Japanese Tattoo Art - The Tattoo As a Part of Underworld Gangsters

2010-09-07T20:02:00.000-07:00

The land of the rising sun, that's how people describe Japan. This is where different types of people are situated, from popular celebrities, electronic experts, robots and gangsters. In addition to that, culture and tradition have a huge influence in their everyday living. The Japanese are also excellent when it comes to visual designs. One of the popular designs used until now is the Japanese tattoo art.
History of Japanese tattooing
Archeologists concluded that tattoos started from early settlers in Japan or the so called "Ainu" tribe. Back to the early civilization, tattoos were used as facial identities. This is how people determined what tribe they belonged and what tradition they performed. Japanese tattoo art has been present for around centuries. But as years passed, simple tattoo designs turned into innovative and meaningful images. Aside from flowers and dragons, Japanese are now featuring endless choices including heroes and weapons used in wars.
Tattoo designs featured by gangsters of Japan
Japan is also known for underworld gangsters like Yakuza for example. In the past, tattoos are illegal to Japanese people and this thing was distinguished from the rest of the population. Although, there were people who have tattoos in their bodies, still authorities marked tattooed individuals as criminals. These individuals have discriminated the whole people in Japan. This is the main reason of forming underworld gangster known as "Yakuza".
Women as part of gangland society
Since then, tattoos were worn by these people symbolizing status and dedication. As featured in several movies, Yakuza tattoos involved magnificent styles and full body masterpieces. The design is quite difficult. It comprises complex curves, circles and Japanese symbols that only tattoo experts can do. During early years, Yakuza's members only involved men. Today, many women also become integral parts of Japan's gangland society.
As part of the gangster's tradition, wives and girlfriends of top Yakuza members often undergo extensive tattooing. Even in some countries, Japanese tattoo art was still in used. Try watching WWE and you'll see that some wrestlers get inked with these designs, including the world's famous Rey Mysterio and Japanese's pride Rikishi.
Japanese tattoo art is increasingly popular in the world today. Thanks to people of Japan for creating these meaningful images. Regardless of gangsters, the art of tattoo will always represent freedom for everyone. If you're interested with this kind of art, you should decide first. You should understand that tattoos are lifetime responsibilities. In order to avoid regrets in the future, you should have the willingness to carry it for the rest or your life.

Flower Tattoos

2010-09-07T20:00:00.000-07:00

The lotus flower is to the East what the rose is to the West. In fact, these are the two most popular flower tattoos.
Beauty and Detachment
The lotus flow has a story to tell - a flower that grows in mud and emerges pristine and pure, to bloom in perfect beauty, floating sublimely on the surface of the water. Because of this, it is seen as a symbol of detachment - being in the world, not of the world. Each night it closes its petals, each morning it opens to the sunshine and the world, closely resembling the human activity of sleeping and waking. It is not hard to understand its appeal.
It has been a source of wonder and inspiration for thousands of years. When people have searched for a description of perfect beauty, many have used the lotus flower as the epitome.
Mystic Qualities
It is strongly associated with Hinduism and Buddhism - both religions use the flower as a symbol of perfection, a symbol of the divine, giving it a mystic quality like no other flower. In some cultures the color of the lotus flower has different meanings - white for purity, blue for goodness and red for enlightenment. The ancient Egyptians regarded the blue lotus as sacred and a sign of purity as dirt did not cling to its petals.
Hope and Endurance
It has extraordinary hardiness. Its seeds can lie dormant for two hundred years and then bloom with the first rains. Its stalk is tough and not easily broken. The Chinese saw this as a symbol of fidelity.
The lotus flower tattoo symbolizes new beginnings, new hope, new life, longevity and endurance. Because of the importance it holds in so many cultures, the lotus flower has been depicted thousands of times. This means there are numerous lotus flower tattoo designs. You can choose one to help express your personality and your feelings. You can send a message to the world or you can simply wear a lotus tattoo for yourself - to give you strength, to give you hope, to lift your spirits, to remind you to never say die, to endure.

How to create a unique skull tattoo...? by David Wesenburg

2010-09-03T09:36:00.000-07:00

There is literally a limitless amount of tattoo designs out there, but one of the coolest and yet rarely seen ones is skull tattoo designs. The reason we like these tattoo's so much is because you can take them and make them mean so many different things and no matter what you do to them they will always to cool. In this article you will learn how to design the perfect skull tattoo for yourself.

a. The location of the tattoo
One of the first things that you need to think of when getting a tattoo is where you are going to put it. With Skulls, you can put them just about anywhere and they will look cool, but the truth is these kinds of tattoo's always look better on the persons back or on the back of their calves. Don't get me wrong though, just about anywhere will work

b. Choosing the color
Let's think about this one for a second, when was the last time you saw someone get a tattoo of a skull and they actually added color to it? Probably never right? When most people get one of these tattoo's, they always make them black and white. Adding your favorite color is one of the best ways to personalize them.

c. The actual design
There is nothing wrong with wanting to get just a skull, but a lot of people want to spice it up a bit and add to the skull. If you want to add to the skull, one of the best ways to do that is to have fire coming out of it or maybe have some snakes coming out of the eyes.

