The extensions discussed in this article are meant to be used occasionally and are not actually attached to your hair or scalp. With that being said, these are a really fun accessory to add to your wardrobe. They can spice up an otherwise boring outfit or ad a little extra something to a nice hairstyle.

Find the hair. The best time to make these hair extensions is around Halloween, when a lot of fake hair and wigs are available. Find a wig or some fake hair that is the same length or a little longer than your own and move on to step 2.

Cut the hair. After deciding how many different hair extensions you want, cut the fake hair or wig accordingly. We recommend that you cut the hair between 1/2 inch or an inch in width.

Pin it. After you’ve cut as many segments of fake hair as you want, find some thin hair clips or bobby pins. These are what you will attach the fake hair to.

Glue it. This is the most important step of the process. You need to glue the fake hair to the bobby pins or hair clips you’ve selected without being messy about it. We recommend using superglue or hot glue, but make sure that you use the least amount of glue possible; you don’t want any glue to peek through the hair! Also, glue the hair all along the bobby pin or hair clip instead of gluing the hair all in one place; this will keep the hair from looking too clumpy when you put it in your hair.

Let it dry. Let your newly made hair extensions dry for a minimum of 24 hours before you use them.

How to use them. When you use your newly made hair extensions, be sure to put them underneath your hair. Do NOT put them near your scalp! If you do, they will show through and it will not look nice. Attach them under a good deal of your hair for the best and most natural look possible.

By : Mario

Apply Temporary Hair Extensions

Temporary, glue-in hair extensions are a relatively easy way to experience longer, thicker hair. They will last up to six weeks with proper care and maintenance and can be replaced easily. Change your look as often as you like with hair extensions that can be applied with bonding glue.

Clip all of your hair high on your head. Starting about one inch above the nape, use the pick to make a straight, horizontal line in hair from one end to the other.

From one end of the extension track, measure the amount of hair needed to cross the back of the scalp. Cut a piece of the track a little smaller than this length, as you do not want ends of extensions flipping up beyond your natural hair.

Make a line of bonding glue along the weft of the piece of extension hair you have just cut. Wait 30 seconds before applying so that glue will not drip.

Press and hold track with glue at the base of your natural hair that you have horizontally parted. Be sure to press along every part of the track to avoid air bubbles or loose spots. Try to avoid getting bonding glue on other parts of the hair, as this causes sticky tangles and may have to be cut out.

Tips and Warning

Wash hair only as necessary to extend the life of your extensions.

Plan to have hair trimmed and layered after applying extensions to blend your natural hair and new extensions.

Do not comb hair at the scalp while hair extensions are in. This will lead to breakage and will loosen the extensions from your roots.

Extensions will most likely come out at different times during shampooing. Plan to trim hair regularly during this time to avoid gaps in hair length.

By : ufsrae82

Haie Extensions Vitamin Product

Extension Hair and Nails, 60 capsules by Vitamin Research Products

Product Description

Did you know that the appearance of your hair and nails is actually determined inside your body? However, there are many women that do not feel comfortable wearing a short hairstyle or that occasionally want something more. This is one of the main reasons that hair extensions offer so much appeal. They provide you with the ability to temporarily wear a long hairstyle. If you want to get the most out of these clip-in pieces of hair, it is important to know how to care for hair extensions.

Shampoo your hair extensions. This is very important because the natural oils from your own hair are likely to be absorbed by the hair extensions. All that you need to do is gently run the shampoo through the hair extensions and rinse it out. When you do this, be sure to apply it throughout the entire length of hair and then rinse it out in the same direction. The same way that you would ideally shampoo your natural hair is how you should shampoo your hair extensions.

Keep extensions moist with conditioner. The reason that this is important is because the hair extensions will become dried out, especially if you plan on styling them at all. The main difference between shampooing and conditioning your hair extensions is that you will only need to run the conditioner through the ends of hair to get the best results. Otherwise, the hair extensions may become too greasy.

Be sure to get the tangles out of the hair. The only way that you can do this is by using a comb. You should never use a brush on tangled hair extensions. Keep in mind that you should also only try to get the tangles out when your hair is wet.

Use an extension brush. As you can probably guess, extension brushes are designed to best suit the needs of hair extensions. You can use them the same way that you would use a normal brush, such as when you use a blow dryer to dry the hair. If you want to properly care for hair extensions, you will definitely invest in an extension brush.

Tips and Warnings

Only use hot hair styling tools on the hair when it’s dry.

