Series: Well of Souls
List Price: $2.99
Sensuality: PG-13
Stars: 3.5/5

Synopsis:

After being dumped at the altar, Deanna Cameron seeks a fresh start in
life. She gets more than she bargained for after accepting a new job,
when an Immortal Guardian sends her five hundred years into the past.
She can't return home and a magnificent highland warrior accuses her of
being a spy.

Ian Mackay knows the beautiful woman that appears in
his castle must be a spy. After all, she's a Cameron, a clan he
despises. The powerful magic surrounding her obstructs his Druid senses,
plus he finds he can't stay away from the temptress. But loving Deanna
could come with a price too high to pay. Will she be the downfall of his
clan—or its salvation?

My Opinion:

The first time Ian spots Deanna, he know she is his soul mate--unfortunately, she is destined for the well of souls. Ian acknowledges that he can't have her in the present, but he might be able to convince Robert to send her back to the 15th century. But there is one little problem: He doesn't know how his human self will react to Deanna, especially since her last name is Cameron, the same last name as his clan's arch enemies. Can they overcome suspicion and time, to find their happily ever after?

When I started the novel, I wasn't for sure I would like the book. It was slow, and quite frankly--weird. But I wanted to give the book a chance, so I persevered, and read until the part where Deanna flies to Scotland (still in the present); that's when it started to get interesting. So interesting, in fact, that I read it all in a couple of hours. Not a record for me, but I only read that fast for good books.

The thing I did not enjoy, was the times where the POV switched from past to present and back to present, and so on. It became very annoying and slightly confusing, but I DID enjoy reading the historical parts. I didn't so much like present Ian as much as 15th century Ian (maybe it's the kilt--I do so love a man in a kilt). Not sure why, but he seems whinier than he used to be.

I would very much like to read Richard's story one day. He is so mysterious in Immortal Desires, we learn almost nothing about him, even though he appears in the story as much as a main character would.

This book was a great read that would delight women of all ages (and maybe men)!

Recommendations??

This book is recommended to historical lovers, that don't mind paranormal twists. And of course, If you enjoy men in kilts, you might want to take a peek into this book!

dealt with her fair share of wild animals, but her reclusive life is
forever changed when she meets an elusive former soldier named Daniel
Phillips. Sent to Pamela’s wildlife sanctuary as part of his parole
requirements, Daniel and Pamela quickly clash until Daniel’s troubled
past unexpectedly comes to light. After serving in Iraq, Daniel suffers
from post-traumatic stress disorder. Pamela tries to help ease his
condition by introducing him to the healing power of animals. Daniel
begins to find peace, and an unexpected kindred spirit in Pamela.
Fearing one day she will be forced to give up her beloved sanctuary,
Pamela confides in Daniel about her debilitating health. United by their
misfortunes, the relationship turns romantic. Just when Pamela has
found someone to love and share her burdens, Daniel skips town,
crushing her heart. Suddenly Pamela finds herself alone and in a
desperate situation. She has no choice but to turn to a ruthless
Louisiana attorney, Bob Patrick, for help. Bob promises Pamela financial
security in exchange for a life as his obedient wife. When Daniel
unexpectedly returns, Bob is not willing to give Pamela up. Like an
ensnared bird, Pamela struggles to free herself of her cruel capture.
The fight may prove deadly, but Daniel is willing to do anything to save
her. Can two broken souls eventually find happiness or, like the broken
wings of a dove, will they be forever kept from reaching the heights of
heaven.

My Opinion:

My first thought of this novel is, "new and original." in all my years of being a die-hard romance reader, I have never read a book such as this. Broken Wings is a delicious romance filled with cuddly creatures and heartbreak. I so enjoyed this adventure!

Pamela's relationship with the animals is phenomenal! It's hilarious reading about Rodney the Raccoon hugging "Pammy's" leg like a little child. I think now I'd rather have a raccoon. I would say, " too bad their wild," but I think that's what makes this book so incredible, that they ARE wild, but that they love Pammy like a mother. It's fascinating!

One of the things that really drew me to this book is that Pamela has lupus. Why does that interest me? I can relate to having a chronic illness such as lupus. I have an auto-immune disease very similar to lupus called Multiple Sclerosis or MS. I'm always looking for a character that I can really relate to. I can definitely relate to Pamela's struggle with lupus.

I found Dan and Pamela's courtship amusing. The way Pamela tries to push him away, the way it only brings him closer. This could almost be romantic comedy...Well, not really. BUT, it's still funny!

Ah, what can I say about Carol. She is my favorite HUMAN character. She's hot, she's witty, she swears colorfully. Everything I love in a woman.

But you know my favorite thing about Ms. Weis? She engages your intellect. Trust me, you will need your brain to understand the tricky ending. It's in no way a bad thing; if Broken Wings was a brainless read, then I would be bored from the first sentence. I wouldn't change anything in this book!

Recommendations??

If you own a brain, love romance and a tad bit of drama, this is the book for you!
Synopsis:

For Alexia Cross and Justin McNear, things are not what they seem. Both were born and raised in hidden, gated communities. A place where time virtually stands still and marriages are arranged by parents before a child’s 18th birthday.

Alexia is destined to be her community’s first spinster. In a last ditch effort, a husband is found. The only complication? He has no idea he has been betrothed. Will his history of dating outsiders help or hinder his relationship with his future wife?

Justin McNear searched outside his church for the woman of his dreams. Returning home after failing, he knows he needs to rectify his life and his faith. Can a woman he’s never met make him whole again?

Will this couple end up mocked by their own faith? Follow Alexia and Justin through the trials and tribulations of finding, falling, and surviving each other's love. It’s never easy saying “I do” to someone you don’t know.

My Opinion:

I’m almost ashamed to admit I didn’t finish this book. That rarely happens to me, even if I’m not particularly enjoying a book, I usually finish it to find out what happens, with the hope that it improves by the end.

This book is very religious themed, and not being a religious person in any way, it didn’t click for me. The sex is fairly graphic, which seemed very odd to me, and some of the things the couple went through after their wedding where shocking to me.

Recommendations??

I would personally not recommend this book to others. If you are a strict, religious person who also enjoys romance novels, then this might be right up your ally.

She
hides behind her widow status every time her wealthy neighbor, Wade
Laweson, shows interest in her. He's a constant temptation, but she
feels her time for love is over. When she has to take on a boarder after
a drought destroys her wheat crop, her control is tested having Jackson
Taylor, a strapping, young rodeo rider, under her roof. He is
impulsive, passionate, and makes her feel young again.

With both
men turning on the charm, insisting she accept the wanton woman waiting
to be freed, she's in for a losing battle. Will she be able to give her
guarded heart over to both men and find a new happily ever after? Note:
There is no sexual relationship or touching for titillation between or
among the men.

My Opinion:

This story is filled to the max with sexy cowboys, uninhibited sex, and romance that makes it seriously easy to fall in love with. Not only the characters, but the story as well. I can honestly say by the end of the book, I was in love like I've never been before!

I first heard the description, "buckle bunnies" I think in a Nora Roberts a few years back. I still chuckle when I come across it. Just had to interrupt this review to say I enjoyed the laugh again.

