Las Niñas Antiguas meet at Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer Garden

[ENG] Today we've met with Las Niñas Antiguas and we've changed our common park to go to one of Montjuïc parks, Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer Garden.

Our aim for today was to start with a project we are doing with the University of Barcelona. They asked us (together with other groups) to help them crochet a Mediterranean forest...Let's see how it finishes.

So today we where trying to know how to crochet ivy leaves...it was a little hard to come with a proper pattern but more or less we made it.

[CAT] Avui ens hem vist amb Las Niñas Antiguas i hem canviat d'ubicació per variar, escollint un dels parcs de Montjuïc, els jardins de Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer.

La idea d'avui era començar amb un projecte que estem fent amb la Universitat de Barcelona. Ens van demanar (juntament amb altres grupets) d'ajudar-los a teixir un bosc Mediterrani...a veure com acaba.

Avui bàsicament hem intentat treure un patró per poder teixir heura...ha estat una mica difícil acabar amb un patró mínimament decent però sembla que més o menys ja ho tenim.

The tradition is to buy books and roses and to achieve this purposes being crafty is a good idea because you can sell your handmade roses, amongst other Sant Jordi related things...

So today I'm going to show different things some people I've been following for a while are making to sell on that day...

[CAT] La setmana vinent és Sant Jordi i toca celebrar-ho degudament. Així doncs ser crafty actualment serveix per poder fer roses i Sant Jordi de totes formes i colors...i mola! Així que avui us ensenyaré diferents coses que fan una sèrie de gent que conec de fa temps que vendràn porai aquell dia...

DIY: Felt Toast Key Holder

[ENG] It's been a long time since the last DIY project and today I bring you this one from Duitang a chinese web page (I think it's a sort of chinese Pinterest but I'm not sure cause I can't understand a word!) but luckily for us the images speak for themselves. A cute felt toast key holder. So just follow the different images and...ta dah! (Yes, the images are a little small but it's easy to follow).

[CAT] Ja fa una mica des de l'últim DIY i avui us vull ensenyar un projecte que vaig trobar a Duitang, una web xinesa (que crec que dèu ser una mena de Pinterest però no n'estic segura perquè no entenc res de res, lògicament). Per sort les imatges parlen per si soles. És un clauer de feltre en forma de torrada (molt guai!). Així que, aneu seguint les imatges i...ta dah! (Sí, les imatges queden una mica minis però es pot seguir igualment...;) ).

[ENG] Today I want to show you my last project...a granny square pillow. In fact it was supposed to be a blanket but I couldn't imagine myself using all that time on doing one single thing...I prefer to try with different projects and when I'm ready (I guess is something to do with my mind rather than my proper time...) I'll try to do the most beautiful blanket ever made (by me).

One side of the pillow is made with the granny squares and the other with a nice fabric with a global map printed on it.

[CAT] Avui us vull ensenyar el meu últim projecte...un coixí fet amb granny square. De fet se suposa que havia de ser una manta però no em podia imaginar a mi mateixa utilitzant tot aquell temps en fer una sola cosa...prefereixo provar amb diferents projectes i quan estigui preparada (crec que és més una qüestió de mentalitat que no pas de temps real...) faré la manta més meravellosa mai feta (per mi...clar).

Una cara del coixí està fet amb els granny square i per l'altra banda hi ha una tela amb l'impressió del mapa del món que ja he utilitzat alguna altra vegada.

Invisible friend with Las Niñas Antiguas

[ENG] Last sunday, after quite a long period we met with Las Niñas Antiguas to celebrate our "christmas" invisible friend at Meatpacking Bistro. It was good because we where almost all of us, except Bego (ill) and Roser (in Paris, oh la la!) and we had a new friend with us, Marta from Tricotoseando.
The presents where handmade (of course) and had a little of everything but inspiration and imagination were the main topic...so incredible!
So I'll leave you with some pictures of our presents. Hope you like them!
[CAT] El diumenge passat, després de bastant sense veure'ns, vam quedar amb Las Niñas Antiguas per celebrar el nostre amic invisible de "nadal" (un pèl tard, cert) al Meatpacking Bistro. Va ser guai perquè hi erem quasi totes, excepte la Bego (que estava malalta) i la Roser (que estava a París, oh la la!) i a sobre va venir un nou fitxatge, la Marta de T.ricotoseando

[ENG] Today it's Easter's Day and as a tradition almost everywhere we, godmathers or godfathers give an easter egg to our godsons or goddaughter. Some places kids tend to look for hidden easter eggs but here in Catalunya is rather different and the tradition has changed from a cake with boiled eggs to mainly tones of chocolate in different shapes and sizes.

