Gays against Conservatives

Change is constant, change is important. But do the Gays in our society today have the right to flaunt what they feel? Do they have the luxury of making their dreams into reality? ~~To love and to be loved freely.~~

Philippines is still enveloped by bourgeois acts leading into hilarious judgments and of course things that are obscene. Literally gays in our society are still facing a great battle and that is dealing with people who are hard to pleased and those who felt clean. But in my 21 years of existence I have seen a bit of a change, slowly people are a little bit of open and considerate towards what gays feel.

Things that they love, things that they wanted to do freely. But the real change is still can't be grasp.

My friend Mark is still frightened, he is still afraid of his past that made him traumatized. It started with a confession to his father, confessing that he is gay. He thought that when he confessed and if he would tell his father about his sexuality, he will be free from the burden he's been carrying for almost half of his life. But it was a terrible move. He was battered and beaten badly.

He forced to move out from his father's house, slept and live on the road. His father was a police, and he dreamt of letting his son followed his footstep. But he failed, since Mark wants to pursue his fashion designing dream.

"It is hard to reckoned what had happened in the past, how did I survived, and how did I strive to be free from the cruelty of the society. Gays are treated badly. Gays are battered and beaten. We are forced to act like a real man so that we will never suffer from the hands of our perpetrators. It is like living in hell." As Mark continue.

Gays are the most at risk people who suffer from cruelty. They are the ones who are weak, and they are the ones who wanted to love freely-but in return they are the ones who are beaten. How unfair the society is? Are they criminals? They just wanted to live a normal life, to love and to make things extraordinary.

As our society is trying to grasp and adapt the change that gays wanted to have, we have to expect that many people will still judge throw morbid words to the gays. But as we are fully aware of equality and justice, let the change manifests its essence.That is to live and to love freely. Philippines is a democratic country, so let the democracy happened!

Well for me blogging is something I look forward to each day, it is like an alter ego of mine. A memoir of my daily dose, be it in adventure, lessons in life, nonsensical posts that gives me excitement every time I do it. But I never get bored nor tired of repeating it. As what I have said it's my alter ego. A picture that depicts life fruitfulness. Blogging is fun!

What makes it even sweeter is the add ons in blogging. I started my writing in blogadvertisingstore.com mid of last year, I google advertising sites that offers some extra for people who are boring and who wants to earn extra income by posting on their blogs. I am one of those riffraff who is on the hunt of sites that gives great compensation. Google gave me so much, but in the end, it never give me satisfaction. Until I click on this site and boom, things had changed.

At first I was hesitant, but due to my curiosity, I signed up. After a day, I received lots of offers coming from this wonderful site. I was stunned, was really amazed seeing their tons of offers all lined up for me to get it. It's up for grab you know.

Til now, I am still writing for this amazing site and I guess it will always be. I will be a loyal writer for them!

Brillante Mendoza‘s film called Captive has been chosen to compete in the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival. Formerly called Prey, the film stars French actress Isabelle Huppert, Sid Lucero, and Angel Aquino, among others. The said film fest will take place in Germany from February 9 to 19, 2012.
The Berlin International Film Festival has just announced the first five films lined up for the Competition and five more for the Berlinale Special.

Update: The Berlinale's also announced that the members of the International Jury, presided over by Mike Leigh, will be Anton Corbijn, Asghar Farhadi, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Jake Gyllenhaal, François Ozon, Boualem Sansal and Barbara Sukowa.

World AIDS Day 2011

December 1 2011, marks another milestone of beating the epidemic that is brought to us by HIV/AIDS. The whole world was celebrating it with a theme : “Getting to Zero.” Zero New HIV Infections.
Zero Discrimination and Zero AIDS Related Deaths."

In Davao City which is now the 3rd of the most numbers of people who were infected of HIV/AIDS in the Philippines has organized a run for a cause THE RUN FOR LIFE, this is for the benefit of people living with HIV/AIDS, co-founded by City Health office of Davao City, ALAGAD Mindanao, MAAA to make this event successful on December 4, 2011.

The proceeds on the said fun-run will be going to the health and welfare of the people living with HIV/AIDS. in Davao City alone, 187 people who were diagnosed of HIV. With this years' theme, the City Health of Davao is aiming to maintain of even reduced the numbers of people who might be at risk of this epidemic.

Through Peer Education, Public and Private workshops conducted on the whole city. Davao city aimed to empowered young adults, to be aware of protecting themselves through :

Abstain from having sex if not ready
Be faithful. Be monogamous
Correct and consistent use of condoms
Do not use illegal drugs
Education

The City Health of Davao is giving free condoms and lubricants, as well as free consultation and anti-body testing ( HIV/AIDS).

Beating the Odds..

Everyone tend to say opinions about how gay communities should behaved and how to express their personal ideas of what is life and what is society on their own ways. As the world is not convince and has remained conservative on its shallow way, judgmental minds and a crocodile eyes are lurking around to bully, prejudge and of course to stay against gay community on expressing the freedom that they have longed for. And this happened to my friend Jeff.

