Virus KSpoold: DOC & XLS menjadi EXE..Bahaya nih..!!

Nama aneh DeulleDoX itu merupakan milik virus lokal. Virus berukuran 107.520 bytes ini dibuat menggunakan Delphi. Kami mendapat banyak kiriman virus ini dari pembaca PC Media. Virus ini pun diduga kuat telah menyebar luas di masyarakat. Walau virus ini mampu menempel pada file EXE Windows dan sulit untuk diperbaiki, namun kami berhasil menciptakan PCMAV SE khusus untuk mengatasi virus ini secara tuntas 100% dan tanpa merusak file EXE yang ditempel.

Beberapa antivirus lain ada yang mengenalnya sebagai Delf.BK. Namun ada juga yang mengenalnya sebagai FaceCool.O, padahal ini adalah virus yang berbeda, dan bukan varian dari FaceCool atau MrCoolFace. Dalam aksinya, seperti virus lain ia pun mencoba mem-blok program antivirus yang akan dijalankan.

Virus yang di-pack menggunakan UPX ini dapat menyebar melalui perantara media penyimpan data, seperti flash disc. Selain itu, virus ini juga dapat menyebar melalui jaringan, karena ia akan membuka sharing pada komputer yang terinfeksi, dan berharap ada orang lain di jaringan yang meng-eksekusi file virus yang mirip dengan folder tersebut.

DeulleDoX dapat menempel pada file executable lain (biasanya berekstensi EXE). Ia akan menaruh isi tubuh file yang akan diinfeksikanya di bagian bawah tubuh sang virus. Saat file yang terinfeksi dijalankan, yang pertama dieksekusi adalah tubuh virusnya sendiri, baru selanjutnya mengeksekusi tubuh asli program yang telah ia infeksi.

Jika virus ini gagal saat menginfeksi file executable program lain atau malah file executable system dari Windows, maka akan berakibat sangat fatal. Program ataupun Windows Anda tidak akan dapat berjalan dengan semestinya. Jika sudah terjadi seperti ini, sepertinya Anda harus meng-install ulang atau me-recovery-nya. Maka dari itu, backup-lah data/program penting Anda secara rutin jika tidak ingin kehilangannya.

Disable Auto-Run and Auto-Play of U3 Smart Drives Launchpad

If you have bought a USB flash drive that comes with U3 Smart Drives platform, such as Kingston U3 DataTraveler, SanDisk Cruzer Micro or Titanium, Verbatim Store ‘n’ Go U3 Smart Drive, Memorex Mini TravelDrive U, which enables users to install and use software, carry and transfer data beside share information seamlessly between multiple computers. However, not every U3 smart drives flash disks owner would like to use the features of U3, and U3 Launchpad application is not necessary to utilize the main function of a USB flash drive or thumb drive - that’s as mass data storage device.

You can always easily remove and uninstall U3 Launchpad that comes preinstalled and embeded in the USB flash drive or pen drive with U3 Launchpad Removal Tool. However, the problem is that, once you uninstall and remove the U3 Launchpad from the USB U3 smart drives storage device, it’s not possible to download the U3 Launchpad to install the U3 Launchpad into the ‘used-to-be-U3-smart-drives’ USB flash drive again.

So if you’re unsure or in doubt whether you will use the features and functionalities of U3 Launchpad in future, it’s better that you just disable the U3 Launchpad by preventing and stopping U3 Launchpad to automatically start when the U3 smart drive is inserted into the computer. Users can prevent the U3 Launchpad from automatically running each time the U3 flash drive is inserted by holding down the SHIFT key while inserting the U3 smart drive. Keep holding the SHIFT key until Windows has properly detect and enable the USB flash disk drive, indicating with the USB device started sound. Now the U3 smart drive has been recognized by Windows operating system as a normal USB mass storage device, which can be used and accessed just like a normal USB storage disk or memory key. If you want to start the U3 Launchpad after suppressing it, locate and right-click on the U3 smart drive’s CDROM drive letter in Explorer, and select AutoPlay.

U3 Launchpad emulates itself as a virtual CD drive in the Windows operating system and uses the built-in Autorun and AutoPlay features in Windows to start the U3 Launchpad automatically. If you feel that pressing the SHIFT key everytime during insertion of U3 smart drive is troublesome and forgetable, then you can disable the auto-run or auto-play features in Windows XP and Windows 2000 operating system. To disable automatically running CD-ROMs and Audio CDs, users must edit the registry value:

1.Click Start -> Run.
2.Type RegEdit in the Open text box, then press ENTER.
3.In the Registry Editor, locate and click the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDRom

4.Modify the value of the Autorun to 0 (zero) so that CD-ROMs and Audio CDs do not run and start automatically when inserted.
5.Next navigate to the following registry subkey:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

6.Modify the value of the NoDriveTypeAutoRun entry to 0xb5 value to turn off the 7.AutoRun feature for CD-ROMs by right-click NoDriveTypeAutoRun and then click 8.Modify to type B5 in the Value data box. Select Hexadecimal, and then click OK.
9.Quit Registry Editor.
10.Restart your computer.

