start when we arrived so we decided to just went straight to their ticket counter.

That's my brother in the pict below, buying the tickets for all of us.

The Entry ticket prices are:

Idr. 50.000/person for domestic tourist, Idr. 80.000 /person for international tourist. They have special tariff for students, Idr 35.000/person also note the show for the students starts from 8am to 2pm, as for public like us, the show starts everyday for 2hours, from 3.30am to 5.30pm.

The ticket you paid have included a brochure in which you can read the synopsis of Saung Angklung Udjo's history and background, their synopsis of their art performances and the musical instruments they are using also several songs that you will learn together with Angklung later on the show. Not only that, you'll also get a souvenir! an Angklung necklace which also can be used as pin once you take off the string and last but not least, a welcome drink. That day when we come, they had 3 options: hot coffee- perfect for the rainy season we were in, Es Lilin, a Sundanese little tubes of flavored ice in plastic that my 4yo niece ofc loved and mineral water which I happily chose.

While waiting the Art performances begin and others visitors come, ofc I profited the time to took some more pictures inside. Sorry for the picts quality though, my other cam was low bat.

Anyway, this pict below is the stage where all the arts performances were held.

On the stage you can see some of the traditional instruments they will use for the performance were already set.

Besides Angklung Padaeng, you can see as well other West Java traditional musical instruments such as Gendang, Calung, Arumba which was invented in 1970 and stands for A for Alunan/Strain, Rum for Rumpun/Tribes and Ba for Bambu/Bamboo, this West Java unique traditional instrument made from black bamboo is also called Bamboo Strains in English, some of modern instruments.

Below is where the domestic and international tourists will sit, watch and enjoy the art performances of SAU.

You can book via phone or online reservation for the seat or just come and but the ticket directly like we did.

Well, we just glad we got the seats! Me and my fam sat on the second row taking our selfie picts when we had a chance before the show.

Yup that's me, my only sister, my baby angel first niece and my brother in law. My youngest brother was so kind taking our pict again and again hehehe.

And the show begun!

With a warm friendly opening hosted by a pretty Sundanese lady wearing beautiful modern kebaya explaining Angklung, Saung Angklung Udjo,what we were about to enjoy and learn. Me and my fam was definitely so excited!

Wayang Golek demonstration.

As explained by the host earlier, the art performances started with a short version of Wayang Golek demonstration or the Puppet show with traditional music as its background.

Why the short version you asked? coz the original version of Wayang Golek will take at least 7 hours! O.o
But the lady host explained, the bottom line is same like as when you watched the original version and yes me and my fam did enjoyed it.

When you ask these three-dimentional wooden puppets a.k.a Wayang Golek to Sundanese peoples, Cepot will immediately comes to their mind first.

Cepot is the famous character of Sudanese Pupet or Wayang Golek in local. Cepot is witty, funny and smart and above is the pict I took for your better view when they played the Wayang Golek. Cepot is the one in the middle with his famouse red face! :O

After the wayang golek demonstration, the show continued with some of Sundanese traditional dances like Tari Kukudaan or Kukudaan dance, Mask dance or Tari Topeng and other dance I forgot the names haha

What makes Sundanese dances different from more than 3000 other Indonesian original dances besides their costumes ofc? Thats a good question that needs a lot of googling with my googeling eyes LOL seriously, coz there are more than 700 ethnic groups in Indonesia and each has their own dance, reflecting the country's diversity of ethnicities and cultures

However, its historical, tradition and genre are several aspects that can divide the dances of Indonesia.

In its tradition, Indonesian dances can be divided into two types; traditional dance and contemporary dance. According to its patrons, it can be divided into two genres; court dance and folk dance. In historical aspect it can be divided into three eras; the prehistoric-tribal era, the Hindu-Buddhist era and the era of Islam.

As Social conduct and entertainment among Sundanese people of West Java Indonesia, Sundanese dances is a dance tradition that is a part of ritual, artistic expression with with flowing movements in-sync with the beat of Kendang accompanied with Gamelan Degung music ensemble. Sundanese dance is usually cheerful, dynamic and expressive.

I am impressed with their Angklung orchestra covering "Heal the world" from Michael Jackson at the end of their Art performances. I think the chose they right song and just love those exotic sounds of this bamboo made instruments.

On their Angklung Orchestra , they also use Angklung Toel

Angklung Toel is a new innovation from Saung Angklung Udjo. Angklung was created in 2008 by Yayan Udjo, one of Udjo’s son.

Toel is a Sundanese word means ‘poke’ so the Angklung's name made me a bit giggled but am not surprise, Sundanese peoples are knows as pretty laid back type of people, creative, artistic and for their humor taste and this new musical instrument invention named showed it.

So what special about Angklung toel technology? Normally Angklung should be played by several or a group of peoples but Angklung toel functions similar to a piano and can be played all together by one person. That's how far I can explain, you should go to SAU and ask about it for better explanations. :)

After the whole SAU art performances finished, it was time for us to learn to play Angklung. YIPPIE

Since we were all gonna play simple song together using Angklung, buch of kids wearing traditional costumes gave each of us an Angklung. Big Angklung for adults and mini Angklung for kids.

They made the angklung very easy to understand for beginner like us. Each angklung has already signed with different numbers that indicate its tone so we just follow the instructions and paid attention to the teacher when to shake our angklung according to the number he instructed with his hand to play the song together.

My niece also tried to learn play her angklung, it was her first experience but she was a bit moody in the middle of the show. She refused to use her mini angklung and use mine instead. :)

The angklung lesson wasn't hard at all. It was really FUN and we all managed to play simple songs with angklung together with no rehearsal in advance.

but we didn't know that we played that's much tones until the teacher showed it us after we finished play those songs with our Angklung! O.o that was funny and everyone laughed.

Games and Dances.

After successfully played songs with angklung, it was time to celebrate with dance and games.

After the show finished, I took some snaps again at their natural traditional theme toilet.
How I like the bilik doors there! Bilik is very rare now these days... Bilik is Indonesian name for bamboo handy craft can prepare as plafond or wall design.

We also checked the souvenirs at SAU souvenirs store before we were leaving.

`Iket`.

Above is picture of Mang Udjo wearing`Iket` and there's a reason why I snapped and highlight it.

`Iket` or fabric head coverings is part of the everyday men clothes on the island of Java, until around the beginning of the year 1900 and do you know to continue and preserve that tradition- initiated by the new Bandung's Major Mr. Ridwan Kamil, every Wednesday in Bandung is now called `Iket` Day so in any day, especially on every Wednesday in Bandung, you'll see Bandung peoples proudly wearing `Iket`to show their identity as Sundanese also to express their love to Sundanese culture.

Too bad we didn't had the time to see their angklung workshop to see the angklung making, my niece was starving so we had to went rush find a resto for her also for all of us as it was almost dinner time too so that was it for now.

HOW TO ACT INDONESIAN by SACHA STEVENSON

Sacha Stevenson shared her tips on how to act Indonesian on you tube. Sacha is from Canada who loves Indonesia and lives in Indo since 2001.

Some of Indonesians viewers might not agree, not totally agree or totally disagree with how she portrayed Indonesian with its stereotypes on her videos while some others able to see her opinion and her personal observation as an expatriate in Indo for 12 years and creativity in a positive way instead the opposite. I myself respect her freedom of speech etc, so just chillax and enjoy. :)

I've watched all her videos and I personally think they are quite entertaining and made me laugh. She is more Indonesian than Indonesian lols. I also impressed with how fluent her Betawi accent is, also her knowledge about other locals languages spoken in Indonesia including Sundanese besides ofc, her Bahasa.

Almost all the vids were made in English subtitle so if you are not familiar with Bahasa [Indonesian National Language] you wont find difficulties to understand her videos and oh if you keep hearing Sacha say the word "Bule" and wondering what that means, Bule [pronounced [ˈbule]] is Indonesian words that just means white people. It is by no means derogative term. People who thinks it is an insult clearly don't know what they are talking about.

You know, talk about You tube,

Who doesn't know this video-sharing website. The only website on the internet today that allows billions of people to discover, watch and share originally-created videos.
Many have use the benefits of You tube and one of them is as a powerful media to promoting ideas, talents and creativities. These videos could be a gate for anyone who wants to enter entertainment world and so in Indonesia.

Indi and new musician who started their career from locals cafes to radios like Raisa or Cakra Khan for instance, their talents might stay hidden and could not goes nationally as today or internationally in the near future if those kind peoples who discover and appreciate their music didn't uploaded them on You Tube on their early career as I myself couldn't find Carka's official vid when I wrote about him back then here so there's a question that does tickles me as I watched Sacha's vids today and my question izzzzz....,while these "How to act like Indonesian" video series is getting attention from the you tube viewers, will the world-or Indonesia in particularly, see Sacha Stevenson as another "You tube star" in Indonesia Entertainment Industry soon? hm :)

Well, I personally think she is smart, funny, entertaining, CAN SING, plus she speaks Indonesian fluently. So lets see..um, Trans TV for a start maybe? :D

MUJIGAE [ MUJIGAE CiWALK ]- Bibimbap and Casual Korean Food Resto in Bandung.

