If you use the following steps, you will lose all information that is currently stored on the iPod. You will lose all of the music, pictures, videos and applications stored on the iPod Touch. Also, be sure you have iTunes installed on your computer before you try to reset it.

First, you should see a screen asking you to enter the passcode. While the iPod is locked on this screen, plug it into your computer.

When you plug the iPod into the computer, iTunes should open. iTunes will then give you a message telling you it cannot open the iPod because it requires a password. Keep the iPod plugged in. Then click Cancel and close iTunes.

The iPod should be plugged into the computer and iTunes should be closed. Now you will need to hold the Power Sleep/Wake button (on top) and the Home button together for about 20 to 25 seconds. Hold the two buttons together until the iPod resets and shows a screen with a USB plug and an iTunes logo.

When you see this USB & iTunes screen, you will need to open iTunes.

You will then see a screen in iTunes telling you it detected an iPod in recovery mode. Click OK.

Then you will see the screen in iTunes where you can restore the iPod. Click the Restore button.

After you click the Restore button in iTunes, leave the iPod plugged into the computer until it is done restoring! Do not unplug the iPod. Do not push any of the buttons. Do not touch the screen. Let it restore in peace..

When the iPod is done downloading the latest software and it is done restoring, you will see the screen where you can sync the iPod with music, videos, applications, and the photos you choose.

Apple's fourth-generation iPod touch finally gets a camera for HD video recording, and still-photo capture. Plus a second, front-facing camera brings FaceTime video chat to the touch. On the new high-res Retina display, everything looks crisp and colorful, and the screen remains highly responsive to touch. Apple eliminated video playback from its sixth-generation iPod nano($149, ), making the touch the least-expensive video-playing iPod. Starting at $229 (direct, 8GB), however, it's not cheap, and that isn't much storage for an HD video device. The $299 32GB player seems like the best deal, while the 64GB model offers twice the storage, but remains exorbitantly priced at $399. Despite the cost, the iPod touch remains, by far, the best portable media player you can buy—and it retains our Editors' Choice crown.

User Interface
iOS 4 is a joy to behold. Things move quickly and smoothly, and they look great. Navigating almost all of the player's menus requires only icon tapping, but when text- or password-entry are required the on-screen keyboard swiftly appears and is, after some practice, a piece of cake to use. The horizontal keyboard is wider and easier to use for most people. Just as it is on the iPhone, it automatically switches orientation depending upon how you hold the player. And there's an accelerometer lock—scroll far left under the active apps menu to find its icon—press it to enable the feature. Moving and organizing icons is a snap, and multitasking is as simple as double-clicking on the Home button to see what other apps you currently have running and tapping an icon to return to an app, which will appear in the state you last left it. If you are familiar with the iPhone, you already know this.

Camera
Equipping the iPod touch with two cameras takes it to a new level. The rear-facing camera records video in HD (720p), up to 30fps, capturing audio through the rear panel mic. Still photos max out at 960 by 720 pixels. The front-facing camera, intended for FaceTime video chat, offers lower resolutions: VGA-quality for photos and videos, again, up to 30fps.

Camera operation couldn't be more intuitive. An onscreen slide control toggles between still and video camera modes, and an icon in the lower left takes you to your gallery, where you can peruse your photos and videos. Video footage plays back onscreen with a scroll tool that shows a thumbnail timeline of your footage, making skipping to a certain spot easy. You can trim your footage on the player by dragging your finder over the thumbnail timeline of the footage and selecting segments to cut, but we were only able to do very basic editing because the iMovie app was not available for iPod touch prior to publishing this review. (Apple expects it to be available soon.)

Capturing video is achieved by pressing the red record button onscreen when in video camera mode, and tapping it again to end recording. The screen acts as your viewfinder and everything moves along in real time without stuttering. Low-light situations will make for some noisy footage, but in well-lit scenarios, the touch's video looks colorful and crisp. Uploading your video to YouTube or sending it as an e-mail attachment, provided you have a Wi-Fi connection, is made easy with a button in the lower left-hand corner of the screen that walks you through a streamlined process to do either.

