The president of Syria Bachar Al assad's Emails

Bashar al-Assad took advice from Iran on how to handle the uprising against his rule, according to a cache of what appear to be several thousand emails received and sent by the Syrian leader and his wife.

The Syrian leader was also briefed in detail about the presence of western journalists in the Baba Amr district of Homs and urged to "tighten the security grip" on the opposition-held city in November.
The revelations are contained in more than 3,000 documents that activists say are emails downloaded from private accounts belonging to Assad and his wife Asma.
The messages, which have been obtained by the Guardian, are said to have been intercepted by members of the opposition Supreme Council of the Revolution group between June and early February.
The documents, which emerge on the first anniversary of the rebellion that has seen more than 8,000 Syrians killed, paint a portrait of a first family remarkably insulated from the mounting crisis and continuing to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle.
They appear to show the president's wife spending thousands of dollars over the internet for designer goods while he swaps entertaining internet links on his iPad and downloads music from iTunes.
As the world watched in horror at the brutal suppression of protests across the country and many Syrians faced food shortages and other hardships, Mrs Assad spent more than £10,000 on candlesticks, tables and chandeliers from Paris and instructed an aide to order a fondue set from Amazon.
The Guardian has made extensive efforts to authenticate the emails by checking their contents against established facts and contacting 10 individuals whose correspondence appears in the cache. These checks suggest the messages are genuine, but it has not been possible to verify every one.
The emails also appear to show that:
• Assad established a network of trusted aides who reported directly to him through his "private" email account – bypassing both his powerful clan and the country's security apparatus.
• Assad made light of reforms he had promised in an attempt to defuse the crisis, referring to "rubbish laws of parties, elections, media".
• A daughter of the emir of Qatar, Hamid bin Khalifa al-Thani, this year advised Mr and Mrs Assad to leave Syria and suggested Doha may offer them exile.
• Assad sidestepped extensive US sanctions against him by using a third party with a US address to make purchases of music and apps from Apple's iTunes.
• A Dubai-based company, al-Shahba, with a registered office in London is a key conduit for Syrian government business and private purchases of Mrs Assad.
Activists say they were passed username and password details believed to have been used by the couple by a mole in the president's inner circle. The email addresses used the domain name alshahba.com, a group of companies used by the regime. They say the details allowed uninterrupted access to the two inboxes until the leak was discovered in February.
The emails appear to show how Assad assembled a team of aides to advise him on media strategy and how to position himself in the face of increasing international criticism of his regime's attempts to crush the uprising, which is now thought to have left 10,000 dead.
Activists say they were able to monitor the inboxes of Assad and his wife in real time for several months. In several cases they claim to have used information to warn colleagues in Damascus of imminent regime moves against them.
The access continued until 7 February, when a threatening email arrived in the inbox thought to be used by Assad after the account's existence was revealed when the Anonymous group separately hacked into a number of Syrian government email addresses. Correspondence to and from the two addresses ceased on the same day.
The emails appear to show that Assad received advice from Iran or its proxies on several occasions during the crisis. Before a speech in December his media consultant prepared a long list of themes, reporting that the advice was based on "consultations with a good number of people in addition to the media and political adviser for the Iranian ambassador".
The memo advised the president to use "powerful and violent" language and to show appreciation for support from "friendly states". It also advised that the regime should "leak more information related to our military capability" to convince the public that it could withstand a military challenge.
The president also received advice from Hussein Mortada, an influential Lebanese businessman with strong connections to Iran. In December, Mortada urged Assad to stop blaming al-Qaida for an apparent twin car bombing in Damascus, which took place the day before an Arab League observer mission arrived in the country. He said he had been in contact with Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon who shared his view.
"It is not out of our interest to say that al-Qaida is behind the operation because this claim will [indemnify] the US administration and Syrian opposition," Mortada wrote not long after the blasts. "I have received contacts from Iran and Hezbollah in my role as director of many Iranian-Lebanese channels and they directed me to not mention that al-Qaida is behind the operation. It is a blatant tactical media mistake."
In another email Mortada advised the president that the regime needed to take control of public squares between 3pm and 9pm to deny opposition groups the opportunity to gather there.
Iran and Hezbollah have been accused throughout the year-long uprising of providing on-the-ground support to the regime crackdown, including sending soldiers to fight alongside regime forces and technical experts to help identify activists using the internet. Iran and Hezbollah both deny offering anything more than moral support.
Among those who communicated with the president's account were Khaled al-Ahmed who, it is believed, was given the task of advising about Homs and Idlib. In November Ahmed wrote to Assad urging him to "tighten the security grip to start [the] operation to restore state control in Idlib and Hama countryside".
He also advised Assad that he had been told European reporters had "entered the area by crossing the Lebanese borders illegally". In another mail he warned the president that "a tested source who met with leaders of groups in Baba Amr today said a big shipment of weapons coming from Libya will arrive to the shores of one of the neighbouring states within three days to be smuggled to Syria".

The emails offer a rare window into the mind of the isolated Syrian leader, apparently lurching between self-pity, defiance and flippancy as he swapped links to amusing video footage with his aides and wife. On one occasion he forwards to an aide a link to YouTube footage of a crude re-enactment of the siege of Homs using toys and biscuits.
Throughout 2011, his wife appears to have kept up regular correspondence with the Qatar emir's daughter, Mayassa al-Thani. But relations appear to have chilled early this year when Thani directly suggested that the Syrian leader step down.
"My father regards President Bashar as a friend, despite the current tensions – he always gave him genuine advice," she wrote on 11 December. "The opportunity for real change and development was lost a long time ago. Nevertheless, one opportunity closes, others open up – and I hope its not too late for reflection and coming out of the state of denial."
A second email on 30 January was more forthright and including a tacit offer of exile. "Just been following the latest developments in Syria … in all honesty – looking at the tide of history and the escalation of recent events – we've seen two results – leaders stepping down and getting political asylum or leaders being brutally attacked. I honestly think this is a good opportunity to leave and re-start a normal life. I only pray that you will convince the president to take this an opportunity to exit without having to face charges. The region needs to stabilise, but not more than you need peace of mind. I am sure you have many places to turn to, including Doha."
The direct line of reporting to Assad, independent of the police state's military and intelligence agencies, was a trait of his father, Hafez al-Assad, who ruled Syria for three decades until his death in 2000 ushered the then 36-year-old scion into the presidency. Assad Sr was renowned for establishing multiple reporting lines from security chiefs and trusted aides in the belief that it would deny the opportunity for any one agency to become powerful enough to pose a threat to him. His son has reputedly shown the same instincts through his decade of rule. The year-long uprising against his decade of rule appeared to be faltering this week as forces loyal to Assad retook the key northern city of Idlib.
Much of Assad's media advice comes from two young US-educated Syrian women, Sheherazad Jaafari and Hadeel al-Al. Both regularly stress to Assad, who uses the address sam@alshahba, the importance of social media and the importance of intervening in online discussions. At one point, Jaafari boasts that CNN has fallen for a nom-de-guerre that she set up to post pro-regime remarks. The emails also reveal that the media team has convinced Twitter to close accounts that purport to represent the Syrian regime.
Several weeks after sam@alshahba.com email was compromised in February, a new Syrian state TV channel broadcast two segments denying the email address had been used by Assad. Opposition activists claim that this was a pre-emptive move to discredit any future leaking of the emails.
On Wednesday Assad announced new parliamentary elections to be held across Syria on 7 May. The move appears to be in response to Kofi Annan's demand following his visit to Damascus over the weekend for a ceasefire coupled with elections. Activists have described a referendum last month that paved the way for the poll as a sham.
There was further bloodshed on the ground. Opposition activists said government forces killed dozens of people near a mosque in the city of Idlib, with rebels killing at least 10 troops in the same area. In Homs, residents said the old part of the city came under government bombardment. They also reported a massacre of 53 people in the Karm el-Zeytoun area of south-east Homs.

The US president, Barack Obama, signed an executive order last May imposing sanctions against Assad and other Syrian government officials.
In addition to freezing their US assets, the order prohibited "US persons" from engaging in transactions with them. The EU adopted similar measures against Assad last year. They include an EU-wide travel ban for the Syrian president and an embargo on military exports to Syria.

Sleeping pills linked to higher risk of cancer, death, study says

A new study suggests that the 6% to 10% of Americans who use prescription sleep medications such as zolpidem (Ambien), temazepam (Restoril), eszopiclone (Lunesta) and zaleplon (Sonata) are more likely to develop cancer, and far more likely to die prematurely, than those who take no sleep aids.

The increased rates kick in at really low levels too, the study says. For those prescribed as few as one to 18 sleeping pills in a year, deaths during the period of the new study were more than three and a half times greater than for those who got no such prescriptions, the study says. And for patients who took home the largest number of prescriptions for sleep aids--for more than 132 pills per year--the risk of death was five times greater than among those who appeared to take no sleep aids, according to the study.

Studies such as this one do not establish whether sleep drugs are a cause of the increased cancers and deaths or whether, perhaps, those who are at greater risk of dying or developing cancer are simply more likely to seek a prescription for sleep problems. To establish such cause-and-effect relationships, clinical trials, which would compare subjects taking sleep medications against those taking a sham drug, would be necessary, said study coauthor Dr. Daniel F. Kripke, a professor of psychiatry emeritus at UC San Diego now affiliated with the Scripps Clinic in La Jolla.

In addition, the "all-cause mortality" used in the study is a crude measure of a drug's risk, because the measure aggregates a wide range of seemingly unrelated health crises: automobile accidents, injuries, suicides, infectious diseases such as influenza, and chronic conditions, including asthma, diabetes and cancer.

The study, released this week by the British medical publication BMJ Open, found an increase in cancer incidence among those taking sleep medications that was modest but statistically significant. Compared with patients with no record of taking prescription sleeping pills, the study says, those who were the heaviest users of prescription sleep aids were 35% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer during the study period.

The use of sedative medications was a better predictor than a participant's current smoking habit of whether he or she would develop lymphoma or cancer of the lung, colon or prostate during the study period, according to the research.

Conducted by researchers from Scripps and the Jackson Hole Center for Preventive Medicine in Jackson, Wy., the study tracked 10,531 patients given prescriptions for hypnotic sedatives for at least three months and for as long as four years. For comparison, researchers matched each patient prescribed with a sleep aid with at least two patients of similar age, gender and health status who had no record of having had sleep aids prescribed.

Zolpidem--sold as Ambien--was the most widely used prescription sleep medication used by study participants, followed by Restoril, the research says. But 4,117 of the participants got prescriptions for other sleep aids, including Lunesta, Sonata, benzodiazepines, barbituates and sedative antihistamines.

