and..Red Bull hits again!! Unbelievable!

2012-10-14T20:01:00.000+03:00

THIS IS A MUST WATCH: www.redbullstratos.com

Red Bull Stratos is a mission to the edge of space that will try to surpass human limits that have existed for more than 50 years.
Supported by a team of experts, Felix Baumgartner will undertake a stratospheric balloon flight to more than 120,000 feet / 36,576 meters and make a record-breaking freefall jump in the attempt to become the first man to break the speed of sound in freefall, while delivering valuable data for medical and scientific advancement.

Felix Baumgartner started his ascent to 23 miles above Earth today, hoping to achieve the craziest free fall that could make him the first skydiver to break the sound barrier.

Baumgartner took off in a pressurized capsule carried by a 55-story ultra-thin helium balloon that is expected to take nearly three hours to climb into the stratosphere.
If plans go as expected, Baumgartner will then jump into a near vacuum with no oxygen to begin what is expected to be the fastest free fall from the highest-ever manned balloon and doing so, the Austrian daredevil will break the 1960 record for high-altitude jupms.

Playboy's smart moves..

2011-09-13T16:21:00.002+03:00

Is there anything better than reliving the glory of a half century ago, when the magazine made its biggest splash publishing nude pictures of Marilyn Monroe and was being read by millions?

What could be better in a bad economy than to retrace the 1960s' good times and give readers a break on the magazine's price?

Indeed, among the hottest fashion trends for men are retro looks inspired by TV shows such as "Mad Men," which no doubt was an inspiration for other period programs like NBC's new "The Playboy Club," a fictional primetime drama about what goes on behind the scenes of one of the '60s-era nightclubs..

Baby business?? It is becoming a little bit more complicated..

2011-09-08T16:58:00.035+03:00

Maybe there are some serious rules missing in the "Baby business" industry..

It is a fact nowadays that more women choose to have babies on their own. As the number of children born through artificial insemination increases, outsize groups of donor siblings are starting to appear.

Children must know their donor’s number and this must become part of their sex education because the possibilities to get in contact with others who were born through donors are growing every day.

According to a search made by a mother in a Web-based registry for other children fathered by the same donor, an online group was created to track them.
Over the years, she watched the number of children in her son’s group grow.
And grow.
Today there are..

150 children, all conceived with sperm from one donor
Now, there is growing concern among parents, donors and medical experts about potential negative consequences of having so many children fathered by the same donors, including the possibility that genes for rare diseases could be spread more widely through the population. Some experts are even calling attention to the increased odds of accidental incest between half sisters and half brothers, who often live close to one another.

Guess Where Coca-Cola Is Investing $4 Billion

2011-09-06T21:25:00.001+03:00

Who says American companies aren’t investing? They are. Billions, in fact. Only, they are just not investing in the U.S.

Atlanta based Coca-Cola (KO) plans to invest $4 billion in China, the company’s CEO Muhtar Kent told reporters in Shanghai this week. It’s the company’s biggest planned investment in China since the 2009 investment of $2 billion. The investments will start next year and is part of the company’s China capex until 2014.

Kent said the company is even considering listing its shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, adding itself to the list of mainstream brands listing their depositary receipts on exchanges outside of their home base. Massachusetts luggage maker Samsonite opted to list in Hong Kong in the second quarter rather than do its initial public offering on the NYSE. The new China investments will focus on innovation, infrastructure and...

Germany's first "sex tax meters"

Just need to think smart..

More or less every country has its ladies of the night, hasn't it?
Why not take advantage of this?
...
(Reuters) - Prostitutes in the German city of Bonn must carry a ticket purchased from a new parking meter-like machine while working the streets or face hefty fines from tax authorities in a scheme launched on Monday night.

In Germany, ladies of the night pay income tax -- the level of which varies from region to region -- but compliance is difficult to enforce with women seeking business on the street.

Fiat is once again working with Gucci to put its mark on the convertible 500C. Fiat 500C by Gucci comes personalized with similar items from the Fiat 500 by Gucci coupe.

After the success of Fiat 500 by Gucci, launched in May, Fiat and the fashion designer extend their cooperation on the Fiat 500C convertible version. The Italian manufacturer has already 3,000 orders for the special edition with a fixed roof, which makes them hope that the new Fiat 500C by Gucci will enjoy the same success.

