Lets talk skin

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well, and that the New Year is treating you ok. I like most of you I’m sure was glad to see the back of January! I thought that I would resume blogging by discussing the changes that I have implemented within my skin care; both with makeup tips and new products that are….. Dramatically put; life changing. This is a lengthy post, but what do you expect I have been MIA since October. Well let’s get cracking there really is no space for a rambling intro girls!

Skincare

November was the month I discovered a brand, which has revolutionised my skincare routine. Alpha- H is a company which I had heard little of. I always assumed it was one of those extortionately priced niche brands, hard to find and way out of my student budget. However after a trip to the Beauty Bay website I soon realised that I too could experience the magical effects of glycolic acid for a reasonable sum. So I quickly popped the balancing cleanser and liquid gold into my imaginary shopping cart and wheeled it off to checkout before second thoughts took hold. After a couple of uses I began to think that these products would soon become Holy Grail, and would slot firmly into my skincare regiment. Let me tell you, the cleanser is like nothing I’ve ever tried. It’s so moisturising yet balancing at the same time. This will not break you out, and I say that with confidence. It removes eye makeup with the same ease as Liz Earl, without the strong scent or thick consistency. Don’t get me wrong I still recommend the Cleanse and Polish, and use it myself, but this somehow takes its place on a daily basis. I have also been using my Clarisonic on a much more regular basis, Cannot live without this gadget, pricey yes, worth it absolutely.

Right that’s night times covered, now let’s talk lazy mornings. For this I turn to L’occitane fresh facial water. A good spritz and a wipe is all you need. It smells….. Fresh, and is a lovely mild facial water. If anything the spray will shock you into morning sanity.

Right, now onto treatments and moisturisers. I am someone who is incredibly fickle when it comes to moisturisers. Some I loathe, some make me shiny, and some break me out. I truly believe that moisturisers are the hardest part of skincare, with troublesome side effects if you get it wrong. I have found that recently I have adapted my own strange routine, one in which I am staying mainly spot free, apart from those few days girls, you know what I mean. Let’s start with Liquid gold. Yes aptly named by Alpha- H this stuff is gold, it’s magical. Brightens, fades acne scars and pigmentation, and gently exfoliates. No need for grainy scrubs anymore. Simply wipe this on your face and neck every other night and your good to go. On these nights I forget moisturiser and let the glycolic acid do its job. You wake up with glowing skin; I don’t even miss my moisturiser. On the other nights I apply either Clarins combination oil, or origins mega mushroom moisturiser. These are both lovely products. They don’t break me out, but I’m not 100% certain that I won’t stray from these. In the morning I apply La Roche Posay Effaclar duo, an imperfection corrector. This stuff is great and works fantastically as a primer.

Makeup

Told you this was long!!!

I have been going for a barely there face makeup. I have decided I hate medium to full coverage foundations and prefer to conceal specific areas rather than apply a mask. I want the natural glow of my skin to be apparent, not a matte, cakey clay mask which conceals the good as well as the bad. For this I have been loving Bobbi Brown Skin foundation, and BorjouisHealthy Mix. I would recommend both. They are great on my oilier skin. Long lasting, natural, barely detectable under light, and great for paler skins. I have been using Bobbi Brown corrector and concealer to target any blemishes, again highly recommend these. And her setting powders great too!

For blush I have been worshiping the Daniel Sandlerblushers! These are amazing. You must try them! So natural, long lasting and glowing. I also love the new Benefit Box called Hervana, natural hues of pink and peach create a truly personal blusher. I have been using their What’s Uphighlighter too; this is a really nice product, but massively overpriced. Quite liking Benefit, not loving the discontinuing of Throb thoughL.

Hi everyone!

I am truly sorry for the lack of fresh posts reaching your feeds. It makes me feel terrible to see my statistics, and realize that they haven't dropped. You are still coming here to check in with me, and I have continuously stood you up. This is unacceptable, and plain obnoxious.

I think that it is time to take a blog hiatus; I'm not sure for how long, maybe until the New Year?

I will return I promise, I just need to find the motivation, drive and interest I once had.