Given the millions of Americans for whom prescription sleep medication is a routine habit, the authors estimate that in 2010 alone, 320,000 to 507,000 deaths in the United States may have been associated with prescription sleep-aid use. Despite evidence that they may not add much to a night's sleep, Americans in 2010 filled some 66 million prescriptions for "hypnotics and sedatives," according to IMS Health, which tracks drug trends. That makes sleep aids the 20th most used class of prescription therapies.

Kripke acknowledged he was "very shocked" by the higher cancer levels he found in this large population. "I suspect people who work for the manufacturers of these drugs might be shocked too."

Sanofi-Aventis, the maker of Ambien, said Tuesday in a statement that the BMJ Open study had limitations beyond those acknowledged by its authors. The company called the study's conclusions "highly questionable," and cited its average follow-up of 2.5 years as insufficient to detect whether cancers were new, and might be the result of sleep aids, or whether they had already taken hold at the time a patient got a prescription for sleep problems.

Kripke agreed that cause and effect had not been established but underscored that a litany of studies have stirred concern about the safety of sleep medications, including research that was submitted to the Food and Drug Administration when some of these drugs were approved.

Kripke said that beyond their common role in fatal medication overdoses, there's evidence that widely used sleep medications raise risks for many ills: "hangover" effects dull alertness and cognitive performance, which may lead to accidents and injuries; studies (including this one) have found that gastroesophageal regurgitation and peptic ulcers are more common among those taking sleep aids, which could drive up rates of infection and of cancer; other studies have linked sleep aids' use with depression and sleep apnea, which in turn raise risks of suicide, diabetes and heart disease.

As for how sleep medicine could be linked to cancer, that is harder to discern. A 2008 study by Kripke on rodents found hypnotics to have a carcinogenic effect, and suggested they can cause chromosomal damage. But human studies have been more mixed.

For those who rely on prescription sleep drugs to get to sleep and stay asleep, Kripke, a specialist in sleep disorders and their treatment, said that changes in "sleep hygiene" can make a difference, as can cognitive-behavioral therapy. But he added that many--especially older patients-- who lean on sleep aids should know that they may function perfectly well with a little less sleep, and that medications do not add large chunks of sleep-time to a night's rest anyway.

ICRC quit Homs as evacuation talks fail

DAMASCUS — Red Cross and Red Crescent rescuers left the Syrian rebel city of Homs on Tuesday after talks to evacuate trapped Western journalists foundered, spokesman for the two aid groups said.
“Our team returned to Damascus at around 2:30 P.M. (1230 GMT) after negotiations yesterday and today with a sheikh (religious official) who was serving as an intermediary,” to evacuate the journalists, Abdel Rahman Attar told AFP.
“He asked for food and medical supplies for the residents of Baba Amr and our team accepted. We asked in return to meet the journalists, but he refused,” Attar added.
The International Committee of the Red Cross in Damascus said its delegates had left Homs for the same reasons.
“The ICRC team has returned. The negotiations have been halted and the situation is very tense in Baba Amr,” the rebel stronghold of Homs where journalists are believed trapped, said ICRC spokesman Saleh Dabbakeh.
There are three Western reporters trapped in Baba Amr, a rebel stronghold of Homs, where a rocket attack last week on a makeshift media centre also killed two other journalists.
Attar confirmed that British photographer Paul Conroy was successfully smuggled out of Homs across the border with Lebanon, where the international NGO Avaaz earlier said he was “safe.”
But Attar said “this is not the case for Edith Bouvier” – a French journalist from the daily Le Figaro who was wounded last week in a rocket attack on a makeshift media centre in the Homs rebel stronghold of Baba Amr.
Conroy was also wounded in that attack which killed veteran US reporter Marie Colvin and French photographer Remi Ochlik.
Two other journalists trapped in Homs are William Daniels, a photographer who also was on assignment for Le Figaro, and Spaniard Javier Espinosa who works for the Spanish daily El Mundo.
“It’s a real shame but I have the impression that those inside Baba Amr are not being very clear with us,” he said. — AFP __

North Korea Agrees to Curb Nuclear Work; U.S. Offers Aid

WASHINGTON — North Korea agreed to suspend nuclear weapons tests and uranium enrichment and allow international inspectors to monitor activities at its main nuclear complex, the North’s official news agency and the State Department announced on Wednesday. The promises could end years of a standoff that has allowed the North’s nuclear program to continue with no international oversight and are part of a deal that included an American pledge to ship food aid to the isolated, impoverished nation.

Although the Obama administration called the steps “important, if limited,” they signaled thatthe country’s new leader, Kim Jong-un, is willing to at least engage with the United States. Administration officials have been watching closely to see if he would resort to military provocations to establish his reputation following the death of his father, Kim Jong-il, late last year.

North Korea also agreed on a moratorium on launchings of long-range missiles, which have in the past raised military tensions with South Korea and Japan.

North Korea has agreed in the past to halt its nuclear program only to back out, demanding more concessions or accusing the United States of reneging on its obligations. And the statement Tuesday from the North’s official Korean Central News Agency appeared to give the country’s leaders wiggle room again this time, saying that Pyongyang would carry out the agreement “as long as talks proceed fruitfully.”

Still, North Korea’s agreement to allow inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency to return to the country appeared to be a significant concession. After years of negotiations, North Korea expelled inspectors and went on to test nuclear devices in 2006 and 2009. American intelligence officials believe the country has enough fuel already for six to eight weapons.

If the North lives up to its agreement to stop uranium enrichment, it could help ease some anxieties in Washington over the program at a time when the administration, in an election year, is consumed with halting Iran’s nuclear program before Israel decides to stage an attack.

For the relatively young and inexperienced Mr. Kim, the agreement could be crucial to solidifying his hold on power and the backing of the powerful military, analysts in South Korea said. He needs to show in the early months of his rule that he is improving people’s lives after years of food shortages and a devastating famine. Bringing in 240,000 metric tons of food aid from the United States will surely help.

The timing is also important for Mr. Kim, analysts said, because his father had declared this would be a breakout year for North Korea, when its economy would take off and the country would stage elaborate national celebrations. The celebrations will mark the 100-year anniversary of the birth of Kim Il-sung, the nation’s founder and Kim Jong-un’s grandfather.

Food aid — and better international relations that could lead to economic support — are considered critical for the country’s leaders to be able to stage the celebrations with the lavishness their people have come to expect.

Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking at a House Appropriations Committee hearing, expressed cautious optimism.

“The United States, I will be quick to add, still has profound concerns,” she said. “But on the occasion of Kim Jong-Il’s death, I said that it is our hope that the new leadership will choose to guide their nation onto the path of peace by living up to its obligations. Today’s announcement represents a modest first step in the right direction.”

She added that the United States will be watching closely and judging North Korea’s new leaders by their actions.

Two days of talks in Beijing last week between the United States and North Korea initially appeared to have produced few concrete results. But after the North Korean negotiators returned home, the country’s leaders responded positively to American offers to resume international negotiations — and deliver the food aid — provided the country agreed to the steps announced on Wednesday.

In a statement, the State Department said that in exchange, the United States was “prepared to take steps to improve our bilateral relationship in the spirit of mutual respect for sovereignty and equality” and to allow cultural, educational and sports exchanges with North Korea.

Officially, the Obama administration has refused to link food aid directly to progress in talks, saying that should be decided purely on humanitarian grounds. But American officials said they relented after the North Koreans insisted on the aid being part of any agreement. The State Department’s announcement did not say when the moratorium would begin, when international inspectors would return to North Korea or when the so-called six-party talks would resume between North Korea, South Korea, the United States, China, Russia and Japan.

Wednesday’s agreement only sets a potential stage for restarting the six-nation talks. Much tougher negotiations lie ahead if and when the multilateral talks begin to discuss the terms of permanently ending the north’s nuclear programs.

أن تكون طالبا في المغرب..يعني أن تستأجر غرفة متربة في أحياء شعبية رخيصة..غرفة لا تدخلها الشمس أبدا..وإلا فعليك الزيادة في الثمن كي تتم ترقية غرفتك لتستقبل نور الطبيعة..لا شيء يبقى هو نفسه داخلها..فعليها أن تتكيف مع حاجياتك..لتتحول في نفس الوقت إلى مطبخ صغير يحضر ما يسد رمقك..وإلى غرفة مطالعة تراجع فيها واجباتك وتقرأ فيها كتبك..وإلى صالة استقبال تستقبل فيها أصدقائك..وإلى غرفة نوم تتلذذ فيها بانسدال الليل..فيحدث أحيانا أن تجد في فراشك بقايا أكل..أو يسقط لك المشط في قدر الطعام..أو تنام تحت حبل الغسيل الممتد فوق رأسك..

أن تكون طالبا في المغرب..يعني أن تتمكن بعد جهد جهيد من السكن في حي جامعي ما..فتكتشف أن مدينتك الأصلية هي من تحدد طبيعة سكنك وليس شيء آخر..ويحدث كثيرا أن تجد نفسك مخنوقا مع الطلبة في غرفة صغيرة..في حين ينعم آخرون بسكن مريح بفضل دلع الدولة لهم..ولما تذهب إلى المطعم لسد جوعك..تضطر للانتظار دقائق طويلة لتأكل سمكا فقد من طول فترة تجميده مذاقه..ولحما تعجز المعدة عن ابتلاعه بسبب عدم جودة طهيه..

أن تكون طالبا في المغرب..يعني أن تدرس في جامعات لا يحضرها الأساتذة إلا لماما..وبمقررات دراسية تبعث في نفسك الكسل والنوم عوض الحماس والمثابرة..ويحدث كثيرا أن تكرر السنة لا لشيء سوى أن الأستاذ أخطأ في تذكرك بسبب آلاف الطلبة الذين يدرسون عنده فيعطيك صفرا وأنت حاضر ويعطي الغائب أعلى النقاط..كما يحدث أن ينتقم منك الأستاذ لأنك قلت فكرة لم ترق لإيديولوجيته ولخطه الفكري..

أن تكون طالبا في المغرب..يعني أن تدرس في معاهد تحس فيها أنك تلميذ ولست بطالب..يعاملك الأستاذ بكثير من القمع والترهيب لأنه يدري أنك حريص كل الحرص على نقاء سيرتك كي لا تطردك الإدارة من معهد احتجت أن تسهر الليالي كي تلج إليه..وتجبر على حفظ دروس لا علاقة لها بالعصر الذي تنتمي إليه..وتضطر لطلب الإذن بكثير من الذل حتى لو أردت الذهاب لقضاء حاجياتك البيولوجية..

