THE MUST HAVE MAKEUP PRODUCTS FOR A FLAWLESS FINISH

As a professional makeup artist and tutor, a lot of my clients and students have asked me questions like what do I use this for or do I need this?

I will be sharing some key products that are quite essential to have in your makeup bag. If you don't have these products then get them immediately and if you already do, you are on track.

Before I get down to business, note that these products are not only meant for makeup artists but every individual that uses makeup at all.

1. Every makeup lover/user/guru need a face primer. A face primer not only prolongs your makeup but also keeps your foundation intact and helps it not smear. A face primer is a base that serves as a canvas to hold onto whatever makeup product you apply to your skin. Have you seen a makeup that the skin work looks streaked and smudged, that's because a primer wasn't applied or a good primer wasn't applied. It's one thing to buy a primer and it's another to buy a reputable one. I would recommend House of Tara face primer, Hegai & Esther face primer, and Zaron face primer because I have used all three and works magic.

2. Setting spray is a must-have because it simply prevents fading or smudging. It also extends the wear of your makeup. It will keep your makeup look from rubbing off on your face mask. Use it after foundation to lock it in and after the entire makeup is done. I would recommend Tara setting spray, Zaron setting spray, Kiss beauty setting spray and Sooo pro setting spray.

3. Setting powder is a must-have because it gives a flawless finish when mixed with foundation. It will also keep your foundation in place and reduce shine. Great for oily skin and I would recommend Maybelline setting powder.

4. Eye shadow primer is a must-have because it holds the eye shadow in place for longer periods and eliminates creasing in the eye area. It helps eye makeup go on smoother and prevents the fallout of the eye shadow. I would recommend Tara eye primer.

5. Beauty blender is a must-have for flawless application of foundation on the skin. I would recommend the Beauty line by didi pro beauty blender for that flawless application and make sure you apply the product with a damp blender. To know if your blender is original, it should be very soft when wet and swollen.

6. Lip pencils are my go-to for perfectly outlined lips. It helps fill in uneven areas on the edges of the lips before applying lipstick. It acts as a base for your lipstick. It also prevents lipstick bleeding or smudging. I would recommend Tara lip pencil and Zaron lip pencil.

These product items listed above are important for a beautifully made look.

THINGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT OKRO

Okro or okra is known in many English- speaking countries as ladies' fingers because the pods are long and shaped like a lady's finger. Its scientific name is Abelmoschus esculentus. It is a good source of vitamins, minerals, fibre, and antioxidants.

As a vegetable, okra may be prepared like asparagus, sauteed or pickled. A large amount of mucilage it contains makes it useful as a thickener for soups. Okra flowers usually bloom for less than a day before it drops off the plant.

As much as there are benefits to eating this crop, too much isn't so good because there are side effects.

Let's start with the side effects;

Okra contains fructans, a type of carbohydrate. This can cause diarrhoea, gas, cramping and bloating especially to those with bowel problems. It can also cause gout and kidney stones because okra is high in oxalates which prevent your body from absorbing beneficial nutrients in your digestive tract.

Benefits of Okra

Okra helps control obesity or fat. Eating okra makes one full for a long time because it is rich in fibre.

Okra is low in calories.

Okra provides support to cells to fight off cancer.

Okra improves cardiac function and lowers bad cholesterol.

Okra contains Vitamin C which helps repair body tissues and helps your skin look younger.

Okra strengthens the bone and improves eye health because it contains Vitamin A, K and folates.

Okra helps control blood sugar levels.

Okra helps control asthma and strengthens immunity.

Okra improves fertility in women and gives prenatal support because it is high in folate which is good for the brain development of fetuses.

In as much as okra has this many benefits, don't eat in excess but in moderation because of its side effect stated earlier.

On a side note, I just made some delicious okra soup this evening. Bon appetite as the French say.

HOW TO REMOVE LUMPS IN OGBONO SOUP

If you are not African, you might not know ogbono soup. Permit me to explain this to my non-African readers what ogbono is then we can proceed to the essence of this article.

Ogbono soup is a Nigerian dish made with dry ground ogbono seeds.

It originated from the eastern part of Nigeria where the Igbos come from. The seed is sometimes known as wild mango, African mango or bush mango.

Ogbono soup is easy to prepare and it is slimy in texture, similar to a soup called okra. The soup is called draw soup in English.

How to remove lumps in Ogbono soup;

This soup is easy to make but if you don't start right, you will end up getting it wrong. If you ever find lumps while making this soup then something went wrong. I experienced this recently for the very first time and decided to share how I was able to get rid of the lumps.

Usually, there are two methods in making this soup, you can either fry or boil the ground seeds. Well, the frying method is my style.

When frying, you put the red oil first into the pot and allow it to dissolve for a few minutes, then put in the ogbono. Normally, you are supposed to mix and squash the ogbono with the red oil, then put in the meat stock and stir until the ogbono starts to thicken and draw. This is what I normally do when preparing ogbono soup but this time it all went wrong. I didn't put enough red oil, and I didn't start stirring immediately. I also didn't let the oil mix properly with the ground ogbono.

The next thing I saw, the soup had lumps. I don't know if you've experienced this before, if you have, you can tell me what you did to dissolve the lumps in the comment section below so we can try it.

What I did to remove the lumps was use a sieve with tiny holes to separate the larger pieces of the draw soup from the rest.

Then I went on to pour the larger pieces back into the pot, added water and turned the heat back on. While stirring the soup, I was squashing the lumps as well. Then, I used the sieve again to separate the larger pieces from the soup. I repeated this like four times and was able to get my smooth thick draw soup back.

Thereafter, I continued preparing my soup by adding pepper, salt, spice cubes, meat and vegetables (ugu leaf).

Communication is speaking, listening, understanding and responding. It means exchanging information by speaking, writing or using other methods. It includes a sender, a message and a recipient.

When you communicate properly, you express love, you build others up, you will grow and be better. Good communication helps to remove burden, anger and misunderstanding.

If you are communicating and it promotes anger, then you are not communicating properly. Like I mentioned earlier, when one is communicating, there should be a speaker, a message and a receiver. When the recipient is not listening, responding or understanding your message, then you are not saying anything reasonable at all. If you're not communicating in a healthy way, disaster will arise.

