long-time intelligence chief and Hosni Mubarak's close ally has died in US while undergoing medical examination.

Omar Suleiman,Egypt's former vice-persident and long-time spy chief to deposed president Hosni Mubarak, has died in the Us,the official MENA news agency has reported .He was 76.

"Former vice president General Omar Suleiman died in the early hours of thursday in a hospital in the United States," the agency said.

"He was undergoing medical tests in Cleveland,"Suleiman aide Hussein Kamal said, adding that arrangements were being made to return his body to Egypt for burial.

The former intelligence chief stepped briefly into the limelight when he was appointed vice-president during the uprising that toppled Mubarak.

He left Egypt after a failed bid to run in the country's first ever free presidential elections in May.

Initially travelling to Dubai, he later headed to Germany and then on to the US for treatment, General Saad al-Abbassi, a member of Suleiman's presidential campaign team, told AFP news agency.

"His health deteriorated recently. He was in the United States with his family," said Reem Mamdouh, another member of the team.

He was a central figure in Egyptian politics for more than 15 years after he took over the country's intelligence agency in 1993.

Pilar of ousted regime

Suleiman, a pillar of the ousted regime , announced in April that he would be running for the president after initially saying he would stay out of the race.

He was barred from pursuing the country's top job a technicality, after the country's election commission said he failed to get endorsements from 15 provinces as per the law.

Suleiman was born in 1936 in the southern town of Qena and left for Cairo at the age of 19 to enroll in Egypt's military academy and went on to receive advanced army training in Russia.

He took part in both the 1967 and 1973 Middle East wars, though details of his service are unclear.

Suleiman was widely believed to have formed part of the inner circle of Mubarak, who shortly before his fall named the intelligence supremo as vice president.

Both Mubarak and Suleiman survived an assassination attempt in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital, where the were due to attend an African summit in June 1995.

Three Weight-Loss Strategies That Work

Cutting back on carlories is the cornerstone of any successful weight-loss plan,but as dieters can attest,that's easier said than done. So it's encouraging to learn that three simple strategies can provide a boost: Eat regular meals, write down everything you eat, and avoid restaurants and takeout at lunchtime.

These three habits were each linked to greater weight loss in a new study of 123 overweight and obese middle-aged women, all of whom managed to shed at least a few pounds over a one-year period.

Women who reliably ate breakfast ,lunch , and dinner lost an average of 11% of their body weight, compared to just 7% among women who skipped meals.(That's equivalent to a 5-foot,6-inch women who weighs 180 pounds losing 20 pounds instead of 13.)

Methodically keeping a food journal was associated with losing roughly 4% more body weight. And women who never ate restaurant lunches lost 3% more body weight than those who did so at least once a week-- probably due to super-size restaurant portions and less-than-healthy dishes,the researchers say.

"Knowing what you eat and controlling the portion sizes is key to any weight-loss diet,"says Anne McTiernan,M.D.,the senior author of the study and a diet and exercise specialist at the fred Hutchinson Cancer Reasearch Center, in Seattle.

Strategies such as food journals are "about accountability," McTiernan adds.

Other behaviors in the study that appeared to boost weight loss included consuming fewer carlories from fat and carbohydrates and weighing and measuring food portions.

None of these findings was specailly surprising. Doctors and dietitans have long touted the benefits of regural meals, food journals, and home cooking ,but the new study is among the first tolook at wide range of weight-loss stragties and quantify whcih ones are most effective, McTiernan says.

Why does skipping meals backfire? it's not entirely clear, but research suggests missed meals can lead to snacking and overeating, and may even change the body's metabolism so that calories aten't used as effciently. Skipping meals also may go hand in hand with other behaviors that can promote weight gain, such as eating on the go.

Although the three healthful habits highlighted in the study might seem straightforward, they may prove harder to follow in the real world than in the somewhat artificial setting of a clinical trail.

The women in this study were all part of a larger trail looking at the effects of diet and exercise on hormones, and they received weight-loss guidance not alawys available to women struggling with weight issuses on their own. This included meeting with a registered dietcian and exercise physiologist and also learning how to read labels and count calories.

As it was, less than 5% of the study participants completed a food journal entry every day for the first six months of the study, as the reasearchers had asked.

New iPad Review: A Sharper Focus for Apple’s Tablet

Apple, as everyone knows, has an exceptional track record for revolutionizing the product categories it enters. But it’s at least as talented at — I hope this is a word — evolutionizing them.

