This is what I wore when I spent the weekend with one of my most effortlessly cool friends and upon my pre-outfit panic, she just threw together this ensemble for me. Crisis averted. We had a great afternoon wandering around downtown together and I felt oh so cute, and to my surprise it was literally effortless. Now why couldn't I have thought of this?! I guess I should have her come over everyday!

And here is why: Remember I disclosed about my long appearing feet. Well men's shoes do not look good on feet that are not dainty. But these, these have a less structured body which hug your feet making the masculine shoe trend just feminine enough without losing the whole manly point. MY MISTER'S CLOSET MONDAY

So, you know how I said that I had created a Mister Monster? I wasn't kidding! Here is why { and how } it all happened.

Lululemon has become my uniform. Whether or not it is appropriate on a daily { get coffee, run errands, client meeting, grab dinner } basis is up for debate....well no it's not. But like my father has always told me, "Don't ask questions for answers you don't want to hear," I have canceled the debate.

So, seeing as that I am on a daily Lulu prescription I got a lot of gripe from my Mister about how expensive my "work out" cloths are. I use the term "work out" loosely seeing as how I have only set foot in a gym three times since we moved to NYC. But being the resourceful Misses that I am, I have worked out a plan that actually works in my Lulu habit favor.

My Mister and I always give each other little non-Valentine's Valentine's Day treats { never on the day of and our tradition: dinner the night before pizza delivery the night of }. Knowing that the flame was already lit by his friends who have been ~~macho enough to wear~~ raving about their pants for ages, this year I gave him pants and a jacket from Lulu. I could see the twinkle in his eye before he even finished zipping up his new jacket, and that was it. He had to get his pants hemmed and upon that Lulu visit he left with another pair of pants and another jacket. Of course those pants needed to be hemmed and he left with a pair of shorts upon that visit. It's a viscous cycle and now I just tag along with him on his hemming "appointments" and feeling too guilty to only buy for himself I throw in my picks without a word of resistance. I. Am. A. Genius!

I know this was an novel of a post but I just have one more thing to get off my chest. Do any of you have trouble finding your size in stores....and when you check online to try and track it down there you can't even find the item?! As much as I love me some Lulu it almost makes me not even want to go in, in fear I will get my heart set on something only to have it broken when my size is no where to be found. I said almost.

Sorry this post is later than my normal 7 AM posting time. Don't worry, I write them the night before and schedule to have them posted in the morning. I am notorious in my family for not being a morning person. ~~Sarcastically~~ lovingly called "Sunshine" by my nearest and dearest. I digress. The point of this blog post is to tell you that I met a woman I wish were my friend and more importantly she was wearing this here ring.

As you all may or may not know my Mister and I moved from LA to NYC about a year and a half ago. We knew less than a hand full of people on the East Coast so with the majority of our friends being on the West Coast beggars can't be choosers when it comes to the friend department.

Typically I am not one to beg but I would to be this woman's friend. Lets call her Miss Lulu. See, I met her in Lululemon last weekend when the Mister and I went in to get a pair of his pants hemmed { Now that right there is a whole series of blog posts that I just can't wait to share with you. I have created quite the Mister Monster, and I love it. More on that later. }.

Anywho, the woman helping us was awesome. I don't know why but we just seemed to hit it off. And she was wearing this ring. I felt like we were old palls because before I realized that my Mister was sneaking ~~another~~ a shorts purchase I was walking around the store with her ring on my finger, looking at my hand in all the mirrors I passed and talking life with my new perfectly bobbed friend.

Now, the point of this long winded story is that I typically don't do the whole David Yurman thing but this ring was amazing on Miss Lulu and totally caught my eye. It was a bit rocker chic on her Lulu clad self. Maybe that is why I was initially drawn to her...who knows.

Upon my return home { plus one new pair of men's seersucker Lulu shorts later } I stalked this ring and am now sharing it with you. Honestly, the picture does not do it justice.

P.S. I may or may not have offered to pick up my Mister's hemmed pants just at the chance of running into my new best friend. She wasn't working that day. Must not be meant to be. I begged, but I can't choose.

