But I did!  Furniture got moved all around.  Art arrangements were hung.  Art walls are a challenge . For me it is always a big experiment in balance.  Still tweaking, but I’m glad I’ve at least made a few holes.

Also, Pillows were styled.  I had myself a grand experiment, grabbing every pillow in the house and piling them on the living room rug.  I mixed and matched and cocked my head and analyzed how each arrangement brought a different personality to the room.  Pretty much every pillow I own looks good in my living room.  I guess that’s the joy of a neutral backdrop.   While each of the rooms in my house are distinct, I am able to intermix pillows between them to switch up the look of the space.  I felt the urge to mix it up and now my bedroom, guest room and living room have their summer makeovers.  Shopping in ones own home can be quite fun.

I’m still tweaking the final arrangement, but in the meanwhile, here are a few pairings that I thought were cute.

If you are using 4 pillows on your sofa, match the two large ones and mix up the smaller ones in the front.  I did two different black pillows in different shape configurations.

When mixing three pillows, try a large square, medium square and medium lumbar (I like 24×24, 18×18 and 12×24.)

You don’t have to match any pillows, just mix in texture and pick patterns of a similar color.  The pillows below all have that warm carmel color, unifying them and keeping the sofa from looking too busy.

The last one is how I’ve had it for the past several weeks.

Now it’s all different.  Different pillows, sconces hung, art adjusted, furniture moved…

I’m telling you, I got a lot done this weekend.  Yet I feel calm and restored.

I think decorating is meditative for me.

The pendants are by Shades Of Light and you can find them HERE.  At $199 each I thought they were a great price and nice quality.   I have two sticking points about the lights.  One, they take candelabra bulbs (60watt) which is a pain in the ass.  And two, the brass portion fully encloses the light so you aren’t going to get as bright of an illumination as with a fully glass pendant.  These pendants do not put out bright light.  I use them for ambiance or in combination with my recessed lights.  I wouldn’t use them alone to do prep work.  I still really love them and have no regrets, but I thought I would mention it if you are considering it and your space does not have alternate forms of lighting.

We are continuing on with Lighting Week.  On Monday I showed you my guest room plug-in pendant light, on Tuesday I revealed my bedroom glass chip chandelier, and today I’m sharing my stringball chandelier in the third floor lounge.  I’ve posted about this light before, but I thought it would interesting to see it in context.  This room is still pretty much an empty canvas.  After I removed all of the walls and painted the floors and ceiling white, I’ve pretty much let it sit in this state.  It will probably be the last room I finish and I’m ashamed to say I don’t spend much time up here because it is such a cute space.

This room is all about being white and bright with pops of color and texture.  My stringball chandelier was perfect up here because it adds a nice modern touch while also being textural and organic.  While unlit, it is an unassuming little sculpture, but when illuminated, it transforms this space into a cozy crystal.

I did not DIY this light, but there are many tutorials out there.

I bought mine while shopping at Structube in Canada.

As I mentioned, the light is at its best when lit- creating a dream like space.

Unfortunately I do not have the photographic skillz to capture the beauty.

There is a lot more to be done in this room, but that’s OK.  I’ll get to it when I get to it.

In the meanwhile, it’s a good spot for a pug to nap.