It’s a remarkably predictable process. The company starts by releasing an epoch-shifting gadget such as the first iPod, Phone or iPad. Then it relentlessly improves it, refining the original idea with additional polish and better technology on a more-or-less yearly schedule.

The new iPad, which went on sale on March 16, is all about that additional polish and better technology. Which means that Apple’s unexpected decision to call it simply “iPad,” with no modifier, makes sense.

This isn’t a different kind of iPad — it’s the device the company envisioned from the start, brought into sharper focus. (It loaned me a new iPad with Verizon wireless broadband for this review.)

As usual, Apple’s strategy with this upgrade has been to deliver more stuff for the same amount of money. The new iPad line, as with the iPad 2, begins at $499 for a version with 16GB of storage and wifi and tops out at $829 for one with 64GB of space and both wifi and LTE wireless broadband from AT&T or Verizon. Every model is available in both black and white variants.

Just as Apple keeps older versions of the iPhone around at lower prices, it’s discounting the iPad 2 rather than killing it. The 16GB wifi iPad 2 is now $399; one that adds 3G wireless is $529. It’s a sensible move: Even a year after its release, the iPad 2 is superior overall to any of its Android competition, including some contenders that sell for more.

When the iPad 2 was new a year ago, the biggest story wasn’t any new feature. It was how much thinner, curvier and lighter it was than the first model. Apple must have been pleased with its handiwork: The general look and feel of the new iPad have scarcely changed. Still, close inspection reveals that it’s a skosh thicker and heavier than its predecessor. It’s .37″ thick and weighs 1.44 pounds, vs. the iPad 2′s .34″ and 1.34 pounds.

When I brandished the new iPad in one hand and the iPad 2 in the other, I could tell the difference — but I don’t think most people will find the extra bulk to be that much of an ongoing burden.

Teardowns of the new iPad reveal why it’s a tad more portly: It packs a much higher-capacity battery than iPad 2 did. It needs one. The new tablet’s two most significant enhancements — a better screen and faster wireless broadband — are both notorious for their tendency to drain a battery dry in nothing flat. By beefing up the battery, Apple compensated for the power-hungry new components.

I haven’t done any formal benchmarking, but Apple’s claims of up to ten hours of use on a charge over wifi, and nine with LTE seem realistic. They’re unchanged from the iPad 2 and far superior to the battery performance of most other tablets and laptops, which is a big reason why I use my iPad 2 more than I do any conventional PC.

Did I just say that the iPad has a better screen? Let’s be precise: The 9.7″ display now sports a resolution of 2048-by-1536, giving it four times as many pixels as the 1024-by-768 display in the first two iPads. Apple also says that the color saturation is 44 percent better.

The sheer quantity of pixels that Apple and its technology suppliers have packed onto the screen — 3.1 million of ‘em! — is a landmark achievement. Not just for a tablet, but for any computing device: It’s 77 percent more than you get with Apple’s entry-level iMac, which has a vastly more spacious 21.5″ display.

Now, the screen on the original iPad and the iPad 2 has never struck me as anything but crisp and appealing. But boy, is the new one a revelation. As with the screen on the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S, Apple calls it a Retina display, indicating that the pixels are so tiny and so densely packed that your eye can’t detect them.

Mine sure can’t. Type shows no jaggies whatsoever; elegant fonts such as the New York Times’ Cheltenham have never looked better. Photos which look wonderful on the earlier iPads are breathtaking on this one. 3D games are rendered with more realism. Even lily-gilding little details like the wood grain on the bookshelf in Apple’s iBooks e-reading app benefit noticeably.

Some of the Retina screen’s benefits are automatic. In most cases, for instance, existing apps get high-resolution text. Others, however, require additional effort on the part of app developers and content providers. The icons and other graphics in apps need quadruple the resolution to look their best; video services that could get away with standard definition in the past now scream for HD.

This work is well underway — Apple has already released Retina-happy updates for its own apps, including the iWork suite, GarageBand and iMovie, plus a fabulous new version of iPhoto. It’s also set up a special section of the App Store for Retina-capable third-party programs such as the latest versions of Instapaper and my fave, Flipboard.

But in cases where apps and services aren’t yet ready for the new iPad, they sometimes stick out like a low-res thumb. It’s like watching standard-definition TV on an HDTV. I also encountered minor technical glitches with a few other apps, OnLive Desktop .

Romney Calls for Unity, Looks to Ill.

