♥Party in the Swamp

Noah's fave TV show is 'Swamp People" and so this year, for his 4th birthday, he requested a Swamp-theme party. I knew I had my work cut out for me, but I enjoyed every single minute of it. I chose the color scheme of red, green, and brown with accents of camo. We held the party at a local park overlooking a lake. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be THE perfect setting!

I just realized that I never shared the photos here...silly me! So, here you go!

The park already had this rustic sign holder that I simply inserted my welcome sign into. I used lots of gator silhouettes in the paper goods.

I covered the food table in ivory muslin and then used a camo hunting blind as an overlay! My handy hubby designed the holder for my fishnet backdrop. He anchored two curtain rods in buckets filled with sand with one piece of wood in the middle to hold it up. He then draped the fishnet over the rods and voila...a backdrop. I used mini clothespins to hang Noah's banner and some gator-themed photos from the year.

Our main course was true Louisiana fare - red beans & rice.

Green grapes stacked on skewers became our "gator tails." I anchored them in a styrofoam picket fence basket, which was used as a display in Hobby Lobby. I snagged it for 99 cents from a generous Hobby Lobby employee! The camo "bait buckets" in the left of this picture were used to hold my chicken nuggets from McDonald's (Noah's fave).

I used our vintage Coca Cola box to hold our "Swamp Sauce" applesauce.

Our esteemed young guests were given an adorable camo sipper cup for their drink. I had to go to two different Hobby Lobby's and Party City to get enough. I simply tied my name cards on with twine so everyone could keep up with their cups.

My antique & chippy stool held my beverage dispensers. I even found camo Solo cups at Walmart and did a little happy dance in the aisle!

I got to re-use my DIY woodland cupcake stands for Noah's cupcakes. They were homemade Magnolia cupcakes iced with organic green icing and topped with crushed animal crackers...super yummy! Thank you to my Mom and family for helping me make them!

Another DIY container I made was my planter pedestal. I found the green crackled planters at Dollar Tree. I also had some clear glass candlesticks that I spray-painted brown. Then, with a little Gorilla Glue, it became my cute pedestal for my cake pops.

The Birthday Boy's cupcake was served inside our antique toy boat and was given a place of honor atop my stump decoration.

For our favors, we gave each of the guests a copy of Petite Rouge Riding Hood by Mike Artell, a cajun Red Riding Hood story as well as a bag of organic candy.

I found tiny kraft paper bags at Hobby Lobby and fancied them up with my gator silhouette tags.

I made a collage of some of Noah's 4-year photos that I took and framed it for the party.

I covered the other picnic tables with kraft paper. I also put a tin bucket of gator-shaped crayons in the middle of each for the kiddos to draw with during dinner. Writing on the table is so much fun for the little kiddos!

We borrowed a canoe from our neighbors to hold the gifts as well as be a photo booth.

I made signs and and photo props for the guests to use for their canoe picture.

♥Easter Egg Hunt

Last year, we had our first Egg Hunt at our house and all the little bunnies had SO much fun! Take a look at all the "egg"citing festivities!

I covered my table in a canary colored tablecloth and bought some iridescent rainbow fabric to cover my foam board for the backdrop. I made the chocolate bunny banner and the tent food tags. I found faux grass place mats at Hobby Lobby to give my table a natural Spring-y feel.

Served inside a tall cylinder vase was my "Bunny Tails" which were lollipop sticks topped with white powdered donuts.

For the carrot patch, I filled triangle cello bags with goldfish crackers and tied them with green ribbon.

Arrrrgh Matey, time to walk the plank to today's party feature! This fun pirate party comes from Michelle at Green Acre Hobby Farm. I couldn't wait to share the photos with you!

Michelle made the awesome cake from a tutorial she found at Family Fun.

A party tip from Michelle: hit up the dollar stores at Halloween for any upcoming party. This past year, she bought swords, eye patches, and hooks.

A party trick I love...hot-gluing ribbon around water bottles. Michelle simply added a jolly roger flag to the center.

I love this idea of cannon balls...grapes and whoppers.

♥St. Patrick's Day For Less

Ever since I went to Savannah, GA for their St. Patrick's Day festivities, I have LOVED this lucky holiday! This year, I designed a brand new LOTS OF LUCK party collection and wanted to set up a simple food table for a photo shoot. However, I didn't want to spend a lot of mulah, so here's how I did it...

I used a white tablecloth I already had, and draped a green & white scarf down the center. I used my two square Pampered Chef trays and covered them in my printable paper.

I strung some festive ribbon through my cake stand and dressed up my rainbow cupcakes (from Target) with my toppers and wrappers.

I hung the banner over the table with glue dots. I found the rainbow pinwheels at Dollar Tree and anchored them in Dollar Tree green pots with floral foam covered with green glass stones. For some height, I added a plain white box that I already had to perch my colorful candy jar.

