Acrostic Poetry: Young Henry VIII Episode 1

This week have been learning about Henry VIII's younger years. We have been comparing portraits, of how he looked when he was young with how he looked as he got older. We created similes in our literacy hour to describe Henry as a young man, using clues in the portraits we explored, and used these to create these simile acrostics using his name. Here are a few of the poems we wrote, we will be publishing the others in our next episode. We would love to hear what you think.

Playing With Words: Limericks

For the last few weeks we have been playing with words, thinking about rhyme and pattern. We recorded this podcast during our plenary and lesson review sessions while we were sharing the limericks we had been working on in class. The first part of the podcast features some of the limericks we made while we played a class game. Spooky!. The last few we wrote our selves, using the rhyming pattern and rhythm we had learned during our lessons. What do you think?

Playing With Words: Spells

For the last few weeks we have been playing with words, thinking about rhyme and pattern. The spells for this podcast were recorded during our plenary and are based on a scene from a famous Play by William Shakespeare. We learned about the Tudors in Year 3 and Shakespeare was a famous writer from From those times. We had lots of fun thinking of ingredients. What do you think? Would the Bard have been as proud as we are?

This week we have been thinking about the properties of 2d shapes we made some wanted posters in class to help us think about how we might describe shapes using mathematical language. We decided to use some of these poster to help us produce a short news bulletin, using some of the ideas we had been learning about. What do you think?
