The basic essentials of my Memorial Day weekend packing list are below. But, I've really gone the extra mile for you this time, guys. I created a detailed, downloadable packing list for you to use! There's nothing I love more than an organized plan; Exaggerating, yes. A lie? Not really. I truly love being organized when packing for a trip. There's nothing worse than leaving something important behind, which could totally just ruin a vacay. So, check out my guide and see exactly how I stay organized when I travel. And, hopefully use it yourself. I even included an outfit schedule as well :)

As for us, I'm just mostly excited to have a Monday off of work at this point. Erika will be in Barcelona (casual - follow us on Instagram for all of that spectacularness) and I'm heading to the lake with the boy and our fams. Praying the cicadas don't attack me but craving an excuse to wear new bathing suits!

Spring Trend Guide

It's finally here - Your one stop shop for all of Spring's hottest trends! And, the best part is, everything you see me wearing here is from Marshalls. This means two important things: 1. Designer clothing 2. Affordable prices. Which are also two of our favorite things when it comes to shopping, here on The Fashionably Broke.

There are many ways to incorporate both of these trends. My favorite way to incorporate the sorbet trend into my wardrobe has been through statement pieces, like a mint blazer or coral shoes. Ladylike dress options are also plentiful at Marshalls. Crochet, lace and fit and flare are my favorite styles.

3. Feminine Accessories

The perfect complement to masculine pieces, such as boyfriend jeans or a leather jacket, are feminine accessories. A structured handbag, single sole pumps or a pair of oversized sunglasses are both easy ways to embrace this spring trend and Marshalls has a huge selection of them all.

As I said in my Spring Trend Video, the first rack I check out when I'm at Marshalls is always the dress rack. I get all of my special occasion dresses at Marshalls because that's where I can get the best bang for my buck. The sequin details on this dress make it perfect for any girls night (or, girls day) out. I also have to grab a woven blouse or two while I'm there. You can never have too many equipment blouses or chambray shirts in your closet, of course.

6. Nude and Neutral Accessories

My favorite spring trend of them all, nudes and neutrals accessories, is one that you can't leave out. Accessorizing is such a big part of our personal style. And when it comes to nude accessories, you will find these pieces to be timeless in your wardrobe and necessary for so many looks. These nude wedges have become my new go-to, spring shoe.

As the seasons change and we get into the warmer months, our daily routines always changes a bit. We like to think of these changes as our summer style and beauty “upgrade,” because the need for all of these changes is due to something that we love – Like the sun, warm weather, salt water…need we go on? There are so many quick and easy ways to upgrade to your daily routine. From a brighter mani, to SPF everything, and even a little change in my coffee routine, we are going to show you our idea of the perfect summer style refresh!

Beginning with the basics, here are just seven, simple ways we've upgraded our style this summer:

The Perfect Pair

A lot of things inspire me in my life. Besides the obvious like music, fashion and my puppies of course (they inspire me to do big things), flowers and nature really inspire me as well. And when I say "inspire," I mean that there's really always something special that influences a decision I make. A decision like what I buy when I go shopping! A cool quote and an even cooler graphic font, like the one on this tee, is what initially drew me in. The touch of flower print in the font makes it perfect for spring and summer and the cut off sleeves make it something a little more than just a basic tee. You can never have too many tee's in my book!

I also finally found the perfect pair of flare jeans! They are tight on the knees (important) and super flared at the bottom...and just what my closet needed! I just love this outfit so much, can you tell by how many pictures I had to post of it?

The tee and jeans are both from the Nordstrom Savvy department - I told you, you have to check it out! Oh, and, my tee says "Wild At Heart," but I'm short so you can't see the whole thing! :)

A Spring Trend Video

If you remember, I spent a day in a New York studio not too long ago, where I spent the day shooting a video with Marshalls. I shared on camera one of my favorite spring trends, why I'm loving it so much and how to wear it, of course. And now, I am finally able to reveal the spring trend video that I made that day. We wanted to bring together a blogger workshop and a super fun party (because we all love a good party) into one big, blogger event - Hence our motto, "Parties with a purpose!" We have featured bloggers at each event that speak on a panel, answering questions about something specific that we think they are good at (social media, SEO, branding, etc.). We also use our events as a way to promote local businesses and brands that we love! We also decided to have these events as a way for bloggers who don't attend expensive blogger conferences to get that same type of educational experience for free, so there is no charge to attend a Blogger Scene event!

Neutral Accessorizing

This marks my last trend post with Marshalls, and I have to say I am a bit sad! I've had so much fun sharing with you all of the spring trends that Marshalls has to offer, but my favorite part has been sharing my best finds with you. Shopping at Marshalls is like a treasure hunt. I've come home with a lot of new treasures this season and you guys make me feel like I just have a million friends to gab about it with, so thank you for that! This is my favorite trend of them all. Marshalls, GLAM and I even made a video about it, which I will share in a future post!