I have a godson and I always try to prepare his own "mona" and this year I thought of crocheting some eggs and adding some chocolate eggs with them so in the end it would lool like a colourful nest. Xim was happy with the chocolate (I gave it to him a week ago although it should be today) no matter the look of the mona.

[CAT] Avui és el dia de la mona i com a tradició pràcticament arreu, els padrins o padrines donen la mona als seus fillols o filloles. A alguns llocs els nens es tiren una bona estona buscant els ous amagats porai però aquí a Catalunya és una mica diferent i la tradició també ha canviat amb el temps, passant de ser un pastís amb ous bullits al mig a bàsicament tones de xocolata en diferents tamanys i formes.

Jo tinc un fillol i sempre intento fer la seva pròpia mona (¡cómo no!) i aquest any vaig pensar en fer uns ous de ganxet afegint-hi els de xocolata de manera que semblés un niu de colors. En Xim va estar encantat amb la xocolata (li vaig donar fa una setmana tot i que hauria de ser avui), fos quina fos la forma de la mona.

Homework...for Inés

[ENG] Good morning! Today I want to show you my last piece of work for a recent mum, well, for her daughter ...
A while ago, when Costura shop was still open i bought a pattern for a girl's cape that would be a present for somebody one day...and that day has arrived...for Inés. Despite my good intentions, my short knowledge in sewing made me realise (once finished) that she would be able to wear the cape when she turns about 18... However, they always say that the most important thing is the good intentions in it...and I can tell you there is a lot of that in the project.
The work has some adaptations from the original pattern. For example, it is reversible. One side has corduroy fabric and the other a world map pattern (cause her mum is from Granada and her dad from London and they met in NYC).
When little Inés will be big and tall enough to use it probably she'll prefer to have a tattoo or a piercing but she can always think that her catalan "aunt" did it with the best of intentions (or using other words, I'm gonna be the tacky aunt who give tacky presents to a teenager....)
[CAT] Bon dia! Avui us vull ensenyar un dels meus "deures" pendents per una mare recent parida o més aviat per la seva filla, la Inés.

Ara ja fa un temps i quan la botiga Costura encara era oberta, vaig comprar un patró d'una capa per nena que pensava seria un detall per algú algún dia i el dia va arribar...Tot i les meves bones intencions, les meves curtes nocions de costura (autodidacta a tope però amb molt bona voluntat...) la capa (o ja no sé com dir-li) potser se la podrà arribar a posar quan arribi a la majoria d'edat. No obstant, sempre diuen que el que comta és la intenció...i d'aquesta n'hi havia molta.

La peça té alguna que altra adaptació al patró original; per exemple, és reversible. Per una banda és de pana marró (quin lio intentar posar les ratlles totes del dret) i per l'altre és d'un estampat del mapa del món (vaig escollir aquest doncs és una nena internacional de mare granadina i de pare londinenc i amb uns pares que es van conèixer a New York mentre fein postdocs allà).

La petita Inés quan la pugui fer servir potser ja voldrà dur tatuatges i pearcings però sempre li quedarà el record que una "tia" catalana li va fer allò amb molt bona intenció (amos, que seré la tia hortera que li regala coses horteres a una adolescent...)

I love food: M&M's yogurt

[ENG] An easy and colourful recipe from Kanela y Limón, make some coloured yogurts using M&M's and a yogurt-maker...easy!

The ideas from her blog are always lovely and delicious but I think this is one of the easiest I've ever seen, I think it could perfectly work for an evening with kids...enjoy preparing some homemade yogurts...

