A show of 400 red umbrellas! Over 400 red umbrellas were gathered in the city of Talca, Chile next to the new pedestrian mall structure to arrange the umbrella show. The umbrellas were suspended to create a visual impression of the inhabitants of a city in which it is uncommon to see daring displays in public spaces. The umbrella show was a great scene to watch.

What does it mean to be Unique?

Firstly I want to clarify what it means to be unique; personally I believe that to be unique you stand out among the crowd however I also believe that everyone is unique. Everyone has their own personality no matter how similar two people can seem they will still have their differences their uniqueness. Uniqueness is what makes us as humans different, our looks, our humour, our thoughts and our opinions these are all unique to us.

Now if you put this in to the context of a blog it is the exact same. A blog is unique, as soon as it has been developed it is unique. There will never be two blogs identical because there are always characteristics that make blogs different and above all else the domain name could never be the same.

If you put these two together both yourself and your blog then you make something that is completely unique and perhaps this is something you can promote. The point I am trying to make here is that internet marketers, bloggers and many others are always saying that you should promote your blog through its unique selling point well we as humans are the unique selling point of a blog. We offer what no one else can offer and that is our voice, the experiences and the opinions that we can share.

I always try to add my experiences and opinions in to all of my articles because thats what will make my content unique and overall thats what makes my blog unique, it is me. This is what you should do, don’t worry whether people will agree with you or not, its your opinion and everyone else is intitled to their own. Add your experiences to your articles, share your thoughts and guide others along, readers will feel that you are being more personal and will appreciate your help.

Highlight your Unique Selling Point

As I have just explained your unique selling point is most likely to be yourself there are obviously other unique selling points that you can market through your blog and others may work better for you depending what your blog is about.

The best way of highlighting your unique selling point is to take a look at your blog and take a look at other blogs in your market compare them and see what differences you can see. Try looking at some very successful blogs in your market and compare those to your blog and other blogs at various levels of development. Pin point what it is exactly that attracts readers to the successful blogs, is it the author, the way they write, offers and incentives that they use or something else?

A major player in the success of blogs in the internet marketing field seems to be timing however other blogs have geniunenly excellent writers and authors who are able to grip the readers attention from the start and make the articles entertaining and informative. If you can’t find a unique selling point of your blog then perhaps its time you created one, although you can use yourself it may be more beneficial to create one focused on your target market.

Once you have highlighted the unique selling point of your blog write it down and ensure that no other blog has this unique selling point or else its not really unique and it wont work.

Promote your blog through the Unique Selling Point

The next stage is to use the unique selling point that you found or created in the second part and advertise your blog with this unique selling point across the internet.

You need to gain visibility throughout the internet in places where potential readers may visit, for example other more popular blogs, forums and through internet marketing techniques such as article marketing and blog commenting.

Your main goal is to capture the interests of your market with your unique selling point, advertise it and advertise it well. Create excellent banners and slogans that focus on your unique selling point and grasps the readers attention.

Amazing Scenery: Magdeburg Water Bridge

The Magdeburg Water Bridge is the longest (total 918 meters) navigable aqueduct in the world. It is situated in Germany and was opened in 2003. It connects the Elbe-Habel Canal and Mittellandkanal, crossing over the Elbe River. The beautiful scenery of the bridge is just awesome to watch.

The construction work started 1997 and it took 6 years to complete and a total cost of €500 million. The water bridge now connects Berlin’s inland harbor network with the ports along the Rhine river.

Canal engineers had first conceived of joining the two waterways as far back as 1919. However, the project was postponed after World War II. The reunification of Germany and establishment of major water transport routes made the Water Bridge a priority again.

There is a never ending debate on the ideal length of a blog post. If you write too little and readers will be finished in the blink of an eye - and too many words could mean your audience is gone before they reach the final paragraph.

So how long is ideal? To answer this question, let’s see the both sides of the topic.

Longer Post:

One big post can bring much more traffic than two or three smaller ones, both in the short and in the long term. A long post basically offers a complete solution to a problem, like a one stop shop. As a consequence, readers are more likely to share it on social media and thus increasing the important traffic for you in the short term. Additionally, other bloggers are likely to link to it increasing the search rankings of that post. Over the long term, therefore, the post is likely to keep getting traffic from search engines.

Shorter Post:

Publishing regular short posts is a nice way to create loyalty among your readers. Shorter posts allow you to write more posts and that more posts are better for generating readership as your readers will develop the habit of visiting your blog more frequently. The typical web readers have a short attention span when it comes to reading content online. If the post is comparatively short then the readers can digest it properly.

Ideal Length:

The length of a blog post mainly depends on the type of content you’re writing in the post. A post need to cover its topic. You should write enough to comprehensively cover your topic and then stop. If you can convey the message in 200 words – it’s fine. And, if it takes 2000 words then it’s also fine. Extra stretching or extra compressing looks ugly. The natural is the best.

My Opinion:

You don’t need to stick to any singular length. You can write short posts on a regular basis and also few long ones in regular interval. This is the best compromise to get the best of the two approaches. I personally like posts between 200 and 800 words. But once again, you need to cover the topic no matter how long it takes.

In this post we will discuss how free writing can help you to fight back against bloggers block.

When you find yourself in a situation where the ideas are not coming smoothly, you can make use of free writing technique. Many bloggers and other writers use free writing to battle bloggers block and get good results. It helps exercise your right brain and helps ideas flow easily.

Free writing technique requires you to start writing whatever comes in your mind. You need to keep writing randomly and quickly an idea will form in your mind as you do it. Then you can build your article on that idea and remove the first part of unworthy writing.

When I run out of ideas I just sit down and start writing whatever comes out and eventually I hit on an idea that is worth building on. I personally find that it really gets the ideas flowing. Some of my best posts ever have been the result of this technique.

The hardest part of any writing can be the starting part, especially in case of blogging. And this technique gives you the vital starting that you can’t find sometimes. When ideas start flowing it becomes easier to write the rest parts of an article or blog post.

One thing you can do is to start writing on a broad topic. Then it would be easier for you to write something. After a few minutes of free writing you are likely to stumble onto a good idea that you have some chance of using. From this point your real writing will start.

Sometimes you may start writing on one topic and end up writing on another topic. You can then edit your writing and keep only the useful parts while removing the rest. Even you can use the other parts for building another post.

Sometimes it’s better to force yourself to start writing. And it’s amazing to see what flows out of this type of exercise.