So after another long hiatus on my blog, am back with another food/resto review from my culinary trip in my town, Bandung.:P

In this post I will talk about my experience with Korea Cuisines. YAY

As we're all know, the popularity of South Korean culture or well known as Korean Wave in most part of the world begins in the late 90s; from K pop, K dramas, language, technology including smartphone, automobile, animated comic, film to cuisine BUT even ten years after and with the Korea fever in Indonesia sweeping all over the country till today, Mujigae-a new thematic resto in Bandung, seemed still not too late responding this Korea trend and gets their own popularity among the Korea fans in town in less than a year after their first launched in Avril 10th, 2013.

well, I have confession to make in this post though! see, I am that view peps in the country who is not so much into the Korea thingies except maybe their technology and ofc their cuisine. Ha Ha
I said technology mainly because I use gadgets in my daily life and who doesn't know the Korea technology which impressed the world and the fact that I like having exotic experiences tasting all type of different foods from any part of the world whenever possible , ofc made Korea cuisines on my long wish list.

So without further due, shall we just go to this Korea resto that recently seems to be vague among the locals in the city.

Mujigae or better known by locals as Mujigae Ciwalk is a Bibimbap and Casual Korean Food Resto.

This young targeted resto with digital / Hi tech concept is located inside the Cihampelas Walk Mall [Ciwalk] at Cihampelas Young Street, where else but in the center of culinary biz in Indo, Bandung.

I might not the first who ever come to this resto after being lauched 8 months ago, but this resto has indeed become one of my fav now and when I fav something, I always have the urge to make my own review and share it otherwise my head will explode. :D :P

but seriously guys, I love taking my family and my friends here and would like to recommended this resto to anyone who found or visit my blog too.

As said earlier, Mujigae is a resto with digital concept- which I think one of their selling points, and you do will see and feel this Hi-Tech touch and ambiance right even before you enter the resto.

In the main entrance, you will see a virtual eoni which literally means elder sister of female. These real size hologram pretty looking Korea ladies played through a huge projector like shown in the picture above promoting the resto. I personally liked the one that wearing Hanbok- the Korean traditional costume which missed to snapped, but if watching those virtual eonis annoys you, worries not as their waiters will soon greet you by saying those welcoming lines in Korean; "Annyeong Haseyo" which is a formal way to say "Hello" or "Nice to meet you" and its common greeting used in Korea to people you just meet or to older peoples and also, "Oso Oseyo" which means "Welcome" in English and I usually will just stood there-literally, freeze myself for a sec and show my best smile as I don't know any in Korean language how to reply their friendly greetings! LOLS.

Anyways, the word of Mujigae itself means "Rainbow" in English and once you enter the resto you can see they use many different pretty colors for their interior just like the rainbow.

I think this two floors resto size is small to medium but they work around it by placing a wall size mirror which is a smart way to gives bigger size effect to the resto rooms.

Below is at the second floor picture.

On each table they installed an iPad as you can see on the picture above and below.
These iPads function is to see their menus and you can also order your foods directly from it. Once you are done, you can check your bill with it too.

Btw, that's my 2.5yo second niece Aurelia in the pict below while waiting for the foods she ordered. We called her Cici Au actually, and yes her auntie had to lock her baby pict, sorry!

You wont need to wait too long for the foods but while waiting or enjoying your foods, you might want to listen to Korea songs or watch Korea movies? you can find list of Korea music vid or movies on these iPads which you can request and then you can watch later on one of those hanging huge infocus framed projectors on their walls.

Or do you like those Korea peps cute style on their pictures? well in this resto you have a change to make your own korean style pict version. Simply take pictures with the iPad on your table and edit them anyway you want, like my 3.5yo niece- Salma, did.

You can share the picts with the rest of people in the room through those projectors but if that's not enough, you can also log in to your Twitter or Facebook and share the picts through the iPad or do you want to keep the picture for yourself? no worries, you can always directly email the pict to your email with the iPad.

If you need a waiter, you can call them and they will take or confirm your orders with their iPods that connects to the iPads on your table.

After several visits, I must say Mujigae serves healthy foods and drinks yet with affordable prices.

Foods were finally arrived. I liked all their foods, but I think the best from their menus is their drinks. I love love love their drinks A LOT! Should I say it again? and they are so addictive!!!

I liked their platings and how they served the food too. I've took some shots and here they are:

Bimbimbap.

You cant come to Mujigae without order their Bibimbaps.

Bibimbap is a popular dish in Korea, literally means Mix rice. With its healthy foods proportion; 40% rice, 40% veggies and 20% meat makes the dish also a part of Korean balance life style.

How do think most Koreans gets their slim figures hein? :)

Spicy Dolsot bibimbap & Korean fried chicken IDR 38.182

They have many version of Bibimaps on their menu list which comes with different toppings and different meats and veggies. Since I am spicy foods lover, I ordered Spicy Dolsot bibimbap & Korean fried chicken .

The Fried chicken wasn't spicy at all but the gochujang [the red sauce] IS. The KFC [Korean Fried Chicken] is actually sweet. chewy and yummmy. I liked the Kimchi too although I think they should add more Kimchi to its portion heheh.

How to eat Bibimbap correctly is by mixing them all together. Add the gochijang into the hotstone bowl and mix all together while your bibimbap is still hot like I did.
The egg needs to be half cook like so- locals here called telor ceplok btw, so that the egg will blend easily with the rise, the meat and the veggies when you mix them together with the sauce. You can add the Kimchi also to rich the flavor if you like and get that crunchy savory sensasion on your bibimbap or just eat it separately.

Oh I must warn you, the gochiang is quite spicy so you might not want to use all the sauce and I dunno the green veggie names but it tasted verrrry good. Love it!

Dolsot Bibimbap and fried Oden Mix IDR 37.237

I also like to recommend the Dolsot Bibimbap and fried Oden Mix.

The fried oden actualy tastes so so in my opinion, same like those they serves in Hokben- the Japanese Resto but my brother in law likes it verrry much and I ordered it anyways coz I think its not bad to have something chewy as your side dish. :P

Ramyun.

Are you also noodle fans like me? then try Ramyun if you do. Its the Korean noodle.

Classic spicy Ramyun with fried Oden Mix IDR 35.455

I've tried their classic spicy ramyun and love it and again, I ordered the food with Korean Fried Oden. Haha.

These korean noodles might not look pretty but they are actually yummy. The noodles and the broth are so tasty. Nom nom.

Fried Rice.

What I fav most from Mujigae menus besides their bibimaps is their Korean Fried Rice.

My second niece, Cici Au was busy eating AND playing her Cheese Kimchi Fried Rice with Korean Fried Chicken she ordered.

You know, I never have kids-not yet :P, but I have these two little nieces and one nephew and they are always suprise me everytime I meet and play with them and I just come to understand that even babies today are already have their own head and they use it too! hahahaha.

She didnt even let me snap her food either lols. Look how blur the pict I tried to snap below.

The fried rice btw, was REALLY yummy. Yep, after a lil bit fighting with this lil monster, I managed to taste her fried rice. :P

Anyways, this fried rice to me, tasted like nasi goreng kambing [Lamb fried Rice] which I also fav. Oh I planned to share my Lamb Fried rice recipe on my next post btw, stay tune? :)

Bulgogi.

Last one dish I also tried are those dishes in packages, called Bulgogi.

Bulgogi itself is the most popular variety of Korea barbeque.

They have special bulgogi [only beef so you will have to order everything else separately] but also bulgogy packages.

In Bulgogi package I ordered, I got Rice, Japche [fried rice vermicelli], Kimchi and Korean fried Chicken and ofc beef, all in one package.

Korean beef known for its quality and the beef in this bulgogi package was very tender means they know how to cook it but in my opinion the beef and the Japche tasted just so so.

Drinks.

Now go to my favorite part of their menu, the drinks! .

Red Velvet sea salt IDR 19.091

Above is my number one fav from the resto, called Red velvet sea salt. It made from beetroot. Its fresh, savoury and healthy.

Some might not really like the taste but this red vevet sea salt is my winner. My sister loves it too.

Beetroot has amazing health benefits. The dark purple skin and pink/purlple flesh vegetable root has good nutritient content, it protects your heart, bones and body, it also wellknown as body detoxifier. I should post about later maybe because not only I just love the color but also it is also classifies as super food.

Sea salt also good for health. I am glad that I can find sea salt easily at my place. Due to its taste, texture and how it processed, I am much prefer to use sea salt than table salt. I have browsed a lot about sea salt since last year actually just not have a change to write what I found and share it here yet but I will one day, soon I hope!

Back to my fav drinks at Mujigae,

In the picture above; Red Velvet Sea Salt on the left, the green one on the right is Green Tea Sea Salt, Matcha Avocado in the middle and Lemon sea salt on the image below.