Miley Cyrus Has First Tattoo All Planned Out By Ashley M Ford

2010-08-28T19:22:00.000-07:00

The Disney star can't seem to keep herself out of scandals and she is only 16 years old. First it was the topless photo shoot that caused some much drama, even though she had a bed sheet covering herself and all you could see what her back. She is also involved in a law suit regrading all the Asians in CA , due to a photo of her pretending she was Asians. She is also ridiculed for her close relationship to her father, well one more thing can be added to that list, a tattoo.

Miley is not quite of age to get a tattoo just yet but that hasn't stopped her from wanting to get one. Like most girls Miley's age they want a tattoo. Well it seems Miley has already picked out what she wants as her first tattoo and to the seasoned tattoo person its the ultimate tattoo no no. This tattoo design that Miley has picked out is not the wisest of tattoo design. She wants to get the initials of her 20 year old boyfriend, Justin Gaston.

One would think that her parents Billy Ray and Tish would put their foot down and advise their daughter that getting the initials of a boyfriend who is more than likely just a teenager love affair is not the best idea. But it seems Billy Ray and Tish are ok with this because of a new tattoo ink that has come out that promises to be more effective when you want to get one removed by a laser. Either way getting tattoos removed is painful and expensive. It's best to just skip the whole boyfriend initials thing and get a butterfly or a heart tattoo instead.

How to Find 'cool tattoo' for You

2010-08-20T21:02:00.000-07:00

Choosing the right tattoo varies from selecting a random design that you think looks good, to actually researching the meaning behind a particular tribal art tattoo. Here are two ways to choose a tribal art tattoo for you:

1.Choose randomly a tattoo. This tends to be the most common method individuals use, and it's unfortunate for a number of reasons. There has been a heavy trend towards tribal art tattoo designs in the past ten years, and many have hopped on the bandwagon, gone out and randomly chose a picture of tribal tattoo they thought was "cool". Had it not been trendy they wouldn't have ever thought to choose a tribal art tattoo to place on their body. These type of tattoo decisions are where regret later sets in after the trend wears off. Many feel foolish after realizing how "un-unique" their tattoo is while seeing everyone else with the same tribal art tattoo on their body.

2. Choosing meaning in your tattoo. Finding meaning when looking for a tattoo, can be done out of a rationalization that this will somehow justify hopping on the trendy tribal bandwagon. If you truly are after significance in your ink then do your due diligence, but if your a trend hopper then just hop on and be done with it.

Fortunately for those seeking symbols or meaning, searching for a tribal art tattoo, can be very rewarding and exciting. You can begin by researching the various tribes and finding a picture of a tribal art tattoo, and learn the meaning behind it. Native Indian, North American Indian, Pacific Northwest American Indian, Indigenous, African, Egyptian, Mayan, Aztec, Hawaiian, Samoan, Maori, South Pacific, Micronesian, Polynesian, Melanesian, are but a few tribal tattoo art designs to look into.

kat von D tattoo - inspiration girl tattoo

2010-07-31T05:51:00.000-07:00

Kat Von D was born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Her father is René Von Drachenberg and her mother is Sylvia Galeano. Her parents were born in Argentina but her father's ancestry is German and her mother's is Spanish and Italian [1]. Kat, a middle child, has a sister named Karoline and a brother named Michael. She moved to Los Angeles at age 4 and grew up in Colton, California. She credits the prominent Latino culture of Los Angeles as being a major influence drawing tattoos in her art and style.[2] She began listening to the Ramones, the Misfits and other punk rock bands at the age of 12. She quit school at 14 to become a tattoo artist.[3][4]

Von D was asked to work at Miami Ink when Darren Brass had broken his elbow.[5] She had a falling out with Ami James which led to her leaving Miami Ink. She has said that she hasn't spoken with any of the members of Miami Ink since her departure. [6]

Following this she got her own show, LA Ink. In the show, she works at her tattoo shop, High Voltage Tattoo, in Hollywood, California. On the show, she gained the Guinness World Record of most tattoos given by a single person in 24 hours, with a total of 400.[7] This was broken shortly after by her ex husband Oliver Peck with 415, and then later was smashed by Derek Kastning with 726.[8]

She has a book compiling her artworks and tattoos, which was released in January 2009, called "High Voltage Tattoo" with a foreword by Mötley Crüe's Nikki Sixx. The book traces Von D's career as an artist, from early childhood influences to recent work, along with examples of what inspires her, information about the show and her shop, her sketches, and personal tattoos. In a January 2009 interview on Anytime with Bob Kushell, Von D said about the book: "It's not an autobiography, you know, 'cause I'm too young to do that. But this is just kind of like a picture-driven outline of my career as an artist. So, you see everything from my drawings when I was six to tattoos that have never before been seen."[9] She was one of the contributors to Carrie Borzillo-Vrenna's book Cherry Bomb in which she gave tips on tattooing.

Von D created a make-up line for Sephora,[10] and is the creator of the Musink festival.[11]

Von D married fellow tattoo artist Oliver Peck in 2004, but divorced in 2007 and began dating Nikki Sixx. However, on January 24th, 2010, Nikki posted a MySpace blog saying: "I want to wish Katherine nothing but the best in her life. She has loved and inspired the hell outta me and I know I have done the same for her in these almost two years we ruled the earth together. We are taking a break from our relationship for reasons that we will choose to keep personal. You won't find me saying a bad word about her and I don't believe vice versa, we have too much wonderful history together to ever deface that." As of approximately March 2010, the couple are back together, confirmed on both Sixx's twitter and radio show, Sixx Sense. below is a picture of tattoo designs from kat von d