You'll need:

800 ml of fresh milk
200 ml of cream (35% fat)
1 natural yogurt
M&M's (12 per yogurt)
A yogurt-maker.

Put the M&M's in the container. Mix the milk and the cream and heat it in the microwave for about 4 minutes and then add the yogurt. Stir it well. Fill the containers with the mix and after a wait of about 2 minuts to let the colour dissolve gently stir it without touching the M&M's (just let the colour spread but avoid to dissolve the chocolate in it). Put it in the yogurt-maker for about 9 hours, let them cooling down and after this keep them in the fridge. Voilà!

[CAT] Una recepta super fàcil de la mà de Kanela y Limón, uns iogurts de colors fets amb Lacasitos i una iogurtera...fàcil!!

M'encanten les idees d'aquest blog, sempre tenen una pinta deliciosa però crec que aquesta és la recepta més fàcil que he vist mai, perfecta per una tarda amb enanos...

Necessitareu:

800 ml de llet sencera
200 ml de nata (35% de greix)
1 iogurt natural
Lacasitos (12 per got)
una iogurtera.

Posa els Lacasitos als gots. Barreja la llet i la nata i escalfa-ho uns 4 minuts al microones i després barreja-hi el iogurt. Posa-ho als gots i després d'un parell de minuts (per deixar que es desprengui color) ho barregeu procurant no tocar els Lacasitos perquè no surti la xocolata. Poseu-ho a la iogurtera unes 9 hores i un cop deixat refredar ja ho podeu posar a la nevera. Voilà!

[ENG] It's been five minutes since I've meet this wonderful work and all because Las Niñas Antiguas together with other crochet addicts will be involved in a project that I hope it ends with something nice...We'll have to wait to see the results.

But let's focus on Shauna and her crochetdermy. Simple irresistible....and amazing by the way.

This british artist makes a unique body of work-realistic life-size animal sculptures created using crochet.

So well, it is the perfect way to get insipiration for our project to be but I'm sure we won't achieve the same result, ever! Fortunately there she is to continue with this amazing work.

[CAT] No fa ni cinc minuts que acabo de descobrir aquesta passada de feina i tot perquè Las Niñas Antiguas junt amb d'altres boges per les agulles aviat ens veurem liades en un projecte que espero que acabi bé i amb algo interessant doncs ara mateix sona a bogeria impossible per qüestió de temps.

Però bé, centre'm-nos en la Shauna i la seva ganxetdermis. Simplement irresitible...i al.lucinant en certa manera.

Aquesta artista britànica fa peces úniques a tamany real de peces que serien pròpies d'un taxidermista però en ganxet!!

Així que ens servirà per agafar alguna que altra idea tot i que dubto molt que arribem a assolir el mateix resultat. Però vamos, sort que hi és ella per anar continuant amb aquesta feina flipant.

[ENG] I've been having lots of work lately coming from my friends, invisible friends, newly born babies and birthdays to come...

And for now and not to forget, I have to do a Daiquiri Lamp, which I already told you a while ago, a bunting garland for a 3 year old birthday girl and of course, I must start to built up the chocolate easter desert for my godson and this year I'm planning on crocheting some eggs and add the normal chocolate aside if I want to make him extremely happy.

So I'd better start working, no?

De moment, i per no oblidar-me'n, tinc pendent la Daiquiri Lamp de la que ja us vaig parlar fa molt i que espero començar aviat sinó el meu col.lega em tocarà la cresta i després l'altre projecte que he de preparar amb calma i que no he fet mai és una guirnalda de tela per una enana que farà 3 anyets...per aquesta encara em queden prous mesos, espero! i no oblidar-me de manufacturar la mona per en Xim...aquest any amb ou d'amigurumi però sense que faltin els de xocolata de veritat, sinó n'hi haurà un altre que em tocarà la cresta...

[ENG] Today's I love food, a Pinata cake from A Subtle Reverly a web I discovered recently thanks to this wonderful desert.

If you are planning on having a kids party or you just want to surprise someone with a lovely cake, try to do it. A cake with a hole in the middle filled with candy like a proper pinata. Isn't it a good idea?