This book could be described as a novel about a still grieving widow of 15 years finding unconventional love in the arms of two sexy cowboys. I just love a romance that is so different then the norm. This one is a winner! I also like the fact that she is in her forties. It goes to show you don't have to be young to find true love; you just have to be alive.

The only thing I found distracting was in the bedroom the two men talked things through too much. I kept saying in my head, "shut up and get to the good part!"

All in all, it was fantastic! Good job, Ms. Espino.

Recommendations??

If you are into sexy men in cowboy hats (who isn't?) and finding true love, read this!

Sometimes a journey of the heart is the most dangerous journey of all. Sally Wheeler learned the hard way that men aren't always what they seem. Now she will stop at nothing to track down the bigamist husband who stole her child and abandoned her on their failing Kansas farm. Even if it means traveling with a handsome maverick who could change her mind about men.

Free after spending seven years in prison for a crime he didn't commit, Rob Truman aims to balance the scales of justice on the man who sent him there—Luke Wheeler. His quest doesn't include falling for the one woman who will lead him to his quarry, but Sally's courage in the face of her fear touches his soul.

Through dangerous days and nights on the trail, neither Sally nor Rob can ignore their growing feelings for each other. Yet both are haunted by the poor judgment that, in the past, led them down the wrong road. Love—and trust—are luxuries neither of them can afford.

But as the bullets start flying, love may be all that saves them—and Sally's son.

Warning: This title contains ornery mules and ornery men. Get ready to see how the West was really won – one relationship at a time!

My Opinion:

My favorite character in this book would have to be Moss. The way he talks to himself, his feigned gruffness, makes him a cutie. I love a gruffy man.

I had a blast following Sally's journey to Texas. Even though the adventure was terrible and at sometimes heartbreaking for the characters, I learned a lot from them. For us in the 21st century, a trip to Texas might entail a long or short airplane trip (depending on where you live) or possible a slightly uncomfortable car ride. For the characters in A Desperate Journey, a trip to Texas is a dangerous journey full of feral Native Americans and hunger. I'm delighted that Ms. Parmley didn't sugar coat the trip, making it unrealistic. She showed us how the trip might have gone if the characters were real people and for that I'm impressed.

Sally's determination fuels mine. Sure, I'm not itching to snatch my kid away from an abusive hubbie, but I do have people and things that are troublesome (we all do, don't we?). The way she never gives up, helps me to be courageous just like her! Characters that we hero-worship help us (or just me. Either way, it helps) to be strong in real life situations. For example, I have a bunch of medical problems that usually go on all at the same time. I read Sally's determination and strength and want to be just like her.

This book really engages a reader's emotions. I can't even count how many times I teared, laughed, and became rapt with excitement. When a book captures emotion to that length, you KNOW it is a great book, destined (hopefully) for best-sellerdom.

I really liked this book! You know my opinion now, check it out yourself, then tell me how you like it!

Recommendations??

Historical fiction lovers would enjoy this thrilling adventure! Anyone that is a fan of justice would enjoy delving into this read.

Thanks for allowing me to interview you, Amy! Here we have author of From Zero to Four Kids in Thirty Seconds. I asked her here to talk about her life's work, her family, and just anything interesting.

Well, here we go. First question, when did you decide you wanted to write novels?

When I discovered Erma Bombeck’s books as a teenager, I hoped that maybe my life would be interesting and funny enough one day that I could write something humorous, too. Of course, back then, I had no idea I’d end up marrying a guy with four kids, and that I’d end up with a small zoo inside my house.

Haha, I don't think anyone does. Sounds like my house when we had a friend living with us. Oh, man, it was crazy. When did you publish your first book?

My book From Zero to Four Kids in Thirty Seconds was published on Amazon as an e-book in December 2011. The paperback version was published on Amazon in March 2012.

So, it hasn't been very long. When did you write your first book (published or not)?

My book took about a year and a half of concentrated time to write. In my house, there isn’t much concentrated time, though, because I have a fun husband, two dogs, a cat, a ferret and twelve hamsters. If I ran away for a couple of months, I could probably get more writing done, but what fun would that be?

Wow! That's insane. Never thought I'd find anyone with a crazier house than mine. WSo, whe you have a chance to read, what is your favorite genre?

Humor. I find a lot of humor in life and think there are still people in need of a good laugh. In my book, I laugh at myself, my beau, Mark, and even my mother. My blog postings at amylpeterson.com are also light-hearted.

We always need some laughs in our life, I'll have to subscribe to your blog. do you have a muse that sparks your creativity? If so, what/who is it?

I find a lot that’s amus-ing but I don’t have a muse.

Interesting. Well then, what sparked the idea for your novel(s)?

When I became a stepmom in the mid 1990s, there weren’t a lot of uplifting resources out there to help me figure out what I was getting myself into in becoming a stepmom. So I sat down and started writing what I had experienced, which, with some distance, was pretty darn funny. I also realized that my experience was all the more interesting because I was dealing with three girls and one boy, and because of their ages—three, five, 13 and 15. Based on my experience, I include 70 tips in my book, including “Tip #12: There is no dictionary of common toys children play with, or a book of common responses when, say, dolls are sick. Relax and trust yourself to blunder through.”

That will be soo helpful for all soon-to-be moms! Do you ever listen to music when you write? If so, who do you listen to?

I only listen to music when I need to shut out any noise around me, like when the NCAA basketball games were on in the background—not that I’m not a basketball fan but well, most games are won in the last few minutes, so I tuned them out until then. Because my computer is old and slow, I generally just go to free tunes on an online radio site and get right back to typing.

Ah. My laptop has had tons of viruses, so I know how you feel. Do you have a certain place where you write the best?

I would write best on a tropical island with a warm breeze and birds singing and where a guy name Swen brought me those colorful fruity drinks whenever I need one. But since that’s not likely to happen, I settle for my kitchen table mostly.

Haha, I think we ALL would do our best (or worst depending on our attention span and how hot he was) work. What is your favorite part of writing?

Two things: the positive responses from people who said they got a laugh or two from my writing, and the amazing people out there that do reviews, book blog sites and help authors promote books without getting a dime for their efforts. The passion of the book-ish people out there is amazing.

It's always great to find people as in love with books as myself. Do you have a favorite author?

Erma Bombeck.

Do they ever inspire you as you write?

She did….

Can you describe your writing routine for us?

I write for a half hour during my lunch break at work in the inspiring setting of a government office cubicle. After work, and after dinner, exercising the dogs and other housely duties, I write in the evenings until my eyes go cross-eyed or I find myself writing gibberish. On the weekends I write every spare moment I can, which is why there are some really nifty cobwebs in my house.

What advice would you give someone trying to become a published author?

Network, network, network. I’ve stumbled upon one site after another related to books and it’s taken months to begin to figure out which sites have advantages for me and which do not. For example, BookBlogs has been the number one site for me to get followers, subscribers and Like-ers and for finding book reviewers, several of whom are participating in my upcoming book blog tour. I found you there as well! Authonomy is a good site for writers with or without complete manuscripts, but only the most popular postings get reviewed by editors at this site, which is run by HarperCollins. So it takes a while to figure out the various sites and how best to use them. Then it’s a matter of finding the time to use them.

