Lama banget nggak online, dan mungkin dah hampir 3 minggu ini aku nggak jumpa teman2 blogger. Maunya sih sekalian bulan depan menyapa teman2 semua. Rasa kangen yang semestinya aku keluarin dengan menjadikan blog ini sebagai sasaran rasa ini. Dalam 3 minggu ini banyak yang aku alami mulai dari kuliahku yang hampir kelar sampai pada keluarnya diriku dari kontrakan yang hampir 1 tahun ini aku diami dengan teman2ku.

Weh..., pokoknya banyak deh yang pengen aku tulis di blog ini. Daripada sumpek mikirin semuanya, mendingan disalurkan ke blog aja, bnul nggak...?

Dongg...dongg...dongg... Barusan aku liat2 blog kakak2 n teman2 semuanya, and i found something interesting. Aku nggak tahu kalo pemilik tjahaju.blogspot.com adalah seseorang yang sering aku temui tiap aku keinternet di sebuah daerah di Malang... dohhhhhhhhh......bodohhhhhh....... Emang liat apa yach aku kalo pergi2 ke suatu tempat???????

Jadi inget pertama kali aku ke tempat kerjanya mbak Tjahaju, ntah dia tahu ato nggak yang aku tahu pada waktu itu ada seorang turis yang ngotot tanya kenapa kok warnetnya ditutup...??? (pada waktu itu masih baru2nya Matos dan kalo ndak salah ada pemadaman bergilir untuk membuat aliran listrik baru buat Matos...). Nah, si bule ini nanya pake body language and bahasa inggris yang ngetop abisss, pas waktu itu giliran jaganya mbak Tjahaju sekitar jam 4 sore-an gitu. Nah ketika giliran mbak Tjahaju njawab dianya cuman ketawa2 sambil nunjuk2 lampu (duh lutjunya...). Waktu itu aku dan Luna datang pengen ngenet juga dan pengen mbantu ngomongin kalo listrik masih padam sementara. Untung ada yang nolong, kalo nggak salah salah satu staff juga yang jaga dilantai dua turun kebawah untuk bantuin...

Sampai sekarang aku masih sering ke tempat mbak Tjahaju kerja, meskipun warnet yang khusus gamezonenya nutup... Bahkan 3 hari yang lalu aku sempet ketemu mbak Tjahaju untuk scan nilai teman aku. Mbak Tjahajux keren banget pake baju kerja yang warnanya putih (ato silver ya...??) alah wes mboh... yang penting aku baru tahu kalo itu dia. Cantik banget ketimbang yang difotonya yang ada blognya mbak Tjahaju...

Anyway, buat mbak Tjahaju, peace aja n semga panjang umur, dapet rejeki buanyak, dapet cowok keren n baek hati, n maapin aku kalo ada salah... Laen kali senyum dong, pasti tuambah caem...

Malam ini aku keliling malang dengan mengendarai speda motor butut milik temanku, anak brawijaya yang sekarang sedang pulang kampung... yah untung2 dia pulang pas lagi males bawa spedanya. Makanya, aku pengen banget pinjem spedanya itu...

Seharian aku pulang pergi dari Lawang ke Malang trus ke GunungKawi trus ke Malang lagi, trus nabrak becak deh... duh....... Sial banget, tapi untung juga nggak papa dengan spedanya, orangnya plus yang naik becak. Sehari-semalem keliling kota Malang bikin semua hal yang belum pernah terpikirkan jadinya semua beterbangan melayang keluar dari otakku. Akupun terbayang kenangan dengan seorang cewek dari TurianTapadha yang namanya biasa ku panggil Luna, dimana aku mengenal kota Malang melalui dirinya. Ntah kenapa aku kok jadi terbayang wajahnya...

Sekarang capek banget...met malem Luna, met malem dunia, met malem joemboe....
moga esok lebih baik bagiku...