أن تكون طالبا في المغرب..يعني أن تحرم من الأكل الصحي والمتنوع لأسابيع طويلة..تكتفي بالبيض والطماطم كل ليلة..وفي الصباح تفطر على الشاي والخبز الحافي..يصير ارتياد المطاعم المتوسطة حلم يقظة ونعاس..وحتى شرب فنجان قهوة في مقهى ما قد يكون أمرا مكلفا..ولا عجب أن تجد نفسك بعد انقضاء سنوات الدراسة الجامعية قد أصبت بسوء التغذية..لأنه في المغرب..كي تأكل اللحم والفواكه..عليك أن تكون موظفا بأجر مرتفع وليس طالبا بمنحة هزيلة..

أن تكون طالبا في المغرب..يعني أن تحس بالقهر وأنت ترى شابا في مثل عمرك يركب سيارة فاخرة يجوب بها الشوارع بفضل الملعقة الذهبية التي استعمرت فمه دون أن يدري..لا يترك لك فرصة للهروب منه..فهو يحتل جميع الأماكن التي من المفروض أن تحتلها أنت..فتجده مثلا في مقهى مخصص للطلبة..لأن هذا الفضاء يمثل له فرصة لاقتناص فريسة جامعية تحتاج لبعض الحنان المادي للقضاء على قساوة الأيام..وتجده أمامك عند البقال وأنت تطلب الملح في حين يطلب هو علبة سجائر فاخرة..وتجده أمامك في ساحة انتظار..انت تنتظر الحافلة وهو ينتظر حبيبة ما تشترك معك في نفس الصفة..

أن تكون طالبا في المغرب..يعني أن تنتظر بشغف تلك المنحة الهزيلة التي تتصدق عليك الدولة بها في أواخر كل 3 أشهر..تتزاحم مع إخوانك الطلبة لساعات طويلة..وما إن تدخل جيبك حتى تفكر في القروض التي تنتظر سدادها..والحذاء الذي تلف..والهاتف الذي لم يعبأ..والحبيبة التي تنتظر هدية عيد ميلادها..

أن تكون طالبا في المغرب..يعني أن تركب الحافلة وأنت تفكر في عدم شراء التذكرة بسبب عوزك..وأن تذهب عند الحلاق مرة كل شهر بعدما يتمكن الشعر من رأسك..وأن تفتح الكتاب للدراسة فيسبح عقلك مع مشاكل الغربة والوحدة..

أن تكون طالبا في المغرب..يعني أن تدرس وأنت لا تعرف هل ستصل بدراستك إلى بر الأمان..أم إلى أحضان البطالة..

It was a night of few shocks as hot favourites The Artist, Meryl Streep and Jean Dujardin landed the big three awards at the Oscars.
Silent film The Artist won the best picture, its leading man Dujardin bagged the best actor trophy while it also picked up best costume design and original score.

Meanwhile Streep won her third Oscar - but her first since 1982 - for her role as Margaret Thatcher in The Iron Lady.

Morgan Freeman opened the awards before host Billy Crystal appeared in a spoof showreel based on scenes from nominated films including The Descendants, The Help and The Artist.
Crystal told the audience it was his ninth time hosting the event, joking "so tonight, just call me War Horse".
He then launched into a song based on the films nominated for the best picture Oscar, after joking "Nothing can take the sting out of the world's economic problems like millionaires presenting each other golden statues".
Earlier in the night, stars including Gwyneth Paltrow, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Jessica Chastain and the star of The Artist, Berenice Bejo, greeted fans, signed autographs and posed for photographers outside the Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles.

Tom Hanks presented the first awards of the night for cinematography and art direction to Martin Scorsese's Hugo.
Next up were Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez to present the awards for costume design to The Artist.
They also presented the award for make-up to the team behind The Iron Lady who transformed Meryl Streep into Margaret Thatcher.
J Roy Helland paid tribute to Streep after accepting the award, saying: "Your brilliance makes me look good, no matter what."
The next award, for foreign-language film, was presented by Sandra Bullock to the Iranian film A Separation.
Welsh-born actor Christian Bale handed out the award for supporting actress to Octavia Spencer for The Help.
The tearful actress, who was given a standing ovation, thanked her family in Los Angeles and Alabama before wrapping up, saying "I'm freaking out".
Tina Fey and Bradley Cooper presented the Oscar for film editing to The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo - a remake of the original Swedish crime drama.
The award for sound editing went to Hugo - Scorsese's 3D ode to early cinema - as did the Oscar for sound mixing.
Gwyneth Paltrow joined Robert Downey Junior on stage to present the Oscar for best documentary after a cinema-inspired routine by Cirque du Soleil.
The award went to Undefeated - about an American football team.
Chris Rock gave the award for animated feature film to Rango made by Pirates of the Caribbean director Gore Verbinski.
The award for visual effects was presented by Ben Stiller and Emma Stone to the team who worked on Hugo.
Melissa Leo, who won the supporting actress award last year, gave the supporting actor award to Christopher Plummer for Beginners.
The 82-year-old, the oldest actor ever to win an Oscar, held up his statuette and said: "You're only two years older than me darling, where have you been all my life?"
He paid tribute to his co-star Ewan McGregor whom he said he would "happily share this award with, if I had any decency, but I don't".

The award for documentary (short subject) went to Saving Face - about a London-based plastic surgeon who treats Pakistani women maimed in acid attacks.
The Oscar for animated short film went to The Fantastic Flying Books Of Mr Morris Lessmore.
Fatal Attraction star Michael Douglas gave the award for Best Director to Michel Hazanavicius for The Artist.
He said: "I forgot my speech. I am the happiest director in the world right now."
He thanked the stars of the film including Uggie the Dog, adding: "I think he doesn't care, I'm not sure he understands me."

Mission Impossible star Tom Cruise presented the best picture Oscar to The Artist - the first silent film to win in decades.
Producer Thomas Langmann accepted the award as he was joined on stage by the cast and crew including Uggie the dog.
Hazanavicius paid tribute to his wife, Bejo, saying: "You inspired the movie, you're the soul of the movie and the positive feeling of the movie" before going on to pay tribute to Hollywood legend Billy Wilder.

لندن ـ كعادتها كل سبت، توجهت صباح السبت 25 شباط (فبراير) 2012 ملكة البوب مادونا إلى مركز طائفة الكابالا اليهودية في نيويورك (معبد) برفقة صديقها الجزائري إبراهيم زيبات، حيث ارتدى الاثنان قمصانًا متشابهة، في إشارة إلى علاقتهما القوية.
ورغم كونه مسلمًا، إلا أن زيبات يواظب على حضور المراسم الأسبوعية للطائفة إلى جانب حبيبته التي تكبره بنحو 28 عامًا، وفق ما توضح عدسات مصوري الباباراتزي التي تلاحقها كل أسبوع في الموعد نفسه.

وتحضّر مادونا (53 عامًا) لإطلاق جولتها الفنية العالمية في 29 أيار (مايو)، التي ستبدأ أولى حفلاتها في مدينة تل أبيب. ولم يعرف ما إذا كان زيبات (24 عامًا) سيحضر معها الحفلة الأولى ويتوجه إلى "إسرائيل"، وفق ما نشرت صحيفة "دايلي مايل".

وكان زيبات صرح لمجلة فرنسية مؤخرًا قائلاً: "إنها امرأة كبقية النساء، هي فنانة خارقة ومشهورة عالميًا، لكنها امرأة فوق كل هذا".

وقال مصدر مقرب من الفنانة إنها وقعت في حب زيبات بقوة، إذ تفخر به ولا تجد سببًا لإخفاء علاقتها به. وأضاف المصدر أن مادونا تشعر بأحاسيس مع زيبات لم تشعر بها منذ انقضاء عشرينيتها.

وأوضح نقلاً عن ملكة البوب استغرابها من سرعة وقوة تواصل زيبات مع أولادها الثلاثة. وأردف قائلاً: "زيبات لا يعامل مادونا بطريقة مميزة لأنها فنانة مشهورة، فهو لا تهمه شهرتها، ويعاملها كأنها امرأة وليس شخصية عالمية".

ونقل عن مادونا قولها إن زيبات "إنسان التقت به في عالم آخر، وإن كل شيء بينهما ناجح".

فرنسا تحظر رسميا استخدام كلمة "مدموزيل" في الوثائق الحكومية

باريس ـ (د ب أ)- قالت متحدثة باسم الحكومة الفرنسية إن رئيس الوزراء الفرنسي فرانسوا فيون وجه بعدم كتابة كلمة /مدموزيل/ "آنسة" في الوثائق الحكومية، وهو ما اعتبر انتصارا للحركة النسائية.
وكان توجيه السؤال "سيدة أم آنسة؟"سؤالا بحمل أكثر من معنى في فرنسا، حيث كان يستخدمه الرجال لمعرفة ما إذا كانت المرأة "متاحة" أم لا كما تستخدمه الإدارات الحكومية والمصارف والشركات الخاصة التي لا تزال تجبر النساء على تصنيف أنفسهن إما "عازبة" أو "متزوجة".

جدير بالذكر أن هذا النوع من التمييز بين النساء لم يعد موجودا في عدد من الدول الغربية.

مهرجان موازين في القدس العربي

هل قال ابن كيران 'لن تغني نانسي عجرم وماريا كاري إلا على جثتي'؟

في خطوة أشبه ما تكون بـ'الضربة الاستباقية'، أعلنت إدارة مهرجان 'موازين' الغنائي الدولي عن بعض نجوم الدورة المقبلة من هذا المهرجان الذي يقام عادة خلال النصف الثاني من أيار (مايو)، ومن بين تلك النجوم واحدة من الشرق وأخرى من الغرب، وبينهما قواسم مشتركة لا تخطئها عيون الفضوليين.