I taped wooden skewers to the back of my moustache & bowtie photo props for an easy photo idea.

I wrapped my water bottles with my water bottle labels and they look brand new.

So, here's a breakdown of how much it cost me to put this table together...

Where Have I Been?

I thought I would pop in to let you all know where in the world I have been! First of all, let me say that I have been doing much soul searching and praying during the last couple of weeks. I am in the planning stages of homeschooling Noah for his first year of preschool! It is a BIG endeavor for me. I am preparing his curriculum, transforming our home into a make-shift classroom, and spending lots of time making materials.

The reason we have decided to undertake this preschool mission, is that...

I want to be Noah's first teacher & it is up to the parents to prepare their children for school!
I want to show Noah what it means to be a Christian and to teach him about the Bible, so he can have a firm foundation on the ROCK.
I want to enjoy every second of Noah's last FULL year home with me, and I want to see him learn and experience new things!

So, I have decided to take a break from the Moo Moo's & Tutus blog! The blog will still be here, if you need to reference a party or a vendor, but I will not be making updates at this time. I am still keeping my shop open, but won't be doing as many custom orders as before. I want to devote most my time to my family, instead of spending many sleepless nights working on my designs!

I have decided, however, to go back to blogging on our family blog. It has gotten a cute face lift and will be called "Taking Flight." **It's a work in progress! :) The blog will focus on Noah and our family, especially our home preschool journey! I would love it if you would come on over, and become a follower (click the picture below). I may not be posting quite as often, but I do promise to take you along on our new adventure! Thank you all for your continued support! :)

What place is more beautiful to pledge your life to the one you love than a white, sandy beach? This Hilton Head wedding found at Aisle Candy, has such a relaxed Southern paradise feel! The combination of deep navy attire with warm floral arrangements pops against the creamy white sand! I have always loved billowing Spanish Moss trees; they just shout the South to me ("Gone With the Wind" fan that I am).

My Buckaroo Monday {Our Beach Trip}

Hello, bloggy friends! Did you miss me? As promised, welcome to BEACH WEEK!!!

I had a wonderful time spending the 4th of July holiday with my family and we were so blessed to get to go to Myrtle Beach to celebrate! Noah had a great time filling up his dump truck with sand and making 4,784 trips running to the ocean to fill up his bucket with water! He's my little Beach Boy and I'm SO GLAD he loves the beach as much as I always have! Here's some of my favorite pictures from our trip.

He loved riding the same carousel that I rode when I was little. For those of you familiar with Myrtle Beach, it used to be at The Pavilion, but when it closed a few years ago, the carousel, along with some other favorite rides, was purchased by Broadway at the Beach for their Nostalgia Park.

On the 4th of July, we went to Calabash, a wonderful part of the coast full of yummy seafood restaurants. After dinner, we strolled the dock to see the fishing boats!

Our hotel was connected to a pier, where they had a BEAUTIFUL fireworks display over the ocean.

Noah had fun finding cool shells and playing with his "Coastguard Ship" in the ocean.

Our mini photo shoot on our last night at the beach (getting a 3-year-old to be still and NOT play in the water or sand before his nap is not a good idea...trust me!) But, we got some good pictures anyway! :)

The bride and her Mom made quilted table toppers and fabric button magnets as seat cards. Guests were asked to sign the back of fabric squares with fabric pens. Later, the Bride's Mom put the table toppers and guest squares together to make a beautiful heirloom quilt for the happy couple.

YAY, it's Friday, happy people! Today, I wanted to share a Baby Sip & See with lots to MOO about... from Half Baked! The theme is milk and I immediately fell in love with the cow print and the milk bottles...too cute!

The invitation was double sided, with one side being cow print.

The favors were "Kisses from the Baby"; a pretty package with decorated kisses inside.

Guests were asked to write wishes, advice, and funny thoughts throughout the shower.

Wedding Wednesday {Seminole Garnet & Gold}

Two Florida Seminole Sweethearts, Ashley & Paul, celebrated their wedding with a gold, garnet, and navy outdoor wedding with plenty of Southern charm! I found their wedding feature at Southern Weddings...take a look at the highlights!

I love the different styles of bridesmaids gowns in the same color and length. Notice that the two maids of honor wore gold shoes (love it)!

A beautiful setting for the ceremony; two shepherd hooks held mason jars filled with colorful bouquets marking the entrance.

Fabric swatches in the color scheme were used as escort cards and vintage blue and white straws add a festive touch to the reception!

I can't tell you how much I love these firefly mason jars! I want some for my house! Wreaths were made from burlap to decorate the bride and groom's chairs.

Teaching Tuesday {Summer Units}

Are you going on vacation this summer, perhaps taking a long car ride, or a flight? Well, you will need some fun activities to keep those kiddos happy and busy! I'm going to slide the pages into sheet protectors and put some dry-erase markers in a 3-ring pencil pouch in the notebook.