Being not a huge fan of coffee, I found the Matcha Avocado is tidak enak. Hahahaha! Tidak enak means not yummy in English.
I like Avocado and avocado juice actually and while some of you outside Java or Indo not so familiar with Avocado juice, here in Bandung its one the iconic juice of the city BUT mixing avocado with mocca is just WRONG, imo .:D

On the other side, I just looove love love these trio Red Velvet Sea Salt, Green Tea Sea Salt and The Lemon Sea Salt. I can not not having them everytime I come to this resto. You can say I am addicted to these drinks! and I liked how they serves it in big glass like that. Its so nice to look at and I just love big portion lols.

Lomon Sea Salt IDR 19.091

That was me and my second nice on the race pulling up the bottle. She thought it was a toy. See how tight she hold the bottle? Lols I just love teasing her and make her screaming. #Evilgrind

And thats how you drink it, you'll need to pull the bottle up and let all the juice out and then mix it well with the milk cream before you drink it. This lemon sea salt taste so refresing.

Another refreshing drink I like to recommend is ...

Manggo yakult fizz IDR 19.091

Manggo yakult fizz and also Korean Lemonade which failed to be snapped thanks to my angel Cici Au who accidentaly fell it to the floor and also made her white skirt all wet with the drink. :)

Love spending time with my fam.

Me always enjoyed my visits and the foods at Mujigae and so is my fam but like I said earlier, Mujigae is young targeted market and based on my experiences with my big fam, its not kids friendly although they provide baby chair, balls to play with but with gadgets on every table- unless you can tame your kids, you will really have to watch them to make sure they wont break anything. I know I come there with my nieces and nephew once or twice but that's usually because we were back from the game center they like, which not far from the resto or else place near the mall but each time was a challenge. :D :P

So thats my review for Mujigae.

Their foods are excellent but I personally like their drinks better! I like the resto concept too.

I have one complain though as on my visits several times to Mujigae, for some technical reasons, I didn't get the bill recites- their cashier machine was broken or system error or something like that, so I was kinda forced to pay what ever amount they told me.

Bill recite prob not that important for some but as someone who is also in service and selling biz, I think it is a rule and an ethic to make sure all costumers get their bill recite on each transaction to make the trade fair and its just ironic for a resto with hi-tech concept they applied had to have prob with their systems and not fix them right away.

Anyway, overall I always had good time at Mujigae. Just hope I wont need to get the same experience with the bill things later on my next visits.

Please note also that- like my other reviews, no body pay me to do this so you can say it is independent review but also subjective as it is based on my personal experiences but hope this post is informative enough for those food lovers who needs reference for their culinary trip destination.

Time for me and my three lill monsters, Salma and Cici Au also Suju Farrel- my 1.5yo nephew, say bye bye roarr roarrrr. :D

THE SUGARUSH BANDUNG, when eats meet sweets.

Hey there! :)

I come back again with another post about food. Haha. This post will be about my another personal non sponsored food/place review to be exact.

Well what can I say, food and drink involve all five of the human senses so I guess maybe that's why I always enjoy culinary trip and I think I am lucky coz I live in Bandung, the Java's culinary capital.

Like Fashion biz, culinary biz in Bandung is tight but even the competition level is high, there's always new comer in Bandung culinary scene. Some survive, some collapse but you can always find winners eventually.

This post will discuss about the not so newbies now, SUGARUSH. Located at jalan Braga or Braga Street in English, this resto/cafe with their red trademark is easy to spot. Launched in 2012, The Sugarush Bandung has quickly become known for its sweets and cakes.

A huge rainbow birthday cake from my brother on the same year was my my first ever experience of sweets from Sugarush-It said that It was Sugarush who first make Rainbow cake popular in town.

Sadly I forgot to take pic of my yummy colorful bday cake. Cant blame me, my brother surprise me with it in the middle of the night when I was sleeping!

Talk about sweet, I tend to crave for sweets during the month of Ramadan- I am on my third weeks of Ramadan fasting now, but am not the only one coz serving sweets and pastries for iftar has become a tradition for muslims around the world.

After fasting from sundown to sunup, immediately break the fast with light foods first than jump to the heavy foods is very recommended in Qur'an as its good for health and its actually one of Iftar etiquettes.

I always prefer to cook everything myself but am not always have the time. I am also not so good with cooking nor baking! haha and so when my brother was in Bandung on the first week of Ramadan, we decided to have bukbar together and Sugarush seemed our perfect choice.

sorry for my image qualities, had to turn off my cam's blitz to avoid hurting other costumers.

BukBar btw, is stands for BUKa BAReng, its Indonesian words, loosely translate to break fasting together.

During Ramadan, people here would have bukbar with their family, friends, their loves one or even with the unfortunates. Its another tradition in the month of Ramadan that very popular. Bukbar can be held at home, resto or cafe or other special places.

Bukbar in Bandung is always more fun and better tho. Why you asked? coz you have many options! just saying'. :)

Back to the op Sugarush.

Not just their various sweets, I also like their resto. Its quite, not so big but its clean and they didn't play music when I came there which is good coz who need loud music when you eating. Better just take advantage their wi-fi instead and choose your own music on your gadget. :D

From the interior you can see its cater more to younger crowd than family.

Below is the view from our seat.

The waiters are pretty warm and friendly, the prices are average. I like most of their foods. The speed of service is reasonable, you don't have to wait too long for the foods you order.

So I decided to ordered Churros and some macarons to start my iftar. Nom nom nom.

Who said you cant find this jewel of French pastries in Bandung? just go to Sugarush in Paris van Java. Hehehe.

These round tempting to the eye sweet maringue -like cookie with melow colors is probably the best pastry in the world. Those with food sensitivities and/or allergies can eat it coz its primarily made of made almond flour, sugar and egg whites makes macaron pronounced mɑːkɑːrɔːn gluten free. Well, the original macaron should.

Unlike in the US, macaron is a star in Europe and in French in particular. I think this cookie which actually born in Italy, will soon also became a new fad in Bandung.

Even so, am not so crazy with macaron. Having diabetic gen runs in the family, I always feel oblige to watch my sugar intake to avoid getting attacked by this disease one day or when am old #nockonwood! Well, once in while its ok tho, am not diabetic anyway. Sugarush's macaroon tastes so so in my opinion.

Anyways, here's a bit of history.

The Macaron cookie was born in Italy, introduced by the chef of Catherine de Medicis in 1533 at the time of her marriage to the Duc d'Orleans who became king of France in 1547 as Henry II.

The term "macaron" has the same origin as that the word "macaroni"- both mean "fine dough". The first Macarons were simple cookies, made of almond powder, sugar and egg whites.

Many towns throughout France have their own prized tale surrounding this delicacy. In Nancy, the granddaughter of Catherine de Medici was supposedly saved from starvation by eating Macarons. In Saint-Jean-de-Luz, the macaron of Chef Adam regaled Louis XIV and Marie-Therese at their wedding celebration in 1660.

Only at the beginning of the 20th century did the Macaron become a "double-decker" affair. Pierre Desfontaines, the grandson of Louis Ernest Laduree (Laduree pastry and salon de the, rue Royale in Paris) had the idea to fill them with a "chocolate panache" and to stick them together.

Since then, French Macaron cookies have been nationally acclaimed in France and remain the best-selling cookie in pastry retail stores.

Churros

Unlike the challenging to make macaron, this Spanish dougnuts is easy to make and Sugarush's churros is yummy! I liked their cheese yogurt dipping sauce I choose too.

This fried-dough cylindrical and yellowy-orangey pastry is so addicting, verrry danger! I could get fat with this! Serve it on breakfast or just as your snacks. Its crispy and delicious, I looove the flavor. Yummmmm!!!

My only complain at Sugarush was, I need more sauce to dipped with those Churros pls.

Sop Buntut.

Sugarush also serves Indonesian cuisines and our next food we ordered was Sup buntut, The traditional Indonesian Oxtail soup.

Made from beef tail. Some of you might say, "Eeewww!" and refuse to eat it. Hahaha! Well, I was when my late mom first cooked it at home, both of my parents liked this soup very much. Not just my parents I guess, coz Sop Buntut is a popular dish in Indonesia, prob second to Soto.

There's many Oxtail soup versions in Asia but the flavor and richness of Indonesia oxtail soup makes it different and they portrays the charm of Indonesia.

Tails served in soup or tails grilled after they are simmered - and soup base served on the side are Indonesian oxtail soup versions, served with steamed rice and sambal.

The soup is clear but rich of beef broth with chopped of potatoes, green beans and carrots.

Sugarush oxtail soup tastes good. I could give 7.5 points out of 10.
I liked how they served them, they looks appetizing. I liked the soup very very much, it yummmy but not the sambal. Oh that green thing quickly killed the soup flavor when I added it.

The oxtails are well grilled , they are tender enough but- again, its a little bit too sweet for my taste bud.

My brother tho said, the grilled oxtail tasted fine. Viola, I guess its all depends on your taste.

The fun part was when cleaning the bones. Yea, clean the bones like its finger-food. I am just glad I had enough soup to neutralize the too sweet oxtails on my tongue. Also I am glad they served it with Emping melinjo instead of kerupuk.

Emping melinjo or gnetum gnemon chips in English is my fav. I like the slightly bitter taste of it. This a bite-size crunchy chip is made from belinjo nuts. Here, people also sell melinjo balado or spicy caramel melinjo chips, which is a yummy snacks.