Jeff is an open gay, has proclaimed it to the whole world that "he is gay." His family are quite accepting to this matter, without hatred and prejudging attitude Jeff was dearly accepted wholeheartedly. For Jeff it is the best moment of his life, being accepted by his family and to celebrate the freedom that he has longed for. To be free and to love with his the same sexuality. But his struggle has never end there.

While busy buying food for his family, he was approached by somebody whom he recalled as not familiar to him and abruptly bullied and yelled. The lady told him such morbid lines and even pin pointed him as delirious self proclaimed gay, and that he is a sinister in this town. Almost everyone in the market watched him left teary eyed, shaking and gasping for air. He felt so ashamed and down.

He never tell the happenings to his family and had remained mum about the issue. He is a Muslim, as per Jeff being a gay on their society is a huge dealings that would put him and his family in danger. Might be his family accepted him dearly but the conservativism attitude of the society that he is in can brought him to danger or worse comes to worst his death. And Jeff has created a very well written blog about gays and how they skirmish life and battled for their respective rights live and the freedom that they should fairly obtained. Check it out!

But Jeff is destined to change the view of gays on his community. He is now a head of a "Non Government Organization" fighting for gay rights in his town. And that Jeff happily ever after. A proud and dignified gay advocate.

Angelina Jolie's Directorial Debut!

When Angelina Jolie was picking a title for her directorial debut, which is a love story between a Serbian soldier and a Muslim woman during the Bosnian War, she admitted that she struggled with deciding on just the right name. "It's a heavy film," she said. "You want to find that title that really helps the audience know what they're walking into." So calling it "In the Land of Blood and Honey" definitely suggests this romantic drama won't be a walk in the park -- especially after rumors started circulating that the Serbian character rapes the woman.

Today we saw our first trailer for the film, which Jolie doesn't star in. And from everything we see here, yes, it's going to be a very, very heavy film. But it looks like the producers are hoping that a strong romance at the center might make it a little more palatable to audiences.

The trailer leans heavily on the complicated relationship between the woman (Zana Marjanovic) and her Serbian captor (Goran Kostic). There's a clear attraction between them, but because they're on opposite sides of the conflict, can they ever trust one another? Meanwhile, the Bosnian War rages around them, and it appears that "In the Land of Blood and Honey" will be bigger in scope than may have been expected, including battle scenes. Tying it all together is a haunting piano score and words across the screen that read "Love can change what we want" and "War can change who we are."

In other words, Jolie and FilmDistrict (which is putting out the movie in late December) know that their movie isn't going to be for everyone. There aren't any stars in front of the camera, and the Bosnian War isn't a conflict that's as well known (at least to American audiences) as either World War. But from the beginning, Jolie has insisted that her movie had universal themes concerning "how human relationships and behavior are deeply affected by living inside a war." This trailer nails that tone exactly right. Despite all the controversy the movie had to endure before anyone had seen any of it, "In the Land of Blood and Honey" from these few minutes of footage looks very much like the sort of prestige picture that Oscar voters love. The trailer takes what could be a difficult sell and packages it in a way awards-season audiences can easily recognize. Now we'll have to see how the finished product delivers on that promise.

BRACES for Fashion?

There are some of those who got braces, yes they thought it gives them such good appeal, confidence and stuff. Main goal of having braces is to straightened your teeth, to make it look presentable. I agree to this kind of procedure.

But there are those who thought that having braces will give them an edge. But it turns out to be drastic transformation, those unclean teeth and residue of some stuff he/she had eaten this morning, with a yellowish ewwy that is swagging when they smile. Gosh man, you gotta be kidding me. Go rushed yourself to the dentist and let 'em fix it.

The reason why we need to have braces is to make our smile perfectly. I don't have any intention to wreck those people who wants to have that. But sometimes, we need to take some considerations that, once you started the procedure you are oblige to go back to the dentist every month for cleaning, observations (if the deformed ones) are now on its proper place. And also to make your treatment faster. Love your teeth..

To those who wants braces as "fashion statement" whoa whoa! the heck! You should removed it and let your teeth be free from those barrier that gives you more drastic looking and dirty smile.

Take note: Braces are not good for gay or even for girls. Why?

Filipinos must watch this movie, not just another Hollywood film epic ism, but this is another celebration of every Filipinos who make it in Hollywood.

Marife Necisito who starred in some notable films on silver screen got a huge break internationally, and co-starring Michelle Williams(Blue Valentine) and Mexican Heartthrob Gael Garcia Bernal (Letters to Juliet). As far as we could remember, Michelle was nominated in her portrayal in the said movie Blue Valentine. Marife just can't describe the feeling of bugging the key role in this modern family drama with an internationally acclaimed director Lukas Moodysson (Together and Lil Ja 4ever).

Necisito was also nominated on our local award giving body as best supporting actress in the said movie. Let us support her and pray for the success of her Hollywood film.