(Aku bingung...) Membuka file Microsoft Word 2007 di 2003

Setelah pemunculan Microsoft Word 2007 pengguna lumayan di kejutkan dengan ekstensi yang digunakan yaitu "docx" ini berakibat file word yang di hasilkan tidak dapat dibuka pada Microsoft Word versi di bawahnya seperti 2003, 2000 dll.
Belum lagi bagi pera pengguna Open Office atau Star Office, boleh dibilang ini merupakan pukulan telak yang "mainkan" oleh Microsoft Corp.
Akhirnya dengan segala upaya dan dorongan yang ada dalam diriku, langsung aja ketik google.com dan selanjutnya browsing sampe 1 jam lebih hanya untuk mencari tools konverter. Bagi yang merasa kebingungan dengan kemunculan Microsoft Office 2007, maka kalian berhak untuk mendapatkan hadiah sebuah rasa stress karena file word yang ada di bawah tahun 2007 NDAK ISO DIBUKAK.....!!!! John Mayer - Heavier Things (Mp3)

Don't take the title of John Mayer's Heavier Things literally. Mayer offers nothing heavy on the follow-up to his breakthrough hit, Room for Squares -- nothing heavy in the music and nothing heavy in the lyrics. No, Mayer is smooth, slick, and streamlined on his second or third album (it all depends if you count his 1999 debut, Inside Wants Out, half of which was re-recorded for Room for Squares, which itself was released in two different incarnations), playing things straight and following the blueprint his big radio hit, "Your Body Is a Wonderland," provided. The title Heavier Things does reflect his new directness, lacking the lithe playfulness that resulted in a Hank Mobley joke, of all things, for an album title last time out. That extends to the rest of the album -- the humor and interesting wordplay have been toned down, leaving very little ambiguity. Actually, there's little left unexplained on the record, with every song on the album spread across several grids explaining where they were written and how many beats per minute they are, breaking them down into keywords, charting what "suggested target points" on the body the song should hit (tellingly, not one track is targeted at the crotch), and even grouping the songs together by key. The latter is a bit of a mistake, since it shows that for all those jazzy major and minor seventh chords gliding by in his songs, he's keeping his songwriting pretty simple, sticking to D, E, F, G, and A, with a G minor thrown in for good measure. This, of course, is not really a problem for listeners, since most listeners don't care how a song is written as long as it sounds good, but this does confirm that he's kept things simple, concentrating on how the record sounds and feels. And, as a piece of mood music, this is really quite effective, delivering on how "Your Body Is a Wonderland" sounds, with some really nice lush, laid-back textures and songs that are melodic without being truly catchy. It's music that floats through the speakers nicely and never leaves much of a lasting impression; it's how a jazzier, laid-back, less adventurous, and MOR-oriented Dave Matthews would sound. Mayer is now more of a record-maker than songwriter, which will undoubtedly dishearten those who liked the song-oriented Inside Wants Out, but those who just enjoyed the sound and feel of Room for Squares should feel right at home.

Little Big Town - Little Big Town (Mp3)

Little Big Town is a vocal quartet consisting of two men and two women who sing their songs by mixing up lead vocals and harmonies, such that one may start a song only to have another take the second verse, while some other combination sings the choruses. This, of course, is not typical of country music, nor are the song arrangements, which lean heavily to a folk-rock sound with prominent acoustic guitars and rhythm section, but only touches of fiddle and steel guitar; nor, for that matter, are the songs themselves, most of them written by the group members, which tend toward a pop sensibility with their generalized romantic sentiments. In the inevitable game of describing a new act by its antecedents, one must throw out names like Fleetwood Mac rather than any specifically country artists. Actually, Little Big Town does call to mind certain country acts of the past, though not prominent ones. They may remind knowledgeable country fans of such late-'80s performers as Foster & Lloyd and Kennedy Rose, duos that earned critical kudos (especially from non-country critics), but struggled to earn a commercial footing and ultimately found greater success behind the scenes as writers. Championed by Monument Records, the same label that changed the parameters of conventional country success with the Dixie Chicks, Little Big Town may succeed by re-writing the Nashville rule book in a similar way. But probably not. The Dixie Chicks had great songs, a powerful image, and an undeniable connection to hardcore country. Little Big Town does not have great songs, their image is diffuse, and they seem ready to cross over to pop at any minute. At least on their first album, the group is more a concept than a fully formed entity, which will make revolutionizing country music a challenge.