There's many foods, sweets and drinks you can choose at Sugarush with price range from Idr 6000 to just idr 50.000 per portion.

Am not a big eater. I cant and dont like eating too much in one time either BUT you can go there and check them out yourself. They have all kind of pasta too which I also didn't order coz am just bored with any kinda of pasta. Seriously bored. Haha

MY INDONESIAN RISSOLE RECIPE.

Heloooow averyone! How is your weekend? Mine is awesomaticsuperbetic.

You know what? I am soooo in my cooking mood this week.
I've tried easy recipes of the foods I can make AND, I spent the whole Monday morning today, making one of my favorite snacks: Risoles, as shown in the pic. ᕙ(`▽´)ᕗ

There's many different versions of Rissoles from all over the world. In Indonesia its a very popular appetizer. They sell it in the market, bakery or even along the street. Here, local call it Risoles-pronounced 'riss-ol-less. You might find it similar with spring rolls but the taste and how to make it is a little bit different. The name of Risoles is borrowed over from the traditional Portugues, rissóis but unlike Brazil risoles, Indonesian risoles have a crepe-like wrapper that you fill and roll up, and then deep fry.

Anyways, I also have my own Risoles recipe version and in this post, I will share the recipe and show you the step by step how I cooked it. Its yummy, trust me! (✿◠‿◠)

First, lets make the Wrapper Batter.

For the wrapper batter, I use:

250 grams of medium wheat flour

1 egg

1 mug of milk

1 tea spoon of salt.

Mix all the ingredients together and gradually add the milk. Whisk them to make smooth texture.

My wrapper batter was a bit too thick so I decided to add a bit of water into it.

The Second steps is, cook the wrappers.

You can heat up a nonstick pan over medium-high heat to cook the wrappers or you can simply use a special crepe pan like I did.

My wrapper batter is enough to make about 15 wrappers.

Set them aside and go to the next steps

Next step is, make the filling!

The Risoles filling à la Dita are:

A weizen glass of Milk

100 g Carrots, cut into small cubes

100 g Potatoes, cut into small cubes

100 g Green Beans, chopped

50 g Corned Beef

50 g Cheddar cheese, grated or cute into cubes

50g Spring onion

1 ts Garlic Powder

1 ts Pepper

1 ts Salt

Cook all the ingredients in medium heat and as you cook, also add:

1 1/2 ts margarine

1/2 ts of beef bouillon powder

Mix them well for few minutes, then add:

1 egg

2 tablespoon of flour to make the filling ticker

Continue cooking until they are tender.

The Risoles filling à la Dita result. (>‿◠)✌

Fun Part: Make the Risoles!

Take one Risoles's wrapper and then add the filling in the bottom.

I use 1 table spoon for each.

Fold the wrapper anyway you like lol, like a bos. Mine are triangle and the traditional roll out.

I liked the triangle shape but man, that was hard!

Anyways, repeat until all the wrappers are finished.

Dipping the Risoles.

For the Risoles coat, I use:

2 egg whites [beaten]

125 g bread crumbs

Dip the rissoles into beaten egg then roll them onto the bread crumbs.

After about an hour in the kitchen, my roll out and triangle Risoles in different sizes are done.

Put them on the fridge and wait about 30 minutes so you wont having trouble keeping the Risoles together.

In the meanwhile, I use that 30 minutes waiting to clean all those mess in my kitchen.:P

Serve the Risoles.

After 30 minutes on the fridge, fry the risoles until they are golden brown.

Serve the Risoles with spicy Tomato Mayo and grated cheddar cheese like I did or if you like it really spicy, you can always serves it with whole fresh chillies. Both are YUM

Anyways, Since I cant eat all the resoles all by myself- I am home alone this weekend, so I decided to rest the uncooked ones in the fridge and cook them tomorrow.

You can keep the uncooked Risoles and they stay fresh on the fridge for about two days max.

MUSIC, FOODS, LAUGH AND FUN at Dago Car Free Day, BANDUNG!

What a long hiatus on my blog and look at my Alexa rank, it stooped showing data.Yay.

Doesn't worry me much tho coz I know how it works but I do need to get done those drafts and post 'em.:P Just glad I'm finally got the mood and especially time to write again and so I manage to post this one today.

As mentioned on the tittle above, this post will talk about music, foods, laugh and fun at this popular weekly event in my town, Bandung. It is named Dago Car Free Day because the event I am going to talk about is held at Dago area or Djuanda Street which is one of the main street and also one of the hangout hotspot in town.

See that image above? Thats a funny game I found at the event called Raja Gempol game, well I think- that's what it said on the yellow board heheh.

With only IDR 3.000 or equal with 1RM- and thats not even $1btw, you can throw wet sponges those guys from the game peps who will happily volunteer being tortured by you on that yellow board to get some money which I think kinda witty.

I dunno what they do with the money they got, prob just for fun and worries not, I don't see anyone gets injured and these funny guys are actually college students.

Yup, you can easily found students in Bandung coz besides shopping, culinary and holiday destination, Bandung is also well known for their Uni and schools. Many of the best Uni and School in Indonesia are located in Bandung and you can find many students study here from all over the country, as well as some exchange students from abroad.

Was forced to create one when I tried to post the vid from my mob but then- thanks to my clumsiness, when I tried to create the account, my blog got blocked for about 3 weeks from 18th Feb 2013 to 8th March 2013 and was risque to be deleted forever. Glad it all passed with helps of a good friend who works at Google and ofc the Google team et voilà: my own you tube channel. Ahem.

Why the vid shaky you asked? that's because I forgot to turn on the stabilizer on my cam setting muahahaha, silly me! I've tried to edit the vid and fixed it with You Tube stabilizer tool but it doesn't help much-apparently.:P but that was the first time I ever uploaded a vid on the site. Next vid should be better, until then, bear with me? :D

This one on the vid below is a funny too but you have to understand Bahasa, plus know Bandung very well to understand the funny part of the lyric, sorry!

In Dago Car Free Day, you can find what Bandung peoples likes, creativity and niche.

Bandung people or Sundanese in general, are pretty relax, friendly and creative. They like music, laugh, foods, fashion, creating things and they are also always enjoy entertain others, have fun and joke around even with stranger and you can spot that easily here too.

Bandung peoples are fond of music. Many famous talented musicians, singers, bands in the country are from this city. But not just music, many also into instruments. Like these students of music major from one of the Uni in town. Ugh, I wish I could play violin!

Not just play instruments, you can do anything fun you want at Dago Car Free Day. Like this art performances for instance.

or promoting your comunity,

Spend time time and have fun with friends or peoples who share the same niche.

Since it is car free day so bike and your feet are the only vehicle that allowed to use during the event. If you don't bring your bike then rent a bike for IDR 3000 per hours and there many type of bikes you can choose; Ontel, folding bike, pixie, etc.

I found this handmade wooden bike pretty cool btw.. but its someone's bike, not for rent.

Or maybe you want to get a horse or rent a wagon instead?

Or just walk your dog like this pretty girl. Her Siberian husky has pale blue gorgeous eyes, too bad I missed to snap it. Haha.

Wish my eyes have its own cam coz me like to records and snap things I found interesting. Like this traditional treat that almost vanish and rarely found these days called Tutut which local language for water snail.

In west Java, locals prefer to cook Tutut in a thin curry with strong galangal and turmeric seasoning.

Similar to Tutut is Escargot or Land snail. I like escargot especially crunchy fried one but unlike escargot, Tutut is smaller like shown in the pic .

Water snails have this strong metallic and earthy taste, very much like escargot, only that with a chewy and jerky texture unlike the soft escargot; more like shellfish only much tougher.

As for the taste itself, it contains only low level of savoriness and lacked strong flavor, hence heavy seasoning is almost always a necessity.

Above is the small portion of Tutut I bought. Only cost Idr.3.000- thought its very cheap for food with lots of proteins.

It was the first time I ever ate water snail and was quite challenging pulling the snail out and kinda a bit "ribet" as locals would say or in other word a lot of efforts coz you have to suck it hard to get the meat out even with that little stick.

Btw, I wish they use leave instead the foam plate. Styrofoam is not biodegradable. Never never heating food in microwave using it, its danger for your health. Yes, I did ate the food feeling guilty to myself. Owell.

Another "ribet" street food I bought is this sosis swirled potato chip. Don't you like potato chip? I do. :)

Unlike the tutut seller -which is the only seller I found at the Dago car free day area, the spiral potato with huge sausage seller are everywhere and so with the grilled sausage seller. I don't get it. But those sausages are halal coz all made from beef and not pork.

I liked watching these sellers cook those potatos. Wish I can cook like that at home.

They should give more than one potato for each. Agree?

Kids likes it too tho. Yea so I like kid's foods. :D

I like the free yogurt porridge from my brother's friend stall. Anything free is always fine by me. Muahahaha!