As my loyal readers will know, this year has been a tough one. With health issues, relationship troubles, and Uni work all to keep up with; mythology20 has taken a back seat.

Whenever I buy something, my first thought is still to share it with you. However at present it appears my purchases are not making it onto your screens! I can only blame sheer lack of enthusiasm for this. Blogging should be fun, and if it’s not then you should stop, or relax for a while. I think it boils down to this, I’m selfish and need to take some time for me, I don't want to go into depth, as neither you or I need that much personal info; but things haven't been great for me, and my life has taken an unexpected tangent.

Another reason for my absence is that a lovely little Cavapoo called Aflie came into my life; he has so much energy that means what’s left of mine, has to go into him.

I'll leave it at that everyone, please continue to blog, as I am still addicted to the blogging community; I just don't know how much I have to offer it at the moment!

I'm back with a home tour!

Hi all! I am so, so, so sorry for being such an unreliable blogger. I hate this. I just feel that if I am not going to put everything in to something, then there is simply no point in doing it. I therefore decided to take a little holiday; hoping to become re-inspired, and regain my blogging mojo. I really appreciated the kind emails of support, encouraging me to take a break and come back refreshed and ready for some full hearted blogging.

Now I know that I promised a house tour a little while ago, and as of late, I failed to deliver. So here I am back with a little house tour. This is just a sneak peak; demonstrating my tastes, and little interior tricks. I also give you a sneak peek into my vanity unit. (Let me know if you want a full collection blog)

I am feeling much better, and am currently doing Logo and web design for a small business. I really enjoy logo design, and have actually discovered I have a little flair when it comes to creativity online. Maybe now I feel confident enough to design my own? In other news, Andy and I have moved in together. We are getting on great, and it’s lovely to have some good company around me all the time! Nothing better than a stress free, happy home!

Hair Products I cannot live without.

It’s as simple as this; these products make my life easier. They turn bedhead hair into manageable, presentable tresses in a few short steps. I actually believe that with some of these products, the necessity to use heat is lost. Having recently gone from dark brown to dark blonde recently; this lack of heat has been a god send. I have been using lots of restorative treatments, and if anything my hair is better condition than before.

I have continually repurchased all of these products; the Trevor Sorbie heat spray for the last four years. This is by far the best heat protective spray available, no frazzle, no residue, just a clean scent and shine. They have been put through my rigorous testing, and have all passed with ribbons in abundance.

Bed Head masterpiece- This hairspray has great hold, without any crispiness, and adds a lovely shine to the hair. This is great to use all through the day, as refreshment. Not only does it function great as a hairspray; it also smells better than any other hair spray product I’ve used. Id compare the scents to apples and pears, and all things fresh, and fruity. I love the spray on this, its wide reaching and doesn’t direct all the product to one area, avoiding any crusty areas. This isn’t cheap at £11 but its well worth the money and it’s a canny size.

Tresemme volumising Dry Shampoo- This is a more recent addiction, starting around 3 months ago. I have always hated dry shampoos and never understood people’s unrelenting passion for Bastise. I always found that my hair would have an ashy appearance following any dry shampoo application. This product does none of the above. It leaves your hair volumised but not matte, and prevents the dandruff effect most dry shampoos create. It also smells nice, with the typical Tresemme scent. A great dry shampoo for dark haired ladies.

John Frieda Moisture barrier hairspray- This is my fly away zapper. It keeps the baby hairs firmly in place, perfect for up do’s and pony tails. This is not a great everyday hairspray, and I prefer the Bed Head for daily use. I always keep this at hand though; ready to tackle those mammoth bad hair days.

Tresemme 24 hour lotion and mousse- These two products have received plenty of well-deserved recognition lately. I have been using them consistently since their launch, alongside heated rollers. There really are no better volumising products in my humble opinion. Plus their cheap!! Win win.

VO5 Argon oil elixir- Again another product used since its launch, a truly great restorative leave in product. Even though the formula is oil, and I have fine hair, this works great. It never adds build up, just shine and silkiness.