(VERNON HILLS, Ill.) — Mitt Romney's increasingly confident campaign is intensifying calls — publicly and privately — for his Republican opponents to concede defeat in the presidential nomination battle, even before Illinois voters have their say Tuesday in the campaign's next big contest.

Romney extended his delegate lead Sunday in Puerto Rico, where he trounced rival Rick Santorum and scored all 20 of the Caribbean island's delegates. Romney has collected more delegates than his opponents combined and is poised to win the delegate battle in Illinois, even if he loses the popular vote, thanks to missteps by Santorum's shoestring operation.

Romney's wife, Ann, declared Sunday night in suburban Illinois that the time has come for her husband's rivals to quit the race.

"We need to send a message that it's time to coalesce," she said, Mitt at her side. "It's time to get behind one candidate and get the job done so we can move on to the next challenge, bringing us one step closer to defeating Barack Obama."

Brushing aside skepticism from the party's right flank, Romney aides have been emphasizing their overwhelming mathematical advantage in the race to 1,144 delegates — the number needed to clinch the GOP presidential nomination and face President Barack Obama in the fall.

Santorum has all but conceded he cannot earn enough delegates to win, but claimed he was in contest for the long haul because Romney is a weak front-runner.

"This is a primary process where somebody had a huge advantage, huge money advantage, huge advantage of establishment support and he hasn't been able to close the deal and even come close to closing the deal," Santorum said Sunday. "That tells you that there's a real flaw there."

Yet, Santorum sidestepped when asked if he would fight Romney on the convention floor if he failed before August to stop the former Massachusetts governor from getting the required number of delegates.

Romney aides privately likened the situation to the Black Knight in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" who loses his arms and legs in battle with King Arthur but insists he has only a flesh wound. The Romney camp suggested that Tuesday's performance would extend Romney's delegate advantage, even if he loses the popular vote.

Santorum cannot win at least 10 of the state's 54 delegates because his campaign failed to file the paperwork.

One Romney aide recently said it would take "an act of God" for Santorum to earn enough delegates to prevail.

"Mitt's going to do well," said Romney's Illinois chairman Dan Rutherford, the state treasurer. "I think he will do better than the other three people. ... But my focus is on the delegates because that's really what the game is all about."

Polls suggest the Illinois race is close. And even at a Romney campaign stop Sunday, voters were divided.

"I'm leaning toward Santorum, but I wanted to hear him in person," said Nichole Warren, a 32-year-old stay-at-home mom from nearby South Beloit. "I hear (Romney) talk and I hear a lot of Obama in him, and that scares me."

But Sid Haffenden, a 61-year-old retired toll-way worker, said, "Santorum has too much baggage." He added, "I want a businessman."

Santorum is not giving up. He will spend Monday and Tuesday courting Illinois voters. Santorum plans to host four rallies Monday.

While offering a confident front, Romney cut short campaign plans in Puerto Rico over the weekend to spend more time in the state. He arrived Saturday night and plans to stay in the state through Tuesday night.

At this rate, Romney is on pace to capture the nomination in June unless Santorum or former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is able to win decisively in the coming contests.

Both have said they would stay in the race and perhaps force the nomination to a fight at the GOP's convention in Tampa if Romney doesn't amass enough delegates to arrive with a mandate. That would turn the convention into an intra-party brawl for the first time since 1976.

Including Puerto Rico's results, Romney has now collected 521 delegates, compared to Santorum's 253, Gingrich's 136 and Paul's 50, according to The Associated Press count.

احتشد الآلاف أمام مراكز البيع التابعة لشركة "أبل" فى عدد من عواصم العالم، مع بدء طرح الجيل الثالث من الكمبيوتر اللوحى "آى باد" فى الأسواق صباح الجمعة، فى ثالث نسخة لهذا النوع من الأجهزة التى أحدثت ثورة تكنولوجية، منذ بداية طرحها قبل نحو عامين.

وفى تعليق على طرح النسخة الجديدة من "آى باد" للبيع، كتب والت موسبرج من شركة "سنجس دى"، قائلاً إنه "منذ إطلاقه عام 2010، أصبح آى باد الكمبيوتر اللوحى الأفضل على الكوكب"، وتابع بقوله: "ومع هذا الجيل الثالث الجديد، فإنه يظل محتفظاً بتربعه على العرش".