أما النجمة الشرقية فهي تلك التي قال عنها وزير الثقافة والمحافظة على التراث التونسي المهدي مبروك: 'لن تشارك في مهرجان قرطاج إلا على جثتي'. وأما التي ستأتي من الغرب فهي تلك التي فضحت وثائق 'ويكيليكس' علاقتها مع عائلة القذافي، وخاصة مع ابنه سيف الإسلام الذي كان قد دفع مليون دولار لسماع أربع أغنياتها.
في 'موازين'، ستتقاضى نانسي عجرم 90 ألف دولار أمريكي، بينما ستضع ماريا كاري في حقيبتها 830 ألف دولار، والنجمتان معا ستحملان معهما النقود 'كاش'، قبل أن تستقلا الطائرة، كل واحدة منهما لوجهتها المفضلة، دون أن تدفع أي منهما ولو درهما واحدا كضريبة في ميزانية المغرب!
وصفنا هذه الخطوة بـ'الضربة الاستباقية'، لأن إدارة المهرجان تريد أن تضع حكومة الإسلاميين المغاربة (المُطعَّمة ببعض المحافظين والشيوعيين القُدامى) أمام الأمر الواقع؛ خاصة وأن هذه الحكومة ما زالت في بداية عهدها.
كان الله في عون عبد الإله ابن كيران وإخوانه وزراء العدالة والتنمية، إنهم يواجهون أول اختبار لجس النبض؛ كأن الجميع يقول لهم: لسنوات عديدة وأنتم تصرخون في البرلمان وفي مهرجاناتكم الخطابية وفي صحفكم، معلنين ـ من موقع المعارضة ـ رفضكم لنوعية المطربين الذين يستضيفهم 'موازين' (خاصة من الغرب والشرق)، فماذا أنتم فاعلون اليوم وقد آلت إليكم مقاليد الحكومة، بفعل تأثير الربيع العربي المبارك، وهو نفسه بفعل المشيئة الربانية؟
الأرجح أنهم يعيشون إحراجا كبيرا، لاسيما وأن هذا المهرجان يقف وراءه أحد المقربين من الدوائر العليا. ولكن، ماذا يضير حكومة ابن كيران أن تقول (باراكا) (أي كفى) لهذا الإصرار على تكريس سياسة الأمر الواقع من خلال 'موازين'؟ خصوصا وأن هذه الحكومة لن تجد نفسها وحيدة في إشهار ورقة 'باراكا' إزاء تظاهرة تستنزف من الأموال الشيء الكثير خلال بضعة أيام، دون فائدة تُذكر؛ والدليل على ذلك أن الاحتجاجات التي رافقت دورة العام الماضي شهدت مشاركة فئات عديدة من المواطنين، ولم تثنهم هراوات 'المخزن' عن رفع أصواتهم أمام بعض المنصات المنصوبة في الأماكن العمومية.
يقول المدافعون عن 'موازين' إن تمويله يتأتى من مؤسسات خاصة، وليس من المال العمومي. ولكن المتأمل في الجهات الداعمة للمهرجان، يلاحظ وجود إدارات عمومية متعددة ومؤسسات اقتصادية كبرى تابعة للدولة، وليس فقط مؤسسات خاصة. وحتى إذا افترضنا وجود هذه المؤسسات الخاصة لوحدها (وهو غير صحيح)، فلماذا تفيض بكرمها الحاتمي على 'موازين'، وتضنّ على مهرجانات أخرى تقام في العديد من بقاع البلاد؟ لماذا لا تكون مؤسسات 'مُواطِنة' قولا وفعلا، فتدعم مهرجانات أخرى تحتفي بالفن والتراث المغربيين؟
وإذا كان تمويل مهرجان 'موازين' من مؤسسات خاصة، فالمفروض ألا يحظى بدعاية مجانية مكثفة عبر القنوات التلفزيونية والإذاعات العمومية على امتداد عدة شهور.
لنتصور الحكومة التي جاءت نتيجة صناديق الاقتراع، تعترض على عدم تخصيص أي حيز دعائي للمهرجان المذكور في القنوات التلفزيونية المغربية (وهي كلها قنوات عمومية لحد اليوم)، فأكيد أن هذه التظاهرة ستبدو في حجمها الحقيقي. أي أن الهالة التي تحيط بهذا المهرجان راجعة بنسبة كبيرة إلى الدعاية الإعلامية التي تخصص لها في قنوات وإذاعات القطب العمومي.
المعترضون على 'موازين' ـ وعبد ربه واحد منهم ـ لا يعترضون على المهرجان في حد ذاته، وإنما يعترضون على أمرين اثنين:
ـ أولا، على هذا الدلع والدلال الذي يُحاط به من كل حدب وصوب (مع أنه من تنظيم جمعية يُفترض التعامل معها كباقي الجمعيات وفق منطق تكافؤ الفرص، ومع أن تمويله كما يُشاع خاصٌّ مائة بالمائة)، حتى أن العديد من المسؤولين يعيشون حالة استنفار خلال الاستعداد لتنظيمه وكذا أثناء حفلاته التي تقام في الفضاءات العمومية، والتي تتزامن كل عام مع استعداد طلبة المؤسسات التعليمية لامتحانات نهاية الموسم الدراسي.
ـ وثانيا، لكونه يروّج لنوع من الثقافة والفن، قائم غالباً على الإسفاف والابتذال وتمييع الذوق العام والقيم الأصيلة للمغاربة؛ ولم نستغرب، والحالة هذه، استدعاء فرقة فنية اسبانية تعرّى أفرادها أمام جمهور منصة 'الأوداية' في إحدى الدورات، كما لم نستغرب استدعاء (فنان) غربي يفتخر بشذوذه. إن البرمجة الأساسية للمهرجان ترتكز على نجوم الإثارة، أما بعض الأسماء الفنية المحترمة القادمة من الشرق أو الغرب وحتى بعض الأسماء المغربية، فالظاهر أن المنظمين يُبرمجونها بهدف ذر الرماد في العيون ليس إلا.
من حق حكومة ابن كيران، التي وضع فيها الشعب المغربي ثقته، بل ومن واجبها أيضا، أن تكون منسجمة مع اختياراتها من جهة، ومع متطلبات هذا الشعب من جهة ثانية. لقد صوّت غالبية المغاربة على حزب العدالة والتنمية، لأنهم رأوا فيه مدافعا عن هويتهم وقيمهم ومرجعياتهم الأصيلة. والمفروض في مهرجان مثل 'موازين' أن يستحضر هذا المعطى؛ أي أن يكون متمثلا، في برنامجه العام، للهوية المغربية في أبعادها العربية والأمازيغية والصحراوية والمغاربية.
أما إذا كان منظمو مهرجان 'موازين' مصرّين على عدم التنازل عن اختياراتهم الثقافية والفنية الخاصة، وبما أنهم يتوفرون على الأموال ما يكفي لاستدعاء من يشاؤون من النجوم، فلماذا لا يقيمون حفلاتهم في فضاءات خاصة، وإذ ذاك ليضعوا الثمن الذي يريدونه لتذاكر السهرات؟ فالمتفرج سيكون هو الذي سيختار نوع الفن الذي يريده ويبذل من أجله الغالي والنفيس؛ عوض أن يُفرَض ذلك الفن على الناس في الساحات العمومية الموجودة وسط الأحياء، حيث لا خيار للسكان سوى رفع أكفهم وقراءة اللطيف، جرّاء ضجيج السهرات التي تُفسد عليهم راحتهم ونومهم واستعداد أبنائهم للامتحانات!

أقسى درجات العزلة!

بعيداً عن 'موازين' وصخبه، وبعيداً عن نجومه وملاييره، ثمة مغرب آخر أطلق عليه المستعمر الفرنسي لقب 'المغرب غير النافع'. في أعالي جبال الأطلس الكبير، هناك بشر مثلنا، مواطنون مثلنا، يقال إنهم هم أيضا مغاربة... لا تهمهم لا نانسي عجرم ولا ماريا كاري ولا إلتون جون ولا إليسا، (الهمْ اللّي فيهم يكفيهم) كما يقول التعبير الدارج... يعيشون، في هذه اللحظة التي أكتب فيها هذا المقال، بل منذ عدة أسابيع، أقسى درجات العزلة. شيء من قساوة الطبيعة نعم؛ ولكن أيضا شيء من قساوة الحكومات المتعاقبة منذ فجر الاستقلال.
هذه الأيام، يصور التلفزيون بعضا من معاناتهم، برد وثلج وحصار وأمراض مختلفة، ونساء حبلى يعانين الأمرين وقد يَمُتْنَ قبل الوضع. صحيح أن هناك مساعدات عاجلة تُرسل إليهم عبر الطائرات المروحية غالباً: أغطية وتغذية وأدوية وهلم جرا؛ ولكن هذا لا يكفي، إنهم يريدون تطبيق المثل الصيني: 'لا تُعطه سمكة، وإنما علّمْه كيف يصطاد السمك!'. يريدون أساساً: طُرقاً تفك عنهم العزلة، ومراكز صحية قريبة منهم، ومدارس لأبنائهم، يريدون وسائل وأدوات تساعدهم على ممارسة مهنهم وعيش حياتهم البسيطة... يريدون أن يُنظَر إليهم باعتبارهم بشراً ومواطنين لهم كرامة وحقوق وينتمون إلى مغرب واحد لا إلى مغرب آخر، أطلق عليه الفرنسيون اسم المغرب غير النافع وخجلوا ربما من تسميته (no mans land) أي الأرض الخلاء... أما الطبيعة القاسية فهم قادرون على التأقلم معها.

KABUL, Afghanistan — Two suicide attackers detonated a car bomb at the entrance to a NATO air base in eastern Afghanistan on Monday, killing at least nine Afghans, officials said.

The explosion occurred at about 6:15 a.m. on Monday as workers arrived for their jobs at the Jalalabad Air Base. Witnesses described seeing damaged cars outside the base and said the area had been sealed off as helicopters flew overhead. It was the latest attack on a coalition installation since unrest erupted over the burning of several Korans last week at Bagram, the largest American air base in Afghanistan.

Among the dead on Monday were one member of the Afghan security forces, six civilians and two private security guards, said Ebadullah Talwar, chief of security for Nangahar Province.

The blast wounded four NATO personnel but initial reports indicated that no NATO service members had been killed, NATO spokesmen said, adding that the base had not been breached.

The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing as revenge for the burning of the Korans, according to wire service reports.

Sabawoon Hotak, one of the NATO spokesmen, said two suicide attackers had been driving a car near the gate to the base when the car exploded.

The attack occurred a day after a grenade thrown by Afghan protesters during a sixth day of virulent demonstrations wounded at least six American service members at a base in northern Afghanistan and as the nationwide manhunt continued for the chief suspect in the shooting of two American military officers working in the Interior Ministry on Saturday.

President Hamid Karzai called for calm during a televised news conference on Sunday, his first since the burning of the Korans. It was a time for self-restraint, he said, “so that it does not provide an opportunity for the enemy to take advantage.”

There appeared to be fewer demonstrations around the country on Monday. But the killings and NATO’s decision to withdraw its advisers from all Afghan ministries in the wake of the killing of the two Americans has created a new air of unease here and underscored the new challenges to the relationship between Afghanistan and the United States, with no clear path toward the restoration of mutual trust.

The pullout of advisers cast doubt on one of the most critical parts of the international mission in Afghanistan: the close mentoring and training of the Afghan security forces who would take over responsibility for securing the country and fighting the Taliban after the United States pulls its combat troops out of the country.

Paul Lamoitier, conseiller régional FN dans le Nord-Pas-de-Calais et patron d'une des plus grandes sociétés de viande halal dans la région, a quitté mercredi le Front national. Selon Bruno Bilde, directeur de la communication de la campagne de Marine Le Pen, lui-même conseiller régional dans le Nord-Pas-de-Calais, il n'était «plus dans la ligne du Front national.

