Podcast Script (REVISED)

Hello, hello, hello everyone and welcome to the first episode of “Honestly…” So in case you don’t know, Honestly… is a lifestyle blog. This means we have a little bit of everything. Today I’ll be giving you a recipe. *GASP* don’t worry you don’t even have to us the microwave. Since I am Puerto Rican and the holidays are still among us, I wanted to share with you the recipe for a staple in the Puerto Rican holiday party- Coquito-

For those of you who don’t know what Coquito is, think of it as the Puerto Rican version of eggnog. It’s delicious. So let’s say you are a invited to a holiday party and you don’t know what to take… PUT THOSE PLASTIC CUPS and paper plates down. Get into the spirit…(get it? Spirit? ‘cause Rum…) anyway it’ll make sense later. So, get in the spirit and make some coquito. This recipe is so easy, anyone can do it. So let’s get to it.

Go ahead and write this down. Here’s what you’ll need

1 12oz can of evaporated milk

1 14oz can of sweetened condensed milk

1 14oz can of coconut cream

Cinnamon is optional but if you choose to add, go ahead and added to taste.

Last but certainly not least Rum.

Now for those good folks out there that do not drink. FEAR NOT! You too can enjoy this delicious beverage. We call it Ponche rather than coquito. With rum Coquito, without Ponche. You can follow the same recipe and skip the rum.

There is always a debate on the type of rum and how much of it should be added but honestly… You can’t go wrong. The recipe calls for 1 cup of white rum but I have made it with more than a cup and I have used dark rum. It all depends on your preference and how boozy you want it to be.

Now that you have all your ingredients gathered, all you have to do is combine them, all 3 cans and the rum, and mix well. Usually, I mix it in the blender, give it a few pulses and voila! This should give you enough Coquito for about 2.5 16oz containers.

You want to make sure you get containers with a top. I usually save up wine bottles and their corks and clean them well. I am terribly clumsy so I usually use a funnel to pour the coquito into the bottle. These make great gifts and you can customize labels for each other bottles if you wanted to. Now we’re getting fancy!

So instead of those paper plates and plastic cups you have 2 bottles of deliciousness, set and ready to go. Go ahead! Sit down and enjoy that other half… I promise I won’t tell anyone… Thank you guys for joining me today. Enjoy the coquito!

Honestly...Podcasts are kinda great

Before you ever start recording a podcast, you want to plan things out. Find the show title, description, logo and the first few episodes. Sit down and create an outline.

To attract an audience there are a few things a "podcaster" can do. One of the most popular things to do is get listed on iTunes. Then create an engaging cover art, describe your podcast in dazzling detail, and make your description search friendly. If you have a blog, such as this one, let your readers know about your podcast. Interview thought leaders in your niche. Strategically target those who have a big online following.

Since my podcast is going to be directly related to my blog, the demographics are the same. The podcast will focus on the holidays and it will be targeted to people that are interested in podcasts/podcast episodes related to the holidays.

The best way to describe my organization for the podcast is “A method to the madness”. The experience has been overwhelming but it has helped find new ways to organize my thoughts. Outlines are a way of life now.