I almost forgot, I got an email couple months ago from this guy who call me an au pair for my habit promoting and review things for free on my blog. Ouchie. :D I had to laugh at his ‘sinister looking calmness’ phrase. Well, first, I must say I am impressed how he have spent his time writing an email just to telling me that but you know, my blog is a monarch and am the Queen so um, this Queen will do whatever she please on her blog.

Anyways, Au pair is a job too and I found nothing is wrong with it so top hat to all au pair out there and to you know who you are and those who might concern, I got little reminder from Lana for ya. :)

Never allows negative peps rent a room on you head, kick them out and raise the rent. Just sayin' . ❤

I love being kind but lets go back to the Op, shall we?

Car Free Day is not only held in Bandung but in every big cities in Indo, even small cities now following it in response to world wide car free day movement, global warming awareness besides the environment awareness programs of the city govt.

With 1.2 millions vehicle being used in Bandung- 400.000 cars plus 800.000 and this numbers are not yet even include those vehicles that comes from several cities around Bandung cities, this capital of West Java does need to reduce their air pollution at least for several hours in a week.

Was held for the first time in 9 May 2010 Bandung. This weekly event is continue held every Sunday morning from 7am to 10am till today.

So if you want to meet locals, enjoy foods, some music and fun with your family or friends , enjoying the fresh air on Sunday morning together while helping Bandung get its fresh air again then then why not join it.

And you never know who you will meet, the current Governor of West Java Province.

I personally think Dago Car Free Day is quite crowd now but I had fun always. I went there my brother, my family and my friends and have some fun quality time with them.

Even my first niece and her bear, Monie enjoyed it. Oh yea she is.. She lives in other town with his mommy -my sister, and her dad, miss my angel so muchie btw. ❤❤❤!

It's Saturday, heavy rain outside, composing my blog updates and Lana Del Ray is playing among my other now fav musics.

What comes into your mind when someone says 'hip hop' ? That bling bling, that women, that larger than life persona ! Well, here's a rapper who challenges the stereotypical image of hip hop and talks about matters that matter the most. MC Uneek, from India, brings out a suppressed style of hip hop to life and adds a new flavor to every track that he puts out !

Here's my online interview with my friend, my fav rapper, the one and only: [Harish] MC Uneek.

Me: I always wonder what MC stands for and I know you for a long time. Can you help me solve the mystery? :)

MC Uneek: A master of ceremonies (MC or emcee), is the official host of a staged event or similar performance. An MC usually presents performers, speaks to the audience, and generally keeps the event moving.

Me: Oh, that MC. I thought it something else.:)
I always call you Uneek coz its just sounds right but which do you prefer being called, Harish or Uneek?

MC Uneek: Well, anything is fine. My friends call me Harish and people who dig my music call me Uneek. So, I really can't choose between the two.

Me: So Uneek, from all the music genres, why choose rap? Rap is identical with young gen and you’re young. I also know you’re from Hyderabad, India-I never been there, I wish I have but I’ve browsed a bit about it, it’s one of the largest city in Southern India and according to my source, its a growing metropolitan. Does this somehow influence your music preference?

MC Uneek: Well, from all my experiences with music in the past, I have realized that hip hop is just my thing. I don't consider it as a music genre, instead, I perceive it as a culture. It had this divine element that attracted me and as I grew up as an artist, I've realized that rapping can be instrumental in bringing out positive change among its listeners. Also, I figured out that the content you write in your songs depends on what you grasp and learn from hip hop. I agree that initially, for an amateur listener, rap teaches aggression and extravagant swag but to a more intelligent and hip hop culture-literate listener, the greater good comes out from hiding. And definitely, the place where you live in and the situations among which you grow up in, situations you deal with, influence your taste in music.

Me: In your opinion, how is Rap music in India, in general? How is it develops? I know Rap is from west culture but how people in India respond to this music genre? Is it popular music among the youth like in the West?

MC Uneek: A larger part of the Indian community has noticed hip hop's existence. It is still in a crucial developmental phase and I see positive results down the lane. Largely, hip hop and rap are perceived as ''cool'' by most of the urban youth in India. Also, unfortunately, most of the kids think they will come across as cool if they try and ape hip hop, leaving behind the fundamentals. It is quite popular here now, but for all the wrong reasons.

Me: Is your family musical? What do they think about your music?

MC Uneek: I do not come from a musical background. Though my family isn't music literate, they have been there to support me throughout and admired every bit of art I've produced. It's almost unbelievable how a strong emotional bonding can take a person to unparalleled heights. I am grateful to my family and all my supporters and I am what I am today solely because of them.

Me: Do you have any rapper that influence your music or you learn from? and which musician inspire you the most?

MC Uneek: Yes, I draw my influences from Immortal Technique, Nas, Reks, Pac and Kendrick Lamar. Plus, there a lot of other rappers who teach me constantly through their tracks. I've been largely influenced by the 90's hip hop.

Me: Tell me about your music, how would you describe it? when and how did you started?

MC Uneek: I would like to describe my music as an effort to bring out a positive change in its listeners. My lyrics are mostly based on things that people can relate to. Things, that I think, affect people the most. I started listening to rap when I was 14 years old and I fell in love with this track ''In da Club'' by 50 Cent just because I couldn't get enough of the beat. It has been a colorful journey so far.

Me: I watched your vids right after you launched them, those are great. Did you do all that by yourself? I mean I know you wrote the lyrics but do you also arrange your music ? Do you play instruments?

MC Uneek: Yes, I do the lyric videos all by myself. I taught myself the operations of different software and platforms. Also, I am quite acquainted with the different studio and recording procedures. I play the guitar.

Me: The lyrics are AWSM, I honestly can’t sing them easily but then again am not a rapper hehehe! They’re Just brill and I agreed with those comments on your Fb, you got the rhyme Uneek! How did those words come into your head?

MC Uneek: Thank you Dita ! It's hard to explain that ! I think it's all about constantly improving your vocabulary and knowledge and leave it to the art in you to do the magic.

Me: How did you get inspiration for your songs from?

MC Uneek: I rely on different sources to provide me the inspiration to write and record. Mostly, these sources are the day to day happenings around me.

Me: I see you have a message in every song you wrote but I think its better if I heard them straight from you, Uneek. Tell me what “All that you need”, “Friend” and your latest one "Better Days” are about.

MC Uneek: I wrote 'All That You Need' three years back. It was the first time ever I wrote to a beat. It was all unrestricted lyrical cadence lengths till that point. It basically introduces me to the rap game and also hints at what kind of music listeners can expect from me in the future.
'Friends', obviously, embraces the best people around you and your relationship with them. It also shouts out to the people to co-exist and prioritizes non-violence.
'Better Days' came out when I felt I needed to strike a chord of realization among the urban youth. It basically helps people who are ''carried away'' by certain things, so much so that they unknowingly lead that sort of lifestyle.

Me: I can always visit your You tube channel to enjoy you music online but do you do public perform also where people can enjoy your music live?

MC Uneek: Yeah I do perform regularly in pubs and at various events around the city. I've also started to DJ, recorded three successful gigs so far.

Me: What is your future plan in music industry? How do you see yourself in musical industry in 5 or 10 years?

MC Uneek:: That's an intriguing question. The hip hop industry in India is just shaping up. I intend to take hip hop into the people just like any other Indian movie song. I plan on performing regularly, make music, write songs and also establish a production house and help upcoming talented rappers and hip hop artists in the country.

Me: Are you good in School? How do you see your career in music and education? Are you working on them together on the same time? or what’s on your priority now?

MC Uneek: I am a Computer Science graduate and yes, I've been a good student throughout. I currently work as a systems engineer for a company called Infosys. Work is what I need to do to earn money, music is what sets me free. There are no priorities as such, I'll take things as they come.

Me: If you could write a song in any other music genre, which genre would it be?

MC Uneek: Well, I used to be the vocalist of a rock band in my 12th. So definitely, other than hip hop, I'd like to make a rock song. It's a completely different experience, jamming with musical instruments. Also, I'm a big fan of progressive trance. So I may make a song or two in that genre.

Me: Last question, what do you want to say to people who listen to your music?

MC Uneek: I'd like to thank them for listening to my songs. Much Love ! Your support means a lot !

Happy birthday, BISCUIT!

Not happy birthday to you or to me but to my one of my blogs, BISCUIT!

Yep, exactly this date last year [10-11-2011] Biscuit- one tough cookie, was launched.

Dang, look at the date! did you see what I see? I just realized that when I typing this! cool hein?! :)

Need to thank to "Anonymous" who posted comment on one of Biscuit's post yesterday, because of him/her I checked all my blog posts and found out that today is Biscuit Ist Anniversary.

If you haven't familiar with my blog Biscuit, Biscuit is collection of jokes,one-line jokes,funny stories, short funny stories, saying images, funny images, funny saying images, cute image, cute funny image, all type of quotes and sayings. Some I cooked myself and the rest, I found across the web.

Its funny actually since the blog was created mainly to store all image saying and joke I found on the net- there was one time when I got so addicted with them and still till now. I kept them on my folder just for fun purpose till one day I realized I got too many of them, waaay too many and though I better put them somewhere else to save the space on my laptop's memory or I'll get a rehab and a blog is the first thing that come on my mind. HAHA.