Nous souhaitions qu'il démissionne et sommes satisfaits de sa démission». Bruno Bilde a précisé que son remplacement ou non par un autre membre du FN au conseil régional dépendrait de la décision de Paul Lamoitier de rester ou non dans cette institution.

Jean-François Copé avait estimé mercredi sur France 2 que la candidate du Front national à la présidentielle devrait «sanctionner durement l'important grossiste de viande halal» qu'elle comptait parmi ses «très proches». «Il y a quelque chose d'énorme.» «C'est bien qu'on le sache», avait déclaré le secrétaire général de l'UMP. Dans le livre «Derrière les lignes du Front», de Jean-Baptiste Malet, paru à l'automne 2011, Paul Lamoitier, 75 ans, était présenté comme l'un des principaux professionnels du commerce de viande halal dans le Nord-Pas-de-Calais.

Une plainte du FN à l'étude au parquet de Nanterre

Marine Le Pen avait lancé la polémique samedi en affirmant que «l'ensemble de la viande qui est distribuée en Ile-de-France, à l'insu du consommateur, est exclusivement de la viande halal». Elle avait précisé son propos mardi sur France Inter : «100% de la viande abattue en Ile-de-France est halal et 100% de la viande distribuée est suspecte, puisque je ne sais pas, ni vous, laquelle est halal et laquelle ne l'est pas».

La présidente du FN avait annoncé son intention de lancer une procédure vis-à-vis d'enseignes de la grande distribution pour «tromperie sur la marchandise.» Une plainte, visant des faits de tromperie et d'actes de cruauté envers des animaux domestiques, a bien été déposée jeudi par le Front national et était vendredi «à l'étude» au parquet de Nanterre, selon une source judiciaire.

Jeudi, l'avocat Wallerand de Saint Just, porte-parole de la candidate du FN à la présidentielle, avait précisé que cette plainte était déposée «à la requête de deux associations, l'une de protection des consommateurs, l'autre de défense des animaux, pour l'infraction de tromperie sur les qualités substantielles des marchandises vendues et pour l'infraction d'actes de cruauté envers des animaux domestiques».

La deslabazada oposición siria, cuyo principal grupo es el Consejo Nacional Sirio (CNS), tiene claro lo que pretende obtener de los países que respaldan a los rebeldes en su lucha contra el régimen de Bachar el Asad. En un comunicado difundido después del mediodía en Túnez, donde los países occidentales y muchos Estados árabes debaten cómo respaldar a la oposición, el CNS reclama que les proporcionen armas. "Si el régimen no acepta la iniciativa de la Liga Árabe [que prevé el abandono del poder por parte de El Asad y el inicio de una transición democrática] y no pone fin a la violencia contra los ciudadanos, los países Amigos de Siria no deberían impedir que países a título individual ayuden a la oposición siria mediante asesores militares, con entrenamiento y con provisión de armas para que puedan defenderse".

La situación en la provincia de Homs cada día es más crítica. Tanto que Rusia -que se opuso en el Consejo de Seguridad a apoyar sanciones contra el régimen de El Asad- ha pedido hoy con urgencia un alto el fuego para prestar ayuda humanitaria a la población de Homs, que sufre desde hace más de dos semanas intensos bombardeos de las fuerzas leales al régimen. Activistas han dicho que 20 personas han muerto hoy en todo el país, sumándose a los miles de civiles que ya han caído desde que comenzó la revuelta en marzo del año pasado.
Desde Túnez, el ministro de Exteriores francés, Alain Juppé, ha llamado al Gobierno sirio a que autorice la salida de la periodista Edith Bouvier, herida durante los ataques que esta semana se cobraron la vida de los prestigiosos corresponsales de guerra Marie Colvin y Rémi Ochlik. Juppé ha dejado en claro la posición de Francia: el Consejo Nacional Sirio es el único interlocutor legítimo con la comunidad internacional, aunque aún no ha sido reconocido como tal, formalmente.

Armar a los rebeldes

Miembros del CNS admiten que las armas ya están llegando a la oposición. "La militarización ya ha comenzado y estamos preocupados por este asunto. Si los sirios pierden la esperanza en Naciones Unidas y la Liga Árabe, será un asunto peligroso. Si Siria se hunde en una guerra civil, ello arrastrará a sus vecinos", declaró Abdel Baset Sieda.
Otro miembro del Consejo Nacional, que ha hablado bajo condición de anonimato, ha señalado que los países occidentales hacen la vista gorda sobre un tráfico de armas hacia los alzados que ya se está produciendo. Armas ligeras, equipos de comunicaciones y de visión nocturna son pertrechos que ya se están suministrando, según este dirigente de la oposición. "Estamos trayendo armas defensivas y ofensivas. Vienen de todas partes, incluidos países occidentales, y no es difícil introducirlas a través de las fronteras", agregó el miembro del CNS. "Ningún país", concluyó, "ha decidido armar a los rebeldes, pero esos países están permitiendo a sirios que compren armas y las envíen a su país". Ahora necesitan también, aseguran en el CNS, armas antiaéreas y antitanque.

A estas alturas del conflicto, casi un año después de que la rebelión estallara en Deraa, en la frontera con Jordania, pocos creen que pueda haber una solución negociada que facilite una transición pacífica. Por el contrario, fuentes diplomáticas citadas por la cadena CNN confirmaban lo dicho por los citados miembros del CNS. Aseguran que varios países árabes están ya suministrando armamento a los opositores al régimen.
Hillary Clinton, secretaria de Estado de Estados Unidos, ya anticipaba la víspera en Londres que los grupos de oposición "hallarán fuentes" para armarse. "Habrá fuerzas opositoras cada vez con más capacidad", dijo Clinton. "De algún sitio, de alguna manera", continuó, "encontrarán los medios para defenderse y también para iniciar acciones ofensivas. Está claro que va llegar un punto crítico. Espero que sea más pronto que tarde, para que se puedan salvar más vidas, pero no tengo absolutamente ninguna duda de que se va a dar ese momento crítico".
En Libia ya se siguió un patrón similar. Los rebeldes fueron armados clandestinamente, sobre todo por Catar, y la misión de protección a los civiles que estableció Naciones Unidas derivó en una campaña militar que acabó por derrocar al dictador Muamar el Gadafi. Ahmet Davutoglu, ministro de Exteriores de Turquía, país clave en este conflicto, ha comentado recientemente que más allá de la ayuda humanitaria y de las soluciones diplomáticas, se debe pensar "también en otras contingencias". Varias voces, entre ellas el senador estadounidense John McCain, han reclamado ya desde EE UU que se arme a la rebelión para que pueda defenderse en lo que ya es una guerra civil abierta.

Amigos de Siria

La reunión de los países Amigos de Siria, que ha comenzado esta mañana en Túnez, tiene como objetivo inmediato aumentar la presión en la campaña contra el Gobierno de Damasco. Se trata de que el régimen permita en el plazo de 48 horas el acceso de la ayuda necesaria en varias ciudades bajo asedio de las tropas leales al autócrata, según un borrador de declaración que negocian los diplomáticos de 70 países y organismos internacionales, entre los que no se encuentran ni Rusia -ya se sabía que no asistiría- ni China, dos miembros permanentes del Consejo de Seguridad que vetaron la última resolución de condena del régimen.
El borrador insta el Gobierno sirio a detener "inmediatamente" toda violencia y a "parar el asalto a las zonas civiles y permitir el acceso de la ayuda. En Homs, Deraa, Zabadani, Idlib y otras ciudades el Ejército y sus milicias han recrudecido sus ataques en las últimas semanas. No parece, de momento, que el régimen vaya a dar marcha atrás. Así que el borrador ya prevé el siguiente paso: se compromete este grupo de países a establecer sanciones que incluye la prohibición de viajar a prominentes miembros del Gobierno, la congelación de activos en el extranjero, la prohibición de comprar petróleo sirio, de invertir en proyectos de infraestructura en Siria y de prestar servicios financieros. Además, se prevé reducir relaciones diplomáticas y un plan para impedir que cargamentos de armas lleguen a Siria.
Rusia y China se resisten a ejecutar cualquier acción militar en Siria, apuestan por la introducción de reformas internas y apoyan el referéndum constitucional previsto para el próximo 26 de febrero al que seguirán unas elecciones legislativas cuyo resultado es demasiado previsible. Ambas potencias argumentan defender intereses nacionales para justificar su veto en el Consejo de Seguridad.
Pero mientras la gente sigue muriendo en Siria. Al menos 100 personas fallecieron ayer jueves, según la oposición. Ayer se conocía el segundo informe de la comisión de la ONU que investiga la represión en el país y donde se acusa a ambos lados, fuerzas leales al régimen y grupos opositores, de crímenes de guerra. El informe no pone al mismo nivel a ambos bandos. Los tres expertos señalan que miembros Ejército Libre Sirio (ELS) han torturado y ejecutado a presuntos miembros de la shabiha —matones del régimen— pero puntualizan que la magnitud de sus crímenes “no es comparable” con los de El Asad.
Los investigadores han reiterado que los graves abusos perpetrados por los leales a El Asad responden a “una política de Estado” que se origina “en las instancias más altas de las fuerzas armadas y del Gobierno”. El estudio se basa en entrevistas personales y cifra en 787 los civiles muertos en las primeras dos semanas de febrero, la mayoría en Homs. Desde que comenzó la revuelta, 8.500 personas han muerto, otras 70.000 han sido desplazadas dentro del país y 20.000 se han refugiado en el extranjero.

Israel, the US and Iran who is threatening whom?

The US has advised Israel not to conduct "now" an air strike on Iran's nuclear facilities . Russia , too , has cautioned it that such an action may have devastating consequences over all the whole region . But the Israel 's patience , if not mind , is wearing thin ; its responsibles are refusing the world's advices and calls for not commiting such a foolish gaffe.

Here , we may just make a stop and focus on words like "advice" and "call" . This is all what the whole world , notably the super powers , could say to Israel on its threatening to attack Iran . No state has yet dared to fulminate the Israeli's statements and loudly declarations to offence a country tha has not declared war on it or on any other country in this world . As if Israel has the right and the green light to make a mess wherever and whenever it want in the world without being questioned or condemned .

It seems as if Israel is over the law , or let say out of the international laws and norms ; recently its goverment has approved the building of 500 illigitimate colonies in the west bank , against all the international agreements on the issue of the peace talks , igniting so tensions in in the region .

So , who is threatening whom ? Iran which is seeking to acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes under tight international control ? Or Israel which already owns nuclear bombs and always brandishing its eagerness to strike Iran and set the whole middle east on fire ? And what if Iran is willing to reinforce its arsenal and defences to abort such strikes and repeal such menaces ? And what about many other countries that own lethal weapons , or those that are presumably no more than a couple of years away from being able to produce nuclear weapons , like Japon ,Sweden , Argentina , Brazil and South korea ?

