For my boyfriend's birthday we visited Maze by Gordon Ramsay at the London hotel. Since we were going to see Sister Act following dinner the pre-theatre menu was perfect for us. Basically, you let the restaurant know the time of your show and your entire meal is timed perfectly so you finish on time.

Once we sat down, we immediately enjoyed a creamy mushroom soup in a shot glass and focaccia bread. It was so tasty my boyfriend wanted more of the amuse-bouche. Next, we had lobster gazpacho with avocado cream, slightly spicy but delicious. The best thing about the entire meal was the service and the presentation. Seriously, you take two sips of your water and the glass is being filled before your hand even leaves the glass. We laughed about Gordon Ramsay being in the back just waiting for one of the servers to miss something so he could flog them in the back.

For our main course, we had skirt steak with chimichurri sauce, broccoli rabe, and creamy coconut polenta. The steak was perfectly cooked, we asked for medium and it was perfect. The chimichurri sauce was really good, but my favorite part was the creamy coconut polenta.

No dinner would be complete without drinks. The best drink was raspberry royal made with creme de framboise mixed with raspberry, pomegrante and Ayala champagne.

For dessert, we had Chocolate pudding with stout ice cream, pretzel, peanut butter powder and the Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting walnut praline ice cream. But what really stole the show were the chocolate truffles that are placed on each table. Melt in your mouth goodness!

The number one thing I look for in hair care products is the product's ability to actually to it's job. This is probably why Pantene is my favorite drugstore hair care brand. All of their products do what they are supposed to do and they do it well. The Pantene Moisture Balance Collection that Sanaa Lathan is now the face of, is no exception. The Pantene Moisture Balance shampoo and conditioner work well together to cleanse the scalp and hair, then moisturize and aid in detangling it.

Now, the star of the duo is the Cassia Seed Extract. The Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion Moisture Balance Shampoo contains the proprietary Cassia Complex that leaves hair naturally radiant and provides strength against damage from root to tip. Worth noting is that the Cassia Complex is not as high on the list of ingredients as I would have liked it to be. The higher up on the ingredient list, the higher the concentration in the product. Aside from that, the shampoo cleanses well and does not dry out my hair despite the use of SLS.

The Pantene Pro-V Nature Fusion Moisture Balance Conditioner contains naturally derived ingredients like Aloe Vera that help improve manageability and leaves hair beautifully soft and conditioned. I find that the conditioner works well enough, it softens my hair and makes detangling easy but for me I need to follow up with a deep conditioner. No matter how good an instant type conditioner works I always follow up with a deep treatment.

As a huge fan of Top Chef, Craftbar by Tom Colicchio was on my list restaurants to try for some time now. I finally made it there with my boyfriend for our 1 year anniversary. In typical NYC fashion, the tables are close to each other but the wall of wines is definitely eye catching. The service was great, no waiting around for your water glass to be filled, everyone was on top of everything which was fantastic.

To start, we ordered Crispy Artichokes w/ Anchovy Aioli & Pecorino. Which is artichoke hearts lightly battered and pan fried with the aioli on top which added a bit of salty flavor. Pecorino Arancini & Spicy Tomato, basically rice balls stuffed with melted cheese. The rice balls are seemingly the most popular appetitzer because all the people seated around us had them as well.

For our main course we had the chef special of the day, the pork platter for two, featuring braised pork belly, pork porterhouse, and pork kielbasa with roasted potatoes, baby carrots, and cipollini onions. It was beyond amazing! I'm cuban and I've never tasted pork like this. It was tender, flavorful, and just delicious.

Finally, for dessert we had carrot cheesecake and Crispy Churros Chili Chocolate Sauce. Both were really good, but the Churros were my favorite. Everything was super light and after finishing everything we didn't feel heavy and stuffed. I highly recommend this restaurant!

So it looks like maybe I was on to something when I sported that "childish" headband! Ha! Hair accessories were all the rage on the 2012 Golden Globe red carpet.

Michelle Williams rocked a black headband with some bling to it, over her pixie 'do.

Busy Phillips wore a barely there skinny headband, which highlighted the teased updo she wore.

Charlize Theron stole the show with a princess like crystal headband.

About the look, Campbell says he created “red carpet naturally enchanting” for Shailene. Here’s how you can recreate her style at home:

Stop Dry Winter Hair

The one word to keep in mind this winter when it comes to your hair is, MOISTURIZE!

Static cling, dull finish, split ends... these are all the results of dehydrated hair.
With a few simple tips from Pureology Colour Care Ambassador Natasha Sunshine, you can keep your hair looking great all winter long.

1. Keep a bottle of Evian spray in your purse. They come in a mini size so they're easy to lug around. A light blast of water can help with static or even hat head. Afraid of messing up your blowdry? Don't worry. Do an all over light mist from about 12" away, then smooth your flat palms over your hair.

2. Condition, condition, condition. You'll want to go for a daily conditioner with extra moisture during our driest months. Plus, a once a week conditioning masque for five minutes will give you that extra dose of hydration your hair needs. Try Pureology's Hydrate Conditioner and Hydrate HydraWhip Masque.

