Sports Fans Are Boston Strong

It was an excruciating week for the city of Boston and Americans throughout the country as we witnessed the horror of the Boston Marathon bombings. In times of tragedy, people come together for support and sports provides a forum for some very special moments.

In a moving tribute to the victims, the New York Yankees played "Sweet Caroline" during a home game on April 16, the signature song of their longtime rivals, the Boston Red Sox. Other baseball parks around the country followed suit. After cancelled games leading up to the dramatic capture of suspect #2, the Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins resumed play on April 20, signifying the city's collective sigh of relief after a terrifying week.

Fans of Boston sports teams are prouder than ever because their connection now transcends a game - it honors those who lost, those who risked their lives and those who face new challenges following this tragedy.
