I have been hula hooping and trying to do a little dancing. I have not checked my weight because my stomach looks just as gross as ever so I don't think I lost any weight.

It has been cold so I have not gone walking...then today it was warm BUT I hurt my neck and just do not feel like it....go figure.

Hula Hooped For 10 Minutes

I did the hula hoop for ten minutes today as part of my plan for getting started with exercise. I should have done more since I did not go walking today or yesterday.

I just read in First Magazine that doctors consider ten minutes of hula hooping done twice a day to be an effective tummy toner and fat burner.

I can easily squeeze that time in while watching television (I did mine today while watching CSI) so hopefully I will start to see some results from that easy exercise.

I did some hula hooping yesterday while I was watching television.

I hooped it up for about 25 minutes and broke a teensy bit of sweat. Hula hooping is a good form of exercise because it is

fun

easy

low impact

These three features make it an ideal workout for people who have not exercised consistently but want to start with something.

I did not even realize that all that time had passed and I was still doing it and was surprised to find myself sweating when I was done.

The hula hoop worked my abdominal muscles and today I do not have the pain that is associated with an ab workout.

I am charging up the MP3 player now to go for a walk around the lake (ok halfway around the lake) since it is supposed to get up to 75 degrees today.

Update On My Weight

Well I have really blown it these last few weeks. My weight has been up and down for a while, mostly up.

Today I weighed in at a hefty 156.2 lbs. This is crazy. I need to get the weight down or else I will be putting myself at risk for disease.

While 156 is not obese, for my height and bone structure it is bad. The really terrible thing is that my waist to hip ratio is horrible and we all know that belly fat is the most dangerous fat of all.

My waist currently measures 36 inches while my hips are 40 inches.

I love my hips but the waist is deplorable. I am starting a new regimen of a better diet and some exercise. I know I will not keep up with the walking and so I cannot transition to running as yet. The one thing I love to do is dance...and I used to dance every day to music on the radio and I think this helped keep my weight down.

I also used to hula hoop and do ab work on a medicine ball while I watched television. I can start to do this again instead of simply lying in bed to watch tv and this will get the metabolism going again.

Well at least one of my little special ed students seems to think that I am. Today, she decided to throw a tantrum (she is 7) that was overwhelming everyone.

She is new to the school and I have not had a chance to deal with her. Today, when she fell to the floor screaming I told her that she was acting like she was 2 instead of 7 and I walked away from her and picked up a book to read.

She likes the attention she gets when she throws her fits and since I was ignoring her....she called me a B($%!

Oh well.

Blood Sugar is Normal

I got a free Blood glucose monitor and I decided to go ahead to test my blood since I had the suspicion that I might be diabetic.

My levels tested at 120 after a meal and this is within the normal range so I can breathe a sigh of relief for now.

I still need to get the weight down but at least this is one positive thing.

Falling Off The Wagon...And Under The Bus

Hi everyone.....I must say I fell off the weight loss wagon and I fell hard.

Then I rolled under the bus and blacked out for a short while and now I am back. I put on all the weight I had previously lost....and then some.

I was watching a show today and realized that I am really setting myself up for some serious health issues if I do not lose a few pounds and get back in shape.

I had to run up the stairs today and I was soooooooooooooooooo out of breath when I got to the top.

And my chest hurt.

Please stick with me as I try YET AGAIN to begin an exercise program.

Silly Coworkers

Oh I work with some impossible people. Yesterday a coworker asked how mother was feeling. I told her I did not want to talk about it so she said ok.

This morning another coworker comes up to me and asks if S spoke to me today. I said yes she did and asked why.

Coworker tells me that S said she was mad at me for not telling her how my mother was doing and she was too upset to talk to me.

I blew that off as being a bit melodramatic....UNTIL another coworker came to me and told me that S had told HIM that she was mad at me for not sharing my feelings.

What?

Honestly? She is so upset that I did not want to talk about my very sick mother that she is not talking to me? How petty can you get?
