Τα μπιφτέκια τα εμπνευστηκα απο μια συνταγή που κάμνει η αδερφή μου τζαι τα εσυνόδευσα με πουργούρι. Το πουργούρι/πουρκούρι (ή πληγούρι οπως ειναι γνωστό στην Ελλάδα) ειναι απο τα αγαπημένα μου φαγητά της Κυπριακής κουζίνας. Σαλάτα και γιαούρτι είναι επίσης απαραίτητα για συνοδεία.

Υλικά για μπιφτέκια:

0.5 κιλό κιμάς κοτοπούλου
1 καρότο
1 κολοκυθάκι
1 κρεμμύδι
1 ντομάτα
1 αυγό
2-3 κουταλιές αλεσμένη καπήρα (φρυγανιά δηλαδή)
αλάτι, ρίγανη, πιπέρι (προαιρετικά)

Last Wednesday, 16th of October, a flashmob was organized in the buffer zone for the 2 year anniversary of OBZ. People went to the Ledra/Lokmaci crossing with a net and a ball to play volleyball. Dressed as politicians, the aim was to ridicule negotiations amongst money-hungry politicians who pay no regard to the people.

Η υπηρεσία "ON CARDIAC", παρουσιάστηκε σε διάσκεψη τύπου την Παρασκευή 11 Οκτωβρίου στο Αμφιθέατρο της Cyta στη Λευκωσία, υπό την αιγίδα του έντιμου Υπουργού Υγείας Δρα Πέτρου Πετρίδη.

Η πρωτοποριακή, υπηρεσία επιτρέπει στο ΚΥ.Σ.ΑΝ. να στέλνει SMS σε εκπαιδευμένους πολίτες σε περιπτώσεις καρδιακής ανακοπής πολίτη, σε δημόσιο χώρο. Στόχος, το άτομο, παραλήπτης, που θα είναι πιο κοντά στον ασθενή να προστρέχει για άμεση βοήθεια, αφού σε ένα καρδιακό επεισόδιο ο χρόνος ανταπόκρισης είναι πολύ πολύτιμος."

Synopsis:

English satellites who conduct research from space discover large oil deposits in the area of the Old Mines in Cyprus. A big part of the area belongs to Costantas Rizites (he has bought half of it from his Turkish Cypriot colleague Ahmet Beyoglu) who has retired there with his wife Ellou. The outbreak of a big economic crisis leads the two sons of the family to bankruptcy forcing them to move their families to the house.

This whole situation is made worse when the Cyprus government keeps asking to buy the house, and Costantas’ stubbornly refuses. Moreover two English agents and Hasan Beyoglu (son of Ahmet) camp outside the house. The house is in a state of internal and external siege.

PASIDI secretary general announced today that the union for the workers in the public sector are not going to negotiate with Ms Labrianidou, the the commissioner for public reform (source).

Well does anyone knows why? I think the union leaders find it difficult when having to speak with technocrats. They only know how to deal with the parties for obvious reasons!

There has been a repeated ecological damage in the area between Souni and Kivides by forest fires that repeat year after year; the newest of them have happened today (source). The area, once a nice pine-wood tree forest has been suffering for many years now and from what I understand not many precautions have been taken to prevent it.

Quite surprising is also the fact that no-one seems to link this ecological destruction with the new housing projects that emerge like mushrooms wherever the trees have been swept away by the fire... ...Well if this is not upsetting then what is?

Cypriot Paralympian swimmer Karolina Pelendritou made waves yesterday after setting a world record time of 1:16.10 in the 100m breaststroke SB12 at the 2013 IPC Swimming World Championships in Montreal, Canada. Pelendritou, who is Cyprus’ most successful Paralympian ever with two gold medals, one Silver and one Bronze in three consecutive Paralympic Games, smashed the record set by Natalia Pronina of Azerbaijan who had set a time of 1:16.17 at London 2012 whilst also ensuring Cyprus won its first ever gold in the competition. Φεστιβάλ Μουσικής Φέγγαρος - Λόφου, 2-4 Αυγούστου

"Για τρίτη συνεχή χρονιά το Μουσικό Φεστιβάλ Φέγγαρος ανοίγει τις πόρτες του για το κοινό, στο γραφικό χωριό της Λόφου, στη Λεμεσό. Θέατρο, stand-up comedy, μουσικοί του δρόμου (busking) και πολλά άλλα εμπλουτίζουν το φετινό φεστιβάλ που θα ξεχυθεί μέσα στα δρομάκια του χωριού το τριήμερο 2-3-4 Αυγούστου. Μουσικά και άλλα δρώμενα θα πραγματοποιούνται σε ταβέρνες, πλατείες, ταράτσες και μέσα σε άδεια παλιά σπίτια. Κορύφωση του φεστιβάλ θα είναι η συναυλία στο δημοτικό σχολείο του χωριού, το Σάββατο 3 Αυγούστου, όπου θα εμφανιστεί οΘανάσης Παπακωνσταντίνου μαζί με τη Ματούλα Ζαμάνη και 7μελή μπάντα.