Yes, I've learned you need to network a lot to get popular. I like to use Goodreads, BookBlogs, and Amazon. Do you ever do book signings? If so, where can we find you?

In November 2011, I discovered that Michigan State University has a machine that can crank out paperbacks in the time it takes to make a cup of espresso. I had numerous copies of my book made there to give to reviewers, friends and family, which helped get the word out while I was hiring out someone to professionally format my book for online book sales. My first book signing was at my mom’s and involved two of her best friends getting MSU copies signed. I blogged about that to remind myself (and others) that every author has a humble beginning. In an ongoing effort to stumble upon a publisher, from April 8th-28th I’m having a virtual book tour, and many of the tour spots will have give-aways of the final paperback version of my book (imagine glossy cover, fancy fonts) which I will sign for the winners. My dream is still to have a book signing at a book store, which is why I appreciate the exposure from this interview. Thank you!

No, thank you! We readers do so enjoy learning all about authors and how they write. It's a fascinating thing.

Hobbies/Home Life

What do you do you do for fun?

I throw on my ghillie suit, creep outside in my backyard or around a nearby park and photograph wildlife. I also enjoy fishing, particularly when I out-fish Mark.

Very nice. I love photography, and I have a brother thaat is a fishing fanatic. Can you tell us about your kids?

I have four great stepkids that are all 21 and older and either contributing--or on their way to contributing--to society somehow. Because they chat with me when they call and at least pretend to like me, they’re my best evidence that at least some of the advice in my book is sound. They all show up for birthday parties and holidays and are all really great kids.

That's great! Are you married? How did your hubbie propose?

My hubby—who is by nature quite cool and confident--asked for my dad’s permission to marry me in Chapter 7 of my book which is called: “Is That Sweat Dripping Off Your Forehead, Honey?” He proposed to me in the next, hilarious chapter, “Delay of Game: Ten Yard Penalty.”

Huh. I can't wait to read your book to find out EXACTLY what happened. What’s your favorite food?

I’m impartial to Mexican food because it’s tasty and messy. My all-time favorite restaurant is The Roadhouse Mexican Bar and Grill in the tiny northern Michigan town of Benzonia. Their icy cold beer is nice, too.

Yumm. Favorite drink?

Mark and I found some amazing tropical drinks at a restaurant in Bonaire on our honeymoon years ago, but that place didn’t survive a particularly evil hurricane. With that no longer an option, an icy cold beer will do just fine.

They sound tasty! Favorite color?

Right now, blue. My book cover has a nifty shade of blue that’s bright and cheery. You can see it and read comments about my book on my landing page.

Favorite music genre?

Whatever Adele is classified as.

Haha, she's her own genre! Just kidding I just have no idea...Favorite artist?

Adele. And I’m a die-hard John Denver fan. Both Adele and John have phenomenal voices and their range is amazing, though John is probably more home on the range than Adele.

I've never heard of him. I'm more of a AC/DC type of girl. When you are at home alone, what is the first thing you do?

Get my lap dog situated on my lap, turn on the computer and whistle while I network.

Haha, that sounds great! Thanks for allowing me to interview you!

<link rel="alternate" type="text/html" href="http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/blogspot/JWLQj/~3/CH4dqmwxZAk/author-interview-amy-l-peterson.html" title="Author Interview **Amy L. Shawn provides security to the company elite and their families. Desperate, she knows no one else to turn to that she trusts.
Shawn is the secret grandson of Brent Lyon, the chairman of the board of Lyon International. After Brent asks Shawn to come to his office they talk about their past and how Brent regrets his earlier decisions. Brent had disowned his daughter, Shawn’s mother when she ran off with a want-to-be rock star. She had raised Shawn on her own until she died a few years earlier. Brent had invited Shawn back into his life only after her death, and only to a small degree, which had to remain a secret to avoid scandals which could ruin the corporation.

My Opinion:

As we all know, those first few pages of a book determine whether we, as readers, continue reading or set it down and moving on to a more gripping novel. I can happily say that Mr. Ray did an exceptional job of capturing the reader’s attention and holding it throughout the book. I was hooked from the moment I read the first paragraph.

As a child of my generation, I can say I spent way too many hours watching Law & Order, CSI and any number of other crime shows on TV. We all know how it goes… crime happens, victim reports it, then detectives spend the better part of an hour trying to solve the mystery of “whodunit”, when in reality we sit on our couches at home and can guess with a 98% chance of accuracy who the culprit was after the first 5 minutes. The same goes for most book. I can enthusiastically say that this was not the case in The Heritage! I thought I had it figured out more than once only to have a stumbling block placed before me on the next chapter. I just kept going, so engrossed in the story and the romance that was slowly developing before our eyes. It was almost as if I couldn’t help myself. I just had to see what happened next.

For those who would notice things such as grammar and typos (and let’s face it, even spell check gets things wrong when it auto-corrects so we can’t hold the author accountable for all of them), I did spot a few typos and grammatical errors through out the book. The most glaringly obvious one being the comment “being raped can be a terrific thing for a person to go through” when I’m sure the author meant to say that it was a terrible thing for a person to go through or maybe even horrific. I mean who honestly believes rape is a terrific experience? These instances, however, were so far and few in between that they did nothing to lessen my enjoyment of reading The Heritage. I greatly enjoyed it and look forward to reading more by this author.

Recommendations??

If you enjoy reading mystery or suspense but dislike being able to guess the ending before you’re ¼ through the book… you will love The Heritage. For those not into reading romance… that’s okay, the small amount of romance involved is short and sweet. This book is more about the mystery of who raped Kristina and is now trying to force her into getting rid of the evidence.

Gabriel Caine stands on the edge of the abyss. A vampire has stolen his soul and if he doesn't get it back soon, his next step will be into Hell. Only the naïvely mysterious Rose can help him retrieve it. Without her, he really will become the devil himself. Rose Walters has been sent back from the dead to complete one task-save Gabriel Caine. She's drawn to Gabriel on the most basic level, but restoring his soul may cost Rose her life. Rose has touched the whole of Gabriel, making him yearn for a love he believes he can never have. Her willingness to put her human life on the line for him forces him to bring all three parts of himself-demon, human, and Feri bloodlines, and the strengths of each-into harmony and into the fight that decides their fate.

I love cats, demons, witches, vampires and some angels. And gardening. Oh, and cooking, and wine. And I totally adore teenagers.
For some reason, I’m constantly drawn into conversations that start with protecting ourselves from a zombie apocalypse, and spiral out from there. So you can see why I’m a writer.

My Opinion:

Ms. Betham gave us a good solid read with strong characters. Often, when you have a story with so many primary characters, their personalities and the story itself starts to blur. This did not happen here. Every characters was distinct and had strong personalities of their own. I, however, found it difficult to like our heroine (and I use that term very lightly!). India Stevens, how I dislike thee… let me count the ways! India starts off as a very good character. She’s a hard working young woman who, during a corporate fundraiser, finds herself discovered by one of Hollywood’s biggest stars. In no time at all she is carted off to Hollywood and starring opposite the hottest star in the country in his latest movie role and she, herself, all of a sudden becomes the latest “IT” girl to hit the big screen. Sounds like the stuff fairy tales are made of, right? If the story ended there it would have been. Instead we are forced to endure as India turns into a selfish, self-centered celebrity. No longer is she the sweet English girl whose sweet smile stopped Hollywood's hottest star in his tracks. She jumps from one relationship to the next with nary a pause in between, using men and sex as a way of dealing with anything she finds too much to handle, leaving a string of broken hearts in her wake.

