I am not dead if anyone was wondering...again on hiatus because school takes up too much time. Hopefully I'll be back shortly if I don't forget I have a blog.

Oh dear, I am morbidly curious and yet completely disturbed on the news of this... Susan Boyle will be making covers of the overly covered Depeche Mode's "Enjoy The Silence" and possibly Tears for Fears "Mad World" says Tom from his Waveformless blog. I love the title to his post "Where is Your God NOW?, haha...I agree with a No on this one. Though out of sheer curiosity I will definitely have

First project for New Media: Video Installation class was to be an abstract video. I chose to use a video I took with my poor quality phone of my ceiling fan and brought it into Adobe After Effects CS5. I can't quite tell you what I did from there because this was my first time using this software so I pushed a bunch of buttons and put a lot of effects. Then I brought it into Adobe Premiere CS5

Hello everyone, Sorry I've been on a tad of a hiatus from the blog realm. Classes started, my brother's wedding, and a bunch of stressful stuff in between has kept me away. I will try my bring this blog back up from the grave once again. One special project that I would like to bring up is a side project I've been helping with for the past few months. San Antonio BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science, and Technology) robotics competition kick off will be arriving shortly, September 3 to be exact. The kick off is where they will show what the game is about and what they have to accomplish in the competition. F.I.R.S.T. Robotics also has a kick off (in January) but this competition is based locally.   "The SA BEST (Boosting Engineering,

Yes folks, this is another TED Talk. At a 3:27, I didn't think this video would take out precious minutes out of someones day that they could have been on facebook reading about how sleepy someone is that moment...and responding about it. Moving on, Matt Cutts is an Engineer at Google and gives an inspiring talk about goals. What are some things you have always wanted to do? Why not try them for

(Yes, I'm that much of a nerd if you can't tell already ^.^) Watching the Daily Show and the Colbert Report on Hulu, I came across Nova which is a science show on PBS. From their website they state "NOVA's approach, developed over more than a quarter century, is to select a topic of great interest to viewers and then produce a film that is as entertaining as it is informative, using the tools of

After having a horrible morning, I found out that I got two A's for my summer classes. Only semester to have straight A's and I am pretty stoked about it. Anywho, I have not been able to get a copy of my phonotrope animations back from my professor but I do have my final animation which was a collaboration with Ri Chavez. Our animation is a stop motion animation made out of paper cut outs. We

CNN's Piers Morgan interviewed Dean Kamen, Inventor of the Segway and founder of F.I.R.S.T., and will.i.am from the band Black Eyed Peas. *Videos below* From what I've heard, Black Eyed Peas made an appearance at the F.I.R.S.T. Ah...the completion of my summer classes. What a relief! I had a post earlier talking about some ideas I had for my 5-week project and I finally came out with a product. It happened to be quite stressful because of financial strains but I think I accomplished what I wanted within the parameters given. We had critiques yesterday and today, mine was today, and it went fairly well. My biggest issue

I apologize to anyone who might be offended. I found this clip from Colbert Report hilarious. I feel that everyone should believe in whatever they want to believe without having to throw it in people's faces or judge anyone on such things. I liked this clip though, made me giggle... …if we give your daughters and granddaughters access to birth control they will instantly turn into wanting

I looked at the Maker Faire website and it just so happens there is a TED Talk talking just about that...AND ROBOTICS!! I don't know what else to say, I'm so incredibly excited. It makes me so angry that Maker Faire is going to be in New York on September 17 & 18 though. This is way too far, so incredibly irksome. So I was perusing the good old Youtube for some stop motion animation ideas for my class, and came across these two videos. I am a fighting/martial arts fanatic so I get a tad giddy when I find some awesome videos. My second phonotrope animation for my class was actually the move "Au Sem Mao" in Capoeira. Anywho, on to these spiffy yet cheesy videos I just so happened to stumble upon...hehe.

Oh Mr. Humphrey Bogart...he is such a womanizer but oh so handsome with his manly goodness. Samuel Spade (Bogart), is a private investigator who is hired to help interesting criminals find the "Maltese Falcon". The Maltese Falcon is a statue of

I really was trying to not put more than one TED Talk post in one day but I just couldn't help it, this one was sooooo interesting. Everyone knows Adam Savage from the Discovery channel show "Mythbusters". I love this show and sometimes wish I could do something similar because I love building things just for the purpose of building things. On this TED Talk he goes into some of his interests of

This was one of the funniest TED Talks I've seen so far but it was very interesting nonetheless. He talks about many topics on why we as humans prefer some things over others. One example he brings up is with art. Would you buy a piece of art knowing its a forgery? Of course not because we as people like the history of the art being a one-of-a-kind creation by the artist and that is why people

I just came back from the Texas Robot Roundup at Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. This was the first time in two, almost three years of being to a robotics competition and it was stressful, exhausting, exciting, fun, and everything else I could remember. This time I was here as a mentor, which I have to say isn't as fun as being a student but seeing the spirit in these kids and having a

To follow up my last post about Theo Janses, I came across this. Markus Fischer with his team from Festo Corporation have build a robotic bird. In the interview he shows the audience how it flies, which I believe was remote controlled. In my opinion, it flew beautifully. It was absolutely life-like and the work in aerodynamics they had to put in was just fascinating. From their website: "Festo is