ويتميز الكمبيوتر الجديد بشاشة فائقة الدقة، تصل مساحتها إلى 7.9 بوصة، بدرجة وضوح تصل إلى 2047 فى 1536 بيكسل، والتى تُعد
ضعف قدرات الأجيال السابقة، حيث تبلغ درجة الوضوح فيها 1024 فى 768 بيكسل، كما أنه مزود بكاميرا بقدرة 5 ميجابيكسل.

كما أن "آيباد الجديد"، كما أطلقت عليه شركة آبل، عملاق صناعة الإلكترونيات الأمريكية، مزود بنظام 3 جى "الجيل الثالث" للاتصال اللاسلكى، بالإضافة إلى سرعته الفائقة فى معالجة المعلومات، واحتوائه على مجموعة من التطبيقات المتطورة.

وأحدثت الشركة الأمريكية "صدمة" فى الأسواق العالمية الأسبوع الماضى، عندما أعلنت أن سعر أحدث منتجاتها من أجهزة "آى باد"، ربما يتراوح بين 499 و829 دولار، الأمر الذى أثار توقعات بأن يحقق مبيعات بالملايين خلال الأيام الأولى لطرحه بالأسواق.

وبالإضافة إلى الولايات المتحدة، فقد تم طرح أحدث نسخة من هذا الكمبيوتر اللوحى للبيع فى كل من أستراليا، وكندا، وفرنسا، وألمانيا، وهونج كونج، واليابان، وبورتريكو، وسنغافورة، وسويسرا، والمملكة المتحدة، وكذلك فى جزر "فيرجن" الأمريكية.

وتشير تقارير إلى توقعات بأن تتخطى مبيعات أبل بعد إطلاق "آى باد الجديد" كل التوقعات، خصوصاً بعدما حققت الشركة مبيعات تقدر بـ4.15 مليون جهاز "أى باد 2"، فى الربع الأخير من العام الماضى.

وتسيطر "أبل" على ما نسبته 59%من سوق الحواسيب اللوحية، لتطرح بذلك كل منافسيها أرضاً، وعلى رأسهم الحواسيب اللوحية التى تنتجها شركة "سامسونج"، تحت اسم "جالاكسى".

أمريكية تتزوج حمارا بعد قصة حب لمدة عامين

فى آخر تقاليع الزواج الشاذة والمثيرة للدهشة والاشمئزاز مثل عقد قران إنسان على قط أو قطعة أثاث أو مبنى أو زواج المثلين والتى اعتاد عليها الأمريكيون، تزوجت امرأة أمريكية من مواطنى مدينة سياتل شمال غربى الولايات المتحدة حمارا.

وبررت المرأة قرارها الغريب غير المألوف بالزواج من حيوانها المحبوب بأنها تعيش معه قصة حب منذ عامين.

وسبق أن تزوجت مواطنة أخرى من سياتل مبنى مهجورا تجاوز عمره 100 سنة، لكن هذه المرة لم تكن مشاعر الحب وراء القرار بالزوج، بل كان الدافع محاولة من جانبها لإنقاذ المبنى من خطر الانهيار ولفت أنظار السلطات والمجتمع إلى مشكلة إعادة بناء بعض الأحياء السكنية القديمة فى المدينة.

"ياهو" ترفع دعوى قضائية ضد "فيسبوك" بشأن انتهاك براءات اختراع

رفعت شركة "ياهو" الأمريكية لخدمات الإنترنت أمس الاثنين دعوى قضائية بشأن انتهاك براءات اختراع ضد شركة "فيسبوك" صاحبة أضخم شبكة للتواصل الاجتماعى على الإنترنت، تتهمها فيه بأنها استفادت بصورة غير قانوية من تقنيات مملوكة لـ"ياهو".

وذكرت مدونة "أول ثينجس ديجيتال" الإلكترونية التابعة لموقع صحيفة "وول ستريت جورنال" الأمريكية أنه تم رفع الدعوى القضائية أمام محكمة اتحادية فى مدينة سان هوزيه بولاية كاليفورنيا، والتى تتهم فيها "ياهو" شركة "فيسبوك" بانتهاك أكثر من عشر براءات اختراع، خاصة بها تتعلق بالإعلان والخصوصية والتخصيص والتراسل والتواصل الاجتماعى.