For the most part, still images are impressive for a non-dedicated, low-resolution camera, but the biggest shortcoming is the absence of a flash, which makes low-light—particularly back-lit—scenarios rather challenging. You get 5x digital zoom for photos, which is activated by moving the slider on the screen above the on-screen shutter button, but zooming in creates noticeable artifacts. Landscape shots in adequate lighting look amazingly sharp, and well-lit portraits look fantastic provided, again, that you don't zoom in too far. Like videos, photos can be sent out immediately via e-mail, or you can assign a photo to be your new wallpaper or a friend's contact photo, all by pressing the lower left-hand button when viewing your image.

FaceTime
Since the iPod touch is not a phone, it can't use phone numbers for FaceTime video chats, instead, it uses e-mail addresses. iOS 4.1, which enables e-mail address use in FaceTime, wasn't publicly available before we published this review, so I was only able to test the feature with reps from Apple. That said, I was using my home Wi-Fi network in New York City while video chatting with them in their Cupertino offices, and was blown away by the results. Images were crisp and clear, and I could understand everything my chat partner was saying, and never was a call dropped.

Audio and Video
Navigating the music menus on the iPod touch is completely intuitive. First off, there are so many ways to do it—using CoverFlow, searching Artist or Song, or perusing playlists. Apple has made everything fast and easy—scroll song or artist lists by dragging a finger or skip ahead to a letter on the scrollable alphabet on the right side of the screen. The Now Playing view is a showcase for album art, and you can play music while you surf the Web, view photos, or even play games.

By itself, the iPod touch is a fine audio device—plug in a pair of good-quality headphones and you won't be disappointed with the frequency range and overall audio quality. To my continuing disappointment, Apple still offers its stock, subpar earbuds, while rival manufacturers like Samsung and Sony instead bundle decent-quality earphones. Audiophiles listening to Lossless tracks on the touch will be best served by leaving the EQ off. The settings Apple provides are presets, there's still no user-customizable EQ. Extra features like Shake to Shuffle, Volume Limit, and Sound Check can all be enabled or disabled easily.

The iTunes Store can be accessed via Wi-Fi for on-the-spot music and video purchases, and with new 99-cent TV show rentals, watching television content, albeit from limited partners, is now more affordable, as well. Video looks amazing on the new display. YouTube and Netflix will not look as sharp as video purchased from the iTunes Store, of course, but the speed with which video can be cued up without stuttering is impressive. Obviously, this is dependent, like many things on the iPod touch, on the strength of your Wi-Fi signal.

File support remains similar to past models. For audio, supported codecs include AAC (protected and unprotected), HE-AAC, MP3, MP3 VBR, Audible, Apple Lossless, AIFF and WAV. Still no FLAC, which is still a bummer for audiophiles. For video, the player can handle H.264 up to 720p30, MPEG-4 up to 640 by 480 at 30fps, and motion JPEG. Also, if you use the Dock Connector to VGA Adapter (not included), you can play 1024 by 268 H.264 files. JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only) and PNG photo files are supported.

The touch integrates Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, though 802.11n only operates on the 2.4GHz band. Nike+ iPod support is also included for those who want to use the touch to help keep in shape.

Gaming and Apps
With the addition of FaceTime as well as Ping, the music-focused, social-networking feature for iTunes 10, it's clear that Apple wants the iPod experience to be a social one. And now there's Game Center, a new feature that encourages you to find a friend—either someone you know or a stranger with an iPod touch or an iPhone—to play real-time games. Your success (or failure) earns you a ranking you can use for bragging rights or to seek out opponents with similar skill levels. Unfortunately, during our review period, Game Center wasn't yet populated with games, but we'll test it as soon as it's up and running.

Meanwhile, the App Store, which is accessed via Wi-Fi, is loaded with single-player, accelerometer-driven games like Zombie Highway, for example, that look fantastic on the Retina display. There are more than 250,000 apps with a range far too wide to detail here. If you're familiar with the iPhone or iPod touches past, you know the possibilities are endless.