What I don’t understand is what it was about her that made these men fall so deeply under her spell that they actually put up with her. First there’s Kenny… yes, he cheated… technically. All he really did was kiss someone else. Does India stick around and try to fix the problem? No. Instead she runs… and on to the next man. But she still “needs” Kenny in her life. So he has to get over the fact that he still loves her and just be her best friend, watching her move on with other men. Then there’s Michael. Supposedly the love of her life. She’s never loved anyone like she loves him. This, however, does not stop her from cheating on him... Repeatedly. But God forbid he do the same just once. This is a capital offense and just cause for her to end their relationship. Gee… double standard much? Let’s not forget JJ! Barely a couple of weeks and she’s cheating on him too! And through all this, Kenny is still in the picture, still hopelessly in love with her, but resigned to the best friend role where she tells him in great detail how in love she is every time she’s got a new man in her life and how she's never felt like this about ANY other man before. Why don't you twist the knife while you have in in there, India, it might hurt less.

And we’re supposed to root for her? Cheer her on? Sorry. Can’t. Instead I found myself disliking her more and more with every page I turned, hoping all these guys would snap out of whatever spell they’re under and come to the conclusion that anyone is better than India.

Why 4 stars if I disliked the main character so much? Simple. The story has a great premise. It was well written and keeps you turning the page, even if it is in hopes that India finally gets hers. The male characters do tug at your heartstrings. And you do root for each and every one of them and hope they each get their own happy ending. Once you start reading you find it very hard to put down. Personally, I started reading and finished the entire story in a day, not realizing that I had sat reading for so long. It was that engrossing. That to me makes for a highly recommended book. Because just like in life, you’re not always going to like the outcome. You’re not always going to agree with the things a person does or how they handle a situation. And the best person does not always win in the end. The least you can ask for is a few hours of escape. The most is that the book makes you feel strongly, one way or another. And this will most definitely make you feel strongly about each and every character. Well done, Ms. Betham!

despises and take over the family business in the Caribbean when her
father becomes too ill to continue. As captain of the pirate ship Gypsy
Doll she plunders the seas to support them both.

Charles "the
Charmer" was first mate on the Gypsy Doll before he was shanghaied and
enslaved to a brutal master. On his escape, he swears revenge and uses
his charm to convince Gina to help him win the biggest prize of all, one
with enough gold to allow them to give up pirating forever.

But betrayal swirls in the air as surely as a stormy sea, and the curse of the gypsy doll makes betrayal more than dangerous...

My Opinion:

There's not much I can write about when reviewing a novella, but I absolutely can tell you how much I enjoyed delving into a world full of sexy pirate's, action-packed adventure, and delicious romance. If you aren't sold yet, keep reading...

Readers (or just me) are instantaneously addicted to all the goings on happening in Pirate's Proposal, because Ms. Layne is a fantastic writer! I usually don't enjoy such a short read, because I feel like I haven't gotten to know the characters well enough, but this is not the case! This novel took me on a grand adventure of blue waters and yummy men, and I'm telling you, if Charles and Gina don't work out, I call dibs!

The Gypsy Doll is something new and exciting--I've not read anything like it. There's nothing I enjoy more than mystique and magic (well, maybe hottie pirates, but that's besides the point); this novella did not disappoint!

Recommendations??

If you enjoy pirate's as hot as Jack Sparrow (swoon), adventure as fun as Indiana Jones, and romance as yummy as Romeo and Juliet (without the sad ending) please pick up this book on Amazon! You won't regret it!

Come to Camp Winnehatchee!
For new experiences. (With boys!)
For the great outdoors. (Where you can find yourself in nature. With boys!)
For adults-only activities. (Best shared with men!)

For
venture capitalist Adam Sutherland, attending Camp Winnehatchee's
reopening was a no-brainer. He's even reuniting with former camp
counselors to chip in and help revive the camp. What he isn't expecting
is to find a girl sleeping in his bunk. Or that the girl is none other
than Julia McKee, who went from shy and awkward Good Girl to
scorching-hot babe….

But the good girl is all gone…and she's
headed off to Paris! But before she goes, Julia intends to show her
bad-boy childhood crush just how to put the "wild" back into the
wilderness! And this time, he'll be the one left wanting more….

My Opinion:

This book was funny, sexy, and downright fun! I had a delightful adventure following Julia around as she helped reestablish Camp Winnehatchee. But I had an even better time watching her fall back in love with Adam and reading all about their hot chemistry.

I can relate to Julia's childhood. I was the same as her when everyone else was out playing with their friends, I was inside reading a book. Books were (are) my best friends, and I am not ashamed to admit it. I love to delve into the pages of a good book, and not emerge until four or five in the morning. That's just the way I am.

Back to the review...My favorite part of the story: When Julia and Adam meet again, I laughed out loud! Julia can do some damage with that swing of hers! Too funny.

I thought the sexual encounters were very original, very Kate Hoffman and no one else. Trust me when I say I have read tons of romance, erotica, straight sex. Some of the stuff in this book, I have never read before!

The part I hated most (because of Julia's embarrassment) was when they found her childhood diary! Oh, the horror! She wrote a LOT of entries featuring her and Adam.

Recommendations??

This book is a fabulous, chuckle worthy romance written especially to entice women. Go for it!

Fleeing the attentions of the handsome and commanding Marquess of
Darkefell, Lady Anne Addison arrives on the doorstep of her dear friend.
Seeking nothing but rest and relaxation, she soon finds herself putting
her investigative talents to work after a sighting of the Barbary
Ghost. Always a skeptic of the supernatural, Anne immediately suspects
the apparition is nothing more than a diversionary tactic to conceal
smugglers on the beach below her friend’s house.

When the
infuriating – though enticing - marquess follows her to Cornwall, Anne
is distracted from her ghost hunt by his alluring kisses, until murder
gets her attention. Forced once again to work with the marquess to
uncover the truth behind a mystery, she soon discovers that her
passionate attraction to him has not abated. Should she run from him
again, or give in to temptation?

My Opinion:

Lady
Anne and the Barbary Ghost
is a definite recommendation for me. In the first book, Lady
Anne and the Howl in the Dark,
I was a bit disappointed because the book felt unresolved. Now with a
continuation of the first book, I am satisfied to see their
relationship play out.

Personally,
I love Tony, the Marquess of Darkefell. He's dark, sensitive,
powerful and sweet to Anne, but Anne at times played on my nerves.
She's witty, intelligent, and loves adventure, but very independent
and believes that she doesn't want to marry, especially Darkefell. He
tries to convince Anne that he loves her and that they should marry
throughout the whole novel, but Anne feels that her independence will
end once she marries, and that her life will forever be controlled by
this man. For me, I felt a lot for Darkefell because he would
proclaim his love to Anne, and he only wanted to keep her safe from
harm, but she was convinced that he was only trying to entrap her
into a life where she had no freedoms and would be unhappy.