When there is no open communication, the simple talks will become arguments then it becomes aggressive communication and later, it becomes toxic. No one can have a relationship when there's no communication.

DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OVULATION AND MENOPAUSE - HOW TO STOP MENOPAUSE

Ovulation is when a mature egg is released from the ovary. After the egg is released, it then moves down to the fallopian tube where fertilization by sperm can take place. A woman is most fertile during ovulation and this occurs 12 to 14 days before your next period. Ovulation is part of your menstrual cycle, meaning it happens every month.

Cervix changes - The Cervix acts as the door to the uterus which sperm can travel through to fertilize eggs.

MENOPAUSE

Menopause simply means the end of your menstrual cycle. It is a natural biological process and can happen between the age of 40 or 50. It doesn't occur overnight but a gradual process. It is a time when the function of the ovaries ceases.

HOW TO STOP MENOPAUSE

Having sex regularly can delay menopause.

Oily fish like salmon, sardines, mackerel can delay menopause.

Use organic beauty products.

Use ceramic cookware instead because it does not contain chemicals.

Eat low-fat dairy.

Never keep food in plastic packaging.

Drink plenty of water.

HOW TO ELIMINATE BAD MOUTH ODOUR

What is odour? It is a particularly unpleasant smell. Bad breath is also called halitosis and can be really embarrassing. There are several reasons why people have bad mouth odour and below are tips on how to eliminate it. If you fall under this category, then read carefully because the truth is, no one likes to be around bad mouth odour. First of all, let's highlight the possible causes.

Causes of bad mouth odour

There are certain foods, habits and health conditions that cause mouth odour.

1. Smoking and Alcohol - Smokers and those who take alcohol frequently are more likely to have gum disease which is also called periodontitis, a bad breath trigger. Gum disease damages the soft tissue and the bone that supports your teeth. According to research, alcohol can trigger acid reflux, a digestive disease, in which the stomach acid irritates the throat, and this acid has an odour. Smoking damages the gum tissue leading to gum disease.

2. Food - Eating certain foods like onions, spices, seafood and garlic can cause bad mouth odour. After eating these foods, they enter your blood vessels and affect your breath. It's no wonder when you stay close to someone who ate fish or food containing onions, their breath smells really bad.

3. Dry mouth (xerostomia) - The saliva helps cleanse the mouth by removing particles that cause bad breath. A decrease in saliva production contributes to bad mouth odour. Dry mouth naturally occurs during sleep, which leads to morning breath.

4. Poor dental hygiene - If you don't brush at least twice a day or floss daily, food particles left in your mouth would cause bad mouth odour. Poor dental hygiene can create plaque on your teeth which could irritate the gums and eventually form periodontitis-gum disease.

5. Other possible causes are mouth, nose or throat infections.

How to eliminate bad mouth odour

1. Drinking enough water daily.

2. Brush your teeth after you eat or take a mint or gum if you are not close to a brush but make sure you brush when you get home.

3. Floss daily.

4. Always brush your tongue.

5. Get a new toothbrush after 3 months.

6. Take fruits like watermelon, pawpaw, pineapple, and apples daily for hydration.

7. See your dentist at least twice a year to have your teeth cleaned.

NEW YAM FESTIVAL SEASON IN NIGERIA - ORIGIN AND DATE

This is the biggest yam for the New Yam Festival happening in Nanka, a small town before Ekwulobia, in Anambra state. My cousin sent this image and I decided to share it. She attended the festival which happened yesterday, August 15th 2020.

Usually, the town celebrates the festival after Igwe Godwin Ogochukwu Ezekunie Obu Nanka but because of COVID 19, there won't be any big ceremony.

What is the New Yam Festival? The New Yam Festival is a Nigerian annual cultural festival by the Igbo people held in August.

The New Yam Festival is a celebration representing the prominence of yam in the life of Igbo people. The evening before the day of the festival, all old yams are disposed of or consumed. Only dishes of yam are served during the festival. The celebration lasts a whole day and some other places, it may last a week or more. New Yam festival is also celebrated in Abia, Enugu, Ebonyi, Delta and Imo state. The festival is an important way of marking the beginning and end of the farming season in Nigeria. It is considered taboo to eat the newly harvested yam before the celebration. This means the event must precede the eating of new yam.

Why is the festival so important? Yam is a crucial staple in Igbo diet. The number of yams a man successfully grows indicates his wealth and rank in society. The cultivation of yam is associated with masculinity.

1. GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES - How I love my veggies. I used to hate green veggies growing up but now I make sure to add vegetables to almost every meal I prepare. Few varieties of green vegetables to include in your meal are spinach, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, etc. Green leafy vegetables are packed with vitamins, minerals and fibre. Eating this daily can reduce high blood pressure, heart disease, eye problems, increases our skin natural protection from sun damage and lastly, helps with skin hydration.

2. SWEET POTATOES - Are my faves all-day. It's sweet but certainly healthy. It is high in beta-carotene which helps fight off free radicals that cause skin ageing. It's also rich in vitamin A, C and E, which are important in keeping our skin healthy. It also contains magnesium, an essential mineral for normal body functioning and stress relief. Sweet potatoes can help manage skin diseases like acne because the vitamin C present in it possesses anti-inflammatory properties.

3. TOMATOES & PEPPER - These two contain 100% of your daily vitamin C needs. They fight against cancer, wrinkles, diabetes, gets you glowing skin, increases metabolism and pepper reduces belly fat. Tomatoes can reduce sunburn and also hydrates the skin. It's rich in vitamins and minerals and has amazing skin benefits. If you want to look and feel healthy, add tomatoes or pepper to your daily meal.