3. When it comes to styling, be sure to lock in moisture by using a leave-in conditioner and a deeply nourishing styler. January 2012 Length Check

December was a terrible month for me as far as sticking to Operation Wedding Hair goes. I did not stick to the plan at all and completely overused heat tools. I'm blaming the holidays and holiday parties. I'm not even going to do a comparison picture because I do not even want to do a roller-set and get my roots blown out. Yeah, December was that bad.

So for the month of January, I'm going to be extremely diligent in following the plan to the letter. I've already started the new year off by doing a light protein treatment under steam, I used La Bomba with Cream of Avocado (Amazon.com) and then followed up with an overnight treatment of Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle Rose Conditioner which is completely protein free. The next morning I rinsed everything out, used SH RD Protein Cream (Amazon.com) as my leave-in and put my hair in four plaits to dry. Then the next week, I steamed again, deep conditioned, and used Curlformers (for more see Curlformers: Revisited). So expect length updates for the month of February which is coming up faster than you think!

It's been a super long time since I've tried out Curlformers. Remember those? If not, here's my initial impression from 2010. After the mess, I tried them one more time over Memorial Day Weekend 2010 without any success. Fast forward to 2012, my hair is longer and guess what? I did it! Minimal pulling and tugging, I got all the Curlformers in quickly and I have to say I'm pretty pleased with the results.

Plus the style ended up lasting at least 3 days. To maintain the curls while I slept, I put them up in a loose ponytail, then used a clip to clip the curls up to the top of my head where they stayed while I slept. Then when I woke up, I took it down added a little oil or moisturizing cream and went on my way. The photos I posted here and on twitter are from day 3!

Rock the Look: Effortless Waves

Lucy Hale of Pretty Little Liars rocked an "effortless yet elegant" style at 2012 The People's Choice Awards with a new "chic, shaggy" haircut, complementing her one-shouldered, low- back, short black dress compliments of Hair Stylist Scott Cunha.

To get Lucy's look, Scott gave her a voluminous blowout using the T3 AntiGravity Barrel Brush and the T3 Featherweight Luxe Dryer. Using the T3 SinglePass flat iron in an up and down “S shape” motion, he added a textured wave around the face. The iron’s rounded edges make this technique possible.

AHS Official Word: Again, I absolutely love the fact that Sofn'Free products have an expiration date. 'The man' likes the scent, he said it cleansed his scalp well and it didn't feel super dry afterwards. I like that the formula is sulfate free. The formula is super duper thick and almost gummy, but it lathers well and cleanses well. I like it but I'm not in love with it, I think it awesome for men but I need a separate conditioner. After using the shampoo my hair and scalp felt clean but my hair did not feel as though it had been conditioned. Plus, detangling with this 2 in 1 product was not as easy as it normally is with a separate conditioner. So with that said, it's officially 'his'.

Have Better Hair in 2012

The new year is here and I know a lot of women vowed to have better hair in 2012! Here are a few easy no-brainer ways to get better hair in 2012!

1. Always sleep on satin or silk. If you do not tie your hair up at night, make sure your pillowcase is either silk or satin to prevent moisture loss and breakage.

2. Condition your hair with every wash. This might seem like a crazy one to all my veterans out there, but for the newbies it's important. Do not underestimate the power of weekly deep treatments. Plus, you need the conditioner to help detangle your hair because I know you weren't thinking about detangling without one.

3. Get rid of unhealthy ends. Do not hold on to damaged ends, the damage will only spread up the hair shaft and result in the need to cut off even more. Let it go now!

4. If you are relaxed, do not over do it. Focus on spacing your relaxers out even further to prevent over-processing and damage. If you are not relaxed but instead color-treated, take it a shade darker. Lighter shades usually mean more damage. If you are both relaxed and color-treated ((side eye)) and see #2 treatments must be your best friend.

5. Alternate your moisturizing treatments with protein treatments to ensure and keep up the protein/moisture balance. I've always leaned more towards moisture and extremely mild protein treatments but this year I'm going to test the protein waters even more. Remember protein is important for relaxed hair.

I had no intentions of writing a year end review but I can't help you rave about these two products that I used in 2011 that I absolutely love.

First up, the Huetiful Hair and Facial Steamer (1yr Replacement and Free Shipping), $124.99. I have sang it's praising since the moment I got it. It's easy to put together, comes with a handy facial steaming tool, and has really given my hair care regimen the extra boost it needed. I've noticed that there is a very similar looking products on amazon for less money. I have not tried it so I can't say if this one is as great but they look exactly the same, Secura Hair and Facial Steamer with Ozone Technology, for $89.99.

The second product is Jamaican Black Castor Oil, $9.99. It's a staple product and key element of Operation Wedding Hair. It has helped the nape of my hair grow in like nothing else I've tried. So there you have it, the two products that rocked my 2011 and the one's I will definitely continue using into 2012!