Bob Marley - Legends (Mp3)

The classic Marley album, the one that any fair-weather reggae fan owns, Legend contains 14 of his greatest songs, running the gamut from "I Shot the Sheriff" to the meditative "Redemption Song" and the irrepressible "Three Little Birds." Some may argue that the compilation shortchanges his groundbreaking early ska work or his status as a political commentator, but this isn't meant to be definitive, it's meant to be an introduction, sampling the very best of his work. And it does that remarkably well, offering all of his genre-defying greats and an illustration of his excellence, warmth, and humanity. In a way, it is perfect since it gives a doubter or casual fan anything they could want. Let's face it, the beauty and simplicity of Marley's music was as important as his message, and that's captured particularly well here.

Chris Isaak - Forever Blue (Mp3)

Without identifying who it was, Isaak made his mood clear with Forever Blue by including a farewell letter in the liner notes to the lover who had dumped him. Kicking things off with the snaky, almost guttural "Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing," later made a theme song for Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut, Isaak lives up to the confused, fractured message in that letter, turning Forever Blue into his own exorcism. On the one hand, he doesn't sound any less impassioned than before, but on the other, those who have criticized him for seeming to concentrate on the surface of his influences rather than the depths would probably find themselves outfoxed here. There's a stronger energy and fiercer edge to the music, as moodily beautiful as ever, to be sure, but cutting just a little more close to the bone, with even the quiet moments -- check the heartbreaking title track -- sounding truly lost and forlorn. Kenney Dale Johnson's drums hit with a harder energy in the louder moments, the more upbeat melodies have that much more of an incongruously jaunty feeling when set against the often-eviscerating lyrics, as directed as much against himself as the lost love in question. Still, the mysterious departed figure is clearly the main target, and songs like "Don't Leave Me on My Own" and "There She Goes" leave little doubt where things are headed, while "Go Walking Down There" practically explodes with bitterness, Isaak's lyrics lashing out against "the happy people" around him. The instrumental range on San Francisco Days carries over here, but with a newer emphasis on rougher edges mixed with quieter deliveries and arrangements -- a seemingly odd balance, but one that punctuates the sheen of Isaak's earlier work with aplomb, as well as forecasting ahead toward Baja Sessions. Erik Jacobsen again is the production ear behind it all, and credit to him for helping make sure those chances get taken.

1. Feedburner - It generates an smart feed compatible with all feed readers for free like my feed. It allows you to put easy subscribe buttons for XML, Add to yahoo, Add to Newsgator, Add to MSN etc. Read about how their single feed policy can benefit you.

It can give you a cool feed count chicklet button to show how many readers are using your feed to read your blog. 2. Haloscan - Trackback is an essential component of blogging these days. Unfortunately Blogger does not have trackback. Haloscan provides you with a seamless way to integrate free trackback in your blog by adding a small code. You can also integrate their comments component if you like to replace the Blogger comments. Read about Haloscan or Blogger comments.

The benefits are that you can edit Haloscan comments, and open them in a pop up and keep them separate from your post (Blogger allows you to only delete comments and not edit them, also on the post page all comments will show whether you like it or not).

The main disadvantage is it will not email you these comments (like Blogger) for free and it is difficult to track where these comments were made. Another major benefit is that it allows you to send pings and trackback to other sites when you mention about them in your posts.

3. Imageshack - Dont you want to fill your blog with images without hassles of registration. Imageshack provides an excellent interface to take care of your free image hosting needs. Maybe it is this the fastest way to host an image on the web. Allows lots of image format, hotlinking, transloading from other sites. Its a good idea to register to keep track of all your images in one place. It is much convenient than the proposed Hello and Picassa options…

Update: Blogger enabled hosting of images on its own webspace making it easier to host images in your posts. But you cannot manage or edit / delete your blogger images in any way

4. Technorati - Create and add a technorati profile. It allows you to claim your blog in this huge blogosphere. It allows you to put an excellent technorati search on your blog. The best part is that whenever someone mentions or links to any page of your blog, technorati knows and a search for your blog on technorati shows exactly how many sites link to which pages of your blog and when they were added with a small description. See why you need a technorati account.

5 - Sitemeter - Just takes 5 minutes to get a free tracker which gives you realtime site traffic statistics to check the quantity and quality of your site traffic with detailed referrer and geographic data. I have checked out several other tracking sites, but this one seems the best. Although you need to keep a counter visible (as a logo, visitor counter) and the statistics can be made private too.