4. SEAFOOD - Seafood refers to fresh and saltwater fish. Examples are salmon, mackerel, sardine, cod, herring, tuna, etc. Fish skin contains protein, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamin E. 6. FRUITS - We all know that fruits are highly recommended daily. Oranges are packed with vitamin C which is essential for radiant skin. Papaya helps keep your skin hydrated. 10 MISTAKES MAKEUP ARTISTS MAKE THAT SHOULD STOP - ON BECOMING PROFESSIONALS

We all make blunders. I certainly did and still do. In my six years of experience in the makeup industry, I have noticed that we never stop learning new tips and tricks when it comes to makeup. In makeup artistry, we learn, unlearn, relearn for the need to constantly improve our skills. If you aren't growing or improving as an artist then you are doing something wrong. But don't fret, that's why I am here. To tell you the mistakes you are making that is perhaps keeping you in a loop.

I am certain everyone wants to expand at some point in their lives or career. If you are that person, then keep reading. I started my career as a makeup artist in 2014. Before then, I was already into makeup as self-taught. My friends would tell me to always make them up because they saw my passion and creativity was second to none. I didn’t learn makeup from anyone or anywhere, it was just innate. A few years later, I decided to take it up as a professional career. I paid a prominent makeup artist to teach me further. I was ready to unlearn to relearn even though I knew how to makeup. That was how my career began. I have worked with Sleek Makeup, Zaron, and currently, I work with House of Tara.

During those years of service with Sleek and Zaron, I have learnt very important things that have shaped me into who I am today.

Listed below are mistakes I have undergone and seen other artists make that needs to stop. This is for both the professionals and rookies.

1. Be willing to serve - As a makeup artist, serving will not only broaden your experience but will expose you to several opportunities like connections, partnerships, potentials clients and much more. Where I am today is as a result of where I worked six years ago. Quite a number of artists today are not willing to serve or work under someone for a while before starting up their brand. Trust me, that's a huge mistake you don't want to make. You need the experience to build confidence and advancement in the future. Serving is like attending a university for free. Trust me, what you would learn or gain from service cannot be quantified.

2. Not being faithful - As the saying goes, what goes around comes around. It's as simple as that. If you aren't faithful to your employers or your clients, it would backfire on you sooner or later. Always remember that you might have your own brand someday so do unto others what you want to be done to you.

3. Not being professional - Be lenient but also, be professional. You have to represent your brand well. The way you carry yourself is the way you will be treated. Be it in the work environment or with clients. Note that clients are not friends so they should be treated as such, with utmost attentiveness. If you make this mistake, you will most likely lose clients.

4. Not willing to share knowledge - As they say, when you learn, teach, when you get, give. Knowledge has no value unless you use it and share it. Gaining knowledge is wisdom, sharing it is humanity. If you want to succeed, gain strength and really blossom in your career, share and don't hoard. I have learned that in the past years of my career. I get to know more about any particular knowledge I share. After all, you’ll not take the knowledge away from the earth. Start birthing proteges.

5. Not being confident - This mistake can demoralise any makeup artist especially if you are new to the career. You will meet clients that are rude, picky and inconsiderate but your level of confidence will determine how you react. If you don't believe in yourself, start working on that. Build your confidence and don't be sorry. With confidence, you have won before you have started.

No one will approve of you if you haven't approved yourself. When you have confidence, you can conquer the world. So stand tall, your head high and show the world what you're capable of.

6. Not accepting mistakes - As I mentioned earlier, we all make blunders. Accept it and learn from it. I love to learn from my mistakes. When you make errors, evaluate them and do better. There would be times you would get criticisms, assess them and outmatch it. Don't worry about anything because we learn and grow every day.

7. Taking offence - Offence will take you nowhere. Smile and move ahead. I have been spoken to rudely by clients severally. All you have to do is endure, smile and let go. It's a test and you have to pass it by simply not taking any offence if you want to grow. We should be too big to take offence and too noble to give it.

8. Not cleaning makeup tools - Always make sure your working tools are clean. If you can't use it on your face then don't use it on a client. Don't share makeup brushes with clients. Every artist should have their personal makeup tools. Practice personal hygiene for the safety of your self and your clients, if you want them to remain loyal.

9. Not using the right products - Use the appropriate makeup products for each client. For example, if you have a client with oily skin, use products for oily skin and whatnot. If your client has dry skin, use a moisturizer. With this, you will be seen as a professional.

10. Not asking questions - Everyone has what they like or what suits them. Make sure to ask questions when working on any client especially a new client. If you don't do this, you might end up wiping off the entire makeup which can be disheartening. The client might also not reach out again. So don't be too big to ask your clients what they would like, what colour of lipstick, eyeshadow and whatnot.

10 BASIC THINGS TO KNOW WHEN STARTING A YOUTUBE CHANNEL | NEW YOUTUBERS OR CONTENT CREATORS

Hello, YouTubers, or aspiring YouTubers, if you are reading this, then you are at the right place.

I started my channel a year ago and wasn't consistent until the global pandemic. It gave me the chance I needed to get on with my channel and believe me when I say the lockdown wasn't a bad idea because it paved the way for my consistency so far on YouTube.

Having a Youtube channel and growing is a process that cannot be overlooked, that's if you want to partake in the process.

Here is a video I filmed concerning this topic on Youtube. You can watch it to get the visual aspect of the stated points further down.

When I started my channel, I didn't have a clear picture as to what to film or concerning what my channel should be about. I just wanted to start a channel and when I say something, I do it. One important thing you need to take from here is to START! Starting something is paramount for growth and success in general. That first step is gravely important when it comes to life, I should say.

If you want to start anything, don't wait no more. If it's a business, start now. If it's a YouTube channel, start now! If you are concerned about contents to upload, keep reading.

What's your niche? What are you good at? What can you do effortlessly? What's that one thing people come to you for? Everyone is special and unique in their own way. There's something about you that's different from everyone else. If you don't know that, then start searching, start asking and find out your niche right now. One thing though, when you do start your channel, be patient because Youtube is a competitive community. Someone out there can be doing the things you choose to do, but worry not. Just be you and do you and the right people will follow you with ease. It could take a year or more to really grow on Youtube, regardless, stay consistent and be true to you.

Every big Youtuber today started from 0 subscribers but they grew because they were resilient, consistent and determined. I am also growing and I believe one hundred per cent in myself; you should too because no one else will. In a few years from now, I believe my subscribers would have increased drastically because I have no intentions of backing out. So, let's smash those numbers together!