Previously
in Lady
Anne and the Howl in the Dark,
Lady Anne Addison had visited her friend, Lydia, after realizing her
friend needed her help. They were in danger, for a crazy murderer was
roaming around Darkefell castle and Anne set out to help her. On her
journey to Lydia, Anne encounters a murdered woman and wants to
discover the murderer and the strange howls she hears in the woods.
Tony, the Marquess of Darkefell, is Lydia’s brother-in-law and
finds himself intrigued by this adventurous spinster known as Anne.
Anne became caught up in a mess on Darkefell’s estate where she was
nearly killed by a lunatic named Hiram
Grover,
but Darkefell was there to save her life just in time. When Darkefell
made the spur-of-the-moment proposal to Anne, she panicked and left,
leaving him confused on her whereabouts and why she denied him.

In
Lady
Anne and the Revenge of the Barbary Ghost,
Anne now feels the need to get away and think her life through, so
she decides to stay with Lady Pamela and Marcus St. James in
Cornwall. One night while sneaking out on the cliff by the St. James’
home, Anne saw a vast amount of smugglers below on the beach
performing their tasks. She was intrigued, and frightened, but was
interested in the adventure lurking below. At that moment, she saw
the famous “Barbary Ghost” trying to scare away the smugglers.
Anne quickly ran back to Cliff House and told Pamela of her findings.
Supposedly, long ago there was a pirate who kidnapped a young girl
with whom he fell in love with, but had to return her to Cliff House
to her family where she later died. He was angry, and now there is
the tale of the Barbary Ghost taking revenge for his love. Later
throughout the novel, we find out that the Barbary Ghost is really
just a myth, but the man portraying as the ghost is trying to protect
his loved ones from the smugglers.

As
Anne tries to solve the identities behind the Barbary Ghost and the
smugglers, Darkefell walks back into her life. He spoke with her
mother and grandmother and they believe he will propose to Anne.
Anne’s family highly supports the marquess's interest to marry
Anne, although he hadn't asked them directly for her hand.

When
Darkefell follows Lady Anne to Cornwall, she confides in him all the
illegal activities at Cliff House and of the Barbary Ghost. He
doesn't fully believe in the ghost, but he is concerned for her
safety and decides to try to protect Anne by revealing the criminals
and whatever man is behind the “Barbary Ghost”.

Soon,
Darkefell realizes that Marcus St. James is interested in marry Anne,
but when Marcus rudely speaks of her as plain and unwanted, Darkefell
strikes him causing a scene. Anne first believes Darkefell is at
fault, but later understands that he was sticking up for her and
defending her honor. But when murder strikes Cornwall, and everyone
is eying each other as a suspect, secrets are revealed leading to
murderers, criminals, and love. Anne wants to confide all the illegal
activity she knows of by Cliff House, but she had made promises to
dear people in her life, and feels pulled on whether she should tell
him everything and break a promise, or put lives in danger and keep
the truth from Darkefell.

I
really enjoyed this novel, for when two different characters come
together, they will make the most interesting novel! Will Lady Anne
discover the murderer and find a way to stop the smuggling that
involves her loved ones? Will she realize her true love for the
marquess, or runaway again? Who is guilty, and who will is innocent
when it comes to love and crime? Read Lady
Anne and the Barbary Ghost
to find out!

novel continues with The
Curse of the Gypsy: A Lady Anne Mystery.
I recommend reading these first two Lady Anne books before reading
The
Curse of the Gypsy: A Lady Anne Mystery.
All three books are continuations of each other, so you might be a
bit left out on important events involving the development of the
hero and heroine.***

neighborly—Jefferson Holden and Kent Jessup loathe each other. But
despite his father’s long-held grudge, Haven Jessup just can’t bring
himself to hate, especially after Dakota Holden takes him in during a
violent storm and Haven meets Dakota’s friend, Phillip Reardon.

Phillip
accepts Haven for who he is, seeing through the mask Haven uses to hide
his attraction to men, but their tentative and secret relationship will
be under a huge amount of stress. Sabotaged fences, injured animals,
unsavory plans, and Jessup family secrets will threaten Haven’s newfound
happiness and his hopes of a future with Phillip.

My Opinion:

I adore the characters in this series. I found them to be real, somewhat quirky, and downright sexy. I'm sad now that I have finally finished the series (I read them out of order, this is not the last book). I guess I'll just have to reread to get my hot cowboy fix.

I have to gush over Haven's adorableness. He's shy and timid (which does not fit with his sexiness, but it works for him). He doesn't see his attractiveness, and that makes him ever so cute. He's a character you really just want to give a big, fat, hug not matter his orientation.

Phillip really surprised me. I don't know if it was his affair with Dakota (with his alpha male personality), but I never figured him for the dominant person in a relationship, but that's how it went down with him and Haven. I loved how we took the time to play out Haven's fantasies. He's caring and considerate; who doesn't want that in a man? I find Sexual Phillip weird (the whole leather fetish) , but oh so delicious.

Now I'm left with the agonizing question: why are all the good guys either taken or gay? I mean, that's good for Haven, but not for me. Sigh.

This book was fabulous! Cannot say how great Mr. Grey is at writing a romance.

Recommendations??

Promise of America chronicles the tumultuous adventures of an Irish
immigrant from his narrow escape from British tyranny to his marriage in
1895. Blessed with grit and good luck, William Fitzpatrick claws and
sleeps his way to wealth and power, beginning as a Tammany Hall bagman
the New York’s infamous Tenderloin. His assignation with the sensuous
Molly Dunn leads to friendship with the Park Avenue Barneys; plain,
passionate Anne and her gay husband Harvey. His adventures include a
rendezvous with quirky Scottish peers as the scene shifts across America
in William’s quest to claim his share of America’s promise.

My Opinion

The
Promise of America follows William Fitzpatrick from the death of his
father in Ireland to America. It's heartbreaking, reading about how poor
William, at the age of 10, watches his father being beaten and taken
away for defending his mother's honor. All of a sudden he is the man of
the house. Responsible for the welfare of his mother and his younger
siblings, he takes them to America where he works his way up from bagman
to self-made millionaire. Along the way he makes some very interesting
friends who help him realize his potential.

To
say I was surprised at the amount of sexual exploits William got into
is to say the very least. His character seemed to work his way up the
social ladder one bed at a time. The author does not go into explicit
detail, however, you do get to know every one of William's sexual
conquests, and trust me when I say there are plenty of them. William is
not the least bit discriminating when it comes to sex. Young... Old...
Heavy... Thin... He loves them all and loves them well until it's time
to move on to his next conquest.

I
took exception to a couple of things in this novel. The fact that
people married and had children young back then does not make it any
less disturbing to read about William's sexual exploits with much older
women. And let's not even go into the entire situation with Celeste.
She's 12 and I believe at the time he was in his early 20s! And
everyone's feeling (especially her own mother), that Celeste should be
proud that such a wonderful young man wants a future with her is just
wrong and disturbing in more ways than one.