Only wear hair extensions in a ponytail if they are designed to do so.

Keep in mind that you pay for what you get with hair extensions.

For formal events, you may want to consider going to a salon for professional hair extensions.

Do not apply heat to the tips if you want your hair extensions to last.

Never be rough with your hair extensions.

By : Jody Morse

Remove Hair Extensions

When it's time to remove your hair extensions, what's the best and easiest way to go about it? Whichever method you choose, the best one is the one in which you don't lose a lot of your precious hair.

For glued-in extensions: Apply the glue dis-solver to the base of the extension. Work it in until the extension begins to loosen.

Use the comb to carefully comb the extension out, using your fingers to help in the process. Work gently so you don't pull out your own hair.

For sewn-in extensions: Your natural hair will probably be braided to your scalp and the extensions sewn into your braids. Find the thread that is sewn into your natural hair.

Cut the thread, being careful not to cut your hair. Pull the extension rows away from your hair gently.

Repeat step four for all of the sewn-in extensions.

Comb through your hair to loosen up and remove all the shed hair that has not been shed while in extensions.

Follow up with a shampoo and deep condition.

Tips and Warning

You will experience a lot of "shed hair" when removing extensions. This is normal, so don't be alarmed.

Don't remove extensions if you are in a hurry. I myself have quite thin and fine hair and wear them to add volume. They allow me to create styles that I could never do with my own thin locks. You can do the same. Read on to learn how to choose and prepare for hair extensions.

Preparing to have extensions put into your hair is not an overnight decision. You must first research the types of extensions available as there are many. There are glue-in, micro ring clamp-in, wafts, sewn-in and more. This guide is centered around the glue-in and micro ring clamp-in type of extensions.

Once you have decided on the type you will need to find a stylist who specializes in these type of extensions. Schedule a consultation to discuss what you are hoping to achieve by having extensions put into your hair, the length of time it will take, the desired result, color matching and any other concerns you may have about the experience.

The day of your extension placement plan to spend the full time four to five hours or more at the salon. I would plan on taking or purchasing a meal while there as this is a long process. You will need to have your hair prepared by shampooing with a clarifying shampoo and using no other products on your hair. Blow drying is fine but use no conditioner or other products as the hair is best in its cleanest natural condition. This will help the individual extensions adhere to your own hair.

Hours later you walk out of the salon with a new found confidence, flip your hair off your shoulder, and let it blow in the wind. But be careful and follow the simple warnings to owning extensions. And don't forget regular follow-ups with your stylist as your extensions begin to grow out.

Tips and Warnings

It is best to only use heat appliances liberally and not directly on the extension connections.

Conditioner is best used sparingly and only on the ends of your hair.

Do not shampoo or do any styling for at least three days allowing the connections to set well.

Do not use a flat iron or curling iron on the actual connections.

By : Kelliott

Trim Hair Extensions

Hair extensions cost many women both time and money, so to save time and money, trim your hair extensions at home instead of returning to the salon. Following a few tips makes trimming hair extensions possible even for a novice.

Comb tangles out of the hair extensions with a comb or wire brush. Part your hair down the middle of your head into two sections. Bring the two sections forward and hold one side together with a hair clip.

Hold your head straight and comb the side you didn't clip. Firmly hold a section of the hair extensions with one hand and use your other hand to hold the scissors.

Twist the small section of hair in a downward motion and trim the hairs that stick out. Trim the same amount from each section of the extension hair. Switch sides and clip the side you just trimmed and trim the other side of the head.

Bring all hair forward to one side and comb. Trim any longer hair to even the hair out. Comb the hair to the other side and trim any extra long hairs again. Repeat this until you are satisfied with the trim.

Touch up the hairline on the nape of the neck. Shave the hair creating a straight line with a razor or hair clippers. Use mirrors to help you trim the hairline.

Tips and Warning

Make sure all hairs are combed and none hide behind the ears.

Trim less than you want for your final length.

By : eHow Fashion, Style & Personal Care Editor

Make Hair Extensions Look Real

If you have hair extensions and you don't want anyone to know it make them look realistic just like top runway models do.

Get a package of air balloons. The same kind you might get to blow up at a party.

Before leaving for the day blow up one of the balloons.

Step outside and rub the balloon all over your head focusing on the extensions.

Once the static has built up pop the balloon or save it for later. Let your hair and the extensions settle naturally for a very realistic look.

By : JesaLynn