1. When starting a channel, you need to know what it would be about. What kind of contents will you be uploading? What is your channel about? Know this before you start a channel so you have a guideline regarding contents to create.

2. Have a brand name. A name that is easily recognised and memorable. Don't use names that are too long or weird to pronounce.

3. When uploading on YouTube, you have to include tags to make your videos appear on related searched keywords. Watch the video above to get a better understanding. You can do this on YouTube editor studio using your computer or phone. Make sure to also include a description of the video, title and end screen. End screens will lead your viewers to other videos on your channel.

4. The YouTube video ratio is 16:9 when editing. Take your videos in landscape mode and not portrait when using your phone to film.

5. You can earn money on YouTube but only when you have reached 1000 subscribers and 4000 watch hours. Monitor your progress by viewing the Youtube analytics daily.

6. Don't use copyright music on your videos when editing or music you didn't create. You won't earn from those videos when you eventually get monetized, that is when you are eligible to be paid. Check out this link for free music YouTube Audio Library.

7. What is a thumbnail? Thumbnail is a visual summary of your video. It represents the content of a YouTube video so make sure it stands out. You can use this link to create a professional thumbnail canva or download this app PixelLab.

8. Intros are the visuals at the beginning of a video. It shouldn't be too long.

9. Outros are sometimes called end screen. It appears at the end of a video. Watch the video above to see an example. The end screen is a YouTube feature that appears in the last 5-20 seconds of a video.

10. YouTube cards are added to videos to promote other videos/playlist on your channel. It can take viewers to another video, channel or site.

HOW TO MAKE YOUR SKIN GLOW - THE BEST SKINCARE ROUTINE

Clear and radiant skin isn't gotten overnight. You have to deliberately do what's required with of course patience. You have to wait for at least 4-6 weeks to notice a difference. There are steps to achieving clear skin and to get results, you have to orderly follow them.

Before I itemise the steps, do you know your skin type? It's paramount in achieving your desired skin goal.

We have dry skin, oily skin, normal skin, sensitive skin and combination skin.

Which one is yours? If you have no idea, here's a tip for you to know which skin type you have.

Dry skin gets itchy and scaly. Your skin dries up easily.

Oily skin is greasy especially on your t-zone which is the forehead, nose and chin area.

Normal skin is neither greasy nor dry.

Sensitive skin reacts to things easily. Use hypoallergenic products if you have allergies.

Combination skin has a little bit of oily skin and a little dry skin. Sometimes your skin is dry and sometimes it's oily.

When getting skincare products, make sure you buy what suits your skin type to get good results.

• Cleansing - Wash your face with a face wash or soap. If you are prone to acne, get a face wash for acne-prone skin. If you use ordinary soap, further cleanse your skin with a face cleanser. I use Neutrogena blackhead eliminating cleansing lotion as my cleanser and so far, it's working great.

• Exfoliating - Exfoliation will help remove dead cells from the skin. It brings newer and healthier skin cells. To exfoliate, use your hands to apply the scrub in circular motions three times a week. Leave for about 30 seconds and wash off with water. I use St.Ives acne control apricot scrub.

• Toning - This third step is important because it deep cleans your skin. Toners help tightens pores, improves the skin, reduces oiliness and appearance of pores. I use Palmer's medicated acne toner.

• Moisturizer - Every skin type needs this for hydration. It makes the skin feel softer and smoother. It also prevents dryness.

Most people think oily skin doesn't need a moisturiser but it does. After using all the stated products above, your skin will dry up. A moisturizer will prevent the dryness and will make the skin look supple. I use Neutrogena visibly clear oil-free moisturizer.

I have oily skin that's why I use products meant for my skin type. If you check the products I use, it's for acne-prone skin. I can't use products meant for dry skin because I could break out.

More tips to practice for a clearer skin;

Sleep on clean pillow sheets.

Drink enough water daily.

Take fruits like oranges, papaya, beets, broccoli and strawberries for good skin.

Get enough rest.

Don't prick your skin especially with unwashed hands.

If you deliberately practise all these steps, then you're on your way to getting your dream skin.

As a professional makeup artist, trying out different products is definitely a must for me. I have been in the makeup industry for about seven years now and I have come across hundreds of makeup brands. Today, I will name seven brands I know that are really inexpensive and also of good quality.

Personally, I have tried these brands so it's not a guess list.

These makeup products will not clog your pores, neither would it cause any skin infection whatsoever. If you breakout using these products, then perhaps your skin lacks the appropriate care it needs. Quite a lot of women tend to blame their skin problems on makeup products. Well, you shouldn't.

Before condemning the brand or product, try a skincare routine and see what happens. STOP BEING SO OFFENDED: WHY PEOPLE ARE EASILY OFFENDED

First off, an offence is taken not given. We can decide today to not be hurt. We can ignore the urge to feel offended if we decide to react to things differently. An offence is when you're upset or hurt because someone has been rude or disrespectful. I know sometimes people can be unbearable but if you react negatively to situations all the time, you're only stealing your peace of mind. People get offended because they feel attacked but do you know you can resist this urge and become a better version of yourself? Keep reading. Taking offence means you are pissed at something. Pride also plays a huge role when it comes to taking offence. One thing is sure, you would get wrinkled easily if all you do is take offence at the slightest things.

This image shows the lady is offended. What would she gain by being stuck up? Personalize that question and what's your answer? Absolutely nothing!

How to not be so easily offended:

If you lack humility and selflessness, then you are likely to get offended easily. You need to believe everyone has a good intention at heart towards you. When you are told the truth about something, accept that you are wrong, make corrections rather than taking offence. This is where humility comes in. Get off your high horse, love truth more than the need to be right. Even if you don't agree, state your opinion or give explanations but do it selflessly. Everyone is entitled to their opinion so let them have it. Always remember that we are here to serve people and not to be served. It cannot always be about you. Self-centredness will make you see every motive, action or word as an attack and with this attitude, you will be offended time and again.

Learn to let things slide and stop looking for things to be offended by. Accept that people cannot be like you. Everyone is unique and special in their own way and people see things differently. If someone offends you, rather than getting offended, forgive and let go. Both genetic and environmental factors determine someone's personality. You don't know where they came from or why they think the way they do. The best thing you would do for yourself and such people is to overlook. Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change. Allow others to be themselves around you. This will help you understand people better and not get offended easily.