To individualize the new Fiat 500C by Gucci, the two companies have turned to white paint for the bodywork, to a range of satin or black chrome accessories, to contrast in the most obvious way.

15 minutes of exercise a day can extend life by three years

2011-08-16T15:01:00.007+03:00

According to this new National Research, it seems really easy to win three more years of life.. I think it is worth trying. Why not?

"It's for men, women, the young and old, smokers, healthy and unhealthy people. Doctors, when they see any type of patient, this is a one-size-fits-all type of advice," the lead researcher Chi Pang Wen told Reuters in a telephone interview.

(Reuters) - Doing just 15 minutes of moderate exercise a day may add three years to your life, a large study in Taiwan has found.

After taking into account differences in age, weight, sex and a range of health-related indicators, they found that just 15 minutes of moderate exercise a day increased life expectancy by three years compared to those who remained inactive.

"The first 15 minutes ... the benefits are enormous," Wen said.

Google’s Big Bet on the Mobile Future

2011-08-16T11:32:00.006+03:00

Maybe in a few years wherever you will look, you are going to see GOOGLE or GOOGLE will be watching you.

Google made a $12.5 billion bet on Monday that its future — and the future of big Internet companies — lies in mobile computing, and moved aggressively to take on its arch rival Apple in the mobile market.

The Silicon Valley giant, known for its search engine and Android phone software, rattled the tech world with its announcement that it would acquire Motorola Mobility Holdings, allowing it to get into the business of making cellphones and tablets.
The acquisition, Google’s largest to date and an all-cash deal, would put the company in head-to-head competition with its own business partners, the many phone makers that use Android software, as well as with Apple.

Would you prefer an old fashioned movie.. or a breathtaking 3-D ?

2010-08-03T18:18:00.001+03:00

by Greis,

A joke making the rounds online involves a pair of red and green glasses and some blurry letters that say, “If you can’t make it good, make it 3-D.”

Almost everybody knows that "AVATAR" became the most successful film ever made..
But was it because of the three dimensional world of James Cameron that we explored or there was something more behind the enchanting multi-coloured fary-tale.
Also an enormous success was recorded by "Alice in Wonderland" of Tim Burton which followed imediately after.

On the other hand, filmakers are working hard on having nearly 60 3-D movies for the next two years..

Numerous online complaints have been counted this year, eventhough the measurement of the audience resistance to the three dimensional cinema productions is quite difficult since with every new release the box offices are set on fire..

E-books catching on with readers

2009-09-14T23:34:00.020+03:00

by CNN,

Paul Jessup is an avid reader who is increasingly turning to e-books to feed his love of the written form. It's not just ease of use that draws Jessup to books in a digital form, it's the potential e-books represent.

"It's much better for looking things up, since any e-reader's search function is 10 times better than flipping and looking and searching on my own" in a printed book, said Jessup, an Erie, Pennsylvania-based writer.

He is one of a growing number of bibliophiles, spurred by new reading technologies like Amazon's Kindle, who are gravitating to the digital realm.

Key developments in displays are improving e-book reading devices, whether it be E Ink's displays in products like the Sony Reader and the Kindle, or the easy on the eyes organic light emitting diode (OLED) screens being used in netbook computers and smartphones. Up-and-coming technology promises to enhance e-book reading even further.

Low-power, reflective e-paper displays, which can be read in direct sunlight, are expected to hit the market in the next year from companies like Prime View International and Plastic Logic, said Nick Colaneri, director of the Flexible Display Center at Arizona State University.

"At first these will be flat and largely indistinguishable from the displays in devices like Amazon's Kindle," Colaneri said. "But the availability of a new feature like mechanical flexibility always stimulates the creative energies of designers."

Travel Picks: 10 of world's most unusual foods

2009-09-11T20:45:00.006+03:00

by REUTERS,

While much of the fun of traveling revolves around new experiences, even the most adventurous explorers may draw the line at trying certain foods.