Neutrals are such a timeless trend so I always make sure to keep my wardrobe stocked with them. I love to mix and match different textures and shades. And, the great thing about a blush shoe is they keep your legs looking long! When you're a whopping five foot two, the longer they look, the better! Instead of pointing out where my legs end, they blend in and give me the illusion of a few extra inches. I guess, that huge wedge helps a bit too, right? Speaking of that wedge, do you appreciate that curve as much as I do? I don't even know what that is called, but it's definitely something special.

New, Fresh Look

Sometimes it's fun to just throw on some flares and a loose, flowy top. This used to be my uniform almost every day. That is, until skinny jeans started coming in all sorts of prints and colors of course. You know what else is fun? To get a new, fresh look! I feel like I'm known for having long hair, to my friends and family, but I am always willing to try new things. And, every once in a while I feel the need for a drastic change.

I go to the PR at Partners, Fresh Look Studio (the Tysons Corner location - for almost a year now) with, usually, no plan of action. Nadine (my hair stylist) and I discussed 'the big chop' for a few months, before deciding it was just time. I was ready, she was ready and voila! Six inches later I ended up with this fabulous, just past the shoulder, blunt cut. Nadine also went for a warmer ombre this time, which I could not be more pleased with.

A Woven Blouse

For my fifth installment with Marshalls, I'm sharing another (favorite) spring wardrobe staple, woven blouses! Marshalls always has such a huge selection of blouses that it's never been a problem for me to run short, so that's why I always make sure to pick up one or two (at least) when I go. This colorblocked, designer steal has easily become one of my all-time favorite blouses from Marshalls. You don't even want to know the amazing deal I got because you may dislike me a bit for it - It was that good. A great blouse and your best pair of jeans is the perfect outfit for almost any occasion, but there is still so much more you can do when it comes to styliing your blouses. I love to layer mine over dresses, tuck them in to high-waisted skirts or wear them unbuttoned as a fun bathing suit cover up in the summer.

Generation Know - Empower

I'm finally able to share the final product of the U by Kotex, Generation Know + GLAM bloggers video collaboration! Generation Know has a mission of putting an end to any embarrassment that misinformation can cause girls surrounding some of the most important parts of their bodies. It is their belief that we can bring girls together to drive social change through a shared voice. To learn more about my experience with Generation Know, or just in case you missed the behind the scenes stuff, you can check that out here.

But like I said before, the day was filled with inspiration and motivation, and discussions about women's body acceptance and the issues we face around it. We also discussed the ways we can inspire the next generation of women to feel empowered and confident about their bodies, which was my favorite part of the day. As educated women, who once knew what it felt like to experience huge changes in our bodies and the fear that can come with it, I think we are all obligated to pass that knowledge and found confidence along.

And, what does all of this really mean in terms of fashion and personal style, and our blog? It means that I've learned that I reflect the personal confidence I've found within myself on to other women in this fashion blogging community. I will continue to strive to encourage and empower all of you to always embrace your own personal style, try out new styles and trends and follow you heart, no matter what that entails! That's why I chose to share the "Empower" video with you - I hope you all enjoy it!

The Perfect Leather Tote

If I were ever, so tragically, told I had to wear one outfit for the rest of my life, this could be it. It's everything I love in an outfit - My two favorite colors, a chunky knit, a flirty skirt, funky sunglasses, sexy, strappy heels and an oversized handbag.

My tote is by Cuyana and I could be totally happy with using it for the rest of my life too. It's the perfect leather tote, in all it's soft, floppy goodness. Cinco De Mayo Party Planning

It's finally getting warm out and there's nothing I want more than an ice cold margarita (on the rocks, with salt please) on any normal day. I love a girl's night in as it is, but through in one of my favorite holidays, and one of my favorite cocktails to make, and before you know it I'm hosting a Cinco De Mayo party for my girlfriends! The trick to hosting a good party is to start with the basics and then add in special elements here and there. And I've got some easy ideas that you can use for your next Cinco De Mayo party for a fun, and stylish, girl's night in! You can also check out my Pinterest board for more party ideas here!

I've discovered a new favorite Margarita recipe, the Sauza Blue Sauza-Rita. I have a lot of love for the Sauza-Rita because it's so delicious and so easy to make. They are also so easy to make a lot of, so they're perfect for when you're planning to pre-make pitchers for big parties. Mix up a batch of Sauza-Ritas, serve them out of a dispensable pitcher and, for a fun drink garnish, you can make drink flags out of limes and toothpicks.

Sauza-Rita Recipe:

•1 can Sauza® Blue Silver 100% Agave Tequila*
•1 bottle light beer
•1 can frozen limeade
•1 can water

Serving size is 1 pitcher.

For your menu it's nice to have a selection of small treats to accompany happy hour. I love to include a variety of dips on my party menu. My two favorite dips to make (both fresh!) are guacamole and mango salsa. They are both easy to make and super affordable and the salty chips will pair well with your Sauza-Ritas. Then, I finish off my Mexican menu with some more finger foods, like mini tacos. For eating with, I bought festive napkins, which are always the life of the party!