Grow your inner self. Train your mental and emotional body. Embrace what scares you. Be happy and stay happy. No one has the right to hurt you unless you let them. You need to accept yourself first before you can accept others. Accept your imperfection and others too for no one is perfect. When having an argument or discussion, choose not to create meaning for every word. Don't jump to conclusions either. Learn to listen, accept before acting.

Personally, I don't even have the space to keep any offence because I love my peace of mind. I have learnt and still learning the act of forgiveness. I have been spoken to rudely and disrespected but all I do in response to that is smile. You can do it. Stay happy and keep smiling. Remember, an offence is taken and not given.

10 MAKEUP HACKS/TRICKS FOR OILY SKIN

Do you have a problem with your oily skin?

Oily skin can be a problem sometimes, especially when you go out into the sun. It won't let you slay your makeup but at least you get to shine. If you have oily skin, then your t-zone area will be greasy most of the time, which is mainly the forehead, nose, and chin. The good thing about this is that you would hardly suffer from wrinkles or dryness of the skin. Rather, your face gets to feel youthful and glitzy. One simple way to manage excess oil on the face/skin is to use skincare products meant for your skin type. Just as you can't use gas for your car, the same way you can't use products meant for dry skin. It won't work. Therefore, when buying products for the skin, ensure it's meant for oily skin.

Below, are safe makeup tricks you can try;

1. Micellar water as a face cleanser. Before making up, it's ideal to thoroughly cleanse the face. Micellar water is gentle on the skin, removes dirt, hydrates and also mattifies the skin. It cleanses the skin while absorbing oil on the skin as well. It is the perfect substitute for makeup remover or face toner and suitable for all skin types. You can purchase at any pharmacy near you.

2. Use skincare products for oily skin. This cannot be overemphasized. Always search for matte makeup products like powder, foundation, and primer to help keep the oils at bay.

3. Use water-based moisturizers. No matter how oily your skin is, moisturizers are necessary to keep the skin hydrated. The natural water-based moisturizers I would recommend is Rosewater/oil, Jojoba oil, Coconut oil, Aloe-vera, Almond oil and Glycerin.

4. Use a face primer before makeup. This helps smoothen lines, hide pores and imperfections. It minimizes pores and ensures makeup adheres for a longer time.

5. Use an eye primer and lip primer if you don't want your eyeshadow or lipstick to move. Then apply foundation and set face again with powder and setting spray.

10. If your nose is oilier, apply eyeshadow primer around your nose. It creates a matte base for the foundation.

Positivity breeds productivity in any work environment. When we decide to be optimistic about our work, the constructive output is expected. Being positive opens up the mind to credence. Optimistic staff believes that anything is possible and achievable. In this day and time, one must surround themselves with positive vibes to thrive.

Never say it is not possible until you have tried it. Don't let assumptions steal the one chance you might have had to make a difference where you work. It is definitely not easy to be optimistic all the time but it is absolutely plausible. Always weigh options rather than settling for negative feedback.

No matter how hard it is to sell a product as a salesperson, never trivialize it. If it has been sold before, then it can still be sold. Just because it hasn't been bought for a few days, doesn't mean it will never be sold. Find out its selling point and market it. Everything has a selling point so use it to your advantage.

Cultivate that habit of positiveness towards every product you market and do it with a sense of fulfilment. No one else will do it for you.
How you see your product is exactly how your client perceives it. If you don't value it, they would not. If you value it, they definitely will keep buying it.

Positivity boosts your confidence in whatever you have to market or sell. You can't sell if you don't believe in what you sell and by believing, you have to wear it or use it so you know how to defend your product where necessary.

Whatever product you market, you have to try it out yourself. You cant be selling food and never know how it tastes. How do you then defend it or know the truth behind the critics? You wouldn't know what to say because you don't even know how good or bad it tastes.

Optimism makes employees happier and they get to be more involved in their work. Keep up the positive thoughts wherever you find yourself. Never say something isn't good no matter what. Rather discuss it with your employer and find ways to make it better. Most children will never say anything bad about their parents outside no matter what they do.

Believe in your brand or company and it will blossom. Speak positive things about it and optimism will become an integral part of your life as a salesperson.

THE GRAVITY OF CONTENTMENT AND THE BENEFITS

What do you understand by contentment? Contentment is a state of happiness and satisfaction. It is perhaps drawn from being at ease with your entire being. Lack of contentment is a fragment of ungratefulness. People tend to easily forget where they are coming from and what they never had.

Contentment is finding happiness in what we already have in our lives. It is showing satisfaction with our possessions, situation or status quo.

"Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty." - Socrates

To be content is at all, not an easy task. The world we live in doesn't help, right? We find ourselves competing with colleagues, friends and even family members. We want what they have, then when we have it, we seek for more. Why is that? They say humans are never satisfied because of the quest to prove one's worthiness but do you know discontent is a great barrier to fully live a simple and happy life? Why do you need to prove anything to anyone? We are all on a personal race. Do yourself a great deal by living to be happy and not living to prove a sense of worthiness to mere humans like you. No one really does care. Everyone is searching for a way to be successful in life and a way to be motivated positively. Discontent is only going to drive you insane.

Embrace what you have today and stop wishing. Stop fretting over what could happen or what could have been. Live each moment to the fullest because you might not get that again. If you are not contented with what you have now, you will never be contented even with what you are craving to have.

Do your best in everything. Put your very best into your job, your family, your relationships and take pleasure in doing it. Be grateful for what you have instead of focusing on what you don't have. People make the mistake of seeking for more and forgetting what they have been blessed with. They want a bigger car when they already have a car. Some other people are wishing to have that car you so well disregard.

Don't compare yourself to other people. Don't waste your time trying to keep up with everyone else around you. Focus on what you have and be thankful. Surround yourself in the right environment. Constantly remind yourself that you don't need material things to be happy. Put your trust in God and allow Him to work in you and through you. Allow God to make you become that which He desires for you and everything will turn out His perfect way.

