Bright blue is the color of the sky on a cloudless summer’s day. Why not bring some of that brilliant and inviting color into your home for a cheerful living year round? Looking through my one of my favorite sites One Kings Lane, I found these great tips on 'How to fold napkins' . Designers John Dransfield and Geoffrey Ross, founders of the home accessories line Dransfield & Ross, reveal their favorite napkin-folding ideas.

Read on for step-by-step instructions to create four unique and stylish napkin looks. This is how the pro's do it.

Roll Fold

“Love the roll because it shows off a napkin's pretty edge; plus, it’s a snap to do”

How-To

Fold napkin into a square.
Roll napkin, starting from unadorned side.
Slip a napkin ring over the loose roll, exposing all four layers of trim.
Place napkin horizontally over the plate to give the setting a dynamic and unexpected look!

Box-Pleat How-To

Fold napkin into a rectangle, leaving a little space between the trimmed edges.
Repeat fold for an even skinnier rectangle (and what looks like the start of a paper fan).
Flip it over so that the smooth side is up, then grab the top edge and fold it toward you.
Line up your edges for a tailored look fit for any formal occasion.

Spade-Shape Fold

How-To

Fold napkin with trim into a square.
Grab closed corner (the corner without trim) and pull a couple of inches of the fabric through the napkin ring.
Place the softly draped fold over the center of the plate for a sculptural spade shape.

How-To

Fold napkin into a square.
Starting at the most open and decorated corner, bring the top layer toward the closed corner.
Repeat with the subsequent napkin layers, bringing each corner slightly lower than the previous one so that none of the trim overlap.
Turn the triangle over, smooth side up. Take one of the narrow corners and fold it halfway over; repeat with the other corner.
Flip back over for an architectural fold.

I recently did custom order for a customer for her cream / beige couch. She wanted a set of three decorative pillows with a black and cream combination and chose one of our black throw pillow covers with random stripes embroidered on it , this pillow is usually done in silk taffeta but since my customer wanted the whole set in 100% pure dupioni silk. In addition to that we decided to do one more pillow in a simple but elegant 12x18 inch black pillow with a cream panel. This is how it turned out. Let me know what you think?

Nursery Decor in pastels- My baby's room - Due August 22nd 2011

I am expecting a little girl in a few months and am just trying to think of furnishing and decorating my baby's room. I really want the baby room to have a warm, light, airy feel . I don't necessarily want to have a theme but am partial to butterflies, birds and polka dots . I want the room to be practical too with items that could transition from baby to toddler and one day pre-teen and teen. I want most of the items to be hand made at least handcrafted . Rather than only pink I really love a mix colors like aqua blue, powder pink, mint green and yellow .

Some of the rooms below have give an idea of the color and look I am going for.

Color Inspiration:

I really like the mix of brights and pastels here , this is just the look I would like with a little less bright colors. I would like to put touches of fuchsia pink, bright orange, turquoise blue mixed into my pastel base colors. I hope It won't be too much.

Love the overall look of this nursery not a big fan of the chest of drawers though.

Interesting Decor Find: I love this cocktail umbrella wreath that I came across on pinterest.com . It is so easy to make , just get some white hard foam wreath form from a dollar store. The paper drink umbrellas can be ordered online (www.wesellcoffee.com) but they can also be found in a party store near you.Make sure you pick some really colorful ones. All you do is open the umbrellas, hot glue the stem of the umbrella and push the stem of the umbrella into the foam form until it is covered all around. Add a loop of wire to back to hang and you have this lovely spring wreath!

"Everything we've brought into this house is environmentally sound," declares the actress. With the recent installation of a well-engineered heating and cooling system, her home now draws half as much power from the grid as it used to.

The home was decorated by L.A. designer Sasha Emerson who is known for her playful and free-spirited work. The newest item in our store is this lovely throw pillow embroidered with ginkgo leaves.

I love everything Japanese from their food to the simple elegance of Japanese decor.One of the many symbols used in Japanese decor is the ginkgo leaf. For centuries, the people of Japan—and of the world—have been inspired by the beauty of the ginkgo tree and its unusually leaves. The ginkgo leaf is a popular motif in Japanese art, ceramics, textiles, family crests, symbols or logos. In the East, it is considered a symbol of longevity, hope, resilience and peace. The tree itself is know to live for over 2000 years.

This cushion cover is made from art silk fabric paneled and elegantly embroidered with ginkgo leaves. The fabric is in pastel shades of peach, gray and white with a teal blue silk band , the leaves have been embroidered in shades of brown and blue.

It has also been finished with our signature invisible zip. The size is 16X16 inches but can be custom made in the size you require.

I would like to dedicate this blog post to Japanese people even as they recover from disaster. My heart and prayers go out to them. This leaf is symbolic of who they are as a people and I wish them hope and blessings at this time.

Weird and Wonderful Helga's folly - truly unique in decor and style

'Decoration is madness' says Helga de Silva Blow Perera from Helga Folly in Kandy , Sri Lanka. Hidden away in the Hill Country this strange and wonderful place was once her private home and is now a Hotel ...well Helga refers to it as a anti-hotel. Helga's folly takes on its owners personality- bold and eccentric. The large, sprawling building painted in crimson red stands out like a beacon on the sprawling hillside . The inside is a explosion on the senses. Brightly painted figurines, mural, dripping candle-bras, rich hues, gorgeous silk cushion covers every surface. Each room has it's own style of decor and is something to discover. But Helga's folly is not for everyone the statues and wax candle bras makes it a bit eerie, it is not for a place for fainthearted. Love it or hate it, it is truly unique place.

I love things on walls , not haphardly arranged things but when someone makes a bit of wall the focul point with artistically arrange frames , plates or some other item they find interesting.

I loved this image called ‘Metroquadro’ by Paola Navone for Richard Ginori 1735. It's by one of the winners of Elle Decoration International Design Award (EDIDA) ,

‘Metroquadro’ is a collection of dinner plates, bowls and dessert plates that are lavishly decorated on the outside , they are placed on the wall using wall hooks and brakets. A simple idea ? yes! I can image we can all do something like this. I can just imagine my sniffing around antique shop looking for the perfect plate :) After the baby perhaps !