Tresemme Heat restorative mask- This is a weekly essential for me. I mentioned this last year, and am still using it. My hair has never become accustomed to it, and so thankfully the results remain excellent.

Elvive 60 second conditioning treatment- This was inspired by our Cheryl haha! I fell for the advert, and was pleased with the results attained. This works wonders in would you believe it 60 seconds! I love this and as you can see from the images, I have squeezed every last drop from this tube.

Finally…..

A girl needs a good set of hairbrushes! I often lust over Mason and Pearson brushes, but can’t justify the expense. Maybe one day. But for now I am satisfied by my hairbrush trio; I present:

The Kent paddle brush, the GHD large barrel blow dry brush, With it's cross over bristles, this is the ideal blow dry brush for those with easily knotted hair, and the famous tangle teezer. I know that the tangle teaser is something I need come in sickness or health, as I begged for someone to get it for me whilst I was in hospital!

Nail Polish Haul

Hi all, just a little nail polish haul for you all. I don’t know about you but every now and then I feel the need to expand my nail polish collection. With my current nail polish storage bursting at the seams this would appear rather foolish; yet no beauty buy of late seems to excite me quite like a beautiful shade of pastel. Bright’s and muddy colours are not as appealing to me anymore. 6 months ago I would have bought anything which resembled muddy wellington boots, but now with summer in full bloom (or not in North East England) I am all for pastels. I feel a girl can never have enough pastel nail polishes.

So here I present you with my latest nail splurge. I was as you can see enticed by the whole ‘crackle’ trend, and can say that it’s not for me. I think that I prefer a well presented, classic manicure. Rough, bumpy nails are annoying, I couldn’t stop touching them. It looks great in pictures, but up close…. not so much.

I also decided to add China Glaze classic mint nail polish (re-fresh mint) to my nail polish collection. It’s a bright choice, and looks fabulous on toes. If however a bright pastel mint shade is not for you; Essie’s latest offering absolutely shore, may be the shade for you. It’s a more toned down, chic affair, perfect for holiday sun. I am pleased with my choices minus the crackle glazes, and will show you some nail of the day shots during the summer months.

Sorry for being a bad Blogger!

I am really sorry for being such a bad blogger. I shall now make an effort to post for you all, on a much more regular basis.

Following my spell of bad health, I had a lot of Uni work to catch up on, in order for me to successfully complete the year. Hence the lack of blogging. I have also felt as though I have nothing to say, but I'm sure my passion will return. I have of course been trying new products as ever, and have some exciting reviews to share with you. I am also doing a house tour this week so keep your eyes peeled. All I can say Is thank you for your ongoing patience, and understanding during this rocky time.

I thought I'd share some of my favourite discoveries from recent weeks.

Fat Face, Chan Luu ish bracelets: These are a steal at £5, and go wonderfully with my leather Pandora bracelet. Perfect for summer, minus the hefty price tag!

Sophie Kinsella novels: Nothing aids sleep like a good girly book. Sophie Kinsella is in my opinion, in a league all of her own. She writes fantastic feminine tales effortlessly!

Revlon Just bitten lip stains: I was reluctant to try these, after a dabble in the Mac version last year. I am glad I did though, these are fabulous, last for hours and add a pop of colour to any summer make up look.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shines

I apologise for my lack of postings. This week has not been the best health wise, and I have just not felt like looking at a computer screen. I have also had a lot of uni work to catch up with after my time off. I promise that when I am at the other side of all this I will resume a regular blogging pattern. I plan on doing my home tour next weekend, so look out for that. I also want to hold another giveaway for you all, so give me some ideas; maybe I should let you choose the prize? Within reason girls!

Anyway this review is of the new (ish) lip products from Chanel; the Rouge Coco Shines. Now to start with I was underwhelmed by this collection, I was extremely excited to pick some up at duty free only to swatch and feel disappointment at the colour pay off. I only stumped up the £22.50 for the colour ‘Boy’ after so many people were raving about it. Once I had one, and loved it! I had to try more.

