Lady Baroness Thatcher

Baroness Margaret Thatcher may have passed away a few hours ago, but that does not diminish her ability to stir controversy, even in death, you can almost call it an ability.

She has remained the only female Prime Minister to date in Britain, while she was alive as the Prime Minister of Britain, she took so many unpopular decisions.

She led the Tories for three consecutive wins, she did not lack critics even while winning accolades for her country in far away Falkland Island.

Infact, almost all her moves never failed to draw anger, this did not mean she did no good, she was never nicknamed "the iron lady" for nothing.
She was credited for signing the single European Act that brought a lot of European countries together, she single-handedly changed the political landscape of her country and far beyond.

She is notable for her tough stance during the pivotal strikes of 1984 and 1985, so much that the left wing in British politics are still begrudging her even in death.

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4878516/margaret-thatchers-death-sparks-angry-response-from-critics.html

She still stands tall, no matter her many controversies, of course as it is common with all beings, a lot of noise will be made on her death, and encomium will be showered on her in death in death than when she was alive.

This is hoping her critics will move on to other players in Britain politics, now that the popular "Iron Lady" is gone.

Right from the onset the battle for the plum job of replacing Mr. Robert Zoellick at the World Bank has never being an individualistic thing, hence the ritual of priming and rewriting of the CV and interview was just what it is; a boring ritual.

The battle has always being a fight for dominance between the World powers and the rest of the world therefore it is not just your competency that matters but your backers, therfore when Nigeria's finance Minister, Dr. Okonjo Iweala showed interest, Colombia's Jose Anthonio Ocampo who are not major players in the world scene could not have withstood Dr. Jim Yong Kim who is an Asian American and America's candidate for the post.

She stood out as the under dog to be beaten ,and the American and Euope's candidate Kim did beat her silly, the Bretton Wood institute had a master and it would have been strange if he did not win considering Obama's interest in securing a second term for himself, if he can not do a simple job of installing a candidature in an institution where Americ calls the shot.

Return to the Niger Delta beauty

The beauty and resources of the Niger Delta people of Nigeria is better experienced than told, this was confirmed on a recent journey to one of the former restive region in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The region has been the focus of the entire world following spate of kidnapping as well as the oil brouhaha in recent past, but things have since changed and instead the idylic setting has turned up to soothe the pain and shocking violence of the past.
The remnant of the past can still be sniffed, the presence of patrolling military men at the habour serves to remind and perhaps keep any fanciful "Rambo" at bay.
The visit to Yenagoa in Bayelsa State began from Lagos where a flight took us to Port Harcourt, the one hour trip did not prepare us to the swamp.
The comfort of the plane as well as the chit chat in an opulent setting definitely gives one a false sense of the shape of things to come, it actually felt like a boy scout trip in its infant stage.
We had to wait for the driver that knows the layout of the road, coupled with the monthly environmental exercise that was holding in Rivers State.
The trip to Yenagos, Bayelsa took about one hour, it was a lush greenery setting with a little glimpse of what lay ahead, of little villages with thatched roofing dotting the road.
The ubiquitous security check point helped to slow down our speed as well as the road construction which never seems to end. The habour at Yenagoa is such a beautiful setting offering a first time visitor a delightsome experience.
Boats of various shapes and design lay unused and
seems almost deserted.

The presence of soldiers serves as a reminder of the gruesome and violent past, while some of the officers were by the makeshift tent, others lazed around, while some were inside the parked military boats.
The first encounter with the people began almost immediately we boarded with the presence of several canoe drivers soliciting for passengers in the local dialect, "Pidgin English" mixed with english.
The length and breathe of the river took my breathe away, its cheer greenery with the locals casually fishing as if its a romance with the river itself, without any care in the world.
Without any warning the rain shower begins, it may seem casual in writing, but when you are caught in the middle of a big river it is a different matter since there is no where to run to for shelter.
When the rain subsided and our boat eventually berthed at the final point it was sheer pleasure to climb out and watch the traditional dancers performing on their canoes.

1) A horse should never eat the grass underneath it.
You might ask why, because the horse will topple over, hence Dominique's fall from a potential presidential candidate of France to an alleged sex predator/rapist.

2) Those who come to the altar of equity for justice must come with clean hands.