This
is not to say that this novel did not have good points. So I will end
on a positive note. It was an entertaining story. The novel allowed us
to follow William as he went
from poor Irish immigrant to an important, educated man of great
wealth. We don't get a rose colored version of William's life as you
would in most novels. We see his troubles, the violence he witnesses,
the injustice... Everything. But we also get to see a young boy meet
some wonderful people who give him the opportunity and confidence to
grow up to be a man of means who never once forgets his roots or the
struggles his people back home are still facing and does everything in
his power to help. With the exception of the fact that technically he's a
child molester by today's standards, William is the kind of person we
would all be lucky to know.

Fans of period novels would enjoy this.

Thank you for the opportunity to interview you, Reina!

ABOUT WRITING

So, when did you decide you wanted to write novels?

I began writing novels in 2009. It started as more of a compulsion than a decision. :)

When did you publish your first book?

My first book, A Gentleman’s Daughter: Her Choice, was published in December, 2011.

When did you write your first book (published or not)?

I wrote my first book in 2009, though I’ve been writing short stories since I was a little girl.

What is your favorite genre?

It’s difficult to pick one, but probably either sweet romance or women’s fiction.

I like those genre's, too. Do you have a muse? If so, what/who is it?

Sometimes my muse is an actor (lol--like Sean Bean or Richard Armitage), or my own dreams or the world around me.

Cool, that's fascinating! What sparked the idea for your novel(s)?

The ideas for both my books were sparked by dreams.

Do you listen to music when you write? If so, who do you listen to?

I only listen to music when writing a contemporary novel. I make playlists which fit the novel--for Certain Sure (a contemporary romance), I listened to various songs, from “Come on Eileen” to Lou Rawls’ “There Will Be Love.”

Huh, I'll have to look them up. Where do you write best?

Anywhere, but usually at home while my sons are at school.

Haha, I can understand that. my brothers are LOUD. What is your favorite part of writing?

Getting to know my characters and having them take the story places I hadn’t intended.

Who is your favorite author?

For historical, Georgette Heyer. There are too many to list! :)

I've never heard of her either. I'm learning LOTS from this interview, today. I'm gonna have to look her up, too. Do they inspire you as you write?

Not exactly. I try to read a lot and learn from other writers, though.

Makes since. How have you grown as a writer since your first book?

I
believe I’m a better writer, both in mechanics as well as
characterization and plotting. I’ve learned so much in these last few
years about the craft of writing--and I hope to keep improving.

I hope you do, too! We always need a great, new writer! Can you describe your writing routine for us?

I
try to write every morning after I drop my sons at school. I come home,
make tea or coffee if it’s not summertime, open the computer, check
social media, and then write for a few hours. Sometimes chores get in
the way, but when I’m in the middle of a book, that’s the schedule I
strive for.

What advice would you give someone trying to become a published author?

Write
and read as much as possible. Join a professional writers group (I’m in
Romance Writers of America), take classes or attend meetings, and
follow the path you feel is right for you. I chose to self-publish, but
this path isn’t right for everyone. Find a path that works for you, both
in your writing and professionally, and stay on it. Of course, paths
wind and branch off in unexpected ways, but that’s part of the fun. :)

Great advice! Do you ever do book signings? If so, where can we find you?

Yes,
I’ll be on an author panel with a few other indie authors this May 19th
at the Castro Valley Public Library (CA). I post events on Goodreads,
Google+, Twitter, and my blog, reinamwilliams.com

ABOUT HOBBIES/HOME

What do you do you do for fun?

Write! ;) I like to bake, spend time with family and friends, read, shop--these days I find fun wherever I can! :)

Sounds fun. Do you have any kids? Let's talk about them.

I
have two boys--5 and 7--who are both in school. They’re a lot of fun,
though sometimes at night I just wish they’d fall asleep! They keep me
busy but it’s a good busy. :)

They sound like bundles of fun! What’s your favorite food?

A warm chocolate chip cookie.

Mmmmm, yummy. Favorite drink?

A Shirley Temple. lol

Haha. Favorite color?

Pink

Pink? Oh, dear, lol. Favorite music genre?

I don’t have just one--classical, pop, R&B, showtunes, and Big Band are my top 5.

Favorite artist?

In
music, DeBussy, Sam Ramey, Rogers and Hammerstein, and Tom Jones are a
few. In art, the Impressionists and Norman Rockwell. :)

When you are at home alone, what is the first thing you do?

Enjoy the quiet. :)

Me, too!

Thanks so much for having me on your blog, Sarah!

No, problem, it's been a pleasure getting to know you!
FRIDAY ROMANCE GIVEAWAY #2

1 Copy of A Desperate Journey

OR

1 Copy of Mocked by Destiny

A Desperate Journey Synopsis:

Sometimes a journey of the heart is the most dangerous journey of all.
Sally Wheeler learned the hard way that men aren't always what they
seem. Now she will stop at nothing to track down the bigamist husband
who stole her child and abandoned her on their failing Kansas farm. Even
if it means traveling with a handsome maverick who could change her
mind about men.

Free after spending seven years in prison for a crime
he didn't commit, Rob Truman aims to balance the scales of justice on
the man who sent him there—Luke Wheeler. His quest doesn't include
falling for the one woman who will lead him to his quarry, but Sally's
courage in the face of her fear touches his soul.

Through
dangerous days and nights on the trail, neither Sally nor Rob can ignore
their growing feelings for each other. Yet both are haunted by the poor
judgment that, in the past, led them down the wrong road. Love—and
trust—are luxuries neither of them can afford.

But as the bullets start flying, love may be all that saves them—and Sally's son.

Warning:This
title contains ornery mules and ornery men. Get ready to see how the
West was really won – one relationship at a time!

ABOUT ME: Debra Parmley

Debra was born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in Springfield, OH but
has lived in the Memphis, TN area since 1997. She attended Marywood
University in Scranton, PA and was the first student to win first place
in two categories of the Delta Epsilon Sigma Beta Epsilon Chapter
writing competition, in creative prose and in informal expository. Her
poetry was published in literary journals while attending college. She
holds a BA in English Literature.

Debra has traveled extensively and worked as an independent travel
consultant for several years. She has visited thirteen countries. She
has also worked in banking, newspaper advertising, as city recycling
co-coordinator, as an office manager, and as a belly dance instructor.

Her first short story, published in the anthology More Monsters From
Memphis, was a finalist in the Darrell Awards for best Mid-South short
story.

Her first novel, A Desperate Journey, a western historical
romance, was a finalist in the Bobbi Smith Creative Writing Challenge.
Not long afterward it was a finalist in the American Title II contest.
For those not familiar with the contest, she describes it as similar to
the American Idol contest, but for authors. Readers voted online and the
prize was a publishing contract. A Desperate Journey was published a
year later by Samhain Publishing.

Debra's second western historical romance, Dangerous Ties, was published Feb. 15, 2012 by Desert Breeze Publishing.

Aboard The Wishing Star, Debra's first contemporary romance, will be released Oct. 2012 by Desert Breeze Publishing.

When not writing, Debra enjoys dancing, primitive archery and medieval reenactment, yoga and traveling.

For Debra, writing is about joy. The joy of creation and the joy of
connecting with her readers. It is one of her greatest pleasures to hear
from her readers.