Contentment allows us to be happy and be grateful for the things we have. It helps us find satisfaction in our present circumstances. Contentment help reduces stress, relaxes your body and makes life more delightful. You get to be happy even without more material possessions but rather be satisfied with the ones you already have.

Yes, contentment is not as easy as it sounds but to achieve this, one would need to intentionally shift their mindset, change habits and be more in control of their thoughts and actions. It takes absolute discipline and can be achieved.

The only thing you shouldn't be contented about that I agree within this world is improving yourself. Growing yourself to be better. Improve your skill, yourself and not your possessions. Your focus should be more about advancing yourself and not material things. Invest more on you as a person and not what you wish to own.

Bay leaf is an aromatic leaf commonly used in cooking. Bay leaf is best known in French as Bouquet Garni. Bay leaf is also featured in Spanish, Italian, and creole cooking where it is commonly added to flavour fish and shellfish dishes, such as bouillabaisse. It is also an excellent addition to many soups, stews and sauces. There is a belief that bay leaf must be removed from a dish after cooking because of its stiff edges which can be sharp and can cause a cut in the mouth or throat. The fresh leaves do not develop their full flavour until several weeks after picking and drying. The leaves contain about 1.3% essential oils, consisting of 45% eucalyptol, 12 % other terpenes, linalool, geraniol and some other natural chemical constituents. It also contains lauric acid, a saturated fatty acid which aids in weight loss.

Bay leaves have a sharp bitter taste if eaten. When dried, the fragrance is herbal and somewhat similar to Oregano and Thyme. Myrcene, a component of many essential oils used in perfumery can be extracted from the bay leaf.

USES
They are mostly used in rice dishes like Nigerian party jollof rice.
They are used in soups, stews, meat, seafood, vegetable dishes and sauces.
They can be crushed or ground before cooking. Crushed bay leaves impart more fragrance than whole leaves and do not need to be removed but it is much stronger.
They can be used to repel flies, cockroaches and mice. The vapours they release kill insects slowly yet effectively.

Bay leaves were found to play a role in glucose metabolism. It reduces bad cholesterol levels and increases levels of HDL{(High-density lipoproteins)the good cholesterol} in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Bay leaf inhibits the enzyme known to trigger inflammation. Bay leaf contains Sesquiterpene Lactones, known to fight inflammation by inhibiting the production of nitric oxide which leads to inflammation.

Combats Cancer

Cineole, the main compound in bay leaves was found to suppress the growth of leukaemia cancer cell lines. It is effective in breast cancer therapy. Studies found that the leaf extract induced cell death in breast cancer cell lines.
In an Australian study, the bay leaf had shown positive results in the prevention of colon cancer.

1. The Word of God is one weapon we should employ to win ANY BATTLE. It is abrupt and effective. The word of God emerges with living power. The word of God establishes situations to accommodate you regardless of what you are undergoing.

2. The Name of Jesus is another weapon to fight oppositions and succeed. His name is glorified above authorities, dominion and power. When you are faced with difficulty in life, speak the name of Jesus. Every knee must bow to that name. Quit being anxious and act upon that name. (Proverb 18:10) We have a name and that name is above every other name. Let's enunciate that name according to the authority given to us by God.

3. The Blood of Jesus is a weapon to win battles and the devil knows. The blood of Jesus permits you to have the God kind of life. The blood of Jesus gives us the license to confront all because He has paid the price.

4. Faith - (Ephesians 6:16) Faith is pivotal. It is standing upon the word of God. It is believing the word of God and performing upon it. Faith makes you do something about what you believe and not just acknowledging. It is responding to the word of God and making a commitment according to the word. God has dealt with every one of us a measure of faith. Faith is advancing towards the word of God. Don't look at what transpires around you but glare at the word of God and believe your case is distinct. God kind of faith is a talking faith.

5. Prayer - Our mouth is what we need to bring about what we want. Make proclamations. Believe and begin to declare things. (James 5:16)AMP
Stop thinking about yourself and think about others too. Pray for people.

6. Praise - The weapon of praise is powerful. For when praise ascends, God descends. (2 Chronicles 20:23)
When in trouble or complication, praise the Lord. When you praise, God is not only fighting your battle but He will set something in your hands.

Use these weapons to fight and you shall win. No matter what it may come off now, the weapon to win is made voluntarily. Start using the word of God, start petitioning, start praising, start believing and start using the name of Jesus and you will quell.

HOW TO REMAIN POOR

Remember: it's easy to start, very difficult to maintain, and very, very difficult to grow.

We all know that consistency is very important in succeeding but I can't rule out the fact that God, gives us that ability to be consistent in whatever we do. He gives us the strength, wisdom and the understanding we need to prosper, right?

There are so many ways to remain poor and I will be emphasizing on few steps or ways one can stay poor.

Ingratitude - Oftentimes, we forget that gratitude turns what we have into enough. The more you appreciate things, the more likely you will have even enough to be grateful for. Indeed, we can never truly be satisfied but true contentment is in Christ. We need to switch to that mindset. This world can never give us the satisfaction we desire but in Christ, can we find true contentment yielding to gratification. If you are never grateful for every process and every little step God takes you, you will remain poor. How can He then trust you with the BIG if you don't thank Him enough for the SMALL?

Laziness - A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, and poverty will come upon you like a robber [Proverbs 6:10]. You cannot expect manna to fall down while you sleep all-day. You have to work legally with your hands to prosper. If you are lazy, you will be poor. No lazy person succeeds for God is a worker, so you must work. Even when you decide to search for a job or get busy, do it right away and don't procrastinate. Time waits for no one. The more you procrastinate, the more you are tending towards poverty. Don't just sit there with that certificate waiting for a white-collar job. Go into business, look for a trade, get skilled and get working.

Unwillingness to start small - Disregarding small beginnings will keep you poor. Do not despise your little beginnings. Do not see small beginnings as worthless. Nothing ever grows unless you plant from the ground. The big trees we see were never always big. It grew up from a seed. What is your seed? Do you see it as worthless? Make use of that small in your hands, use that seed you have and God will trust you to give you more. Don't wait until you have much to begin that project. Start with the little you have in your hands and gradually grow. God is waiting for you to begin so He can jump in. Begin where you are and you will not always remain small.