Now these are not cheap by any stretch of the imagination; but they are such a treat, and a luxurious addition to anyone’s makeup routine. I love the Mac Lustres for day time such as Angel, and Lazy Day, but am easily bored by the same mundane lip products, so was delighted to find that these fit the ‘daily’ lip product void perfectly.

They are sheer, yet moisturising, and add a natural shine to the lips. They make your lips look like a better version of themselves.

If you can afford the splurge I would highly recommend them. I would say opt for Evasion as it is my favourite of the three, although I simply couldn’t choose between evasion or chance so was treated to them both, happy days!

WEEKEND HAUL

I spent Friday and Saturday with Andy finishing off my landing and spare bedroom. I choose to do the landing all cream and white; creating a very calm and neutral space. I opted for a cute pale blue theme in the spare room, by adding some simple accessories. I am really pleased with what we achieved in such a short space of time, and will do a house tour for you all, including my makeup storage soon!

On Saturday whilst looking for finishing touches, I couldn’t help but go into boots to take full advantage of their 3 for 2 offers. I found some exciting things, the most of which being the Prestige eyebrow kit, resembling that of the Anastasia brow kit. Whilst I was there I also jumped on the Vo5 Argon oil band wagon, which I tried today and love! It’s a really lightweight leave in product, which doesn’t weigh down the hair (and mine is super fine).

What I'd tell my younger self part 2

I wrote the 1^st instalment of my ‘What I’d tell younger self’ back in February. I thought that today I would finally complete it. The inspiration behind this comes after finding a picture of my lovely Nan and me together at a party a few years ago. When I look at this picture I want to shake the girl staring back at me; and pre warn her of the dangers she might face if she continues to lead her life the way she is. I look healthy, confident and happy in my opinion; and although I’m still happy my confidence and health is not quite so A OKAY. If my advice can help or forewarn any of my younger readers, then I will be pleased. Treat your body like your best friend

As you all know I have been unwell of late, I haven’t disclosed what was wrong with me until now. I was prescribed the pill Marvelon, to regulate my menstrual cycle. I had only been taking this pill for 3 days when I began to develop a headache.

This wasn’t the type of headache you experience every now and then; it was constant and would not let go. Paracetamol didn’t touch it, and I began to get really concerned. I went to doctors on day 5, and was told that this was common, and to keep it up and all side effects would cease as my body became accustomed to the drug. Now for some reason we all have tremendous respect for doctors, and feel rude questioning them. It took me another 10 days to return. My headache had never relented, and I was beginning to develop a severe aching neck and upper back. Not only that but I could hear my own pulse in my ears.

By this time I was exhausted, and extremely alarmed. When I returned to the doctors I was again told that there was nothing to be concerned about; but to stop taking the Marvalon. Two days later, I felt unable to take care of myself, and requested my mum to come and get me so I could be looked after at home. I gradually began to go downhill and felt like a zombie.

On the same night I finally gave up and demanded someone take this seriously, so we went to the emergency department. When I got there, the doctor looked in my eyes, both previous doctors, and optician had done the same things in the previous days. He again said there was nothing to worry about, and that it was a migraine, bought about by anxiety. I was prescribed codeine and sent home.

The next day I was back at the doctors with uncontrollable vomiting. I can honestly say that I never knew what poorly was until that day! Again I was sent home with some anti-nausea tablets. Finally on the Monday, I went into my mum’s room crying, begging her to get someone to help me. We returned to the doctors, where my life saver looked into my eyes, and saw what everyone else had missed, papilledema. This is when the optic nerve located at the back of the eye is swollen.