StatCounter gives much more detailed statistics and the counter is totally invisible and free totally till you start getting large traffic, when you need to pay. But the disadvantage is that both of these track the last 100 visitors only, while another free service Extreme Tracking Google Analytics for deep traffic statistical analysis and it is hidden too. tracks them all… but you statistics cannot be made private. More options I like are

6. Feedblitz - It quickly allows your blog visitors to subscribe by email to your new posts. They just have to enter their email. You decide which page opens after they press Subscribe. A quick confirmatory email to them and they get 1 email daily with all your new posts. You can decide if you want to send the full post or short posts with defined number of characters. Very good to keep your subscribers informed of new posts. It allows them to unsubscribe easily also. Example for our blog.

7. My Blog Log - Tracks outgoing links to let you know where your traffic is going. The free limited version data is not in much detail, yet provides a good idea. You can also add a Top 5 Our Links module to your web site. Now they have a MyBlogLog community to get some extra site traffic too.

8 AudioBlogger- Audioblogger allows free unlimited audio posts from any phone to your Blogger blog. You call the number (Currently a US phone number), record a post, then your blog is updated with an audioblogger icon and a link to your recorded audio.

9. w.bloggar - It is a Post and Template editor, with several features and resources that the browser based blog editors do not offer. It enables users to have only one interface to several accounts hosted on several different sites, using different publishing systems. Helps to manage multiple blogs on Blogger very effectively.

10 Blogger Mobile - opens a new concept of Moblogging i.e. blogging by your mobile phone. When you send text or photos from your mobile device to go@blogger.com they’re automatically posted to your new blog page.

11. Blogexplosion - helps you get confirmed traffic to your blog. The principle is simple, you visit other peoples blogs and they visit yours. For every 2 blogs you visit, one visitor comes to you. This is very good if you are new blogger and have hardly any traffic. Definitely try the Rent a Blog advertising swap service.

12. Pingoat - Pinging lets dozens of blogging services know you’ve updated your site and increases traffic to your blog. 6+1 Ways to Get More Traffic for Your Blog or Website

Web traffic for most websites drop during the weekend because less people are using the internet to look for information or checking their favorite websites for new content.

This is a natural and inevitable occurrence and a corresponding dip in traffic figures or sales is nothing to be alarmed about.

Jay Wilson recently asked if I had any recommendations to stop traffic from reducing during the weekends and as a matter of fact, I do have some suggestions that might work, although they will require some effort on your part.

Getting traffic to your site during the weekends is no different from methods commonly used to increase visitors to your site during the weekdays. The key is to focus on hitting defensible traffic sources for referral traffic, since these are factors which you can control to a certain extent (as opposed to organic search traffic).

6+1 Ways to Get More Traffic for Your Blog or Website

Your goal is to target websites with regular traffic flows and large numbers of users and make them referral sources which will send visitors to your website. Naturally, you should try to focus on getting targeted traffic whenever possible.

These short-term strategies will allow you to get traffic very soon after you implement them. They will not only reduce your weekend traffic dip but may get you even more traffic to your website than the weekdays.

I have omitted other long term traffic building methods like building a community, product development, joint ventures or affiliate programs because they are not something you can easily implement for immediate results.

Network within Social Communities. This includes posting and interacting with other people on relevant forums, social networks like Facebook, news sites like Digg/Reddit as well as blog sites like Blogcatalog or MyBloglog. There will always been people on crowded online communities and you will always get some visitors if you plug your site discreetly in the right places.
Create a Weekend Link Bait. Establish the habit of creating and promoting a weekend Link Bait on popular social websites like Digg, Reddit, del.icio.us or StumbleUpon. This is by the far the easiest and most powerful way to get traffic to your site during the weekends.
Social news sites usually get less news during the weekend, and it is likely that your bait will be more successful during this time.
Comment on Blogs. While many blogs don’t update during the weekend, you can still comment on the ones that do. Focus on those with more traffic and try to be the first few to leave a comment. Make your comment relevant and you’re likely to receive some visitors from others who visit the same blog.
Email Pitch Your Website. Write an email to bloggers within your niche to promote your website, business or best article for last week. Give away a product or offer premium access for selected publishers in return for a mention.
Some blogs like Daily Blog Tips have a habit of doing weekend speed-linking. Pitch your site to these blogs and you’ll get some traffic if you get a link.
Try Blog Traffic Exchanges. Blog traffic exchanges are tools which allow you to get traffic by visiting other blogs. They are more useful for newer blogs and as they require more time and effort on your part, I suggest using them strategically to find new blogs within your niche as well.
Use Paid Advertising. This involves spending money on paid advertising in order to get traffic to your website. Pay per click advertising and social media advertising on sites like StumbleUpon can bring in traffic on the weekends. The benefit of this method is that you don’t have to do any work whatsoever.
Publish During the Weekend. Publishing during the weekend will get you some traffic, especially if you have many feed subscribers as some of them will visit your site to read the full article or comments. Smaller sites can also benefit as new content will bring in a small amount of long tail search traffic.
Future publish your post during the weekend so you don’t have to sit down in front of the computer to write. Asking a question is sometimes the quickest way to put out an extra blog post.