For Stella Richards, life in the charming town of Virginia Beach is not
as magical as one would think. Sun, fun, and sand only guarantee one
thing, unwanted visitors. Stella learned long ago to never befriend
anyone visiting the beach. They're here; then they're gone, drifting in
and out as the tide ebbs and flows. She vowed to never connect with
anyone vacationing in Virgina Beach - until spring break. Stefan changed
everything.
Stefan Sterling lives life never knowing where he will
end up next. Bouncing from one Military base to another has hampered his
ability to connect to those around him. That's what happens when your
father is a high-ranking officer in the military. Raised in a world of
discipline, control, and strangers, Stefan never expected to find anyone
he'd want to be close to...let alone love.
A family curse verses a
loving abnormality promises to keep Stella and Stefan on their toes. Was
it an accident or could it be destiny? Will they be able to survive
their families? And, is there ever a time when you can fully let go of
the person who awoke your soul?
A story of love, sacrifice, and growing up before it's time.

ABOUT ME: Michele Richard

Michele Richard is the proud mother of 2 daughters. Married since 1997
to a wonderful husband, who for 25 years has been her best friend and
supporter. Being an overly creative and caring person, she has been a
volunteer co-leader for the Girl Scout Troop for five years. She takes
great pride in teaching and guiding our future generations.

Her
desire to continue her education drove her to attend night classes at
Waltham High School. She refuse to just let life be. There is too much
to learn than to stand by and watch it go by. Though she is not fluent
yet in either, she has learned to speak French and Spanish in school.
One day her dream is to be fluent in both.

"I supposed that makes me a lover of languages. Never stop learning is my motto."

Travel
is one of her great passions. Having seen the beaches of the Bahama's,
Aruba and Mexico to the deserts of Utah and Arizona, her personal
favorite was bicycling down Mount Vail and standing on top of the
Intercontinental Divide, followed closely by the Grand Canyon.

"America is truly a beautiful place to see. I recommend seeing as much of it as you can."

FORGED IN FIRE SYNOPSIS:
Beth Brown doesn’t believe in premonitions until she dreams a sexy
stranger is gunned down during the brutal hijacking of a commercial
airliner. When events in her dream start coming true, she heads to the
flight’s departure gate. To her shock, she recognizes the man she’d
watched die the night before.

Lieutenant Commander Zane Winters
comes from a bloodline of elite warriors with psychic abilities. When
Zane and two of his platoon buddies arrive at Sea-Tac Airport, he has a
vision of his teammates’ corpses. Then she arrives—a leggy blonde who
sets off a different kind of alarm.

As Beth teams up with Zane,
they discover the hijacking is the first step in a secret cartel’s
deadly global agenda and that key personnel within the FBI are
compromised. To survive the forces mobilizing against them, Beth will
need to open herself to a psychic connection with the sexy SEAL who
claims to be her soul mate.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Trish McCallan

Trish McCallan lives in the wilds of Washington State.

An avid animal lover, she currently shares her home with two golden retrievers, a black lab mix and a cat.

FUN FACTS:
Originally, the manuscript was titled Zane's War and both the contests it finaled in were under this title.

Back
in mid February of 2010, I discovered J.R. Ward's Black Dagger
Brotherhood, and spent the next ten days totally immersed in the BDB
world. I don't think I slept more than a couple of hours a night and my
dreams were filled with Wrath, Rhage, V, Z, Butch and Phury. Even after I
finished the books, I kept thinking about them. And then one night I
had a very different dream. I actually dreamed the entire opening
sequence of Forged in Fire. When I awoke, the scene was so clear in my
head, I had to get it down. I guess you could say I was driven. I
abandoned the project I was revising at the time, and started working on
Zane. I've always felt the Black Dagger Warriors inspired Zane and his
warrior brethren.

Up until Forged in Fire, I had been a plotter.
Zane's book was pantzed every step of the way. I had no idea what was
going to happen from chapter to chapter. And I hated it.

Every
single hero and secondary hero in the Forged Series are a tribute to my
favorite author. Zane, Cosky, Rawls, Mac and Chastain, were all named
(either first or last) after the heroes in various books by my favorite
author. So far nobody has picked up on that fact!

My Opinion:

There's not much you can actually say about a five page story, but I will do my best. Even though this was a SUPER fast read, I loved it. It was a romance that teaches a lesson. I love those! This story was about facing your fears. Fiona is terrified of bees, but she was sent to get the story about a honey hunter. A majorly hot honey hunter.

A lot of people say when they read a short story, "I wish this was longer." I'm guilty of saying it too on occasion. However, that is NOT the case with this one. I feel like if one were to make it longer, they would change up the story, and I would have it stay exactly ow it is. It's perfect.

Recommendations??

If you're looking to read something not a billion pages long, this is your story. It's fabulous!

Seventeen-year-old Ismae escapes from the brutality of an arranged
marriage into the sanctuary of the convent of St. Mortain, where the
sisters still serve the gods of old. Here she learns that the god of
Death Himself has blessed her with dangerous gifts—and a violent
destiny. If she chooses to stay at the convent, she will be trained as
an assassin and serve as a handmaiden to Death. To claim her new life,
she must destroy the lives of others.
     Ismae’s most important
assignment takes her straight into the high court of Brittany—where she
finds herself woefully under prepared—not only for the deadly games of
intrigue and treason, but for the impossible choices she must make. For
how can she deliver Death’s vengeance upon a target who, against her
will, has stolen her heart?

My Opinion:

Grave Mercy is a unique read that has never been written before. I find the author to be immensely talented and delightfully creative. She has developed a whole new world! There is nothing more boring than reading a book that is the exact replica of another book. Fortunately, this is not one of them.

Book is so...fascinating! There is so much to learn, like the "nine saints" of Brittany. I have never heard of this stuff! Fabulous stuff is found throughout the pages of Grave mercy.

When Duchess Anne was mentioned, I realized she was young, but I never figured her to be twelve years old! A 12 year old Queen? Dear lord. Things were VERY different back then.

As much as I loved to read the adventures Ismae (fantastic name, by the way. So unique!), I did have one thing that I had a problem with:

There were a lot of places where the writing didn't flow as smoothly as I would have hoped. It became awkward to read in a few spots. I can't tell you how much I hate awkward lulls.

My favorite parts to read in this book were in the beginning. I loved it when the nuns where teaching the girls how to kill their (shudder) prey. It was so creepy, but awesome as well, and a little humorous, too if you're weird like me. These Sisters of Mortain are CREEPY (in a fascinating way)!

I never really enjoy a book that is written in present tense, but the obvious research that Ms. Lafevers did makes up for it. In all, I didn't hate it.

Recommendations?

This book is recommended for all YA romance readers, as well as historical and adventure lovers. I enjoyed reading it, and hopefully you will as well!

Genre: Contemporary/Novella/Erotica
Series: Safeword Series
List Price: $2.99
Sensuality Rating: NC-17
Stars: 4/5
Synopsis:

Matte, pronounced mah-tay, is the word used in some forms of martial
arts to stop a fight. It’s the Japanese word for stop or wait. Sam
(short for Samantha) has made a hobby out of learning the various
fighting disciplines, but she also happens to be a sexual submissive.
What better safeword than matte?