Web and E-Mail
Surfing in Safari on the iPod touch remains the best Internet experience on any portable media player out there. Last year's Zune HD ($219.99, ) came closest, but it still didn't quite match up. Some competitors, like Archos with its Archos 7 Home Tablet ($199.99, ), have started testing the tablet markets, but even those browsers, with their larger screens, are no match for the simplicity and speed of the Safari multi-touch experience on the touch. Given Apple's stance on Flash support, you shouldn't expect it on any iPod or iPhone anytime soon, and that's the single advantage competing mobile browsers can offer.

E-mail remains easy to customize and use—AOL, Gmail, Yahoo Mail, Microsoft Exchange, and mobileMe remain options in the mail section. iOS 4 allows for multiple accounts to be synced via Exchange—a new development. So while Gmail won't push mail independently, you can set it up—along with other accounts—via Exchange to push notifications to the iPod's home screen. (AOL, MobileMe, and Yahoo push messaged without the aid of Exchange.) Currently, there's no iWork app for the iPod touch so you can't download attached documents, though you can view them. But that's likely to change.

Battery Life and Conclusions
Apple rates the battery life for the iPod touch at an impressive 40 hours for audio and seven hours for video. We ran three different battery rundown tests. With Wi-Fi on, and the screen constantly on (meaning Auto-Lock is disabled) and audio playing, we got a reasonable four hours and 25 minutes. With Wi-Fi off and the screen going dark (Auto-Lock set to one minute), we got a great result: 47 hours and 25 minutes. For video playback with the screen brightness at maximum and with no Wi-Fi on, we got one hour and 41 minutes--not enough time to watch a full movie, in most cases. Using lower brightness levels would seem to be necessary for extended video playback.

There are very few devices left that you can actually compare directly with the iPod touch. Many manufacturers have thrown in the towel and are taking on slightly less daunting targets, like the nano or the shuffle ($49, ), or are instead focusing on tablets. The only real problem with the touch is its high price—especially if you want a decent amount of storage. But with an entry point of $229, you do get a camera, HD video recorder, music and video player, portable gaming console, Web browser, e-mail, and app device in one slick, pocket-size package. There's just no other portable media player that can do what the iPod touch can do.

Xavier Hernández i Creus (born 25 January 1980 in Terrassa, Barcelona, Catalonia), more commonly known as simply Xavi (Catalan pronunciation: [ˈʃaβi]), is a Spanish footballer who plays as a central midfielder for La Liga club FC Barcelona, where he has spent his entire 13-year career.

He has been capped 101 times for the Spanish national team, with whom he won UEFA Euro 2008 and the 2010 World Cup. He was named Player of the Tournament by UEFA at UEFA Euro 2008.^[2]

Xavi is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the world.^[3

1998–2004

Xavi is a product of Barcelona's La Masia youth system and has been a regular at Camp Nou since the age of 11. He made his way through the youth and reserve teams and was a key member of Jordi Gonzalvo's FC Barcelona B team that won promotion to the Second Division.

His progression through the teams earned him a first team debut on 18 August 1998 in the Super Cup final, in which he scored against RCD Mallorca. His début in La Liga came against Valencia CF on 3 October 1998 in a 3–1 victory for Barcelona. Initially featuring intermittently both for the reserve and senior teams, Xavi scored the only goal in a 1–0 victory over Real Valladolid when Barcelona were 10^th in the league. Sustained impressive performance meant that he became a key member of Louis van Gaal's title-winning team. An injury to Pep Guardiola in the following 1999–00 season meant that Xavi became Barcelona's principal playmaker, a position he has retained ever since.

2004–2008

He was the vice-captain in the 2004–05 season. In the 2005–06 season, Xavi tore the ligaments in his left knee in training; he was out of action for five months, missing the majority of the playing season, but returned in April and was on the substitutes bench for the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final.