He immediately admitted that this was serious, and sent me for an emergency CT scan, he has since admitted that he suspected I had a brain tumour, the scariest thing I’ve ever heard! That day was the worst of my life, tests and scans, and finally a diagnosis. They told me I had a condition called IIH (idiopathic intracranial hypertension) bought about by the pill. This basically means that my body had begun producing too much spinal fluid; which is dispersed to the brain, causing swelling to my optic nerves, which leads to vision loss. I had to have an immediate lumbar puncture which was not pleasant and was ambulanced to the RVI in Newcastle for specialist treatment. I have been home since March 23^rd and am gradually improving. My eyesight is also improving, and I have been on a serious diet; losing two stone since March. What I want to say is, don’t convince yourself that being on the chubby side is fine, and that you’re happy just the way you are; because it’s not about appearance. It’s about your health! I was a size 16, and in the UK that’s common. This has been the kick I needed to change my lifestyle for good! No more sweet tooth; no amount of treats are worth losing your health. This condition is very rare affecting 1 in 100,000 people, but still needs to be advertised. They need to put this risk in the Pill leaflet! Anyway my point after my ramble is: LOOK AFTER YOURSELF! Eat well, and don’t be silly like me.

Stand up for yourself

I sometimes struggle to let people know when they are upsetting me. I find it difficult to be brutal, and don’t enjoy confrontation. The worst kind of confrontation is with those you live with; because you can’t hide! People using your things without asking, taking your kindness for granted, and ignoring your requests can make your life unbearable, and letting them know can be incredibly challenging. My advice would be stand up for you, tell them that it’s not acceptable. Don’t trust just anyone with your things, as many people do not have the same respect boundaries as you may have. Don’t be a door mat, or keep it all bottled up inside, help the other person by telling them what they’re doing; it might do them good!

Don’t give all of yourself to a boy

I have been on and off with the same boy since I was 16, I fell in love with him right away. First of all he was so handsome, and kind, and made me feel at ease, and like I could share anything with him. We spent all our spare time together, and became immersed in the relationship as you often do when you’re young. I definitely put greater importance on our relationship than my friendships, and became that flaky girl we all love to hate ha-ha! I was incredible sociable when I met him, and slowly that began to disappear. As you get older, people go through different relationships, and the same often happens, making it impossible to keep in touch with everyone. I wish that I had tried harder, and not lost touch with so many of my friends. Andy has been an incredibly important part of my life for 5 years now and we still rely heavily on each other. Now I never told any of you this at the time; but in September we moved in together; and things didn’t go well. It was too soon, and neither of us was ready, so he left. I then moved in with a friend. I think that we are going to try again in the near future, as we both love each other tremendously and don’t want to be without one another. Sometimes you just can’t move on, and you have to accept something is keeping you there. I think it’s his smile ha-ha!

Jealousy is a waste of energy

Being jealous as a young adult is inevitable. It may be because of a friend’s bag, or a dress, or another girl. I can remember feeling paranoid whenever Andy went out, in fear that he would meet someone else. What a waste of time! If a boy wants to be with you, he will be. He won’t cheat on you, and will have enough respect for you to behave when out with friends. It’s important to let your boyfriend go out, as we all need some space! Don’t waste your energy worrying that he will cheat on you, because no matter how much you worry, if he wants to, he will. The same goes for friends, don’t feel jealous of materialistic things, think about how great she looks, be happy for her, and remember that your friends because you trust, and love each other, not because of what crap is in your wardrobe! Competing with friends is not worth the time or the energy!

Louise Young Super Foundation Brush- LY34

Anyone who is a fan of Pixiwoo, will no doubt have heard of Louise young. Her brushes are favoured by countless professionals, as they are extremely innovative, and well, work bloody great! Not only are they excellent quality, but they are also reasonably priced; if compared to say Suqqu.

The brush I am going to discuss with you today; is possibly the most unique of the range. With its distinctive dome shape; it epitomizes the foundation brush of my dreams. This is of course the Super Foundation brush or LY34. I love brushes such as the Mac 190; the traditional foundation brush. However such brushes can be a real hassle to use. They can apply streaky if you’re not 100% focused, and are a pain to clean.

(My counter top is not as dusty as it seems! bloody camera picks up every speck!)

This brush embodies all the characteristics of the traditional foundation brush, with one major difference; it’s shape. The dome is firm if pressed, yet soft if moved in circular motions. making it the ideal brush for both application and blending, a feat that is often lacking in the majority of brushes these days.

