Introducing the new Search Console (beta)

Search Console is introducing a redesigned product to help you manage your presence on Google Search. The new Search Console was rebuilt from the ground up to provide the tools and insights that site owners and SEOs have been asking for. You can now confirm which of your pages are indexed and get information on how to fix indexing errors. You can also monitor your performance on Google Search with 16-months of data (to enable year-over-year comparisons).

We recommend checking your current status using the new Search Console today, as we will only notify you if your site data changes from the current state.

Samsung Galaxy S

February 23, 2011 at 4:19 PM

Since the Samsung Galaxy S, Samsung’s most popular Android phone, has been released there has been a great deal of talk, from both phone reviewers and by members of the general public who have bought the phone about it being one of the best smartphones on the market. I have to admit that I do agree with this assertion, the Galaxy S is a fantastic handset. But what is it that makes the phone so good, and why is it better than other phones on the market? Here are some of the better features on Samsung’s flagship phone that will hopefully help you realize just why this is thought of as a very special mobile indeed.

Firstly, the phone has a more than impressive camera. This has become something that is very important to mobile phone owners over the last decade and customers will no longer settle for a below par camera. Although the Galaxy S does not rival the Nokia N8, for example, in terms of mobile phone cameras it does boast a great 5 mega pixel camera with 2592 x 1944 pixels and features such as autofocus, geo-tagging and face and smile detection so you can just snap away to your heart's content.

Google Maps is another feature that comes with the phone as standard and, as anyone who has ever used the service on Google’s website will know, is a fantastic little application. Google maps will use the phones GPRS and 3G signal to find your location and you will be able use the application to navigate, something that I must admit has helped me in the past! You can also find places wherever and whenever you are, allowing you to plan journeys in advance or just browse the incredible amount of maps if that is what interests you.

Finally there is the Social Hub, a real master stroke as it allows you to stay in contact with your friends and family at all times by utilising the social networking aspects of the internet and combining them for ease of use.

Check out the latest offers on the Samsun Galaxy S at Phones4u.co.uk and get yourself a fantastic deal today!

Blackberry Smartphones

February 23, 2011 at 12:52 PM

Anyone who knows anything about mobile phones will know about Blackberry. The mobiles, best known for their business features and their peerless email and messaging services, have become one of the most popular ranges of mobiles since their launch in 1999. The firm that develops the Blackberry, Research in Motion, a Canadian electronics company, is less well known but should none the less be applauded for their continuing development of impressive hardware and efficient software that has gathered an army of fans over the last decade.

RIM first developed a Blackberry device at the end of the 20th century, releasing a two way pager that was known as the 850 and first stamping their mark on the world of communications. The first smartphone to be developed by the company was the real beginning of big things for RIM though.

Released in 2002, the 5810 ran on Java and included such features as push e mail, web browsing, internet faxing and, of course, mobile telephone. This could truly be considered a ground breaking model but Blackberry in 2002 was very different than it is today. The 5810 and it’s contemporaries were aimed entirely at the business market but it is RIM’s move into the general public that has seen them truly become big players in the mobile phone business.

Blackberry is now one of the most popular mobile phone ranges all over the world and they contain far more than the business features that made them famous previously. Features such as touch screen displays, optical trackpads – which replaced the extremely popular trackballs that used to be common on Blackberry mobile devices – and top social networking features are common on Blackberry phones, showing just how far the range has come along in the last 9 years.

One of the latest phones to come out in the Blackberry range is the Blackberry Pearl. First developed in 2006, the Pearl has been redeveloped several times and the latest model, the 9100 boasts the optical trackpad, full e-mailing and messaging services from Blackberry and a 3.2 megapixel camera. This shows that the future looks just as impressive as the past for Blackberry.

Visit http://www.dialaphone.co.uk and find out more about the Blackberry Pearl.

Duke Nukem Forever Finally Demos
5 Sep 2010, 7:13 am

Game developer Gearbox Software shocked the PAX Penny Arcade Expo conference when they announced that they would be developing the perpetually delayed Duke Nukem’ Forever. According to the press release, the title will launch in 2011 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today that forever is nearly here, as Duke Nukem Forever® will officially make its long-awaited debut for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC in calendar 2011. Duke Nukem, the interactive entertainment industry’s most irreverent and quoted character of all time, will bring his signature brand of babe-lovin’, cigar-smoking, beer-chugging and ass-kicking action as he once again saves the Earth and our babes from hordes of invading aliens.