The downside of all of these methods (with the exception of paid advertising) is the time-investment. Do you really want to spend time in front of the computer on the weekend? The amount of time needed for these tasks will vary and perhaps it would be better to alternate them each weekend to lessen the workload.

Another way to deal with this would be to get someone to help promote your site for the weekend instead of doing it yourself. Learning how to oursource marketing is important, even for amateur webmasters or bloggers because they can really help your website to grow much faster.

Its over man... Yudi sudah memutuskan untuk mengundurkan diri dari band yang telah setahun membesarkan namanya di dunia kampus. Agak mendadak memang, tapi mengapa semua ini harus terjadi sih???? Anyway, for me this is very dissapointing after a lot of sacrafices and works in expanding the brand of the band itself, we must suffer all this...

Aslinya aku tahu dan nggak mau tahu apa terjadi sebab yang membawa aku masuk kedalam band ini adalah Yudi sendiri. Heh...capek deh..., kok bisa ini terjadi?? Padahal ntar tanggal 11 September 2007 kita ada job manggung di RRI Malang, trus ntar malam inagurasi kampus kita juga tampil sebagai guest star...Ntar gimana dengan masalah kekompakan selama ini yang didengungkan oleh si Yudi dan teman - teman yang lain di band ini???

9 great things not to do with google

There is no question that you can make some good money with Google AdSense, but you're setting yourself up for disaster if you make any of these Top 9 mistakes!

1. Do not use fake information when opening your Google AdSense account.
Google says that's a no-no and they will cut your account off and keep all the money you may have earned. Besides, trying to hide your true identity can cause serious problems with the I.R.S. or whoever your tax authority is.

2. Do not hack or modify Google AdSense code other than to change the parameters that Google authorizes you to change.

Any attempt to bypass Google built-in algorithms not only poses a danger to the integrity of the network, but it threatens the financial modle that Google operates under. You’re not dealing with some Mom-and-Pop company here, and Google has the legal muscle and deep enough pockets to drag you through every court in the land if you damage their business with your hacking antics.

3. Keep AdSense ads off of your registration, confirmation, and all "thank you" pages.

Don't ask me why you can't put your ads there. It makes sense to me that those would be wonderful locations. Google thinks otherwise, however, and doing so is a hanging offense according to their Terms of Service.

4. Do not display AdSense ads and a competitor's ads (like Overture's) on the same page at the same time.

That just makes plain good sense. Google doesn't demand 100% SITE loyalty from you, but they do insist that their own ads not be cluttered up by offerings from their competitors.

5. Don't "beg for clicks" or provide any incentive for clicking on your Google AdSense ads.
This is a biggie and you see this rule violated all the time. Any of the get paid to do stuff sites that put Google ads in the member control panels are walking the plank and they don't even realize it.

Even those sites with the polite little messages asking you to help keep my site running by clicking on our sponsor ads are asking to be cut off if those happen to be Google ads.

6. Never click on the ads running on your own site

even if you are genuinely interested in the product or service and are thinking of buying it!

Nothing screams FRAUD louder than a webmaster running up his or her own click counts by happily clicking on ads fromtheir own site. The Google Gods can track this activity and it won't be long until you find yourself getting a goodbye note from their fraud team.

7. No misleading labeling

Google is very specific about what text can be placed around their ads. Their Terms of Service state: Publishers may not label the ads with text other than sponsored links or advertisements.This includes any text directly above our ads that could be confused with, or attempt to be associated with Google ads.