This brush allows you to blend your foundation effortlessly, making it ideal for early morning starts; or simply us lazy girls! This brush is also synthetic making it generous with your product; no slurped up foundation here! This is a fantastic brush, with many possible uses, such as cream blusher; or bronzer. Over the last week, I have put aside my stippling brushes, instead opting for this exquisite brush every day. The finish it creates is just fantastic, and so easily achieved. This is definitely worth a try, if you’re in the market for a new foundation applicator, or simply the best foundation brush I have ever tried.

Chanel Pro Lumiere vs. Mat Lumiere

Many of my regular readers will know that I love the Chanel Mat Lumiere foundation; I have worn it every day since before Christmas, and have enjoyed the finish and longevity it provided. I am a pale girl; much like many English ladies, and had to opt for mat purely for shade no.5. I never intended to buy Mat lumiere, but Pro; however during the colour matching process it became apparent that my only option was the Mat, as number 10 in Pro was just too dark for my fair skin. Anyway; during a mini shopping spree with my mum on Friday; I went to repurchase my beloved Mat Lumiere; only to discover to my horror that said shade no.5 had been discontinued! The girl assured me that she could colour match me to another shade, and we discovered that after some English sun I could comfortably wear no.10 in the Pro. I decided to go for it, if only to provide my readers with a comparison of the two.

So on Saturday I applied my Pro, and was delighted with the coverage (it’s amazing) and light reflective finish it created. I had low hopes for the longevity on my normal/ combination skin and set about my daily business. When I finally looked in the mirror at around 4’ o’clock I was astonished to find that it had lasted better than the Mat Lumiere. Now I know this sounds odd; but for some reason this foundation has better coverage and it would seem staying power. Now that the palest shade has been discontinued, I see no reason to continue with Mat Lumiere; when the finish, staying power and consistency of the Pro is so much more luxurious.

Overall for you oily skin girls; I would say try the pro. Get a sample if possible. I really was surprised at how well this foundation coped with my some what oily T zone.

This is one of the great foundations, which looks beautiful in all light conditions. It gives you a prefect complexion; effortlessly.

This is now my foundation of choice!

I cannot believe the impact pretty toe nails can have upon my mood. Having freshly painted, glittery nails is enough to make any girl happy. I do realise that using glitter nail polish may be slightly childish; but none the less I like the effect, so shall be slapping it over every colour during the summer months. I think that this added step creates a more 'professional' appearance; and really looks like someone has spent a long time pampering those tootsies. In this particular glitter mad combo, I opted for a bright neon, in the form of China Glaze Purple Panick, and used the Barry M glitter polish number 244. I do still hope that this glitter polish is available, as the glitter flecks are really extra special. I hope you like my fun look! Let me know any of your top tips for brightening up your toes!

PRODUCTS I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT, AND A LITTLE CLINIQUE HAUL

Hello ladies, another fly in post; I know, I know the road back to regular blogging is a long one, but I’ll get there! This week saw my granddads 80th birthday in Torquay, Devon. The flight from Newcastle knocked me, and meant that Saturday was a day spent in bed. I managed to put on a smile and a lot of under eye corrector, and show my face at my amazing granddads special day. It was a lovely evening; just watching him mingle was adorable. He’s so shy, and gets nervous when the cameras are about! Such a sweetie!!! Anyway here’s a little snap shot into my most coveted products.....

I thought that I would share with you my five most cherished beauty items; things that I just couldn’t cope without. These are always the items I carry with me on all trips, and some on a daily basis. If any of these items were discontinued, I would literally be stuck! They are simply irreplaceable and make my life that little bit brighter. So here we go:

1) Mac Angel Lipstick- this is my daily lip colour choice, I always have it with me everywhere I go; and keep one for my bag and one in my collection. I think that’s what highlights the importance of a product; when you feel the need to have safety in numbers! I only feel secure when I have a top up waiting in the wings.

2) Nars Turkish Delight lip gloss- I wear this over the top of Angel, and love the milky effect it creates. It’s not too sticky, and can be slapped on mirror free, without too much cause for concern.