Check out Pikimal’s visit to the DNF booth, and these reviews. Joystiq in their Duke Nukem Forever preview says “after 13 years in development, and then being pronounced dead, Gearbox has performed something of a miracle here.” The bad boys at Destructoid confess that “Duke Nukem Forever is something special indeed. Tits and pigs and kicking eyes like footballs conspire to make this a serious game of the show contender for me.” And Kotaku calls it “the king returned as if through a time machine.”

Boing Boing Gadgets: In future America, car stops you.

Boing Boing Gadgets

In future America, car stops you.
2 Oct 2009, 9:58 pm

To wrap up our visit to its R&D lab in Palo Alto, Mercedes-Benz's Gordon Peredo demonstrated "Smart Stop," a wireless safety system that stops cars automatically when the driver fails to heed a red light.

The technology isn't headed to production vehicles in the immediate future. Having it work in the real world depends on the existence of smart intersections -- which means cooperation from Congress, regional/local governments and the rest of the industry. Moreover, upgrading America's intersections won't come cheap.

Disclosure: Mercedes-Benz is a sponsor of BBG. Last week, we drove the new E-Class and were the first bloggers or journalists to get a look inside their North American R&D lab. Mercedes-Benz has no editorial involvement in the items we post about the visit .

Apart from a few trial installations, it could be ten years or more before the technology is standardized and available nationwide. When implemented, it won't just be about safety: cars that include the wireless transceivers can conduct a "conversation" with one other to share realtime local traffic data, as well as to warn the driver if he or she is accelerating into a stop light.

Current-gen driver-assisting systems include lane assist, to warn of dangerous drifting; a proximity detector that keeps an eye on blind spots; and steering-wheel sensors able to detect hand movement characteristic of sleepy drivers.

Those who prefer to go without can turn off "assistance," and Mercedes-Benz says this'll remain true in future generations of it cars. "Safety" features like the Smart Stop systems -- which already brake automatically to prevent imminent rear-end collisions -- are always on.

Cars! Mercedes' future wireless entertainment tech
2 Oct 2009, 3:52 pm

Dr. Kal Mos, Engineering Director for Mercedes-Benz R&D, North America, demonstrates future in-vehicle entertainment and information systems at the company's Palo Alto lab.

In the fourth post from our visit to Mercedes' North American research lab in Palo Alto (Disclosure: MB is a sponsor of BBG), we discover that COMAND's next-gen media streaming user interface is uninviting (and unfinalized) but effective: think the 1990s web, but with modern features like high-def YouTube videos, Facebook or Twitter integration, and Google or Mapquest Maps.

As these features rely on more consistently available and faster networks than what we have today, it'll be introduced when a next-gen cellular network (i.e. LTE) is live in the USA. Mercedes-Benz cars in Europe, however, will be ahead of the game, as LTE 4G cellular networks are set to go live next year.

Some features are disabled while the vehicle is in motion, to ensure that the driver is not distracted. Most intriguing are plans for an app store operating along similar lines to Apple's. Developers will be free to create new programs that run in-dash. APIs, however, will be strict: if you think Cupertino keeps a close an eye on its devs, look away now.

Joey Roth, designer of the wonderful Sorapot, has a new creation: Ceramic Speakers.

As you can see, it's a speaker system made from porcelain, cork, and maple wood. I wanted to reduce the speaker system to its most simple form, using raw materials that show their natural beauty and aren't usually associated with electronics.

Gorgeous, but quite beyond my price range! Roth is soliciting pre-orders for the first run, which is of just 200 pairs. They are $495 a set. Specs.

From the Cincinatti Inquirer:

A clerk at the Apple Store in Kenwood Towne Centre kept a cool head when a customer reportedly took his frustration with his iPhone too far. Hamilton County sheriff's deputies say Donald Goodrich, 38, took his phone into the store and told the clerk, "I'm so mad I could pop a 9mm at it. I could really do it right now, look!"

Play back the quote in your head, but with Christopher Walken's voice.