What you'll mainly have to do is baking a couple of cakes in a large bowl or container so the cake grows tall and you can take the part from the inside so you'll fill it with candy and you'll stick it together with the other half using some frosting.

DIY: Fabric Door Stopper

[DIY] Today a door stopper as a DIY project coming right through Mollie Makes and thanks to her blog guest Hungry Hippie.

It is an easy tutorial but I haven't had time to do it yet but you can follow the step by step through her blog; so I won't extend myself much and I'll leave you with some pictures and hope to be able to do it soon.

You'll need:

10-12 inch zipper.
two 10x10 inch squares of choice fabric.
9x2.5 inch interface fabric for handle.
9x5 inch fabric for handle.
two pieces 10x10 inch interfaces

És un tutorial molt senzill de seguir que podeu seguir pas a pas al seu blog. Aquí us deixo les fotos del procés fins al final del resultat.

Una cremallera llarga (més de 25 cm)
Entretela per donar gruix (23x20 per la nansa i de 25x25cm per les teles de colors)

[ENG] Today I won't talk about a magazine, today I'd like to talk about a book, We make dolls, a book where top dollmakers share their secrets and patterns (nice!).

The book is divided in 10 different sections, each one of them with one dollmaker, showing their projects and giving you patterns (23 in total) explained with a step by step tutorial, images and templates.

The designers are (in order of appearance): Nichol Brinkman, Danita, Sasha Pokrass, Mimi Kirchner, Maria Madeira, Ana Fernandes, Denise Ferragamo, Jenn Docherty, Suse Bauer and Katie Shelton.

The idea of such a good book comes from Jenny Doh, the author.

[CAT] A mi em flipen els colors, i desde que vaig descobrir el blog de The Dainty Squid només tinc ganes de vestir coses de coloraines i tenyir-me els cabells com l'arc iris (però respecte a això, no hi ha c******, llàstima).
A més, també em flipa el seu blog perquè les fotos són guapíssimes i ella està estupenda.
Es defineix com una noia de vint-i-tants, reina de la segona mà, dona de gats, micòloga amateur i col.leccionista de quantitat de coses...així que...genial!
Escriu posts de roba, menjar, DIY i molts altres...
I gràcies a ella ja he descobert un nou lloc que m'agradaria conèixer...Ohio!

[ENG] At last! Finally I've found a blog where I can understand the instructions for a crocheted, and lovely by the way, square. A version of the granny square but slightly different and really nice. And the thing is that

The Crocheting Club I've found the place to understand the symbols because she uses pictures together with the symbols to show the pattern. I think this is gonna be one of my new blogs to follow if I want to keep learning crochet.

[CAT] Per fi! Finalment he trobat un blog on puc entendre les instruccions de patrons de ganxet amb símbols; sempre paro boja. Aquí amb una versió d'un granny square però amb un toc. I la cosa és que desde The Crocheting Club he trobat un lloc on entendre patrons perquè barreja imatges juntament amb els símbols per ensenyar el patró. Crec que serà un blog que seguiré a partir d'ara si vull seguir aprenent punts.

I love food: Egg Shell Brownie

[ENG] I whish I had time for everything I'd like to do but luckily there are so many blogs to find lovely things so I just decided to start the new section about food and recipies I whish I had time to prepare.

And I'll start with this special brownie from La Receta de la Felicidad. A simple recipe but inside an egg!! So when you give it to your guests I bet their faces will be a poem....

So I'll leave you with the recipe and the pictures from her blog (don't miss it!)