This is to keep visitors from becoming confused and barking up Google tree when they clicked on an ad that led to a porn site instead of the recipe site they were expecting to visit.

8. Avoid keyword spamming and other divisive tricks

You may be tempted to buy one of those generates thousands of key-word rich pages in seconds” programs that are so popular these days but I'll tell you this: Their days are numbered. Google is wise to such shenanigans and they will be hot on your trail. Other prohibited gimmicks include:

Sneaky page redirects that send a visitor off to a different site then they were expecting to visit.

Multiple sites, domains, pages, etc. which have substantially duplicate content. Hidden text or links of any type. Excessive outbound links on any page. Google recommends no more than 100. I'd keep it way below that.

And here is a nugget of wisdom straight from Google mouth Do not participate in link schemes designed to increase your site's ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or "bad neighborhoods" on the web as your website may be affected adversely by those links.

1.If you have a *Google AdWords account*, pretend you are planning to advertise using different keywords, and see how much you'd have to pay. That will give you a good indication of the popularity of the keywords.

Here's how. Follow these steps.

In step 2, "Create AdGroup", click on "Calculate Estimates" and "Recalculate Estimates". These show you the maximum you would have to pay per click to advertise for particular keywords or key phrases.

For finding new key phrases, you can also use the AdWords Keywords Tool. It may be useful.
Sometimes it's not. 2. Keywords Analyzer is a superb tool which can generate thousands of key phrases that people are typing into search engines.
If you have a Wordtracker account, you can also import data from Wordtracker and analyze it. It shows you, for example, how many advertisers have ad campaigns at AdWords for each phrase. If you're using AdSense, the more advertisers the better!

3. Have a look at the top 100 keywords on 7search. This will give you a quick idea of keywords that people are willing to pay big money for. You can also type phrases into the 7Search Keyword Suggestion Tool. This is just step one of your keyword research. You'll want to dig deeper.

4. At FindWhat pay-per-click search engine you can do a search for any phrase and quickly see how much advertisers are paying per click.

The top three advertisers often pay about $12 per click.
So that might be an good choice for a topic - provided you're a specialist on mesothelioma AND provided that your research shows that it's an in-demand topic.

You can also use it to compile a useful list of keywords relating to one topic. If you buy it for a day or a week, you can do a lot of research in that time. It's the tool the professionals use.

Wordtracker has a free trial, but it's fairly limited. You can subscribe for as little as one day and do an awful lot of keyword research in that time.

Affiliates struggling to earn $100 a month often find it hard to believe that other people could possibly earn as much as $10,000 or even $100,000 a month in commissions.
Believe it. Big commissions do happen. And you can expect to hear about even bigger commissions. Forrester Research predicts that affiliate programs and affiliate networks will produce $280 billion annually in e-commerce sales by 2008. In most programs, 5% of the affiliates generate the vast majority of the sales. If you're not in that 5% and want to be, you'll have to change what you're doing.

Here are 12 mistakes you could be making, and how to fix them.

1. Are you telling people how to make money on the Internet when you don't know how yourself?
Perhaps - just perhaps - you can succeed at this, but it's the most obvious trap into which new affiliates fall. You join a few affiliate programs and set up a site offering Internet marketing tips, work-from-home tips, instant-business tips, or be-your-own-boss tips.
The advantages of doing this include having great products to promote, high commissions and lots of help from Internet marketers.

However, if you do this, you face two massive challenges.
1. You'll have hundreds of thousands of web pages out there competing with yours.
2. You're competing with the planet's best marketing EXPERTS. Some of the brightest brains in Internet marketing are working full-time to grab the attention of your target audience.
I'm not saying you can't succeed in this field, but if you're new to affiliate programs, this is definitely NOT the best place to begin. If you're struggling, find a less well traveled path.
You don't have to abandon your existing website. Just launch a new one based on a new theme.
Later, when you've learned more and really have something to offer, it will be time to revamp your marketing tips site. Choose a new theme. Try a new niche.