My Mister...you can blame Misses L for this one.

One of my closest girlfriends, Misses L, sent me this blog post with this { below } AHHHmazing hand bag. Not only am I now obsessed with it but the green color is so her color. It is another sign. Another sign that this bag was meant to be hers!

And here is another sign that this bag { below } was meant to be mine too! I have been wanting a blue handbag but when it comes time to invest in one I always get black or brown. I tend to play it safe when I am throwing down such a large chunk of change. But hey, I think it is time that I branch out a bit. Plus I am always in jeans so this blue color will play as a neutral, just like my denim does, right? And...it is not too terribly bad. I mean, yes it is expensive, but I do have a soulmeighbor who has a collection { yes, a collection } of Birkin beauties. So if I just reference that in the same sentence, comparatively speaking, I am totally reasonable here.

Note: Misses L and I discussed that the only way to carry this bag is with it all unzipped { like in the green image }. Zipped up it is a totally different bag. Which is helpful to my cause actually. It's way more conservative that way. And { ! } it even comes with a strap to wear over your shoulder or across your body. So basically, its three bags in one which makes it a very reasonable $283 a piece. Yes!

A little tidbit about me { the Misses } is that I like to peruse Polyvore, especially when I need help creating an outfit or inspiration for a specific item. So, I thought it was high time that I begin to build my own "sets" to not only share with you but catalog for myself.

As you already know, I had a weak moment last Friday. As much as I love my new red pumps it has been really hard for me to visualize an outfit for them. So off to Polyvore I went and below are two outfits I came up with.

If you know me then you know I live in my J Brand jeans, like really, every day. I already have a black shall collar blazer and now my new red pumps so I am feeling good about what I pulled together below. The only things that I ~~might~~ will need to break down and buy are those two tops that I am now totally obsessed with. I really did try to concoct an outfit using only items I had in my closet, really, I did try.

Now remember when I said that my new Irina Pumps were so comfortable I would even be willing to wear them to walk around in? I wasn't kidding. They are! This outfit would be great for running around in during the day...say maybe this spring { um, as in starting two days ago! } or this coming fall. So perfect actually that the tee top may or may not be on its way to me now.

I have been loving navy and black together recently { the rule I referred to breaking yesterday }. I remember watching my mother get dressed for work when I was younger. She would explain to me that she needed navy shoes to go with her blue suit because black and blue just do not go together. And after all these years, only now am I starting to rethink that silly rule of hers. I think this set would be perfect for a fall dinner out, don't you?

I definitely need some accessories, don't you think? Probably the hardest part of an outfit for me. Any suggestions you have to offer are welcomed, so lay 'em on me please!

Now this outfit I wore this weekend when I went to UFC with my Mister. Do any of you know what that is? I didn't until this weekend { happy googling to you }. Anyway, I needed to fit in with that crowd yet still feel like myself. One of my hottest, cutest and best dressed friends suggested an all black outfit to really make my red shoes pop. I kept the jewelry to a minimum so that I could have the ultimate accessory: red lips { also at the suggestion of Miss Hotness }. I'll admit, I felt hot, but I also felt like I was wearing a Halloween costume where I was the only one dressed up. On the upside { for my Mister }, all of these items were already in my closet { including this one!!! }. That may be a first, but it's a start!

In re-reading this post I am a little bit ~~underwhelmed~~ embarrassed that these are the lame outfits that I came up with for my new Dorthy shoes. This is the gift that I regret not giving. My Mister is obsessed with brown and black together. I think he thinks that by featuring both colors it will "go with everything" { Yes, that was a direct quote and no I am not going to state the obvious. I know, you all know, that I know that is not true. } And yes this bag may technically be considered an "espresso" color but it is so dark it gives off the same effect. Which is why when I finally got it together to purchase it for my Mister, it was of course, sold out...everywhere. Just my luck. Lesson learned though. My Mister is so hard to buy for so when I see something, I just need to get it on the spot.