2008–09 season

He was a main part of Barcelona's treble and scored the 4th goal in the 4–1 win in the Copa del Rey 2008–09 final against Athletic Bilbao, with a free kick. In La Liga, among many games, one of the most significant is the 6–2 El Clásico victory vs Real Madrid on 2 May. He assisted 4 out of 6 goals (once to Puyol, once to Henry and twice to Messi). Finally, Xavi helped Barcelona win the 2009 Champions League Final versus Manchester United, which ended 2–0, assisting the second goal by passing the ball to Lionel Messi's header after 69 minutes. Xavi was voted "UEFA Champions League best midfielder" for his contribution during Barcelona's victorious 2008–09 UEFA Champions League campaign.^{[citation needed]} Xavi was La Liga's highest assisting player with 20 assists.^{[citation needed]} He was also the highest assisting player in the Champions League with 7 assists. Xavi earned 29 assists overall that season.^{[citation needed]}

Xavi is under contract to Barça until 2014 after extending his contract during the 2008–09 season. The new contract will make him one of the club's biggest earners, and entitle him to €7.5 million a year.^{[citation needed]}

2009–10 season

During the 2009–10 season, journalists increasingly noted Xavi's contribution to the Barcelona side. For example:

"Quite simply the best midfielder in modern football, and one of the greatest 'centre' midfielders of all time. It could even be argued that Xavi and Lothar Matthaus are the two best in this position in history. World class for several years now, it is the past three seasons in particular where the 30-year-old has been untouchable. Xavi’s passing is up there with Michel Platini, he creates countless goals with genius through balls while virtually never relinquishing possession."^[3]

In the 2009–10 season, Xavi again topped the assists table and provided both the assists in Barcelona's 2–0 victory against Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. He was acclaimed the 2nd best player of Barcelona in a season-long voting as Barcelona won the league title with a record 99 points.^{[citation needed]} On 3 June 2010, the Spanish, Madrid-based newspaper Marca awarded Xavi third place in the annual Trofeo Alfredo di Stéfano award for the best player in La Liga, behind only Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.^[4]

2010–11 season

On 9 June 2010, Xavi signed a new 4 year contract with the club, which may be automatically renewed up to 30 June 2016 based on number of games played.^[5] On 29 November he scored his third goal against arch-rivals Real Madrid in a 5–0 home win. On 18 December he scored another goal against RCD Espanyol in a 1–5 win. In the Champions League, Xavi scored a valuable goal against English side Arsenal FC during a home match in the UEFA Champions League that saw Barcelona passing through to the quarter-finals with an assist by teammate Lionel Messi.

He was one of the three finalists for the 2010 FIFA Ballon d'Or, alongside Barcelona teammates Iniesta and Messi, he finished second on the vote behind Messi.^[6]^[7]

He narrowly defeated Lionel Messi to win World Soccer's Player of the year.

On 2 January 2011, in a league match against Levante, Xavi made his 549th appearance for the club in all competitions, matching the record held by Migueli. Following this match Xavi is the player with most appearances with Barcelona of all time.^[8]

Adam Gilchrist:-

Adam Craig Gilchrist AM^[1] (born 14 November 1971), nicknamed Gilly or Church,^[2] is an Australian international cricketer who currently captains Kings XI Punjab and recently captained Middlesex.^[3] He is an attacking left-handed batsman and record-breakingwicket-keeper, who redefined the role for the Australian national team through his aggressive batting. He is considered to be one of the greatest wicket-keeper-batsmen in the history of the game.^[4]^[5] He holds the world record for the most dismissals by a wicket keeper in One Day International cricket and the most by an Australian in Test cricket.^[6]^[7] His strike rate is amongst the highest in the history of both One-day and Test cricket and he currently holds the record for the second fastest century in Test cricket.^[8] He is the only player to have hit 100 sixes in Test cricket.^[9] His 17 Test and 16 ODI centuries are the most by a wicket-keeper.^[10]^[11] He holds the unique record of scoring at least 50 runs in successive World Cup finals (in 1999, 2003 and 2007)^[12] and is one of only three players to have won three titles.^[13]

Gilchrist is renowned for walking when he considers himself to be out, sometimes contrary to the decision of the umpire.^[14]^[15] He made his first-class debut in 1992, his first One-Day International appearance in 1996 in India and his Test debut in 1999.^[3] During his career, he played for Australia in 96 Test matches and over 270 One-day internationals. He was Australia's vice-captain in both forms of the game, captaining the team when regular captains Steve Waugh and Ricky Ponting were unavailable.^[16]^[17] He retired from international cricket in March 2008.