                               Israel is marketing the propaganda that the possibility of an Iranian nuclear weapon is thretening its very existence ; and the Americans , notably the republican presidential condidates , are keeping up a competition in thretening Iran and portraying themselves as the protectors of " the vulnerable " Israel . By doing this , Israel is trying to redirect the international attention from all what is daily inflicting on Palestinians to be seen as a victim and not as a tormentor .And   as regards the Americans , as it is always the case ,they are keeping on considering the middle east and its problems as a playing card in the competition of the presidential elections .


                               Neihter Israel nor the US are prepared to accept Iran as a holding sensitive nuclear technology state , nor are they willing to have bilateral agreement with it , that will promise mutual noninterference in internal affairs and end the whole conflict , for they are aspiring to change the regime in Iran which is plainly harming no one on adopting islamic  doctrines , and speaking out for the right of Palestinians to get back their own rights and have their own country .

Two Western Journalists Killed in Syria Shelling

CAIRO — Two Western journalists, one American and one French, were killed early Wednesday as forces loyal to President Bashar al-Assad pursued a deadly bombardment of the central city of Homs, according to activists and officials.

Valérie Pécresse, the French government spokeswoman, identified the dead as Marie Colvin, an American reporter working for The Sunday Times of London, and Rémi Ochlik, a French photographer.

The deaths were reported less than a week after Anthony Shadid, a correspondent for The New York Times, died of an apparent asthma attack on his way back to Turkey last Thursday after spending nearly a week reporting covertly inside Syria.

Video footage posted online showed what appeared to be two bodies lying face down in rubble inside a building identified in news reports as a makeshift media center in a beleaguered neighborhood of Homs, where rebels have been under sustained fire for almost three weeks. Three other Western journalists were injured in the attack, activists said.

One of them was identified in French media reports as Edith Bouvier, a 31-year-old woman freelancing for the daily newspaper, Le Figaro, which said she had been wounded in the legs. Video footage on YouTube showed her and Paul Conroy, a British freelance photographer working for The Sunday Times, both lying in what appeared to be a makeshift clinic with bandages on their legs.

The newspaper said initial reports suggested that Mr. Conroy was not seriously hurt.

According to his Web site, Mr. Ochlik, in his late twenties, had covered wars and upheaval in Haiti, Congo and the Middle East. Ms. Colvin, 55, was a veteran of many conflicts from the Middle East to Chechnya and from the Balkans to Iraq and Sri Lanka, where she lost an eye covering a civil war. She wore a distinctive black eyepatch. Both had won awards for their work.

Jon Snow, an anchor for Britain’s Channel 4 News, which interviewed Ms. Colvin from Homs on Tuesday evening, called her “the most courageous journalist I ever knew and a wonderful reporter and writer.”

She was also interviewed by the BBC, recounting how she had watched a two-year-old child die in Homs. “ I watched a little baby die today. Absolutely horrific, just a two-year-old,” she said.

In an article published on Feb. 19 in The Sunday Times, Ms. Colvin described with how she entered Homs “on a smugglers’ route, which I promised not to reveal, climbing over walls in the dark and slipping into muddy trenches. Arriving in the darkened city in the early hours, I was met by a welcoming party keen for foreign journalists to reveal the city’s plight to the world. So desperate were they that they bundled me into an open truck and drove at speed with the headlights on, everyone standing in the back shouting Allahu akbar — God is the greatest. Inevitably, the Syrian army opened fire.

“When everyone had calmed down I was driven in a small car, its lights off, along dark empty streets, the danger palpable. As we passed an open stretch of road, a Syrian army unit fired on the car again with machine guns and launched a rocket-propelled grenade,” Ms. Colvin wrote.

“The scale of human tragedy in the city is immense. The inhabitants are living in terror. Almost every family seems to have suffered the death or injury of a loved one,” she wrote.

Quoting a witness reached from neighboring Jordan, Reuters said the two journalists died when shells hit the house in which they were staying and a rocket hit them when they were escaping.

An activist who spoke in return for anonymity for fear of government reprisals said an apartment being used as a media center with satellite uplink facilities had taken a direct hit and activists had been unable to reach it to retrieve the bodies because of continued shelling.

The killings were reported as intense international lobbying for and against Mr. Assad continued on Tuesday over the nearly yearlong crackdown that has proved the most violent of the so-called Arab Spring and one of the most perilous for journalists trying to cover it.

The Syrian authorities do not routinely grant visas for reporters to enter the country and seek to control those who are given rare permission to do so. Unlike other violent uprisings in Libya or Yemen, those controls have combined to make the Syrian revolt difficult to observe first-hand and those reporters that do so run great risks of being caught in fighting, often in isolated pockets of rebel resistance. Previous fatalities include a freelance cameraman, Ferzat Jarban, who was found dead in early November. Another freelance cameraman, Basil al-Sayed, died at the end of December. A French television reporter, Gilles Jacquier, died in January during a government-sponsored trip to Homs. Mazhar Tayyara, a freelance reporter for Agence France-Presse, The Guardian and other publications, died in Homs in early February.

In addition to reporters from traditional media, the conflict throughout the Arab world has drawn in a generation of citizen journalists using cell phones, blogs and social media sites to spread word of their plight.

The deaths of the Western journalists reported on Wednesday followed by one day the death of Rami el Sayed, a well-known videoblogger in the Sunni Arab neighborhood of Baba Amr. Other citizen journalists in Homs have been killed recently in what activists interpret as part of a deliberate campaign to choke off news of the opposition.

“It’s too much of a coincidence,” said a Syrian activist in Cairo who has followed events closely. “There are reports of planes flying around and they may be looking for the satellite uplinks.”

Ms. Colvin left Beirut for Syria on Feb. 14, according to a colleague she dined with before her departure. Over dinner, she said: “I cannot remember any story where the security situation was potentially this bad, except maybe Chechnya.”

“Before I was apprehensive, but now I’m restless,” the colleague recalled her saying, once details of her journey had been finalized. “I just want to get in there and get it over with and get out.”

Ms. Colvin was raised on Long Island but had been based in England for many years. In a speech in 2010, Britain’s Press Association news agency reported, she spoke of the work of combat reporters, saying “our mission is to report these horrors of war with accuracy and without prejudice.”

“We always have to ask ourselves whether the level of risk is worth the story. What is bravery, and what is bravado?”

She added: “Journalists covering combat shoulder great responsibilities and face difficult choices. Sometimes they pay the ultimate price.”

Prime Minister David Cameron of Britain paid tribute to her on Wednesday, saying her death was a reminder of the perils facing reporters covering “dreadful events” in Syria. President Nicolas Sarkozy of France said the killings showed that “enough is enough, this regime must go. There is no reason why Syrians should not have the right to live their lives, to freely choose their destiny.”

Rupert Murdoch,the owner of the Sunday Times, described Ms. Colvin as “one of the most outstanding foreign correspondents of her generation.”

In an email to his staff, Mr. Murdoch, the head of News Corporation, said Ms. Colvin “was a victim of a shell attack by the Syrian army on a building that had been turned into an impromptu press center by the rebels. Our photographer, Paul Conroy, was with her and is believed to have been injured. We are doing all we can in the face of shelling and sniper fire to get him to safety and to recover Marie’s body.”

The French Foreign Minister, Alain Juppé also said in a statement that he had called on the Syrian government to order an immediate halt to the attacks on Homs and to respect its "humanitarian obligations." He also said he was asking the French ambassador in Damascus to urge the Syrian authorities to open a secure access route into Homs to help victims of the bombardment with the support of the Red Cross.

Homs has been an epicenter of the fighting in recent weeks, but government assaults were also reported on Tuesday in the Idlib area in the north and elsewhere. The day’s toll, as compiled by various groups that try to track the violence from inside and outside the country, ranged from the dozens upward.

At the same time, the faction of the opposition that is armed has claimed several more lives, according to the Syrian government, whose news agency reported the funerals of three soldiers killed in or near Damascus and in the central city of Hama.

The assault on Homs appeared to be a continuation of a government attack that began Feb. 4, after China and Russia vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution condemning the violence and backing an Arab League plan for Mr. Assad to step aside. (Last week, in the strongest international rebuke to date, the General Assembly voted overwhelmingly to pass the same resolution in nonbinding form.)

A new group based in Cairo, the Activist News Association, has been collecting information from a network of “citizen journalist” contacts inside of Syria. Rami Jarrah, a Syrian activist who helped create the group, said that Syrian government and ground forces were massing outside of Homs. “Active resistance has long since stopped, but the government is using the excuse of ‘armed resistance,’ in quotes, to continue this bombardment,” Mr. Jarrah said. “They’re killing the democratic movement.”

Based on photographs of victims sent from inside Syria, he said, at least 79 deaths took place around the country on Tuesday, 46 of them in Homs, where shelling of Baba Amr was particularly heavy, and 33 in Idlib. That toll was likely to rise, he said.

Another exile activist group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, reported that in the northern city of Aleppo, unknown gunmen shot and killed Mohammad Ramadan, a businessman who supported the government. It also reported scattered protests and skirmishing in the capital, Damascus, where a group of youths raised an opposition flag at the Jaawzeh Bridge at the southern entrance of the capital.

Iran Raid Seen as a Huge Task for Israeli Jets

WASHINGTON — Should Israel decide to launch a strike on Iran, its pilots would have to fly more than 1,000 miles across unfriendly airspace, refuel in the air en route, fight off Iran’s air defenses, attack multiple underground sites simultaneously — and use at least 100 planes.

That is the assessment of American defense officials and military analysts close to the Pentagon, who say that an Israeli attack meant to set back Iran’s nuclear program would be a huge and highly complex operation. They describe it as far different from Israel’s “surgical” strikes on a nuclear reactor in Syria in 2007 and Iraq’s Osirak reactor in 1981.

“All the pundits who talk about ‘Oh, yeah, bomb Iran,’ it ain’t going to be that easy,” said Lt. Gen. David A. Deptula, who retired last year as the Air Force’s top intelligence official and who planned the American air campaigns in 2001 in Afghanistan and in the 1991 Gulf War.

Speculation that Israel might attack Iran has intensified in recent months as tensions between the countries have escalated. In a sign of rising American concern, Tom Donilon, the national security adviser, met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel in Jerusalem on Sunday, and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Martin E. Dempsey, warned on CNN that an Israeli strike on Iran right now would be “destabilizing.” Similarly, the British foreign secretary, William Hague, told the BBC that attacking Iran would not be “the wise thing” for Israel to do “at this moment.”

But while an Israeli spokesman in Washington, Lior Weintraub, said the country continued to push for tougher sanctions on Iran, he reiterated that Israel, like the United States, “is keeping all options on the table.”