Greed, stinginess and hoarding - Being greedy and ungenerous will keep you poor. Living a fake life to prove a point is unwise. Don't borrow to sustain a fake lifestyle. Where you are right now is not the best place you can be and God is bent on taking you to the next place if only you trust Him. Therefore, don't hoard, don't be greedy, don't seek only for your best interest but that of others as well. Don't withhold knowledge, don't always take the shine but let others shine too and you will definitely prosper.

Wastefulness - We all need financial discipline. Oftentimes, we spend foolishly. Buying things we don't need and most times, to please someone. Wastefulness can lead to poverty. We don't need to put heavy burdens on ourselves. God will take us to the next level gradually so don't rush Him. Don't fall under any competition just a prove a point. We should be financially disciplined if not, we will be poor.

Addictions - Being addicted to something will keep you poor. Be it shopping, gambling, internet and so on. You get to spend on these things which eventually saps all you have, leaving you with nothing but depression. We all have something we are addicted to. Just make sure yours isn't negative/bad and doesn't take away all you have.

We are all working towards perfection yet no one is perfect. We should be wise at all times especially with our money. It isn't easy but possible.

Tara Sheer Finish Powder - This product is suitable for all skin types and has five different shades. It is lightweight and used for setting makeup mostly. It can also be used as a regular powder on foundation, to blend out brow highlighting, to set the concealer or applied directly on the skin.

Tara Dual Powder Palette - We have the half and the full powder palette. The half is 6 shades while the full palette comes in 8 shades of powder. Tara Bronzer - This product comes in three different shades namely; light, medium and dark. It is pigmented and shimmery yet appears natural. Suitable for all skin types.

Tara Stick Concealers - These concealers are beautiful on the skin and provides a flawless finish. They are called Wuse, Mma, Mrembo, Oge, Daaku and Few. The shades are perfect and it covers up flaws or discolourations, leaving the skin even out.

Tara Contour Kit - This kit is handy and comes in two shades; dark and medium. It can be used to set the cream highlight and contour. It can also be worn as an eyeshadow because of its high pigmentation.

Tara Brow Pencils - This product consist of three shades; brown, dark brown and light brown. It is not too firm, neither is it too soft for the brows. It glides perfectly on the skin during application. It is undoubtedly one of the best brow pencils there is and definitely not too pricey.

Tara Brow Highlighter - If you are looking for a mini palette with different highlighting shades, look no further. This particular product is of good quality. It is creamy and can be easily blended. I prefer this creamy brow highlighter to liquids because it can be controlled. If you are not careful while using liquid highlighters, you’ll end up with messy brows and that’s why I opt for this, any day.

Brow Fix - Tara brow fix is transparent and can be used on all brows. It sets the brow in place and makes it appear more natural when applied after makeup.

Tara Eye Shadow Primer - This is one of the best eye primers that has ever lived. Just a minimal application intensifies the eye shadow and it definitely does not crease the eye shadow. It is white in colour and can be used for the water-line area as a white liner.

Retractable Eyeliners - This product comes in different colours like Black, Blue, Midnight Blue, Green, Teal Green and White. The colours are intense and my best is the Teal Green colour. It doesn’t smear or run and can stay for more than 24 hours if not wiped off.

Eye Pencils - We have Kumashe [green], Adire [dark blue] and Dooshima [light blue]. These pencils are sharpenable. The colours are pigmented and it’s not your regular eyeliner. These pencils make the eyes pop and can be used with or without makeup on.

Fibre Fuse Mascara - This product is one of the best mascaras on earth. It adds fibre to your lashes and makes it appear as though, you fixed faux lashes. It only comes in black and has a fat wand.

Volume Boosting Mascara - I love this product! It doesn’t clump or thicken your lashes, yet your lashes appear fuller. It comes in black and blue colours and it has a slimmer wand compared to that of the fibre fuse mascara.

FRK and Margaret Ekpo Eye shadow - This two palette have amazing colours. FRK can be used for a natural/nude look while the other, can be used for magazine shoots, runway or party looks.

Queen Nana and Amina 2 Eye shadows - The eye shadows have 16 different colours and all can be played with. The colours are very pigmented even without an eye primer and can be used to create soft eye makeup or colourful eye makeup.

Tara Eye Makeup Remover - This is one of the newest products and it’s gel-based, fortified with Vitamins. It is best for makeup remover especially for areas around the eyes. It is water-based, lightweight in texture and easily absorbed into the skin. The absence of oil makes it compatible with oily and combination skin.

History and Origin of Finishing Powder.

In the Middle Ages, powder was used to hide natural features on the face, women powdered their faces with flour and used harsh natural bleaches, such as lye, to get rid of freckles. After decades of practice, a white powdered face became the epitome of beauty standards and with it an exclusive and naturally unjust makeup was born.
The white-powdered face also appears in works from the Elizabethan age. It was this time that white powder actually became more common and working class women began to apply flour as white powder to the face. Soon enough, beauty gurus ancestors realized that they had been making a big mistake.

This toxic product killed many society women and ruined the complexion of others.
After 60 years later, an anonymously published book, The Art of Beauty, declared a new theory about makeup; cosmetic products should be used to enhance one's natural beauty instead of hiding flaws.
Makeup powders were used to mattify and reduce shine on the face. It wasn't until the 1920's and 30's that colored powders became popular with brands and in advertisement.
The most common shades were white, natural, flesh, brunette, but some companies had a dozen shades in their powder range. Colored powder changed the makeup game allowing beauty gurus to finally embrace their natural tones.

Finishing powders are used after setting powders mostly to blur fine line and pores; giving extra perfect look. Setting powders are applied after foundation to get rid of shine and set it so that it lasts a long time*can also be tinted/translucent.

History and Origin of Eye-shadows.

In Ancient Greece, Eye shadow was known as 'fucus' and Greek women wore shades of green and blue made out of ultra marine and malachite gemstones.