This singular lesson was what led to the dismissal of the case since Nafisatou Diallo assumed that crying wolf alone will tilt all the card as well as the jury in her favour, alas all the double speak led to the house of cards she built up.

3) All that glitters is not gold.
Gold is a glittering metal that tends to cause disorientation sometime, this might perhaps be what led Nafisatou to the several versions of story she told investigators.

To cap the whole story, it may not be such a bad story foe her since she has the alternative of selling her story to a magazine or book. She might even get a film spun out of the dark web called treachery, blackmail or "kiss and tell".

London bridge is burning down!

Policemen dragging a man along during the riots in London

The children nursery rhyme, "London Bridge is burning down" more than aptly describe the ongoing nightly riot that has engulfed the metropolitan city reminiscent of the Arab uprising which consumed major dictatorial government in the Middle East.

The riot which has entered into its third night was supposedly started when a protest march following a killing of a man went awry.

As it stands, the riot seems to have take a life of its own just like in the Middle East, the issue has changed from the protest of a killing to welfare issues as well as economic ones.

The police seems to have been caught pants down because of the level of planning which has been attributed to the use of Blackberry messaging among the rioters.

The rioters whose age range from 11years upwards seems bent on turning London upside down with the level of carnage unleashed on the city nightly.

Lord have Mercy!

It seems the August wedding plans of popular Nolywood actress Mercy Johnson to her Prince, Odi may have gone up in smoke considering the huge scandal that has engulfed the dream.

From the evidence, it seems Prince Odi is yet to secure a clean divorce from his enstranged wife, Lovely before proposing and embarking on a new journey down the aisle.

The whole mess may have caught Mercy who is trying to settle down fast unawares, hence the attempt by her publicist to offer a press release denying a cancellation of the wedding recently.

The question hanging now remains who is lying? Prince Odi or Lovely?

According to Branson, he had no master plan for raising such a big business empire as the "Virgin", instead he and his friends take each day as it comes.

He believed that companies should be allowed to evolve organically, and among the surprise suggestion was "the fun factor", Branson believes you should have fun while growing your business.

He said, "In 1970, my friends and I weren't planning to do anything other than make some money and have a good time while doing something we loved. We loved listening to music, so we tried to sell records to other kids who wanted a fun place to hang out while deciding which ones to buy. We had no marketing plan or budget – our goals were simply to make enough money to pay the rent and our suppliers, and to have some cash left over at the end of the month".

This system may sound too plain at first glance, but its ingenuity is nothing short of a genius thinking, he placed a lot of emphasis on having fun while raising your new business, as this helps to move the pace forward.
According to Branson, " If I think back to what we did right, it was in our planning process, when we made sure we were having fun working together and that everyone who had a good idea was included in our decision-making process.

So if you are just kickstarting your business, or you already in the thick of it, and have that feeling of been overwhelmed by it all, now is the time to take a breather and re-asses where you may have gone wrong.

Branson

The big hearted entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson has taken on yet a new challenge, that of swimming across the Iris sea, but this is for a good cause, to help raise one million pounds for Cancer research Uk.

The Irish sea is popular for its roughness, and the feat has only been completed by a team of swimming profesionals in the past. Branson will be joined by a few celebrities like Ronald Keating, TV's Jason Bradbury, Jenny Frost and Steve Perry who won bronze at the 2004 Athens Olympics.

The good thing is that there are few slots left for those who have the guts to join the swimming team, so if you want to take a chance of a lifetime, you can join Sir Branson in creating a record and do some good for humanity by visiting http://www.the-swim.co.uk/ before 31st July, 2011.

If you don't have the guts of jumping into the cold choppy water you can sponsor the team at http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/theswim.

The next victim is the whistleblower..

Sean Hoare, the Whistle blower

We blogged earlier about who the next victim of the phone hacking scandal will be, now it seems Sean Hoare who was found dead has been named as the latest victim, one of the first set of people to blow the lid on the scam may have been a victim of the tsunami.

Hoare was found dead on Monday according to a police statement, the police are not drawing any conclusion yet on the cause of death, but investigation continues on the cause of death of Hoare who lives in Watford about 40 kilometres northwest London.

Hoare has suffered from alcohol abuse for quite a while, and close neighbours said he is paranoid, always fantasysing conspiracy by government and police.
The former IMF boss's trouble over the rape of a hotel maid seems to be evaporating on a daily basis considering the many version told to investigators and hospital officials.