3) By Terry Baume De Rose- This is a pricey product; but something that will now remain in my possession forever. Nothing seems to nourish my lips quite like it, and if I forget to apply it, I soon notice the difference. A beautiful cult product that has managed to win a place in my heart, and my makeup bag!

4) Clinique Air brush concealer- This is a fantastic product; reasonably priced, and easy to get a hold of. This is the best under eye concealer I have ever used. It instantly brightens dark circles, and covers phenomenally without caking or sitting in the delicate skin of the eye area. This is a product that I could no longer live without!

5) Nars Penny Lane cream Blusher- this is my favourite blush colour of all time! It’s so natural. It gives you a dewy glow that seems to radiate from within, that is what we all seek, and is so easily achieved with this simple little product. It’s no frills, no fuss, and sheer brilliance!

Now seeing as I've been away for so long, I thought I'd do a mini Clinique Haul too. I picked up two products as their beauty bonus gift is currently available. I have always wanted to try their cleansing balm, as I love anything clever that becomes a nourishing oil once on your skin. This is a genius little product, that cuts through waterproof mascara and lippy like nothing I have ever tried before. I love the fact that the product blurb includes the word tenacious; that had me sold! This is definitely worth a look; I mean look at that thick, creamy texture! I will do a full review in a few weeks, once I know the true results.

I also picked up the Rinse of cleansing mousse; this has also wowed me so far. The lather created from a pea sized amount is amazing; and truly pampering. This is what I would call a luxurious cleanser without the huge price tag! I picked this up for just over £12.

I just thought I'd share with you the love of my life, Henry. He's my moody Tom cat who I just love! He's so photogenic! can we have a round of awwwwwww!

Hi all, just a little haul for you. I hope you have been relishing the beautiful sunshine, even here in the UK; where sun in April is unheard of!

I have been out a few times, and have treated myself to a few items. I’m still not 100% hence the lack of posting. I find even a little trip out exhausting, and it wipes me out for the next day. I will return to a regular blogging routine soon; I miss it a lot, particularly interacting with you all.

Of course with the nice weather comes some summer splurges; I bought two very pretty, light blouses from Primark. I’m not a Primark girl, but whilst in there I spotted these and thought for the price I couldn’t go wrong!

I also wanted to trial a cheaper foundation for you all, so armed with many a review I headed to the Bourjois counter to pick up the Bio Detox Foundation. When I got there I spotted the 3 for 2 offers, and decided to try what looked like a Hoola dupe, and waterproof mascara, as my eyes tend to water a lot at this time of year. I like the foundation so far; it’s easy to apply, the colour is great for my fair skin tone, and it hasn’t oxidized on my face throughout the day. As for the detox bit I’ll let you know! It promises to increase oxygen levels in the skin, and to filter out the pollution we all encounter on a daily basis. The fact it’s organic is nice too. I also really like the bronzer; it’s fairer than Hoola, and would make a great dupe for anyone looking for a nice matte bronzer without the £23.50 Benefit price tag!

The last thing I purchased was a GHD large blow dry brush. This is bloody great! The bristles are designed in a way which prevents the dreaded tangle many encounter during a DIY blow-dry. It’s great for creating volume, and from what I’ve heard it’s one of the best on the market. Give this one a whirl ladies!

I also bought some heated rollers which I will review soon; I don’t know how I lived without them!

GRANDADS 80TH FASHION PICKS

Hi all, just a quick post from my sickbed. I thought I'd get your opinions on the dress, shoe, and bag choices I just made for my Grandads's 80th birthday in around 3 weeks. I won't be doing too much dancing however, recovery seems to be very slow! I will reveal whats wrong with me soon; in an in depth post. It will be a great way to get the warning messages out there, regarding the contraceptive pill. I mean I was a reasonably healthy 21 year old; now with what may be a life long condition. Anyway enough of the dreariness; take a look. Honest opinions girls! I was going for a classic look, that no elderly person could be offended by.

Health scare

Just a little update to let you all know why I've been absent. I haven't lost my blogging will power, or decided to throw in the towel; quite the opposite. I have in fact had a bit of a health scare and have been in hospital for a few days. I'm out now and hopefully on the way to recovery. Blouses- a bit of a fetish?