From there, the custom spread throughout the world and down through history. Today, eye-shadow is still a key element in a woman's makeup kit. Eye shadow formulations start with a base filler; cosmetic-grade talc or mica is a primary filler ingredient* but some formulas use kaolin clay. Beeswax, castor oil, jojoba oil, shea butter and silicone are among the ingredients used for dissolving a shadow. Once the wax or oil dries; the pigment tends to wear longer due to the way the ingredients bond with the skin.

How to use an eye-shadow
Use a firm, small brush to apply on the lid. The stiffer bristles help keep color in place. Use eye base if eye-shadow isn't pigmented. Money in its most basic sense is a medium for measuring value rendered. When you have money, you have a sense of defence; the same way wisdom can also serve as a defence in certain situations. Anyone with true wisdom has money.
Although money is good and a form of defence, it is uncertain. Only put your trust in God, who gave you the ability to make that money.

The customs and tradition we carry make us feel uncomfortable when messages on making money are preached in church, but this shouldn't be so. Without God, there are no true riches. Gods kind of riches bring peace of mind and serve as a tool of impact for those in its procession. God has made a covenant where He declared that we would be blessed, and we'' ll be a blessing to others.

Every child of God has received the power to make wealth. God wants us to have money. Money is a powerful force in the spiritual realm. Despite Judas' position and title, money was a great reproach to him. As children of God, we'll have money as a tool, but we cannot allow money to rule us.

Acknowledge that you have the power to make money. When did you get this power? When you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Believe the best about yourself. Cancel every negative confession.

If you want money to come to you, begin to think and work out ways to add value to society. ''Money responds to value.''

When you enhance your value, you would be better priced. The marketplace is where your value will be weighed. Value in this situation means your ability to seek out things, to provide a solution.

In other to make money, you must be a person of value.

Work on your self and become valuable. At every level of life, if you make yourself valuable, the money will flow to you.

How do we make money?

Seek knowledge of money and opportunities. Sharpen yourself in every way possible. Seek information from those who are succeeding with money. Of what use is pride to someone that goes begging? Be humble and add value.

What do you have in your hand? What are your talents, gifts and inheritances? What are you passionate about? What do you love to do even without being paid? What can you do; that is your access to money. That is the power he has given you to create wealth. Don't belittle yourself. Maximize the gifts and talents God has bestowed on you.

Think big but be willing and ready to start small. Think global but be willing to start local. Do not despise your early days, be consistent and grow steadily.

Begin to add value, get up and solve problems. Market yourself and get yourself known. Be willing to do some free jobs at the initial stage until you are known. Invest in reaching out to your target audience. Put yourself in their faces, don't get discouraged when you receive a NO at the beginning. Be consistent and add excellence to everything you do. Put all of these into practice and see how far God would take you in life.

Your ability to solve problems is what makes you a person of value. Everyone has something they are good at, think deep and look within yourself; make the best use of it to create wealth.

The word addict was adapted from the Latin word "addico" meaning assigned or surrendered, to devote; so an addict is someone who is ridiculously devoted to something.

Addiction can mean many things to different people. It is the repeated involvement with something or someone or the long term inability to abstain from something or someone.

According to medical news today, Addiction is a psychological and physical inability to stop consuming a chemical, drug, activity, or substance, even though it is causing psychological and physical harm.
Some addictions also involve an inability to stop partaking in activities, such as gambling, eating, or working. In these circumstances, a person has a behavioural addiction.

We see most of these every day and sometimes it feels normal. Staying out late or sleeping out every day because of football or gambling, for example, is not normal. Some addiction like lying unnecessarily cannot be overemphasized upon as it is disregarded more often than not, but understanding the addictive process; the danger signs it possesses can help you to tell the difference between addiction and healthy behaviour.

DIFFERENT WAYS TO DISCOVER YOU'RE ADDICTED TO SOMETHING

When you spend most of your time engaging in the behaviour- thinking or planning to engage in the behaviour.
When you become dependent on the behaviour to cope with emotions and feel fulfilled.
When you continue in the behaviour despite the physical or mental harm.
When you have trouble cutting back despite wanting to stop.
Neglecting work, school or family to engage in the behaviour more often.
Experiencing symptoms of withdrawal like depression when trying to stop.
Minimizing or hiding the extent of the problem.

If you are experiencing all these or any of this, then you might be addicted to something. It can be a problem to admit it to yourself, let alone anyone else.

There are ways you could attempt to disseminate the addiction in order to get help, that's if you are ready to deal with it.

Firstly, you have to admit you have the problem before considering these treatments;

Counselling
Self-help groups
Medications
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - In a nutshell, this helps you manage problems by changing the way you think or behave.
Long-term follow up to prevent relapse.

Quite a number of people will and has encountered some kind of addiction and the good thing is that it can be stopped. Take my self for example; "I was once addicted to clubbing and pornography which then leads to masturbation. I had friends who encourage me to engage in clubbing/partying. We literally went clubbing every day including Sundays and Mondays. It didn't feel wrong at the time. We were even known for that in the neighbourhood because we get back at odd hours when people are probably heading to work, or still sleeping. Talk of pornography; I would spend hours on my phone, surfing the net for X-rated films. When I get hold of a laptop, the next thing I do is search for porn to engage my self in. Again, it didn't feel wrong at the time. Subsequently, I had to seek help first from God. Then, I admitted the problem to the church group I attended. You need to want help before it can be given. Today, I am free from both addictions. I haven't gone clubbing for a day since 2015, which makes it 4 years now. I haven't masturbated since 2014 after I gave my life to Christ and I didn't need medication or counselling for that, just got help from the Holy Spirit. Your case might be different, but know this, you can be free too.''

HOW TO NOT RELAPSE

Going back is bound to happen if you don't decide today;

- To avoid friends and activities that remind you of your addiction. ''I had to cut off some friends and even relocated, just to get my head clear. You know what you have to do, so do it."

- Discuss the addiction with someone.

- Take your medication.

- Avoid locations where it may be tempting for you.

- Develop a positive support network.

Every day of your new life is a step in the right direction. If you are able to get clean, you can do it again. Begin working your recovery program again; if you are relapsing. Reach out to the support system and start processing the emotions that led you to relapse. Learn from your mistakes and strive to move forward the best way possible. Remember, you are not alone. There are thousands of people struggling like you, so seek help now.