Ingredients

12-16 eggs for the shell (or an 8 inch pan if you want to bake a classic brownie)
7 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped (200 g)
1 stick butter, room temperature (125 g)
3 large eggs
1 cup granulated sugar
1 pinch of salt
1 cup all-purpose flour
3 Tbls unsweetened cocoa powder

Directions

To prepare the egg shells, carefully poke a small hole at the bottom of each egg, using a corkscrew bottle opener.
Once you have poked a tiny hole, peel back the edges of the hole to expand it a bit. The holes need to be large enough to fit the tip of a piping bag inside.
Turn the egg upside-down and dump out the contents, which you can store for other preparations I used a wooden skewer to help get all of the egg out of the shell.
Rinse the insides of the eggs out thoroughly over the sink. Then, immerse them in saltwater for thirty minutes (100 g salt for every 1 liter water). Eggs need to be filled with the saltwater in order to sink.
Rinse the egg shells in cold water and lay the eggs hole side down on a paper towel to dry.
Drizzle about 1 teaspoon of sunflower oil in each egg and turn/flip it in your hand until the inside is completely covered. Get rid of any excessive oil. The easiest way to pour de oil inside the egg shell is to use a small funnel.
Prepare the brownie batter.
Put the chocolate and butter in a medium heatproof bowl and set over a pan of simmering water, or melt in the microwave Melt the chocolate and butter, stirring occasionally until smooth. Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
In another medium bowl whisk together the eggs and sugar at low-medium speed until combined.
Whisk the warm chocolate mixture into the egg mixture.
Stir in the flour, salt and cocoa powder with a wooden spoon until just combined.
Place the prepared egg shells into a cupcake tin. Use aluminum foil to help them stand upright.
Load the batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip. Make sure that the tip can fit the egg hole. If it can’t, expand the hole a little bit at a time until it fits. Fill your eggs about 3/4 full with batter. This is the tricky part. If you underfill the eggs, you won’t have a complete cake egg inside when you crack them after baking. If you overfill the eggs, cake will overflow out of the egg during baking. It looks ugly right after baking, but just remove
the excess cake and clean the shell with a damp towel. It is important to do this when the cake is still hot, when cold it is much harder to clean the shell.
Bake the eggs at 350º F for 15-20 minutes. Let cool, crack, and eat!

[CAT] Ojalà tingués temps per tot allò que voldria fer però per sort meva hi ha tants blogs on trobar coses guapíssimes, que he decidit començar secció nova sobre el menjar i les receptes que m'agradaria preparar. I començaré amb aquests brownies tant originals the La Receta de la Felicidad. Una recepta senzilla però dins un ou!!! La cara dels qui ho mengin ha de ser un poema segur!

Així que us deixo amb la recepta i les fotos del seu blog (no us el perdeu!!)

Ingredients

12-16 ous, millor si són XL, o un motlle rectangular petit
200 gr de xocolata per fondre
125 gr de mantega a temperatura ambienti
3 ous grans
200 gr sucre
125 gr de farina
3 cullerades de cacau pur en pols (tipus Valor)
1 polsim de sal