Call me an artist, I draw attention. At first the blog was a private blog till I decided to make it public and I thats when I named it Biscuit.

Why biscuit? coz I like biscuit. Especially Oreo with the toothpaste cream- just don't eat them too much or you'll be a whoreo.:P And to me, those image sayings, one line jokes etc that I found on the web are like biscuit- "snack" that accompany me while browsing the web.

But this biscuit- I hope, the one tough cookie- a durable and robust cookie and I think I have good reason to be optimistic when I checked my blog status yesterday, Biscuit first year all time pageviews is 1.48.803

For me who started the blog out of fun, the all time pageview on this screenshot I took yesterday like shown below, was like WOW!

Wish I could thanks each one of you who have visited my blog during its first year. Hope you all found something worth to share and make Biscuit as one of your source.

I am not sure if I use the right term here but I'll use it anyway ehehehe; See, I think there's 8 sheets on my blog Biscuit so far which each sheet contains100 blog posts.

I prefer to take the most viewed post from the blog sheet coz its shows how Biscuit got that up and down page view from its first launched.

Traffic is something that any blogger paid attention to most and that works same with me.I lie if I said I don't bother it. My blogs clearly are not a secret and they are on INTERNET.

I have to admit that it does felt very rewarding when you see your traffic goes up to certain level or when you find one of you blog post or your blog link on the first page on Google search result. It sure took a lot of hard work and patience to get into that level but I enjoy the traffic's up and down process. I think its normal and I prefer not to worry too much about it. I just want to enjoy blogging.

CAN YOU SEE IT?

As you saw on one of my audience chart above, Biscuit got more visit from the United State than from Indonesia- where I from.

That can be caused by many factors but as far as I know Indonesians are not so familiar with sharing image saying, funny image, one line joke on social media so I guess they don't browse much. huh?.. It can be shown by the rareness of saying image in Indonesian Language [Bahasa] when you try to search it on the web as well. Well, at least maybe not until recently coz now I can find one or two saying images in Bahasa- on my fb feed for example which ofc shared by Indonesian folks but the quantity still not as many as those made in English version.

I am lucky coz I got many people on my fb from many different countries so I could find saying images translated in French and other language too like Spain etc but most of them are actually the translation from the English version.

But how about Joke? I think many Indonesian likes it. They don't share much on social media either but you can find it on the web with the right keyword.

On the other hand one line joke in Indonesian language started to become very popular now. Those one line joke accounts in Twiiterland indicate it.

Anyway, On my screenshot below is so far, the only post in Indonesian at Biscuit its a very very funny story but you need to understand bahasa and some local terms to understand the funny parts of it.
Wish I could post more of this in the future.

Hello hello hello,

Hows your first week of October everyone? a bit late but we entering the rain season here in Bandung. #dancing!

I've been missing the rain so much. The dry season this year was way way too long. Glad at least now I can enjoy the cooler whether during the day again.

Anyway, I am also feel so relief that today I am finally manage to finish Bandung foods parade part 3 as I promised you and this post will also ends the BANDUNG AUTHENTIC FOODS PARADE post series on my blog.

As you've read on the post title above, in this post we are going to talk about drinks and desserts, not only the authentic one but also the popular one in west Java, particulary in Bandung.

I think many modern drinks and desserts in Bandung which created by Bandung peoples have associated with the city so I need to include them on this post also.

So shall we start now? :)

Bandrek

I want to start it with Bandrek and Yep, above are two big glass of bandrek, one of the famous beverage native to Sundanese of west Java.

Accompany yourself with this hot, sweet, spicy drink just a perfect way to warm up your body at night or on cold and raining days.

Bandrek is easy to make: just boil water with ginger, cinnamon, lemong grass, star anise, cloves, coriander seeds, cardamom pods and Kawung brown Sugar while you grated some young coconut for the garnish.

Must note using brown sugar as sweetening is the main key coz that's how the drink got its brownish typical color and if you replace the brown sugar with white sugar then I don't think you still can call it Bandrek. Haha.

Mind to spend time cooking it or can not find the ingredients? well, no worry. They sell syrup and instant Bandrek now-with different brands of course, and they are available in local Traditional and supermarket too.

Bandrek Abah brand tho prob the best one. I haven't taste it yet actually but the brand have been well known from generation to generation in West Java and its made in Rancabali- Ciwidey.

Simply pour the instant Bandrek's powder into a cup and add hot water, stir it with spoon and serve, as simply as that.

I personally choose to cook it myself tho to get that original taste but the choice is yours.
And did you know? If you have a sore throat, a cold or recovering from the flu, no need those chemical medicines, Bandrek can heal them.

Bajigur

When we mention Bandrek, we can not not mention the Bajigur, another famous native drink.

Bandrek Bajigur are indeed the deadly duo when it comes to beverage native to Sundanese.

Bajigur is easy to make too and its my fav. Made from Coconut milk, brown sugar, ginger, salt and vanilla powder, coffee powder and water. Add pandan leaves to make the drink smell good. Also add bread and sliced of kolang kaling -coconut fruit into it. You can serve it hot or cold with some iced cubes and it still tastes yummy and fresh.

In rural village or at traditional Sundanese restaurants, locals enjoy the drinks with friends or families at a Saung- small eating pavilions near or over the fresh water fish ponds or rice field like shown in the picture above.

Local serves Bandrek or Bajigur with Hui boled (steamed sweet potatoes), kulub cau (steamed banana), Kacang kulub (steamed peanuts), Seupan sampeu (steamed cassava), Kulub Jagong (steamed corn) or other Sundanese traditional snacks. Mmmmm delicious.

For you who could not cook Bajigur at home but curious with how it tastes, I can recommend Bajigur Supratman. It's a Bajigur stall at Jalan Supratman (Supratman street) Bandung. The stall been there for like 45 years already. Imagine that! O.o

Sakoteng

Sakoteng is another body warmer beverage that I fav. Although its actually originally from Central Java but its so popular here in Bandung and has been a part of Bandung beverage since.

Sakoteng is perfect to be served on dinner. Local usually serve it during iftar in the month of Ramadan but no need to wait for Ramadan just to enjoy it as you can make it yourself or if you are in Bandung, you can just find it at Sundanese restos or stall sellers- if you don't have sensitive stomach that is.:)

How to make it? its also easy. You need water, granulate sugar, ginger, pandan leaves, coconut milk and cinnamon. Those floating things you saw on the picture above are skinless peaces of white bread, roasted peanuts, sliced of Coconuts fruits, henna Chinese, also don't forget to sweeten it with condense milk.

Enjoy sakoteng with Surabi, Roti bakar or grilled bread or peanut martabak mmmh... yum! yum!

Bubur Lemu

Bubur Lemu-also well known as Bubur Sumsum, is a delicious rice puding with Kinca sauce. Its perfect for breakfast or as desert.

Made from rice flour, coconut milk and pinch of salt whereas the Kinca sauce made from brown sugar. Its healthy and easy to make.

This rice puding also come in green color by adding juice pandan leave while cooking it. Since I am quite a visual person, I like the green one as to me it looks much attractive and more appetizing.

I also like bubur lemu that served with sliced of Banana, Henna Chinese, biji salak - made from yellow potato sweet like shown in the picture above, Adding coconut milk into the Kinca sauce also makes it even more delicious. Serve it cold in a hot day by adding ice cubes, parfait! :)

Es Goyobod

Es Goyobod or Goyobod Ice is a native drink from Garut- one of region in West Java.

Es Goyobod is another Sundanese version of Es Campur- see the post below.

Wonder what this Sundanese beverage unique name means? Goyood is a Sundanese word for sodden.

I don't know if its true, but some say Goyobod also a word in Dutch with the same meaning? hahah, need to investigate it more or I'll just ask this to my friends from Holland later.

The main ingrediant of Es goyobod is hunkwe. Hunkwe is sliced of pudding made from dough hunkwe flour or Kanji cut. Hunkwe flour made from starch of mung.

But not only a hallmark of dough hunkue, a complete portion of Es Boyobod also consist henna Chinese, square sliced jelly made from tapioca flour , mashed avocado, sliced of jackfruits with brown sugar syrup and chunks of ice cubes on the top, all served in heavy coconut milk.

This Sundanese chewy beverage is much easier to find in Garut than in Bandung. You can buy it in many Restaurants or at those humble traveling trolleys in the city but I heard the best Es Goyobod in Garut is the one that sold at their central city park and the other one at Garut Hospital.

Maybe I'll try it myself one day when I visit the city. :)

Es campur

Unlike Es Goyobod, Es campur- Sundanese version for fruit cocktail can be found easily in Bandung restos or food stalls.

Not live in Bandung or you prefer to cook everything by yourself like me? well good news coz Es campur is easy to make.

Es campur or "mixed ice" is one of a must serve in my family menu list when it comes to the Month of Ramadan so I made it quite often. Serving sweet fresh beverage is just ideal for iftar.

This cold and colorful beverage often served as dessert in dinner also. With varied ingredients, its not only healthy but also taste yummy.