My Buckaroo Monday {Father's Day}

This past weekend was ALL ABOUT DADDY!!! I believe in celebrating special occasions for a week/weekend, not just a day...how about you? So, on Friday night, Noah & Daddy roasted marshmallows in the backyard & caught some fireflies in a jar! On Saturday, Noah & I surprised Daddy with a special breakfast and then took him shopping to pick out his present of new clothes! On Sunday, we went to church, to eat at Olive Garden (one of Dad's faves), and then to Gatlinburg for a fun evening!

I was going to make some custom printables for my Father's Day Breakfast, but I found the CUTEST free collection at Shindig Parties to Go, so I was so excited to use those! Thanks, Amanda, for saving me tons of time and for being so generous with your creations!

I also downloaded a template to make this "World's Best Pop" can wrapper, but I cannot remember where I found it. If it is your creation, or you know who created it, please let me know, and I'll give proper credit. Anyway, I tweaked it to match my other printables and wrapped a can of Diet Coke (although Sam didn't drink this till later in the day). I guess I'm the only one who drinks caffeinated soft drinks for breakfast...hello Mello Yellow! :)

I made strawberry muffins, used my burlap wrappers, and topped them with Amanda's tie toppers.

Yummy strawberries accompanied our muffins.

I took a picture of Noah wearing Sam's clothes and made and 8x10 print with the photo and a poem called "Walking with Daddy." I framed it and added it to our breakfast buffet table.

Super Saturday {Baby Under Construction}

New to the shop today is my BABY UNDER CONSTRUCTION Printable Collection! This collection was designed for my sweet friend, Bridget, who is having a baby boy in July. She already has an adorable little girl, Livia (Noah's "girlfriend"), but I wanted to celebrate her first boy with a little shower at my house.

I chose orange, lemon yellow, and black for my color scheme. I also designed a silhouette graphic of a pregnant girl to be my "Construction Logo," {B.U.M.P ~ Baby Undergoing Master's Plan}.

I put my "Bump Ahead" sign on the front door with some caution tape. I also lined the driveway with traffic cones with balloons tied to them. {It was so hot that day, the balloons popped before I got a picture~ugh!}

I set the table with a yellow tablecloth and a runner made from orange burlap.

I wrapped mason jars with the burlap too to hold my daisies interspersed with (Noah's) tools

I wrapped my silverware in white linen napkins, folded them to look like diapers and pinned them all together with diaper pins. I topped them with yellow bows.

I served lime chips with queso dips, veggies and cucumbers, sausage rolls, lemon blueberry trifle, and a fruit salad. (YUM!)

I hung strips of caution tape around my beverage table. I served sweet tea and lemonade in my mason jar glasses. Then, I tied on my cone drink tags with each guest's name.

I ordered delicious cupcakes from a local bakery, Sweet Celebrations and then put them in my orange burlap wrappers and then added my cupcake toppers.

I set up a favor table with goodies to help keep the guests' hands pretty ~ nail polish and manicure supplies.

The guests got to fill up these cute baskets with their favors to take home.

Guests were asked to write baby boy advice in this "Baby Boy Blueprints" book for the Mommy to keep for future reference. :)

I decorated my mantle with framed lyrics to the children's song, "He's Still Working On Me" and some of Noah's construction toys.

I also framed our Construction sign.

During the shower, guests were asked to choose an iron-on transfer, and iron it onto a onesie for the new baby boy!

Wedding Wednesday {Colors of Savannah}

Happy Wednesday, folks! Time for another beautiful wedding...well, make that two weddings! Sam & I went to a friend's wedding on Saturday, but silly me forgot my camera! What kind of blogger am I, really??? But, I did manage to snap a few pics with my phone. They're not the best quality, but it was better than no photos at all, right?

Congratulations, Amanda & Josh, I wish you all the happiness in the world as you begin your journey as Mr. & Mrs.!

While searching for wedding ideas, I found a one at Southern Weddings that took place in one of the prettiest cities I know...Savannah, GA! We visited last year and I loved the beauty and history of the city! One aspect that stuck out to me about this wedding is that the bride did not choose one or two colors, she chose them all! I am smitten with anything rainbow-colored, so I absolutely LOVE this wedding!

There were pops of color in the flowers and decor, but the attire (like the Vera Wang wedding gown) & food was kept simple, yet elegant, so as not to go into color overload! All aspects of the south were incorporated into this celebration such as BBQ, Bluegrass music, pecan-topped cookies, and a rock candy decorated cake! It looks like such a fun and whimsical evening!

The aisle was lined with mason jars filled with wildflower bouquets hung from garden hooks embellished with colorful ribbons.

The ceremony was set up in the middle of Greene Square in Savannah.

Gray curtains lined the reception tent interspersed with multi-colored ribbons!

An old window turned chalkboard served as a cute sign for the sweets table.

Ribbons were used again to top the tables.

The happy couple wheeled away into married bliss!