Preparació

Anem a començar preparant les closques d'ou, que anem a usar com a motlle per fornejar
Amb la punta d'un llevatapas, punxem la part inferior de la closca, i amb els dits trenquem amb cura per fer un forat petit, almenys del gruix d'un dit petit, per on buidarem l'ou, i introduirem la massa després.
Buidem l'ou, que reservem per a altres preparacions, i aclarim amb aigua la pela de l'ou sota l'aixeta. Per a aquest pas de buidar la pela, el millor és ajudar-se d'una broqueta de fusta, així es buida perfectament i no queden restes d'ou a l'interior.
Procedim així amb tots els ous.
Omplim un bol ample amb aigua salada (100 gr per litre aproximadament). Introduïm les peles d'ou en l'aigua, on les deixarem, amb cura que quedin totalment cobertes per l'aigua, per espai de mitja hora.
Passat aquest temps, traiem les peles d'ou, i les deixem assecar amb el forat cap avall sobre paper de cuina.
Amb ajuda d'un embut petit, posem una mica d'oli a l'interior de cada ou, i la girem i movem perquè s'impregni bé d'oli per dins. Deixem sortir l'oli sobrant, i ja tenim els ous llestos per emplenar amb el brownie.
Seguim preparant el brownie de xocolata.
En un bol posem la mantega i la fonem en el microones, uns 45-60 segons.
Afegim la xocolata trossejada a la mantega fosa calenta, i deixem reposar una mica perquè es vagi desfent la xocolata. Removem la barreja fins que la xocolata estigui totalment dissolt, si és necessari, posem uns segons més en el microones.
En un altre bol, batem els ous amb el sucre, fins que estigui ben dissolt, però sense arribar a muntar-ho (a mà, o amb varetes elèctriques a velocitat baixa-mitjana).
Barregem la xocolata i la mantega, que no hauran d'estar calentes, només temperats, amb els ous i el sucre.
Agreguem la farina, el cacau i la sal, i batem uns segons més a velocitat baixa, just per barrejar-ho.
Passem la barreja a una mànega pastissera amb filtre de la grandària adequada als forats dels nostres ous. Pot fer-se amb una bossa de congelació tallant-li la punta, però és més senzill amb filtre i es taca menys.
Emplenem cada ou fins a 3/4 parts. Si aneu a usar qualsevol altra recepta de bescuit que porti llevat, us recomanaria emplenar-ho solament fins a 1/2 de la seva capacitat. De totes maneres, perquè el brownie quedi bé, el millor és que la massa sobresurti de la pela, d'aquesta manera ens assegurem que el brownie emplena tot l’ou i surt amb forma d'ou.
Per fornejar els ous de brownie, precalentm el forn a 180º C. Col·loquem els ous sobre un motlle de magdalenes o muffins amb una mica de paper d'alumini, perquè els ous s’aguantin al forn i no se surti el farcit.
Fornegem els ous de brownie entre 15 i 20 minuts.
Traiem del forn, retirem l'excés de massa i netegem les restes de la pela amb un drap humit. Ull que si ho deixem refredar després ja és molt més complicat retirar les restes..
Deixem refredar els ous totalment abans de servir.
Servim amb el forat cap avall, com si fos un ou passat per aigua. I a veure quina cara posa la gent!

[ENG] I discovered Frankie Magazine a while ago and although I haven't seen any paper issue, I like what they have.

Frankie is an Australian magazine with all the latest news, trends and events in fashion, travel, food, music, craft art and more. It is released bi-monthly and it was launched in October 2004 by editor Louise Bannister and creative director Lara Burke.

So, they have almost all those things I really like to read about.

If it's not easy for you (like in my case) to find a paper issue, you can subscribe to the digital edition.

In their web page they also talk about all the topics from the magazine, food, music, craft, photography, fashion...
Worth reading it for sure.
[CAT] Vaig descobrir Frankie Magazine fa una mica i tot i que no l'he vista en paper, m'agrada el que tenen.
Frankie, és una revista australiana amb les últimes notícies referents a moda, viatges, menjar, musica, manualitats i més. És de tirada bi-mensual i es publica des d'octubre de 2004.
Tenen pràcticament de tot allò que m'agrada llegir.
Si no t'és fàcil trobar l'edició impresa sempre pots escollir la digital.
A la seva pàgina web tenen també de tot allò del que parlen.
Una bona opció.

Pleased to Meet You: Megan Geckler

[ENG] Today at the Pleased to Meet You section I'd like to introduce you to Megan Geckler, an artist that works with plastic tape to produce the three-dimensional filled with many colours. Whenever she plans to prepare a new perfomance she begins it with a site-visit during which she takes countless photos, measurements and observations. Then she makes a series of drawings and finally she sets the tapes. An installation can take a single day, or be completed over a series of weeks depending on the size and scope of the project.

The final result is shocking.

She's been exhibiting in the States since 1998 and soon she'll be exhibiting around the globe. Let's hope she stops in Barcelona.

[CAT] Avui a la secció Pleased to meet You d'avui us vull parlar de la Megan Geckler, una artista que treballa amb cinta de plàstic de colors per crear obres tridimensionals. Quan es planteja qualsevol nova instal.lació es planta a l'escena i d'allà en pren un munt de fotos que li serviran per després fer un dibuix d'allò que es planteja fer per veure com quedaria per finalment començar a treballar. El muntatge pot portar d'un dia a vàries setmanes depenent de la mida i la dificultat del projecte.

El resultat final és brutal.

Ha estat exposant a Estats Units des de 1998 i aviat exposarà internacionalment. Esperem que aterrissi per Barcelona.