You can use any fruits you have on the fridge to make Es campur and make your own version actually but the Sundanese version is consist of shaved ice, avocado, jackfruit, shredded coconut flesh, Jackfruit, cendol- green warm-like jelly, Chinese pearls, black grass jelly, basil seeds, cassava tapai, Kolang kaling- coconut fruit, diced bread with liquid sugar and condensed milk on top.

Sound yummy?well, it is :)

In my case, another best time enjoying es campur is after eating a bowl of spicy Bakso. mmm!

Es Oyen

Another version of Es campur and also quite famous now in Bandung is Es Oyen.

Consist of tapioca jelly, melon avocado, jackfruit, shredded coconut flesh, Chinese pearls, kolang kaling and seaweed, coconut milk and condensed milk on top makes this cold dessert beverage almost similar with Es campur but it tastes different.

Why this beverage named Oyen you asked? according to my source, Es Oyen was created by a guy named Oyen. He first sell his version of cocktail fruits at Jalan Bungsu 29 or Bungsu street, Bandung and named it Es sekoteng Oyen but later on his costumer name it Es Oyen for practical reason.

There's another story about how the "Oyen" names comes from. Its said that Oyen was the name of Mr. Zakaria's bird pet. Mr Zakaria is the founder of well known Es Oyen at Veteran street Bandung.

Well, I dunno which story is the true story but Es Oyen is truly yummy and although it might look like Es Campur but Es Oyen sure tastes different also.

Es Shanghai

Again, similiar to Es Campur and Es Oyen is Es Shanghai. And again, all though it looks similar to other native Sundanese cocktail versions, Es Shanghai also taste different.

What makes Es shanghai different is that it use young coconut water as the soup makes this beverage also a traditional energy drink.

Es Shanghai traditionally consist of avocado, pineapple, kolang kaling, shredded coconut flesh, black grass jelly, coco pandan syrup, young coconut water and condensed milk.

Sop Buah

Abour 4 or 5 years ago, Es buah or frutty soup was a big hit in Bandung. Everyone loves it and its popular among young especially students.

Not only because its yummy and healthy as it consists variant fruits like grape, kiwi, watermelon, melon, mango, strawberry- depends on the seller version, but also it costs only 5000 to 8000 rupiah per portion.

There's always new and popular foods in Bandung every time but you still can find Es buah anywhere in Bandung till now but I don't think the sellers are still as many as back then.

Must understand, food biz is one of very competitive biz in Bandung beside fashion. :)

Es Durian

Any of you likes durian? this king of fruits might smells like shit but many think it tastes like heaven, the same reason that made es durian a popular dessert not only in Bandung but also in many region in Indonesia.

Serve it as a dessert or just as fresh beverage in a hot day.

Es Durian that quite famouse in Bandung is "Es Durian Pak Aip".

Pak Aip or Mister Aip created his own version of Es Durian and sell it on his own stall at Tubagus Ismail street (Dago area) in Bandung.

What makes his version different from others? well his version of Es Durian is actually a fruit soup with Durian in coconut milk.

If you are fans of Durian, I think its worth to try it once you hunt for foods in Bandung and nooo, please note again, non of those I mentioned on my blog pay me to do this ad okay.

I don't think they even know I am doing this. Its another free add for the local biz. I am just the social worker here hehehehe :P but no, seriously, I think we do need to support local biz. I have a small biz myself in town so there you go. :)

Es Doger

Another specialty of Bandung is non other than Es Doger. I honestly do not know why it named Doger. There's a word "dogger" in Dutch tho, maybe it got the name during the Dutch occupation?

Anyway, Es Doger consist of Shaved ice, coconut milk in pink syrup, pink or red tapioca pearls, cassava tapai, black gelatinous rice, jackfruits, avocado, diced breads and white or chocolate flavor condensed milk.

You can find Es Doger in other city in Indo like Jakarta, Malang or Surabaya but Es Doger always associate with Bandung where its originally from.

Es krim Duren

I think almost everyone in Bandung familiar with this humble ice durian on red polkadot cup.

The Es krim duren traveling seller is so easy to find, in every corner or hangout spot in Bandung like shopping malls, even school or other crowded areas in the city.

The durian ice cream they sell is of course Ice cream with durian flavor. They do add real durian but by request as not everyone likes the fruit I think also black tapai and condensed choco milk as the topping.

It taste not bad. I bought once from the traveling vendor near Ciwalk mall at Jalan Cihampelas and no I didn't get food poisoned. :D

Jus Alpukeut and Cendol

Another deadly duet in Bandung's popular beverage is Jus Alpukeut- local language for Avocado juice, and Cendol so once you doing the culinary trip in Bandung, make sure you don't miss them.

Well am not Durian fans, haha but I sure like avocado juice and in Bandung, jus alpukeut is one of the famous juice. Some of you might not familiar with avocado juice but it really taste yummy.

Its available everywhere in Bandung or do you want to make it yourself? its really easy to make.

Here's how:

To make delicious Es Alpukeut, you'll need ripe avocados- ripe avocado is soft when you press it.

You'll also need two cup of milk for every 4 avocados, boil some brown sugar with water to get 4 table spoons of thick brown sugar. Blend them all together. Then put in some ice cube and blend again and its done.

Take a glass and pour some condensed chocolate milk before pouring the avocado juice and when finish, add more condensed chocolate milk on top of the juice and your Jus Alpukeut is ready to be served.

Cendol

Like I said, you cant miss Cendol either when you're enjoy your culinary trip here in Bandung.

Made from Rice flour served with coconut milk, slices of jackfruits, brown sugar and ice cubes. A glass of Cendol can really save you from a hot day after you shop till drop in town.

The famous Bandung's cendol is Cendol Elisabeth.

Elisabeth is actually a local bag brand and they have their own store in Bandung and Just in front of their store, you'll find the Cendol seller which by the time named Cendol Elisabeth by their costumers.

Cendol Elisabeth Vs Cendol Gentong

Many who already visited Bandung and did culinary trip in town probably already familiar with this green worm-like jelly or well know as Cendol Elisabeth but did you know you can also find white cendol in Bandung beverage which called Cendol Gentong.

Its not yet as popular as the green cendol but some local already fell in love with the unique taste.

White Cendol made from corn starch. Besides its white color, white cendol also smaller than the green cendol. What makes it more unique is that they put these white cendol which already mixed with coconut milk in a Gentong- local term for a big pot made from clay like shown in the picture above.

The wellknown Cendol Gentong in Bandung, got to be the one in Alkatery street at Alkateri Lotek.

Es Cingcau

Es Cingcau is-again, one of my favorite beverage of Bandung. Usually served with syrup and ice, cingcau is green grass jelly made from leaves of Mesona chinensis (member of the mint family).

To produce gelatin / gel from the leaves of grass jelly, beginning with picking the leaves which are not too old and not too young. The leaves are then knead in boiled water. Use 1 liter of water for every 2 handfuls of leaves of grass jelly. Squeeze water then filtered and deposited during one night. The next morning, the water will be thick and formed and this Gel in the picture below is what we are call the grass jelly.

According to my source, this traditional jelly has many health benefit. Its rich in minerals, especially calcium and phosphorus. Cincau also good for people who are on a diet because it is low in calories but high in fiber. Cincau believed to relieve heartburn, constipation, flatulence, fever and diarrhea. While the fiber very good to cleanse the digestive organs of cancer-causing carcinogens.

Still according to my source, leaves of green grass jelly containing compound dimethyl-1 dimetoidida Kurin. This substance is beneficial to relax the muscles. Other compounds such as isokandrodendrin believed to prevent malignant tumor cells. Cincau also contains alkaloids bisbenzilsokuinolin and S, S-tetandrin are efficacious to prevent kidney cancer, anti-inflammatory and reduce high blood pressure.

Recently there's a new comer in Bandung beverage called Cingcau Ice cream or Es krim Cingcau in local.

Its actually regular cincau but they add one scoop or two of ice cream into it.

Well I think its good for a change and Cingcau might get be popular again with the new version.

It might be a small innovation but you never know which one will be hit the market so lets just wait and see how this new version ice cream cingcau goes in Bandung food market.

I personally like the idea of adding ice cream into the cingcau to replace the coconut milk, its taste better and richer too or maybe because I am a big fan of Ice cream? haha.

Yoghurt

I am sure you can find yoghurt at your place too. Well, its one of the popular beverage in my city also.

West Java has horticultural center in Lembang. Fresh products from Lembang like fresh cow milk- or susu murni in local, also very well known and overflows the market. Dairy products like Youghurt has become business opportunity for many locals for a long time.

Bandung people are familiar with Yoghurt since many many years ago. Even until now, many resto in Bandung serves Yoghurt on their menu list.

Talk about best Yoghurt cafe..., In 90's, Cafe Cisangkuy at Cisangkuy street was a big hit when it comes to this sweet and sour beverage.

I think many people in Bandung also for Bandung food lovers in Indo are still fav all those yoghurt flavors from this cafe. Any delicious taste from plain, strawberry, blackberry, grape, lycee, even chocolate yoghurt are here

Well, I dunno which one you like most but I like both thick and plain Yoghurt. :)

Es Kalapa and Daweugan Bakar

Another popular cooling drink in Bandung is kelapa muda or young coconut ice.