Sam wants to find someone to
submit to who she can’t beat in a fight. She’s tried to make it work
with men from the scene who know nothing about fighting, but it doesn’t
feel real to her – she needs someone who can truly control her. However,
after dating from the fight scene and discovering not all guys like to
spank their girlfriends, she’s decided to just back away from the whole
dating thing for a while… until Fate decides to step in.

Warning:
This title contains graphic language, consensual BDSM, bondage, and use
of toys including crops, clamps, canes, and floggers.

My Opinion:

This was a new sort of book for me. Not to say I haven't read BDSM before, but Safeword: Matte is a whole new world. No fun and games, this is series sadism, masochism. I learned a lot from this novel. It's not all about hurting or being hurt, it's about a different kind of pleasure. I felt very enlightened at the end of this story. I learned a lot about the BDSM scene afterwards.

The sex scenes (when they actually get around to it) are fantastic! Lost of description and detail. Not conservative in the least, which makes it awesome!

The book is centered around Martial Arts, and I for one found it fascinating. It remind me of a series by Lori Foster in that regard. Love it!

I enjoy reading romances set in Georgia. I live here, and always dig into a book featured in my Southern state. I love it here, and like to read about people who do as well.

The only problem I found in the book is that sometimes the words don't flow smooth enough. The picture is clear, it's not that I can't see what Ms. Blevins wrote, but sometimes dialogue is to proper for people who are so intimate. Fortunately, it doesn't distract too much from the story, so that's okay.

Recommendations??

How 'bout I tell you who is NOT the recommended audience? Conservatives, people who like a sweet, mushy romance. Anyone who is squeamish probably would not like it too much. There isn't any blood or gore (unless we are talking in the arena), but this is a story about a relationship between a sadist and a masochist.
My Opinion:

I’m a fan of historical romance and enjoy
being able to immerse myself in times gone by, even when I know very little
about them. The Night Lamp is set in the US Civil War – a period of history I
know Nothing about – and I hoped for good things. Alas, I was disappointed and
Did Not Finish. It had a slow start, but I persevered. Cole, the male lead /
hero, seemed attractive enough, and I felt I might grow to like Isa, his female
counterpart, but they just didn’t gel with me. I tried, I really tried, but by
the time I reached 60% I was over it.

So what was wrong?

There were a multitude of typos and grammar
glitches. One or two I can overlook, but this turned into an exercise of how
quickly I found the next one. And the next…

These could all have been fixed with a dose of
sharp editing, but it wasn’t just that. I found the plot confusing. Isa seemed
to be some kind of spy, delivering a highly important message to someone,
something to do with the war. Cole was both a bounty hunter tasked with
catching her, and a fellow spy – but of course, neither suspected the other.
The main Bad Guy (Banks) was blackmailing Cole, yet when he had a chance to
apprehend Isa (at a dinner party), he didn’t bother.

I couldn’t fathom Cole’s motives – or Isa’s.
They quickly became fond of each other, and in an attempt to hide the truth
from her beloved aunts, Isa agreed to a fake marriage (to Cole), and this
provided some light amusement.

It was a shame. The author had a nice way with
words, and some sections of The Night Lamp were beautifully written.

Isa watched Cole throughout the meal,
knowing manners and etiquette were served up as a side course.

A snail burrowed its head and
disappeared into the dirt. Small and
vulnerable, it would seek protection inside its fragile world. The steel
blade strapped to Isa’s calf comforted her more than any shell.

Genre: Historical/Erotic Romance/Adventure
Series: Romancing the Pirate
List Price: $4.79
Sensuality Rating: R
Stars: 4.5/5

Marisol Castellan is in trouble--again. Against her pirate father's
orders, she snuck off their ship to intercept a message meant for a
rival captain, one that offers a clue to the whereabouts of her
estranged brother Monte.

Pirate captain Blade Tyburn is not
pleased to find the letter he's been waiting for is missing. He's even
less pleased when he discovers the thief is a raven-haired beauty who
bewitches his senses and muddles his thinking. The note gives the
location of a silver-laden ship that'll make his fortune; Blade must
find it, and if that means bringing Marisol along on the voyage, so be
it.

Marisol believes Monte sails on the very ship Blade is to meet
and strikes a deal with the handsome rogue. If he will give her passage
to her brother, she will give him the exact location he needs. And both
will get more than they expected...

My Opinion:

I have one thing to say about Captain Blade Tyburn: YUMMY! Bedroom, emerald eyes, blond hair, sexy masculinity (VERY SEXY). Our unusually named Blade should make you want to dig into this novel, if nothing else does.

One of my most favorite things about this novel is of course the pirates! Ever since Johnny Depp played hottie (crazy too) Captain Jack Sparrow, I eat up any pirate romance novel I can get my hands on! Blade is no disappointment either in the hotness factor. He is definitely the icing on the cake!

My favorite character in this novel is Henri (or is it Henry? Not sure..). He may be a drunkard that does not like sharing his booze, but he is a funny old man that helps Marisol out once or twice.

There is one scene that I play over and over in my head. The time that Marisol and Blade eat a private dinner in Blade's room, and they are arousing each other with their food...priceless! I laughed through the whole thing. That may not be the emotion Ms. Bray-Weber was looking for, but that's what it did for me. I'm nothing if not honest. And I can honestly say this was the most unique and spectacular pirate romance I have ever had the pleasure to read. I've read a bunch, if your wondering.

Recommendations??

If you love hot sex, pirate adventures, and lots of fast-paced action, then you will LOVE A Kiss in the Wind. I can almost guarantee any historical fan would adore this book. I sure did!

The only thing Violet and Drew seem to have in common is that
neither believes in that psychic hoo—hah. Except Drew seems to play
exactly the right song at exactly the right time. And truth be told, it
makes Violet's heart dance just a little ...

My Opinion:

When Violet's mom winds up in the hospital, she returns home to take over her psychic shop. Little did she know that the owner of the strip club/bar next door would be so hot! Unfortunately, he REALLY does not fit the normal, boring (cough cough) image she's looking for. Violet does not fit his bimbo airhead standards. Can they get over their differences for true love?

My first thought of this novel was-wow, never thought I'd read a romance about a straight guy owning a bar that employs male strippers. I was wrong. My second thought-he must be really confident in his sexuality. I can honestly say this is one original book!

I absolutely love Violet. She's quirky (even though she strives to be normal), she's funny (in a dry wit sort of way), she's delightful (in a oh-poor-her-come-give-me-a-hug way). And she is a hilarious drunk! My god, I hope I never, ever dance on table if I were to ever become drunk (I'd hate to see how alcohol mixed with my many many meds). Drunk Violet is even better than sober Violet. She is, in fewer words, quite crazy (again, even if she wants to be "normal"). There is nothing wrong with a gorgeous, funky, crazy gal! She is my favorite character of all time-even if my favorites are usually lesser characters.

Wanna know my favorite part of this fun adventure? When Violet and drew are on separate dates and they just "happen" to meet each other at the exact same restaurant. They are all making introductions, and that is when I first realized Drew had no idea what his dates name was! This was their THIRD date! All through the date he is trying to figure out her name and it is so funny! Oh, the joy.

Recommendations??

Anyone who loves a romance, should read this! It's so hilarious-you WILL enjoy this novel!