In what seems to be an overkill by the hotel maid, she seems to have over-embellish her story with the ferocious attack unleashed on her by the 62 year old former world bank boss varied from running out after the attack to waiting for the acussed to get out of the room.

In all, it seems it is the lies she told immigration that is her undoing, We feel sorry for her because she seems to have lost on all front. The kind of friends she keeps and her unsatiable thirst for blackmail will definitely not give her any credence.

It seems Mr. Olajide has made it a habit to travel around with stolen boarding passes, as he was found with over 10 boarding passes in his bag when searched.

The battle which started some time ago with the lauch of "buzz" by Google did not take off as it was expected, the launch of the "Google + or if you like it call it plus is interesting and really calls for a close monitoring. Mark Zuckerberg will no doubt be restless even as he wonders if the new project which was unveiled on Tuesday will sweep the crowd away from the phenomenon called "Facebook".

A cursory look at Google + shows good potentials as it is so easy to move around the new application, and the issue of privacy which has hunted the two companies in the past was well worked out in the new apps and it is a meeting point of all Google applications.

Google + will be available to a limited number of users initially, but the company is yet to let out when the field trial will be over. I have sent in my application to find out whether I will be accepted or not on Google+
I will be waiting to see whether my friends on Facebook will swing over, or whether i will need to retain my account on FB.

The Internet and Hackers on the loose

The Internet no doubt has managed to up the game in terms of revolution in the information age that we have found ourselve in, but what has changed the game is no doubt the "Hackers" and all that they stand for, "a rebel without cause" for want of a better word.

Most of the hackers 90% of the time are usually youngsters who have too much time on their hands than they know how to utilise it, the spike in the number of hacks usually coincide with the end of academic activities in developped countries, and being priviledge to grow in a society where so many things are taking for granted, it is natural for them to drift aimlessly into crimes that is threathening the root of the society as we get to understand it.

The time is ripe to get this restless kids more occupied rather than let them loose on the rest of the world that is too shell shocked to respond to a world that is just unfurling.

In the developing world where lots of people live under $1 a day, the struggle is for survival and it is unheard of that such opportunity are wasted just for the fun of it.

Kids like LulzSec had their jobs cut easy for them, hence the shout of owning the world that reverbrate whenever they de-face or break into another major site

There are lots of kids in African continent who do not have access to an ordinary computers, does not know how to operate one and may never get the opportunity to enjoy education as it is known.

It is an irony of life that while the youngsters of the developed world are on the loose in the cyberworld fooling around with technology, the young mind in African nation and a lot of other developing world are loosing their minds to either crime or confusion of "what is really happening"

Shoot first think later

Have you ever heard the term "Shoot first, ask questions later"? It may sound like a dangerous thing to do, although the first thought that may come to mind all point to arms and ammunition, but it is no longer such a dangerous thought especially when related to photography and cameras.

An amateur photographer will most likely point the camera and click away before asking questions or bothering to know how to redress the head that got chopped of in the hurriedly taken shot.

This will no longer be a dangerous thing to do when you need to take a picture with your camera and the fuzzy shots that might come out because you did not focus properly, you might ask how?

A new camera technology has arrived that allows you to shoot first and focus later, yes! you heard me right, the new camera slated to be out later this year is called "Lytro".

<img border="0" i$="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgRXUAk9P2XFwGgkRNydl6OS9OsWGT1qoTDkuyRB51BFgfujbt7gZj7bh2v8YwSP376CoBuVB0F2Eq8674G3-MJJxGrWk2T7j9OjI3Lh9rlwIsHVKmefcxhS6qfpCI871VKph7UYBZHSq0/s1600/Ren+Ng.jpg" />

Ren Ng, CEO of Lytro

You might want to ask how does it work? When you view a picture taken with a Lytro camera on the computer, it allows you to shift the focus either forward or backward so that you shift the focus either to the mountain at the background or the tip of the nose.

Video of MoHits signing with Kanye’s G.O.O.D.
If you feel overloaded by the level of e-mail you receive on a daily basis, then you should consider the new kid on the block in the techy backyard, its name is "courteous.ly" its a new application that allows you to manage your mail load to a manageable size.