Now ladies, I don't know if you have discovered the power of shopping on Amazon yet or not { I mean, it was first introduced to me when I met my Mister, so really he should blame himself and not me for this ~~post~~ purchase }, but it is, to say the least, AH! MAZE! ING! Really. And, if you sign up for Amazon Prime you get free 2 day shipping. I have already turned my girlfriends onto this. But, I digress.

The point of telling you all of this is that I got these babies on major sale and I tell you they are, in a word, perfect! I had been pining over them every time I walked into Bloomies. I finally broke down and did a little internet search on my own and that is when I found that they were practically paying me to take them off of their hands.

They are intimidatingly high yet surprisingly easy to walk in. Kid you not. And at that steal of a price, I splurged on the red. I plan to wear them on my next date, which inevitably means walking five blocks { at the very least } to the subway. I swear to the shoe gods I will be able to keep up with my Mister without a hitch in my high-heeled-giddy-up or breaking a sweat for that matter { both of which have happened a time or two }.

I have had my eyes on these boots and watched them go on sale from 30 percent to 50 percent and now 70 percent off. Down from $600+ these boots are a steal! And my size has been holding strong in stock. Isn't that a sign? I need a pair of high heeled boots. I only have flats. If it weren't for promising my Mister that I would seriously stop shopping when I bought these, they would already be on their way. It's such a good deal, they really should be!

And though a lot of the aesthetic is different than my own I do stumble upon some real gems. Like this one for example! Plus, I love how they decode what celebrities are wearing. Brilliant and so helpful!

Now, I am always looking for disposable outfits for the spontaneous Vegas trips with my girlfriends { when are you too old for those by the way? }. Speaking of, ladies...it's been way too long. You know, the outfits that you buy for less than $20 at Forever 21 because you need something slutty and something you can dance in worry free through spilled cocktails. Well this is perfect! Though on the pricier side for a club outfit { though I still think less than $100 is a pretty good deal } I think I would actually keep this one instead of leaving it a pile on the floor upon check out. It's super cute and actually more my style { the disposable outfits tend to be nothing I would ever pick out under normal circumstances so I tend to not feel my absolute cutest in them, if you must know. And that puts a damper on the whole event before it even gets started. }. I love it with the nude belt especially! And if I was feeling particularly daring, I could even wear it with my red Pour La Victoire pumps I just got! Ooo! I think I just made an outfit and spoiled Friday's profession!

Whoa! Don't be blinded by the sudden shock of color on this blog. I do like it every now and again though it may not seem that way as you scroll through my posts. Let me just say that black, white and { most importantly } gray { though I like to spell it grey } are most definitely colors, I don't care what anyone else says.

And P.S....I met my Mister on the dance floor in Vegas...in one of these very disposable outfits. Though for some reason I kept that one. Must have been my killer instincts. And now, it is a great memento never to be worn again.

I don't know if you are still thinking about the debacle that I am in or not. I for one, have not stopped thinking about it, of course.

I have been loving the leather pants look that is popular as of late but am just personally not able to commit to leather bottoms. So, I really do think that this is the perfect solution. They have a sheen, giving a leather look without being the real thing or nasty pleather for that matter. Am I right, or am I right?

Quick update: We are back from our long weekend away with my Mister's work friend and their friends. Now that the weekend is over I can tell you that it was a { AMAZING! } surprise birthday for the coworker's Misses. And in case you were wondering, I was right, there was definitely a one piece presence there. Just as I had predicted. I was not the most comfortable in my little bikini attire, but my vitamin D cup runnith over and I am a much happier camper.

Even my Mister got himself a little shouvenir { shoe + souvenir } when we visited my mecca and I was happy to oblige. I swiftly handed over my Nordstrom card for the purchase and am now patiently awaiting my "Nordstrom Notes" arrival in the mail...any day now.

And can I just tell you how proud I am of my Mister? People often ask us if I pick out his outfits and I can honestly tell you that I don't. His style is in { small } part the reason why he is my Mister after all. That being said, he can get in a conservative, plain Jane rut along with the best of us. So, I was really excited when he chose these little hipsters. They may not be a wild color or pattern but he certainly can't wear them to the office. Progress.