The possible outlines of an Israeli attack have become a source of debate in Washington, where some analysts question whether Israel even has the military capacity to carry it off. One fear is that the United States would be sucked into finishing the job — a task that even with America’s far larger arsenal of aircraft and munitions could still take many weeks, defense analysts said. Another fear is of Iranian retaliation.

“I don’t think you’ll find anyone who’ll say, ‘Here’s how it’s going to be done — handful of planes, over an evening, in and out,’ ” said Andrew R. Hoehn, a former Pentagon official who is now director of the Rand Corporation’s Project Air Force, which does extensive research for the United States Air Force.

Michael V. Hayden, who was the director of the Central Intelligence Agency from 2006 to 2009, said flatly last month that airstrikes capable of seriously setting back Iran’s nuclear program were “beyond the capacity” of Israel, in part because of the distance that attack aircraft would have to travel and the scale of the task.

Still, a top defense official cautioned in an interview last week that “we don’t have perfect visibility” into Israel’s arsenal, let alone its military calculations. His views were echoed by Anthony H. Cordesman, an influential military analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. “There are a lot of unknowns, there are a lot of potential risks, but Israel may know that those risks aren’t that serious,” he said.

Given that Israel would want to strike Iran’s four major nuclear sites — the uranium enrichment facilities at Natanz and Fordo, the heavy-water reactor at Arak and the yellowcake-conversion plant at Isfahan — military analysts say the first problem is how to get there. There are three potential routes: to the north over Turkey, to the south over Saudi Arabia or taking a central route across Jordan and Iraq.

The route over Iraq would be the most direct and likely, defense analysts say, because Iraq effectively has no air defenses and the United States, after its December withdrawal, no longer has the obligation to defend Iraqi skies. “That was a concern of the Israelis a year ago, that we would come up and intercept their aircraft if the Israelis chose to take a path across Iraq,” said a former defense official who asked for anonymity to discuss secret intelligence.

Assuming that Jordan tolerates the Israeli overflight, the next problem is distance. Israel has American-built F-15I and F-16I fighter jets that can carry bombs to the targets, but their range — depending on altitude, speed and payload — falls far short of the minimum 2,000-mile round trip. That does not include an aircraft’s “loiter time” over a target plus the potential of having to fight off attacks from Iranian missiles and planes

In any possibility, Israel would have to use airborne refueling planes, called tankers, but Israel is not thought to have enough. Scott Johnson, an analyst at the defense consulting firm IHS Jane’s and the leader of a team preparing an online seminar on Israeli strike possibilities on Iran, said that Israel had eight KC-707 American-made tankers, although it is not clear they are all in operation. It is possible, he said, that Israel has reconfigured existing planes into tankers to use in a strike.

Even so, any number of tankers would need to be protected by ever more fighter planes. “So the numbers you need just skyrocket,” Mr. Johnson said. Israel has about 125 F-15Is and F-16Is. One possibility, Mr. Johnson said, would be to fly the tankers as high as 50,000 feet, making them hard for air defenses to hit, and then have them drop down to a lower altitude to meet up with the fighter jets to refuel.

Israel would still need to use its electronic warfare planes to penetrate Iran’s air defenses and jam its radar systems to create a corridor for an attack. Iran’s antiaircraft defenses may be a generation old — in 2010, Russia refused to sell Iran its more advanced S-300 missile system — but they are hardly negligible, military analysts say.

Iranian missiles could force Israeli warplanes to maneuver and dump their munitions before they even reached their targets. Iran could also strike back with missiles that could hit Israel, opening a new war in the Middle East, though some Israeli officials have argued that the consequences would be worse if Iran were to gain a nuclear weapon.

Another major hurdle is Israel’s inventory of bombs capable of penetrating the Natanz facility, believed to be buried under 30 feet of reinforced concrete, and the Fordo site, which is built into a mountain.

Assuming it does not use a nuclear device, Israel has American-made GBU-28 5,000-pound “bunker buster” bombs that could damage such hardened targets, although it is unclear how far down they can go.

Earlier this month, a Bipartisan Policy Center report by Charles S. Robb, the former Democratic senator from Virginia, and Charles F. Wald, a retired Air Force general, recommended that the Obama administration sell Israel 200 enhanced GBU-31 “bunker busters” as well as three advanced refueling planes.

The two said that they were not advocating an Israeli attack, but that the munitions and aircraft were needed to improve Israel’s credibility as it threatens a strike.

Should the United States get involved — or decide to strike on its own — military analysts said that the Pentagon had the ability to launch big strikes with bombers, stealth aircraft and cruise missiles, followed up by drones that could carry out damage assessments to help direct further strikes. Unlike Israel, the United States has plenty of refueling capability. Bombers could fly from Al Udeid air base in Qatar, Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean or bases in Britain and the United States.

Nonetheless, defense officials say it would still be tough to penetrate Iran’s deepest facilities with existing American bombs and so are enhancing an existing 30,000-pound “Massive Ordnance Penetrator” that was specifically designed for Iran Scott Shane contributed reporting.and North Korea.

“There’s only one superpower in the world that can carry this off,” General Deptula said. “Israel’s great on a selective strike here and there.”

طنجة (المغرب) ـ من سهيل كرم ـ (رويترز) - يستقل يونس العدلي وزوجته عبارة من ميناء طنجة المغربي في طريق عودتهما إلى اسبانيا لكن القلق يساورهما من أنهما قد لا يكون بمقدورهما بعد الآن كسب ما يكفي من المال في أوروبا لإعالة عائلتهما الممتدة.
اضطر الزوجان العاطلان عن العمل في اسبانيا منذ العام الماضي إلى ترك ابنهما أمير ذي الثمانية عشر شهرا في رعاية جدته في المغرب.

ويقول العدلي البالغ من العمر 32 عاما "كنت أنا وزوجتي نعول 26 من أقاربنا قبل الأزمة. الآن لا نستطيع إعالة أنفسنا وولدنا."

وفي الوقت الذي تبذل فيه الدول الأوروبية جهودا حثيثة لمعالجة كارثة الديون التي قد تتسبب بركود اقتصادي على مستوى المنطقة بأسرها أصبح مستقبل العدلي على المحك شأنه شأن كثيرين من 2.5 مليون مهاجر مغربي يعيشون ويعملون في أوروبا.

والمغرب من أكثر الدول العربية اعتمادا على تحويلات المغتربين. لذا فإن تفاقم محنة المغاربة المقيمين في أوروبا قد يتسبب في تدهور ميزان المدفوعات ويؤثر على مئات الآلاف في المغرب الذين يعتمدون على المبالغ التي يحولها لهم أقرباء في الخارج.

ويتركز المهاجرون المغاربة في منطقة اليورو في فرنسا واسبانيا وايطاليا ومعظمهم من طبقة العمال مما يعرضهم لمخاطر الغاء الوظائف عندما تتباطأ الاقتصادات.

ويقر العدلي بأنه قد يستغرق بعض الوقت للعثور على عمل جديد في اسبانيا لكنه مستعد للقيام بأي شيء للبقاء هناك.

وقال "إذا مرضت في اسبانيا سأحصل على الرعاية الملائمة في المستشفى بالمجان. لكن هنا فإن المرض بدون عمل قد يعني الموت."

وأبلى اقتصاد المغرب بلاء حسنا حتى الآن في خضم أزمة الديون السيادية الأوروبية لأسباب منها زيادة كبيرة في الإنفاق الاجتماعي من جانب الحكومة في مسعى لحماية الاستقرار السياسي وسط الاضطرابات التي شهدها العالم العربي العام الماضي. وقال وزير الاقتصاد نزار بركة الأسبوع الماضي إن الاقتصاد قد يكون نما خمسة بالمئة العام الماضي ارتفاعا من أربعة بالمئة في 2010.

لكن زيادة الإنفاق الحكومي لا يمكن أن تستمر إلى ما لا نهاية مما يعني أن تحويلات العمال المهاجرين ستظل حيوية للاقتصاد. والتحويلات التي بلغت سبعة مليارات دولار في 2011 تعد مصدرا أكبر للعملة الصعبة من مبيعات الفوسفات صناعة التصدير الرئيسية في البلاد وتقف على قدم المساواة تقريبا مع السياحة ثاني أكبر مشغل للأيدي العاملة في المغرب. وتساعد التحويلات في تخفيف حدة الفقر في البلد الذي يقطنه 32.5 مليون نسمة.

وقال الحسن عاشي الباحث بمركز كارنيجي الشرق الأوسط "قلص المغرب الفقر بنسبة 40 بالمئة بين 1991 و2008 ... وذلك أساسا بفضل جهود فردية مثل زيادة كبيرة في التحويلات."

ويعمل العدلي في اسبانيا منذ 1999 وفقد وظيفته العام الماضي بعد أن سرح مصنع المطاط الصغير الذي كان يعمل به في أليكانتي ربع موظفيه بسبب انخفاض المبيعات. وفقدت زوجته عملها بعدها بأسابيع قليلة عندما أغلق المقهى الذي كانت تعمل به.

وقال العدلي عن إعانة البطالة التي يحصل عليها منذ فقد وظيفته "حاول أن تعيش بخمسمئة يورو (650 دولارا) في الشهر في اسبانيا .. وقريبا قد نخسر هذا الدخل أيضا. هكذا تقول الصحف."

لكن الغيوم التي تلقي بظلالها على مستقبل المهاجرين ليست سوى جانب واحد من التهديد الذي يواجهه المغرب بسبب مشاكل أوروبا.

وقالت سلوى قريقري الخبيرة الاقتصادية والنائبة بالبرلمان عن حزب الاتحاد الاشتراكي للقوات الشعبية المعارض "لم نر بعد المدى الكامل لتداعيات أزمة منطقة اليورو على اقتصادنا.

"تحويلات المهاجرين وعائدات السياحة والاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر ستتأثر بالأزمة. السياق السياسي في المنطقة العربية ككل يدفع المستثمرين الأجانب إلى الانتظار والترقب فيما يتعلق بالدول العربية عموما."

وتسهم التجارة مع الاتحاد الأوروبي بنحو 60 بالمئة من إيرادات صادرات المغرب كما أن 80 بالمئة من السياح الأجانب الذي يزورون المغرب يأتون من بلدان الاتحاد وتعتمد عليهم 400 ألف وظيفة مباشرة وعشرة بالمئة من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي للبلاد.

وتوقع وزير السياحة لحسن حداد أن 2012 لن يكون عاما سهلا للقطاع مع قيام الأوروبيين بالغاء أو تأجيل عطلاتهم أو اختصارها. وبعد عدة سنوات من النمو المستمر في أعداد السياح أصبح المغرب يأمل ألا تنزل الزيارات على الأقل عن مستوى 2011.