Wearing a blouse makes me feel immensely feminine. I think that the sheer, fluid, graceful, floating, sensual fabric creates an inherently chic and sophisticated look regardless of what you chose to team it with. I love to pair a floaty blouse with a chunky knit cardy; to mix it up a bit. There is no better way to feel mature and stylish than to throw on a blouse, go oversized for comfort; or khaki to create an edgy look. One of my most coveted styles is to pair something that oozes grace with something that screams masculinity; for example biker boots, skulls, or a macho watch. What do you think of this seasons must have?

SKIN CARE IN A CRISIS

If you have been following my blog for a while, you may have taken the time to read one of my spot army posts. This was a feature I ran alongside my desperate hunt for spot fighting products and ingredients. During this quest I discovered the Avene gentle cleanser; not designed for spot fighting, but for sensitised skin. Well what is acne if not distressed skin. This cleanser worked miracles for me, and I absolutely love it. I love it so much that I have repurchased it. It’s the one cleanser I own that used consistently will prevent me from breaking out. That was all great until I took a herbal tablet, which I was allergic to. Hello flared up skin! I broke out awfully in blisters, and it was not attractive!

I decided to see if my Avene products filled with Avene thermal water would help soothe, and settle my skin. I cannot put into words the difference this little idea made. Within hours the redness was subsiding and the sting was lessened. I then felt brave enough to apply a lotion; I opted for Oilatum Natural Repair. This is a product that my younger brother uses to treat his eczema, so I thought that it would be ideal for sensitised skin. I was correct, and the next day my face was dramatically improved. I wish I had taken photos to show you the astonishing pace at which these products calmed the situation. I am now firmly attached to these products, and can confirm that if the results continue to impress me as they have for the last month, that this will be my permanent skin care system.

For those of you with oily skins thinking ‘that won’t work for me' try it, honestly, the products are so gentle that they are worth a try. My skin is oily/normal and I love the Oilatum. It is quite rich, yet absorbs remarkably fast. It doesn’t increase my shine throughout the day, and my makeup stays in place just as well.

I would highly recommend all of these products to everyone. All skin types! Give them a try. See if the best way for you is switching harsh chemicals and astringents for gentle, soothing products. You may be surprised by the results!

FEBRUARY FAVOURITES

Mac Mineralize skin finish natural- I have loved using this as a finishing powder. This gives such a natural finish, and at the same time adds a cheeky bit of extra coverage. PERFECT.

Mac Paintpots- These have always been a favourite of mine. I love the simplicity of them. They are so quick and effortless to apply; yet give such amazing looks with beautiful shades and depths.

Benefit Eyebright- I have been using this alongside my paint pots in the inner corner. This is a great product, it applies so smoothly and adds the perfect amount of brightening power to even the sleepiest eyes.

Maxfactor Masterpiece mascara- This is an old friend of mine. I had completely forgotten the love I felt towards this product. It applies beautifully creating both volume and length. In addition it allows you to get right to the root of those troublesome bottom lashes without making a mess! Highly recommend this classic!

Mac Highlighter Belightful- This is again an old favourite; lately I’ve been shopping my stash rather than spending! It’s amazing how many great products you find in your collection.

Lush Goodies- I have been relishing my recent lush purchases! Love them, what more can I say. They smell delicious and work great.

Marc Jacobs Daisy- As we move into spring, fragrance choices must change. I’m starting the adjustment process; moving from nightly, warm scents, to fresh floral aromas such as daisy. This gives added meaning to the saying ‘fresh as a daisy’.

Mac Angel- This is my all-time favourite lip stick; this never lets me down, and always makes me feel confident. If this was discontinued I really would feel lost! I could live without all my other shades, this is all I need I’ve decided.

Chanel Blush Pink Explosion- This goes great with Angel, and adds the perfect amount of pink goodness to the apples of my cheeks. I love Chanel Blushers so much; they are so easy to apply and almost impossible to go ‘overboard’ with.
