Pokemon The Movie 2000: The Power of One was released in Japanese theaters on July 17, 1999 (under the title Pocket Monsters Revelation – Lugia). The dubbed English version of the film was released to theaters in the United States on July 21, 2000. There are two parts to the movie: the “Pikachu’s Rescue Adventure” short and the actual film.

The “Pikachu’s Rescue Adventure” short runs for about twenty minutes, and like with “Pikachu’s Vacation,” the human characters are only briefly seen or heard. Togepi falls down a dark hole, and Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Marill, Venonat, and Psyduck follow to try to rescue the little Pokemon. When they reach the bottom of the hole, they find themselves in a giant tree. Apparently, the tree used to be Pikachu’s home, and the Elekid they encounter is an old friend of Pikachu’s. Elekid tells Pikachu that Togepi has been mistaken for an Exeggucute egg, and has been placed in a nest with the Exeggucute eggs. A deadly storm hits the area, and Pikachu and the other Pokemon must try to save Togepi and the Exeggucute eggs. Meowth, meanwhile, is trying to find his way to a campsite, but ends up getting caught up in Pikachu’s mishaps.

The film itself revolves around three legendary Pokemon: Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres. The running theme throughout the film has to do with the delicate balance between the forces of nature. This theme is embodied by these three legendary Pokemon, who represent these forces. If the balance between these three Pokemon are destroyed, chaos will ensue. This chaos would prompt Lugia, the “Great Guardian,” to rise from the sea to end the destruction. However, Lugia can only succeed with the help of a “Chosen One” destined to save the world.

Lawrence III, a Pokemon collector, works at capturing the three legendary Pokemon; his ultimate goal is to use them in order to capture Lugia. At the beginning of the film, Lawrence III captures Moltres at Fire Island with his futuristic aircraft.

Meanwhile, in the Orange Islands, Ash, Misty, and Tracey are traveling on a boat owned by a girl named Maren. A storm suddenly appears, and their boat is caught up in it. Team Rocket, who has been following them in their Magikarp submarine, are also caught by the storm. The boat ends up washing ashore on Shamuti Island, the centerpiece of the Orange Islands; Team Rocket also ends up here.

A group of people dressed in costume approach the boat. It turns out they live on the island, and are preparing for a big festival; in fact, Maren is friends with one of the girls in the group. Melody, a young girl who is the Festival Maiden, takes a liking to Ash, and he is declared to be the “Chosen One” for the festival. Ash is given the task of traveling to the three islands of the legendary Pokemon to collect three glass balls that represent the elements. When he acquires the balls, he is supposed to bring them back to Shamuti Island, so Melody can play a song on a special instrument. Pikachu, who has been edgy this whole time, grabs Ash’s hat in his teeth and runs off. Ash and Maren follow, and all three end up getting onto Maren’s boat to begin Ash’s quest. Maren’s boat gets caught in another storm, and the boat crashes on Fire Island.

While at Fire Island, Ash and Pikachu find the first glass ball, and Team Rocket shows up to cause trouble. Melody, Misty, and Tracey get on a boat and also arrive at Fire Island. Suddenly, Zapdos appears. Through their lightning, Pikachu and Zapdos communicate with one another. Zapdos makes it clear that it is taking over Fire Island. Suddenly, Lawrence III captures Zapdos, as well as accidentally capturing Ash, Ash’s friends, and Team Rocket.

While on Lawrence’s aircraft, Ash and the others free the legendary Pokemon. Moltres and Zapdos battle one another, and end up causing the aircraft to crash onto Lightning Island. Ash finds the next glass ball he needs. Ash and his friends escape on Melody’s boat, but Lugia carries them off to Shamuti Island. Slowking, the guardian of the shrine, instructs Ash to place the balls into the shrine. Lugia instructs Ash to retrieve the final ball from Ice Island, and he also learns that he is the actual “Chosen One” from the legend. Can Ash fulfill his role as the “Chosen One” and save the world in time?

It has purple eyes (some times blue when attacking) and two short ears. One of Mewtwo's most notable features is the tube extending from the back of its skull to its spine. It is most likely a secondary spinal cord, or a system of nerves, allowing for an increased amount of blood and sensory transmission to the brain, heightening its psychic powers.

Only a handful of Trainers managed to brave the storm and arrive, including Ash and his friends. Upon revealing itself, Mewtwo challenged the trainers with a Venusaur Blastiose , and Charizard (all cloned) to prove its superiority to human Trainers and the superiority of cloned Pokémon to trained Pokémon. To do this, it used a variation of the Poke Balls used by Trainers. Once caught in the Balls, the Pokémon that had been brought to the island were cloned in an upstairs laboratory. However, before Mewtwo could defeat the Trainers and move out into the world, Mew appeared. The two Pokémon fought and ceased battle when Ash was caught in their crossfire and turned to stone. After Ash is revived by the tears of the nearby Pokémon, clone and original alike, Mewtwo experiences a change of heart and stops its destructive rampage. Wanting to find itself, Mewtwo erased the memories of those present and it and its clones left New Island for Johto.