Control Programs That Run at Startup

The best way to prevent a program from running at Startup, is to check the program's own options for a way to prevent this. Most good quality programs will provide an option for this.

If you can't find the option there, click Start, Run and enter MSCONFIG. Go to the Startup tab, and uncheck the item there. This method is not always 100% successful. An example is a program that you do use, but you don't want running automatically. Some programs will check to see if the program's own options say it should run at Startup. If the program thinks its supposed to load at startup, it will re-create the autorun entry.

A small utility that can help you determine where things are loading from is Startup Programs Tracker, which can be downloaded here

Editing the Registry for "other" Users

From an account with Administrator level access

1) Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT
2) In Regedit, highlight the HKEY_USERS key and go to File, Load Hive.
3) Use the File Open dialog to go to the Documents and Settings\ folder, where is the account you wish to modify.
4) Highlight the NTUSER.DAT file in this folder (usually a hidden file) and select Open.

5) You'll be prompted to enter a "Key name". You can use whatever you wish, but I use the User's logon name.
6) You can now expand the Hive you just loaded and make any needed changes.
7) When finished, highlight this Hive again and go to File, Unload Hive.

NOTE: You MUST unload the Hive prior to logging on to the users account. Otherwise XP may have trouble loading the user's profile.

Windows Vista adalah nama dari versi terbaru Microsoft Windows, sistem operasi berbasis grafis dari Microsoft yang digunakan pada komputer pribadi (PC), baik untuk pengguna rumahan maupun bisnis, pada komputer laptop, maupun media center.

Sebelum diumumkan dengan nama Windows Vista pada 22 Juli 2005, sistem operasi ini lebih dikenal dengan codename Longhorn (berasal dari nama Longhorn Saloon, sebuah bar terkenal di Whistler, British Columbia, Kanada).

Microsoft meluncurkan Windows Vista pada 8 November 2006 untuk pengguna bisnis, dan 30 Januari 2007 untuk pengguna rumahan. Dengan demikian, peluncuran Windows Vista ini berjarak lebih dari lima tahun sejak peluncuran Windows XP pada 25 Oktober 2001.

Microsoft pertama kalinya mengumumkan "Longhorn" pada bulan Juli 2001, bahkan sebelum peluncuran Windows XP pada bulan Oktober tahun yang sama. Pada awalnya, Longhorn diharapkan untuk mulai dijual pada kisaran tahun 2003 sebagai batu loncatan di antara Windows XP dan "Blackcomb" (sekarang dikenal sebagai Windows "Vienna"). Secara bertahap, "Longhorn" nyatanya dibangun dengan banyak fitur-fitur dan teknologi baru dari "Blackcomb", sehingga tanggal peluncurannya pun berkali-kali diundur. Dalam roadmap Microsoft tampaknya rencana untuk tanggal rilis ke pabrikan adalah pada atau sebelum 25 Oktober 2006.

Google queried on privacy policy

Google has been told that it may be breaking European privacy laws by keeping people's search information on its servers for up to two years.
A data protection group that advises the European Union has written to the search giant to express concerns.

The Article 29 group, made up of data protection commissioners around the EU, has asked Google to clarify its policy.

Peter Fleischer, Google's global privacy counsel, said the firm was committed to dialogue with the group.

"We believe it's an important part of our commitment to respect user privacy while balancing a number of important factors, such as maintaining security and preventing fraud and abuse," Mr Fleischer said.

"This group has addressed a letter to Google raising a number of questions," EU spokesman Pietro Petrucci said, adding that the Union's Justice Commissioner Franco Frattini was backing the investigation.

"He considers those questions raised by the letter to be appropriate and legitimate," Mr Petrucci said.

A spokeswoman for SEO Google said the firm would answer the EU's privacy concerns before the panel's next meeting at the end of June.

"The concern is about keeping information about people's search for a definite period of time ranging from 18 to 24 months," she said.

"They (the working party) believe it is too long."

Data retention

Earlier this year Google said it would anonymise personal data it receives from users' web search after 18 to 24 months.

At the time, the firm said it was taking the step partly to match data retention laws being rolled out across Europe.

European Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and phone companies are in the process of implementing an EU directive that forces them to retain a variety of communication data for up to two years.

Google collects and stores data from each query. It holds information such as the search term itself, the unique address of the PC being used, known as the IP address, and details of how a user makes searches, such as the browser used and previous queries to Google.

That information can contain private data about a user, and could be used to build a detailed picture of the user's habits or lifestyle.

Google has said it was using this information to help improve its different services and to monitor how its search engine was functioning.

Privacy groups are concerned about how the data collected by Google, and other web firms, could be used to monitor people's online habits.