وتظهر أرقام التجارة بالفعل تأثير التباطؤ الاقتصادي في الاتحاد الأوروبي. ونمت واردات الاتحاد من البضائع المغربية 7.8 بالمئة في 2011 مقارنة مع نمو بلغ 19.8 بالمئة في 2010.

وقال الوزير بركة "ثمة علاقة طردية قوية بين النمو الاقتصادي في الاتحاد الأوروبي وحجم الطلب على صادراتنا."

والمنسوجات هي ثاني أكبر مصدر لإيرادات التصدير بعد الفوسفات لكن سوقها الرئيسية هي منطقة اليورو. ويعمل بوظائف مباشرة في صناعة المنسوجات أكثر من 200 ألف شخص.

وقال كريم تازي رئيس الجمعية المغربية للنسيج والألبسة "توقعات 2012 ليست شديدة التفاؤل ... الظروف ستكون أكثر صعوبة في 2012 .. مجال الرؤية الحالي للمصدرين لا يتجاوز المدى القصير. فرنسا واسبانيا هما السوقان الرئيسيتان بالنسبة لنا."

وساهمت تدفقات العملة الصعبة البالغة نحو 17 مليار دولار من السياحة وتحويلات المهاجرين والاستثمار الأجنبي المباشر في تخفيف أثر العجز التجاري المتفاقم على ميزان المدفوعات.

وارتفع عحز ميزان المعاملات الجارية في 2011 إلى 6.5 بالمئة من الناتج المحلي الإجمالي من 4.3 بالمئة في 2010 مسجلا أعلى مستوياته منذ الثمانينيات.

وقال عاشي الباحث في كارنيجي "يبدو ميزان المدفوعات المغربي بصدد وضع استثنائي في 2012. عجز ميزان المعاملات الجارية سيتفاقم على الأرجح بعد خفضه بدرجة كبيرة في الأعوام الأخيرة."

ومن شأن أي تدهور في تدفقات العملة الصعبة أن يتسبب في تآكل قدرة المغرب على تمويل الواردات في وقت يواجه فيه الكثير من صادراته الرئيسية منافسة محتدمة من منتجين أقل تكلفة مثل الصين. ويعتمد المغرب بكثافة على استيراد الوقود والقمح اللذين ارتفعت أسعارهما في الأسواق العالمية.

وبلغت احتياطيات النقد الأجنبي في نهاية 2011 نحو 20 مليار دولار أي ما يغطي واردات خمسة أشهر تقريبا وهو أقل مستوى منذ عام 2001.

وقال وزراء بالحكومة الأسبوع الماضي إن المغرب قد يطرق سوق السندات العالمية في 2012 وسيختبر أي إصدار تقييم المستثمرين الأجانب للضغوط التي يتعرض لها ميزان المدفوعات للمغرب في ظل مشاكل أوروبا.

وقال عاشي "قدرة المغرب على توليد احتياطيات النقد الأجنبي محدودة جدا .. أسعار النفط الخام والحبوب ترتفع في حين أن أداء الصادرات الأخرى باستثناء الفوسفات ليس جيدا جدا ... من المرجح أن يزيد عجز ميزان المعاملات الجارية في 2012."

لندن ـ أصبح جوانا داريل أول رجل بريطاني يتحول إلى أم بعد أن أنجب طفلا بصحة جيدة بعد أن أجرى عملية جراحية لتهيئة رحمه للحمل في وقت سابق.

وقالت صحيفتا الديلي ميل البريطانية والصنداي تايمز إن داريل شاب في الثلاثينيات من العمر، ولد ثنائي الجنس؛ حيث كان يحمل أعضاء وهرمونات أنثوية، ولكنه أجرى عملية تحويل جنسي ليصبح رجلا، ولكنه احتفظ بأعضائه الأنثوية بعد العملية. وقال جوانا داريل للصحيفتين إنه في العام الماضي أخذ أدوية هرمونية لإعادة تنشيط الرحم الذي لم تتم إزالته خلال عملية التحويل الجنسي التي أجراها.

وكشفت داريل الذي يعمل في جمعية بومونت لدعم المتحولين جنسيّا إنه تمكن بالفعل من ولادة طفل بعملية قيصرية لاستحالة الولادة الطبيعية لمثل حالته، وقدم الشكر للمجتمع الذي ساعده حتى تمكن من الإنجاب".

وبذلك يعتبر داريل أول رجل بريطاني يصبح أما وينجب طفلا، والثالث على مستوى العالم بعد الأمريكي توماس بيتي وشاب ثانٍ في إسبانيا.

وسار داريل على خطى توماس بيتي الشاب الأمريكي الذي يعتبر أول رجل يتحول لأم وينجب طفلا في العالم حيث أنجب عام 2007 أول طفل ووصل عدد أولاده الآن إلى 3 أطفال، هم: سوزان، وأوستن، وجينيسين.

وتوماس بيتي (38 عاما) الذي يعيش مع زوجته نانسي في ولاية أريزونا الأمريكية ولد في الأصل امرأة، وعندما بلغ العشرين ظل يحقن نفسه بهرمون الذكورة التستوستيرون حتى ينبت شعر لحيته ويغلظ صوته ويتحول لذكر كامل.

في كل يوم تقريبا، تصل شاحنات خاصة إلى ميناء طريفة أو الجزيرة الخضراء في أقصى الجنوب الإسباني، وهناك يتم وضع بضاعة على قدر كبير من التميز.. إنها سيارات فارهة مثل قطع زمرد لم يمسسها من قبل إنس ولا جان.

بعد وضعها، يتم شحن تلك البضاعة في أجنحة خاصة داخل البواخر حتى لا تختلط بالسيارات «المشمكرة»، ومن هناك تقطع مضيق جبل طارق، قبل أن تحط الرحال في ميناء طنجة، وأحيانا في ميناء الدار البيضاء.
في الموانئ المغربية، يتم إخراج هذه السيارات لتوضع فوق شاحنات خاصة، ثم تبدأ رحلة أخرى نحو مدن قريبة أو بعيدة، حيث ينتظرها أصحابها مثل عشاق متلهفين على احتضان معشوقاتهم العذراوات.
في النهاية، تصل هذه السيارات إلى أصحابها بينما يقف معدل «الكيلوميتراج» فيها في علامة صفر، أي أنها عذراء تماما، عذراء بالفعل، لأن هذه السيارات لا تقبل البكارة الاصطناعية، وعشاقها يدخلون بها ويريقون «دمها» بكثير من الاستمتاع والإحساس بالقوة.
أصحاب هذه السيارات هم طينة خاصة من الأغنياء. إن فحولتهم يحولونها نحو الحديد، وعندما يمتطون مركباتهم فإنهم يحسون وكأنهم رواد فضاء يسوقون صحونا فضائية قادمة من كواكب أخرى.
أسعار هذه السيارات تتراوح بين 400 و500 مليون سنتيم للسيارة الواحدة، وأصحابها يطلبون شراءها مباشرة من المصنع، وفي كثير من الأحيان يتم صنعها وفق مواصفات خاصة.
هناك سيارات أخرى أغلى بكثير، ويتم صنعها، من الألف إلى الياء، وفق طلبات خاصة، لذلك تصبح هذه السيارات مثل تحف فنية، ويمكن لقطعة واحدة فيها أن تساوي ثمن سيارة كاملة من هذه السيارات التي يتداولها البشر العاديون في الطرقات.
في كل بلدان العالم هناك تفاوت طبقي بين الناس، وهناك أغنياء جدا وفقراء جدا، وهم يعيشون في انسجام لأن كل واحد يأخذ حقه حسب جهده وعمله وذكائه. لكن التفاوت الطبقي في المغرب ليس مسألة طبيعية لأنه ليس ناتجا عن التفاوت في الجهد والعمل والذكاء، لأن هناك أغبياء كثيرين، كثيرين جدا، تحولوا إلى أغنياء، أغنياء جدا، ليس بفضل عملهم ومجهودهم، بل فقط بفضل نفوذهم وفسادهم وعلاقاتهم و«فهلوتهم».
في العالم المتقدم نفهم كيف يصبح الناس أغنياء جدا في بضعة أيام، فرجل اسمه بيل غيتس من حقه أن يكون كذلك، ومخترعو الفيسبوك أو التويتر أو غيرهما من صيحات الأنترنيت من حقهم أن يغتنوا بين عشية وضحايا، وأصحاب «الشيخ غوغل» يجب أن يفخروا بغناهم بفضل ما قدموه إلى الناس؛ والذين يعملون بجد من طلوع الشمس إلى منتصف الليل يجب أن يكونوا قدوة للآخرين إذا راكموا الثروات. وفي كثير من الأحيان، لا يتباهى هؤلاء المكافحون بسياقة السيارات الفارهة وامتلاك القصور والضيعات واحتقار الآخرين بطريقة غير مباشرة، لكن التافهين والأغبياء والجهلة والأميين الذين نراهم بيننا وهم يتبخترون بسيارات مذهلة ويتباهون بامتلاك القصور والضيعات والأراضي الشاسعة، يتصرفون وكأنهم أكثر ذكاء من بيل غيتس ومارك زوكيربيرغ ألف مرة.
ما يخلق الإحباط في المجتمع ليس هو وجود أغنياء جدا مع فقراء جدا، بل هو وجود أغنياء جدا اكتسبوا ثرواتهم بوسائل النصب والاحتيال أو الاتجار في الممنوعات والمخدرات. ومع مرور الوقت، يبدأ هؤلاء في التصرف وكأنهم أعيان المجتمع والنخبة الأكثر جدية والأكثر ذكاء، وكأن الآخرين لا وجود لهم أو أنهم أغبياء وُجدوا فقط لكي يفسحوا لهم الطريق.
الإحباط القاتل في المجتمعات يبدأ حين يتصرف الأغنياء وكأن الله اصطفاهم دون غيرهم لكي يكونوا أغنياء، بينما الجميع يعرف كيف حصلوا على تلك الأموال، وكيف حصلوا على الملايير من القروض المشبوهة التي لم يردوا منها فلسا واحدا، وكيف باعوا واشتروا في أملاك الدولة والشعب، وكيف نهبوا الميزانيات العمومية، وكيف تهربوا من أداء الملايير من الضرائب، وكيف أخذوا «الكوميسيونات» في الصفقات، وكيف حصلوا على المقالع وخربوا الجبال والغابات، وكيف حصلوا على أراض بالمجان وبنوا فوقها مدن البؤس وحولوا المواطنين إلى شعب دجاج.
عندما تصنع طبقة الأغنياء غناها بواسطة اقتصاد الريع والامتيازات، فذلك هو البركان الذي يمكن أن ينفجر في أي وقت، حينها لا تلوموا أحدا غير أولئك الذين صنعوا ذلك البركان.