2. Are you promoting the PROGRAM instead of the PRODUCT?
Over and over again, affiliates join a two-tier affiliate program and then create a page telling other people to join it. I've done this myself with LifetimeCustomers.com. However, that site is not my core business. It's just one page, which I created fairly quickly.
Feel free to try that technique, but don't pin all your hopes on it.
Unless you're really skilled at signing up key people in key places, or know how to sign up many thousands of affiliates, you're not likely to get rich on second-tier commissions.
The people you sign up will tend to copy you and try to sign up more people... Whoops! That sounds like the worst aspects of multi-level marketing. Who's going to actually SELL something and earn commissions?
I once read a report which claimed that my success with the SiteSell affiliate program http://www.AssociatePrograms.com/affiliates is due to the fact that I've signed up thousands of sub-affiliates. That suggestion was just a silly guess - and it's utter rubbish.
Only a tiny percentage of the thousands of dollars I earn each month from SiteSell is from second-tier commissions. I succeed because I promote the PRODUCTS. They're incredibly good value, I believe in them, and I succeed by telling people so.

3. Are you using banners instead of endorsements?
I know. It takes time, effort and money to buy and study the product you're trying to sell. It's much easier just to cut and paste a bit of HTML code. However, personal, enthusiastic endorsements out-sell everything else by miles.
If you put in the effort, you'll get the sales. You can probably quadruple your sales by endorsing the products you sell.
You can also combine graphics, text, short descriptions and relevant articles. However, best of all are your own, original personal endorsements.

4. Are you failing to capture email addresses?
If you don't collect addresses, your marketing effort is a one-shot wonder. You're making only one attempt per visitor to achieve a sale and then giving up.
As branding expert Rob Frankel says, people like buying from people they know, like and trust.
If you're not giving people a chance to get to know and trust you, don't be surprised if they don't buy.
If you're not collecting email addresses, you're seriously crippling your marketing. Remember how the big dot-coms poured buckets of money into banner advertising and TV advertising? Now they've finally realized that collecting email addresses is much better value.
It's getting harder and harder to do, because we're all deluged with spam and newsletters which don't provide the information we need. So get started now, before the competition becomes even stronger.
You may not want the commitment of publishing a weekly newsletter. Perhaps you don't believe you have the necessary skills. One option is to simply offer a monthly Update newsletter, telling people what's new on your site.
Perhaps you don't like the thought of being tied to a weekly or monthly publishing schedule. You don't have to be. You can publish irregularly, only when you feel you have something worth saying - or selling.

5. Do you have visitors but no sales?
Some affiliates complain that they receive thousands of visitors but can't turn those visitors into buyers. To them, I usually recommend re-reading Ken Evoy's article on pre-selling. Studying that article and implementing Ken's suggestions could have a huge impact on your sales.
Donald Skarzenski reported on a company which bought a MILLION visitors but - whoops! - hadn't first taken the time to figure out what to do with them. It's a tale of stupidity on a grand scale.

6. Are you doing the same tired old things over and over?
It's time to try something new.
If you keep repeating actions which fail, you'll continue failing. If what you're doing isn't working well, it's time to change it, to move out of your comfort zone and try something new.
Here's something you can do. You can syndicate your columns or tips all over the Net to other web sites. Imagine how that would boost your image, your traffic and your sales.
Each web site publishing your column simply puts two lines of JavaScript code on its page at the location where your column is to appear.
All you do is paste your column into a Syndicator form and click a button. That one button click automatically updates all syndicated web site pages.

7. Are you building a business on a foundation of sand?
Are you promoting questionable products and services in the hope of earning high commissions?
Or are you building something of VALUE? Are you creating a business you're proud of?
Even if it's a small site, build a USEFUL, strong web site, one which provides valuable information and helps people. Not only will this give you a great sense of achievement, it will do wonders for your marketing.
If you build a site or write a newsletter which helps people, your readers will do a lot of your marketing for you.
They really will.
I love it when I see my sites mentioned on other web sites, in newsletters, in mailing lists and in books. I love it when web sites link to mine.
For example, my assistant Glennys is building a useful resource with Pay Per Click Search Engines , the first directory of pay-per-click search engines.
Most of the links to it were created simply because website owners like it and want to recommend it.
Ralph Wilson, publisher of the hugely popular Web Marketing Today newsletter, has created a massive, valuable Internet marketing resource which earns links the same way.
Such voluntary links are pure gold. People see the site recommended, visit it, and add a link on their site, and so on...
Such a site takes time to build but after a while momentum builds.
If you're the expert in your niche, you'll be interviewed for articles in newsletters and books - and those articles will attract more interviews for more articles...
All those links and favorable mentions don't just boost your reputation and sales, they help boost your ranking in search engines such as Google.