Made from young coconut water, and granulate sugar completed with shredded coconut flesh when serving. The chewing sensation beside the cooling effect made Es Kelapa fans by many especially in hot days or after eating spicy foods.

Daweugan Bakar

Daweugan Bakar or roasted young coconut might not as refreshing as simple Es kalapa.

Roast the coconut in 3 hours then mixed the juice of the coconut with ginger, cinnamon, Java brown sugar, milk and and honey, producing a sweet, warming drink which everyone loves. The taste slightly similar with Bajigur.

Coconut water is better than carbonated soft drink. Coconut water itself is very rich of mineral and potassium

There's not yet research that explain the benefits of roasted coconut water but by adding spices into the coconut juice, you would get some health benefits from them. Its is also believe by drinking the coconut roasted juice with these spices would increase your body resistance and raise you blood circulation level.

Rujak Coel

Rujak coel or also wellknown as Rujak Uleg, is one of Sunda original recipes which happen to be my favorite. Everything on this post are my favorite :P

Roughly shredded fresh tropical fruits like papaya, pineapple, jambu air ( rose apple ), melon, bengkoang ( yam bean ), ubi ( soil apple ), mango in one plate and mix them all together in peanut brown sugar sauce is just perfect to be served on a hot day. It fresh, juicy and sweet. Mmm yummy!

Rujak Beubeug

Rujak Beubeug is native rujak from West Java. It tastes hot, sour, sweet and refreshing.♥!

Its become harder and harder to find the Rujak Beubeug seller in Bandung these days but the good thing is, its so easy to make. Wonder how to make rujak beubeug yourself ? well, you need the recipe and guess what? I have posted it before, here.

If you are tropical fruits fans like me, you might want to try to serve them by making those fruits into this delicious rujak but not all tropical fruits can be use to make this rujak. Make sure you've learned also about which fruit we need to make Rujak Beubeug on my previous post, here.

Rujak Cuka

Oh Rujak cuka is so refreshing! It is one among other refreshing dishes I wouldn't miss on a hot days.

Rujak cuka consists of raw tropical fruits like rose apple, mango, yam bean, pineapple, cucumber which all cut in dice and some raw vegetables like sliced cabbage and bean sprouts also fried ground nuts, vinegar and salt, red pepper and Ebi (dry shrimp).

If you plan to visit Bandung and maybe plan to shop also at Pasar Baru, you will find many Rujak Cuka traveling vendor easily, just to see how it looks like in real.

If your stomach made from steel then maybe you would try to buy some also.You can also find it in supermarket or restos tho.

Asinan

If you've been to Indonesia or plan to visit Indonesia, you might want to visit places where you can enjoy the cool fresh Air. Puncak in Bogor, West Java might be just the answer. Its just one or view hours from Jakarta, the Capital city.

Once you are in Bogor, you might find many food stalls a long the way, selling all kind of local foods for souvenir or in local term Oleh- oleh.

Oleh -oleh is something you brought from the place you visit for friend, colleague or family back home while you're traveling.

It is a tradition for Indonesian to bring oleh -oleh for people you care. No necessary expensive but bringing something they can enjoy is showing that these people you love and care are always on your mind even when you are away from them.

Anyway, from so many local foods they sell, you must find these tropical fruit Asinan like shown in the pic above. Asinan is Indonesian version of fruit or vegetable pickle from West Java.

The famous Asinan from West Java is deffinatelly Asinan Bogor.

Unlike Asinan Betawi- the other famous asinan that preserved vegetable, Asinan Bogor preserved tropical fruits like mango, water apple, papaya, ambarella, jicama, nutmeg, and pineapple, served in sweet hot and sour vinegar and chili sauce, sprinkled with peanuts.

Local ussualy made Asinan them self or just buy them. Asinan Bogor have widely spread in other cities in West Java like Cianjur, Sukabumi, even Bandung, they are easy to find.

Well, that's all I can gather for this Bandung authentic and popular drinks and dessert . I might update the three posts later once I found other infos that worth to share in the mean while I will update Mignonesia with other topics so stay tune my lovely readers and visitors.

Cakra Khan, Indo new singer with Golden voice.

Helloooooooo my readers and visitors! :D

How are y'all doin? :)
I am started my Monday morning here with hot lemon tea aaaaaand with this beautiful voice of this from new Indo singer Cakra Khan.

Oh wait, don't get confuse with Chaka Khan, the legendary singer when you hear his name but I think this guy could be on his way to fame with his awesome voice and of course with his first single "Harus Terpisah"- released this very year 2012, and also maybe with this post hahahahaha! I wish!:P

Born in February 27, 1992 in Pangandaran- Ciamis, West Java Cakra began his music career under Sony music label.

Currently at his sixth semester at Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Music Bandung or Bandung Music Science school majoring Vocal classic, Cakra Konta Payaman- his birth name, did added "Khan" to his stage name which he took from his Idol, the great and the only legendary Queen of funk, Chaka Khan.

He sure new to Indo music industry but he already have his own fanatic fans e.g @CakraKhanz and @CakraHolic which you can find them in twitterland.

I think he'll just need the right songs that could explore his vocal power to the max for his another single or better, an album in the future.

When I heard his song for the first time, I thought it was Sandy Sandoro who sang. I fan Sandoro voice too and I posted him before HERE

I wonder If Cakra and Sandoro could do a duet together coz I bet that would be a deadly duet. DO IT guys, puhleaaase.:)

"Harus terpisah" or Must detached (myself from you) in English is quite a short song so I had to re playing it over and over just to keep enjoying his voice huhuhuhu.

I know the song is in Indonesian but I wont translate the lyric for you. I believe translating it to other language will just kill the song's emotion hehehehe :P but I can tell you what the song is about and do correct me if anyone think I get it wrongly.

I think the song is about, someone who think a lot about his relation he is having with his specific other but started to question where their relation is heading and just wanted to give it up because of his partner's lack of effort and swing mood to make things works between them.

Well, If you've been or if you're actually in an on and off relation right now you might feel related to this song. You might often get this need feeling or thought of detaching yourself from your specific other when you think or feel your specific other is not longer present in your relation you both having in just so you can move on with your things in your life.

Anyway, I found the lyric on the web but can not find the official vid's link. O.o

ALERT: Everyone, I need to update this post. As some of you might already know, Cakra Khan via his management have released his official video for his single. Got 5,263,545 views so far. Right on! Glad people starts to recognize his talent now.
I still think he/his producer [?] doesn't need to add "Khan" on his stage name tho, just because he likes Chaka Khan.. He will be better with his real name Cakra- his voice is amazing already. Adding "Khan" on his stage name just kill/distract-what ever the proper term is, the audience from his own musical talent and confuse them with other singer. Just sayin'. :)

Indonesia will celebrate its 67th independence on August 17th, 2012.

After 67 years of Independence, Indonesia has made lots of progress but on the same time, the country is struggling to cope with various nation problems; corruption, poverty etc.

There's still many good reason for Indonesians to stay optimist and proud of their country as we fought for our freedom, it didn't handed to us. Hope Indonesia will keep on progressing in the future with cleaner and better government, prosperous society with lots of love and peace.

In the meanwhile, take a look some of unique ways of celebrating independence day tradition in Indonesia.

Panjat Pinang

Introduced to the Indonesians by Dutch colonies as form of entertainment, Panjat pinang or the Pole climbing is one of the oldest most popular tradition in Indonesia.

Climbing a fairly high and slippery pole for present on the top sure not easy. Contestants usually work together and split the prizes.

Although the game might teach people to work together to reach and work hard to reach their goals and some might find it fun to watch too but on the other hand, cutting down the nut-tree also caused the environmental issue and because of its colonial origins- while others want to keep the tradition, some wants to ban the practice are prob some of the controversy surround Panjat Pinang has made this race can not always be found on Independence day celebration in many cities or villages in Indonesia these days? Well, I don't find Panjat pinang on my neighborhood anymore that for sure.

Balap Karung

Another popular race on independence day in Indonesia is sack race or balap karung in local.
This challenging race is not just for kids, people in any age can play it.

Lomba Bakiak

Popular among peoples in central Java, bakiak is traditional sandal made from palm woods with mild foot-binding (slop) from old tires nailed on both side, bakiak is very cheap. Commonly used by women when traveling and was very popular during difficult economic times back then.

So popular that it gave ideas to people to create a race out of it and the bakiak race have become part of tradition races on Indonesian independence day celebration since.

The Bakiak specially designed elongated with two to five slops makes up to 5 peoples possible to wear one bakiak on the same time for the race.

As you can see on the pic above, its not an easy task to walk or run with it together on the same time to the finish line or you will fall.

There's funny saying about cracker rice or krupuk, "not eat rice without krupuk is like a kiss without love" Haha.

This popular cracker is so loved by many locals and its not a surprise if they come up with cracker eating race to make the Independence celebration lots of fun.

There's still many traditions- wish I could post them all, but I am running out of time here so I just highlighted some of them. Ehehehehe :p