Gilchrist was called up for the Australian One Day International (ODI) team in 1996, his debut coming against South Africa at Faridabad on 25 October 1996 as the 129th Australian ODI cap,^[3]^[44]^[45] after an injury to incumbent Ian Healy.^[28] While not particularly impressive with the bat on his debut, scoring 18 before being bowled by Allan Donald, Gilchrist took his first catch as an international wicketkeeper, Hansie Cronje departing for a golden duckfrom the bowling of Paul Reiffel.^[45] He was run out for a duck in his only other ODI on the tour.^[19] Healy resumed his place during the 1996–97 season. Gilchrist replaced Healy for the first two ODIs in the 1997 Australian tour of South Africa, after Healy was suspended for dissent. When Healy returned Gilchrist maintained his position in the team as a specialist batsman after Mark Waugh sustained a hand injury.^[46]^[47] It was during this series that Gilchrist made his first ODI half-century, with an innings of 77 in Durban.^[48] He totalled 127 runs at 31.75 for the series.^[19] Gilchrist went on to play in theTexaco Trophy later in 1997 in the 3–0 series loss against England, scoring 53 and 33 in two innings.^[19]^[49]

At the start of the 1997–98 Australian season, Healy and captain Mark Taylor were omitted from the ODI squad as the Australian selectors opted for Gilchrist and Michael di Venuto. Gilchrist's elevation was made possible by a change in policy by selectors, who announced that selection for ODI and Test teams would be separate, with Test and ODI specialists selected accordingly, while Healy remained the preferred Test wicket-keeper.^[50] This came after Australia failed to qualify for the previous season’s ODI triangular series final for the first time in 17 years.^[51] The new team was initially unconvincing, losing all four round robin matches against South Africa in the 1997–98 Carlton & United Series,^[52] with multiple players filling Taylor's role as Mark Waugh's opening partner without success.^[52] Gilchrist also struggled batting in the lower order at number seven, the conventional wicket-keeper's batting position, scoring 148 runs at 24.66 in the eight qualifying matches.^[19]^[53] In the first final against South Africa at the Melbourne Cricket Ground Gilchrist was selected as Waugh's opening partner. In a particularly poor start to the new combination, Waugh was run out after a mix-up with Gilchrist.^[54] However, in the second final, Gilchrist struck his maiden ODI century, spearheading Australia's successful run chase at the Sydney Cricket Ground,^[19] securing his position as an opening batsman.^[55] Australia won the third final to claim the title.^[56]

Touring New Zealand in February 1998, Gilchrist topped that Australia averages with 200 runs at 50.00,^[57] including a match-winning 118 in the first match.^[19] He also effected his first ODI stumping, the wicket of Nathan Astle in the Second ODI in Wellington.^[58] Australia then played two triangular tournaments in Asia. Gilchrist struggled in India, scoring 86 runs at 17.20.^[19] He went on to play in the Coca Cola Cup in Sharjah in April 1998, a triangular tournament between Australia, India and New Zealand. Australia finished runners-up in the tournament, with Gilchrist taking nine dismissals as wicketkeeper and averaging 37.13 with the bat.^[59]

Gilchrist won a silver medal at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, the only time cricket has been in the Commonwealth Games. The matches did not have ODI status, and after winning their first four fixtures, Australia lost the final to South Africa, Gilchrist making 15.^[19]^[60] He then scored 103 and ended with 190 runs at 63.33 as Australia took a rare 3–0 whitewash on Pakistani soil.^[19]

Gilchrist was in fine form ahead of the 1999 Cricket World Cup with a productive individual performance in the Carlton & United Series in January and February 1999 against Sri Lanka and England. He finished with 525 runs at a batting average of 43.75 with two centuries—both against Sri Lanka—and a fifty, and a total of 27 dismissals in 12 matches.^[61]^[62] His 131 helped Australia set a new record for a successful run-chase at the SCG,^{[citation needed]} and he followed this with 154 at the MCG, a new Australian record ODI score.^[19]^{[citation needed]}

The 1999 tour of the West Indies was Australia’s last campaign before the World Cup and continued to prove Gilchrist's ability as a wicketkeeper-batsman. Gilchrist, with a batting average of 28.71 and a strike rate of nearly 90.00, and seven fielding dismissals in a seven-match series which ended 3–3 with one tie