جاء رفع الدعوى فى الوقت الذى تستعد فيه "فيسبوك" لطرح أسهمهما فى اكتتاب عام أولى قد يصل بقيمتها السوقية إلى مئة مليار دولار، وعلى العكس تماما، تعانى "ياهو" من حالة ارتباك، حيث تتراجع عائدات إعلاناتها نظرا لأن مستخدمى موقعها يقضون وقتا أطول على موقع "فيسبوك" وبعض المواقع الأخرى المملوكة لشركات منافسة مثل "جوجل".

وتقول "ياهو" فى دعواها إن "فيسبوك" لم تحقق عائدات ضخمة من الإعلانات حتى بدأت فى استخدم طرق تحتفظ "ياهو" بحقوق براءات اختراعها.وقالت شركة خدمات الانترنت فى بيان:

"لقد استثمرت ياهو موارد ضخمة فى البحث والتطوير على مدار السنين، مما أثمر عن ابتكار العديد من التقنيات الحاصلة على براءات اختراع والتى رخصتها شركات أخرى".

وأضاف البيان: "هذه التقنيات هى أساس شركتنا. وللأسف لم يتم بعد حل القضية مع فيسبوك، واضطررنا إلى اللجوء لمحكمة قضائية".

من جانبها، تعهدت شركة "فيسبوك" بالدفاع عن نفسها بقوة مما تصفها بأنها "إجراءات مثيرة للحيرة".

وقالت شركة التواصل الاجتماعى:

"إننا نشعر بخيبة الأمل للقرار الذى اتخذته ياهو باللجوء إلى التقاضى، وهى شريك تجارى قديم لفيسبوك وشركة استفادت كثيرا من ارتباطها بفيسبوك".

رئيس آبل يكشف عن أحدث آى - باد بخدمات الجيل الرابع

كشفت شركة آبل أمس الأربعاء عن نسخة جديدة أسرع من الكمبيوتر اللوحى آى- باد المزود بخدمات الجيل الرابع الذى ستطرحه الشركة بسعر 629 دولارا، أملا فى أن يعزز تفوقها مع تزايد دخول منافسيها مثل أمازون وسامسونج إلى السوق.

ورأس تيم كوك الرئيس التنفيذى لآبل مؤتمرا هو الأكبر من نوعه للشركة منذ عام 2011 للكشف عن المنتج الجديد الذى طال انتظاره آى-باد 4 إس المزود بخاصية التشغيل بالصوت وهو النسخة الثالثة من الكمبيوتر اللوحى الذى يسيطر على أكثر من ثلثى السوق المتنامى.

ويقوم الجهاز الجديد بتشغيل خدمات الجيل الرابع بشبكة إل.تي.إى بسرعة أكبر بنحو عشر مرات من تكنولوجيا الجيل الثالث الحالية ما يساعد على التغلب على مشكلة الصور المهزوزة أحيانا فى الأجهزة السابقة.

وتراهن آبل على أن آى-باد الجديد المزود بخدمة الجيل الرابع سيغرى عددا أكبر من المستهلكين الأمريكيين لدفع مبلغ أكبر مقابل الحصول على صور ذات جودة أفضل.

ويقول محللون إن ذلك إذا تحقق فسيدر دخلا أكبر لشركتى الاتصالات فريزون وايرلس وإيه.تى آند تى.ولا يزال الطراز المزود بخاصية الاتصال اللاسلكى فقط بالإنترنت، الأمر الذى يقلص إلى حد كبير قدرته على دخول الشبكة، يحقق أعلى أرقام المبيعات بين منتجات آبل بفارق كبير.

وتأمل الشركة أن يحظى منتجها الجديد باستقبال طيب ليساعدها ذلك فى مواجهة منافسة متزايدة من منتجات مثل الكمبيوتر اللوحى الذى يعمل بنظام اندرويد (مفتوح المصدر) والمدعوم بنظم تشغيل مايكروسوفت المنتظر أن يطرح قريبا.

وكان كوك أكد مجددا فى وقت سابق خلال المؤتمر على ما وصفه "بعصر ما بعد الكمبيوتر الشخصى" الذى يتزايد فيه عزوف المستخدمين عن أجهزة سطح المكتب والمحمولة ويتزايد إقبالهم على الأجهزة اللوحية.

وقال كوك للحاضرين فى قاعة المؤتمرات بمركز يربا بوينا فى سان فرانسيسكو وهو مكان آبل المفضل للكشف عن منتجاتها الجديدة "فى العام الماضى وحده بعنا 172 مليون جهاز من أجهزة عصر ما بعد الكمبيوتر الشخصى.

وكان ذلك يمثل 76% من دخلنا.. هذا أمر مذهل".