My favorite way to create an authentic, Mexican feel to a Cinco De Mayo party is to shop in the Hispanic food isle at the grocery store for anything authentic that can double as decor. I decided to use these colorful salsa cans as vases for table decoration. I had a lot of fun arranging my own mini bouquets for them too! Then, I used lemons and limes for added color and jalapenos as a plate garnish. All of these elements were a nice alternative to store-bought decor. I didn't, but you could totally impress your guests and DIY all of your Cinco De Mayo party decor.

As I accumulate more jewelry, I feel it's appropriate to develop a personal aesthetic to how I style my jewelry. Bracelets are by far my favorite jewelry to accessorize with, rings are a close second. So, I wanted to share with you guys the system I seem to have developed for how to wear (a lot) bracelets. I've separated bracelets into two main categories. You have your dainty bracelets for layering and those single statement bracelets - Here's how I wear them!

1. Layer your dainty bracelets on one wrist - This is where I really like to showcase my personal style

2. Pick one statement bracelet to wear on the other - Mixing metals is A-Okay

And, it's finally dress season! So, for my fourth installment with Marshalls we are talking springtime dresses that you can find at Marshalls. I told you the dress department was my favorite department to check whenever I pop into Marshalls. It's like a treasure hunt where you find those gems (Definition please! Gem of a dress: One of your favorite brands, in your size, at a grossly, low price). It truly makes me giddy inside. It's the little things in life, right? Speaking of gems - I found some great sequined dresses during my research, like this one. Don't you just love? Side bar: I like to call my shopping research, it makes me feel justified and important for doing it! :)

Some other hot dress trends to look for this season, to name a few, are lace, florals and prints. I like to think of this dress as a collaboration of the best of spring - neutrals, prints, and sequins all in one. It's loose fit keeps things a little more casual, so I decided to pair it with a denim jacket for a daytime look. Truth: I have nothing against wearing sequins while it's still light out! But, if I wanted to dress it up a bit, I would have gone for a sleek, black blazer and some sexy, strappy heels. I'm going out tonight and I think that might be what I'm wearing! Happy Friday xx

Handbags, What?

If you didn't notice before from all of the Stella & Dot I am always sporting here on this blog, or in those classic arm party pictures that I just love to post to Instagram, then the cat's out of the bag now! I am a Stella & Dot Stylist. It has truly been one of the best decisions I ever made. Besides that Stella & Dot such an awesome company to work for and the parties are so much fun, my jewelry stash has never been the same since.

When they first came out with a few purses, then some scarves, and even candles, I freaked. Now, as the main focus of their Summer 2013 Collection, they have released a line of adorable handbags and MORE accessories! From the little poofs that I just die for, to jewelry travel bags and huge totes, we are all in trouble. A watch is more of a bracelet than anything to me.
I really wanted a black watch to add to my collection and it's been a great accessory to have!

The rose gold details I, obviously, love. It pairs perfectly with my new rose gold, infinity bracelet.
Invicta had such a cool collection, it was hard to choose just one. :)

I had such a fun weekend and it was so nice to not have to wear a coat! I went with a casual graphic tee, my favorite white, pull-on jeans and wedges for outdoor brunching in the city.

A Structured Handbag

An oversized clutch is such a wardrobe staple this season and a great statement piece!

One of my FAVORITE departments in Marshalls is the accessories department, but mainly the handbags. It's such a thrill to see what kind of amazing designer deal you can find! And this bag, wasn't anything short of an amazing designer STEAL. I'm usually against white bags, but I think it's good to have at least one, and this seemed like a fabulous place to start! I love it's ladylike qualities; clean, structured, and you can't go wrong with a little bit of laser cut, leopard print.

I typically am drawn to multiple styles in one outfit. Like here, I had to pair my ladylike handbag with some tougher pieces; ripped, boyfriend jeans and a leather jacket. I also can't stray away from my love of the feel of a black and white look, so that's where I started when putting together this one. Then, in hopes of keeping it fun for Spring, I paired the bits of black and white with a few pops of color in a floral shirt and brightly colored jewelry.

Spring Trends at Target by fashionablybrokegirls featuring a v neck cardigan

From an interactive shopping video, which I still think is the most genius thing Target's done since bringing in the Icee machines, to running down the list of all the trends that are bringing a smile to my face this Spring, we’ve covered a lot of ground when it comes to updating your wardrobe for the season. We've gone through my must-have dresses and bikini's, to pretty stripes and two of my go-to colors, yellow and coral. Now they've asked me to raid Target for the ‘Best of the Best’ on my Target shopping list. Which, clearly, I replied, my pleasure! Hunting down great finds at Target is only one of my favorite hobbies, duh. That's why these posts with Target have really been so much fun for me!