Proving that one man's winged rat is another man's pricey appetizer, members and editors of travel website VirtualTourist.com have come up with a list of 10 of the world's most unusual foods. Reuters has not endorsed this list:

1. Pig's Blood Cake; Taiwan
In Taiwan, pig's blood cake is sold on a wooden stick and eaten like ice cream. Easily found at street markets, it's a sweet treat generally made from pig's blood and rice.

2. Live Octopus; South Korea
Unlike calamari which is dead and still, octopus in South Korea often arrives at the table alive and moving. Connoisseurs of the dish say it's best to eat quickly.

3. Grasshopper; Uganda
Caught during the rainy season and eaten cooked or raw, these are a perennial favorite. Sold with or without wings and legs, they are easily found at the local markets.

4. Pigeon; France
While considered a dirty street animal by many, this poultry dish is an expensive and much-loved delicacy that graces the plates of some of the country's finest restaurants. Considered to have a robust flavor, it still struggles to gain culinary acceptance in much of the world.

Market crisis 'will happen again'

2009-09-10T22:39:00.013+03:00

by BBC,

The world will suffer another financial crisis, former Federal Reserve chief Alan Greenspan has told the BBC.

"The crisis will happen again but it will be different," he told BBC Two's The Love of Money series.

He added that he had predicted the crash would come as a reaction to a long period of prosperity.

But while it may take time and be a difficult process, the global economy would eventually "get through it", Mr Greenspan added. "They [financial crises] are all different, but they have one fundamental source," he said.

"That is the unquenchable capability of human beings when confronted with long periods of prosperity to presume that it will continue."

Michael Jackson glove fetches $49,000 in Australia

2009-09-07T15:49:00.003+03:00

by REUTERS,A white glove worn by the late singer Michael Jackson sold at auction for A$57,600 ($49,000) in Australia Sunday, nearly twice the price auctioneers expected, the auction house said.

The white bejeweled glove was a trademark of the U.S. singer, and according to auction house Bonhams and Goodman this was the first Jackson glove to go on sale since he died in June at the age of 50.

The glove sold in Melbourne Sunday was worn by Jackson in Sydney in 1996, on the day he married Debbie Rowe, the mother of his two elder children, the auction house said.
After a bidding war between collectors in Australia and the United States, it was bought by Warwick Stone on behalf of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas...

The World's Billionaires

2009-09-07T13:44:00.007+03:00

by Forbes,
It's been a tough year for the richest people in the world. Last year there were 1,125 billionaires. This year there are just 793 people rich enough to make our list.

The world has become a wealth wasteland.

Like the rest of us, the richest people in the world have endured a financial disaster over the past year.

Today there are 793 people on our list of the World's Billionaires, a 30% decline from a year ago.
Of the 1,125 billionaires who made last year's ranking, 373 fell off the list--355 from declining fortunes and 18 who died. There are 38 newcomers, plus three moguls who returned to the list after regaining their 10-figure fortunes. It is the first time since 2003 that the world has had a net loss in the number of billionaires. The world's richest are also a lot poorer. Their collective net worth is $2.4 trillion, down $2 trillion from a year ago. Their average net worth fell 23% to $3 billion. The last time the average was that low was in 2003.

Bill Gates lost $18 billion but regained his title as the world's richest man. Warren Buffett, last year's No. 1, saw his fortune decline $25 billion as shares of Berkshire Hathaway fell nearly 50% in 12 months, but he still managed to slip just one spot to No. 2. Mexican telecom titan Carlos Slim Helú also lost $25 billion and dropped one spot to No. 3.

Lady Gaga is queen of downloads

2009-09-07T11:30:00.009+03:00

by BBC News,

Lady Gaga's Poker Face is the most downloaded song since the download chart began five years ago, the Official UK Charts Company says.
The single notched up 779,000 sales on downloads alone to top the chart, and her first UK release Just Dance is the third most downloaded with 700,000.Kings of Leon featured at numbers two and four with their hits Sex on Fire and Use Somebody. La Roux's In For The Kill came in at number five. This was the most recent release in the top 10, first charting in March.

Download growth.

Lady Gaga, whose debut album The Fame was released this year, said: "I am honoured to be the songwriter and performer behind the number one and number three all-time most downloaded songs in history in the UK." The fact that the top five tracks were all released within the past 12 months indicates how important download sales now are to the music industry - digital sales now account for around 98% of the singles market.