سجن إندونيسى 18 عامًا لإدانته بإرسال قنابل عبر الايميل

قضت محكمة اندونيسية الاثنين بسجن رجل 18 عاماً لاتهامه بإرسال قنابل عبر البريد لأربعة أشخاص بارزين العام الماضى.وخلصت محكمة غرب جاكرتا الجزئية إلى أن بيبى فيرناندو المخرج السينمائى السابق متهم بانتهاك قانون مكافحة الإرهاب بالبلاد.

وكان قد تم إرسال سلسلة من القنابل عبر البريد فى مارس 2011 إلى ناشط مسلم ليبرالى وسياسى وموسيقى وجنرال بالشرطة كان يقود وحدة لمكافحة الإرهاب فى السابق.

وانفجرت إحدى القنابل أثناء محاولة الشرطة تفكيكها مما أدى لإصابة رجل شرطة فى حين لم تنفجر القنابل الثلاث الأخرى.وجرى اعتقال فيرناندو بعدما كشفت الشرطة خطة لمجموعة مسلحة كان يقودها بهدف تفجير كنسبة فى ضواحى جاكرتا العام الماضى.

يذكر أن اندونيسيا تعرضت لسلسلة من التفجيرات منذ عام 2000 فى حملة اعتبر المسلحون الإسلاميين مسئولين عنها.

جاستن بيبر يحصل على "سيارة الأحلام" فى عيد ميلاده الثامن عشر

تلقى المغنى الكندى الشهير جاستن بيبر، الذى يحظى بشعبية طاغية بين المراهقين، هدية فى عيد ميلاده الثامن عشر يعتبرها المراهقون فى مثل سنه حلما صعب المنال.

وتلقى "بيبر" هدية عبارة عن سيارة "فيسكر كارما" الفارهة من جانب مديره سكوت براون خلال حلقة من برنامج مذيعة البرامج الحوارية الين ديجينيريس أذيعت على الهواء مباشرة يوم الخميس.

وتقدر قيمة هذه السيارة الحصرية، وهى سيارة سيدان فاخرة تعمل بالطاقة الكهربائية بـ 100 ألف دولار.

واشترى براون تلك السيارة برفقة معلم بيبر، آشر، الذى قال إنه أراد أن يعطى بيبر سيارة "تجعله ثابتا فى الطريق".

وفاه ثلاث شبان بسبب توفيق عكاشه

دهست سيارة ملاكى سوداء اللون 3 شبان أثناء المناوشات التى شهدتها مدينة أسوان، عصر اليوم، بين أنصار الإعلامى توفيق عكاشة، فى المؤتمر المزمع عقده لتنشيط حركة السياحة بأسوان، وناشطين رافضين لتواجد صاحب قناة الفراعين بالمدينة السياحية.

وكانت مدينة أسوان شهدت، عصر اليوم، مناوشات عنيفة بين المؤيدين والمعارضين لعكاشة، وقامت قوات الأمن بالدفع بـ3 تشكيلات أمن مركزى للفصل بين الجانبين، وفى أثناء ذلك فوجىء المتظاهرون بسيارة سوداء اللوان تدهس 3 شبان وفرت هاربة.

صحيفة ماليزية تنشر صورة لمغنية أمريكية تضع وشماً على جسدها يحمل لفظ الجلالة

نشرت أشهر الصحف الماليزية "ذا ستار" فى نسختها الإنجليزية، صورة لمغنية أمريكية تضع وشما يحمل لفظ الجلالة "الله" على جسدها باللغة العربية والعبرية، وكانت من المقرر أن تحيى حفلا موسيقيا فى كوالالمبور غدا الأربعاء.

واعتذرت الصحيفة عن نشر الصورة بعد اعتراض مجموعات من الأحزاب الإسلامية فى البلاد، وقالت الصحيفة: "نأسف بشدة على أى إساءة للمسلمين، ونعتذر كثيرًا على هذا السهو".

ولاقت الصحيفة انتقادات من بعض جماعات المجتمع المدنى فى ماليزيا، التى يقطنها أغلبية مسلمة، حيث أشارت إلى أن الوشم الذى يحمل مقدسات دينية إسلامية يعتبر إهانة للمسلمين.

وطلبت وزارة الداخلية الماليزية من رئيس التحرير والمدير الإدارى وكبير المحررين فى الصحيفة تقديم تفسير مكتوب للحادث فى غضون أسبوع.