8. Are you selling ONLY other people's products?
It is possible to earn a living that way, but such successes are rare.
Create your OWN product. Then you can use affiliate programs for back-end sales.
That works well because someone who has just bought a product is often in the mood for buying a second, complementary product.
When you create your own product, you control your destiny.
You control how it is marketed.
You control how much profit you make.

The digest gave him an opportunity to build credibility, respect and trust while encouraging people to help others. John sold I-Sales Digest to someone who didn't have John's flair and didn't seem to care enough about his readers. It quickly folded.

10. Are you learning from mediocre sources?
Because conditions are changing so fast on the Net, you need to learn fast and grab the opportunities which exist now. One way to save time is to learn from Internet experts. You won't make so many mistakes that way. Learn from people who are earning a very good living from Internet marketing.

11. Have you forgotten to add a dash of personality?
When Chris Pirillo published his Libera Manifesto on his site he received a huge flood of responses.
Chris received that outpouring of support because he injects his personality into his writing and because he's acknowledged as a hard-working expert in his field.
Too much of the Internet is cold and anonymous. Your visitors appreciate knowing that there's a real person running the site they're visiting.

12. Are you failing to PLAN?
I received an email from someone who had bought a domain name and was trying to decide what to do with it. Whoops! That's getting things backwards. First you have to decide what you want to do.
Here are three main options for affiliates. They all work.

*Option 1:* "Go where the money is," says the highly successful Marlon Sanders.
Do research on what is popular and sell that. Do a survey, find out what people want and sell it to them. Want to know what's hot? Here's a really fast way. Keep an eye on Yahoo! Shopping. Yahoo! has done lots of research and endless experimenting. It knows what sells.
Look at the "What's hot" list, where you'll find such things as digital cameras, MP3 players and Razor scooters.

*Option 2:* "Follow your passion," says Ken Evoy.
Choose a topic in which you are passionately interested and build a site around that theme.
That way, you'll enjoy what you're doing and derive a great deal of satisfaction from it. It won't seem like work. "Everyone, absolutely EVERYONE, has a special interest... a passion," he says. Tip #1: Don't put ads on empty pages.
When I reworked my site, I built a skeleton set of pages that had no
content, just titles and some meta tags. I displayed ads on those pages,
however. Although all you see are public service ads at first, the very
act of displaying ads on a page causes the AdSense web crawler to
quickly fetch that page for analysis. A page with good content will thus
begin showing relevant paying ads fairly quickly.
If you don't have any content, then, Google will have to guess as what
your page is about. It may guess wrong, and so the ads that it displays
may not be relevant. You'll have to wait until Google re-crawls the site
for the ads to correct themselves. Here is what Google had to say when I
asked them about how often the AdSense crawler updates a site:
Thank you for taking the time to update your site. New ads will start
appearing on your site the next time our crawler re-indexes your site.
Unfortunately at this time, we are unable to control how often our
crawlers index the content on your site.
Crawling is done automatically by our bots. When new pages are added to
your website or introduced to the AdSense program, our crawlers will
usually get to them within 30 minutes. If you make changes to a page,
however, it may take up to 2 or 3 weeks before the changes are reflected
in our index. Until we are able to crawl your web pages, you may notice
public service ads, for which you will not receive any earnings.
It's better to flesh out the page before you start displaying ads on it.

Tip #2: Don't be afraid to ask questions
If you're wondering about something, don't be afraid to ask Google. So
far, they've always responded to my questions within a working day.
There are two email addresses to use, depending on the type of question:

Tip #3: Avoid non-English characters on English pages

write it out correctly with the /accent grave/ on the first "e". Every
page on my site would then include at least two accented letters,
because my name shows up twice in the footer. On some pages my name
shows up two or three more times.

Tip #4: Check your keyword density
Although Google doesn't release exact details as to how they determine
the ads to serve on a given page, they do tell us that it's the /text
content/ of the page that matters, not the meta tags. Before serving ads
on a page, then, you might want to check its /keyword density/. A good,
