Here we go again....

2025-06-21T14:08:00.001+02:00

I said I wouldn't start a new big project this summer. Well, today I started with the second building on the property. The biggest project of them all after the main building. 🙄 It's in very bad shape and I had to start with putting up som support beams so I won't go through the floor. I don't really know how much there is to do because it's filled with garbage and I need to clean that out before I can start stripping it. My hope is that I will find something valuable. So far it's just been crap. And a dead cat. 🙄

Oh, well...

2025-02-13T22:02:00.001+01:00

This too shall pass.

*scratches my knee*

I'm bored.

Ugh

2024-09-27T12:15:00.001+02:00

I'm extremely restless and bored. Going from working hours on the house every day to not being able to do anything is horrible. 😕

I bet I'm gaining weight also. Pfft!

Random stuff

2024-09-22T19:34:00.001+02:00

Here's some pics of random stuff. The first one is of my old cat that I lost in March, it was horrible, and I still miss my baby. :'(

Next years projects

2024-09-22T19:01:00.003+02:00

Most of the big projects on the house are done, there will always be stuff to do but so far I'm pretty happy. The next years big projects will be this:

I will make half of it to a guest room and the other half to a little work shop for myself. I've always wanted that so I am really looking forward to it. Another big project is building a little green house, also something I've always wanted, but I don't think I will be able to do both next year. We'll see.

As it is now, I'm very tired and feel like I've done enough for this year, it's good it's soon winter so I can rest. Well, I am resting a lot right now since I had surgery on my foot three weeks ago and can't do a lot of stuff, so that's good. There are still a few things on my list that I'm supposed to do before winter, hopefully the foot will heal as expected so I can do that before the snow comes. And then I will rest, I promise! ;)

Okay, let's continue with what I've done during my year of not posting here. I think this is pretty much it, there's some stuff also that I haven't taken pics of , like a lot of garden stuff happening, but this is enough.

I had some spaces in the kitchen where no ordinary cabinets would fit so I built them myself, and then I added a cornice (not sure if that is the right word) on top of the cabinets.

I installed an attic ladder and a new ceiling and as mentioned earlier, the new chimney.

Okay, continuing with the photo dump in this post. And again there's too much pictures so there will be another post with the rest.

Built a support wall and got some new gravel:

Built a couple of new fences, a plant box and painted the house foundation and made a hatch for the crawl space, which I haven't taken a picture of yet. Also painted some flower planters and made a hatch for the old well. And made a rain chain. Oh, and a lot of sawing since I took down a few trees.

Well over a year since the last post, I guess that's a decent amount of time. Lots been done on the house so I will just dump some photos. In no particular order. Okay, I realize I've done more than I thought during the year so I will have to make at least two posts about it, maybe more.

New bathroom fan:

I didn't like the tiles I put in in the bathroom so I changed it:

Can't remember if I posted pics of the shower corner, anyway here's some:

Here's some exterior pics. First a new roof and chimney:

Cleaning up between the buildings and digging down new drainage:

Finally done.

2023-07-17T16:45:00.001+02:00

I was done with the deck on Saturday afternoon. And I started working today. But at least I had like a day to rest. 😂

I'm very happy with it, I still need to make the two little doors for the storage space under it and a gate so the dogs can't get out. But another day. I'm pretty exhausted tbh.

So far so good.

2023-07-06T19:38:00.001+02:00

The weather really haven't been on my side lately so I'm behind on everything. The forecast says three days from tomorrow without rain so I will make sure to get as much as possible done then.

This is how far I've come right now.

Update on the deck

2023-06-28T07:40:00.001+02:00

The framework is done and I've built a stair so next will be the floor. Was going to start on that yesterday but it rained. This has been hard, physically I am not feeling great. But the heaviest work is over so that's good. Today I won't work on the deck at all, I am taking the day off. First I will go and have a facial treatment and tonight I am going to see Bruce Springsteen with my daughter. Going out eating also. So, tomorrow I will continue.

Deck update.