Full disclosure: we had a long ~~argument~~ discussion as to whether or not you wear these with socks, but after our salesman confirmed that indeed you do not, I won { ! }. Can't wait for the warmer commando ankle weather and not just because I like my Mister's naked ankles.

While visiting Los Angeles last month I also visited my mecca. Ever since moving to NYC I have been deprived. My Mister and I checked out the new Nordstrom on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and picked myself up a ~~little~~ amazing souvenir. My Mister will claim temporary insanity but to my utter shock and incredible justification skills { sometimes I even surprise myself } he didn't totally put the kibosh on my purchase.

Could have been his vacation brain or the fact that I was reminiscing about out h-moon in Italy { where all the ladies wore wedges at night so their heels didn't get caught in the cobble stone streets }. Either way, I am totally ~~talented~~ wearing these right now in my uncomfortably un-modest bikini and when we go back to Italy { some day }.

So, I may or may not have a girl crush on my neighbor friend. For the purpose of this blog lets just call her Misses Neighbor. We drop by each others apartments using the excuse that our dog "just had to say hello" basically every day. We then stand in the hallway as the pups play, drink tea { it's still winter but when it warms up I am planning on changing our beverage choice to white wine, with an ice cube or two } and gab. We have been trying to set up a double date with our Misters but have yet to nail down a time, so until then, my pup will be begging me to see her pup. Wink. Wink.

Anyway, the point of all of this is that Misses Neighbor stopped by my apartment a few weeks back as I was ~~casually~~ frantically packing for our trip to LA. I was wearing my new these { yes I am late to the game, but it's okay because I got them on major sale } and given the fact that we are soulmaighbors { soulmate + neighbors }, she just so happened to pop over to model her new pair { see image below } of these! She may be one step ahead of me but aren't we so connected?

Needless to say I have since been obsessed! I have been looking at the waxed black version of these pants for months and now after seeing Misses Neighbor's I can't decide. One is a bit fancier { which NYC is, plus I could always wear them on date night with my Mister } but the other is more causal { which is much more me, so I would probably wear them more } and are basically like a summer { which is fast approaching } version of the black pant { breathe }. Side note: I have never been more aware of dressing for seasons since moving from the West Coast to the East Coast.

Help me decide! Which one do I buy? Truth be told, I am going to purchase at least one pair of these. Consider this fair warning my Mister { he reads my blog :) }.

Can you tell I have the sunny beach weather on my mind or what?

See I am trying to teach my Mister that bathing suits are like outfits. I don't wear the same t-shirt every day { and neither does he for that matter } so why is it so hard to understand that I ~~want~~ need a suit for every day of our trip?

And again with the modesty issue. The convenient ruffles cover up any cold nip awkwardness with the colleague and his wife and their close friends. A lot of potential awkwardness to be had people. This has been inducted into the necessity category.

I had my eye on this amazing little spring/fall { for those of us unfortunately on the East Coast, but fall/winter/cool-year-round-nights lucky enough to be on the west coast } number ever since I spotted a picture of one of the Olsen twins { don't judge, I love them } wearing it. I think it was MK if I remember correctly. Trying to be the responsible Misses to my Mister that I am I stocked it and then watched in horror as it became sold out after going on sale. To my surprise { and literally what I took to be a sign form the Gods } it came back...on sale...in my size { also a sign: there was only one left in my size }. I threw caution to the wind and ordered it with one swift click of a button { that's a dangerous little feature }. In my defense { my Mister } I am ALWAYS cold and have already worn it { and loved it } a ton + I got free shipping!

Funny, my timing lined up just perfectly with the trip my Mister and I took to Los Angeles last week where I needed a jacket but not a down parka that even the fur lined attempt-at-cute hood can't save from frumpville . It was, in a word, perfection.

Okay so we are going on a warm winter getaway with some work friends that we are just starting to get to know along with some of their close friends. That means that I have never been so undressed as to wear a bathing suit in their presence. Being the slightly shy and very modest gal that I am, I truly believe this is the ultimate conservative yet fashionable bikini for the trip. I can see myself feeling very comfortable in either color. I think this could definitely be classified in the need category rather than the want category. For sure!