However, because the lifeforce of a human is not as strong as a Pokémon's, the Amber clone died. It also grew alongside three other clones, a Bulbasaurtwo, Squirtletwo, and Charmandertwo. However, these clones died shortly before the Amber clone, suggesting that Mewtwo's lifeforce is even stronger than a normal Pokemon's.

Pokemon Mewtwo Strikes Back is the first movie originally released in Japan. The Pokemon Mewtwo was created in an island laboratory from the DNA of Mew, a rare Pokemon believed to be extinct, recovered from fossilized remains.

The movie starts out with Mewtwo seeing images of Mew. Mew flying around in the mountains and in a lake. The Mewtwo wakes to see 4 scientists studying the tank. Mewtwo realizes he's in the tank and says he needs to be outside. He breaks through the glass and the scientists start talking and congratulating themselves. The head scientist explains that Mewtwo is an experiement of a cloning process of the "aniceint" Pokémon, Mew. Mewtwo questions himself about his destiny. He then denies his destiny as a simple experiement and begins to destroy the laboratory. Giovanni's helicoptor lands on the island. Giovanni wants Mewtwo as a "partner", and explains that Mewtwo will not just control the world without Giovanni's help, he will destroy it. Giovanni offers to help Mewtwo focus his power, Giovanni puts metallic armor on Mewtwo. Mewtwo thinks that this will surpress it, Giovanni denies and tells him that it will "focus" his power. Mewtwo battles a number of trainers, including Gary. He defeats all of them easily, but Mewtwo still wants to know his purpose. Giovanni tells him that his purpose was to obey humans, Mewtwo also denies this, and proceeds to destroy the Gym. Mewtwo flys off the the very island he was created and asks himself who he is, and what his purpose is. He then states that "The Reign of Mewtwo has Begun"

The story of the Lion King begins at an area known as Pride Rock. Enter the Lion King, Mufasa and queen Sarabi to introduce their newborn cub Simba. The heir to the throne Simba, is slated to overtake leadership of the Pridelands. Unfortunately not everyone is happy about this prospect, more specifically Scar, the selfish brother of the Lion King Mufasa.

Mufasa tells his son that someday all of this land will be his to rule, and that it will be his responsibility to maintain the delicate balance of the Circle of Life. In his lecture the Lion King urges Simba to never go beyond the frontier of the Pridelands as evil hyenas and uncertainty lies beyond.

While Mufasa educates and guides his son toward adulthood, Scar, the evil brother of the Lion King, becomes more and more thirsty for the throne. Aligned with several hyenas, Scar divulges a plan to topple Lion King Mufasa and the young heir to the throne. Scar and the hyena's set their plan into motion at Pride Rock. From there a stampede ensues and in the turmoil, Mufasa is trampled and Simba narrowly escapes. Scar convinces Simba that his father's death was his fault and banishes him from the kingdom. All the while the plan was to also have Simba assassinated, so Scar employees his hyenas to finish the job. Fortunately for Simba and the fate of the Pridelands, the hyenas don't get the job done in a doldrum of laziness.

The young lion leaves the Pridelands and enters the jungle to continue his life. There he meets and befriends the joking meerkat Timon and a soft-hearted warthog named Pumbaa. Torn by the death of his father, Simba decides that the jungle will be his new home and decides to remain with his new friends.

Unfortunately during this time period the Pridelands decay and dry out under the brutal rule of King Scar. Hyenas are allowed to roam the lands rampaging and harassing whatever and whoever they encounter. Nala, lioness and former childhood friend of Simba, is one of a few residents who decide to flee. She also heads to the jungle in an effort to find a new land for her and her fellow lionesses to live.

Later in the jungle, Pumbaa finds himself threatened by a lioness. Driven by hunger the female lion attacks the warthog. In an effort to say his friend, Simba intervenes and begins to fight with the lioness. In the struggle Simba is flipped by the lioness and then realizes that she is Nala, his old childhood pal. Equally shocked is Nala, who had believed that Simba died in the stampede so many years ago. Now reunited, Simba introduces Nala to his friends Timon and Pumbaa. Nala enlightens them to the fact that Simba is not just any ordinary lion, but the true Lion King of the Pridelands. In the ensuing time Nala and Simba become close and join together in the beginning bonds of love.

From there Nala tells Simba of the plight of the Pridelands and the chaos that has occurred in the years since Scar took over the kingdom. She then motivates Simba to return to his former home to confront Scar and his leadership of the Pridelands