2023-06-23T20:49:00.001+02:00

Well, it's not going fast. It's so damn heavy to handle all those beams and poles, I wish sometimes that I had someone to help me. Then I pull up my big girl pants and carry on. Everything on the framework will be done tomorrow and then I can start on the floor. After that it's time for the roof that will be over part of the deck. Then it's the railing and whatever it's called that covers the poles so you can't see under the construction. That's it. Easy peasy right? 😂

Midsummer

2023-06-22T19:47:00.001+02:00

Tomorrow is midsummer's eve so I bought some flowers for myself. That's the only way I will get any flowers 😂

Midsummer is all about nature, flowers, food and friends getting together. I'm not getting together anything though because I will be building my deck. I will eat some traditional food though when I feel I worked enough for the day.

Rain

2023-06-21T13:44:00.002+02:00

I love rain but it would be nice if it could pour down in the evening and night instead lol. But okay, it's been so hot and dry for so long so it's very nice even if it delays my deck. It will be sunny for a week after today so there will be time.

I have to drill two more holes in the bedrock after it stops raining because why not. 🙄

Here's a pic of one hole btw. This must be the most interesting photo this week!😂

My new deck.

2023-06-20T19:30:00.001+02:00

Started working om the deck. It's hard work but it will be very nice when it's done. So far so good. Bumped into bedrock when I was digging so I had to drill and so. It delayed it all with one day but hopefully I will be able to finish it soon anyway.

Vacation

2023-06-16T20:11:00.000+02:00

I made my last workday before vacation today. Maybe I should just call it workcation instead because as usual that is exactly what I will do. I will start building my new deck tomorrow. It's been very hot here in Sweden the past weeks, too hot for me. It will be just as hot tomorrow so we will see how long I can be outside working. After that it will cool down a little and even rain. My kind of weather. ^_^

Looking back....

2023-06-14T20:17:00.001+02:00

When I look back at what I have actually done the last three years I realize that I must be full blown crazy. No normal person would take on a project like this. I'm friggin nuts. lol I should wear a shirt with the text: 60% stubborn and 40% idiot. 😆

Stove corner

2023-06-14T18:12:00.000+02:00

This is the corner for the stove. New little iron stove was bought. I still haven't got the new chimney up but that will happen in a couple of months when I do the last of the roof.

More livingroom

2023-06-14T18:05:00.001+02:00

From the very beginning. Removing a rotten wall and floor and building it up again and putting in a new window. Now it's my little reading corner.

Living room

2023-06-14T17:53:00.000+02:00

Here's some pics of what I've done in the livingroom. The door leads to the bathroom.

Exterior and roof

2023-06-13T18:17:00.001+02:00

A couple of before and after pics on the exterior. And of the roof. I did half of it in May and will do the other side after summer. To be honest, I am very tired after working so hard for so long.

Porch and entrance.

2023-06-13T18:07:00.000+02:00

Then there was a new porch and entrance. I spent my four weeks of vacation last summer doing this and the sewer treatment plant. The first photos is from the very beginning.

Sewer treatment.

2023-06-13T16:58:00.000+02:00

Okay, time to update a little with what I have done during more than a year. I will start with the sewer and mini treatment plant. Not the sexiest thing but one of the biggest and most complex. I wasn't sure I would be able to pull it off. But I did. And the joy to be able to actually take a shower and do laundry in my own house was worth all the work and agony. Dad helped with the digging.

Long time no see...

2023-06-07T18:49:00.001+02:00

It's been over a year since I posted anything. I have been so busy and working hard on the house. I am getting there though. Slowly but steady. And I must say that I am a bit proud of myself for not giving up. I have a feeling that many would by now. But all is basically done inside. What I have left is to build a deck, I will do that on my vacation that starts in about 10 days. After that there's some things to do in the yard, I will get help from my dad with that, his excavator is here so I will have some digging done. Then I need to do the rest of the roof, I did half of it a month ago and will do the rest after the other outdoor stuff is done. Then I am basically done. Well, with the things I HAVE to do. After that I will do stuff that I want to do that isn't super important. Like building a greenhouse. I will try to start adding pictures again. But I can't guarantee it lol.

Small stuff

2022-04-16T20:15:00.003+02:00

I overdid last week when I threw trash and fucked up my arm and shoulder so I have had to rest all week to try to heal it. It's been horrible because I get so restless. I've done small stuff like moving things up to the attic and such. And today I sanded and oiled the old sliding door to the kitchen. It looks super nice. Not easy to show on pictures, it looks a lot better irl. Tomorrow I will start sawing down trees. And paint a little. I have to be careful so I don't overwork my arm again.

Before and after pics of the sliding door.
